okay so… does anyone else see a very clear potential future storyline of adam coming back as a demon and after trying and failing to get revenge against charlie and co. end up as a guest at the hotel in a last ditch attempt to get back into heaven only to become a genuinely better being and happier than he ever was as an angel further blurring the lines between heaven and hell in terms of the morality of the people in them eventually fully cementing himself as a fan favorite himbo by like season 3 or is that just me????

Reader nonchalantly brings up that their being stalked, not quite realizing the weight of their situation. What are the characters going to do about it?

nowadays you always felt like something was wrong. your nomral everyday routine had an addition to it which made you uncomfortable and made you feel vulnerable. it always felt like a pair of eyes were trained onto your figure at every waking minute of the day.

the figure that you regularly saw was definitely new. it was only a handful of times but there was no way that all the times were pure coincidence? right? and why would the figure stop or turn away when you turned to check they were still following you?

after a very short while it started making you really uncomfortable. it felt like you were being constantly watched and you could no longer focus on anything else as it worried you. but truth be told you didn't know what to do. you felt like you should tell someone but you didn't want them to think you were just being paranoid and you didn't think it was that serious, so you shrugged it to the back of your mind and let it slowly eat away atyour conscience.

eventually you let it spill and you told your most trusted friend about your worries. it was an accident to start with, like you were telling a joke, so you came of very nonchalantly but they didn't take it so lightly.

what had started as one of your many friendly catch-ups with yosano had now turned into a very troubling conversation. you and yosano would practically meet everyday if you didn't see eachother throughout and because you both were extremely close you two would often spill secrets or gossip.

when you casually mentioned that you thought you might be being stalked her face dropped immediately. you felt the air tense from the normally friendly atmosphere and you really only registered what you said when she asked you to repeat yourself. that's sort of when you let it all out as you finally felt you had someone to talk to about it.

her face only became visibly more concerned but she would patiently wait for you to finish telling her about every little detail. once you had finished, you felt like a weight had been lifted but immediately replaced as you then realised the situation fully.

yosano noted your current concerns and immediately offered help, help you knew she wouldn't let you refuse. she worked in a detective agency afterall, sure they dealt with more aggressive cases but stalking wouldn't be turned down especially if it was you who was suffering.

she offered to walk you home herself afterwards and that would be the first time in ages you didn't feel those eyes on you. it would also be the last as from the next day you noted that you never felt them again.

you often would talk to akutagawa during or after a mission. he wasn't exactly talkative but you never minded and still found his company rather comforting - some may call you crazy for thinking that. and lately being in his presence made you much more comfortable as it no longer felt like you were being watched.

akutagawa may struggle with many things to do with friendships and such but he wasn't entirely dumb to not notice your recent constant discomfort. he could recognise that something was troubling you, especially when he caught your eyes frantically looking around if you were alone, and so he asked what was wrong - you were being rather distant on the current mission.

you nonchalantly mentioned about your growing discomfort and worry about someone following you constantly, you couldn't tell but his face dropped with a certain seriousness. you didn't realise and so you went to act as everything was normally but he stopped you and asked you to repeat yourself. the seriousness is his voice was something you've never heard.

he eventually got you to explain everything to him and while he didn't show anything on his face, you knew he was mad and that's when the weight of the situation dropped on you. from that day forward akutagawa made it a point to walk you anywhere. you're going home? he'll accompany you, you're heading to the shops? he needs to pick some stuff up anyway.

sometimes it felt overbearing but you knew why he was doing it and eventually after a couple of days he stopped. you really didn't have to ask about why you didn't feel watched anymore, you knew the fate akutagawa had given someone.

fyodor had once told you that you were one of few he would properly engage in conversation with. most of the time that meant you telling him about your day while he chimed in with the occasional hum or question while he worked at his desk - he did barely do physical missions.

you had been busy telling him about something that you'd done that day ehile you were out and so your brain immediately went to talk about how uncomfortable you had been feeling when going anywhere. you hadn't noticed at first but fyodor stopped typing when he asked you to elaborate. what you did notice was him turning to look at you fully when you elaborated.

