Gotham TikTok
AKA "Danny moves to Gotham and records TikToks with absolutely deranged captions. He films Get Ready with Me in Gotham videos, fit checks, and even A Day in the Life of a Ghost in Gotham! Except everybody is freaking the fuck out in the comments" prompt idea!
No, you don't understand, I'm obsessed. Like, what if Danny's idea of "safe" is just... anything that doesn't actively try to kill him? So Metropolitians, Star City, and Central City citizens are literally biting their nails and sweating bullets every time he posts, because what if he gets merc'd by the "Eight Heads in a Duffel Bag" Red Hood?? And that's one of the nicer villains in Gotham. And Danny's just like wow, this place is niiiiiice, I haven't even been murdered yet!
Maybe Jazz took a 12-year-old Danny to Gotham to escape their parents. Gotham's cheap, dirty, and doesn't ask questions: it's the best place to go to disappear because damn near half the city's population are either super villains, hostages, dead, or vigilantes. She gets a job at an understaffed hospital as a clinical psych intern. She enrolls Danny for online schooling because she's scared a public high school would be too easy for their parents to track.
Which leaves Danny alone for hours. He makes a TikTok account called "Danny Phantom" because, c'mon, he's a kid. And, like most kids, he doesn't really comprehend the idea of a digital footprint or that his account is public, accessible by literally anybody.
He's also a little shit. So, the first TikTok he uploads is of a man getting carjacked, but the caption reads: love to see people helping each other. remember it's always okay to ask for help! it's okay, I don't know how to parallel park, either :)
And you just see this guy in a mask shove a businessman away from his car, gesturing with his gun, before getting into the driver's seat. Except the car is parallel parked so the carjacker just slowly inches back and forth between a Prius and a Honda until he can wedge himself out of the parking space. And then gets stuck in stand-still traffic. The TikTok goes viral. It's talked about on the Gotham news and Gothamites are losing their shit, pointing out the exact moment you can see the carjacker start to soundlessly cuss through the car's windshield or the way the businessman is just... standing on the side of the road, watching with a deadpan look.
Danny doesn't know about it being on the news, but he sees all the comments, likes, reposts, and feels something. He wonders if this is what Ember feels every time people listened to her music. So, he keeps posting. Usually, it's short three-second videos of a hilariously unexpected situation with an even more deranged caption. But then he's accidentally caught in the reflection of a store front while recording and doesn't know, posts it like he always does; only for this TikTok to go viral, too. Because "Danny Phantom" is a child??
He doesn't notice the shift in his comments, but the public opinion quickly changes from wow, Gothamites are just like that huh lol to what the FUCK, kid, get inside!!! anytime he posts.
Except Danny never gets hurt. Even in the most dangerous situations, when you'd think this kid is a goner for sure, he's just happily yapping in the background. He's so different from Gothamites because he lacks that dead-eyed, despair-inducing aura of someone who's lived in a hellmouth their whole lives. (A couple people post that Danny kind of reminds them of Golden Boy Brucie Wayne, all air-headed and unrealistically optimistic, and suddenly there's memes of "what happens when you've never gotten shot in Gotham" or "how i act when Commish Gordie accuses me of shoplifting again" with them side-by-side.)
And then Danny's posts go viral again and again. Danny doing a fit check with a blond-haired woman with a checkered outfit, she ruffles his hair and kisses him on the cheek. A picture of him wearing an old jean jacket with a bright red lipstick smear on his cheek is trending for weeks. Spoiler, fully suited up in an all-purple vigilante attire, and him shoving gas station hotdogs in their mouths. He even has videos of him clearly in Killer Croc's lair, with comments of are you in the sewers??? DANNY??? and he responds, no, i'm in mom & dad's basement :) (Waylon Jones is actually sitting behind him in one of the videos, intently watching a TV show on an iPad.)
Everybody adores Danny - Rogues, Gothamites, even the Bats. (There's at least six videos of Nightwing teaching Danny how to do backflips, handstands, and other acrobatic moves. Even the youngest Robin has been caught on camera quietly talking with Danny, a shocking lack of violence that left half the city's population suffering from cuteness aggression for the kids.)
So, yeah, Danny belongs to Gotham.
But the internet is widely accessible and Danny made it so, so easy to find him. Jazz obviously didn't know he was posting videos of himself publicly; she was too tired after back-to-back 12 hour shifts at the hospital that she hadn't even checked social media in months. Otherwise, she would've told him to be careful, to never show his face or post his real name on the internet. Then again, Jazz would never have expected all of Gotham (and Superman himself, totally endeared by the kid after Kon and Jon showed him a couple TikToks) would beat the absolute shit out of anybody going after Danny.
Imagine GIW's surprise when they track down Amity's former residential Ghost only to find an entire city frothing at the mouth to protect their Phantom.

Hi~ Love and DeepSpace girly here
Could you do hc's for the boys where MC is like. Later for dinner or something but before the bois can go and see what's up, MC sends them a text that's like
"Yea I'm gonna be late for dinner. Not sure how late, but I'll be there. I've been trynna find a way out of my room for like 20 minutes, but there's this very big bug between me and the door, and every time I move, it moves. When it flies its wings make this whirring noise akin to some vassal horror. We're locked at a stalemate, I'm at every disadvantage, and I wholeheartedly believe the bug is aware of this."
(I don't hate bugs or anything but this sounds so funny in my head)
Tumblr media
BUGGED AND BELATED
Tumblr media
PAIRING: Love and Deepspace men x gn!reader
SYNOPSIS: You're trapped in your room, locked in a silent battle with a bug that’s far too aware of your fear. Every move you make, it counters. Every escape plan, foiled. Dinner will have to wait—this thing might actually win.
A/N: Thank you for the request. Hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
You were supposed to leave twenty minutes ago. Twenty. For a date. With a man you had just started seeing—a man you actually liked, which was rare enough to be considered a cosmic event. You wanted to make a good impression. Show up on time, looking effortlessly stunning, exuding charm and mystery. Just like the diva you were.
Instead, you were crouched behind a chair like a soldier in enemy territory, locked in a silent battle with a creature that had no business being this menacing.
The bug sat there, unmoving, yet radiating pure malice. To be honest, you couldn’t even tell what species it belonged to—somewhere between a beetle and a winged nightmare—but what you did know was that this thing was an opponent of the highest caliber. Every time you so much as shifted toward the door, it twitched, its wings lifting just enough to emit that sinister, high-pitched whirrrr.
And like a rational, fearless adult, you responded by screeching and diving right back into hiding.
This was a hostage situation. A Mexican standoff where only one of you had the advantage—and it sure as hell wasn’t you. The bug had taken control of the room, standing guard like a tiny, exoskeletal bouncer blocking your exit. If it had arms, you were certain they’d be crossed. Maybe even holding a clipboard with your name on the Do Not Pass list.
To be fair, you weren’t afraid of it, not exactly. It’s not like you thought it would launch an aerial assault and drag you into the vents. No, this was something worse. This was the principle of the matter. You were bigger. You were (presumably) smarter. You had evolved beyond your primal ancestors who once feared such creatures. And yet, here you were—hiding. Defeated. Outplayed by something a fraction of your size with the IQ of a rock.
It was a battle of wits, and the bug was winning.
You were moments away from accepting your fate, contemplating whether it was time to draft a farewell message to society—“Tell my date I died bravely in combat”—when your phone rang.
Loud. Sharp. Invasive.
The bug moved.
And so did you—by nearly launching yourself out of your own skin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Xavier
You glanced at your phone, still flicking your eyes toward the bug every few seconds, refusing to trust the little menace. It had already robbed you of your dignity—you weren’t about to let it rob you of your life, too.
The screen lit up with a message from Xavier.
"You could've just told me if you didn’t want to meet today. I could be asleep right now instead of waiting 20 minutes for my date, who didn’t show up 😔👎"
You groaned, slapping a hand to your forehead. Great. Just great. His text was clearly teasing, but the guilt still hit like a truck. Xavier was sweet, kind, patient—all things you did not deserve while currently cowering behind a chair, engaged in psychological warfare with a bug.
You shot a death glare at your opponent.
The bug, as if personally insulted, spread its wings again with a menacing whirrr, as if to say "Do something about it, coward."
You squeaked and pressed yourself further into hiding. The sheer audacity of this thing.
Frustration bubbled in your chest, so overwhelming it almost made you want to cry. This was it. The bug had won. You were defeated.
Desperate, you called Xavier. He picked up on the second ring.
"Bug!" you shrieked—because apparently, that was the only thing your panic-ridden brain could muster.
Unfortunately, your enemy took offense to your attempt at reinforcements.
With an unholy BZZZZZZT, it lunged.
You screamed and made a break for it, sprinting toward the bathroom like your life depended on it—which, at this point, it probably did. You barely managed to lock the door before stuffing a towel under the gap to ensure the beast wouldn’t crawl its way in.
From the other end of the phone, Xavier’s voice came through, laced with concern. "Y/N?"
"Xavier! There’s a murderous bug in my apartment! It wants me dead! Oh my god—I'm too young to die!" you wailed, slapping your thigh in frustration.
Which, in hindsight, was a mistake.
"Ow."
You winced, rubbing the sore spot like an idiot.
There was a pause on the line before Xavier simply said, "I'll be there in a second."
You barely had time to process that before the call ended.
Outside, you could still hear the bug, hovering around like a tiny, winged executioner.
"Stupid bug," you muttered under your breath, arms crossed, sulking in your self-imposed exile.
A minute passed. Then—a knock on the bathroom door.
"Y/N?"
You practically leapt up, flinging the door open. Your eyes darted around the room, scanning for any signs of your sworn enemy before finally landing on Xavier.
“…Did you get rid of it?” you asked, breathless.
He simply nodded, expression unreadable.
For a moment, you could only stare at him—your knight in shining armor. And then, overcome with relief, you launched yourself at him, wrapping your arms around his neck like a lifeline.
"My savior!!" you cried, rocking the both of you side to side, your gratitude radiating off you in waves. For extra effect, you even pressed a dramatic kiss to his cheek before pulling back, hands settling on his shoulders.
Xavier was visibly flustered, the tips of his ears burning red. But there was also something else in his expression—a quiet, barely-contained laugh.
And then he did laugh. A soft chuckle, amused and way too smug for your liking.
He reached out, smoothing down your slightly disheveled hair. "You're adorable when you're terrified."
"Don't you dare laugh at me," you pouted, though the small smile on your lips betrayed you. "You don’t understand how bloodthirsty that thing was."
"Mm, sure," he mused, eyes gleaming. "But now that I’ve saved your life, and considering you did ditch me tonight…" He tilted his head, a mischievous smirk playing at his lips. "You’ll need to make it up to me."
You narrowed your eyes. "I’m going to kick you."
"Okay, okay—" He held his hands up in surrender, still grinning.
…You did end up baking his favorite cookies as a thank-you, though.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Zayne
You snatched up your phone with the urgency of someone fleeing an inferno.
“Is something the matter? We were supposed to meet 20 minutes ago,” Zayne’s voice was impossibly calm, though you could hear a hint of something softer underneath—a trace of disappointment, perhaps, that you weren’t there.
“Help!!! Me!!!” you wailed into the phone, your eyes fixed on the fiend in front of you. It was perched in the doorway like a guardian of doom. A creature so vile, it made your pulse quicken with panic.
You swore it was mocking you.
“Where are you? I’ll be there in five minutes,” Zayne responded, his tone laced with concern that might’ve been heartwarming if you weren’t currently engaged in a life-or-death standoff with an insect that seemed capable of understanding the emotional depths of human suffering.
“In my apartment... There’s a bug. It’s holding me hostage, Zayne, I’m not kidding. I can’t get out,” you explained, backing away slowly as the bug twitched. The sheer audacity of this tiny creature to hold you prisoner in your own home had you flabbergasted.
You could almost hear Zayne’s sigh through the phone, a mixture of concern and, dare you say it, disbelief. You could practically picture him pinching the bridge of his nose, probably contemplating the universe's cruel sense of humor. Was this how living a life by your side would look like?
“…I’ll be there in five minutes.”
You tried to wait. You really did. You took a deep breath, lifted a pillow, and threw it at the bug. It fluttered back, as if taunting you, and your confidence plummeted faster than the falling stock market. Next came the slipper, but that only made it angrier. You briefly entertained the idea of throwing the chair at it—seriously, what was the worst that could happen? But common sense prevailed.
Still, the bug didn’t relent. In fact, it seemed to be toying with you, edging closer with each passing second, its wings fluttering like the harbinger of doom.
And then, like a knight in shining armor—if that knight was slightly irritated and impossibly poised—Zayne entered.
He didn’t knock. He didn’t need to. He knew you’d open the door for him.
The scene he walked into was something straight out of a tragedy, but it lacked the nobility and grandeur. You were cornered like a mouse by a cat. The bug sat there, wings spread in a challenge. You, in your finest cornered-animal panic, clutched the edge of the couch as if it could save you.
Zayne surveyed the situation, his brows knitting in disbelief. The word “seriously” almost visibly hovered over his head. He muttered something to himself under his breath—something along the lines of “A grown adult, reduced to this…” and grabbed the slipper you had unsuccessfully used in your battle. With one deft movement, he swatted the bug dead.
It was over. The monster was slain. You were free.
He turned to you, expression still a mixture of confusion and disbelief.
“Are you… Are you quite finished?” Zayne asked, his voice a low, cultured lilt, tinged with something that could almost be construed as amusement. His gaze flicked to the corner where you’d been backed into, and then back to you, who was now clinging to his arm like your life depended on it.
"Oh, thank God you're here," you sighed, utterly dramatic, “I thought I was going to perish in this apartment, alone and forgotten, just me and the bug in an eternal standoff!” You fluttered your eyelashes at him with all the flair you could muster, trying to inject some levity into the situation, though your chest still heaved in relief.
He blinked, visibly softening, but his voice remained stern, a tad patronizing as he gave your cheek a light pinch.
“You and your antics. Unbelievable,” he sighed, shaking his head. “What on earth possessed you to try and fight the insect with a pillow?”
“It wasn’t my fault!” you huffed, pouting as you gripped his arm tighter. “That thing had too much intelligence—I’m telling you, it was strategic.” You let out a dramatic sigh, as though recounting the tale of a great hero's struggle. “But, I’ll make it up to you. You’re my hero, after all.”
A sudden mischievous gleam flickered in your eyes. “How about I treat you to a massage for those tired, heroic muscles of yours?” you said, raising an eyebrow playfully, leaning in just enough to make your intentions clear.
Zayne raised an eyebrow in return, his lips twitching into a small but unmistakable smile. “A massage, hm? How very… unconventional of you,” he said, the hint of a smirk playing at his lips. “And here I was, expecting a thank you cake or perhaps a trophy for my valiant deeds.”
“I’ll bake you cookies later,” you said with a wink, already turning toward the kitchen. “But right now, I’m focused on making sure you aren’t walking around with tense shoulders from saving me from certain doom.”
Zayne’s smile softened, his eyes glinting with fondness as he crossed his arms. “Well, I suppose there’s no point in disobeying you now, is there?” He reached up and placed a gentle kiss on your forehead, his voice soft but teasing.
You grinned up at him. “But if that thing ever shows up again…” you glanced at the now-dead bug lying on the floor, “we’re going to need more than just a slipper.”
You smiled to yourself. The bug was defeated, your date was salvaged, and Zayne… well, Zayne was a keeper.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rafayel
Your phone was practically drowning in notifications from Rafayel. Each ping was more insistent than the last, almost like he thought you were hiding under a rock and couldn't see them.
"Where are you??" "I've been waiting for you for like, an hour now." "The audacity. I'm leaving. Fishes would start walking faster than you would get here." "AND you're not replying." "I'm this 🤏 close to blocking and reporting you."
You groaned, every word a reminder of how you were literally about to die at the hands—or wings—of a bug. You cursed under your breath and, with all the dignity you could muster, typed back: "House. Bug. Come!!!!!" That was all the energy you could spare before the creature—an absolute demon with wings—flapped them in your direction. Your heart skipped a beat. You dove behind the couch, praying it didn't have night-vision, or a complex plot to kill you slowly.
Your phone pinged again.
And again.
And again.
You didn’t dare check it—no, not while the little monster was hovering like it was plotting your demise. It was a battle of wills now, and you weren’t about to let your phone ruin your chance of survival.
You grabbed the nearest weapon: your expensive perfume. Maybe, just maybe, a spritz of it would do the trick. You aimed it like a champion—but the bug? The bug didn’t even flinch. Instead, it got more aggressive, flapping its wings with a smirk, if bugs had expressions. And the worst part? You just wasted your last drop of your favourite, expensive perfume. A tragedy on all fronts.
With no other options left, you waited for salvation. Where was anyone when you needed them? What kind of sick joke was this? How could you be outsmarted by an insect?
And then, the sound of footsteps. Hallelujah.
It was Rafayel.
You couldn’t decide whether you were filled with relief or utter terror. Was he here to rescue you? Or was he about to bail on you and leave you in a dramatic, bug-induced death scene worthy of a low-budget horror flick?
The door swung open with zero drama—Rafayel just barged in. He saw you, crouched behind the couch, practically whispering to yourself like you were in a hostage situation. His eyes immediately locked onto the bug, and for a second, time stopped.
His mouth opened, and you could practically hear the gears in his head turning before he spoke: “You are so in trouble right now, young lady. I—”
But then, the bug made a dramatic entrance. It flapped its wings in a show of pure, unadulterated confidence, like it knew it had just broken Rafayel's spirit. Rafayel froze, his eyes widening in horror, and within seconds, he was out the door, like a man running from a natural disaster.
“Rafayel! Don’t leave me here, you fish!” You whined, your voice pitched high in a way that made you sound like you were either five years old or on the verge of a mental breakdown. You weren’t sure which one it was.
The bug flapped its wings once more, mocking you. It was taunting you. You were being outwitted by something with a brain smaller than a grain of rice.
“I am not coming in there unless you get rid of this disgusting thing!” Rafayel’s voice came from the safety of the hallway, an unmistakable whiny tone in his words. He was refusing to enter, as if you had just asked him to enter a lion’s den while wearing a steak costume.
“You’re a fish! Don’t fishes eat bugs??” You groaned, still peeking out from behind the couch like a small animal in danger of being eaten alive.
“I have never been more insulted in my entire life,” Rafayel shot back, his voice dripping with melodrama. "Never in my—"
Before he could finish his Oscar-worthy speech, the bug made a beeline straight toward him. It was clearly hunting him now, and if you could hear its evil little thoughts, you were sure it was laughing at him. Rafayel yelped in sheer terror, darting behind the door like a child avoiding a splash of water.
“Take it away from me!!” He whimpered, his voice cracking in an almost comical way. If this were a reality show, this would definitely be the most embarrassing moment of the season.
You rubbed your temples in exasperation. This was fine. Everything was fine. Sure, your dignity was shattered. Sure, Rafayel was now questioning your survival instincts. Sure, you were the one who brought a broom to a battle that required grit and determination. But you were ready. It was time to defeat the beast. You needed to. After all, you couldn't get slain by the monster. you still had the whole Lemuria to repopulate.
“If I die right now,” you muttered to yourself, glaring at the bug like it was the villain in the movie of your life, “just know… I think your cooking’s actually terrible. And I once purposefully placed a brush next to your bed so you would slip on it. And—”
You were cut off by the sound of the bug’s wings buzzing, louder and more threatening than ever.
You grabbed your broom with the determination of a warrior and—without hesitation—charged. You swung it like a sword, taking out all your frustrations in one glorious, wild swipe. The bug was in mid-flight, doing its best to dodge your clumsy strikes, but eventually, victory was yours.
The demon bug, defeated, fluttered weakly out the window, and you stood, panting, broom still held high, like you’d just slain a dragon.
And then—silence.
You turned to Rafayel, still holding the broom like you were the hero of the story, waiting for your applause. But no. Instead, he stood there with his arms crossed, his lips pressed into a disapproving frown.
“You did WHAT?” he asked, the disbelief in his voice thick enough to spread on toast.
And in that moment, you realized—you’d won the battle against the bug. But now, a greater danger awaited you - an angry fish.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sylus
You barely had time to register the sound of your phone ringing before bam, your door was obliterated like it was made of cardboard.
There stood Sylus, a whirlwind of concern and urgency, his brow furrowed, eyes scanning the room with that signature intensity.
He must’ve assumed you were in immediate danger, and, well... he wasn’t entirely wrong.
You were hiding behind the chair, poking your head out like a startled meerkat, a wave of relief washing over you at the sight of him. Sylus, your towering savior. The person who could fix anything, even the most horrifying of circumstances.
The bug, though? It seemed just as startled as you, its wings twitching nervously as though it could sense Sylus’s unyielding presence in the room. If bugs could feel power, this one was now thoroughly aware of its impending doom.
You almost giggled to yourself. Game over for the bug.
Sylus, meanwhile, stood frozen in the doorway, his gaze shifting between you and the bug with an expression that could only be described as... confusion.
"Kitten, what’s the matter?" His voice had that smooth, no-nonsense tone, but there was a definite edge of concern hidden beneath the sternness.
You pointed dramatically at the bug on the floor, your finger trembling slightly as you did. You could feel your pulse racing, that primal fear creeping back. Sylus’s eyes followed your outstretched arm to the bug, then shifted back to you, his expression unreadable. He took a beat, processing the situation. Then, after what felt like an eternity, he deadpanned:
"You’re not actually serious, are you?"
You couldn’t even muster a comeback. Instead, you whined, ducking further behind the chair as the bug flapped its wings once again, preparing for round two.
"It’s trying to kill me!" You squeaked, clutching the chair as though it were your only line of defense against the monstrous thing that was quite literally the size of your thumb.
Sylus’s gaze lingered on you. There was a flicker of something in his eyes—was it disbelief? Amusement? Maybe a little bit of both. He stood there, dead silent, taking it all in. And then, to your horror, he turned on his heel and walked out of the room.
"Sylus, wait!" You squeaked, your voice rising with panic. The bug was closing in! Would your hero really leave you to face your untimely death at the claws—or wings—of this vile creature?
But just as quickly as he’d left, Sylus returned, striding in like the cavalry had just arrived. In one hand, he held a can of bug spray. No grand entrance, no dramatic speeches, just a weapon of mass destruction for your foe.
Without another word, he unleashed the spray like a warrior wielding a sword of justice, a small but fierce hiss filling the air. The bug’s frantic wing-flapping turned into a lazy, defeated flutter as it crumpled into oblivion.
You let out a breath you didn’t realize you’d been holding, cautiously peeking from behind the chair, making sure the battle was truly over. The bug was definitely down for the count. You waited another second, just to be sure, then, with all the grace of a startled deer, you leapt from your hiding place and ran straight into Sylus’s arms.
Without missing a beat, you buried your face in his chest, wrapping your arms around him as though he were your personal superhero—because, in this moment, he definitely was.
"Thank you, my hero!" You chimed, looking up at him, your voice a mixture of gratitude and—okay, maybe a little bit of dramatics. But could you blame yourself? It was a near-death experience.
Sylus’s face didn’t shift much, but his lips curled up at the edges in that trademark sly smirk of his. Oh, here it came.
"My, my... Whatever shall I do with you?" His voice was smooth, filled with an undertone of amusement as his hands slid around your waist, pulling you in closer, his presence overwhelming and comforting all at once.
You couldn’t help but giggle, your heart still racing from the excitement of it all. “Whatever you wish, oh my savior.” You batted your lashes dramatically, trying—and failing—to hold back a grin. "But first, let's get this dinner! All this near-death experience made me starving!"
With that, you grabbed his hand and began tugging him toward the door like a child dragging their parent to their favorite amusement park. Sylus followed, his chuckle rumbling through his chest as he matched your pace.
“As you wish, my lady,” he replied, his voice warm and amused.
“Oh, and by the way, you need to replace my door. You did kinda knock it down.” You gestured at the gaping hole in the doorway, now very much ruined by his heroic entrance.
Sylus raised an eyebrow, a playful smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. “I can just buy you a new house.”
“No,” you said flatly, shaking your head with conviction. “Not a new house. Just the door. And maybe some new furniture to match the hole you made.”

