what are your fav kdramas?
Yay! An ask on my main tumblr!! I have SO many favorite k-dramas that I love for different reasons but these are the ones that come to mind that I think about a lot.
Most of My favorite K-dramas:
Extraordinary You/ A Day Found By Chance (fantasy/romance): This magical k-drama has my heart. It plays with all of the predictable tropes and then just goes crazy! While not perfect towards the end, I give this show bonus points for being super creative AND inspiring me to read a LOT of fan fic. I think about this drama more than any other.
Fight for My Way (romcom) I love this drama! The couple is one of my OTPs and it’s really funny and a mostly lighthearted story of a group of friends. It’s down to earth and adorable - I’ve never had anyone complain about this one!
Melo Is My Nature (slice of life): This drama is by far my favorite slice-of-life drama of 2019. Found family, strong and complex characters, I laughed, I cried. Plus a gay character that’s an actual character, with the gay as a casual side note (classy k-drama!!) It was just a perfect show for me. There’s romance, but all of the stories are super interesting.
I think about this drama more than any other and Eun Dan Oh is so special!!
Tumblr media
Shopping King Louie (romcom): Ridiculously fun and lighthearted romp following a spoiled and useless chaebol with amnesia who is being taken care of by a country bumpkin in the city. Very low stakes, super adorable couple, and as many tropes as you can fit in your bag, this one is one of my favorites to recommend.
Just Between Lovers (romance/melo): Slice of Life romance between poor trauma babies just trying to live! The OTP is one of my favorite couples EVER and even as the years go on, very few couples have matched their love in my opinion. There’s a lot of comfort/healing themes with for me is just *chef’s kiss.* Lee Junho became my bias wrecker because of that drama.
The Eighth Sense (bl queer romance): This is the only 2023 drama to make this list! It's super atmospheric and has so much more character development than any korean bl I've ever seen. I loved it so much!
Run On: (rom com) This show follows four people in their daily lives: An athletic, a translator, a CEO and an artist. Soft soft couples!! Y'all know I love this slice of life rom com for so many reasons, but you might not know that Kang Tae Oh’s character (the himbo painter) is like one of my dream boys. BLORBO FROM MY SHOWS. Also there is so much bi nuance and an ace character, just saying!
Tumblr media
The Best Hit / Hit The Top (romcom): A famous 90′s boyband dude travels into the future and meets up with his family and friends in this really cute drama featuring Yoon Shi Yoon. I LOVE Yoon Shi Yoon in pretty much everything but this role was made for him - he is hilarious. It’s a slice of life but features the k-pop music industry so the setting is unique.
Into The Ring (workplace/romcom): The perfect slice-of-life rom com! Goo Se Ra has trouble holding down a job due to her passionate personality so after she loses her latest job working for the ML, she decides to run for a small government office position because it pays a salary. Literally she does it for the money which is just *chef’s kiss.* The show is about her dealing with local politics and it’s SO FUNNY and smart and the OTP is the best!
Flower of Evil: A psychological thriller centered around a jewelry maker who is running from his past, and his cop wife (power couple alert!)  who doesn’t know his original identity. The chemistry of the couple is amazing and all of the characters are nuanced and interesting. I was on the edge of my seat, AND sobbing! I’m going to be rewatching this in 2021 for sure.
The Smile Has Left Your Eyes (psychological thriller): This drama has a lot of psychological thriller-y aspects but the style of filming is really interesting and the leads could not be more angsty (especially the guy). It takes them a while to get together and while not entirely pleasant, this show is one of my faves.
Healer: Everyone knows healer will always have my heart and it’s a super popular k-drama. Healer is played by Ji Chang Wook (swoon) and he gets involved with a feisty reporter played by Park Min Young (also swoon). It’s an action adventure with some very classic tropes: Rich people scandals, murders and hidden pasts. But it also has some of my favorite tropes: Beta Male Lead, childhood friends to lovers and traumatic pasts.
Cheating because it's a jdrama: Cherry Magic! (30-sai made Dotei Da to Mahotsukai ni Nareru rashii): I know this is a Jdrama but it’s the only drama that got a perfect score from me in 2020! If you’ve never felt like trying a jdrama, Cherry Magic is the one! Every episode was so endearing and sweet, and it even has ace representation, and does it well! I basically smiled the whole time and loved every second. Soft Romance and the best couple!

Oh anon i'm so sorry you're going through it :( Thank you so much for the blog love and hopefully one of these will fit your mood!
K-dramas to brighten your day:
Shopping King Louie (romcom): Ridiculously fun and lighthearted romp following a spoiled and useless chaebol with amnesia who is being taken care of by a country bumpkin in the city. Very low stakes, super adorable couple, and as many tropes as you can fit in your bag, this one is one of my favorites to recommend.
Soundtrack #1: (romance) A short drama about two friends. One of them is helping the other write a love song (while also being in love with her). It’s cute!
Hit The Spot: rom/com-ish: Just a heads up this is legit rated-r and has graphic sex scenes. I don't usually go for that (and actually the scenes are pretty funny to me personally - the first episode starts that way but I swear you can just skip those scenes) but the actual drama was soooo good (and maybe sponsored by a sex toy company?) Hani delivers (i love her so much) and the sex positive messaging and just two ladies getting what they need?? So funny and so fun!! But take care if this isn't for you.
Run On: (rom com) This show follows four people in their daily lives: An athletic, a translator, a CEO and an artist. Soft soft couples!! Y'all know I love this slice of life rom com for so many reasons, but you might not know that Kang Tae Oh’s character (the painter) is like one of my dream boys. BLORBO FROM MY SHOWS.
Tumblr media
Have a Nice Dessert (another cute web drama): If you’re looking for low angst and a super soft boy, this is your drama!! It’s a web drama (youtube) about a girl who loves photographing desserts and the boy who likes her.  Like all web dramas, it’s short, and there’s really no time for angst and breakups :)
Eulachacha Waikiki / Laughter In Waikiki: (ridiculous comedy) I hope you’re ready for a crazy amount of unlikely situations and nutty hijinks because this show is probably one the most silly ones I’ve ever watched. It follows a group of friends who own a hostel so it’s a slice of life drama. At certain points I was like “this is TOO silly” but I’m glad I stuck with it cause it was so hilarious. Plus, the baby is a star!
Light On Me (web drama bl): I absolutely adored this simple and sweet drama! One of my favorite korean BLs EVER! Because it’s longer than the average Korean BL, it actually has: *cues triumphant music* Character development!
Fight for My Way (romcom) I love this drama! The couple is one of my OTPs and it’s really funny and a mostly lighthearted story of a group of friends. It’s down to earth and adorable - I’ve never had anyone complain about this one!
Wok of Love: (romcom) Despite the fact that the show was shortened by two episodes because of sports, this drama is a funny and quirky show worth watching. Many people dropped it because it was SO crazy for the first couple of episodes (it has a talking horse people!), but it does settle into a really sweet and fun story about a chef, a gangster and a rich girl and her family. If you love food, this show is for YOU!
Tumblr media
Splash Splash Love: (short drama) Featuring a girl struggling with her studies and magically ends up in an ancient land working for a king! It’s awesome!
Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo: Super cute and fluffy drama featuring a female weightlifter lacking confidence, and a popular and good looking swimmer. Romance & great friendships!
Top Management: Adorable mini drama about a girl who can see the future and becomes the rookie manager for a kpop band. Fun and easy (plus they seem to be setting it up for another season…)
***J-drama rec*** Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?!: (romance, fluff, represenation!)  If you’re used to k-dramas were everything could go wrong at any time, you’re in for a real treat! Cherry Magic is my absolute favorite drama of last year and this year combined (even with a silly name like it has!) - It’s the ONLY show I’ve ever given a 10/10 rating to. An introverted guy finds out a seemingly popular and confident co-worker has a crush on him. This drama is so so soft, so so sweet and it has not one but TWO ace characters and a lot of gay panic! I’ve rewatched it recently and smiled the ENTIRE time. Plus there’s a valentines day special that’s really fun.
Bonus short shows for instant relief:
Gaduri Sushi Restaurant
Semantic Error
Out of Breath (gl!)
The Best Mistake
Kiss Goblin
XX
Enjoy and I hope you feel better soon!!

