Let’s Get Intimate

(Bennett x Xingqiu) Genshin Impact

It’s been days since Bennett has last seen his boyfriend. Xingqiu was occupied with his studies and overall catching up with his latest novels. The white haired boy wished Xingqiu would spend time with him instead of having a book in his hand twenty four seven.

He knew the teal haired boy was a total bookworm but during dates he would like Xingqiu to leave the books on a bookshelf where they belong. It hasn’t been a month and Bennett feels that their relationship is falling apart.

“Maybe you should talk to Lisa about it. She’s a sex counselor after all.” Aether advises the confused white haired boy when they had met up for lunch in the city.

“I didn’t mean that kind of intimate.” A heavy blush appears across his face at Aether’s words. “I just want Xing to give his attention to me. I want to find something we can enjoy together.”

“That applies to sex too.” The blonde jokes playfully rolling his eyes before digging into his fishermen’s toast.

“It’s not, I promise. We’re not even ready for that stage yet. I don’t see how Lisa can even help.” Bennett grumbles resting his chin on his fists.

“Regardless she’s still a counselor, I’m sure she can figure out something you can do for your relationship.” Aether shrugs his shoulders and the white haired boy gives in taking his advice.

     Off to the sex counselor, he goes.

Bennett waits in the lobby watching couples one by one go inside Lisa’s office. Maybe he should’ve brought Xingqiu. No, it would’ve been too embarrassing. Going by himself, is already embarrassing enough.

“Bennett?” He hears Lisa’s voice calling for him and he jumps out of the chair heading to her office at the end of the hallway.

“What brings you here? You’re the last person I’d expect in my office.” She giggles behind the open book in her hand.

“Well, it’s not really a sex related issue.” Bennett glancing at the ground though he couldn’t stop his cheeks from blushing.

“Oh?” She closes her book leaning forward.

“You know Xingqiu my boyfriend? We just haven’t really been spending time together ever since we started dating. He’s always got his face buried in a book, he won’t pay attention to me. I just want to be intimate with in some way.” The white haired boy explains his dilemma and she nods her head.

“What’s your version of intimacy, Bennett? When you say intimate, what do you mean?”

“Well Uh, I just want to be closer with him. I want to continue holding his hand, hugging him, and kissing him. I also want to have deep conversations with him, I want to know what makes him happy, what he wants in life, his past and our future together. I want to know everything about him but it’s hard when he can’t go one day without reading.”

“I see. Have you tried talking to him about your feelings? Does he know that he’s hurting you?” She gathers in the information.

“Erm no. I haven’t told him.” Bennett slumps in his chair fidgeting with his fingers.

“You should communicate how you’re feeling with Xingqiu, he honestly might not even know what he is doing, is wrong. You should express that your feelings are hurt because he is ignoring you and to set some boundaries. Maybe every time you two go out together, tell him to leave his books at home. It’s your time to be together as a couple. If you can’t communicate, your relationship will always fail.” Lisa advises the white haired boy.

“I just don’t want him to be angry with me. I know he loves his books, probably more than his own life. I don’t want him to get the wrong idea.” Bennett remarked but Lisa shakes her head.

“I’m sure he can make time for you as he can for his books. If he really likes you, I’m sure he’ll listen to your feelings and want to make things work.” She gives Bennett’s a smile patting his hand. “Also if you want another idea of physical intimacy, tickling is a good way to bond with someone.”

“Oh, I never thought of that.” Bennett hums glancing up at the ceiling. He always thought tickling was for kids. He remembered the times when his dads would tickle him whenever he was younger.

“Only if Xingqiu is in a good mood and seems okay with it. If he says stop, stop immediately.”

“Okay, I think I get it now.” Bennett shoots up out of the chair. “Thanks!”

“Wait! We still have so much to talk about!” Lisa calls after the white haired boy who had already sprinted out the front door.

The white haired boy reaches his boyfriend’s estate ringing the doorbell nonstop.

“Ugh it’s you.” Xingqiu’s brother answers the door with a disgusted look plastered on his face. He was appalled that his brother didn’t date someone of their class rather a fiery pyro user with one brain cell. Bennett happened to be a loud, reckless, and daring individual. The complete opposite of Xingqiu and don’t get him started on Bennett’s bad luck.

“Is Xingqiu here? I want to see him.” Bennett tried to peek past the brother’s side.

“Fine, I will get him out. Don’t set foot in our house.” The man scoffs leaving the door ajar as he searches for his younger brother.

Bennett impatiently taps his foot and a minute later Xingqiu is at the doorway.

“What’re you doing here, Benny?” The teal haired boy tilts his head like a dog raising an eyebrow.

“Let’s go on a date! You don’t need this.” Bennett grabs the book out of his hand setting it on top of a table by the door.

“Wait! Benny!” Xingqiu whines behind as the white haired boy drags him out the city.

Bennett leads them to the fields of Starfell Valley as they sit on the edge of the cliff more like the white haired boy was the one sitting on the edge of the cliff.

“Why did you bring me here?” A pout forms on Xingqiu’s face.

“I wanted to talk to you also we haven’t seen each other in forever.” Bennett wraps his arm around the other pulling him close and the teal haired boy couldn’t help but smile.

“I missed you too.” Xingqiu admits. “What did you want to talk about?”

“You’ve been hurting my feelings for the past two weeks.” The white haired boy lets out a sigh praying Xingqiu wouldn’t take his words as an insult.

“I have? What did I do?” A worried look spreads onto the other’s face.

“We never get to do anything fun like other couples do. Razor and Aether go on adventures together. Diluc and Kaeya go to the market together on the weekends. We haven’t done none of those things because you’re always studying or reading your books.”

“Reading is a part of my life, Benny. Do you expect me to give up my hobby?” Xingqiu furrows an eyebrow at the white haired boy.

“No, not at all.” Bennett shakes his head.” I want to spend time with you, not your books. I want your full undivided attention and I’ll give you mine.”

“Hmm I guess I have been bringing my books everywhere we go.” Xingqiu taps his chin recalling his memories. “But I do make time for you too, I still choose to go out with you even when I have exams the next day.”

“I know studying is important for you too. If you have exams, let me know. I want you to focus on your classes.” Bennett smiles patting Xingqiu on the head. 

“Does this mean you don’t want me to read you bed time stories anymore?�� A pout forms on Xingqiu’s face, a look Bennett couldn’t resist.

“Of course I still want to listen to Xing’s bed time stories!” The white haired boy lunges for the other wrapping his arms around Xingqiu’s waist.

The bookworm squeals at the fingers digging into his sides.

“Hey!” Xingqiu bubbles with laughter feeling immobilized as Bennett straddled him with his weight.

“Aahaha! N-not there!” The teal haired boy shrieks squeezing his eyes shut as Bennett goes for his upper ribs.

“You didn’t tell me to stop, so you must like this.” A smirk crawls onto the white haired boy’s face watching Xingqiu all vulnerable underneath him.

“I ahahahaha-dont!” The bookworm struggles from his grasp though he loses his focus when Bennett’s fingers slip under his jacket.

Xingqiu cries out at the warm sensation of the other’s fingers roaming all over his tummy, he needed to find a way out. He needed to fight back.

“If you want a hint Benny, my hips are ticklish too.” The teal haired boy adds pretending to blush at the other. That should guide Bennett’s arms and hands away.

“Okay!” The white haired boy cluelessly takes in his suggestion squeezing at his hips though he wasn’t earning much of a reaction.

Xingqiu makes his move with his free arm jabbing his finger into Bennett’s navel hoping that’ll get the white haired boy off of him.

Bennett squeals doubling over falling on his side holding his abdomen and Xingqiu takes the chance to pounce on his boyfriend.

“Hehehehee! This isn’t fair!” The white haired boy yells out in laughter as Xingqiu’s cold fingers claw at his exposed tummy.

“I have tricks up my sleeve too, you know.” The teal haired boy teases the other who was too busy babbling with laughter to pay attention to his words.

“You only ahahaha got me because of my bad ahahaluck!” Bennett denies the truth and Xingqiu retaliates squeezing the sides of his tummy.

“Sure, blame everything that happens to you on your bad luck.” A chuckle escapes the bookworm’s lips knowing that he had Bennett where he wanted him.

Xingqiu realizes that the other had learned his lesson growing tired to fight back and his laughter subsiding to wheezing and gasping.