Caleb
You ignored your phone's ringing for now - afraid to move your gaze away from the bug.
You'd tried everything: pillow throws, shoe swats, even a half-hearted attempt at swatting it with a hairbrush. But every time you tried to inch your way to the door, the thing flapped its wings with an eerie, almost taunting precision. You were fairly certain it was actively laughing at you. The worst part? You couldn’t figure out what it even was—was it a cockroach? A beetle? No, it had the terrifying charisma of a tiny dragon.
At this point, your phone was pinging like crazy, full of messages from Caleb.
"Where you at, babe? :P" "You good? 😬" "Okay, I'm seriously starting to get concerned. Did you get abducted by aliens? XD" "Or worse... did you bail on me??"
You groaned, knowing you had to respond. With one eye on the bug (now doing an actual flyby of your head), you typed out a frantic reply: "Bug. Help. Please. I’m literally being held hostage."
The "send" button clicked just as the beast made a bold move toward you, sending you diving behind the couch. You muttered something obscene under your breath, praying to whatever higher power existed that Caleb would get the message.
You heard the front door creak open, and the sound of footsteps entering your apartment. Caleb’s unmistakable voice rang out immediately.
"You alive in there, or did you get eaten by a mutant insect?" His tone was teasing, light, but you could hear the hint of concern buried underneath it.
The moment you saw his face peeking around the corner, you almost burst into tears, then immediately regretted not thinking of this sooner—why hadn't you just called him earlier? This was a disaster.
"There!" You pointed shakily at the bug, now circling you like a demented helicopter, "It’s... it's trying to kill me, Caleb. Please get rid of it before I lose my mind."
He looked at the bug, then back at you, arching an eyebrow. "So, you're telling me this... thing has been keeping you hostage for 20 minutes? I’d say I’m impressed, but also... I’m honestly a little offended you didn’t call me earlier."
You shot him a pleading look. “I didn’t want to bother you! Plus, I thought I could handle it myself, but clearly—" you gestured at the bug dramatically, "—I was wrong."
He raised his hands in mock surrender. "Alright, alright, I’ll take care of it. But you owe me one for this. You owe me big time."
As if on cue, the bug lunged towards him, its wings buzzing aggressively.
"Look at this thing, Caleb! It knows I’m weak!" you shouted, half laughing, half panicking. You watched him as he calmly reached for the nearest object—a broom—before striding toward the creature like a true warrior.
"Relax, pipsqueak. I’ve got this." His voice was smooth, dripping with that signature teasing tone, but there was a flicker of protectiveness in his eyes. You knew he wasn’t going to let anything happen to you.
With one swift motion, he shooed the bug out of your apartment, making sure it was well and truly gone before turning to you with a satisfied grin.
You practically threw yourself into his arms, wrapping your arms around his neck. "Oh my god, Caleb. Thank you. I would’ve died in here if it wasn’t for you.”
He chuckled softly, his lips brushing the top of your head as he held you tight. "You owe me, sweetheart. You’re lucky I’m in a good mood. I came here expecting a romantic evening, not to play exterminator." His hand gently ran through your hair, a soft gesture of care that made your heart flutter despite everything.
"I’ll do anything," you said, your voice a little too serious.
He raised an eyebrow, clearly amused. "Anything? Hm, we might need to revisit that offer later, but for now..." He paused, leaning back to look you over. "I think we can still salvage the evening. After all, we’ve got the whole night ahead of us, right?"
You smirked, playfully brushing a strand of hair from his forehead. "Yeah, and you’re not getting out of dinner that easily. You still owe me a real date after this."
He laughed, pulling you closer. "Alright, alright. But just so you know, next time, I’m sending you a bug-catching kit as your official starter pack for dating me. You’ve been warned."
You couldn’t help but grin, a weight finally lifting from your shoulders as you found yourself safe in his arms.
"And Caleb," you said, trying to hide a mischievous smile, "You look hot when you move around with a broom."

bimbo!reader x rafe cameron
summary: rafe likes you too much to let you go (part one can be found here)
cw .ᐟ hints at nsfw, kidnapping, stockholm syndrome
꒰ notes ꒱ based on the film buffalo '66 (1998)
Tumblr media
stockholm syndrome— a coping mechanism to a captive situation. the physiological response to being held hostage, in which the captured develop a bond with their captor.
trapped in the shitty motel room, that typically rafe wouldn't be caught dead in. but he had to think quick, take you somewhere no questions would be asked.
still in the same clothes, rafe liked the pink tights and sheer skirt too much to bother going to buy you new ones. nothing to do with the fact he thought you'd escape if he left you alone, he knew you'd grown to accept that you weren't going anywhere.
he didn't force you to stay only within the four walls of the motel, he took you out too. on dates, if you will. local diners, makeshift picnics on the beach, rafe was being the perfect gentleman. well, as gentlemanly as one can be to his hostage.
"m'hungry." you murmur, fiddling with the hem of your skirt as you sit on the edge of the bed. "yeah, princess?" rafe mumbles, gently running a hand over your back from where he lays behind you. his softness had become a welcome change, no more harsh touches or screaming of orders. only when you were acting up.
he was testing the waters, taking you to the country club. he'd been exclusively taking you places where pogues frequent, the country club was the furthest thing from that. a place where people knew his name, his family.
drink in hand, actually good food on your plates, you were the picture of perfection to accompany it. "better, baby?" rafe mumbles, gulping down the liquid in his glass. nodding your head, opening your mouth to speak before interruption ensues.
"is rafe cameron on a date?" the blonde speaking laughs out the words, slapping a hand to the back of rafe's neck. you'd assume it was a friend, but the way rafe's jaw clenches in response makes you believe otherwise.
rafe leans away from his grip, eyes harsh as they meet the blondes. "fuck off topper, can't you see i'm busy?"
"touchy," topper smirks, as he looks over you from head to toe. rafe can see exactly what he's thinking, and he hates it. "where you been hidin' this girl, cameron?" god, if only he knew...
rafe is already up and standing, eyes level with topper. gaze warning, daring him to say anything more. he was the one who found you, did all the work to make you his, this is why he'd been keeping you locked up in that motel. no prying eyes to ogle at you, the only person who could look at you was him. the only one who could touch you, think of you even, was him.
"fuckin' quiet now, aren't you?" rafe taunts, a smirk threatening his features. watching the bob of topper's throat, swallowing down the nerves. "not a word, topper. don't even look at her."
you're almost impressed, watching how fast topper walked in the other direction. starting to piece parts of rafe's life together, quickly realising just how influential he must be. him specifically or his family name— you're not sure.
"you okay, doll?" rafe almost whispers, hand reaching over the table to gently take yours. you want to argue, tell him that topper barely did anything for you to be not okay about. but part of you can't help but play up to his concern. "mhm, thanks to you." you murmur softly, gently nodding your head.
the smile that spreads across his face is sinful. he was protecting you, and you were letting him. no arguments, no attempting to escape, you were grateful.
it was becoming too normal. rafe was long forgetting the circumstances to which you're lying next to him on the motel bed. the bruises he left on your ribs the first day were starting to disappear, the memory of your pleading starting to vanish from his mind. left only with the feeling of your hands on his skin, the gentle brushes through his hair, soft kisses to his cheek.
facing each other on the mattress, fingers interlocked between your bodies. no words exchanged, but his attention was solely on you. looking over the faint remaining eyeshadow left on your eyes, how your necklace pooled on your throat how you laid, the small indent on your bottom lip from where you'd been chewing.
"you're so pretty," he mumbles, thumb stroking over the hand in his. it wasn't the first compliment he paid you, but it was the first to make you blush. soft dusty pink washing over your cheeks, shy smile on your lips. squeezing your hand gently, before removing it from yours to caress your cheek. "i mean it."
unable to stop the way your face nuzzles against his touch, eyes fluttering shut. "never want you to leave me." he admits, voice barely above a whisper.
the words hit your ears and the air in the room suddenly feels different. he's genuine, almost... insecure, scared you'll beg him to let you go again. he's not sure he'd be able to deny you if you asked to leave again. "i don't want to." you whisper, softly reopening your eyes to meet his.
rafe's yet to taste your lips, but he's sure he just fell in love.
"you— you don't?" rafe asks, in disbelief. his hand cups your face, searching for any sign of uncertainty. "i don't." you assure, moving your hand to his face, mirroring his position to yours.
rafe tentatively shuffles closer, noses almost touching. feeling his laboured breathing fan across your face. his lips ever so softly touch yours, as though he was holding himself back. you were too precious, too soft to ever rush. for the first time, rafe wanted to go slow. lips kissing over your bottom lip, gently swiping his tongue across, asking for entry.
tongues meet and his eyes are rolling back beneath his eyelids, never had rafe tasted someone so sweet. one kiss, and he was completely done for.
"i like you, rafe." you whisper softly, lips kiss swollen.
"i more than like you, princess," he murmurs, voice as quiet as your own. "never letting you go."