you let out an awkward laugh and asked if something was wrong and he immediately started asking questions. you didn't quite understand but the seriousness soon became emphasised when he offered that you stay with him that night and you really didn't want to say no after seeing how angry he seemed to be.

you would come to wake up the next morning to a nornal fyodor. he'd greet you and he seemed back to his normal self and if you asked about last night he'd justt deny anything. you would note how for the first time in ages you didn't feel like you were being constantly watched.

if time was available, you would often head round to jouno's residence to see him. it was atleast once a week so it served as a catch-up between the two of you, most of the time he was extremely busy and saw your company as a reminder to finally take a break.

you two would often spend ages talking about whatever thing that had occurred that week and it was a real safespace for you. so it was only natural that you casually mentioned how you always felt watched. you had been fiddling with your cup so you hadn't noticed jouno's face sour.

you only noticed when he asked you to elaborate and you did without second thought. jouno didn't like the fact that you had mentioned it so casually. he was a hunting dog, a morally gray one perhaps but still, he protects people and so he would be failing his duties of he couldn't protect you. it shocked you with how fast jouno was to offer you to stay round his residence that night.

you didn't say no as he seemed very dead set on you staying. when you woke and got ready to leave, he accompanied you back to your residence despite your questions about if he had work to get to. the next time you were to see jouno he seemed rather smug but you immediately told him about how you didn't feel followed anymore he only smiled more and told you that he was glad you felt safe again.

How the fandom generally views Shen Yuan is exactly how his viewd by the people around him in SVSSS. And the thing is that it's a lie crafted for survival. The reason why there was no identity reveal is because doing so would break that illusion. I have always believed that, realistically, everything would have fallen apart if it happened.

Yue Qingyuan would have been as devastated as we, the audience, are at the revelation that his Xiao Jiu has been gone for years. He died without the explanation that he always wanted but was given to a complete stranger wearing his skin. That while people, himself included, noticed something wrong, they didn't bother or care enough to look deeper into it.

The peak lords (who no one can convince me didn't have character development in the background, and learned in detail that SJ was never the vile human scum they thought he was) would be outraged that Shen Yuan took over a position of power that he didn't earn. That he has been enjoying the fruits of someone else's labor for years. Liu Qingge would have felt betrayed the most because of the implication that SY knew about his Qi Deviation and so many other things. He would have been so angry I wouldn't be surprised if he accused SY of causing everything, even the Qi Deviation, to manipulate them all for Luo Binghe's sake.

The political fallout would be devastating for not only Cang Qiong but the entire cultivation world as a whole. Their entire credibility would be shot because someone of a high position was replaced by an entirely different person, and no one noticed for years. There would be noise, especially if Shen Yuan is driven out of Cang Qiong when Yue Qingyuan demands he vacate Shen Jiu's body.

Luo Binghe and Shen Yuan's relationship would slowly fall apart. Their entire relationship is based on lies and manipulation. Finding out that his husband has been lying about his identity for years, and part of the reason why he was treated kindly was due to fear of him would absolutely mess him up. It's driven home when Shen Yuan is finally allowed to be himself, completely and unapologetically, and the reality turns out to be different than what LBH thought it was. Everything that SY has ever done or said would be suspect. There would also be the added pressure of the political fallout because Cang Qiong wants Shen Jiu's body back and the accusations that he himself orchestrated the entire thing for power. Not to mention that there would be whispers about grooming from his own people, and while Luo Binghe defends SY, at first, the more time passes, the more it eats away at him. BingYuan has always been flawed, and the pressure of political crisis and everything falling apart around them would highlight them to the point that they can not be ignored.

Shen Yuan is not trusted, not anymore. In the end, much like the original Shen Qingqiu, he still ends up as the villain of the story. He becomes the imposter who lusted for both power and a child. Every sin that Shen Jiu was accused of are now his to bear. Especially since I doubt the system would have allowed SY to reveal its existence. Airplane would try to help, but the more stress that builds up, the more SY takes it out on him. Until he eventually hits his breaking point with SY, and just decides to leave him alone to deal with it all.