“Thanks for uhhh just being!” Bennett embraces the teal haired boy into a tight hug and a small smile finds its way across Xingqiu’s face.

“Thanks for just being too.” He couldn’t help but laugh at Bennet’s weird choice of words. Another reason to add on why he loves his boyfriend.

SURVIVAL GUIDE & STUDY TIPS

hello everyone!! this post is a collab with the lovely and amazing @boinkhs because we've both reached 2k followers :D she'll be doing study tips for college students and i'll be doing study tips for high schoolers. check out her post here!

i've split this into part 1. survival, which concerns how to study & learn better in general and just tips on how to get through high school. part 2. is on specific study tips for each type of subject, namely sciences, maths, languages and humanities.

1. Don't snooze please

you just end up snoozing 5 times then you’re late for school

2. If you find you have difficulty getting out of bed, just keep in mind ONE TASK you need to do.

for example, making your bed. then you just gotta focus on that! it should help fight the sleepiness because you’re forcing your brain and limbs to be active.

3. Do the necessary things like brushing your teeth, putting on clothes and eat breakfast

i don’t know why but some people don’t eat breakfast before coming to school like ???? excuse me ???? please eat at least a small snack, or a fruit or something. your body doesnt function on an empty stomach! also, drink some water to hydrate yourself

4. On the road, you should do something that puts you in a good mood.

for me, i go straight to spotify and listen to my playlist. you should also review the previous day’s learning so that you refresh your memory before going back to class. personally this is my fav part of the day HAHAHA

5. If you like, you can choose to read a book.

just make sure you’re calm but ‘warmed up’ to focusing in a sense.

1. Hydrate frequently

idk man it just keeps you awake + i dont feel so icky if i drink enough water

2. Learn actively

if the teacher asks questions, try to answer. sit at the front row. offer to help give out the worksheets or notes. clarify your doubts after. when they speak, copy down notes. don’t worry about the aesthetic; i mean you can but you need to write fast and neat which unfortunately doesnt come together very often. i suggest you spend more brain power digesting and understanding the content.

3. Don’t over highlight

ONLY KEY POINTS that are stressed by the teacher. you can tell when their tone changes, expression changes, when they use more hand motions, or they keep repeating a few key words. yes , that. highlight that. stare at it while listening to them speak. make sure you understand. if you don’t please ask. but make sure you don’t have a fluorescent page because that’s not ideal study material!

4. Write down any questions you have

if they’re answered in the lesson, cancel them off. if not, ask after the lesson. dont be scared! *sends virtual courage*

5. Use whatever free time you have to finish homework

because you’re gonna thank yourself later. you should spend more time at home revising than doing homework. ( doing homework isnt equivalent to revising PLEASE I KNOW SO MANY PEOPLE WHO SAY THEY REVISED FOR 3 HOURS BUT ALL THEY DID WAS HOMEWORK ) also it feels better knowing you have one less thing to worry about

6. Record down all assignments, due dates and test dates

do it in a planner or your phone. doesn’t matter just keep them somewhere. it can be demoralising to see an entire entry of shit to get done but still it’s better than not knowing what needs to be done. ignorance is NOT bliss. try to color code or symbol code them, for example • for assignments (due date behind), - for tests etc. act on this when you go home (see below)

7. Have a file/binder some form of organisation to keep different subjects’ worksheets, tests, notes, reading etc.

you can have one massive binder, one binder for each subject, one folder file for each subject or anything that suits you. for me, i clip all materials of one subject together with a binder clip. the materials i use most are at the front for easy reference. then put those bundles into zipper files, perhaps one for math and sciences, another for languages and humanities. or whatever suits you best! make sure you have everything in one place so you don’t panic and dig through a pile of dog-eared paper.

8. If you can, when it’s near the exam period, don’t stay back after school unless it’s to study.

i used to stay back for training and to play volleyball with my friends and i kid you not we would play from 2pm to 6.30 pm and get nothing done but it was fun. and i’m not saying deprive yourself of that fun but when the exams are near, you should be studying somewhere quiet/ somewhere you can focus. you should go somewhere (preferably home) where you can focus and get things done.

9. Decide if you’re a lone wolf or if you need a study buddy/study group

personally i’m a lone wolf because i hate distractions and i don’t want to distract others. but when my friends ask me for help i don’t mind staying back a little to teach them and/or study with them. Personally i find that for subjects like english which require you to write about an array of topics, studying with someone else can help in generation of essay points and to just broaden your understanding of the topic. so yeah it really depends, just do what suits you :)

10. Take notes in class

try to understand while copying, and if you didn’t understand something, you should raise your hand and ask for the teacher to repeat so that you hear it again. also, it gives you more time to take notes as they re-explain the content. read them after the lesson is over to help internalise some facts. you can create your own method of organisation for your notes, e.g. colour coding.

1. Review the day’s learning on the way home.

if you take public transport, try to flip through your notes and worksheets to review new content for the first time.

2. Eat lunch, have a snack, take a shower, everything that’s necessary.

if you use your phone while eating, make sure you don’t eat slowly just to use your phone because that’s wasting time.

3. If you’re super tired, just have a 15-20min power nap

nothing more otherwise you will NEVER wake up until the dead of night. just take a nap to get some energy back. doesnt matter if you wake up feeling more tired, because you’ll shake that feeling in a while. keep a glass of water beside you so that you can drink it once you wake up!

4. Look through your ‘list’ that you made earlier in the day. (in class, pt. 6)

you might want to spend max 10 mins updating your schedule. then stare at the dreaded homework. start with the easiest and least time consuming to build up momentum. this could actually be the remainder of what you’ve finished in school. then look at the due dates. do them in order of due dates. unless it’s a huge project or assignment, you might want a head start on it!

5. With the remaining time, you should start revising

review the day’s learning AGAIN.

make notes/mindmaps/flashcards whatever works for you. you should prioritise the subject or chapter that you were most confused about. quickly revise and try to clear up any questions you have about the chapter. if you have additional time, go ahead and make notes for the next subject! another way is going through corrections and clarifying your doubts with friends/teachers, and summarise the day’s learning on a post-it or two. if you’ve already taken notes in class, look at other sources e.g textbook and combine what you’ve learnt before re-writing or re-organising your notes.

1. Pack your bag!

remove unnecessary materials, and pack the necessary one. make sure your bag isnt too heavy. you can choose to hand carry some files or binders if they’re too bulky, but make sure you’re all packed before the next morning

2. Have a meal & clean up

again, basic necessities. don’t go to bed hungry or feeling icky because thats not how you treat yo self!

Before class:

if you’re going to continue on a chapter, review the content that came before it. Try to make your own connections between the already learnt and to-be learnt content so that you’re mentally ready for class.

In class:

take down notes, highlight, annotate and DRAW DIAGRAMS. you can’t do sciences without diagrams. for physics or chemistry which require more calculation, copy down the problems your teacher goes through and solve them along with him/her. write the formulas on a post it note so you can stick it onto the page where you’re writing for easy reference. if the teacher plays a video which is MOST DEFINITELY NOT GOING TO WAIT FOR YOU you have to write only the relevant points in the most abbreviated form possible.

Note-taking:

I find that linear notes help me most in sciences. for chapters that involve lots of interconnected processes, for example o chem, then mindmaps or flowcharts will be helpful. also if you tend to forget something, post-it that stuff on the front page of your notes where you are FORCED to stare at it. yes. write down example problems and their steps, then write explanations for each step so that if you’re confused you can always refer back. again, draw any required diagrams.

Answering techniques:

if there’s a ‘standard’ way to answer it then you have to make sure you follow that way even in your homework because it’s muscle memory. when you get to exams, your hand will automatically write in the same format so you don’t lose marks or spend time recalling the correct format.

imo sciences are quite logical so as long as you remember and follow the flow you’ll be fine!

In class:

copy key terms, facts and examples and write all examples that the teacher has gone through. write all formulas and definitions on a post it, then shift it around the pages as needed. if there’s a type of problem you particularly suck at, ask your teacher for help IMMEDIATELY because it’s so easy to forget the steps to a problem.

At home:

do your homework, do additional practice, correct your mistakes, clarify, and repeat. memorise formulas and definitions (perhaps using flashcards or post its) then practice more and make sure your concepts are strong. there’s no easy way and sadly this is all i can comment.

In class:

copy down notes, think actively, and if you’re given a sample essay you should annotate the heck out of it and keep it somewhere safe.