I just want this fic to be here too👍 Part 1? Eh
_____________
“He's stalking his celebrity crush.”
“That's not stalking!” resents Swerve ”I'm just worried.”
Rewind makes a gesture that looks vaguely apologetic and looks at Tailgate again.
“Watching. He's watching his superhero celebrity crush who's a member of the Wreckers. And so far no one's survived long in the Wreckers, so he's shaking on every notification like a crazy mom.”
Tailgate tries to peer sideways into Swerve's phone
“That sounds stressful. Is that him? Is he dying?”
_____________
Blurr/Swerve, Superhero au, fic under the cut⤵️ Heavily inspired/based on this post
Blurr doesn't think life and death is something he can control.
He's about 99.99999% sure.
The remaining microscopic fraction of that idiotic statistic is held in place by one small but important factor that Blurr can't explain and isn't sure he even wants to explain. It's like the dream logic. The moment you realize exactly how things work is also the moment you wake up to realize it.
The very nuance understanding which destroys all magic or reveals the fact that magic never existed.
That nuance?
Blurr can't die.
And it's certainly not because he's not trying hard enough.
That last one sounds a little radical. But he has a history. His team has a history.
“Wreckers is a pretty peculiar collection of superheroes. It's easy to get into and even easier to get out of (usually feet first and in a bag). No other hero organization loses so many people so often. No other hero organization can also handle the level of threats that the Wreckers eliminate.
Their fans affectionately refer to them as the Suicide Squad. There is...a lot of black humor among the Wreckers fanbase and Blurr doesn't condemn it. Not after having to memorize new names and faces of teammates every six months.
The thing is.
He probably should have been dead a long time ago. A lot. A lot of “that was close” ago.
Just two days after joining the Wreckers, he found himself in the middle of an absolutely monstrous fire and miraculously escaped death by getting away just moments before the entire building collapsed on his head.
Only a week after that, he gets shot. Fifteen times.
And. Look.
Blurr is fast! Being fast is kind of his main thing as a speedster. He did the only logical thing and made an honest effort to dodge, but three of those fifteen bullets still ended up inside him and only miraculously didn't hit anything that couldn't be repaired.
Half a year later, a car falls on him.
Another month - some freaking supervillain decides to infect an entire country with a homemade super lethal virus and guess who becomes the only victim.
At least once a month, various psychopaths try to break his legs.
At least once every half a year he ends up being the one who “heroically saved all the hostages but didn't have time to save himself”.
It's like an endless stream of negative karma.
It's really amazing how such a small piece of civilization like Iacon can contain so many disasters. Even more amazing perhaps is how people manage to survive through all this neat smoothie of misery and violence.
Earthquakes, villains, villains, more villains, terrorists, natural disasters, monsters from outer space, and it all comes out of nowhere and it all takes a hundred percent effort to pack Blurr in a coffin.
Blurr... doesn't know why he's still alive.
He honestly has no idea how he's doing it. He may get into life-and-death situations more often than he does haircuts but every time things come within an inch of killing him. It's impossible luck. Statistically improbable chance. One-in-a-thousand odds. A fucking lightning caught in a bottle, but it happens so often it's like someone somewhere in heaven decided to open a bottled lightning factory and then reward Blurr with the title of their honorary loyal customer.
Blurr doesn't think he has power over life and death.
But here's the thing.
On some particularly violent nights, he wonders that maybe...
---------------
Sometimes Swerve thinks being a dedicated fan should be on the list of “unhealthy” high-paying jobs. One of those where they give you extra cash for the fact that you even bother to show up and then give you insurance and paid vacations.
Okay, that last one might be a bit of an overkill, but it would be nice if he at least had an endless supply of sedatives.
At least some chamomile. Preferably not from the sidewalk. He's not picky.
See, their world decided to change the rules of existence not too long ago and turned such a trivial thing as “trust” into a new in-game currency.
Simply put. If enough people believe something, it becomes true.
What has society chosen to do with that? Of course create an absolutely insane cult of celebrity worship, essentially giving a bunch of already rich and beautiful people superpowers as well.
As if they weren't already living luxuriously enough!
Swerve is not jealous. Certainly not. His first thought when he found out about the new “rules” was definitely not to tell everyone he knows that he won a million dollars and wait for the power of belief to make it true.
He surely wasn't trying to do that. Anyone who claims otherwise is either a liar or their name starts with a T and ends with Gate.
Speaking of.....
Tailgate scratches the back of his head puzzled.
“So you didn't actually win a million dollars?”
They are sitting in a small cafe, the name of which Swerve has honestly forgotten. Or rather he never memorized it, because the local owner of the place prefers to hang huge posters with superheroes right above the name. Swerve is a rather controllable customer.....
Rewind, sitting at the same cheap plastic table as them, hums.
“And here I was trying to figure out if your holey slippers were a cry for help or one of those crazy expensive 'fancy' designs.”
“Ha. ha.” says Swerve slowly and deliberately unhappily “If I get rich one day, I won't tell any of you.”
He slowly takes a sip of some obscure looking substance that Rewind ordered for them all as an experiment and turns to Tailgate.
“Look, it's a pretty fun system. Things that people believe in strongly enough - become real. So if uh, if uh, if we as a whole country believe that our government is honest - that will, in theory, make it honest. Or if a hundred thousand people genuinely believe you can fly, you will be able to fly. That's how it works now.”
Tailgate stares at him. With very large, puzzled eyes.
Swerve tries not to laugh too hard. Poor Tailgate had once gone off to explore the caves and somehow, by some incredible means, managed to get lost and stuck in them for two whole months. Then he crawled out and discovered that magic had appeared in the world while he was gone. Swerve thinks that if he were Tailgate, he'd look very stupid too, trying to realize the absurdity of the situation.
Tailgate is toying with his curled straw.
“So is the government honest now?”
Rewind makes a loud “snrk” noise into his cup.
Swerve chuckles. Not as “funny” haha but more like “we fucked it all up” haha.
It shouldn't be possible to fit all the sense of doom from the world's level of damnation into one expression, but he confidently goes for it.
“GOD NO, did you ever believe that government could be honest?”
“Well...now that's just sad...” decides Tailgate ‘Something good was supposed to come out of this, right?”
Rewind raises a finger victoriously.
“Oh! There are no more incurable diseases! The placebo effect is the new big thing now that a bunch of people have gotten the ability to cure any illness at the snap of their fingers.”
Swerve nods, dangling his drink in his hands.
“There was a guy who claimed he had magic hands that cured everything and gathered a crowd of fanatical admirers around him. So...now his hands are really magic because his followers believe it. Crazy stuff...”
Tailgate puts his elbows on the table, propping his head up with his hands.
“So if I tell everyone I won a million dollars.....”
“I recommend--” Rewind waves his cup “...first make sure you're not wearing holey slippers.”
“Аh”
“That, and you'll need at least about a million people loving and supporting you wholeheartedly if you want this to work.”
“That's...a lot of people,” Tailgate groans.
Swerve shrugs
“That's why all the really cool stuff only goes to celebrities.”
_____
Tailgate cranes his neck curiously.
“Hey Swerve, while you went to place your order your phone started buzzing.”
Swerve falls back into his seat as fast as if he'd just decided the entire floor was lava and starts scrolling through notifications, cursing at spam and useless newsletters.
“When??”
“Just a couple minutes ago” shrugs Tailgate ”Are you expecting someone?”
“I'M...OH NO NO I'M JUST. Shit, wait a minute.”
Rewind leans over to Tailgate and smiles deviously, not even trying to pretend to whisper.
“He's stalking his celebrity crush.”
“That's not stalking!” resents Swerve ”I'm just worried.”
Rewind makes a gesture that looks vaguely apologetic and looks at Tailgate again.
“' Watching.
Swerve slides down the back of his chair slightly and tilts the phone toward Tailgate
“No, it's not him. He's the one in the blue suit on the left. And no, he's not dying. That bastard is impossible to kill.”
Tailgate lets out an understanding “ooh.”
“Although,” Swerve admits, “ Following him was a lot easier when he was driving cars instead of saving the world.”
He's been a Blurr fan for so long that it can probably be put on his resume already. He remembers watching the Iacon 5000 race with friends with Rewind starting to joke about how they should all bet on someone brand new this year. To fuel the fun, they sat down to pick candidates to bet on based solely on the color of their cars.
Swerve then poked his finger at a random bright blue car and said he'd bet on it because “blue is a fast color.”
Later, his friends would joke more than once that Swerve had the gift of prophecy that day. Because blue wasn't just fast. Oh, God. No. Blue turned out to be the absolute leader, dominating the race track from start to finish.
Swerve remembers vividly the first time he looked at a racer getting out of that car and thought “who the hell is that” and then immediately “how do I find his socials”.
The answer to the second question came quickly. The answer to the first...well. The guy, Blurr, soon turned out to be a faceless celebrity. Shining at numerous races, but never showing his face. Swerve highly doubts it's due to shyness, given...some character traits. (Swerve has a running theory, which is that ...Blurr has no shame. Even as a concept.) Probably just to keep his life anonymous and quiet, he believes.
It's understandable.
He's not judging. But he has to admit that a billion fanarts on what a face under a racing helmet could look like in theory...really...fuels his fantasy.
He's a very normal and sane fan. He tries very hard to be a normal fan and he's doing a great job at it. Maybe except for those moments when Blurr gets into another car accident. Lots of them. Lots and lots of bloody accidents actually and Swerve at first catches a micro heart attack every time he sees the news, but eventually he gets used to it. Blurr is incredibly resilient. And just as rich as well.
Swerve is used to hearing updates about another incident and then seeing Blurr back in the race a couple months later. Just as energetic, carefree, and frankly . Really handsome. As if nothing had happened. As if any danger would just bounce off him without leaving a dent.
It was familiar. It was habitual.
Until, of course, the universe started handing out faith magic to people. Until Blurr walked up to this imaginary box of lottery numbers and pulled out a ball that said “congratulations you're lucky now go and fucking die.”
Blurr is a racer. A damn good racer. Incredibly popular too. Of course his many fans who adore him beyond measure gave him a superpower.
Of course that power was speed.
Of course.
Blue is the color of speed. What else.
As a racer, Blurr is undefeatable.
As a superhero, ..
Swerve still thinks this guy is impossible to kill, but that doesn't mean he doesn't get worried every time he sees the news headlines and live feeds.
“You're alive” Springer states ”Literally how are you still alive?”
Blurr tilts his head because it's the only part of his body he can still move while trapped under ten tons of mangled steel from a Decepticon flying base falling out of the sky.
“Hello to you, too.”
Springer tentatively pulls the nearest sheet of metal and hums in satisfaction when he feels the structure is stable enough.
“Bleeding? Fractures?”
“I think my hair's ruined.”
“No one can even see your hair.”
“Doesn't mean I shouldn't care about it,” snorts Blurr
Springer tosses aside another piece of metal and reaches for his earpiece
“Smoke...? Nah...no really.....REALLY. ....No, you're not going to believe this. ......Aha, digging him out.” he looks away from the earpiece and leans over Blurr ‘Smokescreen wanted me to tell you that he's impressed and,... I quote ’personally saw that damn wagon fall right on your head'. He also wants to know if he needs to shoo away the paparazzi.”
Blurr tries to shrug but remembers in time that it's best not to fidget too much.
“Tell him I'll need a new suit. Let him keep everyone, I'm fine.”
“Literally...like...” barely audibly mutters Springer. “Like.h ow..”
Blurr smiles “My guardian angel is working overtime.”
Swerve takes a deep, nervous exhale, unhooking his fingers from the phone on which he's watching the live feed. Ah shit. Okay. Okay. Alive. Fine.
Rewind looks over his shoulder.
“Looking out for your pookie?”
“HE'S NOT MY
__________
Smokescreen stops right in the middle of an inspired argument with the advertisement agent when his side vision registers a flash of blue to the right of the entirely destroyed street.
“Blurr??”
“Oh, hey!” waves Blurr, “'Sup Smoke?”
The crumbled asphalt beneath his feet crunches softly. Just a few minutes ago, this street was a complete mayhem....
Smokescreen waves the clipboard in his direction
“I thought you had your head ripped off, you suicidal son of a bitch! Do you know how hard it was to calm your hysterical fans down??”
Blurr knows no one can see his face but rolls his eyes anyway. Almost immediately his brain tells him that this was a bad idea, sending a whole bunch of black spots in front of his eyes.
“Hey, you're getting paid for th...ugh...this.”
Blurr doesn't elaborate on the fact that he was sure he was going to be left headless today as well. One of the Overlord's freaking monster minions grabbed him and for a split second Blurr could swear he heard his own neck crunch.
He tries not to think about it.
The more he thinks about it, the less sense it will make.
The more he analyzes, the louder becomes the voice in the far corner of his head saying he should have been dead a long time ago.
A week ago when an entire air base fell on him. Three weeks ago during the battle with Menasor that practically broke his spine. Even earlier, when he was so busy evacuating hospital staff that he ended up being the only one present when that hospital exploded.
He's afraid that if he starts looking into the causes, this magical effect..this life-saving placebo will disappear.
He's convinced it's a placebo. It's the way this world works.
Someone out there must be doing some complex mental magic, keeping him more or less alive and whole and...Blurr is probably going a little crazy. Probably.
Maybe one of those many blows got him harder than he thought. Maybe it's his own self-confidence manifesting miracles of salvation one after another.
(It actually...doesn't sound that unbelievable. Blurr has a lot of belief in himself. Many people would say even too much. The question is whether it counts.)
(He prefers to think it counts.)
__________
Swerve sees red. Lots of it. LOTS of red.
More than he ever wanted to see in his life.
Uh-oh. That's not good.
His vision is blurring. His head buzzes with a nasty sharp static and his left shoulder hurts like a BITCH.
Above him is the flickering, faltering light of the bulb and below him is a growing puddle of his blood. His hair is wet and sticking to his face, making it hard to focus his already shaky gaze.
He makes an attempt to shift, but all it brings him is an explosion of pain.
Ugh.
Sirens are blaring outside, warning the public to evacuate. He's not really sure he can make out exactly what the sound is announcing. He has memorized all kinds of emergency alerts, but the thought escapes him.
What was it
Oh, yeah.
He's been shot.
He's been shot and he's probably going to die because everyone he knows is either too far away or busy evacuating. He vaguely hopes they'll remember about him.
Maybe only after getting to a safe place, but he'll take even that.
The red around him is getting bigger.
He tries to reach for his phone to...where is his phone? Did he leave it in the kitchen? He probably did. Swerve seemed to have no time to grab it when the entire building shook and ugly semi-mechanical monsters fell from the sky.
One of these monsters noticed Swerve just moments later and activated something resembling a cannon mounted in his hands. Swerve then looked at the glowing muzzle and thought that firing this thing would probably send his atoms so far away that his dna would be found on the moon. He could stick his hand down that gun barrel. And his hands are far from the smallest and most delicate hands you can find.
Why did this have to happen on a Saturday? Why not a day later or earlier? If it were any other day, Swerve would be at work right now. In a different place, with other people and probably with a much better chance of not being killed like a loser.
Not sure he wouldn't have been shot, but at least someone would have seen this and picked him up off the floor, put him in their pocket and taken him to the rescue.
Ugh.
He realizes that he closed his eyes at some point and hurriedly opens them. His expertise is by no means professional, but he is almost certain that that weapon wasn't ordinary. He has no idea what it means for him. Maybe he needs stitches, painkillers and a kiss and he'll be good as new. Or maybe it's like one of those films where you get hurt by an unknown creature and then you grab the sink in front of the mirror at midnight and watch the veins under your skin move on their own.
He doesn't feel shot, as silly as that sounds. He feels numb. Falling. Farther and farther away.
He is falling and falling as deep as he's ever fallen in his life. Maybe not as far as "got lost in the woods" far. No, more like " a coin dropped behind the fridge" far. It's not really about the distance but more about the feeling that he's never going to get out of here because no one ever looks in here.
He’s falling until the state of falling starts to register as a resting point, because that's the only variable he still feels. This corner he falls into is very deep and dark and dusty.
He doesn't remember to open his eyes again.
___________
Smokescreen sounds frankly hysterical, yelling at Blurr through his earpiece.
“I understand you like to show off, but you can't outrun a freaking tsunami?!?!”
Blurr only speeds up, “Watch."
“You cocky IDIOT this is suicide!”
“Relax Smoke” laughs Blurr ”You say that every time.”
The half-destroyed bridge shakes and sways like a wounded animal as the water from the overrunning sea crashes into it, gouging into the concrete and bending the metal.
The whole scene is...depressing. Water and debris everywhere and damn. This isn't the first time Blurr is witnessing a large-scale attack by the "forces of evil" as the hero agency likes to call them, but looking at the wrecked cars and scattered debris doesn't get any easier with time. Maybe it just hasn't been long enough. Who knows.
Springer doesn't look like he is bothered by it. But Springer also has a lot more experience being a superhero. With his skill at giving out smiles and encouragement in absolutely any situation, not many can compete.
Blurr certainly can't. In fact. He's got a face with subtitles that turn on in almost any stressful situation. Wearing a mask is probably one of the best things he can do to calm down any random civilians waiting for him to save the day. If they can't see him making panicked grimacing eyes, they'll be feeling much better.
A few more seconds and he's on the collapsing bridge. The people stuck on it look hysterical and bruised, but no one seems injured, so it shouldn't be difficult.
Blurr's plan is simple. Get all the people out of the disaster's path. Then get yourself out. Easy.
Easy?
He can pinpoint the exact moment when something goes wrong.
It's the second that a crooked, hideous-looking monster grabs his leg and pulls him underwater. The second when Blurr fights it with all his might and realizes with sudden horror that his strength isn't enough. That he is. Not enough.
His lungs burn, begging him to take a breath and he doesn't even know which way is the surface because all there is around him is the dark, black, cold pressure of water. It's clinging to him, seeping through his suit, his hair, burning his eyes and making his fingers go numb. It's pulling him somewhere, and he's obeying whether he wants to or not.
His spine prickles with panic.
His personal miracle. His damn magic or guardian angel or cursed luck or whatever the hell it was called. That thing that was always there to catch him like in that game of trust fall. He'd gotten so used to it's presence, he began to take it for granted.
Like the air you trust to be there every time you need to take your next breath.
And right now?
It's not here.
His body takes a convulsive breath and finds nothing but water.