how od you sned thing s on tumblr dot crom
here you go i dont know what im doign i feel so old
Inukei no Kareshi by Kadiro More of a romance comedy about a wolfman and a human. No sex scenes (yet?) but it’s very wholesome and cute. I really like the main character (big surprise) and I always look to see if there’s been an update. It’s generally very wholesome and is more of a slice-of-life but with most of the boring stuff replaced with gayness. The art is also very nice and charming and again I really like the main character.
[18+] Ai da nante Iwanai kara (We Won’t Call It Love) by HIGURE Kure Mutual-burn childhood romance manga where the guys graduated from school and ended up moving far away to be reunited by both a wedding and a funeral. These men suck at communicating and damn that sure is going to be a loveless marriage but hey, it’s pretty cute otherwise. The sex scenes are bad and boring, but the story is pretty good.
Sweet Rendezvous by HIGURE Kure Blind app dating excepts its people looking for folks to eat food with for whatever reason. Strange concept, but it’s very cute and the romance is subtle but sweet.
[18+] Matataki no Ao o Tadotte (Follow the Twinkling Blue of the Stars) by COICO Ico The premise of this one is a weird one. It’s a childhood-friend-just-out-of-a-coma-to-lovers type manga… Yeah. Has some weird dynamics like student x teacher but this time it’s actually legal? And the circumstances are questionable and bizarre but it’s a cute read otherwise. I actually don’t remember if there’s any sex scenes so I’ll mark this as 18+ just in case.
[18+] Torano Tantei Jimusho e Youkoso (Welcome to the Torano Detective Agency) by KUROI Yodaka Peak. In a world where humans and beastmen co-exist in society, it’s a romance between a down-on-his-luck semi-ex delinquent/punk guy and the titled detective of a detective agency. Punk boy needs a job and hits the goldmine of a lifetime (live-in assistant who has all expenses including food paid for as long as they do housework alongside acting as a detective’s assistant) and the two end up having probably the best confession scene I’ve ever seen in manga or anime. Ever. It’s so good. There is one (1) sex scene and it’s really short. This is a really good manga. It even has elements of found family. It’s so good.
[18+] Koibito Keiyaku-chuni Suki by MATSUDA Io An alright manga. Kind of cute in execution with way too many sex scenes. Weird usage of the fake boyfriend trope and ultimately the plot is so nothing I really couldn’t care less, but the interpersonal love has it where it counts. Feels a little like a stereotypical office romance manga with a boys’ love twist, which is neither here nor there.
Daraku Kazoku-ron (Dysfunctional Family Therapy) by Tsurukame Mayo It’s hard getting a good read on this one. There’s a lot of setup but the setup feels like it isn’t done yet. It seems like it’s trying to be a slow burn but I don’t know for sure… This manga has elements of found family but not in any way you’d expect, and revolves around two men who slept with a woman and now has to figure out who’s going to be the parent now that the mother passed away. The relationships are kind of all over the place so far, but where I was able to read up to it’s clear the intent is for them to have been mutually in love in the past, but it still feels like I don’t super know whats going on.
Musubime wo Hodoitara (Once You Loosen the Knot) by ICHI Bom Picked this one up without realizing it only had one chapter currently, and it’s alright. I learned some neat things about tea ceremonies at least! I’m interested to see more, though the place I read this at tagged this as “twins” and that scares me, but it may be there just because the love interest may have a twin? Cos it so far has it established that the two boys are from different families. If it turns out that it’s some nasty incest stuff I’m gonna drop it.
Chiba Kyoukan wa Nabikanai (Professor Chiba Isn’t Flattered) by KINGYOBACHI Deme This manga is a bit strange, but it wasn’t a bad read. It’s about a driving teacher falling in mutual love with one of his (same age) students who turned out to be a shy mangaka. I don’t super like the student-teacher relationship dynamic as a whole but I’m willing to look past it if it’s not super weird or creepy about it… This one was okay.
[18+] Ore no Kareshi ga Ichiban Kawaii by NIHONMATSU Shino An immensely cute manga with childhood-friends-to-lovers. I love love love seeing punk representation even if it’s with actual, literal delinquents, and the relationship dynamic was very cute. It does have sex scenes, though I skipped them usual. The story is very charming and was all in all a good read!
[18+] Adatsubaki Yugamite Haguruma by Fukiya Furo A historical manga about samurai. This is a real weird one with dynamics, and it’s an enemy to lovers type manga. Despite all of its quirks, I couldn’t really bring myself to put it down though the romance itself is… Kind of super messed up. This follows the story of a samurai who murders the man he loves, only to be challenged by his dead lover’s son, who falls in love with him during his mission for revenge. It’s wack.
[18+] Furimuite Tsukamaete (I Want To See Me In Your Eyes) by Yoriko Another oddball manga with weird dynamics. Childhood friend/crush’s younger brother moves in with the main character sometimes after said crush moves in with his girlfriend. They eventually fall in love. It’s a strange dynamic, but overall the manga is kind of cute.
Slow Morning by Kagis Childhood friends type manga where they’re reunited again after 6 years. Not enough has happened in the manga so far to give me a clear opinion but I like the art style and I’m interested to see how this one goes!
Sasori to Otome by SUMIYA Zeniko A childhood friends-to-lovers between a mangaka and his ex classmate. It’s… Alright? I didn’t hate it though the dynamic is ultimately lacking to me… I only read the one marked “Volume 1” thus far so maybe it gets better later?
[18+] 18.44 by Momoko Suika Good ol gay baseball. Childhood friends type manga where one of the two is really stupid. It’s not a bad manga and is rather cute, though as usual I skipped the sex scene at the end cos I don’t super care.
[18+] Achira Kochira de Aimashou (The Man in the Mirror) by Yukibayashi A romance between a would-be king and a would-be family head. The premise was kind of silly but it won me out in the end. I enjoyed it quite a bit, and I did appreciate seeing a man with longer hair in a manga for a change…
[18+] Fukou-kun wa Kiss Suru Shika Nai! by GAMOKO Tsuyu A manga about a chronically unlucky man and a chronically lucky man falling in love. It was a bit refreshing how the relationship itself felt a little bit more normal compared to other manga I’ve read. It was pretty good.
Haru no Mozu by fu Another slow rolling ongoing manga. It’s interesting so far and doesn’t really seem to super understand what being nonbinary is, but still need to see that appear in a manga. I’m curious to see how this manga will go.
[18+] Chiguhagu na Kiss (Hug Me, Kiss Me) by SUEHIRO Machi A misunderstanding turns into a rather wholesome romance. It was a good read, though as usual I skipped the sex scenes. I didn’t know how to feel at first cos it opened up with the protagonist trying to get a girlfriend but I ended up enjoying it in the end.
THIS RULES
thank you flannel, your opinions/synopses are also very appreciated!!! ^o^

The great year of 2021 is going to end soon. What are your thoughts on it so far?
This year was a roller coaster, honestly. I'm graduating college in literally five days, so that's scary. I'm applying for master's school, which is also intimidating. But I got my cat this year, too, which has been great, and I love having a little buddy. My partner and I are still together and doing well, which makes me happy. My friends and family are all happy and healthy and doing well. I've done a lot of activism this year too, which is something I plan to continue doing.
Something that's also been really great this year is all of you. I really appreciate the community I've found here. I can't thank all of you enough for supporting my work; all of you inspire me to keep writing and improving my skills. So I truly thank all of you for that.
I'm from America (RIP), so I'm not super stoked about how things have gone down this year politically. But that's a whole different bag of beans.
Like everyone else, I've consumed so much content this year, so I'm going to give you all some of my recommendations.
Helluva Boss (TV Show)
➵ A Youtube spinoff show based on Hazbin Hotel. Three imps and a Hell Hound, all living in the Pride Ring of Hell, run a company where they kill living humans for sinners.
➵ The first season has eight episodes plus a pilot episode. It's amusing, but it can be considered graphic/mature. I liked Hazbin Hotel, but I really love Helluva Boss. It's fun, thought-provoking, and has good music. It even has well-known actors such a Norman Reedus (Daryl from the Walking Dead) and Alex Brightman (Beetlejuice from Beetlejuice the Musical).
Miss. Kobayashi Dragon Maid (Anime)
➵ Kobayashi is a programmer who spends too much time at the office or at the bar critiquing the refined world of maids. On her way to work one day, a dragon appears at her door, insisting on being Kobayashi's personal live-in maid.
➵ With two seasons and a movie (currently), Miss. Kobayashi's Dragon Maid stole my heart. I'm a sucker for comedy/slice of life shows. It looks like just fanservice on the surface, but I promise it's not. There is some fanservice, but it is ignorable. The show does have some issues with it regarding the fanservice characters, but I'm at a point in my anime career where it's not shocking. It's a very cute, heartwarming show.
Centaur World (Netflix Original)
➵ A battle-hardened warhorse gets separated from her beloved Rider during an accident involving a magical artifact. Horse wakes up in a cartoonish land in which all of its inhabitants are centaurs in some form or another. Her mission is to find her Rider and end the war, but when a herd of silly-looking centaurs finds her, they are determined to become her friends.
➵This show looks goofy and ridiculous on the surface, but I really enjoyed it. It's one of those shows that takes a dark turn quickly. If you can get past some of the bad jokes at the beginning, I'm sure you'll enjoy it; as of right now their only two seasons (21 episodes in total).
The Goblin Emperor by Kathrine Addison (Book)
➵When his elven father and half brothers die in an accident, an 18-year-old goblin prince is forced to take the throne. Prince, now Emperor Maia, is forced to navigate a world full of eleven aristocracy who are all out to usurp the throne.
➵This book hit all of my boxes. It was so good. Maia is such a sweet character who you can see grow throughout the book. It's a great blend of my favorite genres; fantasy and political intrigue. It even has a splash of Romance on the side, just the way I like it. This book did come out in 2014, but I've only just now read it. I genuinely love this book and Maia. Usually, I'm not a fan of lengthy series because they can't hold my interest, but I wish there had been a sequel because I adore Maia. I think about him all the time and what could've possibly happened if a sequel was written.
The Unspoken Name by A.K. Larkwood (Book)
➵A young orc girl is intended to be a sacrifice to the Unspoken God, but she agrees when a charismatic traveler offers her a life beyond a sacrificial lamb. Follow Corswe on her adventure to discover a great treasure for her master/father figure.
➵So firstly, the protagonist is a lesbian orc woman. Which is A+. Also, daddy issues. I really loved this book a lot. I like Corswe, and the author does an outstanding job of taking emotional advantage of the reader. Also, lesbian orc woman. The author is currently writing a sequel that is supposed to come out next year, so I'm excited about that. There's also a book that I haven't read set in the same universe, but I've only been able to find it in German. So I'm going to buy it soon and use it to practice my language learning skills.
Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse (Book)
➵ Every day the prophecy for-telling the return of the Crow God is inching closer. Follow a merchant, a priestess, and a conduit on a unique adventure across a pseudo-Mesoamerican setting.
➵Shut up this book is so cool. It's a dark fantasy novel inspired by Indigenous Mesoamerican culture. How is that not the coolest shit ever?? Roanhorse took great care to research different cultures while writing this book and even has a references page. The setting alone was enough to immediately grab my attention. I'm begging y'all to pick up this book. It's unique, and there was so much love and care put into this book. This book also features a nonbinary character that is a prominent side character, who's actions affect the plot. It is a stand-alone book, but the author has talked about making books similar to this one. She mentioned using the Cahokia site for inspiration. (Cahokia is a Mississippian site in Illinois, USA, the Mississippians being an Indigenous Culture that appeared in parts of the American South and Midwest. It's super exciting stuff, so I linked the wiki page)