For essays:

read up more and write up. befriend the best writer in class and ask for their essays. write essay plans and consult your teacher. brainstorm possible approaches with friends. read the news, and copy the links of interesting online articles for future reference. have a go-to list of examples and quotes you can use, for any and every topic. read these like your bedtime story and never forget to keep updating them.

For comprehension passages:

read the questions first. then you’ll be more sensitive to what you need to read in the passage and how you need to analyse it. try to question yourself about how and why the author does something or makes you feel something. do not rush-read the passage or you will fail horribly (personal experience). do one or two extra comprehensions and ask your teacher to mark them.

In class:

ARROWS TO LINK EVERYTHING and annotate any class notes given. write down new examples provided by the teacher. if there is a link you ‘can check out’ go check it out. it’s probably something thats gonna be on the exam.

At home:

you have to rely on mindmapping and flow charts because everything is linked in some way and you cannot ignore those links!!!! although i do my humanities notes in linear form, my in class notes are all in the form of mindmaps. and actually i revise from those in a pinch because i can see everything at one go. watch vids on the concepts, for example plate tectonics. those things are so hard to see when they’re deadass sitting on the page and not budging. watch a video where they really move instead of being frozen.

If you’re so frickin lost:

watch more videos on the concepts, watch more videos on the events, search up interpretations online and ask your teachers!!! for everyone who gets equally lost as me when i’m faced with a new chapter, another way is to pre-read before the teacher starts teaching. if you’re lazy to read just watch a couple clips on it so that at least you have some background. even if you wake up the next day with 0 concrete memory, which you won’t, you’ll already have the flow of things which will help you if you’re usually the straggler.

Some college hacks by me

Here is (most) of my desktop.  Here are some things I do to make sure I stay on top of everything and make things easier for myself, especially since the switch to fully online.

Post-it notes.  Keep one for each class and maybe one extra for a ‘to do’ list so all of it is in one spot.  On these notes, I have class time, days when things are due, and extra notes like ‘Exam monday’ for my Neuro class.  If I scroll down in my notes, you can see in the expanded purple one, I have most of a header typed out.

I just copy and paste.  Super easy, don’t have to remember course name or prof name.  Boom.

Continuing, I have the prof’s (and TA’s) emails.  Stop searching for them every time something goes wrong.  Boom, right there.

On the Spanish one, I have all the possible accented letters and the upside down ! ? so I never have to search for them on google and I don’t have to learn how to type them in Word.  Boom, right there.  Highlight, copy, paste.

Under each post-it note I have important documents.  Of course the folder for the class is first, but then documents I use on a very regular basis, or that are upcoming projects.

Under sleep class is the folder, then a templet for discussion boards I copy and paste at least twice a week, and the next discussion post that will be summited in a few days but I’m already done it so I dont have to dig through a million of my other posts to find the right one.  It’s right there.  To make this even easier, I put my default ‘save location’ as my desktop.  You can always move it later, but I’ve lost files because of weird default save locations I couldn’t find.

Also, in spanish, I made a sheet full of important, and hard to remember, conjugations and grammar rules.

Easy to find what I need.  I have one for spanish one (on the bottom of my desktop) also.

Lastly, put your last name on the beginning of EVERY PAPER YOU TURN IN.  If you have a common last name, I would recommend also putting first name or initial to make it easy on the prof to sort through files without having to open them.  If my last name was Smith, EVERY file I turn it is ‘Smith Discussion board 3′.  ‘Smith HW 3′.  ‘Smith, Damien Article Critique’.  It will make it so much easier on your prof and your assignment is harder to get lost in the millions of others or mixed up with another students.  The only problem with that is your folders might get a bit mixed up since all of the documents start with the same thing, it might mess up alphabetically (I have noticed, but not too severe).

Anyway, those are things that make school just a touch easier, so feel free to share and try them out.  Tell me what you think.

Jay walked into the bullpin the next day with a smile on his face, a smile that hasnt been on his face in a long time & he missed it. He notices the guys sitting at their desks so he made his way toward them.

Oh no...There wasnt a date at all because she decided not to show up.

The reason that i am in a good mood is because of me being stood up last night i just decided that i would go to the bar in the resturant and get drunk but i ended up meeting a woman who was in town for business and we just had a great talk and by the time that she left to go back to her room my mind had been taken off the fact that i had been stood up. It didnt really matter to me at the point.

Oh so did you happen to get this womans name?

I did but i know that i am probably never going to see her again....so i am not telling you her name im just gonna know that i enjoyed her company last night.

It was just a general conversation. Nothing deep, but as she walked away to head back up to her room I just couldnt help but to look back & I am glad that I did because when I did I she must have also had the same feeling because she was looking right back at me..

Saying that she was nervous about this interview today is understatment, she couldnt think straight she was never this nervous about anything but she wanted this spot really bad. She was trying to remind herself to just be her, that what she had done in the past for her job would show them that she was a great choice for this. As she looked herself over one more time in the mirror she decided to head out a little early so she could get some coffee before heading over to the precinct.

She was standing at the bottom of the steps, right before she enters she takes a deep breath and tells herself "You got this". She walks to the front desk and she sees a lady standing there who must be over everything so she walks up to the lady confidently.

She sits paitently yet anxiously, thinking over the things that could possibly be ask and the answers that she would give him. As she is sit there lost in thought she hears the cage door slam and brings her out of her thoughts. She stands as she sees a man walking in her direction.

Hello Agent Burgess I am Sargent Voight. Its nice to meet you Erin has told me so much about you.

Hello Sargent Voight its so nice to meet you. Likewise she told me great things about you.

Lets head upstairs so that we can talk a little bit more. He heads toward the cage as he opens the door he motions for you to head in, you both walk up the stairs carrying on the small conversation on how Erin is. As you make it to the top of the steps you notice the team is fast at work on whatever their case is today. You scan the room and notice there are 5 people, 4 men and 1 woman. You walk to the office quietly not really paying attention to the faces of the team.

As she enters the office she takes the first seat available & Sargent Voight takes the seat opposite of you behind the desk. The conversation flowed like you had known each other for years and every question he asked you, you answered the question the best way that you knew how to. By the end of it you both somehow ended up laughing and you dont exactly remember how that happened.

So Kim if you were given the position would you be willing to take our detective exam?

Yes I would have no problem doing taking the exam. I know things are run differently here then what I am used to but I am willing the learn the way that you run your things down here.

With everything being said Agent Kim Burgess I would formally like to offer you the open spot that I have here in the Intelligence Unit if you would like to take it.

I have been with the FBI for almost 5 years and there is just times that its just to much for me. I have always wanted to work in a smaller team of people like here in Intelligence, so when a friend offered to try and get me an interview with Sargent Voight I could turn the chance down.

Short Term Productivity

Use a stickynote/index card and write a couple goals for today only. Don’t write too many or you will feel overwhelmed! Stick it on your laptop or planner or notebook (somewhere you will see it)

Have a whiteboard at your desk and write down things you need to remember (like a simple equation or some vocab)

While waiting for something (the bus, your coffee, the shower to warm up) have something to recite in your head (probably something you already know, but would like to reALLY KNOW)

When you read, try to tie big concepts to things you would remember easily (like acronyms or symbols) like for example i remember gen chem oxidation as OIL RIG: Oxidation is Loss (of electrons) and Reduction is Gain (of electrons) and I remember the first four unordinary hydrocarbons from Me Eat Peanut Butter (lmao): Methane, Ethane, Propane, Butane

Longer Term Productivity

Plan out your weeks!!! Plan when you will study on each day of the week and keep track of due dates

Make it a habit to do homework/assignments AS SOON AS YOU CAN (like right after you snack or something after classes)

Try not to think about how long you will study and rather think about the number of topics you will study

Don’t stop until you feel confident in your knowledge OTHERWISE YOULL JUST LOSE IT IT ALL 

Keep your notes organized because you never know when something is gonna bite you in the butt again in the future

Review everyday. Like, Serioouslyyyy. It helps a lot.

Read before going to bed instead of being on your phone for 400 hours :C I THINK ITS TRUE THAT THE STUFF YOU READ BEFORE BED STAYS WITH YOU BETTER BC YOU GET TO SLEEP ON IT

Try to keep your area quiet or have only white background noise because if someone is talking about the weather and you’re studying math, best believe you’ll only remember the weather

Reading a Textbook

Most of the time, you don’t need to read the introduction paragraphs.

