I think that Percy should've been kidnapped after finding out that Sally is a few months pregnant. So when Percy gets his memory back in SoN, he remembers her telling him that he's gonna have a little baby sister or brother, and that becomes a huge point of strength for him to make it back home. He needs to survive to finally meet his little sibling. That thought carries him through Tartarus, through Annabeth acting like he's a monster and crying/begging him not to use his powers, through seeing horrific gods: Tartarus, Nyx and the edge of chaos. And then one of the final scenes of HoO is Percy literally running home, knocking on the door and Paul or Sally answers with little baby Estelle, only a few months old in their arms.

kind of a follow up to my own post but i had a flashback to my sister trying to convince my mom to let her get a tattoo at 16 because i had a few and i just thought about estelle who thinks percy is so cool, trying to convince sally and paul to let her get a tattoo at 16/17 because percy had his SPQR tattoo when he was that age and them having to try and figure out how to explain why she can’t

i have a theory that demigod genes are kinda like autism in that they trickle down to younger siblings (like it's more likely for the younger siblings of an autistic kid to be on the spectrum than those who were born before). i'm not saying younger, mortal siblings of demigods could become demigods themselves, of course, but more that there's some sort of tie or pull there to that godly side, despite having no real connection to the god who gave their sibling half their genetic code

percy is an introvert who happens to be attractive therefore leading to a LOT of people liking him

he runs out of social battery so fast but he's just naturally good at conversation that everyone thinks he's hella extroverted

Very very Minor spoilers for Percy jackson and the Chalice of the gods

I just finished Percy Jackson and the chalice of the gods and OH MY GODS I LOVE IT SO MUCH.

Not only is it a well written book (as usual) but also seeing the Trio back together.

Having MULTIPLE Jackson-Blofis dinners where Annabeth is also presents and you're just feeling how good this family is.

Annabeths and Sally's relationship getting fleshed out but also Percy and Paul having their moments.

Poseidon actually doing things close to parenting for Percy.

Rick dedicating the book to Walker,Leah and Aryan with the words "to new beginnings".

Also new beginnings kinda being the topic of the book

I do like Iris and Ganymede (I'm very sorry for him).

Percys strength being shown again and him seeming even more powerful than ever.

CHARACTER GROWTH.

The fight with Gary was such a good idea. (Power of friendship working realistically)

Athena not killing Percy (kinda unexpected)

Percy just constantly thinking of his future with Annabeth and it bringing him through the Quest. This had me happy screaming so much.

Eudora seems funny I'm excited to see more of her.

The stakes not being worldendingly high made it so much calmer to read but since it was still personal you totally rooted for Percy.

Percy living his life and getting glimpses into his day to day life with his friends and family.

Annabeth has FANS in the greek world.

And it all ending with a family dinner where you're just happy and everything is nice and well and good and they're all so happy and laughing together. This is just what they needed after all these years of Trauma all of them endured.

I'm probably gonna edit so mich more to this when I calmed down enough and my thoughts cleared that I can obsess about it more

sally and paul planning a date night and hiring a babysitter for estelle bc percy and annabeth also have a date planned but the babysitter cancelled. sally doesn’t want to ask percy and annabeth to cancel their date to watch estelle so she almost cancels hers but percy cuts in saying that they’ll watch estelle and sally and paul should go out. after some convincing she gives in and estelle tags along with percy and annabeth and all night they get comments on how beautiful their family is and how they’re wonderful parents. they never correct anyone bc then it’s this awkward conversation so instead they construct this whole story throughout the night of this crazy love story full of twists and turns and ups and downs

Do y’all ever think about how Percy is the only Big Three Demigod who doesn’t get a sibling in the Heroes of Olympus?

Nico loses Bianca, but gains Hazel, a sister who can also understand how it feels to be displaced in time. Thalia and Jason are full siblings, not just to sharing a godly parent, and though they spend comparatively less time together than the children of Hades/Pluto they do clearly care.

Percy…has Tyson, sure, but Tyson is not exactly a demigod, not accompanying him on his quests, not really tied to the prophecies and the camp past his introduction in Sea of Monsters.

But Percy does technically gain a sibling, just not a demigod one. He has Estelle, and they share a mother even she isn’t tied to the world of myths and monsters with him. And I think that, even if it’s sad she won’t understand his experiences as a demigod, it’s kinda fitting that Percy’s new half sibling is by the parent who he loved most.