(requested by calligomiles)
“Good morning, Doctor!” Grani walked into his office and gave him a salute. “Officer Grani reporting as ordered!”
The mask on his face smiled at her. “Morning, Officer Grani. Have an assignment for you, should you choose to accept it.”
“Should I choose to accept it? Well, of course I’ll accept it! What can I do to help?” No doubt in her mind, whatever it was, she could take care of it.
“It’s not police work, or crime-stopping, or anything super flashy, but I know that’s not what you’re about anyway.” He opened a drawer, pulled out a file, and showed her a picture. “Do you know Rosa, by any chance?”
The Kuranta shook her head. “Not personally, no, but I’ve seen her around before.”
“Good, that’s better than nothing. I want you to be her friend.”
“...That’s it?” She chuckled. “Shucks, I thought you were going to give me something challenging, the way you built it up. Rosa, right? We’ll be besties even if it’s not a mission, and you can count on that.”
The Doctor nodded. “Keep in mind, officer, I wouldn’t give you this assignment if I expected just anyone to be capable of-”
“I should probably go and find her now - it’s nearly lunchtime. Bye, Doctor! Have a good day!” And with all the speed her little legs could carry her, she was gone.
“And she’s gone.” He sighed. “She’ll probably be fine, but I’ve never seen her run off like that...”
Ran off she did; Grani initially planned to check everywhere for the Ursus, but after some more thought, she realized where she’d seen her: at the Logistics desk, shuffling paperwork. Making a beeline there paid off, as Rosa was in fact at that same desk, moving paper from one box to one of two smaller boxes. As the Kuranta entered through the double doors, the noble pulled together a smile. “Good morning; how can I help you?”
“Oh, I’m not here on business. Are you taking your lunch break soon?”
“I will be, yes.” Rosa cocked her head. “May I ask why you wish to know that?”
The officer flashed her a far more genuine smile and a two-for-one coupon for a Siracusan pizza place. “I can’t use this coupon by myself, so I was wondering if you like pizza. My treat!”
“Hmm...Miss Dobermann was saying I should watch what I eat more closely, but I suppose a few slices couldn’t hurt. I’m ready to leave when you are.” She stood up from her chair, grabbing a purse from behind the desk and sliding it over her shoulder.
“Awesome!” Grani walked over to her, offering her arm. “Let’s go!”
Natalya took her arm-in-arm, although somewhat confused. “Officer Grani, is it? Why do you need my arm?”
“So I don’t lose you on the way there, of course. Off we go!” And at a nice gallop, she sped off, noble in tow.
‘What is going on here?’ The Ursus thought to herself as she was whisked away to Pizza Castle. ‘I barely know who she is, and here we are, racing off for lunch together. Then again, I’ve read a few romance novels that worked like this, but that couldn’t be it, could it? Hmm...We’ll see, I suppose.’
Parked at a table, sharing an outwardly-facing booth that might as well have been a couch, her suspicions only seemed to cement themselves as the Kuranta started up a conversation. “So, Rosa, how’s the office treating you?”
“I admit, I was anticipating more field missions after becoming an official Operator, but Logistics suits me well enough. Are you working on a case, officer, or...”
“Huh? No, I’m off-duty for a while; Doctor told me to take some time for myself.” She cheered when the pizza arrived. “Alright! Thick or thin crust, Rosa?”
Rosa was reaching for the pizza cutter as she asked. “I can get it myself.”
“You’d have to reach over the table to reach the cutter, though, right?” Grani already had the other that’d been brought to the table in her hand.
“True, but...Alright. Thin crust, please.” Wait, how was she in a better position to do this when she was so noticeably smaller? “I’m still a bit confused on the reason you asked me to come with you.”
The Kuranta smiled as she handed her a pizza-piled plate. “Well, there’s a saying where I’m from: a stranger’s just a friend you haven’t met yet. I wanted to meet you today.”
“...Why, though?” Still wasn’t computing.
“Well, that’s a good question.” The officer took a bite of veggie supreme, taking her time with it. “I guess because I want to be your friend.”
Was she messing with her now? “Yes, but why?”
“Oh! That’s what you’re confused about? I mean, there’s really not another reason; I want to be friends because I want to.”
“Ah.” Rosa, realizing she had nothing to add from there, simply nodded as she enjoyed her sausage pizza. “I only know one other person who can think like that, but we’re both so busy nowadays...”
Grani gave her a pat/rub on the shoulder. “Well, I’m not going to be busy for the next couple weeks, so you can count on me!”
“Right.” The Ursus didn’t mean to sound ungrateful, but she still didn’t know this woman from a Knight-
“Here; that’s my cell number.” Did she just carry around cards with her number on them? “If you need anything, anything at all, just give me a call, and I’ll come running.”
She took the card and pocketed it; it’d be rude to put her number in her phone at the table with her. “I’ll keep you in mind.”
“Great! Oh, hey, waiter? Can we refills, please?”
‘Oh...When did I run out of water? And how did she notice before me?’ Natalya looked at Grani curiously. ‘And why me?’
-----------
Several hours later, as the sun began to set after a long day of work, Rosa was in her apartment, lying on her couch, looking at the card she’d taken and wondering what would happen if she called the Kuranta right now. Surely she’d be tired, too, but maybe she’d be free to talk?...That would be nice. She decided to take the chance, pulling out her phone and clicking in the digits. Less than one ring later, “Hello, Officer Grani speaking?”
“Good evening, Grani-”
“Rosa! Hi!” That was...much more enthusiasm than expected. “Want me to swing by?”
Huh? Well, honestly, “you’re not busy?”
“I might be off-duty, but my brain doesn’t know that yet. Heh. See you in a minute?”
“Sure thing.” Actually, while she was out, the noble had an idea. “Would you mind grabbing some vanilla ice cream?”
The officer chuckled. “You read my mind. I’ll be right over!”
“Thank you, Grani!” When was the last time she’d cheered like that? This- This had to be love, right? All the books said this was how love was supposed to feel, didn’t they? But how? They’d only known each other for a few hours now…
“Hey, Rosa, I’m here!” Knock knock. “Can I come in?”
The Ursus roused herself from the mental fog that’d slowly enveloped her enough to open the door. “Good eveni- that’s a large tub of ice cream.”
“I thought you might like leftovers!” It was at least two gallons of ice cream.
“That’s a good point. Thank you.” Why was she so damn cute? Was it the sheer enthusiasm, or maybe the fact that even her sweatpants had the thigh cutouts? “I must admit, I’m still not used to the thought of you being so...available.”
Grani shrugged as she went to the kitchen, ice cream in tow, and rummaged around for an ice cream scoop. “Just part of the deal, I guess. Hey, where do you keep your ice cream scoop?”
“Oh, I don’t have one; I eat from the tub itself usually.”
“Oh! Convenient.” Two spoons later, and the Kuranta was sitting on the couch, ice cream on a TV tray between them. “So, anything you wanna talk about?”
Rosa shook her head. “Not particularly, no. I just was...lonely, I suppose. After lunch, I didn’t see another person while I was at the office.”
“Not a one? That must’ve been awful.” Stupid TV tray blocked her from anything more than a pat on the shoulder. This would’ve been a great time for a hug.
“The strange part is that normally I’m used to it,” the noble replied. “I spend a great deal of time in my own head, but after we left, it took barely a few minutes before I missed you.”
The officer blinked, setting her spoon on the tray. “You didn’t call me, though?”
“I didn’t want to be a bother. Of course, now that you’re here, I see how silly that was, but at the time, it made sense.” She sighed, a faintly self-deprecating smile glued to her face.
“Well, shoot. If I’d known, I never would’ve left.” Grani chuckled. “Honestly, I thought you might need a little break, but it sounds like you hadn’t had enough of me yet.”
Natalya turned to look at her, and the words fell out of her mouth. “How could I possibly have enough of you?”
“I mean, some people think I’m a bit high-energy-”
“But that’s what makes you so precious!” There were two thoughts in Rosa’s mind at this point: ‘Stop playing all your cards, damnit!’ and ‘Heheh, pretty horse compliments go brrrr.’
That did elicit a blush from the Kuranta. “Precious, eh?”
“Absolutely...I don’t know what came over me just then,” she muttered once she was back in control of her own voice.
“Aw, that’s alright.” The officer stood up and sat down on the other side of the Ursus before giving her a side-hug. “Much better~”
As Grani set her head on her shoulder, Rosa suddenly felt tears coming to her eyes. “Grani...”
“Don’t you worry ‘bout a thing, darlin’. I’m not going anywhere.” Especially not now holy shit she made a great pillow.
“...Good.” The noble’s fingers found their way to the Kuranta’s hair. “I didn’t know people could fall for each other so fast in real life.”
The officer would’ve replied to that, asking what she’d meant by ‘love,’ but honestly? Being this close to her right now, she understood exactly how she felt.

