i have acquired a mystical and powerful ointment (hydrocortisone cream) from the village herbalist (rite aid) to assist with the curse set upon my bloodline from many generations ago (eczema)
#feel free to reblog#ironically this is the one thing i know the least about and it's the one i've known about for sure for the longest#never seen a doctor for it (everything online says you probably should) because my parents never took me#they told me that's what it was because that's what my dad had and it looked close enough#they also said i'd grow out of it like my dad did (just as he was growing back into it hmmmmm)#so i'm not like shocked that this is cropped up again i'm mostly like. annoyed? and sad.#i'm annoyed because like - they treated it so casually it was a non issue#get some anti-itch cream moisturize etc#and be quiet about it until it goes away#so it came back every now and then and i stopped telling them i was getting flare ups i'd just get into dad's cortizone and put some on#until it went away#there was never like a plan or a regimine in place for how to deal with it#dad's whole routine was preventative (lots and lots of baby oil) with the steroid cream you pick up at the pharmacy if there was a flare#and i didn't even know when he'd get a flare because it never got brought up - so i didn't know to look for patterns or anything#and now it's hitting me and has been for probably longer than i realized and i'm just like#*how do i take care of this???* *why is it not going away???*#and like yes i absolutely should also still see a doctor about it just to like. Fucking get shit in my records#jesus christ the realization that eczema isn't even probably in my medical records fucking hell#IT'S IMPORTANT BECAUSE IT'S AN IMMUNE RESPONSE AND DOCTORS PROBABLY NEED TO KNOW I'VE GOT A FUCKY IMMUNE SYSTEM IF THAT'S A THING#LIKE CHRIST IN HEAVEN MOM AND DAD A TRIP TO THE DOCTOR IS LIKE NORMAL FOR SMALL CHILDREN#FOR FUCKS SAKE WHY DID I NEVER SEE A DOCTOR AS A CHILD FUCKING MARY MOTHER OF GOD MA WHAT THE FUCK

Tomura x Reader
word count: 1,300+
(You tend to Tomura’s dry, cracked hands and itchy skin while the two of you watch a movie.)
disclaimer/content warning: no warnings apply! just a lil sfw drabble in honor of tomura’s birthday. also reader has a technology/hacking quirk. enjoy!
The light from the television cast the room in a pale glow, muted colors shifting from blue to green and back to blue again as the scene of the movie oscillated between the perspective of the two main characters— the protagonist and antagonist about to come to a head.
Tomura was enraptured, unable to tear his unblinking gaze from the screen as the tense music began to pick up speed, the cuts between the two opposing sides getting faster and faster until they met on the same ground, the final fight about to build to a crescendo.
You, however, were currently focused on something much more important than a dramatic psychological thriller you’d already seen a million times.
Because, being carefully massaged between your soft little hands was one of Tomura’s big, rough palms, the skin cracked and flaking with irritation.
“Tomu…” you murmured, sort of with a concerned, sympathetic coo. “I told you… you don’t need to wait until they’re this bad to come to me. I can do it nightly, I don’t mind.”
All he gave in response was a simple hum and a barely detectable nod. You felt his hand tense slightly in yours as the fight took a turn and the villain got the upper hand. You knew that’s who he was rooting for, though, unfortunately, very few films ended with the bad guys winning in the end.
You continued to work the first layer of lotion into one of his hands, then reached over to grab the other from his lap, giving it the same treatment. It was a thin, lightweight hand cream that, for you, normally did the trick. In the colder months, maybe you would have to reapply it two or three times a day, at most, but for Tomura, you’d gathered every lotion, cream, and salve within your moisturizing arsenal to treat him with.
All it took was one look at his hands to know it was going to be a lengthy process.
“Just tell me if any of it starts to burn or sting,” you instructed him, finishing with his left hand and retaking up the right one where, just as you’d thought, the first layer of lotion had already soaked all the way in and left his hand still feeling dry, albeit slightly less rough. “And if you notice any unusual redness by tomorrow you need to—”
“I know, I know,” he sighed, resisting the urge to roll his eyes. He appreciated your help, truly he did, but he wasn’t used to having someone fuss over him like this. The care you offered was still a foreign thing to him.
He remedied the harsher edges of his voice then by looking over and giving a small grin, chapped lips beseeching of your attention as well. Lightly squeezing your hand in his, he said, “I’ll let you know.”
That seemed to placate you, for the time being at least, and you resumed your work tending to his hands.
“You better…” you muttered with a crooked grin.
Now moving onto the second layer, you flipped open the cap of a thicker, slightly stronger eczema cream. It would help lock the moisture in better than the surface layer that you’d just finished applying. It was your favorite for whenever you, yourself, encountered any stubborn dry patches on your own skin. A few days of this stuff and your ailment would disappear. You figured it would take a few weeks to have even half the effect on Tomura, though, it wasn’t so much the appearance of his skin that concerned you. It was more so how the constant itching sensation affected him.