Read the bolded titles to see what you will be getting into

Before class you can skim lightly!! It will help you not feel lost in class

AFTER CLASS you will now FOCUS YOUR READING ON WHAT WAS SAID IN CLASS because most of the time, class-covered topics ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT! save yoself some time!!

When reading after class, do NOT just read. If you go over something that makes you go ??? in even the slightest way, read it again to understand. Look it up. Do it in THAT moment because you’re gonna forget to do it later.

If you don’t wanna read the whole darn book because ur lazy (like me) or you are cramming, READ!! THE!! SUMMARY!!! 

The back of the book might have some seriously useful appendixes 

Try not to skip the diagrams and pictures lol they’re there for a reason

Taking Notes in Class

dont be on your phone or whatever during class time Like actually PAy attention because if you learn it now, you won’t have to try to learn it again later (you can be on your phone later)

Take down everything written on the boards FOR SURE because if the professor/teacher thinks it’s important to write it, you better think it’s important too

Be an engaged listener! Don’t let it slide straight thru ur head

Try not to scribble your notes so you can read it later

Make CLEAR HEADERS for the topics so you can find those notes quickly

Def make friends in class in case you miss something on the notes ://

Doing Practice Problems and Homework

Get yoUR HOMEWORK DONE FIRST OF ALL

Homework is seriously a great study tool because your instructor assigned that FOR A REASON (aka it’s prob gonna be tested on)

Try to know what you are doing before you start the homework so that you don’t feel lost as heck doing it

When doing practice problems, if you have the answers, don’t be afraid to look at the answer the first time around if you don’t know how to do it. IVE SELF TAUGHT MYSELF SOOOOO MUCH by just looking at the answer to a question.

DONT RELY ON THE ANSWERS THO

Don’t memorize how to do the practice problems, you should memorize the method of solving the problem and understand each step clearly (and understand WHY you do that step!!!) just in case the test pulls some funky stuff on you

The more you can do, the better. But don’t be sleepy and do them because you won’t really retain anything

Other Random Things

My organic chem professor actually did a funny study on sleep and test scores. He said on his final exam he asked “How many hours of sleep did you get last night?” 

and like obviously the more hours of sleep reported, generally the higher the student scored on the exam

SLEEEEPING IS GOOD FOR YOUR LEARNING

WHEN YOU SLEEP AND HIT THE REM CYCLE, YOUR BRAIN PROCESSES THE INFORMATION BETTER and it will really stay with you. So yall need to sleep. Don’t do the all nighters. You won’t remember anything

chan has a habit of keeping up a strong facade, especially as the oldest in his family

and sometimes his group of friends have an effect on him to break down those walls

but even those instances dont come so often and yet he’s still strong enough to hold it in

or at least for now

you’ve known him for at least three years and all of it started with a very cliche moment of knocking into each other, more than once and quite literally

you had just gotten your exams over and done with and had decided to treat yourself to something sweet at the campus’s cafe

after ordering a small slice of cake, you turned around to head back to your seat until hot liquid poured all over your blouse, scalding you a little in the process

“oh god i’m so sorry,” a tall figure apologizes to you profusely, bringing out napkins from the counter while his friend instinctively took his hoodie off of himself

“he’s a little clumsy but i hope this hoodie will do,” the shorter one apologizes on his behalf as he gives you the hoodie but you were quick to refuse

“its not like i have anywhere else to go, and it’s not as warm with the ac on,” you muster up a smile, even though your skin was burning under your shirt

“either way, it’ll make us look like the biggest idiots for not helping you out. take it, i have more than just one hoodie,” he grin, his strong resolve to give you his hoodie was undefeatable

“if you say so. what’s your name? or maybe your number? so i can at least give it back,” and maybe your high five-ing yourself for taking this cute boy’s number with the best opportunity, fetching out your phone 

“here, let me put in my number,” he quickly types it in and gives it back

“lee chan? i guess we’ll see each other soon,” you chuckle, thanking him once more for the sweet gesture as you went to the washroom to change

“so our little baby finally asked out a girl?” mingyu teased chan, nudging him in the ribs

“for once i thank god for making you this tall clumsy giant,” he shook his head but the smile on his face never wavers

but the second time you guys meet wasnt as soon as you had thought it would be

once your grades had been keyed in, you couldnt help but forget about the cute boy’s number, a little disappointed at the fact that it wasnt up to your expectations

with a sigh, you decided it would be best to just walk it off, and get some fresh air from being so cooped up in your dorm and lecture rooms

the park near your dorm was peaceful and calming, the harmonization of the cicadas as well as the chilly breeze made it worthwhile

you were too busy admiring the night sky with your earphones plugged in to notice a figure bulldozing your way

the both of you collide, falling to the rough pavement as you rubbed your butt

just as you were about to apologize, a familiar face sits on the opposite side of you

but you dont see a smile on that face, or that reassuring aura he exuded that day

instead you him curled up in a different hoodie, tears streaming down his face, making his eyes turn blood-shot red and the tip of his nose reddening 

“lee chan?” you dont even realize your voice coming out as a whisper, his vulnerable state having such a big effect on you

you dont even get up from the floor and instead, sat with your legs crossed, holding his hand cautiously

“what’s wrong?” you whisper once more, this time drawing circles with your thumb on the top of his palm

but that only urged him to bawl his eyes out even more

he must have kept it in for a long time, you thought

without another word, you sat beside him and wrapped an arm over his shaking shoulders

after a few minutes, chan’s sobs turn into sniffles and you chuckle as you take another look at him

“i didnt want our second meeting to be this way, but i guess you look pretty cute with rudolph’s nose,” you tease a little as a small smile threaten to adorn his face

“me neither, i might even have planned it out,” he chuckled, still sniffling every once in a while

“plan? for what?” you scoff and even when your arm still remain on his shoulders, it didnt feel right to remove it from him - it’s still pretty cold y’know

“to take you out on a date? what else would i do? ask you to take a survey?” he raised a brow, and the apples of your cheeks turn bright pink and your glad the night was dark enough to hide them

“then i should have remembered to text you if it was going to be that way. but we’re here now, besides, what’s up?” you question, a topic you were a little hesitant on asking but something told you it was for the best

“its nothing-”

“if it was nothing we wouldn’t be here right now with your snot all over the place,” it was your turn to tease him now, making chan scoff in disbelief

“i guess i’m a little stressed out. personal matters and work. it’s all piling up and i guess i bottled it for too long,” he sighed, bringing his knees to his chest

“you dont have anyone to talk about this?” 

“i,,, do actually. but i’m sure they’ve got their own problems to fuss over. they’re always taking care of me too so i couldn’t make them hold the burden of my own problems,” he chuckled in embarrassment

“of course everyone has their own problems, silly. but we all still confide in someone right? then if you don’t confide in them, why not talk to me? i dont have all the time in the world but its 2018 we’ve got phones,” you giggled, quickly typing into your phone

as chan’s phone dinged with a new notification, you pat his back once more

“look, now you have my phone number too so you can always tell me whenever you have a problem. and maybe also remind me about your hoodie,” you smiled while chan chuckled at your first text message

‘for the cute boy with the red nose’

and the both of you had been close ever since

there were times that you would take the time out of your day to walk at the same park, to spill all the details about your day or to simply hang out

sometimes you would leave silly voice messages to cheer him up or simply things that reminded you of him

like the otter miniature you saw at a toy store or the time when you took a picture of a deer and drew a red nose on it

and chan would keep reminding you to give him back the hoodie

and you lowkey really want to keep it forever because its super comfy

“you told me to remind you to give it back but its been a whole year and its still at your dorm,”

“you cant blame me for liking a perfectly comfortable hoodie that smells a little like you,”

and chan actually also secretly likes it when you take a selfie with the hoodie on because you look extremely cute in it

like damn, he would give you all the hoodies in the world if you looked thaT cute with it on

and its just constant teasing and flirting between the two of you even though nothing really announces the both of you being officially together

and your scared to even mention it because you’re afraid you’re thinking things a bit too far

it’s been three years now ever since the both of you knocked into each other at the park

and ever since then, the both of you have been attached at the hip

you even got to know chan’s family as well as his group of friends which you still recognized one of them who towered them all

all of them loved you and secretly knew about the constant love eyes that appeared whenever chan mentioned you

jeonghan may or may not have threatened you about taking care of chan, but once he actually got to know you, he’s been fawning over you too ever since

which also meant that he might have told you things about chan whenever you werent around

like the way he kept showing your selfies to the others because he thought you looked like a cute kitten

or when he kept mentioning you whenever they went out together

and maybe also about the time chan had finally decided to tell the others about his problems too instead of relying on only you

because he knows how hard life can get for you especially with the numerous secrets you have only told him

and that was a wake up call you never new you needed

with that information, you planned to tell him the next time you and chan met at the park, where the both of you could be alone

and when chan finally suggested to take a walk through facetime, you enthusiastically agreed and slipped on his hoodie, although his scent was no longer there

when chan sees you with the familiar apparel, he laughs into the quiet night, his laughter making butterflies flutter in your stomach