I said at the beginning of the year that I would share my reviews more on my blog instead of just on Instagram and Goodreads. I’ve been reading a lot so far this year, so my reviews will be delayed on here.
Friend me on Goodreads here to read my reviews in real-time!
___
51. The Miserable Mill by Lemony Snicket--⭐️⭐️.5
“I’ll be honest, this one was kind of just meh. There were some parts that started to be creepy, but compared to the last three books, this one was surprisingly tame. Hopefully this series isn’t already losing steam!”
___
52. Hate Notes by Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“What I loved about this book is how it didn’t feature unnecessary drama or miscommunication. I say this first because I feel like this is my biggest complaint when I don’t enjoy a romance novel. I’ll admit I was surprised with how much I enjoyed HATE NOTES. It was funny, heartfelt, spicy, and man, it was romantic. There’s a very spicy scene at the end that makes me wonder why the bar is so low for real life romantic expectations. This guy was flawed because he was suffering from a broken heart and another mystery, but when he started to allow himself to feel again, it was amazing. Our protagonist is a woman who also knows all about heartbreak and her path in this book was fun to read. I loved that she didn’t take no for an answer, but still had enough self-awareness to take care of herself and her heart. If you love romances that feature the enemies to lovers trope and a slow burn office romance, then I think you’ll love this one!”
___
53. Living Room Matsunaga-San Volume 1 by Keiko Iwashita--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“This one isn’t perfect. I’m normally a huge fan of a great age gap but after researching the age of consent in Japan it weirdly makes sense in that context (she is in the middle of high school and he is a graduated man, who I assume is somewhere in his 20s, working as a graphic designer.) The story has potential and I’m excited for it. I have up to volume four on standby (I’ll hopefully be reading them this month)! I’m excited to get to know some of the other characters and see what they bring to the story! Also, what familial circumstances brought our MC to her current situation? Plus that cliffhanger!! If you love a cute slice of life manga with a prickly love interest and an age gap, set in a boarding house where the MC and her love interest live really close to each other, then you might like this one. Phew, that was a mouthful!”
___
54. The Rage of Dragons by Evan Winter--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“I was wary of this book at first because it’s super intimidating—especially when I’d already heard so many good things! But I actually ended up really loving it, especially the journey that the MC goes on. One of my favourite tropes in fantasy is the vengeance trope because if it’s done right, the MC turns into a proper bad ass. Their sec-awareness expands and the level of whatever skill they’re trying to master goes up exponentially, reaching almost god-like status. This book had this trope and then some. Also because of this trope, certain moments in this book made the storyline so darn cool! Our MC suffers a terrible loss and it sets off a chain of events that span what I assume are years. He vows to get his revenge, all the while proving to everyone that you don’t need to be a beast of a man physically to destroy your opponents. The character development, the relationships, the world building, and even the spicy spice were really well done. The pacing was fantastic (I was immediately hooked), and I never experienced a moment of boredom. I’m so excited to see what else this author writes! If you love fantastical worlds, power and magic, and fighting scenes that are just really cool, you might enjoy this one!”
___
55. First Love by James Patterson & Emily Raymond--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“This book made me cry like a baby! I wasn’t expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. This reminded me so much of A WALK TO REMEMBER and THE FAULT IN OUR STARS. It was short, but I knew it would pack a punch—especially after that intro by Patterson. My main criticism would be that this book felt like I was reading this on a sped up escalator rather than on a set of stairs you’d climb at a steady pace. Everything was happening really fast, especially at the end. I wish the story could have slowed down in some aspects so we could adjust and truly feel the themes and life lessons. I’d recommend this for anyone who likes a good cry and for anyone who loves a road trip story featuring two best friends who may or may not like each other as more than friends.”

Dark Planet Warriors Series
Tumblr media
Warning: Gore, violence, some situation of wrongful touching
Summary:
8 stories. The series begins with a bug infestation on the mining station outside of earth. A species called Kordolians are there to be the exterminators. After a meeting with a strange human our primary story kicks off while the bug story plays in background in some stories while being the main focus for several books. The consistent story for the other 8 books is a romance between the aliens and humans that results in a war for purity.
Person thoughts:
Great fuckin series. Almost every book has a different couple with only the very first couple being the focus several other times. First book is fantastic, especially the first sex scene. Its so good. The next few focus on the bug infestation till its dealt with then it gets back to the war. Don't skip them though, Riker is a treat that deserves to be acknowledged. My favorite one of this amazing series is Infinity's Embrace. That book has some dope characters. Electric Heart is my least favorite because it's like a real bad Watch Dogs (video game).
Rating: 9/10
Books:
Dark Planet Warriors
Dark planet Falling
Into the Light
Out of Darkness
Forged in Shadow
Infinity's Embrace
Electric Heart
Brilliant Starlight
Office Alien Series
Tumblr media
Warning: Awkwardness, drug use, kidnapping (kind of)
Summary:
Three books about an office relationship with three different aliens. Each alien goes through the venture of courting a human woman. All of them succeed on confusing then educating these people on their culture. All the aliens come from the same planet that has been ravaged by a tough alien species that try to wipe them out with their superior technology. That isn't a plot point, its just an explanation. Each story shows the struggles of cultural differences and how education and understanding can help make the world a better place.
Person thoughts:
I adore this series. One book in this series actually got a perfect score from me, which is strange cause I'm a tough grader. The first book has a super awkward lad who just seems to hate everyone. Its really cute and I like them both though their relationship is filled with cringe. The second book I didn't much care for. The main love dude was kind of an idiot and was too blinded by acceptance to be a reasonable thinking alien. Still decent but Its not my cup of tea. The last one- sweet jesus- was amazing. It has a ‘my cousin Vinny’ vibe with their relationship where they fight often but its like their form of foreplay. So good. There is another series that’s super short that takes place 1 year later for each story. Totally worth a read after you read the series.
Rating: 8/10
Books:
The E.T. Guy
The New Guy
The Security Guy
(Christmas special)
Kraving Khiva
Tumblr media
Warning: Sex workers, forced prostitution, abuse
Summary:
Eve is a virgin who is fed up with it. After her father's death she has been ghosting by in life with her best friend. After said friend points out a brothel of some interesting aliens she decides to give the place a try to finally rid herself of her virginity. After just one night she keeps coming back, falling for the sex worker. Romance ensues with lots of strife and abuse to keep the two from their HEA.
Personal Thoughts:
Man, this story represents everything I love in a story. Tons of fluff. It was a really good slow burn that I didn’t expect from a story about a prostitute. The cover gives the illusion of a typical middle aged mother romance - which I guess it is- but it has so much more. I only had one problem with the story, the ending. I felt they could have given more information but they just glossed over it. Besides that, hot book. The second one is really boring, just a slice of life that I couldn't get into.
Rating: 9/10
Books:
Kraving Khiva
Prince of Firestone
The Queen's Ransom
Tumblr media
Warning: Near death situations, a lot of near death situations, gore
Summary:
432 pages. Long book. Jalia enters into a competition to win a great prize. The interest of great fortune is too much for her to pass up. Little does she know the treachery the competition hides or the actual prize. The king of Minotaurs is hosting an event to test the strength, endurance, and intelligence of potential wives. In a culture that values strength they refuse to accept a queen who hasn't been tried. Genius Jalia goes through challenge after challenge, nearly dying about every chapter while catching the attention of a charming king.
Personal Thoughts:
I generally don't have the patience for long books but this one never dragged on. Every chapter was captivating and riveting. The challenges were interesting and Jalia's solutions were pretty genius. The relationship between the king and her is pretty grand, I adore them greatly. My only problem with the book is all the potty humor and insults. She was a genius but her insults left much to be desired. Once her biggest annoyance is no longer in the picture does that kind of stuff end.
Rating: 9/10
Book:
The Queen's Ransom
The Kraken
Tumblr media
Warning: Gore, racism, attempts of suicide(only 1 book), sassy AI
Summary:
A mysterious creature has lived in the ocean long ago, since the beginning of the settlement on this planet. After a nearly drowning woman is saved a series kicks off. Each book has a different relationship of humans and Krakens. Every book tells the story of how the krakens go from living in isolation at the bottom of the ocean to breeding with humans.
Personal thoughts:
When I first read this story I was just getting into monster romance. The love interests have fairly human tops but hella tentacle bottoms. So I was a little off-put by it but as I read on I didn’t care. The first one is pretty good for a start. The second one was decent, I didn’t really care for it. I actually skipped the 3rd one my first go around. Which is fine, it doesn't add too much and its short. Its still worth a read. The 4th one, fucking grand. 5th one? My all time favorite of the series! If you don't want to read them all at least read the 5th one. Like ask me for story details and I'll give you a cliff note for what's mentioned in that story then you can read in peace. 6th was ok, love the sassy AI. I didn't read the 7th one. Its two old people and I just can't
Rating: 8/10
Books:
Treasure Abyss
Jewel of the Sea
Hunter of the Tide
Heart of the Deep
Rising from the Depth
Fallen from the Stars
Lover from the Waves
Escaping Wonderland
Tumblr media
Warning: Sexual assault, gore, lots of sexual stuff
Summary:
Alice is wrongfully placed in a psych ward that specializes in simulation therapy. She is placed in a pod then taken to the world of wonderland. This twisted version of the children's classic introduces a rapey mad hater and manipulative Red King. The main love interest is a playful lad who has more control of the simulation than most. The two run from the clutches of the Red King while trying to escape the simulation.
Personal thoughts:
I had very low hopes for this story. I didn't expect it to be as good as it was. It was a twist on the beloved movie and book. Everything was rapey and creepy and I weirdly loved it. Of course nothing too terrible happened to the main lady so it made those situations more tolerable but only just. I adore the main dude, shadow. He was a playful little mischief maker and I would die for him. What made this book better for me was when everything hit the fan they didn't rid him of his sassy personality. Most books make the cocky, silly, playful personality as something that is bad and needs to change. This one they didn’t and kept it. So good.
Rating: 9/10
Books:
Escaping Wonderland
Infinity City
Tumblr media
Warning: Abuse, gore, sexual assault, dope ass fighting
Summary:
A city where criminals are more in control than most people think. Each book takes the reader through different adventure of different people. All having the similarity of protecting the ones they love. The first is of an assassin protecting the only woman who has made him feel so strongly. The second is with a mob boss hacker who grows fond of a shy human. The third is the second in command of the mob boss hacker who finds a pregnant woman in a menagerie and discovers she is his mate. Fourth is one of the workers of the mob boss's security team who gets taken by some slavers along with a woman he was entertaining for the night.
Personal thoughts:
First book sucked. He was obsessives and pretty much took all her choices. It wasn't till the end that he was like "my bad, you can leave if you want". Bleh. Second book was fan-fucking-tastic. Arc is a charming idiot with an amazing backstory. I didn't like the girl in the beginning but she grew on me. I love that he focuses on her but still pays attention to work and his 'family'. The third was surprisingly good. I generally don't like stories where someone is pregnant because they get boring. This one was not that. She was never a hindrance or weak, she was a badass. With her big kitty man they made an amazing duo. Also any scenes with her man and the baby made me tear up. He was so sweet. Fourth was boring, it reminds me too much of a lot of other stories.
Rating: 8/10
Books:
Silent lucidity
Shielded hearts
Untamed Hunger
Savage Desire
------------------------------------------
While people watch TV or Youtube in their free time, I read. I have such a weird organization with everything i read because i tend to reread stories and forget i read them. the entire time i read it im like “have i read this before?”. so for books i write them down, rate them, then review them. i didn’t post the reviews here because it would be so many spoilers. Also i sort my favorite fanfics by fandom then relationship. i read so fucking much, its a problem at this point.
If you liked this recommendation drop a like, reblog, or reply. i will perhaps do another if you all like this. i have read so many books and i can post some decent ones and some god awful ones. perhaps you all can tell me how wrong my thoughts are on the ones i deem terrible. i think we will probably agree, ‘free’ books tend to have lower standards.