It was painful, you could tell. It showed in the way he flinched and hissed and scratched himself raw, carving new scars over old ones. It hurt you to watch him hurting, so whatever you could do to help him feel more comfortable in his own skin, you were more than willing to try.
“Ah, man…” you heard Tomura grumble, clicking his tongue in annoyance. “They always let the heroes win. So predicable…”
He turned his attention away from the movie— there was only about ten minutes left now anyway— and instead decided to focus more on you now.
“What’s this one do?” He half-mockingly, half-curiosity inquired, plucking up step three of your six step lotion lineup for the night. He narrowed his eyes as he read the packaging, smirk widening as he asked with a bit of a chuckle, “And what the fuck is colloidal oatmeal?”
You swiped it from his grasp, motioning for him to give you back his hand.
“It helps your skin!” was all you could offer in defense. And then, before he could tease you any further, you said, “Now stop stalling and sit still.”
To humor you, Tomura complied, though the way his entire body relaxed the more you lulled him with the soothing circles you massaged into his hand spoke to just how much he’d needed this. Craved it. He never asked for it himself, but whenever you told him to sit down and let you tend to him, he never tried to argue.
“Y’know, I’ve been trying to do some research,” you eventually admitted, “and I think I might’ve found a few products that could really give you some relief in the long term. They’re pricey but…”
“Well,” Tomura shrugged. “That’s what shoplifting was invented for.”
At that, you gave a gentle chuckle. “Well, some of these things are prescription only…” You shot him a coy glance. “Which is why I’ve also been researching how to commit prescription fraud.”
“Ah,” he replied, perking with sarcasm. “Glad to see your robbery skills are leveling up.”
You let out another laugh, opened the cap to the next ointment. “Forging medical documents might be the boss battle,” you joked.
“Yeah…” he sighed, something in his expression softening then. “But if anyone can beat it, it’s gonna be you.”
You felt yourself warming to his praise. You were his favorite little hacker, after all, your quirk allowing you to enter into any kind of technology— the internet included— and navigate through it as if it were a physical space, your consciousness traveling into the coding and giving you the ability to alter things, to fidget with and rearrange the contents like they were items on a shelf or paintings on a wall.
By now, you were nearing the end of your moisturizing process, a pile of previous lotions, potions, oils, and hand creams collecting on your side of the couch.
“How does it feel?” you asked him. He hadn’t complained about any discomfort, but you still wanted to make sure.
“Mm, pretty good, I think,” he answered. Though, what he really liked most about these exchanges wasn’t necessarily the effect it had on his skin, but rather getting to have your full attention, privately, away from the other members of the League.
He liked how meticulously you tended to his hands, making sure to get every inch from fingertips to wrists.
He liked how you touched him with such gentle care, dare it be compared to love.
“Good,” you smiled, interlocking your fingers with his as soon as you were done. After these sessions, your palms were even softer than they'd been at the start.
You snuggled against his shoulder, resting your head against it even though it was a bit boney. His hand grasped yours just a little tighter, a silent plea for you to stay here, like this, with him, for just a while longer.
“Thank you…” Tomura eventually muttered, sounding halfway to dozing off. You were starting to drift too, so you almost missed it. But once it registered to you you grinned, softly nuzzling against him.
“Anytime,” you murmured.
Anytime.

How they sleep with you (sfw)
Tumblr media
 ━─━────༺༻────━─━
Wriothesley
he always comes to the bed after you and tries to move carefully in order to not wake you if you have already fallen asleep
he is a big spoon so he hugs you from behind really nice and comfy
usually very tired of late shifts at work so probably will be dead asleep the next few seconds. You’d pull the blanket over him ensuring he doesn't catch a cold. Oh, he loves when you take care of him :(
he gives out the best hugs and is actually very warm, like a big old wolf can be your personal blanket. Even though you would still wrap the both of you into the fuzzy blanket knowing that this silly man probably doesn't realise that the nights are getting longer and freezing
loves nuzzling into your hair, coz your scent makes him relaxed and he’ll likely have a good night sleep after a sniff of his significant other
Tartaglia
he is actually very sweet and gentle in the bed with you, especially before sleep when the both of you likely end up tired after work
removes his accessories, rings, gloves only to gently wrap his bare hands around you. tartaglia is a big spoon as well. he does not fail to amaze you with how smooth his hands feel against your arm compared to his finesse in a battlefield
loves warm temperature so makes sure both of you are wrapped in huge fuzzy blankets
loves a good mug of hot chocolate or honey herbal tea before sleep and will make you one too!