“you’re finally giving this back to me? why? is it because he doesnt smell like me anymore?”

and youre caught off guard, eyes widening as your mouth failed to form sentences

“you’re making it seem like i have super powers when you cant even whisper without me hearing,” he chuckled ruffling your head

as the both of you walked side by side, catching up with each other and telling about each other’s day

you bathed in the feeling of comfort and serenity and you just knew being right by his side was a safe haven you never asked for but needed

“chan?” you call out to him, digging your hands deeper into the pockets as he hummed in reply

“i... i really want to thank you for being my friend, for being here for me and doing dumb stuff with me all the time. I couldn’t ask for someone better,” you giggled, looking back up to him

chan’s heart race at the sight, the way your eyes twinkled looking AT him

he was the reason for you to look this happy, and it felt like he was walking on cloud nine, like he became the president of south korea

“of course i would do dumb shit with you, you’re entitled to being my friend after you saw me have that mental breakdown,” he joked, wrapping an arm around your shoulder

“but i dont want to be just a friend,” you spoke up, stopping in your tracks as chan did so too, his heart running a mile per minute

“t-then what do you want to be?” he questioned, looking right back at you now, his arm letting go of you only to hold your hand again

“i want- will you be my boyfriend-” without another word, chan hugs you tight and places a soft kiss onto your forehead

Hi! I have a huge exam at the end of June and I find it very hard to stay focused when studying. I often have to read the same sentence four times, and when Im done I can't recollect everything I've just read. Is this a learned skill? Does it get better in time? Second question is, how do you memorise long term? Most of my knowledge disappears after ~3 days. Thank you for helping, I'm getting so frustrated. hiya!!! unfortunately focus is something that can disappear as fast as it arrived (so like.. 5 seconds flat) and i cant tell you the amount of times I’ve tried to be super productive and found that my brain just CANNOT get it together!!! like wake up!! and most of the time i find that you can’t force yourself to focus, but i guess i do a couple things to try my hardest SO:

1. the forest app - this is such a classic and like, everyone, knows about it but i’ve seen it help a lot of people in terms of distractions and whatever. sometimes, when my brain’s really not being my friend academically, the stupidest things distract me (like having my phone/ipad/whatever in close proximity just.. sitting there.. waiting for me to press its button..) SO this app is good for eliminating the influence of your phone/other device and you might find this helps your brain focus a bit more

2. momentum (chrome store) - this is also a cheesy answer but its a way to write your daily tasks down on your laptop and its there EVERY TIME you open a new tab. i always write my daily things down in my bujo but this app works as like.. a guilt trip: oh youre gonna quickly open that tab just to check twitter? BAM here’s a reminder of all the tasks you wrote earlier and oh look... you haven’t ticked any off yet!!!! bitch!! so yeah again this is more of a pull-me-back-to-reality kinda focus that might help ya 

3. lists in general - similar to momentum, if you dont use chrome/your laptop etc. i find making a list and keeping it somewhere you can always see it (at your desk, on a sticky note on the front of your book ...) always works for me cause i just LOOOVE crossing those little boxes like yea... i did that.. 

As for your 2nd question, long term memory is usually linked to emotions or semantics, so I find retaining things in my LTM is easier when i attach a meaning to it. for my degree i’m having to constantly remember like ridiculous names and dates and the ones i always remember are ones that make me laugh when a friend tries to pronounce it, or even make me feel SO SAD because “ill never remember this” and then guess what!!! i remember it!! cause it made me feel something!! so i guess the easiest way to do that might be to study things with friends or anyone that’ll listen to ya do a bit of rambling, and certain connotations make their way into the things youre learning and it’ll make it easier to remember later. obviously, repeating information in different formats is good too and goes without saying really (e.g. writing it, then saying it, then writing it in a paragraph etc.)

plus, if you find you forget stuff after around 3 days, make sure you go over stuff every 2!

AY2019/2020 year 1 semester 2 review

Wew this semester was more of a honeymoon period for me still since I cant advance past CS1010S - this is only the first CS mod i have to take big oof. First half of the sem was spent mostly on (re)doing CS1010S AFAST and the rest went to catching up on other modules that are of relatively lower intensities compared to modules i imagine i will have to take next semester? The most challenging mods this sem goes to CS1010S, EC1301 and also.. ST2334? About half of the semester was done at home though due to the COVID-19 pandemic and so the never-ending heap of online lectures to review (for which i am always behind on unfortunately). I have no need to S/U any module this sem fortunately but that also means I might have effectively wasted my last COVID S/Us. I’m also the kind that is happy enough just to pass.

Since i took the alternative finals i have updated the final weightage for this module (last sems CS1010S had different weightages).

As we already know, this module (or any CS modules in general) easily has the highest workload compared to other modules, except this time without needing to complete missions every week? Also since its a re-module, there were no lectures/tutorials/recitations for this module and the prof spent lesser time than the first module with us. There is just one consultation slot per week that lasts about 1.5-2h, where the TAs/ prof Ben goes through exam questions over the past years and where students get to voice any doubts they might have. Hence, a lot of self-discipline is required on our part to grind past year papers consistently and drill our brains. Not sure if i’ve mentioned this before, but it’s nice of them to provide comprehensive worked solutions for about 50 exam papers (or maybe more) the profs claimed it was the only module in NUS to be doing this. Prof mentioned he was a bit disappointed in our batch as many werent putting in considerable effort right from the start aka ponning consultation slots arranged over the holidays (in December) - which is a lot of effort coming from the professor to arrange this just for our batch (first batch of CS1010S AFAST). Just name me any prof who does this for their students, coming back over the holidays to teach unpaid. Those who were not at level 50 in Coursemology had more time now to finish the missions/side-quests needed to achieve level 50 and get the full points for Coursemology (as we were expected to in Sem 1). Things were a bit rusty after the holidays at the start but it became better with practice. Was a bit disappointed at not being able to get question 2 right during the written paper (finals) it was a bit of an IQ-ish problem solving question. Anyways winged the 4m what-did-you-learn essay question (as usual) at the end as a saving grace and passed albeit by a very bit. I improved by 2 marks ?? compared to the last semester for finals, not the nicest thing to see after so much effort being put in but still. I think I’m just better at writing essays than coding....

Results for the PE

Mean is 14. Median is also 14. Standard Deviation is 7.6. Highest grades was 30/30 Question 1 turned out to be harder than we had intended, but Q2 was quite easy and most of Q3 was doable by most, as you can see in the results. Passing mark for PE is roughly 10/30. 

Mean is 51/10, median is 53/100 and standard deviation is 14.4. Highest was 81/100. Generally, the performance was much worse than we had expected. Pass grade for Finals is roughly 40/100.

Basically, if got 10/30 for PE and 40/100 for Finals and you have done your Coursemology assignments you can expect a C grade. If not, then prepare to SU. CS1010S is not graded on a curve. We set question to test that you have mastered certain concepts and your final grade is a reflection of what you seem to have mastered as reflected by your exam performance.

This whole module was done by recess week so we have more time to focus on other mods. Honestly will be happy enough just to pass. Now, how do i survive CS23030 and CS2040 rip.