In episode 19, Tanjirou was epic Chihaya’s back and she’s ever angelic Alita is killing it on the big screen These are a few of my favorite things
When Eri cries When Magase hacks When I’m screaming mad I simply remember my favorite things And then I don’t feel so bad

References
Verse 1
Line 1: The first season of a remake of Fruits Basket aired this year to critical and popular acclaim. Based on the manga by Natsuki Takaya, this version featured more input by the mangaka and replaces the older series, which was the subject of mixed feelings from manga fans. Part two will premiere in 2020. You can currently stream season one on Crunchyroll. We also wrote a number of articles about the remake.
Line 2: Haru is a stray cat that is adopted by writer Subaru Mikazuki in the anime, My Roommate is a Cat. Introverted by nature to the point of being a shut-in, and having lost both of his parents years earlier, Subaru has no idea how to care for a cat. Meanwhile, Haru has also led a difficult life and finds Subaru hard to deal with. However, they learn to mutually care for each other and help one another grow. You can currently stream this anime on Crunchyroll.
Line 3: Set against the backdrop of the Viking invasion of England near the turn of the 2nd millennium, Vinland Saga is a tale about Thorfinn, who seeks revenge after a violent attack that changes his and his family’s life. As he grows and becomes part of the Viking incursion, Thorfinn also becomes involved with Canute, a Viking prince. Vinland Saga is streaming on Amazon Prime.
Verse 2
Line 1: One Punch Man and its super-powered up hero, Saitama, returned this year in a much-anticipated season two. Early in the season, he becomes friends with King, a highly-ranked hero but one who is actually fraudulent. Still, the two get along well and play video games frequently—King always wins against Saitama, who is a terrible gamer. Season two of One Punch Man can be streamed on Hulu.
Line 2: Perhaps the best harem of series of the year was The Quintessential Quintuplets, which features the cantankerous Futaro, who is harangued into tutoring the less-than-academically-stellar Nakano sisters. Miku is the first of the five to take an active romantic interest in Futaro. Relatively quiet, Miku is also sharp-tongued, earnest, and most known for her trademark headphones. Check out all the Miku fanart that’s posted on Anime Pop Heart, and watch the series on Crunchyroll.
Line 3: The third and final volume of Star Wars: Lost Stars, and officially licensed Star Wars manga, was recently released. We reviewed the series, which you can purchase on Amazon.
Chorus 1
Line 1: Muzan is the antagonist of Demon Slayer, a vicious demon whose thirst for violence and everlasting existence leads to frequent death and tragedy. Demon Slayer can be streamed on Crunchyroll. More on Demon Slayer to follow.
Line 2: The Promised Neverland begins with a bang, as Emma and Norman discover in episode one that instead of being adopted, as inferred, the tiny and cute child, Conny, has been killed and will be served as a meal to demons. The Promised Neverland can be streamed on Crunchyroll. More on The Promised Neverland to follow.
Verse 3
Line 1: Kaguya-sama: Love is War follows two student council officers / rivals who pretend to dislike each other though the opposite is true; the blushing is frequent and heavy, including that for the title character. But the most popular character from the series is another officer not involved in the romance, the radomly hilarious Chika, whose dance has become much imitated and memed. Kaguya-sama can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
Line 2: Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl, the movie following up on the similarly titled Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Sempai series, was an emotional ride for the audience. The film revealed significant backstory details as it focused particularly on the mystery behind one character’s appearances and disappearance, while putting a favorite one in peril. We were so excited that we did not one, but two reviews of the film.
Line 3: As mentioned earlier, The Promised Neverland, the first season of which takes place largely at the Grace Field House, is an exhilarating and at times terrifying ride, featuring a cast of young characters who are being farmed as food. Spoilers ahead for the anime: The kids make an escape, which includes sliding down strings to cross over a large chasm in one of the most climactic scenes of the season. We blogged on the show episodically from both a manga reader’s (spoiler) perspective and that of one who hadn’t read the manga (non-spoiler). You can watch the series on Crunchyroll.
Verse 4
Line 1: Perhaps the most popular new series this year was Demon Slayer. The main character, Tanjirou, finds that his family has been viciously killed by a demon while he was away, with only his sister, Nezuko, surviving, but transformed into a demon herself. As he seeks to cure her, Tanjirou becomes part of the demon slayer corps, and in episode 19, his power emerges dramatically in a scene so beautifully animated by Ufotable and so full of emotion that it became and remains a highly-discussed moment. Our podcasters talked about it, too.
Line 2: Chihaya is the protagonist of Chihayafuru, an anime about the world of competitive karuta, a Japanese card game based on memorization and speed. The series returned with a third season six year after season two, and the genre-crossing show remained as beautiful as ever; the same could be said of its main character, who from a distance seems like an untouchable beauty (though she’s more of the absent-minded type in person). Chihayafuru can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
Line 3: After more than a decade in development hell, James Cameron’s adaptation of the Battle Angel Alita manga (titled Alita: Battle Angel for the film) hit the big screen early in 2018 with a different director at hand (Robert Rodriguez took the reigns while Cameron produced) and to mostly positive reviews from the anime community (though our review was more muted), as well as fair box office returns. Alita also kills it because, well, she slices bad guys up.
Chorus 2
Line 1: In season four of My Hero Academia, the new villain Overhaul is brought in, as well as Eri, the young girl he is victimizing and taking advantage of for his diabolical schemes. My Hero Academia can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
Line 2: Muzan may get all the attention, but the most vile villain of the year may be a woman (Minor spoilers ahead for Babylon). Magase, a mesmerizing woman at the center of a mysterious and deadly conspiracy, reveals her true colors during the midpoint of the season in one of the most horrific scenes in recent memory. Meanwhile, the show took a break after this, leaving the audience broken while waiting for new episodes to begin airing again a couple of weeks from now. You can catch up in the meantime through Amazon Prime, and read our take on that violent scene.

Any fantasy-ish BL recs- urban, high, supernatural, I'm good with pretty much anything? No or low smut is preferable, but I'll read smut if there's a good plot/characters around it. I haven't actually read a lot of BL, I'm usually in the shonen genre or like... vaguely-supernatural/yokai/fantasy-slice-of-life stuff like Natsume Yuujinchou, but anti-fujin sentiment is leaving me feeling spiteful :P
Reading BL out of spite is motivation I can get behind! (all the titles link to their Baka-Updates pages, so be aware of the categories for stuff you might not be into ^-^)
First off I’m legally obligated to shill for Konya mo Nemurenai, which is one of my favorites. Demons! They’re fun. The love interest is also just like, one of my favorite characters, he’s such an actually loveable asshole. It’s spin-off Kimi to Kore kara is cute too.
A Guy Like You, shared dream space and fated lovers and all that, the love interest goes between being a dick and not which can be annoying but I enjoyed it
A Sea of Conflicts, this one is saaaaaaaad, it’s also still on-going (i.e. still being scanlated) so it’s incomplete sadness too, I like it though (also the MC looks like Deku to me, just a bit)
Awairo Emaki is about a boy traveling with his yokai exorcist childhood friend, the art style is so nice and it was just really really good
Count 0, boy can see a counter above everyone’s heads that counts the number of lies that person has told in their life and is jaded because of it, until he meets another boy whose counter reads 0, very cute
DistopiA - Mikansei na Sekai, Sci-Fi rather than fantasy, boy ends up falling for an NPC in an MMO VR dating sim game (I still don’t know how that would work adgfhdgsadsghj) whose route is said to be basically impossible to even start, I liked this one a lot :D
Fading Colors, simple, cute, a liiiittle cliche, just your basic BL story with a Cat Boys twist
Haru to Kyuuketsuki is about manga artist who he uses a vampiric coffee shop owner as inspiration for his manga and ends up falling for him
Heart Silent, a boy who was born without a heartbeat meets a man who makes it beat for the first time in his life, this was so fucking cute I love webtoons adsghjkdh
Heaven & Hell Roman Company is so good okay, it’s just a ton of fun, angels and demons working in a company created by God because humans don’t need angels as much which was driving up unemployment, I love silly premises so much; the art is super cute and the couples are adorable, definitely one of my favorites
Kigurumi Planet, I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again this one has no right to be as good as it is, I mean look at that cover, it’s ridiculous but it’s also got like a pretty interesting plot and the romance is sweet it just makes me laugh whenever I think about it
Kuchizuke wa Niji no Ue de, kinda light supernatural, one man seems to be followed by sunny weather, the other by stormy weather, and then they meet and go mountain climbing, pretty simple and cute
Mazu wa, Hitokuchi., it’s about a farm that raises flying pigs seriously that’s so silly I love it
Muchuu no Hito, a bunch of people find themselves in someone’s lucid dream every night, where they’re ordered to prank the opposing side’s team by their leader, and the lone wolf office worker MC ends up falling for one of the boys on the rival team, it’s a lot of fun and really cute :D
Not For The Faint Of Heart, scaredy-cat works in a haunted house that’s actually haunted, and ends up dating the ghost in an effort to get him to pass on
Raising a Bat, more vampires, there’s so much angst it was delightful
Royal Servant, again beware the categories, I really really liked the premise for the fantasy bits though and the story and character’s are honestly super compelling if you can get past the main love interest’s… issues. The secondary couple is cute too.
Saiyaku wa Boku o Suki Sugiru, it’s basically a soulmate au in the form of a two family curse, where every month one of them will get hurt (and the other will receive the injuries as well) until the younger one’s 17th birthday, a curse that thus far has not left any of its victims alive - still ongoing! I reeeally like this one it’s super super good
The Strange Story Of A Guy Next Door And A Novelist, this one is still on-going and I’m just super interested in it?? A narcoleptic novelist has been having a recurring, progressive dreams about three boys (who might all be the same person?) since he was young, and one day a man who looks like one of the boys moves in next door