although loves being a boss aka big spoon, will die for you to lie on his chest <3
Neuvillette
being a small spoon he loves when you wrap your arms around his broad chest, he finds it very comfy and in a way, soothing
Neuvillette is extremely shy and solitary so he won’t usually ask you for something but sharing a nice cup of warm water before sleep with you is his guilty pleasure. There is just something super endearing about sharing his favourite drink intimately with you, under the moonlight and rain…
he takes big pleasure in being undressed by you, he just wants to feel you remove these formal indigo layers from his shoulders. will also let you personally remove his feather hair pin and unclip other accessories from his lavish outfit
even though his eyes look cold sometimes he ensures his significant other doesn't doubt his affection which is showing quite well in how he holds you in sleep
holds your hand in the sleep so tight as if afraid you will disappear the next day. Neuvillette enjoys your company more than he is going to admit. Hard on the outside - sweet inside, he almost innocently kisses your forehead and cheek before sleep so that you almost forget how stiff and rough this man is in court
Pantalone
sleep? doesn’t know him. This man has huge eyebags coz apparently he sleeps in the office…
his face looks completely different without glasses and you cannot help but be in awe every night, seeing the perfect shape of his eyes clearly and slight hints of exhaustion after the whole CEO work
after having you help him inject insulin, he lets you take his gloves off, and even though he’s been sharing domestic pleasures with you for a while, still wary of showing his bare hands to you every time, coz he has an eczema he finds disgusting. will hum quietly while you spread a gentle cream over his hands as a skincare routine procedure before sleep
he is attached to you more than he initially planned to and it is showing in the way his hands “accidentally” graze yours or his eyes examine your sleepy face before he drifts off too. You’re left mesmerised at how this man, a heartless businessman, treats you so softly and dearly
is actually capable of comforting someone, so will do a great deal of comforting you if something about your mood seems off. He is not very sensitive to emotions but he understands you logically, judging by your body language, routine or the way you talk. Trust me, this man is the gentlest when it comes to your vulnerability, he will ensure 💯 that you feel safe and happy enough, so he will hug you SO tight in the sleep, in order to just soothe you
Alhaitham
cannot let you fall asleep without night cuddles when he with his muscular chest loves pressing you into the sheets
even though he is grumpy about it, allows you dismantle his clothes. There is something endearing about touching his biceps and chest while you undress him
Alhaitham loves when you sniff his hair and bury your face into it. He might possibly lay closer to you so that your nose bumps in his head or throat
turns his relaxing lo-fi kind of music on so that you can enjoy it too and tune into sleep with him
he sleeps very quietly and peacefully but can wake up to a single noise. Be sure to hold him close and not wake him <3
Capitano
loves caressing your soft tummy when you’re in the bed with him
when it’s a cold night and even heating doesn't seem to help, you pull his toned body on top of yours so that he provides additional warmth and comfort. Capitano loves laying on top of you, but concerned he’ll be too heavy for you
he won't let you fall asleep without a night kiss, he’s so addicted to your lips that he just won't allow you go to bed without bringing that sweetest gentlest smooch to your lips
he goes to bed quite early which is understandable for a gentleman coded guy like him. If you are not sleepy and plan to play in your phone he won't have objections to it however. He will pull his blanket up his body and let you enjoy your stuff while he is attempting to sleep
He is a tea drinker, so herbal tea before sleep is must have for him. One of his personal favourites is - camomile tea
Dottore
he is actually the sweetest when it comes to before sleep procedures. He loves doing domestic stuff with you a whole lot
night time is probably the only way for you to see his face coz he removes his mask. He’s afraid he might hurt you since you sleep wrapping your body around him while he buries his face into your neck from behind
he is very sensitive to your emotions so if you seem upset for the evening he will make jokes (even if unfunny or cringey) to ensure your mood is changed. He can't bare to see you frustrated and wants you to be as comfortable as possible, since you have already given him enough - like trust, patience and affection
brushing or playing with your hair is his addiction before sleep. He is not exactly the tidiest person around but he loves touching your hair and he even says that you inspired him to take more care of his own
lots of talk talk meaningless talk about his theories before sleep because he loves sharing his personal opinions and ideas with you. He trusts you this much
Dainsleif
cold on the outside, becomes softer the longer you know him, this man being a tsundere king isn't very touchy with you, however during sleep he subconsciously tries to reach your hand, to feel your warmth
you love listening to his stories about his adventures and travels, his experience is sure long and enticing enough for you
is also a tea drinker before sleep. Just imagine pyjamas wearing Dainsleif in slippers as he waits for his tea to be ready
you love ruffling his blonde hair as the both of you lie down. Though he groans in dissatisfaction, subconsciously he loves it too but never admits it
this man loves sleeping only in his boxers so you are for sure going to feel the warmth of his body and smell his natural scent as he is pressed close to the sleepy you
Baizhu
he makes sure he folded every one of his working papers and sorted all medicine bags as he gets into the sheets with you
he is prone to feeling chronically cold, so he will pull you close to get some of your warmth for himself (that’s a bit yandere of him don’t you think)
Baizhu is very tidy and neat so one of your favourite things is touching his silky hair and his clean fingers as the both of you slowly drift away to sleep
he shares one trait with Pantalone - staring at his beloved one’s face until he completely falls asleep limp. He is addicted to you and your face as if your whole presence is some sort of a drug
anxious of discovering an empty bed. he holds you so close as if a single thought of you slipping off his fingers terrifies him. Will be really irritated if you two do not wake up simultaneously

(TW: Sex, genitalia mention)
My dear lgbt+ kids,
Sex isn't supposed to hurt. Anyone who tells you otherwise is lying.