GEH1031 Understanding the Universe

Ng is relatively a slower-paced lecturer, which is good for someone like me who cant keep up with faster-paced profs. 2x on her elearning lecture videos makes the best pace imo. Her lecture slides are concise and simple, and will suffice in revision. While she does explain more in depth especially for concepts that are harder to grasp (not many) during the lecture i love that she keeps her lecture slides straight forward to the point. Everything was in point form, short and sweet much appreciated. Also if you pay attention to her lectures, you will do well for the quizzes at the end of each chapter for sure. Though i think you get the marks for quizzes as long as you did them before each deadline like participation marks kinda (?) rather than being graded on whether you answered them correctly. I didn’t do too well for term test 2 unfortunately and I also only just found out you can display the statistics of where you place among the cohort in LUMINUS and needless to say I didn’t place too well. It’s a relatively manageable module though there’s still a lot of content. Term test 1 consisted of MCQs and about 3 2m questions which she call “essay questions” which can be misleading for some (like me!). The MCQs are very tricky and most come in the format of these options: is A/ is not A/ is B/ is not B and you have to pick the right combination (2) out of these 4 options to score 1 point, which of course means less chances of getting them correct compared to the usual 25% in a typical MCQ. Term test 2 was held on LUMINUS at home, and this time since its an e-exam there was only 10mins to do about 25 MCQ, leaving only 0.4 minutes = 24s for 1 MCQ, which proved to be really stressful for many as voiced out by other cohort mates in the forum section (so very valid). The e-exam also had an essay component, 2m per question with 4 questions under 10 minutes. The implementation of this time constraint was to prevent cheating but the duration given was (I feel) unreasonable. As for the video presentation, we had to come up with a 7 min (at most) video most of which lasts 5/6mins on a news article in 2020 regarding astronomy. We had to form groups of 3 at the start of the semester, and were told to look for members on the forums if we did not have enough members. It is not necessary to show your face so you can be creative! For my group, we had a Germany graduate exchange student to work with us which was really cool.  Our group’s theme was NASA’s discovery of exoplanets with the use of TESS which was wrapped up in March, before the deadline in April. Really thankful for him to prompt us each week for progress and have it done and over with instead of rushing it last minute when things get busy during reading week. (I think the guy was really done with us im so sorry Philipp if you are reading this.) Also since term test 2 was done by mid-April we had more time allocated for other modules to prepare for finals (swee). Video critiques were supposedly 50 words long if i remembered correctly but i didnt find out until i hit the submit button and :_D i left 1/2-liners for each. One of the criteria of this video critique was showing that you have watched the videos of other groups well but i dont rmb my critiques proving that ive watched the videos carefully though i really did. I think our group did the best in our cluster though! (based on the critiques). For the astrophotograph, we could take part in the astronomy sessions held on a Friday of every month to use the telescopes but there wasn’t any this semester sadly due to the pandemic.

GES1041 Everyday Ethics in Singapore

Chin’s lectures are pretty enjoyable, his voice/tone really suits lectures. He is a very approachable person too and willing to share a lot of experiences relevant to the topic at hand. He includes snippets of related videos in his slides many of which are insightful that made me share with my friends too. There is a total of 4 main themes in the module which are namely inequality, meritocracy, multiculturalism and migration and he also introduced the use of an ethical toolbox to helps us reach a more definitive thought process especially for an abstract topic like philosophy. I didn’t realise this was a philo mod when bidding for it so I was really surprised when i went for the first lecture (like bro it clearly says ETHICS what was i thinking). I also thought it would be something similar to Social Studies but was proven wrong. There are compulsory readings to do each week, about 20 pages long usually per reading and they are all chapters from books written by other Singaporean philosophers regarding the themes gone through which helped to widen my perspectives and broadened my horizons, those were some really good selection of readings. I have learned more things than I previously knew about the foreign domestic workers, migrant workers, racism in Singapore among the many topics we have dealt with.

This module is for those who are : 

Comfortable with reading a lot every week (i put a lot here because i dont usually read)

Comfortable with writing essays (journal entry) 500 words each

Proficient in English (some of the expressions used can be quite complex and may take you a much longer time to process and understand especially with the reading quizzes that tests your comprehension of the readings - really just comprehension in true GP fashion)

Have a lot of experience in this field, those under social work would have many and will be able to share relevant experiences in the journal entry

Interested about the aforementioned themes

Reading quizzes are like comprehension style questions: do your readings and the questions tests you on what you have read so you just have to look for evidence of each option, the questions will refer you to the specific page/reading that will guide you (nice of them to do so). Journal entries and reading quizzes occur on an alternative week basis so reading quizzes followed by journal then reading quiz again and so forth. Nearing the end, you will be grouped according to who you sit close with and you will work together with your group members to work on a project that will have 2 overlapping themes about any policies/ observations of Singapore. It is advisable for the scope to not be too broad. e.g. we chose to talk about offering Muslim food in school canteens vs non-Muslim food (fewer food options for Muslims) and this encompasses both the multiculturalism and inequality themes. The group report will be due before the presentation and it helps identify some main points you will then talk about later during the presentation. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the group presentation this semester was done on Microsoft Powerpoint through voice-over slides. God bless, and there goes the need to memorise scripts especially with the finals season so near. The professor was really accommodating and gave us more time to prepare the voice-over slides when he announced that it will be held on powerpoint too. Finals was 20 MCQs in 1 hour on LUMINUS, the questions were similar to the reading quizzes (5 MCQs per quiz).

Can’t find the actual breakdown of scores sorry!

Bell-curve is really really steep for this one since its purely MCQ. Divided into micro and macroeconomics so first half of the sem was micro then the other half was macro. Finals was about 70% macro and 30% micro since micro was already tested for midterms. Every week, there’s a pre-lecture quiz to be done before the lecture and a post-lecture quiz due before the next lecture to reinforce your learning. There’s also supplementary readings that were given but i gave up on it by the third week. The way it is taught is a bit different from what I was used to in JC the things they focus on is also a bit different. There’s more calculations than JC whereas JC economics was more conceptual? I took only H1 economics so a lot of concepts were fresh for me like monopolism, comparative/absolute advantages, income elasticity etc. Both midterms and finals was held on Examplify with a lockdown on everything including wifi. The lecturer also provides additional practice questions in the form of quizzes nearing the exams instead of exam papers. To be honest, I felt this module was hard?? Not sure if anyone else felt the same way, it was a struggle.. I thought it was a fluff mod and boy was i very wrong about this. Also important thing to note is though this mod has MCQ-only exam, the MCQs are not 4 options but 6 options long with many tricky options and of course time constraint. Finals was 70/80 questions long in 1h iirc. Midterms was 40 questions. After the 3rd (?) tutorial, there was no more physical tutorials held just zoom tutorial sessions which only 3 ppl in my slot regularly attended. Towards the finals, a lot more zoom sessions were opened up and we could attend other TA’s zoom sessions this was a godsend thank you. My tutor wasn’t really clear in her explanations or maybe it is just me her accent came off a bit strong. I emailed her some questions but even now I have not receive any answers from her, she told me next week, and the next week became next next week and so on. I guess she must have had a lot on her plate. I didn’t think she was a good tutor. I flunked my midterms (5% percentile) so I was a bit dejected.

ST2334 Probability and Statistics

Prof was really funny and friendly. Although his tutorials left me confused (my friends would care to disagree), his lectures were still pretty good. He always emphasised knowing what we are doing rather than doing the math blindly. The tutor was fast in his replies whenever I asked him questions by email. This module is an extension of statistics in JC, probability and many more probability distribution (F, chi-square, t test, z test) with terms we have never encountered before too (unless you took BT1101 but this mod focuses more on deriving the values than having a program-R calculate it for you). Ever since the outbreak, the lectures were converted to e-lecture slide style but each lesson would take 4 lectures (4h), instead of the 2 lecture per week so we had to spend more time watching the videos than usual. It is easy to be behind on videos when there is only e-lecture videos so much discipline is required to stay on task.

Finals was proctored with zoom and held on Luminus in the form of a quiz. We were expected to scan and submit a pdf with our workings after the exam. I did not have time to finish about 8 questions (a lot of marks gone) there were a total of 30 questions, spent too much time in front on the easier questions. I did study for the later questions but had no chance to utilize what I have revised (sad). I am really dead for this module i hope i dont fail this.

Update. God bless, thought i was really doomed for because i lost so many marks from not being able to finish 8/30 questions that have the most marks rewarded. Guess i really took time to make less mistakes on the previous questions.