What were your favourite kdramas of 2020?
Awesome question anon!!
My Favorite K-Dramas of 2020
Flower of Evil: A psychological thriller centered around a jewelry maker who is running from his past, and his cop wife (power couple alert!)  who doesn’t know his original identity. The chemistry of the couple is amazing and all of the characters are nuanced and interesting. I was on the edge of my seat, AND sobbing! I’m going to be rewatching this in 2021 for sure.
Into The Ring: The perfect slice-of-life rom com!
Extracurricular: An unusual, fast paced thriller about an introverted high school boy mixed up in a prostitution ring. His crush gets involved and well, I don’t want to say what happens but it’s a wild and crazy ride. There really is not another k-drama like it. I like to refer to it as the least k-drama-y kdrama I’ve ever seen.
Cherry Magic!
Tumblr media
A Piece Of Your Mind: This kdrama really captured my heart (even if the premise is a not for everyone). Using an AI software to capture the personality of someone, a group of people are pushed together by a person they care about who is no longer alive. It’s an unusual premise, but the AI takes a back seat to the romance, friendship and healing that so many of them need.
Where Your Eyes Linger: A super cute BL web drama about a boy who is hired to be his friend’s body guard. There is a lot of tension and pining, and I fell in love with the stories pacing and the chemistry between the two leads.
Gaduri Sushi: A cute web drama about a tarot reading sushi restaurant owner who gets a new neighbor. It’s a funny and sweet romcom.
Kairos: This action packed fantasy thriller is so not my genre but it had me on the edge of my seat. Han Ae Ri, a hard working shop assistant ends up with a phone that can call Kim Seo Jin, a wealthy conglomerate employee one month into the future. They have a crime to solve and need to work together (kinda like Signal). It did have some flaws toward the end, but overall it was a solid and interesting drama.
Tumblr media
Hospital Playlist: This slice-of-life drama featuring five college friends who all work at the same hospital came to my mind first. Chae Song-Hwa is one of the most interesting characters I’ve ever seen in a drama and I love the depth and care the drama gives to every single person featured. There is some romance but it’s the hospital and friendship dynamics that make this show a must see.
Psychopath Diary: Super fun psychological thriller. Yoon Shi Yoon plays a goofy and innocent character who witnesses a murder and then gets amnesia. For kdrama reasons he’s convinced he’s the actual murderer and begins to lean into the role. The whole thing is a bunch of crazy mixups but the chemistry between the innocent guy and the killer is just...awesome! It’s funny and creepy and a great watch.
Psycho But It’s Okay: A gorgeous k-drama using fairytale narrations as a backdrop, features two brothers who lost their mother, and a beautiful & famous author who grew up in a traumatic and abusive household. Everyone is very closed off and holding onto intense pain, but the three come together to help one another move on and find happiness. Gorgeous angsty and melodramatic romance. Best friendship ever, and literally the prettiest lady I have ever seen.
Mystic Pop Up Bar: A fantasy drama featuring three souls who are tied together because of a painful past. The leading lady is punished by the afterlife to help settle grudges and the she enlists the help of a soft customer service boy who can read minds and another afterlife employee. They are the most hilarious and adorable trio ever to have trioed (is that a word?). If you like found family, you’ll love this.
XX: A girl power web drama about a bartender who lovers her job but ends up working for her ex best friend. It’s got a mellow and unique vibe for a k-drama (I’m pretty sure it’s inspired by Search: WWW), the romance is soft AND she has a gay best friend.
Crash Landing On You: A South Korean celebrity accidentally ends up in North Korea for k-drama reasons and is helped by a soft hearted soldier and his crew. It’s one of those totally ridiculous plot lines that makes a K-drama a k-drama - You know, the ones with chaebols and all sorts of tropes, and a lot of plot that ignores reality. Still, the couple is adorable, the found family is amazing and the romance is just epic.
Tumblr media
Shows that haven’t ended yet but might make the list: The Uncanny Counter, Lovestruck In The City, Run On, True Beauty (I mean it’s a long shot for that one but you never know! :)

Teachers don't date teachers (but You-sensei and Riko-sensei definitely are) Ch1
Summary: The whole student body and teachers teases the gym teacher, Watanabe You, with the new art teacher, Sakurauchi Riko, that they make a cute couple. How long can You deny this when Riko isn't helping to reduce the rumours?

Genre: Romance, Fluff, Slice of Teacher Life ;D
Words: 1327
Author Notes
Why do I get stuck with coming up with titles (and summaries) every single time?
I hope this story's title managed to capture attention somehow. =v=
May you enjoy~ XD
Tease 01 – You’re Sakurauchi-sensei’s Guide
Watanabe You was running to school. Not at her max speed, no, but it was of a wind-causing pace as she was (pun not intended) running late for the teacher's morning meeting.
Aw man, why did I stay up late marathoning Haikyuu!
The 25-year-old gym teacher vaults over a one-metre high gate to avoid the group of students walking slowly on the pathway up to school. One or two students whistled and others greeted good morning.
If I wanted, I could gather the class to play volleyball. Yikes! I hope the principal doesn't get mad at me!
You gives a quick wave and smile to the students before picking up speed down the hallways and up the stairs. One of the girls from the Student Council stops to chide, "No running in the corridors, sensei!"
Ah, caught by a student!
"Pardon me this one time!" You shouts as she shoots an apologetic smile over, not stopping her run.
The girl shakes her head but says, “Only because it’s you, Watanabe-sensei!”
You skids to a stop in front of the wooden door with the label ‘Meeting Room’ and she takes a deep breath to steady her breathing and brace herself for whatever is happening inside.
Here we go.
The gym teacher forgets to knock and opens the door with vigour coupled with a bright smile. “Good morning! Sorry I’m late. What’d I miss?”
3 years in teaching and I always forget about being formal.
The teachers all turned to look at the new arrival and You scans the room to see that the principal wasn’t present (thank goodness), and there was a single unfamiliar face; the only one who looks surprised by You’s entrance too - long, auburn red hair, gentle hazel eyes, sharp cheekbone-
“Watanabe-sensei! Good timing!”
“Thank you for volunteering to be Sakurauchi-sensei’s guide from now on!”
“Eh?” You looks away from the new face to look at her colleagues with confusion. “Guide..?”
Was it that time of the year for new teachers already?
The Head of the Mathematics department smiles. “Sakurauchi-sensei here is our new art teacher. And since you’re late…”
The Head of the Science department continues, “You shall be Sakurauchi-sensei’s school guide.”
Ah… A new art teacher and I’m being punished for being late. Makes sense.
You chuckles and walks over to the silently and patiently waiting art teacher, hands extended for a friendly handshake. “Watanabe You. Your full of energy and usually punctual, sports and gym teacher!”
What am I even saying? Maybe Sakurauchi-sensei didn’t even register I was late! Ahh, why did I bring it up?
“Usually punctual? I think you mean usually early.” The Head of Science jests about You’s habit to go for morning jogs and turn up super early in school even though she doesn’t have to.
You turns around to shoot a “shh, don’t tell Sakurauchi-sensei my good points just yet” glare before smiling to the new teacher who has yet to take her hand. “I hope I’m not scaring you in any way?”
The art teacher jumps a little and shakes her head quickly. “Oh no…I’m just…surprised…” The auburn-haired teacher shakes You’s hand – gentle like her demure.
Soft hands for an art teacher… Or were art teachers hands supposed to be soft..?
"It's nice to meet you... I'll be in your care." Sakurauchi-sensei bows after releasing You's hand.
You laughs and waves her hand in front of her. "Same here, same here."
Wow, she's really polite.
"Why aren't you taking a seat?" You gestures to a vacant chair and the slight tint of pink on the art teacher's face tells You that the pretty and polite teacher just might be kind of ditzy too.
Cute.
You smiles and grabs a seat after her new colleague settles in hers, and the meeting continues - when Sakurauchi-sensei will start teaching, discussion about how the other classes are going, if the curriculum needs dire changes, club notices and more. One and a half hour of meeting goes by soon enough, the teachers all know when to joke and when not to after all.
Most of the teachers file out to get to their next class or to their tables where they have homework to mark and whatnot, and You gets to her feet and stretches. “Mmm~ mm~”
Long hours of sitting really aren’t my thing.
The Head of the Art department was talking to the new teacher before looking over to You with a smile that seemed to indicate more but You simply cocks her head to the side, waiting for some sort of instruction or more formalities. “Watanabe-sensei is popular amount the students, so I’m sure she will make you feel a part of the school before you know it, Sakurauchi-sensei.”
Uwaa, more compliments! Stop, stop. Sakurauchi-sensei is going to look to me like I’m some sort of demigod now.
“I think Sakurauchi-sensei will be liked by all the students soon enough with a face like that.” You doesn’t think before she speaks.
The Head of Art grins. “I’m happy to hear that you find Sakurauchi-sensei pretty, Watanabe-sensei. But try not to steal her over to the sports facility, okay?”
“Wha- I don’t-”
“You don’t?” The Head of Art raises her eyebrows, taunting, and the teacher with her head filled with sports falls for it.
“I do! But- Ah.” You covers her reddening face with one hand and looks over to Sakurauchi-sensei who simply smiles apologetically.
And there goes all my first impressions… Sakurauchi-sensei probably thinks I’m 100% weirdo as if being late wasn’t bad enough.
“Alright.” The art teacher claps her hand once. “I won’t tease you any further. Take care of Sakurauchi-sensei, won’t you?”
You nods and salutes; a habit of hers. “Roger that!”
Once all the teachers left, You steps outside too, waiting for the auburn-haired teacher to exit too. You was pondering on which part of the school to show Riko around to first, but before she could decide or say anything, You notices that the new teacher was really pale in the face. “Sakurauchi-sensei? You look kind of pale, do you want to-”
You’s eyes widens as Riko falls forward. Not wasting a second, You catches Riko in her arms, holding the new art teacher gently and carefully. “Are you alright?”
Uwa! She’s really light! And thin!
Riko breathes unevenly as her head rests heavily on You’s shoulder. “I…”
You tightens her hold on Riko’s waist and shoulder. “I guess our first stop can be the Nurse’s office.” You cracks a smile to lighten the mood but her colleague shakes her head.
“I’m just…feeling a little light-headed because I skipped breakfast to arrive on time earlier…” Riko explained weakly and You’s furrowed in worry eyebrows raises high, surprised to hear that the seemingly reliable art teacher was almost late for the teacher meeting too.
Sakurauchi-sensei really is interesting.
“Skipping breakfast isn’t good, Sakurauchi-sensei.” You feigns a chiding tone and holds back a chuckle when she sees Riko try to hide her embarrassed face on her shoulder. “Guess our first stop will be the cafeteria then!”
I could grab a hot drink while I’m there too.
Riko nods but reaches up to touch You’s arm that was still propping her up. “Could I rest up for a bit more first..? Like this…”
You’s cheeks flushes a little as she grew conscious about the way she was holding her new colleague. “Sure…Wouldn’t want you to faint on your first day here.”
Sakurauchi-sensei is rather warm…
You sighs in her mind and looks anywhere but Riko’s resting expression against her sturdy shoulder as she doesn’t want to give her brain more reasons to think of anything funny and embarrassing.
A student from the newspaper club that happened to be passing by during her toilet break hides behind the wall after taking a picture of everyone’s favourite Watanabe-sensei embracing the new teacher, Sakurauchi-sensei. A new hot scoop has been found and to be shared with the school.

