SiCKtM: the horrors of perfection
I was recently reminded of someone I went to highschool with for a short time. She was Asian-American (Chinese iirc), fairly tall, a bit thin, and conventionally beautiful. But that’s not what sticks to the forefront. That’s not why I remember her.
She was effectively perfect.
Smart, kind, well-mannered (of course *sigh*), and skilled. She played the piano* well. And traveled outside the US. Was very likeable. And… the kinda person who’s side you’d lean towards without knowing context for a conflict.
“Perfect” sadly is the best word I can think of to simplify her. 🤔
And this is where it goes somewhere maybe unexpected.
You see… it’s not that she was givin’ me Asami Yamazaki vibes from the Japanese slow-ass burn horror Audition (1999), which I had already seen a year or two prior. It’s that she just… clearly had issues. And if you’ve seen the movie, you’re thinking more than I mean right now (y’all, dat shit’s an experience once it actually kicks in). All I’m getting at is that she had a lot on her plate. Alotta expectations. Alotta pressure. Alotta shit she had to wade through. All while bearing that pretty, kind-ass smile.
I could just see her pain.
And I recognize that I could’ve been projectin’ my own pain onto her. My own responsibilities and shit. But let’s just say I’m not and keep on.
There was just something underlying there. When I looked at her. Spoke with her. When she spoke with me (for some reason). I couldn’t help but feel bad. And feel… kinda sorry? I’m not sure, it’s been too long now and she’s likely forgotten me. But I somehow could see her face while typing this. Some freaking how, she left a mark in my mind. That really nice, really patient, fairly pretty young lady from highschool. Who actually spoke to me (and my weird ass) for some reason.
But why do I bring her up? Why in dahell is she on my mind? Well… remember that Tokimeki Memorial post I made 3 weeks ago? I’ve been listening to Action Button’s 6hr review in the background on loop again (productivity trick) and made it to section 9 of 11 (again). It’s in this section that Tim Rogers gets to The Point: "The Itch The Freak Scratched". And it’s in this section that I was reminded of the aforementioned person.
See… Shiori Fujisaki is the iconic main character of 1994’s Tokimeki Memorial video game and a recurring character in (damn near?) all of the 46 games within the Tokimeki Memorial franchise. But who is she? If Tim is to be believed, she’s the greatest endboss in gaming ever created.
But why dahell do I say that? How can a person in a damn dating sim be an endboss? Let alone the greatest ever made 29 years later?
To keep it short, Shiori is the hardest person to get with. She has the highest standards outta everybody. And the method to “earning her love” is such an unknown it’s frankly impossible to achieve without a guide.
Shiori Fujisaki is… perfect.
edit (2023/09/20):
*she actually played an instrument more impressive than a piano, but i forgot until after posting this. meh, leaving it in

dirkjake is so funny because you have these teens that honestly have fairly normal relationship problems especially considering the circumstances and then half the art of them is them killing each other