Sukuna had always prided himself on being somewhat of a good actor, or at the very least masking his emotions better than anyone else. From a young age he learned the hard way that his emotions were to be suppressed, he wasn’t supposed to feel anything but anger and frustration.
He can still remember his mothers disgusted face when Sukuna had taken barely a week to conform to the new rules set on him, distaste weighing heavy in her mouth as she pushed him away from her embrace.
“Don’t ever try that with me, Ryoumen. You will regret it.”
Her indifferent tone hit him like a bucket of cold water. The man couldn’t remember what happened next, Jin rushing in and comforting his younger twin as Sukuna held back tears.
That’s why he finds himself plastering a business smile on his face, masking the shock with a charming smile as he extended one arm out to Aoi, the other coming to wrap around your waist and pulling you closer,
“Ah it is good to meet you too…?”
He paused, letting Aoi introduce herself, shaking Sukuna’s hand with enthusiasm.
You quickly interjected before Aoi could go any further than her name and occupation, wrapping an arm around Sukuna’s and making up some excuse to pull him away from the sea of onlookers,
“I didn’t know you were going around telling other people I was your husband?”
Though Sukuna sounded offended, he was nothing but relieved. His eyes trailed down to the chain on your neck, a simple golden ring glinting in the morning sunlight. It felt like a heavy weight had been pulled off his chest. His arm dropped from your shoulder to the small of your back, resting comfortably like it did years ago.
“That’s not- I haven’t been telling anyone you are my husband, it’s a simple misunderstanding,”
Sukuna hummed, high on the euphoria of the thought that you had no husband to be paying any actual attention to the words stumbling from your mouth.
“Whatever you say wife,”
He smirked, feeling far too happy for himself as he turned his head to look at you, eyes gleaming in happiness.
“That’s not the point- oh god you’re just so!”
That fond feeling rose up in Sukuna’s chest as he watched you fuss over the situation, freeing yourself from his grasp as you walked up the sidewalk faster.
Sukuna merely took longer strides to catch up with you, eating the distance up in a few seconds as his hand wrapped around your elbow, tugging you away from the curb and claiming the space you left.
The action made you flush, highschool feelings returning all at once at the sweet gesture. So many people asked you what you saw in Sukuna, some even straight up asked you if you were being held hostage. They just didn’t know about your Sukuna, they didn’t know about how sickeningly sweet he treated you.
He’s not even on social media, neither does he even know about the pathway rule but it’s ingrained in him to look after you, to make sure you were the most comfortable at any place. Maybe that’s why it’s so hard to let go of him after all these years.
“Where did you even find out that I have a husband?”
Sukuna turned his head to look at you, almost pouting as his eyebrows furrowed together opening his mouth just as you opened the door to the bakery.
“Let’s talk inside your house,”
He mumbled under his breath, making you pause as you sighed, flipping the sign on the glass doors of the bakery to display closed.
Sukuna sat quietly at your dining table, no longer awkwardly trying to fit himself in the cramped space, instead just staring at the tiny piece of furniture like it had personally insulted him.
You whipped a few more pancakes, making sure to reduce the sugar content just like how the CEO liked it, placing a few berries on top along with a cup of black coffee. You were surprised he didn’t blow up on you without his daily fix- then again you suppose you wouldn’t know a lot of things about him, not after all this time.
Sukuna eyed the pancakes with a hungry look, scarfing them down as you watched him amused, a smile tugging at the corner of your lips,
“Is Uraume not cooking for you anymore?”
Sukuna glared at you, gulping down mouthfuls of the scalding coffee as he wiped his mouth with a napkin,
“Nah they’re working at some fuckass restaurant, just been a while since I had your food,”
Sukuna continued eating his pancakes without a care in the world, like him saying that sentence didn’t have a million thoughts swirling in your head,
He missed me..
You thought to yourself, looking down at the cup of coffee in your own hands, twirling the cup so the liquid was sloshing around inside the ceramic.
“Where did you get the information that I had a husband?”
You peeked through your lashes watching Sukuna finish the pancakes and the rest of the coffee. He looked like he was struggling to get the words out, licking over his lower lip and pressing his thumb to his temple as he was left in deep thought.
Under his lip was the light pink stain of a strawberry and you instinctively reached over to wipe at with your thumb, eyes widening as Sukuna’s own shocked gaze met yours,
“Oh uhm- Hana- she gets messy- so I,”
You pulled your hands back, immediately going to explain with a flustered expression while Sukuna started barking out in laughter. You glared at him with a pout, sitting back in your seat white your arms crossed under your chest,
Sukuna stopped laughing, wiping away imaginary tears as he took another napkin, wiping his mouth with it as he grinned at you. He then crumbled up the tissue in his hand, looking out at the balcony that was a few steps away from the dining room with a complicated expression.
“I guess you deserve to know what really happened back then,”
When Sukuna finally came home after five long weeks of not seeing you, he made a beeline for your room, then your shared bedroom, then the kitchen, then the specialized baking room he had built for you, then the living rooms followed by all the washrooms and guest bedrooms.
His heart was thumping irregularly in his heart, body drenched in cold sweat when he sent a thousand missed calls only to  find your phone abandoned  on the dining room table.
His head chanted your name like a mantra, like it would suddenly make you appear in front of him. A few days passed by where he didn’t really move from the house, praying to the gods out there that you were safe and would come back home.
Uraume stayed over with him for a few weeks, cleaning up after his messes and cooking for him. They got to work immediately, slowly removing the traces of you that were left behind, pacing them all into a box and storing it in the attic lest Sukuna find them and go on a witch hunt.
Sukuna had already established himself in the company- he had a few more fuckers to send to the afterlife and he could finally stop these month long trips away from you. He had officially been recognized as the CEO by all the board members, a velvet box tucked into his pocket when he came home, just for the ring to be discarded in one of his bedside drawers.
He waited for a grueling three months before he decided enough was enough and hired people to go look for you. What he got in return was photos of you with an obvious baby bump, a man helping you walk with a hand on your back, smiling at each other like you were a lovesick couple. His ring was glinting in the light, both of you disappearing into the bakery as the man held open the door for you.
Sukuna felt his heart stop, dread crawling up every blood vessel, scalding and freezing him at the same time. He crumpled the photo in his hand, frozen in place as he felt his head go blank.
Uraume watched him with a careful eye, ripping the photo from his hand and frowning at the sight,
“Sukuna-”
The CEO held up a hand, chair screeching as he got up from his office chair, effectively silencing Uraume as they pocketed the photo.
“Get a new place for me. I will move in by tonight,”
You were silent when Sukuna finished his story, red eyes glancing at you every now and then at you as you picked at your nails,
“I was never married, I- there's been no one, not after you..”
Sukuna nodded, eerily quiet as he scratched at a sticker on the dining table, trying to scrape it off with his nail.
“The man you saw, I think you mean my cousin. He’s married, three kids and all- Hana plays with them,”
You finally looked up, meeting Sukuna’s gaze as you continued, voice feeling far too raw and much too exposed. You took a deep breath, calming yourself
“I would never-,”
You shook your head, biting your lip as you scowled at the mere thought,
“I would never cheat on you- Ryo you meant far too much for me to even think of that-,”
Sukuna cut you off, voice unnaturally cold as he spoke, you wondered how long it had been since you heard that tone directed to you,
“Why didn’t you reach out,”
You took another long breath, looking down at your hands and then the worn out house.
“I was hoping you’d have moved on. I don't know- I hoped you would have found someone better, not someone like me. It was obvious that your board didn’t approve of me and I just-” I felt like you were holding yourself back for me, you were doing things you didn’t have to- just for me and that scared me. I never thought I’d have become the coward in our relationship. I just craved when we didn’t have to think so much just to be together. I was scared you wouldn’t want Hana even though I did. Maybe I was trying to fill in the hole you left when you went on those week-long missions, I was scared- I was just so scared Ryo.
You wondered why the words you wanted to say didn’t come out, stuck in your throat like it was held down by cement, weighing heavy on your chest. The hurt of those unspoken phrases was far more than you thought them to be. The words swirled in your head, your mouth pulled to a thin line as you stopped talking,
“I got rid of them all.”
Sukuna finally spoke, getting up from his chair and pulling his seat closer to you,
“Huh?”
Your voice squeaked out and Sukuna had a crazed grin on his face, cradling your face with his hand, thumb brushing over your cheekbones,
“Every fucker that didn’t approve of you- thats why I left for so long,” You felt like time had stopped again, it was just you both again and it was like you were in his college dorm room again, cleaning up the cuts he got from punching a guy who was talking behind your back.
“I promised I’d protect you, didn’t I?”
Sukuna leaned in closer, pressing his forehead against yours as his breath fanned against your face. You leaned into his hand unconsciously, biting your lip as tears streamed down your face.
“Ryo I’m sorry- I’m so sorry, I just didn’t realize what I had done and by the time it was too late and I didn’t have the courage to face you-”
Sukuna shushed you, pressing his lips to yours in one go. He tasted like pancaked and salty tears and nostalgia all at once. He pulled away staring into your eyes as he wiped away your tears,
“Stop crying you baby,”
Sukuna teased, pulling you closer by your shoulders and enveloping you in a hug.
Sukuna and You stayed like that for a while, hugging each other till Sukunas back started to ache and he pulled you into his lap, resting head on your shoulder as he mumbled reassurances into your ear.
“So why are you going around telling people you have a husband?”
You stilled in Sukunas arms, pausing for a second before you continued.
“Didn’t want people prying into Hana’s life and teasing her. She already gets into so much trouble for fighting with the boys in her class. Honestly I don’t know how she even learned how to fight,”
Sukuna chuckles, his laughter settling deep into your bones as you let yourself enjoy the timbre of his voice,
“That’s my girl.”
You rolled your eyes, scoffing as you got up from his lap and looking at the time,
“Don’t you have work?”
You asked raising a brow at the carefree man,
“Nah I’m letting the Gojo handle it for now heh, took a week off too”
You smiled, Sukuna was having far too much fun relaxing around in your home. You started your way up the stairs, glancing back to see Sukuna on his heels trailing after you like a big tiger.
“Well I’m going to get to work then,”
Sukuna caught up with you on the top of the stairs, twisting you around to face him as his hands rested comfortably on your hips, rubbing smooth circles.
“We’re not done talking though are we?”
You stopped, averting your gaze as you avoided speaking on the topic. Sukunas hand came to rest above your collarbones, twisting the ring on your chain and tugging it off you,
“When are you going to tell the kid?”
You sighed, pulling Sukunas hands away from you, he looked dejected for a second, immediately masking his emotions as he took a step forward, bending his neck to look at you  properly, hands fisting at his sides,
“Are you trying to run away again pet?”
You shook your head, words dancing around in your mouth as you bit your tongue, hands resting on Sukunas arms as you tried to comfort him,
“With Hana, we should take things slow, she’s never asked me about her dad. She's kind of perceptive- never been one to pry about the stuff I didn’t like,”
Sukunas jaw ticked and he glared at the floor, pulling away from you this time.
“What- what about us,”
He called out your name when you didn't respond, adam’s apple bobbing in his throat as he stared at you longingly,
“Sukuna-”

DP x DC Prompt: The New Teacher
(So, I've seen a lot of prompts that have Danny go to Gotham and be a teacher but I don't remember seeing any with it in this direction, so on the chance that this is an original idea here we go!)
Jason was given a choice, or multiple choices. Babysit the Replacement on a mission that could last a week, go to Bludhaven and have some 'brother bonding time' with Dick who needed backup on a big case, or take a temp solo-gig in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere called Amity Park.
Well, considering he was still a bit hurt about the fact that B replaced him all those years ago and the pit loved to grab hold of that bit of frustrations towards his younger brother, that didn't seem like a smart idea. Dick wasn't an option either because he knew that would lead to 'talking about feelings' and other shit that he didn't want to do.
So he took the solo-gig.
It was supposed to be easy, at least that's what had been implied by the others he'd spoken to about the case. It seemed like most of the Justice League thought this situation was being 'exaggerated' because most of the time when somebody checked out what was going on there was nothing happening. No big take over, or kidnapping, or 'end of the world' situation, but there had been too many calls to put Bruce's mind at ease. The frequent calls mixed with the fact that the Government apparently had the area under a 'black out' made Bruce even more nervous.
Hell, if it hadn't been for the fact that Bruce was famous and that Scarecrow, Penguin and Riddler had all escaped from Arkham he would have been doing the case himself.
Which is how Jason ended up in a restraunt named 'Nasty Burger' looking at the news papers he had managed to get from a stand down the street while taking notes of things he had already seen. It wasn't just that the Government had cut them off, all of the tech in the city was easily 20 years outdated compared to the rest of the world.
Nokia phones, chunky computers, hell he'd even seen a kid with a PDA of all things. Thankfully, it looked like his tech still worked other than running slower than it should have, but thanks to modifications made by Barbara and Tim things were running better than he expected. But, they did struggle to have access to anything, specifically the news.
Hence the paper.
Ghost Boy: Friend or Fiend. A new vote cast by the city has found that the Ghost Boy - Danny Phantom - has had an astounding rise in support after the events over the Christmas Holiday. The new polls suggest that 43% of Citizens support Danny Phantom, with the majority of his support coming from the students at Casper High who insist that Phantom is a hero who has saved them countless times over the past few months. 49% of people still agree, however, that Phantom appears to be at the center of the majority of the attacks with many still claiming that he is the sole cause of the attacks. However, 8% of the population remain undecided, including many teachers, police and hospital staff. Upon seeing the new results of the pole Mayor Montez had this to say; "While I will admit that Phantom appears to favor the younger generation and frequently seems to come to their aid, we cannot forget what it has done in the past. Taken hostages, injured innocents, and caused millions in property damage. Phantom may not be a 'villain' in the typical sense of the word, but we shouldn't blindly trust him just because of a few good deeds."
So there was a... hero? Half hero - potentially villain - in Amity Park? That might have explained some of the calls they'd gotten from Amity park over the past few months. Still, he was concerned by some parts of the report.
Students at a high school were frequently coming under attack? So much that this potential-villain kept saving them? Just what was the cause? What could cause so many issues?
Jason looked up as he saw that same PDA kid talking with a girl with short black hair in a half-ponytail who was wearing a black crop-top. The girl seemed annoyed while the boy seemed worried about something.
"But it's Vlad, Sam... what if he does something?" He heard the boy whisper, "We should go back him up..."
"He doesn't need our help, besides Jazz ran away from home, remember? She got herself into this mess it's her problem to get out of it. Something that Danny should have learned a long time ago."
Jason frowned, pretending not to hear them as he hesitated then got up and walked over to the two younger teens. "Hey, excuse me."
The girl looked annoyed and suspicious while the boy looked confused.
"Uh, yeah?" Tucker asked.
"Hey, sorry to bug you both. But could you guys tell me about this... 'Danny Phantom' person?" He asked, holding the newspaper out.
The girl looked even more suspicious, "And... who are you?"
"And how haven't you heard of Phantom?" Asked the boy.
"I just moved to town." Jason admitted, rubbing the back of his neck. "So, I'm just trying to catch up on all the town drama."
"You moved to Amity Park... willingly? Psh, what do you have, a deathwish?" The girl grumbled.
"Come on, I just moved from Gotham, which is worse?"
The girl blinked as the boy laughed.
"Furries vs Ghosts, who will win~" He said as the girl elbowed him. "Ow! What?!"
"Danny Phantom is a hero." The girl explained, "He showed up in April and has been protecting the town since."
"A hero, huh? Could always use more of those in the world, but the mayor seems to have it out for him."
Tucker sighed, "No kidding, man. Somebody framed Phantom for something really bad and no matter what he does to try to fix it the city just see's that incident as the only thing he's ever done. It was the first big 'public thing' outside of the high school so it was huge but it wasn't his fault."
The girl reached for her phone suddenly, looking at it before she answered. "Hey, Danny. What's up?" She was quiet for a moment, "Yeah, we're at Nasty Burger, wanna join us? Lunch on me?"
A quiet mumble came through the speaker before she smirked.
"I'll order for you then. Double or triple?"
More mumbles.
"Triple it is. See you soon." She said, then hung up. "Come on, Tuck, Danny is on his way for lunch."
"Hell yeah, see you later, dude." The boy said, then jogged off with the girl.
"A teacher? Yeah, it looks like there's some openings but why would you want to have your cover as a teacher?" Oracle asked as Jason sat in his hotel room, looking through the paper again.
"Most of the incidents seem to surround the High School, I want to see what's going on."
Oracle hummed, typing for a moment. "Alright, well as luck will have it, it looks like teachers are sparse at Amity High, at least from what I'm able to get using your connection... which is infuriatingly slow, by the way, are you sure you did it right?"
"I've done it a million times, of course I did it right."
Oracle grumbled, "Stupid Amity black-out. Okay, so you have options. Most of the teachers have fucked off so all of the teachers in Freshmen year switch around to cover lessons or do mixed lessons. For example the English teacher also teaches Math and the normal Math teacher also teaches Science. So it looks like you could have any position you want and the school would just shuffle around the teachers."
"You said English is taken, right?"
"Yep, the teacher is named William Lancer and he- oh... wait, he's on a leave of absence due to injuries he suffered over Christmas Break. Concussion, broken arm, and bruised ribs, he'll be out for a few weeks."
Jason smirked, "Perfect. Sign me up."
". . . Jason, the English and Math teacher... never thought I'd see the day. Alright, I'll type up your application, send it in and casually push it to the front of the line. You'll be official by the time Winter Break ends in a few days. So get studying."
"Sounds like a plan, but I'll be fine, I mean our family is crazy and i deal with criminals on a nightly basis. How hard could this assignment really be?"
He would regret asking that question by the end of his first day as an Amity High School teacher.