That includes all kinds of penetration: vaginal, anal, with a penis, finger or toy. "Entry pain" with penetration isn't normal and neither is pain during or after sex.
There are sadly still people out there who tell vagina-owners that it's normal to feel uncomfortable during sex, that penetrative sex isn't supposed to be enjoyable for you, only for your partner, or that you need to bear the pain (either for your partner's sake or "until you loosen up" - which is not how the vagina works!).
The idea that “you are born tight and need to be loosened up by a penis” (and that you therefore need to lie down and take the pain until you are loose enough) is a complete myth. It is easily debunked by basic biology: your vagina is a muscular canal. That means its tissue is elastic! It can stretch when it needs to, and then it bounces back (just think about childbirth! It can stretch to fit a whole baby) - and it can do that because that’s how muscles work, it doesn’t need some magic penis to come along and teach it to do that. It’s actually a pretty sexist idea that you’d need that!
Pain isn't (and shouldn't be!) a normal, regular part of sex. If penetration hurts, it's a sign something is wrong. It's a good idea to talk to a medical professional who can help you pinpoint the exact reason.
Here are a few common causes:
Not enough lubrication. This means you are not "wet" enough. The vagina self-lubricates when aroused, the anus doesn't. So, for vaginal sex it can help to just include more foreplay to make sure you are really aroused and ready to go! Foreplay can be anything that feels good and gets you in the mood. Additionally you can use lube (this is a kind of gel or cream specifically made to reduce friction during sexual activity which are safe to apply to genitalia - please do not try to use face cream, shampoo or anything like that. If it is not made to be used vaginally, it can really irritate your skin and make the problem worse!). For anal penetration, you always need to use lube.
Certain medications (like antidepressants, birth control pills or high blood pressure pills) can decrease lubrication as a side effect. If you suspect this plays a role, please do not discontinue your meds without your doctor's approval. Ask them for advice, maybe you can switch to a different brand or dosage. Lube can also be helpful in those cases.
Urinary tract infections can cause a burning sensation during or after sex. Talk to your doctor, you may need antibiotics or other medication to treat your UTI.
Skin problems in your genital area (like eczema) can cause pain during sex. If your skin looks red or feels itchy, raw or swollen, talk to your gynecologist.
Vaginismus causes involuntary spasms of the vaginal muscles. This may be the case if you can't insert anything at all (not even tampons) without experiencing severe pain. Talk to your gynecologist. (They usually do not need to perform an internal exam to diagnose vaginismus, if you are worried about the exam being too painful). Treatment can include physical therapy (such as pelvic floor exercises) and psychological therapy.
Depression, anxiety, high levels of stress or past traumatic sexual experiences can also contribute to pain during sex. This does not mean “The pain isn’t real, it’s all in your head”! Emotional health and physical health are interlinked. For example, depression can make it harder to feel aroused (and therefore lubricated).
This is not an exhaustive list. There are other temporary situations, chronic conditions and acute illnesses that can make sex painful - if you are unsure or worried, it’s always best to consult a gynecologist.
With all my love,
Your Tumblr Dad

Hi, Ghosty. I've been wondering if you can do demon brothers with mc that is insecure with their eczema 👉👈
As someone who grew up with (granted, mild) eczema, I feel this in my soul. Even with a little, it can be embarrassing and unbearable, so I can imagine how hard it is with more. Hugs, because it absolutely sucks, and sometimes there’s SO little you can do about it. I usually treat it with creams, but I’m sure everyone varies.
I’ll preface this with the very clear statement that the Obey Me characters do not care what you look like, as long as you’re comfortable and happy. Being insecure of your appearance means you aren’t comfortable and happy, and they’ll each do whatever it takes to change that into something that empowers you, or at the very least helps you feel better in your skin.
Lucifer
More often than not would notice early on that you’re self-conscious of your appearance. Long sleeves? Pants? Turtlenecks? All in summer weather? How unusual, and you even seem to be sweating uncomfortably.
At first suggests gently that you should dress for the weather until he realizes that something more must be happening for you to behave so unusually. He asks directly what the problem is, and you decide to tell him—but only in absolute privacy.
Nods in understanding. You don’t want people to see your skin, and he relates to that. After all, the scars from his fall are…
Well, we don’t talk about the scars. All you need to know is that he understands.
Offers to help you find creams, spells or other treatments to settle flare-ups. Lessens your stress so that it doesn’t get worse. Offers his office and bedroom for you to lounge in without covering yourself—whether he’s there with you or not. If he is there with you, he treats you as he would normally—respectful and calm, without acknowledging the rashes unless you want to talk about them.