MKT1705X Principles of Marketing

Individual assignment questions (total of 5) for tutorials 1-3 are given at the start for which the tutor will go through in the allocated weeks. We get to choose the question we want to do and if that week, the question will be discussed that week will be the deadline for our IAs. The other questions in the IA do not have to be submitted but will be discussed in class. There’s class participation for this module so people were more eager than I was used to, to answer questions in class. I had no opportunity to though in this module (halfway into the semester it became elearning), the tutor had too many hands to pick. The tutor was very accommodating and knew our difficulties and was willing to work out compromise. However, her classes were centered mainly on her experiences (which can be a bit boring) it could have been better if she went through the content. Understand that it is a fluff module that requires many examples, but would be good to relate them back to the content we are expected to master. Tutorials are held every alternate week and we are expected to do the individual questions even if we do not need to submit so that we have something at least to share in class. Subject pool was giveaway marks basically do 6 research surveys and u will get the full marks for that. Final exam comprises of 3 essay questions (40m, 30m, 30m) that you have to submit in 1.5h (i thought it was 2h during the paper rip mad rush for the end), no references/research needed but there’s a plagiarism checker by TurnItIn on luminus basically testing the application of concepts to examples.

I got a B+ for group assignment, and A- for individual assignment. I think i can only do essay styled questions, is this a sign to do arts.....

Oh the presentation was changed to a one-shot video recording (no stitching of individual videos together) instead of an actual presentation in front of your tutorial mates. I think a lot of other groups also read off their scripts but ours was really obvious. The tutor grades (structures her own bell-curve) based on those who attempted the same question to be more fair rather than comparing among all the different questions so in a way, the difficulty of the questions won’t affect your grade.

Epilogue. this is probably the last and only time i could do this well.... even if it does not fit the conventional definition of doing well......

Ok sure but this’ll be long so a readmore it is:-

Kirk: Tell me about a time you had to take a leadership role.

A few times. I ended up organising quite a lot of stuff with the costume team with my last couple of shows. I quite often end up taking on leadership roles at events and things because nobody... seems... to want to? And so stuff doesnt get done and we talk around things until I or someone else goes “Ok here is what we are doing.”

I think I did it most on the first show I worked on, and I hated it. I basically kept chasing people up on what they were doing and what they should be doing and kept snapping at one girl to leave jobs that werent hers well enough alone. (She kept fucking up the organisation of the costume rail). 

Spock: What kind of sacrifices have you made for others?

I left university for a year to look after my mother... despite the fact she would do a lot of shitty things. I’ve... sacrificed a lot for other people really but I dont know...

I’ve lived to regret a lot of them.

Uhura: Talk about the moment you were the most proud of yourself.

Honestly getting my 98% on my graded unit final this year.

This represents so much. 3 years ago I was depressed, directionless, I’d been unable to work because I was so emotionally low and trying to deal with my alcoholic mother. And then 2 years ago people told me to get out. People told me to study to do something, to escape.And... I did?

I haven’t done well in exams since high school when my cousin died and everything went to shit. But this year I got 98% on a unit in the highest level qualification I’ve done to date. I’m still depressed, I still struggle but my god look at me now. Im taking care of me.

Bones: Describe your closest relationships.

Complicated haha.

Jem - my partner is great. They understand me perfectly, excellent dinosaur nerd. We might not always agree, but we also agree that might be a good thing. We can talk about our problems and thats more than I could ask for.My family - do not get on with me a lot. Its still a relationship and an important one even if its not a good one. They shaped who I am and I just hope im not too much like their negatives. If anything I want to take my mothers (occasional) open-mindedness, My fathers self reflection and my brothers desire to learn and understand all people and things. 

My friends - I have a few, and the ones Im closest to should know who they are. Im very grateful to them for being there. For understanding. I don’t know where I’d be without friends like that, old and new.

Sulu: What is your relationship like to the world around you?

The world is a struggle but I’ll get there.

Chekov: How do you support your friends?

I try to be there, ask what they need and give it to them if I can. Im not always good at that. I like to find solutions and a lot of people dont want them... I’m working on that.

Scotty: Talk about a time you succeeded (or failed) in fixing a major problem.

I’m really not sure. On the last show run I did for class the dryer wouldn’t dry the clothes in time for the next show. But we uh... didnt fix that problem. We tried, I got us a bunch of hairdryers and we had a go at doing them that way. Tried pressing them dry and all sorts but uh... nope, actors went on stage damp. They were nice enough about it but I still felt bad ^^

Chapel: What have you gained, or what consequences have you faced, from pursuing your passions?

My passions so far have been “Get out of that house your parents live in” and so far I’ve succeeded. The cost? Im constantly looking for places to spend the holidays - friends who might be willing to take me because Im terrified of spending stuff like christmas alone...

Rand: How do you stay positive in bad situations?

Hahahahahahahahaah I dont.

seriously tho the worse the situation the better I am at dealing with it. I sorta... shut off emotionally and get through whatever needs getting through. I got hit by a car and I handled that. I lived in an abusive household and just emotionally switched off. Its immediately after the bad situation that I struggle. 

Enterprise: Tell me when/where you felt most at-home, like you belonged.

When I get there I’ll tell you. I cried last christmas because my friends made me feel so welcome... they just accepted me into their home, let me sit with them while the kids unwrapped presents. It... was so nice...

Khan: Tell me about a person you would do anything to protect.

I’m glad to say I’ve not been in a situation where I’d need to. I trust the people I care about, I’ve seen them protect themselves. I dont want to imagine a situation where the cant and I somehow can. The people i love are far stronger than I could ever hope to be.

Corbomite: What's the worst lie you've ever told?

“Seriously it doesnt hurt too bad I just tripped down some stairs.” ugh gives me shivers.

Deneva: Have you ever lost a loved one? How did you grieve?

My cousin died when I was 14. He was more like a brother to me really. I remember when I was told that he was dying and I literally couldn’t breathe. I vaguely remember someone holding onto my shoulders while I gasped in air. I then didnt cry until his funeral where I sobbed like a baby.Everything is a blur after that. Time got muddled in my head. I dunno if I ever stopped grieving completely. Still hurts like hell.

Empath: Talk about the time you needed someone the most. Did they come through for you?

Honestly people are there for me a lot, and they always try even if they dont succeed. But I needed someone through my transition and it just... didnt happen. I didnt need anyone specific but I needed or wanted SOMEONE. 

I’ve done this alone, I’ll continue doing it alone and that hurts. But I know it hurts people like Jem too. I know they want to be there almost as much as I want them to be. Sometimes its not a matter of how much we want things though.

Psi 2000: What are you really like, under everything?

Insecure, self reflective though not really sure if my analysis is correct. I think a lot of what you see is what you get tbh?

Horta: What do you do when you feel lonely and isolated?

I message everyone I know on facebook, skype and tumblr then hope someone will answer. Theres about 3 people maybe 4 who I know I can be blunt with. who I can just say “Im lonely please pay attention to me” It helps a lot. When that fails though I just try to sleep.

Talos IV: What would you do if someone you loved betrayed you?

Been there done that, numb to it now. It hurts but I’ve learned you can move on, learned you can meet someone knew who you can love and be loved by for a while (not saying romantically here). Losing people is a lot less frightening.

Organia: How do you react when you're proven wrong?

Depends on how? Attitude says a lot. If I’m politely corrected I might be interested and want to know more. If its super critical and about why Im a failure in every capacity I’ll be equally antagonistic. 

Farragut: Has something ever happened to you that you just can't let go?

Physical abuse, my cousin dying. Im not good at letting go of trauma. I wont ever forget that my little cousin harry looks up to me the same way I used to look up to David though. I strive to be what David was to me, for Harry, as much as I can.

uhh, so where to start

You'd probably find what's bothering me ridiculous, call me weird. I don't care. I just roll that way, maybe I'm depressed. Who knows?

I'm at a point where I don't even know what's bothering me anymore, you know, when a lot of things just pile up and you can't figure out what you're upset about

I broke up with my boyfriend a while ago, I mean he broke up with me, on my birthday. Funny, isn't he?

We were supposed to go to Japan, you know, spend a few days there including my birthday. It was his idea, he paid and everything and I found it so sweet.

the flight was at 2am, two hours through my birthday. We reached the airport an hour before and If I said I wasn't excited I would be lying.

it was time to transfer to the boarding room when he broke the news to me.

he said we had to break up. I still remember every little thing he said that day. the truth was that he had a scholarship to major in dancing in Japan, and while we were both studying veterinary together he was also studying dancing in parallel without me knowing. He said he didn't believe in long distance relationships and that it was better if we stopped dating. 

He didn't pay for my ticket or anything. He was going by himself and left me standing in the middle of the airport while he accessed the boarding room.

that night I got drunk. for the first time. I had a friend who worked at a coffee shop that turned into a bar by nighttime.

he tried comforting me and telling me to stop drinking. I couldn't.  I just couldn't. I wanted to forget about what had just happened.

of course, and you probably figured out that, I didn't. 