Fandom: Marvel
Pairing: Joaquin Torres x F!Reader
Summary: You and Joaquin don't get along. He doesn't take things seriously and he think you don't loosen up. Well now you two are paired up on a mission and, well, it doesn't go well.
prompt #1457
“Have your eyes always looked like that?”
“Excuse me?”
“You know, the purple color… and like the pretty specks? I’ve never seen someone with eyes like you.”
“You think they’re pretty?” from @writers-are-writers
Warning: mentions of experimentation on a minor
Joaquin Torres Masterlist
Tumblr media
Like many enhanced individuals, your backstory isn't sunshine and rainbows. You were a teenager when you got sick and you dad was desperate. After losing your mom, he couldn't bare to lose you. So when someone at the hospital said they could help you for free, your father immediately jumped at the chance.
Turns out, they were rogue doctors messing with otherworldly substances, trying to create the ultimate cure. They injected you with the "cure" and, while it did take away your sickness, it gave you purple eyes and dangerous powers.
The doctors convinced your dad to let them keep you, under the guise of making sure your sickness doesn't come back. In reality, they started to train you. They poked and prodded and pushed you to your limits until you couldn't take it anymore.
When you finally escaped, you tried to look for your father. Turns out, he was killed because he saw and knew too much.
"He was collateral damage," one doctor rasped out before you snapped his neck with your mind.
Now you're an adult. You've done some pretty shitty things in order to live, but now you're making up for it. Hence why you're now working with Captain America and his sidekick, The Falcon.
"Amethyst, you and Joaquin take the lower levels. I'll take the upper levels."
"Copy that," you grumble through your comms and follow Joaquin up various flights of stairs, checking each floor for any hostages or hostiles.
"I think I know why they call you Amethyst."
"Oh really?" you ask in a deadpan tone.
"It's 'cause of your eyes, right?" you don't answer him, instead keeping your dagger filled hands up in defense, "That's totally it right? I mean, it's kinda obvious now that I think about it. Originally I thought it meant you would should like crystals out of your hands or something. But then I read your file-"
You snap your head towards him, your purple eyes practically glowing in the dim light, "You read my file?"
He shrugs, "Background checks," he says nonchalantly as he inspects every room on the left.
You continue to search the rooms on the right, "So you saw the notes about how I was experimented on as a kid and trained to use my powers for evil?"
"I-Yeah."
"And did you see what the project was called in regards to me?"
"...Was it Amethyst?"
You pause and look and look at him, "It was. Because of the amethyst colored liquid they pumped me with that gave me my powers and changed the color of my eyes. If you're going to read up on me, at least read everything. I'd rather have that than you come up with shitty theories." You continue to search, eventually reaching the end of the hall.
"I was just trying to make conversation."
"It's not the time for that, Torres. Read the fucking room. We're trying to save lives and you wanna do ice breakers?"
"I'm just trying to lighten the mood!"
You scoff, "That's the problem with you! You never take things seriously! You always make light of a situation!"
"Maybe because you're so fucking serious that it dampens everyone's mood!"
"Well sorry for being so serious when it comes to people's lives! At least one of us cares about them!"
"And there you go, twisting my words to make me sound like a dick!"
"Because you are one! And you-"
Something whizzes past your ear and lands in Joaquin's chest.
"Shit!" you cry out and immediately turn. Your eyes glow a bright purple as you lift the assailant with your mind and throw them up to the ceiling and let them fall.
They groan and you lift them to the ceiling, letting them fall again. This time no sound comes from them and they remain still.
You turn back to Joaquin and assess him. A pink and red arrow is sticking out from his chest, "What the fuck?" you murmur to yourself.
A sheen of sweat is forming over Joaquin's face, "What's your verdict?"
You immediately call Sam on comms, "Sam? Sam! Joaquin's hit. A hostile got the jump on us."
"Shit, is he okay?"
"He got shot in the chest with...a pink and red arrow."
"What? You know what doesn't matter. I'm on my way. Hang tight."
"We're on level three."
"Copy that. See you in a bit and keep Joaquin awake."
"Got it," you clear the comms and put your attention back on Joaquin, "How're you feeling?"
He gives a lazy grin, "You called me Joaquin."
"That's your name."
"Yeah, but you always call me Torres. My name sounds good coming from your lips."
You cock a brow at him, "Uuuhh okay?"
“Have your eyes always looked like that?” he asks, slowly pointing to them.
“Excuse me?”
“You know, the purple color… and like the pretty specks? I’ve never seen someone with eyes like you.”
“You think they’re pretty?”
"Yeah. Like you. You're...so pretty."
You immediately call Sam back on comms, "Where the fuck are you? Torres is getting delirious!"
"Incoming!" Sam yells as he flies through a window. You shield yourself and Joaquin from any glass.
Sam retracts his wings and rushes to Joaquin, "Oh shit. How are you feeling, kid?"
Joaquin looks up at him with a sort of hazy look in his eyes, "Isn't Amethyst pretty? Her eyes. Her smile."
"See what I mean?" you gesture to the fallen Falcon.
"Alright, c'mon, kid. Let's get you looked at," you help Sam bring Joaquin into his arms.
"Don't touch the arrow. It was probably laced with some sort of drug."
"Right. Got it. Let's go. Redwing cleared the other levels. We're good. The others will take care of the rest."
You follow him out of the building and the waiting med truck that take him and rush him to the nearest hospital.
___________________________
Even though you and Joaquin don't get along, you still worry for him. You hoped the arrow didn't hit anything vital, you hoped whatever drug that was in his system didn't kill him. You hoped he'd get out alive because, sure, he was annoying and happy all the time, but it was a little refreshing. Refreshing to see someone not drowning darkness and despair like you are.
You're in the waiting room with Sam sitting in silence. Your leg is bouncing and your mind is all over the place. When you start to spiral, things in the room start floating and Sam has to nudge you to bring you back.
"Sorry."
"It's okay...honestly, it's good to see you worry about him. Thought you hated him," Sam says with a smirk.
You roll your eyes, "I don't hate him. I just...find him annoying sometimes...and too cheery, and so unserious. Honestly-"
Sam holds a hand up, "I get it. He can be a lot sometimes, but give him a break. He's young."
"So am I."
"True, but not all of us are hardened by our hardships."
You snort, "Not yet. You're getting there, though," you playfully nudge his knee with yours.
"Captain?" a doctor calls for Sam and you and he stand.
"How is he?"
"He'll recover, from the wound at least. It didn't penetrate deep or hit any vital organs or arteries. But whatever that arrow was laced with, it's something we don't have in our database."
"Did you save the arrow?"
"Yes," the doctor hands Sam the bagged arrow.
"Thank you. Are we free to see him?"
"Yes, but we'll keep him here for a seventy-two hour hold just to make sure whatever he was laced with doesn't give him lasting affects." The doctor then looks at you, "I'm assuming you're Amethyst?"
You look at her suspiciously, "Yes, why?"
She chuckles, "He's been asking for you. I'm sure he'll be very happy to see you."
"Oh, uh, thanks," you give her a polite smile and follow Sam down the hall to Joaquin's room.
Sam enters first and you stay by the door, "You get knocked down and you get back up again. Maybe we should change your name to Phoenix instead of Falcon. Always rising from the ashes."
Joaquin chuckles, "Nah. I'll stick with Falcon." He turns his head towards you and his smile grows, "Hey gorgeous. What're you doing all the way over there?"
You let out a tired sigh, "And the drugs haven't worn off yet."
"What drugs?"
"The drugs that are making you talk nonsense."
Joaquin frowns, "I'm not talking nonsense. You are gorgeous. You're also smart and witty and-"
You interrupt him, "Joaquin, we don't get along. We can barely stand being around each other for a minute without arguing."
He shrugs, "All couples argue."
You laugh in disbelief, "We aren't a couple."
"Oh...wanna be?" he gives you a smirk and a cocked brow.
Sam holds in a laugh, "Alright, Romeo, why don't you rest up and heal first before you go all Mr. Romantic?"
Joaquin looks at you with hopeful eyes, "Will you stay with me until I fall asleep?"
You really want to say 'no'. You're tired and sweaty and don't think you can stand hearing Joaquin flirt with you more. It's so...unlike him. But then Sam gives you a look that basically says, 'You better say 'yes' or else', and it makes you grit your teeth.
"Fine," you murmur and Joaquin settles further into the bed, "Awesome."
It takes two hours for Joaquin to fall asleep. Despite you wanting to leave earlier, you feel bad for doing now. So you decide to stay back and keep him company throughout the night.
______________________
When you wake, you see Sam standing over you with arms crossed over his chest and a smirk on his face.
You groan as you sit up, stretching your arms and legs, "Don't. I just felt bad leaving him."
"Whatever you say," he responds with a chuckle.
Joaquin eventually stirs awake, "Hey."
You stand up and get some distance to stretch out your body. Sam takes up your spot, "How're you feeling, Casanova?"
Joaquin looks at his mentor confused, "Casanova?"
Sam chuckles, "Yeah. You were hit with Cupid's Bow and was trying to wine and dine, Miss Dark Cloud over here all night."
You roll your eyes, "Leave him alone, Sam. He was drugged. He didn't mean anything by it."
Joaquin sits up, rubbing the sleep from his eyes, "What'd I say?"
"You were calling her pretty, asking her out. Really laying on the charm."
"Oh...sorry," he says, shyly looking at you.
You shrug, "I know you didn't mean it."
"I...But I do think you're pretty," he looks at you, no hint of sarcasm or joking behind them.
You suddenly feel very warm, "Oh, uh, thanks. I-I guess." You look away, "I'm going to get the doctor so they can check up on you," you hastily exit the room, trying to calm your racing heart. Just yesterday, you would've scoffed and told Joaquin to fuck off. But...But now why are you suddenly okay with him thinking you're pretty? Maybe you got some of the drug in your system through second-hand or something....
Joaquin slumps in his bed, scolding himself for making you uncomfortable, last night and now. He sighs and looks at Sam, "So...cupid's arrow? That's what you're calling it?"
"I mean it was pink and red and it made you all lovey dovey. Tell me, what else would you call that?!"

There are pieces of science-fiction/fantasy media where you can basically project what the cast dynamic would look like in an AU that strips out the explicitly supernatural stuff, because the underlying emotional beats in canon were either disconnected from the supernatural stuff, or fancified versions of a comparatively mundane dynamic. For example, Steven Universe has an enormous number of AU fanworks predicated on the fact that the core cast consists of a queer friend group trying, with mixed success, to take care of the son of one of their deceased members while wrestling with the shape of the group dynamic in her absence, and dealing with the fallout of said deceased Friend’s dirty laundry. This is true well before you get into the fact they’re also aliens and the kid is space Jesus, and I think you could get a fair distance into rewriting the whole show into a mundane slice of life thing like Clarence without hitting serious problems.
On the other hand, you have a lot of science-fiction/fantasy media where the cast dynamic in a No-powers AU is extremely difficult to extrapolate because the fantastic elements of the setting are baked into their characterization at a deep enough level that trying to extricate it is like trying to get the chocolate chips out  of a cookie. Anakin Skywalker comes to mind. Child-Slave-turned-space-jesus-slash-military-commander while being groomed by Space-Hitler-Satan. An extremely specific, non-fungible, totally-over-the-top set of life-circumstances, consequentially somewhat difficult to transpose into a more mundane context. You can model facets of it, sure. But the whole of his situation is so suffused with 20s-radio-play melodrama that it’s harder to capture the arc with stakes lower than those in canon. Canon Anakin is the most distilled possible version of Anakin.
Worm falls in the middle. On the one hand, it’s very, very easy to extrapolate what the main cast’s lives would have looked like if they’d never gotten powers, if they’d just stayed mundane teenagers- you just have the exact same horrible shit happen to them but they don’t get powers from it. Taylor keeps muddling on through the bullying but without the escape valve of costumed heroism, Brian tries to maintain custody of his sister, Lisa, Alec and Rachel as runaways under pretty similar circumstances to canon. These are setting-agnostic and fairly easy to transpose.
On the other hand, the thing about the Undersiders’ canon dynamic is that they only exist as a group because they were each abruptly made non-fungible- thrust from the no-powers-AU of their own lives into the genre fiction version, where they’re individually powerful and useful enough to be worth bankrolling or taking hostage or whatever else. The book is in large part about how the superpowered runaround monopolizes your “mundane” life and eats you alive from the inside out; it’s a refutation of the once-common superhero trope of being able to keep the two tracks of your life separate for any serious length of time, which in turn becomes an unintentional implicit refutation of the similar logic undergirding mundane AUs, the idea that there’s a recognizable version of a superhero that can be meaningfully separated from all the insane stuff that happens to them. Worm, accordingly, ends with the protag getting actually literally shunted into a No-Powers AU and being somewhat at a loss as to how to rebuild her identity in the absence of the genre elements that swallowed the last two years of her life. Who are you, outside of being a superhero? Well, for starters, you’re the woman who used to be a superhero. Good luck at the coffee shop!

