#i need to reread the series

the end of asoue is written with such remarkable nuance that it really gets me everytime. its not a big band like tpp, but rather a slow, bittersweet climax that daunts on the more complex themes of the previous books and just kind of waltzes to a close. i cant help but think about the scene where the baudeliaires are watching count olaf die after saving kit. this man, who they watched for over a year torment them, who killed everyone they love that was supposed to take care of them, who is the sole reason maybe not behind the fire, but behind the series of unforunate events that followed, was dying. it was final. it was an end of a chapter. i cant help but think they felt a little sad watching this - someone who they knew couldve been good and noble and chosen to put out fires, always chose the wrong thing. and it was like the end of an era - of the life they knew of misery and misfortune at every turn. and they saw him be gentle to kit. and they saw him die. i just cant imagine how they felt, that count olaf, someone so untouchable, arrogant, and ever present in their lives, could in fact, die.

People talk about how “overpowered” and freaky some of the physical feats in PJO and HOO are but I think people forget that all demigods inherently have enhanced, speed, agility, and strength. So at lot of these physical feats actually make a lot of sense in their “power scaling.”

And I know a lot of people like talk about the Lois Arc jump because that is insane but there are a lot of other feats that show off the enhanced attributes some of the other demigods have.

Like, Hazel ran after a Arion, the fastest horse alive for a WHOLE day. Hours upon hours on end. And even if Arion WASN’T the fastest horse he’s still. A horse. That Hazel was able to keep up with. And then run all the way home.

Reyna EASILY knocks away giant werewolves with a knife and used her javelin like a pole vault. Annabeth managed to fight Kronos, a whole ass Titan, to a standstill. And she’s been shown to perform moves only professional acrobatic and gymnast can do. Piper threw a fifty pound shield at Medea and was described to move fast as a viper.

Jason had dodged arrows that have appeared out of no where, no warning, and Percy has side stepped bullets. BULLETS.

Not to mention that with the Lycaon and werewolves they were all out running and keeping up with WOLVES.

So, yeah, demigods have freaky physical feats.

Fresh off my first watching of Sophomore Year, I was desperate for more Nightmare Forest-esque content for my beloved bad kids. Thankfully, I immediately stumbled upon @gilears fic Over and Through! I absolutely adored this fic, bingereading it in one go, and knew I needed to show my love and feelings somehow!!

So here are the six bad kids' personal hells, shown in my order of reading!

tapping away at the tim fic and thinking about how in a post-crisis canon where the core four were allowed to age they’d probably walk into an intense crisis of identity (again) because kon and bart and bruce (and donna) are back but the world is still changing. they’re close to twenty now. things aren’t the way they used to be. like rereading adventure comics 09 kon had an extremely empathetic reaction to finding out about how bad tim was spiralling but i wonder if that would eventually hit some kind of breaking point when tim kinda…. can’t go back to how he was?

also for bart and cassie — the changes they made after joining the titans and how it felt insincere compared to how they were originally depicted (bart as kf and cassie as more femme presenting, etc) and how that would impact their understanding of identity. no can react right to anything anymore. they can’t go back to who they were. the only way out is through

And how Blue saw it immediately and it was something she liked about him, a girl too good at seeing the vulnerabilities of other people, but Adam didnt want someone to see his insecurities, didn't want someone to acknowledge that life

But Gansey did. Gansey needed someone to see him at his worst and love him for it, and blue did that