Mammon
What do you mean you’re not burning up in that get-up? C’mon, take off that sweater. It’s a million degrees and you’re making him feel like he’s sweating!
You agree on the condition that he doesn’t tell anyone and that he doesn’t laugh or make a comment. After all, he won’t shut up forever if you don’t let him see what the problem is.
Oh. Ohh, that explains it.
Tries hard not to stare because ouch, that looks painful. He’s gotten his fair share of rashes and wounds from…Well, being an idiot with spellcraft. But that just means he has tons of sympathy for your condition.
Offers for you to use any of his special, expensive products as you want. He even goes out of his way to find things that’ll settle the flare-ups, even if that means spending more money. “Forget about it. Ya made me itchy, so start usin’ it before I go crazy.”
Doesn’t shy away from physical contact, and doesn’t treat you like you’re a pariah. If you suddenly feel anxious without covering your body, he offers his jacket to lay across your lap or cover your arms or neck. It’s the least he can do, and you look kind of cute with his clothes on. Just make sure ya give it back, and it better smell like those lotions he’s lettin’ you use!
Levi
It’s okay. He looks weird too, especially when he’s in his demon form. I mean, have you seen all his scales? They’re super itchy too when they shed off, and he’s got a mess on his hands making sure they’re cleaned up and not giving him even more skin problems and you must think it’s so weird and inappropriate that he’s comparing his stupid problem to your totally valid one and—
You hush him up quickly, but somehow, his anxiety helps you feel somewhat better?
He sighs and covers his reddened face. “I-I mean, I don’t know if it’ll work on humans, b-but I have…ideas of what works for me.”
Totally understands the social aspect of wanting to cover up or not go out, especially when your eczema is worse than usual or in an obvious spot. Always keeps his door unlocked for you to come and go as you please, and tries extra hard not to stare at your rashes when you’re there. It’s not that he’s judging you, but they just look so painful, and he wants to help so badly…
Absolutely offers to distract you in any way possible. If that means he has to t-touch you to rub on creams, or he just listens to you complain and offers his room as a place of comfort, then he really hopes you take him up on it. He even researches and buys tons of stuff online to try and help, though maybe you’ve tried it all. It’s the thought that counts, right? Right? Tell him he did good.
Satan
“Oh? I’m not familiar with that, but it looks uncomfortable. No wonder you’re insecure about it.”
While it doesn’t help you feel better at all, you respect his ability to be pragmatic, realistic and honest about your eczema. Yes, it’s painful and itchy and really obvious, but did he have to say the quiet part out loud?
So he researches. And he researches. And he asks questions that make no sense, some that do make sense, and others that even researches in the human world probably never thought of. And in the end, he comes up with a game plan that’s…not really what you wanted, but you appreciate the thought behind it.
Maybe you’ll take him up on the offer, or maybe you won’t. It’s totally your decision, but the door is always open. He’ll make all the potions and spells you could ever want to try if it means you’re more comfortable with yourself.
He’s a bit pushy on asking about it sometimes. He wants to help, but he’s not always sure how he can, so he needs a little direction. Once you tell him that you need a place to rest, or some lighter clothes to cover up, or maybe just someone to complain to, he’s always there to listen and offer a shoulder to lean on or a lap to rest on. Please, take advantage of it. It’s the least he can do.
Asmo
Very quickly notices your outfits are too uncomfortable for the weather and the season. “Darling, you really must dress with the times! You know that long sleeves should be reserved for after September, and you shouldn’t be wearing those pants when they don’t flatter your figure hardly at all, and—“
Will literally pull a jacket off of your shoulders. Try him. He’s trying to be helpful and playful, but he doesn’t realize you’re insecure because of your eczema until it’s too late.
Is confused. He doesn’t have a comparable idea for what that is in Devildom. He doesn’t have creams or treatments for anything like that,, but damn it, he’s going to find something that helps you feel better.
If you’re going out, he offers to help cover it up with makeup or a light shawl that matches your skin well enough to hide. If that upsets your skin and you don’t want to go out, he plans an elaborate indoor date and makes sure that the brothers aren’t home to ruin it. Trust him; they won’t be anywhere nearby. Don’t ask how he managed that, love.
Will give you all the oatmeal baths he can possibly offer. Maybe they help, maybe they don’t, but it does give him an excuse to see you au natural or in a bathing suit, and that’s something to appreciate, isn’t it?
Beel
His first concern is that you’re allergic to something you ate. He’s heard of people breaking out in hives for allergies, and he’s worried. It doesn’t look good, and he’s pretty sure that humans can’t have reactions like that without getting sick, and—
When you explain to him that it’s something you’re basically born to suffer, he nods in understanding. So it’s like a battle scar, he thinks, because that’s about the only comparison he can make. Maybe it’s even like a sweat rash; he gets those on occasion if he doesn’t take care of himself after exercising, so he gets it.