As the soft light of dawn filtered through the curtains, the Bradford household stirred with the promise of a new day. The aroma of brewing coffee mingled with the gentle sounds of morning chatter as you and Tim bustled around the kitchen, preparing for the day ahead.
Evan, your bright-eyed three-year-old, bounced around the room with infectious energy, his laughter filling the air. Tim knelt down, scooping his son up into his strong arms, showering him with tickles and kisses.
"Hey there, little man," he chuckled, his voice infused with affection. "What adventures are you up today?"
Evan giggled gleefully, wrapping his tiny arms around his father's neck. His response was a jumble of words, excitement evident despite his struggles with forming coherent sentences. "Catch the bad guys like mommy and daddy!"
Tim chuckled, planting a gentle kiss on Evan's cheek. "That's right, buddy. Just like Mommy and Daddy" he said, his voice gentle as he tousled Evan's hair affectionately. "But first, how about some superhero breakfast?"
Tim's presence seemed to illuminate the room even more. He approached you with a tender smile, his eyes reflecting the depth of his love as he enveloped you in his embrace. His arms wrapped around you securely, a comforting shield against any worries or doubts.
"Morning, baby," his voice, like a soothing melody, whispered into your ear, sending shivers of warmth down your spine. "How are my two favorite girls this morning?"
In that moment, as his hand brushed over your bump with such tender care, you felt an overwhelming rush of love and gratitude for the man standing before you. Tim's gaze lingered on you, his eyes filled with an unspoken promise of unwavering support and devotion.
"We're doing great," you replied, leaning into his embrace, savoring the feeling of being held so close.
Tim pressed a gentle kiss to your temple, his lips lingering there for a moment as if to convey all the love he felt. "You look absolutely radiant," he murmured, his voice filled with awe and admiration. "I swear, every day you glow even more."
As Tim settled Evan into his chair, you couldn't help but admire the sight before you. Tim embodied strength and tenderness in equal measure. Dressed casually, his rugged charm shone through effortlessly. With every movement, his love for you and your son was evident, his hands deftly helped Evan eat breakfast while his eyes sparkled with warmth. Watching him with Evan, you couldn't help but feel a wave of adoration for the man who filled your home with love and security.
"Uh-oh. We have a problem," you announced, your voice tinged with concern as you glanced down at your phone. "Nanny just texted me. She can't make it today."
Tim's brow furrowed slightly as he considered the situation, his mind already working on a solution. "What about your mom?" he suggested. "Can't she babysit Evan today?"
You shook your head regretfully, a sigh escaping your lips. "I don't think so. She's outside LA now," you explained, your thoughts racing to find an alternative. "Maybe your sister?"
At the mention of Genny, Tim's expression darkened slightly, "No, custody battle today," he murmured, his voice tinged with a hint of worry. "We'll figure something out, baby. Don't worry."
As you and Tim exchanged worried glances, Evan piped up from his seat, his innocent voice breaking the tension in the room. "Mommy, Daddy, no worry," he declared, his eyes wide with determination. "Evan help!"
Tumblr media
You stepped into the familiar hustle and bustle of the station and Evan's eyes widened in wonder at the sight of officers in their crisp uniforms bustling about their duties. With a gleeful tug on Tim's hand, he eagerly dashed around, taking in every detail with unbridled enthusiasm.
"Daddy, look! Cops!" Evan exclaimed, his words a jumble of excitement as he pointed at the officers. "Lots and lots!"
Tim chuckled softly, his heart swelling with pride at his son's eagerness. "That's right, buddy," he affirmed, his voice warm with affection. "This is where mommy and daddy work, with all their friends."
Your son darted around, his boundless energy matched only by his excitement, he greeted each familiar face with enthusiasm, his words a mixture of gibberish and genuine attempts at conversation.
"Hi, Lulu!" Evan exclaimed, flashing Lucy a toothy grin as he reached up to give her a high-five.
Lucy laughed, her eyes crinkling at the corners with amusement. "Hi there, little buddy! If it isn't our favourite visitor!" she replied, returning the high-five with a gentle pat on the head. "You've grown so much since the last time we saw you!"
Evan beamed at the attention, his chest swelling with pride. "I big boy!" he declared proudly, his words punctuated by a triumphant grin.
Next, Evan turned his attention to Angela, his eyes alight with recognition. "Hi, Auntie Angie!" he chirped, reaching out to tug on her sleeve.
Angela's heart melted at the endearing nickname, her smile softening as she crouched down to Evan's level. "Hey, champ," she said, ruffling his hair affectionately. "He's the spitting image of his mother." she said to Lucy, shooting you a playful wink.
Evan beamed at the praise, his chest puffing out with pride. "I grow big like Daddy!" he declared, his words filled with confidence.
Nyla and Nolan watched the exchange with fond amusement, their own smiles widening as Evan made his rounds. You watched your son with amusement, glad he's terrorising your friends and gave you and your husband a moment to catch your breath.
"Don't forget Nyla and John." Evan eagerly nodded at your words, making his way to Nyla first.
She joined in, her face breaking into a wide smile as she crouched down to Evan's level. "Hey there, buddy! You remember my name?" she extended her hand for a handshake.
Evan shook her hand vigorously, his eyes shining with excitement. "You Nyla! I Evan, I help mommy and daddy catch bad guys!" he announced proudly, his words punctuated by a giggle.
Nolan chuckled, ruffling Evan's hair affectionately. "Looks like you've got quite the little helper there, Tim," he remarked, his eyes twinkling with amusement.
Evan saw the opportunity for more attention and he grabbed Nolan's pants, "John, look!" he exclaimed, pointing at something only he could see.
Nolan chuckled, crouching down to Evan's level. "What am I looking at, buddy?" he asked with a grin.
Evan giggled mischievously, his eyes dancing with mischief. "You funny!" he declared, wrapping his tiny arms around the officer's neck in a spontaneous hug.
Then, in a burst of excitement, Evan's face lit up with a newfound revelation. "I meet baby sister soon!" he announced, his words tumbling out in a rush.
The officers exchanged surprised glances, their expressions shifting from amusement to shock at the unexpected news. "Baby sister?" Angela echoed, her voice tinged with disbelief. "Congratulations!"
Nolan grinned, clapping Tim on the back in hearty congratulations. "Well, Bradford. Looks like you're in for double trouble," he teased, his tone affectionate yet teasing.
Amidst the chorus of well wishes and congratulations, both you and Tim couldn't help but feel a swell of gratitude for the supportive community they had found within the station.
"So, what's the little guy doing here?" Angela inquired, her brow furrowed in concern.
Tim sighed, running a hand through his hair as he explained the morning's events. "Well, nanny bailed on us last minute," he admitted, a hint of frustration creeping into his voice. "We didn't have enough time to find someone else to watch him."
Nyla nodded understandingly, her expression sympathetic. "I can call James," she offered, already reaching for her phone. "He can take Evan with him for the day."
Meanwhile, Lucy's eyes lit up with an idea. "And Tamara's here for a school project," she added eagerly, gesturing towards the young woman across the room. "She can watch Evan in the meantime."
Tim's shoulders visibly relaxed at the offers of help, gratitude flooding his heart. "Thank you, both of you," he said sincerely, his voice filled with relief.
You felt a wave of gratitude wash over you, touched by the kindness and support of your colleagues. Despite the unexpected hiccup in their morning routine, you couldn't help but feel reassured knowing that you had such caring friends to rely on.
As Evan bounced around the room, his excitement palpable, you couldn't help but smile at the sight of your son surrounded by so much love and warmth.
Tumblr media
Tamara returned from the restroom and her heart skipped a beat at the sight of the empty break room. Evan's toys lay abandoned on the table, but there was no sign of the energetic three-year-old. She left only for a moment, assigning Smitty to keep an eye on Evan but she couldn't find any of them.
"Evan?" she called out, her voice tinged with concern as she scanned the room frantically. "Where are you?"
Panic began to bubble up inside her as she rushed out into the hallway, calling out for Evan at the top of her lungs. "Evan!" she shouted, her voice echoing off the walls of the station. "Come on, kid! This isn't funny. We didn't agree to play hide and seek!"
Her heart pounded in her chest as she raced through the corridors, her eyes darting from room to room in search of any sign of the missing child. The fear gnawed at her insides, threatening to overwhelm her with its intensity.
"Y/N's gonna kill me," she murmured under her breath, her mind racing with worst-case scenarios. She couldn't bear the thought of facing you and Tim with the news that your son was missing on her watch.
With each passing moment, the weight of responsibility pressed down on her shoulders, driving her to search even more desperately for Evan. She prayed with all her might that he was safe and sound, waiting to be found somewhere within the station.
Tamara's heart raced as she rushed to Angela's desk, her hands trembling with fear. Her eyes widened at the sight of Tamara's panicked expression, immediately sensing that something was terribly wrong.
"What happened?" Angela asked, her voice filled with concern as she reached out to steady Tamara.
"It's Evan," Tamara blurted out, her words tumbling out in a rush. "I don't know what happened. He—uh, he's not in the break room. I can't find him."
Panic surged through Tamara's veins, threatening to overwhelm her as she struggled to catch her breath. She couldn't shake the feeling of dread that gripped her heart, knowing that Evan was missing and she was responsible for his safety.
Angela's eyes widened in alarm as she grasped the gravity of the situation. "Okay, okay, let's stay calm," she reassured, though her own heart raced with fear. "Let's go to talk to Grey."
Together, they hurried to Sergeant Grey's office, their steps quickening with each passing moment. Angela explained the situation to the sergeant, her voice urgent as she described Evan's disappearance. He wasted no time in springing into action, dispatching officers to search the station up and down and the surrounding area for any sign of Evan.
Returning to Angela's desk, they accessed the security cameras from the station, their hands shaking as they scrolled through the footage. With bated breath, they watched as a figure dressed in black approached Evan in the break room, his face obscured from view.
As they watched in horror, the figure took Evan's hand and led him out of the station through the front door, disappearing into the bustling city beyond.
Angela's stomach churned with dread as she exchanged a horrified glance with Tamara. "We have to find him," she said, her voice trembling with urgency.
Tumblr media
You and your rookie arrived as backup for Tim and the day seemed like any other—filled with the usual hustle and bustle of police work and the consuming thoughts about your son now more than ever. It wasn't about that you didn't trust Tamara or James, it was more the fact that your son was in a not so familiar place.
When Sergeant Grey's voice cut through the radio, your maternal instincts kicked in, suddenly feeling something was not right.
"7-Adam-19, 7-Adam-100, please return to the station," he commanded, his voice terse and filled with an unspoken sense of dread.
Immediately, you and your husband exchanged a look of concern, your hearts pounding in your chests as you hastily wrapped up the call. Questions swirled in your minds, but you could sense the urgency in Wade's voice, driving you to act without hesitation.
Rushing towards the station, your thoughts were racing with a million terrifying possibilities. The atmosphere was charged with tension, officers scurrying about with grim expressions etched upon their faces. You and Tim shared a look of mutual fear, your hearts pounding in your chests as you braced yourselves for the worst.
"What happened? Where's Evan?" your voice trembled with fear as you approached Sergeant Grey, your eyes searching desperately for any sign of reassurance.
Grey's expression was grave as he met your gaze, his own eyes filled with sorrow and sympathy. "Please sit down," he urged gently.
But Tim couldn't bring himself to comply, his chest tight with anxiety and dread. "Don't do that," he interjected. "Just tell us what happened."
Sergeant Grey sighed heavily, his shoulders slumping under the weight of the news he had to deliver. "Fine," he relented. "Evan's been kidnapped. We're waiting for the security footage of all cameras around the station, but Detective Lopez might have a lead."
The words hit you and Tim like a sledgehammer, leaving you reeling with disbelief and anguish. Your sweet, innocent son had been taken from you, and you both were powerless.
The weight of the situation settles over you like a suffocating blanket, "Thompson" the name escapes your lips in a whisper, heavy with the burden of past encounters with the man.
Memories flood your mind—the chilling threats, the sinister promises of retribution, the menacing glint in his eyes as he swore vengeance upon you and your loved ones.
Tim's expression darkens with a mix of anger and concern, his mind racing as he processes the implications of Thompson's involvement. "I didn't know he got out," he admits, his voice tight with frustration and worry.
Your eyes fill with tears, heart aching with the unbearable fear of the unknown as you grasp your husband's hand tightly. "We gotta find him, Tim. We need to find Evan," you plead, voice trembling with desperation.
Tim's jaw clenches with resolve as he pulls you into a tight embrace, his arms a comforting anchor amidst the storm of emotions raging within you. "We will, baby," he vows, his voice a steady reassurance in the face of uncertainty.
He holds you even tighter, his touch a silent reassurance amidst the chaos that surrounds you. With gentle strokes of his hand along your back, he tries to soothe the trembling of your body, his touch conveying more comfort than words ever could.
A wave of despair washed over you both as you sank into nearby chairs, minds racing with a whirlwind of emotions. In that moment, your world shattered into a million jagged pieces, leaving behind only a gaping void where your son's laughter once filled the air. Both of you were consumed by a sense of helplessness and grief, your hearts heavy with the unbearable weight of uncertainty.
Tim feels your trembling body in his arms, he knows that mere words can never be enough to ease the crushing weight of your fear. With gentle fingers, he brushes away the tears that stain your cheeks, his touch tender and comforting. Each stroke is a promise—a promise that he will do everything in his power to bring your son home safe and sound.
In the depths of his heart, Tim feels a surge of pain and helplessness, knowing that you, his wife, are bearing the weight of your son's disappearance with every fiber of your being. His own worries and fears are pushed aside as he focuses solely on providing comfort and strength to the one he loves most in the world.
Tamara rushes to your side, her usually composed attitude shattered by panic and guilt. Her face is pale, her hands shaking as she struggles to find the words to express her guilt.
"Y/N, Tim... I'm so sorry," she stammers, her voice quivering with emotion. "I was only gone for a minute, I left Smitty with him. I... I don't know what happened. When I got back, he—uh, he was gone. I'm so sorry."
Your heart breaks for Tamara, knowing the weight of guilt she must be carrying on her shoulders. Despite your own anguish, you reach out to embrace her, offering comfort and solace in the midst of the chaos.
"It's not your fault, Tamara," you reassure her, voice filled with compassion and understanding. "It's okay. We'll find him."
The tension in the room reaches a fever pitch, Angela breaks the heavy silence with a sense of urgency in her voice. "Guys, I think I've found something," she announces, her eyes darting between Tim and you.
Tim's heart leaps with hope as he strides over to Angela's desk, you close behind. "Show us," Tim demanded, his voice tight with barely contained emotion.
Angela quickly pulled up several surveillance footage clips on her computer screen, the images grainy but unmistakable. "Look here," she pointed, her finger tracing the path of a rusty van leaving the surroundings of the station.
Tim's jaw tightened with determination as he surveyed the footage, his mind already racing with plans and strategies to track down the van and bring Evan home. "It's worth a shot," he declared.
Your heart swelled with gratitude and relief, eyes shining with tears as you leaned in closer to the screen. "We have to go after it," you insisted, voice trembling with desperation and determination.
Tim nodded in agreement, his resolve unwavering. "Alright. Let's get airship support and all the surveillance footage we can find. We need to know every move that van makes," he commanded, already reaching for his radio to issue the orders.
Before you could finalize the plans, Tim's hand shot out to stop you in your tracks, his expression wrought with concern. "You should stay behind," he insisted, his voice soft but firm, his eyes pleading for you to consider your safety.
Your heart sank at the thought of being left behind, your fear for Evan overwhelming any sense of self-preservation. "Not a chance," you declared, your voice trembling with determination. "I'm coming with you. We need all the help we can get."
Tim's gaze softened as he looked into the your eyes, his heart swelling with love and admiration, "Y/N, please. I need to know you're safe. I need you and the baby girl safe," he confessed.
Your resolve only hardened at Tim's words, determination unyielding in the face of adversity. "And what about our boy? What about Evan? I need to find him," you insisted, voice filled with desperation.
In that moment, Tim knew that there was no arguing with your determination. With a heavy sigh, he relented, his heart heavy with worry but his resolve unshaken. "Alright," he murmured, pulling you into a tight embrace. "But promise me you'll stay close. I can't lose you too."
You nodded, your heart swelling with gratitude for Tim's understanding and support. "I promise," you vowed.
Tumblr media
With a sense of urgency driving forward, you quickly arrived at the last location where the van was seen. The air crackled with tension as you surveyed the surroundings, the weight of the mission pressing down on you.
Tim's voice cut through the silence as he commanded the team to split up and patrol on foot, his words echoing with authority. "We need to cover every inch of this area," he instructed. "Lucy, Nolan, take east side. Nyla, Angela, cover west. We'll take north."
You nodded in silent agreement, eyes scanning the area for any sign of movement. With each step you took, your hearts hammered in your chests, minds racing with a thousand terrifying possibilities.
Together, you moved cautiously towards the building, the footsteps echoing in the eerie silence of the abandoned street. Tim's hand brushed against yours, a silent gesture of reassurance as you approached the looming structure.
Around the corner, you caught sight of the van parked haphazardly in the alleyway, its doors hanging open as if inviting you inside. Tim's grip tightened on his radio, the other one squeezing your hand even tighter, as he relayed your location, his voice steady and controlled despite the adrenaline coursing through his veins.
"7-Adam-19, we've located the van. Requesting immediate backup at the north entrance," he spoke into the radio, his words precise and urgent.
With bated breath, you entered the building, hearts pounding in your chests as you navigated through the dimly lit corridors hand in hand. Every creak of the floorboards, every flutter of movement in the shadows, sent shivers down your spines as you pressed forward, determination unwavering in the face of danger.
Your hearts stopped as you took in the sight before you— your precious son, bound and gagged, his eyes wide with fear, and the kidnapper, a sinister glint in his eyes as he held the gun to Evan's head.
Evan's small body trembling in fear as he stared up at both you and Tim with tear-filled eyes. The sight of him, helpless and vulnerable, struck a deep chord within you, igniting a firestorm of emotions that threatened to consume you whole.
The knots that bound Evan's wrists and ankles were tight and unforgiving, cutting into his delicate skin and leaving angry red marks in their wake. The sight of your son restrained like a prisoner sent a wave of nausea crashing over, your stomach churning with a mixture of anger and helplessness.
Tears streamed down your cheeks as you took in the sight of your son, heart breaking with every whimper and cry that escaped his lips. It was a sight you had only imagined in your worst nightmares—a sight that would haunt you both for the rest of your days.
You attempted to approach Evan, heart pounding with desperation and fear as Thompson responded with a chilling gesture, taking off the safety of the gun and pressing it even more firmly against Evan's trembling head. You froze in your tracks as you watched in horror, helpless to do anything but stand by and pray for a miracle.
Tim maintained a facade of indifference and purpose despite the pain and anger that consumed both of you. His face was a mask of determination, his eyes burning with a fierce intensity as he faced down the kidnapper. Inside, however, his heart was a tornado of fear and worry, his mind racing with a million worst-case scenarios.
Your heart felt like it was being crushed in a vice grip, your breath catching in your throat as you struggled against the overwhelming urge to protect your child.
Evan's whimpering pierced through the tense silence, his small voice tinged with confusion and fear as he struggled to understand the gravity of the situation unfolding before him.
Tears streamed down your face as you reached out a trembling hand towards your son, desperate to comfort him, but Tim's firm grip on your arm stopped you in your tracks.
"We can't risk it," Tim whispered urgently as he pulled you back to his side, his eyes never leaving Evan.
Your heart felt like it was being torn apart as you watched Evan's innocent whimpering, your own fear for your son threatening to consume you whole.
"Please," Tim pleaded as he addressed Thompson, his hands held up in a gesture of surrender. "Let him go. We can talk about this. Just let him go."
But Thompson's face twisted with anger and resentment, his grip on the gun tightening as he protested vehemently. "You think I'm just gonna let you walk away after what you did to me?" he spat. "You think I'm just gonna let you go back to your perfect little life while I rot in prison?"
Your heart sank as Thompson's words echoed in your mind, "What do you want?" you asked, your heart breaking at the thought of what Thompson might demand. "I'll give you anything. I'll do anything, just please let him go."
His eyes narrowed with hatred as he glared at you, "I want you to suffer," he snarled, his words like daggers in the silence. "Just like I did."
You and Tim tried to talk Thompson down, your hearts pounded in your chests, every second feeling like an eternity as you desperately sought to keep the kidnapper occupied. With Lucy and Nolan slowly approaching from behind, you prayed that they would be able to disarm him before it was too late.
Nolan positioned himself strategically behind Evan, ready to act as a shield if needed, while Lucy positioned herself behind Thompson, her muscles tensed and prepared for action.
"You're making a mistake," Tim stated firmly, his gaze unwavering as he locked eyes with the kidnapper. "You don't want to do this. Let my son go, and we can figure this out."
Thompson's eyes narrowed, his grip on the gun tightening as he glared at Tim with undisguised hostility. "You think I'm just gonna let you walk away after what you did?" he growled.
Tim's jaw clenched with determination as he met his gaze head-on. "We made a mistake," he admitted, "But that doesn't mean you have to make things worse. Let's talk about this like rational adults."
The kidnapper's expression remained cold and unforgiving, his finger twitching on the trigger as he glared at Tim and you with a mixture of anger and resentment. "You ruined my life," he spat, his voice filled with bitterness. "Now it's time for you to pay."
Tim's heart sank as he watched Thompson's finger inch closer to the trigger, every fiber of his being screaming to protect Evan at all costs. "Listen to me," Tim urged, "This isn't the answer. Let Evan go, and we can work this through."
But Thompson's eyes burned with a fierce determination, his grip on the gun unyielding as he leveled it at Evan's head. "It's too late for that," he snarled, his voice filled with rage. "You took everything from me. Now it's time for you to suffer."
Your heart sank at his words, the weight of his hatred crushing you beneath its suffocating grip. "We're sorry," you whispered, "We didn't know..."
Thompson cut you off with a bitter laugh, his laughter echoing off the walls of the empty room. "You didn't know?" he scoffed, "You didn't know that because of you, my wife and daughter are dead?"
Tears stung your eyes as Thompson's words hit you like a punch to the gut, the guilt weighing heavy on your conscience. "We're sorry," you repeated, "We didn't mean for any of this to happen."
His expression remained cold and unforgiving, his gaze fixed on Evan with a mixture of rage and sorrow. "You think your apologies can bring them back?" he growled, his voice laced with bitterness. "You think your words mean anything to me?"
"Even if you take our son away, it won't bring your wife and daughter back," Tim interjected, his voice steady despite the tension in the air. "Don't make things worse for yourself. If you let him go, we won't say a word. You won't go back to prison."
His words hung heavy in the air, a plea for reason in the midst of chaos.
But Thompson's patience wore thin, his grip on the gun tightening as he grew increasingly agitated. His eyes gleamed with malice as he surveyed the scene before him, a twisted smirk playing on his lips.
"Maybe you're right," he sneered, his voice dripping with venom. "Maybe your little bastard isn't the solution. Your whore of a wife is. And pregnant with your daughter. She's perfect."
The words struck like a dagger to the heart, sending a wave of agony crashing over you. Tim's jaw clenched with barely contained fury, his hands curling into fists at his sides as he struggled to maintain his composure.
When the kidnapper's attention shifted towards you, pointing the gun in your direction with a menacing glare, it created a window of opportunity for Lucy and Nolan to intervene. In that harrowing moment, your heart skipped a beat as the barrel of the gun leveled towards you, but amidst the terror, a glimmer of hope flickered to life.
Lucy lunged forward, her eyes focused solely on disarming the kidnapper before he could harm Evan any further. She reached for the gun, her muscles tensing as she prepared to wrestle it from Thompson's grasp.
But in the chaos of the moment, his finger tightened on the trigger, the deafening sound of gunfire shattering the tense silence like a thunderclap. Your heart stopped as you watched in horror, a rush of adrenaline coursing through your veins as the bullet struck its mark. Pain erupted through your body, but in the heat of the moment, the adrenaline dulled the sensation, allowing you to push through.
Every second felt like an eternity as you and Tim rushed to your son's side, the adrenaline coursing through your veins driving you forward. With trembling hands, you helped Nolan loosen the knots, your fingers fumbling in your haste to free Evan from his restraints.
As the last knot came undone, Evan let out a whimper, his tear-streaked face turning towards you and Tim with a look of desperation.
"Mommy!" he cried, his voice trembling.
Your heart shattered into a million pieces at the sound of Evan's voice, tears streaming down your face as you gathered him into your arms. "I'm here, baby," you murmured, your voice shaking with emotion. "Mommy and daddy are here. You're safe now."
Lucy pressed on, pinning the kidnapper to the ground and she swiftly secured him in handcuffs, effectively neutralizing the threat he posed.
Tim knelt down beside you and Evan, his movements were a blur of frantic yet tender gestures. With trembling hands, he pulled you both into his embrace, holding you close as if his mere touch could ward off the looming threat.
"I've got you," he whispered, his voice trembling with emotion as he pressed kisses to your foreheads. "I've got both of you. Everything's going to be okay." His words were a fervent mantra, repeated like a prayer as he desperately tried to reassure himself as much as you and Evan.
You found solace in Tim's embrace, the steady rhythm of his heartbeat a soothing lullaby against your ear. Despite the pain coursing through your body, his presence offered a sense of calm amidst the storm, grounding you in the midst of chaos. With each tender touch and whispered word, exhaustion began to overtake you, the weight of the ordeal bearing down on your weary body, sleep beckoned like a siren's call.
Your eyelids grew heavy with weariness, the pain fading into the background as you surrendered to the embrace of sleep, trusting Tim to keep you safe.
Tim's heart clenched with fear as he felt you grow limp in his arms, panic surging through him like a tidal wave. "No, no, stay with me," he pleaded, his voice thick with emotion. "Don't you dare leave me, Y/N."
But despite his desperate pleas, unconsciousness claimed you, your body going slack against him. Evan's worried voice pierced through the fog of Tim's panic, the little boy shaking your hand with his tiny fingers. "Mommy?" he called out.
Tim's heart shattered at the sight of you lying unconscious on the ground, your face pale and peaceful in sleep. With trembling hands, he scooped Evan into his arms, shielding him from the sight of his mother's still form.
"It's okay, buddy. Mommy's just resting, that's all." Tim whispered, his voice thick with emotion as he held Evan close. But inside, Tim's heart was gripped by fear, his mind racing with worry for you and your unborn baby.
Tim's shouts for help pierced through the chaos, his voice trembled with desperation, tears streaming down his cheeks unchecked as he held Evan tightly in his arms. Each cry for assistance was a desperate plea, a fervent prayer for the help that he so desperately needed.
As the paramedics rushed to your side, Tim watched in horror as they whisked you away on a stretcher. Fear gnawed at his insides, a cold dread settling over him like a suffocating blanket, his chest tightened with every step they took, each moment stretching out into an eternity of agonizing uncertainty.
Angela rushed at Tim's side, and with trembling hands, he handed over Evan into her care, his voice shaking with emotion as he tried to reassure his son in the midst of his own storm.
"It's okay, champ," Tim murmured, his voice choked with tears. "Go with Aunt Angela. Daddy's going with mommy to make sure she's okay." Despite the weight of his own fears bearing down on him, Tim forced a small smile for Evan's sake.
Tumblr media
Tim sat at your bedside, his fingers gently tracing patterns on the back of your hand as he watched over you. Evan was nestled against his chest, his soft snores filling the room with a comforting rhythm.
"How are you holding up, Tim?" Lucy asked, placing a reassuring hand on Tim's shoulders.
"Hanging in there." he whispered, caressing his son's hair like it was an anchor that kept his sanity at peace.
They took turns checking on you, their concern palpable in the air as Tim greeted them with a weary but grateful smile. With each visit, Tim's heart warmed by the unwavering support of his fellow officers and friends.
"Thanks for being here," he offered, his voice tinged with exhaustion but filled with appreciation. "It means a lot."
Angela's gaze softened as she placed a reassuring hand on Tim's shoulder. "We're here for you, Tim," she reassured him. "Whatever you need, just say the word."
As you began to stir, Tim's heart skipped a beat, his gaze never wavering from your face as you slowly blinked awake. "Hey there," he whispered softly, a tender smile gracing his lips as he brushed a stray lock of hair from your forehead. "How are you feeling?"
You returned his smile weakly, your voice barely above a whisper as you replied, "Better, now that you're here." The weight of the past few hours pressed heavily upon you, but the sight of Tim's presence beside you brought a sense of calm that you desperately needed.
Tim's heart swelled with relief at the sound of your voice, his fingers intertwining with yours as he leaned in to press another gentle kiss to your forehead. "I'm never leaving your side again," he vowed, his voice filled with conviction as he gazed into your eyes.
Evan stirred against Tim's chest, his sleepy voice calling out for you. "Mommy" he mumbled, his little arms reaching out in search of you.
Tim's heart melted at the sight of his son, his love for both you and Evan swelling within him like a tidal wave. "Shh, buddy," he whispered, his voice soft and soothing as he gently lifted Evan into his arms. "Mommy's right here."
Evan's sleepy eyes widened with delight as he caught sight of you, his face lighting up with joy. With a sleepy grin, he reached out towards you, his tiny fingers curling around your hand as Tim helped him to gently crawl onto the bed beside you.
You couldn't help but smile at the sight of your son, his presence bringing a sense of warmth and comfort that washed over you like a gentle wave. With Tim's steady hand guiding him, Evan nestled against your side, his sleepy gaze meeting yours with an expression of pure adoration.
"Love you, Mommy," Evan murmured, his voice filled with sleepy affection as he snuggled closer to you.
"I love you more, sweetheart," you whispered in reply as you pressed a tender kiss to Evan's forehead.
Tim's eyes glistened as he looked down at the two of you. With a tender smile, he leaned in to press a kiss to both your foreheads, his touch a silent affirmation of his love for you both.
"I love you both," Tim whispered, his voice thick with emotion as he held you and Evan close, "More than anything in this world."

