Regulus sneaks off to the Potters to give Sirius a secret Christmas gift and gets caught by Sirius and James who convince him to stay a bit longer, and every time Regulus is like, "I have to go" and Sirius is like, "It's Christmas Reg, cmon just a little longer, you can say that I dragged you here against your will or whatever, just stay a little for a bit longer." And Regulus, being loki helpless against his older brother, just agrees. And he begins to bond with everyone.

Eventually, Regulus accidentally stays the rest of the day and when he gets ready to finally leave, Effie is like, "Would you like to stay the night? It's quite late" and Monty just straight up says, "Would you like to stay forever?"

And that's how Regulus ran away. (Accidentally)

Merry Christmas and happy holidays!!!! Christmas at the potters was warm and loud even if it was mostly just an excuse to stuff their faces and gather together around a pile of spuds. it seems like this is something they've always done and even if that's not true, its something they always will. together in the safety of home

i hope i got Effie and Monty right, i got suggestions from socials along with how i see them.

Effie and Monty adopt Sirius and his legal surname changes to ‘Potter’.

Remus marries Sirius and takes his last name (Potter) because he’s never liked his name.

Regulus marries James and takes his last name to get away from the House of Black.

effie used to let james ‘help’ her to cook while he was growing up, but he always made much more of a mess than actually helping. when regulus moved in, he offered to help effie as a way to give something back, and she taught him everything she knew, recipes and all!

when she died, regulus started cooking for james. it took one dish of effie’s special pasta to send james into a breakdown, because his mum might be gone, but her legacy lives on.

At the start of his 6th year, Regulus stood alone in front of the train.

He watched parents and children have tearful goodbye, watched friends greet each other with hugs and cheerful wave, watched the whole place be filled with love and there he was alone.

The wise thing to do is to get in the train and take compartment for himself but he stood there stuck. His parents thought he was old enough to be on his own, not even Kreacher could accompany him. He sure would miss the little elf more than he would his parents.

Regulus gripped his trunk tighter, his knuckles almost turning white because of it. He didn’t want this loneliness to accompany him into the train, didnt want the coldness of his heart to travel with him to Hogwarts. He’s not even sure why he craved a warmth his parents would never give. What the point of longing for something you’ll never have?

“Train’s about to leave, dear!” A voice cut through his dark aura. “Best to get in before you lose any good sit.”

Regulus looked to his side and froze. Standing to his left was none other than Euphemia Potter and her husband Fleamont. The warmth that radiated from them almost burned Regulus but he didn’t mind one bit, if to feel this love is to burn then he would gladly turn into ashes. He looked around to see if his brother and the son of the wonderful couple was nearby—

“Don’t worry about the boys.” Fleamont said suddenly. “They boarded the train as soon as they saw Remus and Peter.”

“Oh.” Was all Regulus could say. He’s not sure if he’s permitted to say more.

“Now,” Effie said, breaking the ice cold silence. She dusted his shoulders off, straightened his coat, brushed her warm fingers against his cold cheeks. “You look very handsome, dear. Try not to be closed off this school year. Make sure you have some fun, alright?”

“—Not too much fun though!” Monty added quickly. “But then again, you have always been more careful than your brother so I have no doubt you wont get caught should you have too much fun—”

“Dont you forget to eat! I know you and your tendency to get lost in that book of yours so do remember to put the book down once in a while and nibble on some sweets, yes?” Effie continued on.

Regulus couldn’t do anything but nod. He was afraid of what might happen should he open his mouth, tears falling down controllably was definitely one of the scenarios.

“Good.” Effie said, a brilliant beautiful smile on his face. “Off you go, my darling. Have a good school year.”

Regulus nodded once more. He was tempted to drop his belongings and pull the wonderful parents into a hug but he knows that would be too much. He simply smiled at them, a small once, one he doesn’t direct at anyone that much, and walked to the train. Before getting inside he looks back and sees them still smiling and waving at him.

A warmth in his heart resided and refused to leave throughout the whole ride.

They wanted kids so bad. Struggled to have James. And then just loved him unconditionally. Adopted his friends when they needed parents too. They were probably at every one of his quidditch games. Effie probably bought Sirius his motorbike. Monty 100% brewed Remus’ wolfbane potions for FREE. They for sure brought Peter to his first muggle botanical garden. They LOVED them, your honor.

Can someone out there write a Jegulus competitive ballroom dance AU? I've been watching those videos where there are 2 people at an improve competition and they've never met before let alone danced together and then they end up having immaculate chemistry and decide to be each other's dance partners.

I would write it myself, but i know absolutely nothing about dancing. Competitive or otherwise. But I would kill to read this.

In the meantime, I guess I'll just have to reread 'You Signed Up For This' by Sollmussa because honestly, the dancing in that one wrecked me beyond repair.

Okay, I thought was done, but I'm so not. Here are some things about the AU that I desperately crave:

Latino James. Dance is actually his 3rd language and he's fluent.

Effie and Monty met each other in a dance class when they were teens, and then they were paired up with each other by the teacher. They had a bit of a rivalry at first, but then as they started dancing together more and more, they fell in love. The two ended up becoming very famous competitive ballroom dancers and retired when they had James. They never stopped dancing though and they engrained that love into James

Former Ballet dancer Regulus. He stopped dancing ballet after he finally left his family home to live with Sirius. He still loves dancing, but ballet has too many bad memories attached to it and he lost his love for it.

Sirius introduced him to this type of competitive dance via Effie's class. He still doesn't meet James until he's actually at a competition though. ^.^

Bonus:

Pandora and Evan did ballet with Regulus and Sirius when they were kids but left to do other types of dance before they were even teenagers.

Evan and Panda used to dance competitively together until Regulus needed a partner for his first competition and Pandora volunteered. Evan was cool with it, because it's Regulus, but there's a tiny part of him that's just like, 'Well who am I going to dance with then?'

Enter Barty, someone who is known among other dancers for being notorious for scaring away his dance partners.

Holy shit guys I take it all back. I need to write this. Forget the fact that I don't know anything, ja boi is gonna have to fucking learn.