Lets you wear his oversized clothes to help cover up. If you’re in public, he’s absolutely not above stripping shirtless so that you can cover up, or even carrying you around so that no one can notice your eczema but rather look at you for being carried. Hey, at least they won’t notice the thing you’re worried about.
Tries to find foods that would help inflammation and will offer them to you on a regular basis. It’s something he knows will help in the long run, though it’s not exactly the most quickly helpful.
The best at making sure any creams you use are rubbed in perfectly. Have eczema anywhere on your body? He notices it quickly and offers to help cover it right away, whether with clothes or a treatment. Whatever makes you comfortable.
Belphie
Doesn’t care about the rash at all beyond a simple, “What’s that? Oh, okay.”
Secretly wonders if he can do anything to help. Is honestly a bit worried to touch you when you cuddle because he doesn’t want to irritate your skin further.
If you’re nervous about napping with him, don’t be, because he really doesn’t mind how you look as long as your shoulder or lap is available to him. It makes you feel good to be needed by him, doesn’t it? Then accept his generosity.
Really tries to listen to you talk about it, but he just…keeps thinking about ways to help. He’s smart; it shouldn’t be hard to come up with something that works, but surely you’ve been trying to work with it for years. In the end, he defaults to whatever you want, and does whatever he can to listen to what you need from him.
Constantly reassures you that the appearance doesn’t matter to him, as long as you’re cozy in his arms.

The saga of Laura's right arm 😭
Monday night, I developed a big rash on my right forearm. It was itchy and bumpy and horrible but I didn't think too much of it because I have been going through a horrendous eczema flare up recently so I was just like "ugh another rash to join my collection" and treated it like I do my other breakout sites.
But then the itching kept going. If you've never had eczema before, it itches at first but then it usually stops itching in favor of hurting real bad because your skin is cracking open and bleeding. Fun shit. That didn't happen though. It just kept itching worse and worse and spreading up my arm to the crook of my elbow.
Yesterday, while I was at work, I noticed the bumps were getting bigger and bigger. That's right, your girl had hives. I figured I'd just take a Benadryl and go to bed and be fine the next day. And I was. Kind of. This morning, the itching had stopped and the hives had gone away but MY ENTIRE ARM WAS SWOLLEN. It felt solid and hot and extremely painful. Also the pain wasn't just where the rash had been, it was radiating up my arm and my shoulder was really sore as though I pulled a muscle. Also I felt gross and run down like my body was fighting something off. The swelling was freaking me out so I took two Aleve and I was thinking "if this doesn't do it, I'm going to have to go to urgent care" which I don't want to do because...well...I'm American. You know how healthcare shit is for us. Fortunately the pills did the trick because the swelling is down considerably and so is the soreness. I just don't know what happened in the first place. Did something bite me? Is this an allergic reaction to the ridiculous amount of pollen everywhere? Did I touch something weird at the gas station Monday morning? The fact that it was affecting my entire arm is really worrying me. Hopefully whatever it was is gone now but I am stocking up on Benadryl just in case.
If you don't hear from me by tomorrow, my arm probably fell off. 😭😭

could we get some strawberry leg love please I've always kinda been unsure about mine especially when you add on my sensitive skin making it hard to treat among other things
I understand how hard it is to treat skin conditions. I grew up with eczema as a kid and I still have some scarring on my arms…
But! I think you should know that regardless of skin conditions/scarring from said conditions, your skin is lovely. Kind of a weird fact, but the skin is my favorite organ out of the entire human body because I’m studying to become a dermatologist. I understand that people may feel insecure about their skin conditions, because the skin shows everything. It’s difficult to hide your insecurities, but that’s okay. Your legs are beautiful and so is everything else about you :)

im giving quackity my eczema
how good is he at dealing with it
(eczema/atopic dermatitis is an often chronic skin condition where you get itchy/red/inflamed skin. it SUCKS. im projecting)
1 - Q does very well, keeps up with everything, remembers to moisturise after showers, and orders his prescriptions regularly, so his skin is constantly smooth despite his condition
2 - Q remembers to do most things but forgets on occasion, so his skin is mostly smooth save for a few flare ups here and there
3 - Q is forgetful as FUCK. only orders prescriptions when he's literally ran out of evrything, skin is usually fine but flares when he runs out of medications and moisturisers
4 - Q hates treating his eczema, and has to be peer pressured by Wilbur to moisturise, his skin is usually flared to some degree
5 - Q is chaotic about it, executive dysfunction makes it difficult for him to remember to order prescriptions or moisturise but he's trying his best, so the state of his skin greatly fluctuates

Does anyone with Cs/WCS wanna chat about it?
Does it feel like you're more of a zombie? A vampire? Something else?
Does it fluctuate or stay the same every episode?
What conditions do you have influence it and how (if any)?
What are the main and rare physical sensations?
What are tricks that help you? How did you find what works and what doesn't?
What makes it worse?
I'll start.