His Secret</3
Tumblr media
A/N: Joe Goldberg x reader I posted on ao3 because I want him to pull my teeth out. Anyways; warnings are just like kidnapping/hostage situation (of course hehe) and like some noncon situationships?? Thank you for reading<3
Side note: here is the link to my ao3 with the rest of the story!
Your underwear. Photos of you. Multiple phones. And whose fucking teeth were those?
You felt dizzy like the room was spinning. Staring down at the mess of glass and teeth, you briefly thought about your chances of getting away. Just leave, and don't look back. Block Joe Goldberg's number; never see him again. But he already knew too much, and if the previously hidden box, now discarded on the floor, told you anything, it was that he would find you again.
Then the front door opened.
"Y/N, I’m back." Shit. Speak of the devil. A new wave of terror flowed through your veins as the unmistakable sound of the only way in and out of the small apartment was sealed shut with a resounding click as the lock was latched into place.
You were trapped.
"Hey, Y/N," Joe called again. You could hear him making his way to the bathroom you were hiding in, quickly, you stood from your place on the toilet seat and quietly closed the door just as he wrapped his knuckles against the old wooden frame. "You in there?"
"Just a moment!"
You waited in anticipation, watching for the toes of his worn boots to disappear from your view, the crack beneath the door offered you little insight into whatever happened beyond the bathroom, but still, you breathed a sigh of relief when his footsteps grew further. Joe was still talking to you as he made his way to the kitchen, but you couldn't comprehend a word he said too entranced with the whirlwind of thoughts in your head. You set about carelessly cleaning up the mess on the bathroom floor with only one goal in mind the whole time. Get the fuck away from Joe Goldberg.
Sweeping the glass shards into your bare hands was a dumb idea from the beginning, and yet the pain of a particularly jagged piece catching on the pad of your index finger still had you crying out in surprise. You slapped a hand over your mouth, praying Joe hadn't heard you. You listened to him in the kitchen, a mere few feet from where you cowered, the rustle of him going through the plastic bag of food he had brought home momentarily paused when you cried out. You knew that if you took any longer, he would get suspicious…
Shutting the bathroom door softly behind you, you nervously met the loving gaze of Joe Goldberg. "Everything alright?" He asked you sweetly, leaning in to press a quick kiss to your cheek while slipping a paper cup of coffee into your hand. You took it from him without a thought. The warmth of the cup was somewhat soothing to your heightened nerves. "Yeah, sorry.” You apologized, swiftly making your way past the dark-haired man. “Oh, hey, I actually just remembered I have this thing I need to do for work today-"
But he wasn't listening. Why was he looking at you like that? How could he already know?
"Oh my God, Y/N." His voice was full of concern as he grabbed the wrist of your coffee cup-clad hand, immediately disrupting your exit plan. Lowering your gaze, you noticed the murder scene of blood decorating the cup. "What happened?"
You shook your head at him, trying to free yourself from his grip. "Just a paper cut. But Joe, I do have to go now."
He quickly moved his hands to your shoulders, guiding you back towards the bathroom you had just escaped. "Come on, Y/N. Let me take care of you."
You tried to shut him down, but it was hard to get a word in when he kept playfully scolding you, telling you not to be ridiculous, to let him take care of you. You felt like you were being suffocated as you crossed the threshold into the dimly lit bathroom once more. Joe might as well have been holding you by the neck, his toothy grin and eagerness to help did nothing but further tighten the knot in your chest.
"Are you okay?" He asked, his question laced with genuine concern. His fingers brushed against your own as he freed the blood-stained cup from your clammy hand, setting it beside the sink before gently guiding you to sit on the closed toilet seat. "You're shaking." He noted calmly, holding your hand tightly to inspect the damage—something that would have been so comforting to you just twenty minutes earlier. "Yeah, I just have this thing with blood, you know?”
God, even your voice was shaking. Joe looked up from your injured hand and eyed you warily, barely acknowledging your obvious lie before he stepped back, moving to open the medicine cabinet above the sink, from it, he took out a plastic box of bandages.
You had no idea the crunching of glass beneath a shoe could be such a deafening sound.
Your heart stopped beating.
Joe tilted his head to see what he had stepped on, immediately noticing your poor attempt to hide his terrifying secret. He crouched down, and you held your breath. You should've been more careful cleaning up the mess. He found something. Of course, he found something.
Pinching whatever it was he discovered between his thumb and forefinger, he held the minuscule detail, the one that would be your demise, up to the light.
He saw it was a tooth right away. You saw it too. He knew that you knew.
Gulping, you stood from your spot on the toilet seat. "Like I said, Joe, I have to go.” You tried to sound confident, but when you went to meet his eye, he only stared beyond you. He was putting it together all too quickly. Reluctantly, you followed his gaze to see that the ceiling panel above you was not quite in its proper place. You glanced back down at Joe, but he was already watching you. Standing from his crouched position, his eyes never left you, and his gaze was deadly.
If looks could kill…
Shaking your head, you felt your eyes welling with tears. "I'm so sorry."
It was now or never.
You moved to shove past Joe. But he was already anticipating your escape attempt, grabbing you by your biceps, his once gentle grip was now painful and vicious as he slammed your back into the tiled wall behind you.
He wasn't going to just let you go.
"Joe, please!" You shrieked, your panicked breaths coming out hard and fast made your words all the more difficult to understand. "I have to go!"
"No." He growled, voice dark. The palm of his hand came down hard over your trembling lips and muffled your cries. Tilting his head at you, his expression was hard to read, his face void of emotion and it scared you. "No, you don't."
Fuck.
Wrapping your bloodied fingers around his wrist, you stared up at him with watery, desperate eyes. You tried to plead with him, but between your tears and the calloused hand against your mouth, your words fell upon deaf ears.
"Stop it!" He shouted suddenly. You immediately froze beneath him, falling silent, Joe never raised his voice at you. It was clear he hadn't expected himself to lose his temper as he closed his eyes, taking a deep breath before addressing you again. "I need you to trust me," He spoke slowly and firmly as if you were a misbehaved child and not his girlfriend. “Only then can I think about trusting you.” Once he saw that he had your attention, Joe hesitantly removed his hand from your lips, both his hands coming up instead to gently graze your jaw with his fingertips. The action was tender and intimate and had you biting down on your lower lip despite yourself, your other hand came up to latch onto his free wrist, holding onto him tightly with both hands as Joe slightly bent his knees to meet your gaze head-on.
"Please just let me go home." He offered you a sad smile in return. "You know, I can't do that."
For some reason, that’s what made you break. You were just so confused and overwhelmed. Your face scrunched up with emotion, eyes closing in distress, almost like an unconscious attempt to block out the horrible situation before you, and finally allowed a violent sob to rack through your body.
You barely got a tear out before Joe's arms were engulfing you in a strong embrace. One hand rested on your lower back, keeping your body close to his; the other held the back of your head protectively as he shushed you with a tone so sweet your stomach churned. You knew, despite it all, Joe hated seeing you like this and he was desperate to offer you whatever comfort he could.
But the embrace did no more than make you realize just how doomed you were. Your knees buckled at the ugly truth, and you leaned all your weight into Joe's embrace. "Shhh, I've got you." He cooed, easing the both of you to the floor, worried you could faint if he forced you to stay upright.
You buried your tear-stricken face into his chest, but your crying wouldn’t let up, even as he began to run his fingers through your hair, an action that you used to love.
"Y/N, I need you to calm down."
"But you're going to kill me!" You exclaimed, your own shaky hands coming up to grasp desperately at the dark dress shirt he wore. You needed to ground yourself in some way and Joe, who used to be your comfort and was the thing you feared all at once, made it so confusing. You didn’t know if you wanted to push him away or pull him closer. Huffing a sigh, Joe decided for you and hugged you tighter to him. Did you really have so little trust in him? "I would never hurt you, Y/N. I just need you to listen to me. I need to take you somewhere."
"No! No, Joe! I'm not going anywhere with you!" You shouted, abruptly pulling yourself away from him. Joe raised a finger to his lips, signaling for you to lower your voice. "Now, Y/N, if you can't cooperate, then things will get messy. I need you to trust me." Resting a hand atop your own, Joe maintained some sort of physical contact with you not trusting you enough otherwise. His face softened just slightly when you twisted your wrist to intertwine your fingers with his. "Can you trust me?"
Gulping, you shook your head at him. "I'm just so confused." You explained, dropping your gaze. "I know, Y/N. I know.” Joe gushed, bringing his face closer to yours when you tried to look away. “Let me take you to Mooney's, and I promise to explain everything to you then." He finished his attempt to convince you by brushing a loose strand of hair behind your ear, making sure to graze his fingertips along your cheek in the process.
Your heart froze at the thought of going anywhere with him. What if he was lying? What if he took you somewhere secluded just to kill you? However, you knew deep down you weren’t going to be better off here if you continued to fight him. Taking in a shaky breath, you wanted to appear confident, so you allowed Joe to deepen your eye contact. You spoke slowly. "I trust you."
Joe sighed, his eyes fluttering shut in relief. "Good girl."
Pressing his hands onto the worn knees of his jeans, Joe stood up from his spot next to you on the floor. "I'm going to take you somewhere safe." He told you again, grabbing a washcloth from the side of the sink, turning on the faucet, he soaked a corner of the small towel. "No one will be able to find you there” Joe briefly glanced down at your vulnerable and frightened form, before quickly adding on, not wanting to scare you more, “But it'll only be temporary." You looked up at him through your lashes, your legs were too shaky to stand let alone to make another break for it. You tried to accept your fate, hanging on to the promise of temporary. Again, Joe came to crouch in front of you, gently dabbing your tear-stained, heated cheeks with the cool washcloth. "It'll only be long enough for you to calm down and for me to know I can trust you again."
His hand came up to caress your cheek, and your eyes snapped up to his face. He smiled at you, setting the washcloth aside. "I'm going to take care of you. I promise."
If only you could trust that.