I really trust your podcast opinions, so: What would you offer to someone whose favorites are The Penumbra Podcast, Starship Iris, Wolf 359, and Greater Boston? (I've listened to many more, but those should give a sense of what I like. Also, despite 3/4 being set in space, space is not that important. LGBTQ+ rep is).
Anything by The Whisperforge production company is gonna give you lots of diversity of every kind and some damn high-quality writing but currently I’m just in love with Startripper!!, a kind of wonder-filled feel-good sci-fi Diners Drive-ins and Dives. It’s about Feston Pyxis, a former office worker traveling the universe in search of adventure. The very third episode features Feston helping a guy elope with his boyfriend (as played by Scotty Shoemaker) to escape an unwanted engagement, there have already been loveable space pirates, and there are only five episodes out so I’m willing to bet there will be more of the wonderful same. For their other shows, if you want gentle, loving magical realism and soft healing, try The Far Meridian, aka the audio equivalent of a hug on a bad day. If you want to cry about everything from the horrors of American patriotism to a gay interracial couple reaching out across time itself to find one another, try ars PARADOXICA.
If you feel up for some horror, The Magnus Archives rests somewhere in the space between a typical narrative and an anthology show: featuring readings of “statements” by people who encountered the supernatural, set beside the story of the poor, poor people who are trying to figure out the connections between these encounters. The writing and acting are top-notch, and it honestly feels like just as much of a mystery as a horror show, as you try to figure out the answers right alongside the archivists. At least half of the main characters as well as quite a few of the minor characters in the various episodes and several of the actors are LGBTQA+ (the writer is also the frontman of The Mechanisms, a band specializing in spectacularly queer musical retellings of myths, and also in being really, really good).
The Alexandria Archives is a much more lighthearted take on a horror anthology but is also super LGBTQA-friendly and I love it to bits. Half of the show is southern gothic Lovecraftian horror short stories, half of the show is the goofy late-night antics of the students of Alexandria University (Miskatonic’s southern rival, for the cosmic horror fans out there), as chronicled by “Morning Wood,” host of the student radio station’s 12 AM show. MW herself is ace and just off the top of my head there have been lesbian and agender characters.
If you like Starship Iris, try Procyon’s other podcasts, Station to Station and Under Pressure! Station to Station is a sci-fi mystery set on a scientific research vessel, as Dr. Miranda Quan attempts to figure out her best friend’s disappearance using a mysterious recording he left her, detailing the truth of the time-travel experiments they’re doing. Under Pressure is a slice-of-life story about personal lives and workplace tensions in a research station at the bottom of a deep-sea trench. Both are good. Both are gay. Science abounds. 10/10
MABEL. Haunted houses are not fun. Fairies are not friendly or pretty. Some eldritch lesbians are going to burn the world down hand in hand, and I am so very thrilled to hear them do it. (Or, a social worker leaves answering machine messages, trying to reach her client’s granddaughter.)
Violet Beach! @yahooanswer writes a good ass podcast, you guys, and imma copy her description which is that VB is “a soft-horror sci-fi dramadey, which is a lot of words mashed together, because genre is annoying. it centers on seven friends in their teens & twenties in a small maryland college town. when they start seeing weird occurrences all around them–bright purple skies or people who aren’t quite there or a really cute new girl at school who may or may not be a ghost–they start investigating. and while they might not be the heroes of the story, per se, they sure do want to know the truth.”
(It’s very good and I love it and I’m obnoxiously excited for season 3)
& of course there’s the very well-known The Bright Sessions and all of Night Vale Presents’ shows. I don’t think NVP has had a straight protag yet. Crossroads Stations also make really fun, diverse shows.
Also, so far there’s been no romance whatsoever and I honestly don’t expect any, but Girl In Space is a fantastic show that has helped a whole lot with filling the void left in my heart by Wolf 359. The writing is similarly engaging, the characters are great, and the story has gripped me instantly. The heroine, known only as X, is a scientist living alone on the spaceship that is the only place she’s ever known after her parents’ disappearance, orbiting a strange star called Ra. Then some people arrive who claim to own both the ship and X, and everything gets complicated.
(I also wrote a lesbian ghost romance podcast about the meaning of home and nostalgia and connection and episode 4 comes out Sunday and if you would consider listening I would be very, very happy)

Why You Should Give Yuri A Chance
So I made a reddit post and I’m just gonna dump all the text here and link it so you lovely folks could give it an upvote ;) I’ll link it first and just lol, do a read more thing under it if you’d rather read it on tumblr.
https://www.reddit.com/r/actuallesbians/comments/9paqmt/yall_should_try_reading_yuri_mangamanhwa/
So I've noticed a lot of lesbians and other wlw don't really read yuri manga or manhwa or manhua. And yes those are all different. Manga is Japanese, manhwa is Korean, and manhua is Chinese. There's also Thai yuri but I'm not sure what their comics are called. I have an idea why wlw don't read them and I'll agree with you gals. Yuri is sexualized and does have a bad reputation. BUT, and here's a huge but, it's definitely getting better. I could go into the history of yuri and why it was low-key, even high-key homophobic or sexist back in the day, but it's definitely getting better. If you only know of yuri from anime, then please throw that idea right in the trash. Yuri manga is different, there's actual lesbian authors and just woman authors in general that save the genre.
I guess we can call this my Defense of Yuri. First of all, what yuri do people usually see and what's usually popular? It's stuff like Citrus and NTR that are popularized because they were animated. Also Happy Sugar Life and that new Loli Maid anime that's super gross. These manga are not really serious and end up being gross representations of what lesbians are like. And yet it's what's popular, leading people to believe most yuri is like this. This is wrong. There's a lot of yuri that is not fetishized and are published in yuri exclusive magazines such as Comic Yuri Hime or Yuri Shimai or Tsubomi. They also might just be original doujins that aren't officially published.
This brings me to my second point. Because the popular yuri titles are fetishized and really just paint yuri in a bad light, people wouldn't want to try diving into the genre. And that's the sad part because there are definitely queer authors who are making really good stuff that just isn't seen and supported enough to become popular. Nakatani Nio's Bloom Into You is a better yuri manga about discovering the MC's sexuality that isn't sexualized and is actually a serious work. It's also getting an anime adaptation so hopefully more people will give anime a chance. It's noteworthy that Nakatani Nio is a woman who, while she may not be queer, she actually understands how women think. That's honestly more important since the fetishized yuri tend to be made by men who have no clue.
So basically what I'm trying to get at is that the popular yuri titles are bad examples of what yuri is and can actually be, I'll list some examples of good yuri manga and a few manhwas and manhuas too. Before we go to the examples and recommendations, I just want to make sure that I reiterate that the popular yuri anime ain't shit and honestly you shouldn't really stream them either. Citrus is literally pseudo-incest, NTR is about cheating, Happy Sugar Life is about a pedophilic yandere, and the Loli Maid anime is pedophilic too. So yeah, just don't bother with them, they were definitely not written with women in mind. What you should do is try and support the queer and/or women authors who produce actual good yuri.
1. Tamen de Gushi by Tan Jiu (Chinese): So this one is one I think a lot of lesbians have actually read but this shit is super cute and about those two high school girls figuring out their feelings for each other. Unfortunately because of China's censorship laws, the author isn't allowed to show any explicit or even overt homosexuality in the story but it's still a really nice slice-of-life.
Tumblr media
2. What Does the Fox Say? by Team Gaiji (Korean): Ah yes, another one that is fairly popular with lesbians I think. It's basically a dramatic romance between two office workers that's also a bit of a love triangle. It's very dramatic, kinda like a kdrama, and it's also very much gay. There's explicit gay content and you get invested in the story easily. (VERY NSFW)
Tumblr media
3. Pulse by Ratana Satis (Thai): This is a more racy story about a heart surgeon and her patient haha. So it's definitely very dramatic but also very gay. Like wow it's gay as fuck. And the story itself is interesting and I got heavily invested in the drama too. (ALSO IT'S NSFW)
Tumblr media
4. Collectors by Nishi Uko (Japanese): So this is a gem following the lives of two women who are avid collectors of things, and their relationship together. This is one of those rare ones where they're already together and it's just navigating their day to day lives in a very mature way. It's really nice.
Tumblr media
5. Wife and Wife by Minamoto Hisanari (Japanese): So this is literally what the title says. It's slice of life with two women who married each other and it's their newlywed life. It's super cute and diabetes inducing and gay.
Tumblr media
6. Bright and Cheery Amnesia by Tamamusi (Japanese): This one is a comedy about the trope where your lover gets amnesia but it's super cute because said lover immediately falls in love with you again. Except with two women and the humor is on point.
Tumblr media
7. Strawberry Shake by Hayashiya Shizuru (Japanese): This is also a comedy, even going so far as a gag comedy about two idols and their love story. It's super funny and cute and one of my favorites because I read this when I was like, 15 and still questioning and it really just made me laugh. It was nice having a romantic comedy with a lesbian couple, er, pining lesbian couple.
Tumblr media
8. Cirque Arachne by Saida Nika (Japanese): This is an interesting story about being in a circus and falling in love there. I'm not really sure how to describe it but it's really good.