I often feel a mix of creatures, undead or generally nonhuman. But primarily zombie, vampire, siren or some sort of living dead thing that either isn't supposed to be on land or function like a living human.
It fluctuates a lot every episode, more often than not when I don't realize it is an episode i feel cybernetic or robotic, I'm only starting to recognize that as my more common episodes now. The more subtle ones at least.
My anemia, arthritis and other physical disabilities I have all effect it, but having DID means it can change and present differently based on who's fronting too.
My anemia makes me cold as a corpse most days, low blood circulation and pale complexion in top of being a walking icicle has made me a target for vampire comments growing up, my need for iron often feels like a thirst for blood. It can also feel like a hunger for flesh especially if I haven't eaten or slept properly when you take my Ed and insomnia into count.
The aches caused by my arthritis and chronic pain are more often than not soothed by water, making me feel like I need to go back to the ocean or sea to get out of this human skin and feel better and more free where my body is better suited. I often find myself violently scratching at my skin either because of eczema or something else which only contributes to the idea
That list goes on for a while
The main sensations are completely weighted like my body is just actual dead weight, heavy limbs and all, manual breathing switches on and my joints and limbs ache like they're going to fall off or are sore from being locked rigor mortis or because they're currently in rigor mortis. I'm not sure how to explain it but I'll also feel as if organs are missing.
There's also rarely ever feeling hunger and if I do it's cravings, not the sweet tooth kind, same with the need for other bodily functions.
Some rare feelings are a drill going through my head, not in the headache sense, my heart briefly stopping, things crawling on or under my skin, electricity running through my body and my teeth changing.
Tricks that sometimes help me are eating something, a snack or a meal just help me remember the body still needs it, checking for my pulse though it can be a hit or miss if the episode is really bad, and something cold like ice to shock my senses into resetting and waking up.
I found out most of them through anxiety attacks or times I felt really sick, I just kept using them because they seemed to help. There was a bit of trial and error, I found people reassuring me I'm alive and basically reality checking me doesn't help at all just makes me uncomfortable to be around them at worst and in one ear out the other at best. Often when someone tries giving me reassurance my brain treats it as a bold faced lie.
Mentally my depression and trauma or triggers all make the episodes worse, especially if I have trouble finding my pulse on my neck out of panic, or times I just can't taste things or my senses feel off. But overall times I feel sick are when my brain starts getting convinced I'm on my deathbed any second now or the body has finally given up.
I'm happy to answer any questions
What's it like for you?

For the last four weeks, I've been on Spireva to treat my asthma. The entire time, my voice was crapped out, it felt like I had phlegm in the back of my throat, had to constantly clear my throat, and my eczema has been in a mass flare-up.
Tomorrow, I'm supposed to start using Incruse for two months to see how I do.
Wanna guess what both these meds contain? I was looking over the information in the box the medicine came in. The Spireva was given to me as samples from the doctor's office, so no such info packet. If I had seen the information, I wouldn't have use the medicine.
They both contain milk proteins.
I'M ALLERGIC TO MILK!!!
The doctor who prescribed the medicine? An allergist. It says right there on the screen that I'm allergic to milk. Why tf did they give me this medicine? I'm fucking baffled. Are they unaware of the ingredients?
If I wanna suffer a flare-up, I'll go weeks without any milk products, and then go to the ice cream shop and get a big serving of soft serve, then spend the next two weeks dealing with a flare-up. This, however, has been constant. Like what it used to be like before I know milk was fucking me up royally. I can use goat's milk, but nothing containing cow dairy.
When I had brought up the side effects of the Spireva this morning at my appointment at the allergy and asthma clinic, she explained some patients have experienced the same, but none of them with the Incruse, and those that experienced it with that medicine didn't with the other. I call bullshit.
I left a message with the clinic tonight, and they won't hear it until Monday. Maybe the doctor will finally understand why so many patients complain about the medicine. It contains a common allergen, and she's either been wildly unaware or decided it was worth the risk.
My hope is my airways don't fucking me over again, that I would need just this one round of the inhaled muscle relaxant and won't need more. I'm getting a refill for my nebulizer, and hopefully the 30 doses will be all I need to get through the fire season.

Why I hate how dandruff is presented
You've all seen the jokes- old man with dandruff, shaking his head and a cloud of snow falls down, dandruff just being there for a laugh... It's never treated as anything serious, ever. It's just a joke! And just a joke about old men at that.
I'm 17 years old. I've had dandruff since I was at least 11. I've been made fun of all that time for the white flakes that are a constant on my head.
I just saw dandruff as a joke, too.
At most, it was just my scalp being a bit dry, so it needed a moisturising shampoo.
Yeah.... Turns out I have scalp psoriasis. I'm in near constant pain, which gets worse whenever I'm ill or stressed, because psoriasis is an autoimmune disease. My immune system is attacking my own skin. It's gotten to the point where shampoo doesn't help. I'm just in pain, always. I'll have a doctor's appointment where we can discuss options soon hopefully.