My family knew about what happened soon after. My parents scolded me a lot. Since I spent forever to convince them it was okay to date him and that we weren't going to end soon. I even thought we could get married. I tried to convince them that he was the one and that he wasn't going to distract me from my studies, which seemed like the only fucking thing occupying their mind. I almost thought they don't see me as a human anymore, but as exam marks.

They were really mad and I eventually got into a fight with them. They kept claiming they knew from the beginning that he wasn't good news and he was going to dump be anyways. Goodness how would they even fucking know.

I was practically alone. I had a close friend who was in Paris by the time, and I really didn't Want to bother her with my bullshit, the girl was living her dream of becoming a designer after all. 

I was lost. My marks started dropping and I didn't contact my parents or they'd be furious with me. I had no desire to eat and skipped meals often, eventually getting sick a lot. I am sick right now actually, I keep on sneezing 

and to top it the owner of the apartment I'm living in informed me by the beginning of the following month that he'd increase the renting fee. And of course I had nothing to say about it. I spent forever to find this studio so I had no choice but to accept.

I of course had no money, and also no plans of asking my family for money. I didn't have any one to borrow money from even if I wanted. How pathetic. life is funny 

I got a part time job. I started working at the coffee shop I had a friend in, Serving early in the morning and late in the evening before the place turned into a bar. Also known as the only free time I had from college. 

I didn't want to work the nighttime because I honestly didn't want to end up between someone's legs.

I automatically got close to that friend, since he was the only one I knew there. we had been meeting for over three years and I felt comfortable around him

Until I fell for him. I didn't know how it happened but I did. 

long story short, I confessed one day and he rejected me. Oh sure he would. He said he saw me as a younger sibling that he cared for. And here I had the tiniest hope he was doing so because he mirrored my feelings. I told you life is funny. Too funny that I just noticed that I'm crying now.

I told him to forget about it and that we should just stay friends like we were. I really didn't want to lose someone else.

one day I got dismissed of college early and had a meeting with a high school friend. Of course we met at that same coffee shop. 

She saw my friend and she immediately fell for him. I actually didn't blame her, he was too fine that girls would try to flirt with him everyday. 

Long story short she asked me to hook her up with him, since she knew I worked there and was close to him.

she started coming more often to the café and as much as it made me deranged I tried making the two close, and it worked. They started dating and I never felt lonlier.

I spent most of my time working, studying, working again, studying at home and chatting with a close online friend from Japan.

she had been my friend since forever and we never got the chance to meet. 

Then one day she told me she'd be coming to Korea for a few days, also informing me that her boyfriend was coming along which I didn't bother about at all. 

In fact, I did. I still remember that day clearly. The day I was waiting for her to come in this restaurant and she came in, hand in hand with her boyfriend, who was none other than my ex.

both of us were surprised to see each other again, I had a terrified face on while he just looked at me as if he was saying oh hey you actually managed to still be alive. My friend was so confused when I suddenly ran away. I was crying. And no where in hell was I going to let him see me cry because of him.

just when I thought he was long gone and I could forget about him he came again 

and that's how I started all the way from zero. Trying to erase him from my memory. I couldn't forget the look on his face that day. He was almost smirking impressedly. He knew I was too attached to him and that I turned into a mess after he left.

My friend understood the situation later and apologized to me. I told her there was nothing to apologize about and there really wasn't. Its not like she knew he was my ex and dated him on purpose.

So for now, I'm still working and studying. The others are still dating so I dont see any of them often. 

Exams are coming and I don't really think I'm ready, which is not of me at all 

I'm kind of a perfectionist you see, I like to have everything prepared and set for anything. good grades, good looks, good manners. I wanted them all. Call me selfish 

I never had good looks to begin with. I never went out without make up. I guess it just worked out like this. I'm insecure about how I look and I would never lie about it.

I keep strict track of my weight and starve myself if I gain any. 

Even though people tell me I'm fine. What are 52kilos for a 169cm tall girl? I was already underweight. But I didn't care. I would never be satisfied with how I look anyways 

I'm now just sitting here in my bed while hugging Baby Lion, my favorite lion plush. 

He's better than them all I think. If Baby Lion was a person I would've dated him. He seems like he'd never leave me.

i need to vent my minds a mess idk, i havvent stopped in months and it has been very draining so i guess idk i didnt wannaa sounds cocky saying all the things i did but for the sake of me wanting tto le it out i will and all of this to lead uo tot he present that was me being eith my dad today and how it was, how i feel about it i guess. So it all starts back in may, 3 months ago, where i was trying to survive with my grades i had to make sure everything was gonna go smoothly in my desenho exam and then i also was starting to feel pressure cause june was coming uo and tbh june is just streeeessssfull, theres first mels birthday on 1st June and one week before we took her to the tosquia too, then theres Beas burthday but also my sobrinho santiago was born, on the 5th an then beas birthday is on the 6th, then theres the aniversary off bea and i's first date in the 16th wheere we had previously planned wed recreate to celebrate and then theres bea and i's actual birthday on the 22nd and we went to pride but i was all very hard cause idk i guess we wanted our first birthday to be good (or at least i really dis which gave it some pressure), but it happened;; we celebrated at pride cause we were lucky enouh this year it was on he 22nd, the 2 days later its my moms birthday and i usually dont do anything but this time i decided i was gnna do something and i did, i recreated her gradma's torta, clean the whole house spotless and then i recreated a card i had made for her back in '06;;; on top of all of these ne is exam seasson and i had to hardcore study for gd everyday trying to reach a unreachable goal of 67 exercises, with so much gd i ended up forgetting a litte about portugues and had to study last minute, luckly i knew what i was doing cause m aware i know pessoa pretty well so my plan was just to study the rest but i dont think i gave it enough time sinse i had an 8, the to desenho i didnt study cause cockly, i dont need to, i had a 13,4 which i wasnt happy with but thats life i guess, it wasnt woth the money tryng to ask for a revisao, well, and at gd i had a 5, when i needed a 10 cause i was aluna externa this resulted that after this hell of a month i had to suffer another one cause i neeeded to learn everything i didnt lean in 1 and a half years id gd, in les than a month so i had to stuy like a crazzy person, this time i didnt have to do 67 exercices it was a lot less but still i couldnt do it and i did as much as i could and more i broke down 10000 billion time ad i thought i couldnt do it i didnt fee prepared and tbh i was terrafied cause if i faied this exam i didnt have my 12th grade done and it as a pain in the ass to think about but still after madess of stdying gd all day and until 5 am i did it only with a 11;;; but i didd  it then that hell of a month ended and we get to this present moth but before that had sams birthday coming up and i wanted to surprise him with a cake cause bea and i had offered him cookie cake not knowing he was vegan now and it was dissapointing when we were like ,,, so you cant have it? cause we didnt know we wasnt jus veegetarian anymore blah blah blah, i had to do preaparations for his birthday and it was stressful, i wanted it to be good, the the day after we celebrate sams birthday im still not able to sit and relax a little cause its 2nd august and bea and i are going to veiros, dont get me wrong i was the one deciding to go but god i was tiring, i had more fun than last time i was there but theere wasa lot more stress too cause renataa was trying to cionvince us to go to university the whole time and it was a pain tbh cause i didnt know what to do but i ha a slight ide that i did wanna go bt then the problem was that because of that they ere all using me as an eexample to convince bea and i felt pressure to be like yeah im absolutely for sure going;;; at the end of the say i didd decide i wanted to go but then i was more stressed cause the dates were ending an i didnt havee my passe for dges cause there was a problem with it and my fcha enes was stuck to cause apparently you had to do thing in the secretaria to pik it up so i emailed the help line of dges for the password and asked my mom to go to school to ick up my ficha and ii did manage to have the pass in time but then the lady lied about the time the secretaria was open apparently cause when lena and my mom went there it was closed and i gess that meant that steess was over but id didnt manage to do the cadidatura in the 1st fase,;;;; which later on i found out i couldnt even do in the first place cause people with exams in the 2nd fase cant do the candidatura in the 1st fase soyahhhh unnecesary stess and now i need to wait until 9th september to do my candidatura and pray im accepted indesenho or pintura cause i do not want escultura as a everyday thing or at least i dont think i do ~ so;;;