9. The Love Doctor by Chamsae (Korean): This is a story about a college student consulting a "love doctor" about why she can't get a boyfriend (she doesn't actually feel any attraction to guys *hint* *hint*). And the doctor happens to also be gay oh my. But it's a nice drama that was honestly pretty relatable for me because I completely understood where the MC was coming from. And their relationship does get really cute and like all Korean manhwas, it's very reminiscent of a kdrama.

10. Bloom Into You by Nakatani Nio (Japanese): I already mentioned this story but this is a high school coming of age story. It's navigating the feelings the MC has and how those feelings "bloom." I think it's a very mature take on the typical high school love story and there's even an asexual male side character. I think it was nicely written and you can even buy the printed translated copies if you wanted.

These are just a few recommendations I have so if this post gets a lot of attention, I can make another post of recs that I think are good reads. You can find sites to read these through googling them and adding manga online or something, but most are found on dynasty reader (google it). Oh right, and also it's important to note whether it's Japanese or not because the Japanese ones are the only ones you read from right to left, the others are left to right. As an additional note, if anyone wants me to do like, a history of yuri or something, I can probably do that because god, I read too much. Or if you want more recs haha.

Fic Recs/Writers *updated 09/12/2019
THE LIBRARY IS OPEN DARLING....for some actual reading.
A list of fics/writers I’ve come across that got some of that pretty sweet stuff. And also because I’ve read around too much and can’t remember names or fics to save my life. THE UPDATES MAN!
Warning: Some fics (as will be indicated) are +18/rated M for Mature/take me to church kinda deal
@versigny
I’d say almost all of their stuff is worth a read (whoever your bias may be, they got stories on them), but my personal faves are their vampire au series, some +18 stuff there but majority of the stories are oneshots and drabbles
@honeyedhoseok (I think now @tawnytaehyung)
I’m sure everything they wrote is worth a read from what I’ve read thus far but because of that, I can really only recommend the three fics I actually read.
Series: Besitos (ta!Jimin) rated M for recent developments hoho~
Bruh why is this not reality? Why don’t we get really hot TAs to crush on? It would’ve made my school life hella easier and I’d get that perfect attendance. Jimin is your hottie creative writing TA who you can’t help but crush on (but can anyone blame you) and envious to all, he likes you back too. College au shenanigans, teacher/student dynamic, and dorky wingman ta!Taehyung friend.
Oneshot/drabbles (Crossroad demon!Jimin): Crossroads + Hunted + Captured Part One *NEW + Captured Part Two *NEW
I’d sell my soul to satan if he looks like bs&t!Jimin. You basically make a deal with crossroad demon!Jimin and can’t help but actually grow fond of the supposed devious, soul eating creature of hell.
Series: The Black Book (CEO!Hoseok) rated M
My heart can’t take the drama but it’s still a really good read. CEO!Hoseok may be young and rich but he definitely has some questionable methods of relieving stress, one that you’re all too aware of which makes things super awkward cuz you in love with the man. Does CEO!Hoseok eventually change thanks to you or do old habits die hard and just leave you in a world of hurt? Again if it’s Hoseok he can be the biggest jerkface and I’d still be charmed.
@dovechim
Shorts/Drabbles: the ocean (mermaid!Jimin) + drabble
Because goddammit mermaid!Jimin is cute okay??! (and I love me a good supernatural au of any sort) You’re a ballet dancer going to Busan Arts and stumble upon Jimin chillin’ in the water by the beach. You mistake him as fellow peer but hey he shows up to your class anyways (totally rocks the dance thing) but then as time passes, you find that something is quite...fishy about him.
Series: It’s okay, that’s love (splitpersonality!Jimin)
No not the drama. Okay so a shrink is still involved and that’s played by you and you’ve got water polo player!Jimin who has split personality disorder (he’s scary when he’s angry...) as your patient, except he doesn’t know about this ‘other self’ of his. As if feelings aren’t already making things complicated, imagine accidentally finding yourself rooming with him (along with your other favourite boys).
@hobibliophile
Okay so I might’ve read all of their Jimin stuff and yes. All yes (warning: they’re +18 stuff soooo)
The only other fic I’ve read from them is Ambrosia (M) starring Fallen Angel!Hoseok....I like supernatural au fics alright. Fallen angel or not, Hobi is still super sweet and since this is a series, we don’t know what the reason was and MAJOR CLIFFHANGER!
@jimlingss
Series: Beyond Reach (ghost!Hoseok) ft. Reaper!Namjoon and other ghosties
This shit made me nearly cry five times....FIVE TIMES. I say nearly because I don’t like crying so it took literally all my willpower to not (ended up with a runny nose though). ANGST AS SHIT. Has some triggering stuff involving death so be warned. It’s a good read though....BUT SAD AS HELL (at least it’s completed :’))
One Shot: Head Over Heels to Hell (reverse soulmate!AU, Childhood Friends to Enemies to Lovers! Hoseok x reader)
Oh yes, this was a WILD RIDE. Goddamn it’s like you hate the man but then in the end that shit got me emotional for some reason like djgskh good shit good shit (you have gone through multiple different lives meeting Hoseok, all of which he screws you over somehow but in the end of it all... perhaps things could still work out??)
Series: The Deli Diaries (produce! Jimin x Deli worker!you) fluff, slow-burn
Holy shit this is cute af. It’s so mundane (guess that’s a fair warning??) but just reading the way the relationship develops is just....ahh!!! I want my own cute Jimin who pines after my dumbass TAT
Series: Jungle Park (Workplace Romance AU, Lawyer! Hoseok x New HR Manager!Reader) fluff, slow-burn, slice of life, a little angst **NEW
A long series for those of you who love to read chapter fics! Oh my God this was a thrilling ride of emotions! The pacing is amazing, each chapter you’re hooked on wanting to see more development on the history between these two so it’s worth a read! I love how Hoseok is portrayed here; it’s like a piece of how he would be in real life is put into just another scenario (Also hate how reader is like... relatable in a way where I also majored in HR so...WHERE’S THE OFFICE ROMANCE LIFE TRAIN GONNA HIT ME WITH THAT??)
Three Shot: Magic & Mysteries (Familiar/Hybrid!Jimin x Witch! Reader) fluff, a little angsty, comedy, romance **NEW
A three shot series involving what the title says! Magic! It’s a little adventure tale of our reader who’s a witch struggling to find her place in terms of specialty and overcoming some fears and insecurities with the help of sassy (but secretly cares a lot) Jimin who’s a wizard cursed to be a dog (that looks like Chimmy!) It’s cute and pretty wholesome in my opinion :)
Also an honorable mention from them is the Service Series (it’s fluffier dw) and honestly their other fics are definitely worth a read :D
@7cypher
Oneshot: Devil’s Advocate (devil/demon!Jimin)
Ironic how despite being a devil Jimin is still the sweetest being to exist. Devil!Jimin walks into your life abruptly and worms his way into your heart with his devilishly good looks and sweet charms. It’s hella cute, a slightly angsty ‘defining’ moment that actually had me tearing up a bit??? (I’m a sap for sweet, tender affection like the ones that happened in here okay??) but it all ends well :)
@seokkbuns
I’ve read most of their Hoseok and Jimin stuff but I think all of their fics are worth a read!
@boymeetsweevil
Oneshot: Cover You In Constellations (Hoseok x reader fic)
I’ve read this a while ago but keep coming back to it because oh god this was cute, so domestic and so fluffy like this is the kinda shit I would pull if I had a boyfriend like Hoseok like skdjfskgha. I like the way writer portrays Hoseok because it feels so like what I imagine he would react. Hoseok deserves all the love ;_;
@kittentaegu
Series: My Boss, The Vampire (Vamp!Jimin x reader fic)
Two parts are out so far and I’m loving the premise! New office worker with notoriously hot CEO Park Jimin who has a secret to hide (guess what it is). One day, you find out what it is and so now what?? Things get steamy ;D Also, the title of it is so K-dramaesque and I don’t know! I like the charm it adds to it!
@readyplayerhobi **NEW
Honestly all of their fics are worth a read because they flawlessly combine story building with any kind of genre you can think of. Some are smutty, some of fluffy and some are just downright angsty but you just want to read them all regardless!
@yminie **NEW
Series: Nine-One-One (Detective!Jimin x First Responder! Reader) fluff, angst, romance, old flame au, future smut, and other mature themes!
This is thrilling! In both romantic and story aspects! The base story line is that there’s a serial murderer on the loose who’s been stalking reader and Jimin and his team are on the case about it. They’ve both got romantic history with each other and as old feelings resurfaces, so does the situation as things hit a little too close to home. Obviously with serial murderers involved, there is mentions of death, suicide and well...the warnings there!
A03 Fics
*will be pretty rare on this list; am I the only one who finds it super hard to find good fics on there?
Author: kimtrain
I swear they had a tumblr before since that’s the only reason why I remember them and their fics. Thankfully they’re all there still and all of them are 👌👌👌 Mermaid!Hoseok AU and the Hybrid!AU are my faves.
Fic: Warm Blood by ARMY_BRAT
The one instance where my weakness for supernatural AUs + wanting to read something paid off. MC is an ARMY but also a grim reaper so what happens when BTS shows up on her list, destined to die? Well, she says NOT TODAY but that just throws EVERYTHING out of the loop, leaving her to fix it.
Went into it with a grain of salt (ngl description was...ehh) BUT was pleasantly surprised! Digging the writing style which made MC really likeable so far and the AU strongly reminds me of Goblin: The Lonely God but focusing more on the grim reaper side of things which, personally, I was WAY more interested in even with the drama so yay! :D Glad someone took inspiration from it. Still ongoing and fairly new so dsfajdkas
Fic: Three Pints Full by Valkook **NEW
Woah it’s a vampire/supernatural fic! A little on the mature side because there’s well...blood...a little bit of death mentioned...and smut... BUT a really compelling story! Set mainly as a Cop/Detective! Reader who’s been assigned to solving some mysterious deaths/murders happening in the wild parts Montana joined in with appearances by Hunter/Tracker!Yoongi, Partner!Hoseok and Vampire!Jimin, Jungkook and more!