It's painful enough that I end up with scabbing all over my scalp from scratching. I pull my hands away and my nails are bloody from repeatedly picking and itching the scabs.
So no, not just a funny joke.
When I mentioned how painful it was to my friend, (only referring to it as dandruff rather than psoriasis) he said "I didn't realise dandruff could be painful!". In fact, several conditions that can cause dandruff have the fact that they're itchy or sore in their their symptoms list- eczema, dermatitis, and of course psoriasis.
And yet people just see dandruff as a joke. Even now, I feel anxious writing this- I feel like someone's gonna read this and think 'why are they getting so serious about dandruff? Lighten up!'
Sure, for some people it's not painful. Just flaky. But even then, they can experience the same social issues I did- I still remember a pair of kids seeing my large white skin flakes on my dark hair and exclaiming that I had nits (lice for Americans), and running away shouting at me. I hate that it's treated as a joke, or stigmatised, and seen as just an old man thing.
It's an actually serious issue for so many people. Why isn't it treated as such?

In this ongoing learning curve of "oh, these symptoms are actually an allergy response," I've come across some products for use around my house. I've been dealing with dryness on my hands for absolute years, requiring daily moisturizing to combat and keeping cuticle clippers handy to trim off the hang-nails before they get ripped off. I also trim off the slivers of skin that peel back from behind my nails (not technically hang-nails, I don't think).
For the record, I've always struggled with Dawn dish soap (aggressively dries out my hands and will make my knuckles itch and split) and generally stuck to Palmolive (raised on it). I have always been allergic to Dove products (bar soaps, body wash, etc - I blamed the moisturizers in them. No idea if that's the real culprit or not) and have generally used Softsoap or similar products for hand soap. After discovering that everything I was using had fragrance I couldn't smell, I swapped to these products that I could find in my local WinCo.
Ecos Hypoallergenic Dish Soap
Tumblr media
Seems to be as effective as the Palmolive. I might be using a bit more soap for the same degreasing effects, or it might just be that since I haven't found a major refill bottle to buy, I'm noticing how fast I go through a bottle (I'm very aggressive in my dish soap use, so this isn't unusual).
Sappho Hill Bar Soaps
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I got the Natural one and stuck one on a soap tray in each bathroom in my house. Rinses nicely off my hands and leaves that clean feeling. I haven't aggressively tested it against oils and grease from working on the motorcycle or something similar yet.
The overall redness of my hands has decreased and I'm not struggling with massive levels of dryness anymore. I haven't been picking up the cuticle clippers hardly at all either anymore, though I will admit to not having been paying as close attention to that side effect. I think my nails may also be getting stronger, but I think that correlates more with oral antihistamines more than the soaps. I've had the new products in use for 2-3 weeks now. I think I noted the possible changes in nail thickness over a month ago.
Now that I'm paying more attention, I think I'm also reacting to my shampoo and conditioner, and maybe the body wash. I installed a shower filter that I think made a small difference in the level of red on my chest after taking a shower, but I'm definitely still having issues there. Now that I'm paying attention, the redness pattern seems primarily isolated to my hands, forearms, face and chest, which tracks with the shampoo and conditioner. And I've definitely seen that it shows up right after using my shampoo. So that will be getting swapped out next.
I've also had oily hair but a flaky scalp for like... Ever. I had a brief period of time where that went away when I was being treated for acne with whatever that Vit-A derivative medication is. And then it went away again for a week or two when I was taking all the MCAS meds (I sadly ran into problems with the pharmacy for one medication and started reacting to another, so had to quit both of them). I'm kinda hoping that maybe the oily hair/dry scalp problem is another allergy related issue that I can treat with the appropriate products.
For moisturizing, I currently use Renew Lotion by the Melaleuca Company*. I started using it years ago when I lived on the top of the mountain in Colorado and my skin could not stay hydrated at all. Most lotions barley got me through 24 hours. This stuff took care of my skin for like a week. I've had multiple people who are medical professionals try it and love it (because it helps combat the dryness of constantly washing their hands). I've also had folks who have eczema use it and claim it is better than their prescription lotions. It's not cheap, but it's worth every penny in terms of how much less you need of it and how long the effects last. I will be considering it as another potential allergen source at a later date. For now, I'm barely using it, so I'm not super concerned at the moment.
*Yes, the Melaleuca Company is an MLM from what I can tell. I get the lotion because it's the best thing I've ever found. They have a variety of other products that are probably good as well (tea tree oil is the big component of their stuff) that I have never tried. I get the lotion on Amazon, which is probably about double the cost of what you would pay if you found someone selling the products directly (I used to get it for $20 a bottle with I had friends who worked for them). So, yes, MLM sucks, but products are solid.
Side note, I stumbled over this thread with recommendations for hypoallergenic products for MCAS folks:
Anyway. Just recording things and the process for future me/other people. Goodness knows it's reading things like this that has helped me figure a ton of shit out in the past.