Dark sbi where Tommy accidentally kidnaps Philza, not knowing he’s a crime lord. And he swears it was an accident! He just, you know, panicked. Tommy and Tubbo were just minding their own business slapping graffiti on a building (practicing their art skills, you see) when a cop started screeching at them, apparently not an appreciator of the fine arts. And since Mrs. Innit would KILL him if he got arrested, Tommy panics and takes a hostage, shouting at the cop not to take a step further or he’ll kill the random civilian he’s ducked behind so he can’t get shot.
Meanwhile Philza isn’t entirely paying attention, and realizes there’s suddenly a small child sheltering behind him from a cop. He gives the cop the nastiest look imaginable, which causes them to back off enough that Tommy thinks his plan is working. Once the negotiations start Philza is baffled by who would have the gall to kidnap him, and so poorly at that. Frankly it’s an umbrage to face the work of an amateur.
Well, till the abductor asks his name. “…do you not know who I am.?”
Tommy squints at the guy. His suit looks kinda fancy? Is it better or worse for him if he managed to randomly capture some Wall Street schmuck? “Hell no,” he hisses. “And I don’t care. I’m a dangerous guy alright? You don’t know what I’ll do to you.”
Philza’s laugh causes the cop to advance, wagering the situation isn’t intense. But because Tubbo’s ‘Yes And’ game is a force to be reckoned with, he casually pulls out a nerf gun (painted to look real for a prank on Ranboo) and trains it on the cop. Philza is positively delighted as he realizes just how amateur his abductors are. Oh this will be a riot to watch.
With more bluffing than Tommy knew he had in him, promising the hostage 20 bucks if he pretended to go along with it, the pure manic chaos bleeding from Tubbo’s eyes and ample gun waving, and creative use of spray paint in the eyes of the chasing cops, Tommy and Tubbo somehow manage to book it. For some reason the hostage keeps up with them instead of escaping. Huh. Can you develop Stockholm syndrome that fast? Tommy would ask, but he’s panting from sprinting. And as they live in an unjust world, hostage guy isn’t even breaking a sweat despite the three piece suit.
“You’re not going to get far on foot,” Philza murmurs. As corrupt and useless as the cops are for most things in this city, he doesn’t imagine there’d actually be that much fuss over a random man being kidnapped, but he wonders what they’ll do if spooked a little more. It’s been amusing thus far. The boys bicker, then elect to force him to drive as neither have licenses. They don’t ask him to drive to their homes, instead some secondary location. Smart, albeit Philza will definitely know both addresses within the hour.
While Tommy is busy ‘threatening’ Philza about the consequences of not getting them there, Tubbo just leans over from a bag of chips he’s munching on and offers them to Phil. Tommy rounds on him, less for showing exploitable kindness to the hostage and more for eating the Doritos that were meant to be his. Philza almost chides them for revealing each other’s names, but decides it might just be easier to hand them notes at the end of this. So far they aren’t getting a passing grade in abduction. But he has to admit it’s far more entertaining than the ‘business’ meeting he was planning to attend.
(Techno, meanwhile, hasn’t heard from Philza and is going BALLISTIC trying to figure out who kidnapped him. From the police report Phil just kinda went along with it, and looked terrified after a private exchange with the abductor, which has to mean the threat is ungodly to convince the Angel of Death to submit. Techno’s about to have a panic attack imagining the unthinkable horrors happening to his best friend, and is only holding it off by doing atrocities about it. This is the THIRD secret criminal organization he’s ripped apart in the last two hours and PHILZA ISNT HERE EITHER!?)
Philza has decided he likes his kidnappers. They’re not experienced in the slightest, but they make up for it with bravado, determination, and a certain lack of rationality that is necessary in the line of business Philza is in. Yes. They’ll do nicely if given a little guidance.
It’s half an hour before either of them notice Philza is driving aimlessly and they don’t recognize the city around them at all. “Hm? Next time I don’t recommend you give the hostage control of the vehicle. I could have immediately driven to the police station.”
Tommy frowns, almost more nervous at the implication the obvious blackmail would go unused. “…why didn’t you?”
“There’s no love lost between the cops and I. And even more importantly, you amuse me. I like your…potential.” He grins at the soft click of Tommy covertly trying the handle and finding the car doors locked. “Getting out at this speed is almost always fatal, Tommy.”
Tubbo lifts the muzzle of the fake gun towards him. “Let us go right. now.”
Philza leans over, ruffling Tubbo’s hair. The teen gulps at the glimpse of the holster Philza’s jacket was hiding, sharing a wide eyed look with Tommy. “I’m not exactly scared of foam bullets, mate.” He chuckles lowly at the tension freezing both of them. “Relax. You’ll be home by dinner. After you went through all the effort of kidnapping me to avoid trouble with your parents, I don’t intend to ruin it. I like you two; you have spunk I don’t see often. After all, it takes a lot of guts to kidnap the leader of the Syndicate.”

I came to kindly ask something about the unmasked square boss that they take hostage in episode 7
*inhale*
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE 😭
You asked I’ll writeee!
Tumblr media
*Just as In ho was about to shoot the unmasked guard you grabbed the gun down and turned to the guard*
*He looked to be about the same age as you early 20s or teens maybe? Either way he was young it was wrong but he has his whole life ahead of him!*
*The guard seemed shocked you took the gun and sighed* “Tell us where the headquarters of this place is. Killing you would make us just as bad.” *You spoke in a calm yet stern voice the unmasked guard couldn’t help but stare in admiration*
*As he took us to the place the unmasked guard stuck to you the whole time the others seemed he’d kill him during the first chance they’d get you however seemed different i mean he KNEW he deserved to die but….you gave a nice like home feeling he hasn’t ever felt that in ages…..if at all.*
*You decided to try talking to the guard as he was walking right next to you and maybe find out some backstory as to why guards are guards and hey…..he’s kinda cute.*
“Soo why are you a guard anyway?” *You asked out of the blue*
*The guard tensed he continued walking but he didn’t know what to say would you shoot him if he didn’t answer? What was he supposed to do just tell you?*
“Will you shoot me if i don’t tell you?”
*You quirked an eyebrow* “Why would i do that i need you to take us to the place…..ok and im intrigued that’s all how could they hire someone so young like you’re the same age as me dude….” *You stared at him and couldn’t help but observing his eyes….such beautiful eyes yet they seemed emotionless somehow.*
“Well if you really wanna know us guards are asked in a different way you players are.”
*You felt shocked for a second damn he was gonna tell you* “In what way exactly?”
“Well one thing we have in common is that we’re in pretty bad debt too…..if not more.”
*You quirked an eyebrow* “No way some guy here is in debt to 10 billion you’re telling me more than that?!”
*He didn’t say anything but you assumed he nodded*
“Oh well….what else?”
“Some of us are founded from places like let’s say we are homeless or in my case…..”
(Fake backstory incoming 🔥)
“I was an escaper from North Korea I had nowhere to go in fact i was pretty sure I could get sent back any day in the out world….”
*You frowned ah so he didn’t have anywhere to go that’s sad doesn’t justify anything but you can sympathise.*
“Ah so you had nowhere to go so you just took it?”
“Yes i….didn’t think i had a choice. That doesn’t matter anyway after all im pretty sure I’ll be killed after this….”
“Who said we’re killing you?”
*He quirked an eyebrow for once showing emotion on his face*
“No offense but I doubt this plan will succeed there’s too many guards and other workers that could and will come any minute and the manager….im not sure you’ll make it.”
*You shrugged* “Well if we DO fail why would they kill you?” “Number one rule is never show your face I’ll be killed even though im being forced.” *You pondered in thought you didn’t agree with anything this guy did no matter his backstory but you felt bad.* “Well why don’t you quickly put your mask on before they come?” *He sighed he couldn’t help but find your dumb questions…..cute.* “It’s not that simple.”
“Welll i guess this means you basically have to work with us then?” *Maybe lightening the mood was dumb but what else can you do in a situation like this?*
*Yet even though it’s something he never would of considered the unmasked guard couldn’t help but let out a small smile something he didn’t think he was capable of*
“That is so dumb….” *He stopped himself immediately afraid you’d shoot him for saying that you instead frowned*
“Heyy you could be a little nicer you know.”
“Im sorry-“ “Relax dude I’m messing chill out.” *He sighed in relief which you chuckled a bit out of pity and humour.* “You’re funny who knew a guard could be cool in some way…”
Sooo i hope you liked it sorry if it seemed short!

For those of you that saw the blip earlier, when I tried to post this but it broke cause it was too long, here is the real thing. Masterpost for earlier parts.
Sorry again. And slight tw for panic attack
Jason woke up slowly, taking in his surroundings as he adjusted to being awake. It was quiet, and a little humid. He was on a bed, could feel the sheets beneath him, and he wasn’t restrained at all. There was a moment of confusion, because when you wake up after being attacked like that you usually end up dead or a hostage. There was a creeping realization dawning in the back of his mind. He didn’t want to acknowledge it. He opened his eyes, not wanting his suspicions to be true. But he was in a holding cell in the cave, and he realized what must have happened. Then he was pissed.
He let out a growl, pushing to sit up on the bed. He thought they were doing better. He thought his family trusted him again. His growl was angry, foreboding, telling of the danger and anger in his thoughts. But his head was pounding from the sedative. They knew he hated needles. Hated drugs. Why would they do this to him, trick him like this when they knew how he felt about it. The haze in his head, making his thoughts heavy, and doing nothing but reminding him of all the harm drugs have done to the people around him. He stopped growling, hoping the quiet would help. Much less angry, the clouds in his head starting to make him sad and breathless. He hopes the effects wear off soon. He can’t focus. There is something important that he is missing. He is forgetting something, the spiral of his thoughts and emotions starting to lean towards hysteria. He’s alone. Trapped and alone, mind heavy with fog. He can’t think, why is he stuck here? His breath starts coming faster, increasing while his heart starts to race. He tries to keep quiet, and calm down. A whimper escapes him as he finds a corner and slides down the wall. Then he heard a keen. Close, probably coming from one of the other cells. The sound cuts through the haze. Important, a strike of clarity hitting him with a pulse as he remembers the kid. There was a kid with him.
Danny. Jason hears him call out again, a sharp keen of panic-confusion, and Jason needs to help him. Jason stumbles up, leaning on the wall for support. He heads towards the door, but he was familiar with how the cells worked. He reached it and of course it was locked. He attempted to manually override, but the pad inside the cell was locked down. The cell can only be opened once someone on the inside clears whoever is inside it. Created for instances where one of them has been incapacitated by a new strain of fear gas, or a new Ivy concoction. To hold someone until an antidote can be created. There was no getting out of here before the other came by.
Hopefully, they’re on their way now, seeing him awake on the cameras. Jason has some choice words to be had about his situation, angry seething inside him as the panic from earlier recedes.
Danny lets out another keen, breathy and biting and Jason hears him start to panic. Jason still has to do what he can. He can’t reach him, but he can try and calm him down. They’re in this together, and Jason is going to do whatever he can for the kid. He let out a rumble, steady and calm in response to Danny’s cries. His rumble is filled with annoyance, but still said okay-here-safe.
Danny is silent for a moment before he hums back a confused-trust. It’s closer, louder, like Danny has moved to be right on the other side of the wall from Jason. This kid, who just had his world destroyed, came here alone and afraid, and he trusts Jason. Screw yelling at the Bats. Danny needs him, and priority one is getting Danny to a place he can feel safe.
A soft churring sound leaves Jason, sweet and caring, and Jason hopes the kid knows that he is going to do everything he can for him. Then Jason hears Danny let out a short purr, a quiet susurration, that ends as quickly as it starts. Jason is stunned by how much faith Danny is putting in him. How much Jason cares for this boy he just met.
The bats can pry this boy out from his cold, dead hands.

The confessions in danmei i've read are actually pretty funny once you look past them for a bit
Svsss? Bingqiu never actually confesses, or more exactly, it's harder to pin point than you'd expect. No, i'm being for real. Binghe kisses Sqq and then Sqq realizes "Oh fuck he's in love with me" and continues on for the rest of the novel without addresing it but acting positively about couple shit with him, until it blows up in his face, then proceeds to tell Binghe he doesn't regret meeting him (Trhu telling him that if he was his mom he wouldn't have aborted him) but that's not enough because Lbh still doesn't think they're a thing until Sqq goes to meet him and tells him he'll follow him wherever THIS IS THE END OF THE NOVEL MIND YOU. Then they get married and Binghe admits to still be insecure about their relationship by then. The closest thing there is, is Sqq telling Binghe that he likes him on one of the extras. Bingqiu never publicly addreseses their relationship, at least not directly or in words but everyone seems to know anyway.
Wangxian has the most clear and direct confession in two parts. First, under a hostage situation Wwx yells at the top of his lungs, and infront of family of BOTH of them that he really wanted to sleep with Lwj because they did just sleep together like a few hours ago. Second, when everyone is too shocked still by that and the plot, he proceeds to sit on Lwj's lap and continue to explain that he loves him very, very much, to which Lwj repeats his words. Then not five minutes after they're disguting everyone with over the top pda, WHILE STILL ON A HOSTAGE SITUATION AND BEING UNDER TREATS. When the plot let's them go, they hug their adopted son, and then proceed to elope.
Hualian is funny because it happens in the worst situation one of them could imagine and they still come out on top. Hua Cheng was an anxious mess about the whole cave of statues because surely Dianxia would get disguisted by him, then they get under attack by the big bad and traumatic prescense of an asshole, and while they scape Xie Lian tells him they should talk about the statues, then despite of saying that there are things to be said outloud, Xie Lian proceeds to not say shit and silently hug Hua Cheng. Hua Cheng hugs him back, then the plot stoles Xie Lian away for a bit and when he comes back they proceed to gross out everyone with over the top pda for the rest of the novel, on account of Hua Cheng not restraining himself anymore. At some point after the ending they get married and this is common knowledge, said common knowledge includes very accurate descriptions of what happened in their weeding night.
Ranwan? Mo Ran has been mentally torturing himself since he realized he was in love with Chu Wanning and kicking himself mentally for even thinking about it to the point that he doesn't realize the feelings are mutual until they help people escape from attempted genocide. Then he proceeds to be as gentle about it as possible but still being bold in his declaration. Chu Wanning gay panics and runs away but he gets that they do share feelings, he also kicks himself and angsts about it. They then start a relationship without more discussion about it. Ranwan's confession is funny because it's the most normal, planned and gentle thing there is, which is the complete fucking opposite of literally everything else they ever go trhu. How come Mo Ran the moron who can't go two chapters for most of the volumes without being horny about Chu Wanning gets the normal confession? Lfmao. Also, the novel spents a good chunk of time anguishing over the view people will have on their relationship just for everyone not to give a fuck after the ending.
Pd: Special mention to Moshang with one of them not knowing they apparently were a thing, scaping from what seemed like an abusive situation and going back after the other promised to be better. Only his best friend seems aware of all of this.

[part 1] // [part 2] // ...
Metropolis. That was the only word that Marbles could clearly make out from the hushed whispers of scavenger elites. A mix of curiosity and anxiety strikes her heart, not at all where she expected to end up. The plan was to visit the two local iterators, deliver a message, and return home safely with Hunter.
It has not been a long walk, but the scavs decide to take a short rest. It appears that they are now right at the base of an iterator leg. Marbles looks up at the structure, the top is shrouded in a thick layer of clouds. The climb is going to be much harder, she thinks to herself.
The slugcat is instructed to sit in a well lit spot, and for now she obliges. It seems like a good enough place to rest, there is plenty of food and no lizards in sight. Marbles glances around.
Marbles: (turns towards Four) “Hey uh, I’m hungry. Can grab food?”
She points towards big popcorn plants further away. Four stares at her briefly, muscles tensing up. Marbles can’t see their eyes, but the warning is clear - she isn’t meant to stray off. The scav grabs a small spear nearby, stabs a blue fruit hanging just overhead, then throws it at her feet. Marbles frowns, but picks it up anyway.
Marbles: (through her teeth) “Right… thanks”
One, the dark coated leader of the elite group, whistles and signs at Two - they are to keep a closer look on the guest. The green scav nods and sits right in front of Marbles, staring at her from under their creepy looking vulture mask. How rude. Marbles hates having her personal space invaded, but keeps it cool. She has never squared up to elites before, and there are four of them now holding her hostage. Best not to provoke them until she comes up with a good escape plan…
Marbles: (trying to keep her face neutral) “Nice mask. Looks uncomfortable to wear, though...”
The silence is awkward, and her attempt at small talk falls on deaf ears. Two tilts their head slightly, but won’t say anything back. Marbles wonders if this is some kind of intimidation tactic… and she’s clearly not having it. Direct confrontation is out of the question, but a little staring contest may scratch that retaliatory itch, if only for a bit. Marbles sits down and, with the blue fruit still in her hand, maintains an unbroken gaze with the two empty holes where the scav’s eyes should be. Stare into the void long enough, goes the saying. She may be weirded out, but she sure won’t cower before them.
One sits quietly, observing the whole situation. Three joins them shortly after, offering a snack of popped kernels.
Three: Something’s dodgy about this scug, don’t you think?
One nods, keeping their eyes fixed at the new “guest”.
One: Have you smelled her? The scent is oddly specific. Three: Nah, my nose’s all scrambled after that fever spell from earlier. But, I can tell - even without it. Curious that she spits out bombs, just like the Chief can? One beast is already enough.
One exhales, a moment of silence fills the air.
One: An awful coincidence to have a slugcat, smelling exactly like her, show up at this exact moment… but perhaps this is the opportunity that we’ve been waiting for. Something to stir the pot. What better person to do it than a relative.
Three glances, confused.
Three: Wuh…? You think that’s her kid? No way, nooo way, who would’ve wanted to touch that beast! Not even with a stick!
Three laughs out loud, but their humor is quickly tempered by a terrible realization. They tense up, tightly gripping a spear on their back.
Three: …let’s kill it, One. Let’s kill it now. I can’t survive another decade under a second Beast. We have an advantage. One: (raising their hand) No. Calm down. Do no sudden moves, she is watching.
Three settles down, annoyed.
One: (pointing at Marbles) Look at the body language of hers - alert and deliberate. Have you seen the spark in her eyes, that fire? Awfully familiar. We could kill her here and now, but that would be a waste. Don’t forget how tightly the Beast clings to its role as chieftain. Imagine how threatened it would feel if its authority was questioned by an usurper. There is no need to dirty our hands if the situation can be dealt with by that mangy red scug. A fight will transpire, and if we’re lucky it will last just long enough to wear the Beast down. Then, we will finish it once and for all, void willing. Three: (whispering) Damn… you’ve got the brains. This better work out, One. We had to wait 10 years for your last genius plan to bear fruit. One: (smirking) You mock me, but this is our best shot. My very first plan did work out, and this one shall too. Have patience.