Shen Yuan's Shen Qingqiu is not real, and everything and everyone revolving around it is caught up in the illusion. Bursting that bubble would not be pretty.

yeah i once said Shen Yuan did not become Shen Qingqiu, rather Shen Qingqiu became Shen Yuan. Bingqiu is built on a lie, and some fans genuinely seem to forget that lol. LBH loves Shen Yuan because he believes he's Shen Qingqiu (Jiu).

Luo Binghe has no idea Shen Yuan exists, and realistically he would not react well. With his personality, the idea that the Shizun who picked him on that day during the disciple test, when LBH fell in love, is not in fact dead, and this other person has been pretending to be him, would break him utterly. Like he was ready to destroy the world bc Shen Qingqiu (Jiu) from his perspective, smiled at other people, how would he react to finding out Shen Qingqiu (Jiu) is actually dead? BADLY

There's a reason mxtx, the actual author did not do a reveal, bc she knows it wouldn't work. Like the author couldn't make bingqiu work without a massive lie still hanging over them, it's incredible anyone convinces themselves this is a healthy relationship.

I headcanon their relationship falls apart anyway, even without a reveal, bc there's only so long Shen Yuan can lie to himself and put up with terrible sex and LBHs manchild behaviour. I imagine he logs out at some point and returns to his real life.

Giovanni's boys met many people from the cast much more important than them (Percy, Lorelai, Martin, Arnold, Sylvie, Trixie, Feenie��) while hanging out while wearing their civilian clothes but had no ideas and probably never will unless they talk about it to Giovanni or Molly

Sylvie eventually learns that Giovanni is basically raising Molly and her terrible old life and joins the “Post-POP Molly support squad”

Now he has many more friends and he has no idea how to react to this

He also still has beef with Giovanni. Slightly less than canon and respects him more (they are now basically siblings with a rough relationship but still care about the other), but he still has one. And yet he is weirdly fond of his boys (including Molly)

But he will die before admitting it

Giovanni doesn't even find it insulting or anything (Giovanni VC: “HAHA! So you won't fall to my feet but you will fall to the ones of my minions? That's right!! Admire the PURE RAW POWER my boys hold!! Hehehe…. Soon you will join me too, Sylvester!! It's only a matter of time~”)

Sylvie also lied to the cops to keep Molly safe and keep supporting the whole “me and Molly were Giovanni's hostages” fake excuse stable

Sylvie went on a (play)date with Feenie once mostly because he had no idea how to tell her no and found the binder she made for him way too neat to reject her.

Rick has a secret diary too like Sylvie but it's written in a secret language he and his old friends created to communicate non verbally. And it's either filled with extremely dark and sad thoughts, dumb observations and doodles. If someone was able to read it they would probably cry.

Molly has an automatic aversion to toys after selling them for so long and being literally replaced by them in her own father and sister' life. Before Sylvie knew about her home situation he just assumed she did that to look more mature like him (he actually likes toys)/she did that because she was actually mature and said something along the lines of "Oh! I don't like toys either! We are much more mature than that, hehe ':D!" and she answered by something among the lines of "After being immersed in a world of toys, their utter futility become apparent. They have no love to give to you. They are just pieces of fabric without a heart. They are just masks adults wear to influence how children feel." (That was how Sylvie started to think that there was much more to dig other than "My mom died")

She still enjoys being gifted toys but has a preference have books or cards

Percy talks in her sleep. Not cute sleep-talking or no sensical bubbling who makes you laugh. Instead she mumbles ominous and anxiety-inducing riddles that she has zero memories about when she wakes up. Meryl slept from her once because of work and felt extremely scared by the offputting things Percy mumbled in her sleep.

Rick also sleep talks. He is the one who says nonsensical shit.

Both Naven and Rick have scary good reflexes

Crusher used to be very lonely, shy and coy in his first days as a Blaster and only spoke little and VERY straightforwardly. Some of the other blasters just assumed he was just being passive-aggressive at first.

The feeling changed very quickly after they got closer and now they think he is non-ironically considered the most supportive friend they ever had

He is also more talkative and affectionate, which they are very proud of it

They also proposed "Crusher" while playfully poking at his crush but didn't notice that Giovanni was right behind them listening and just went "Hey Crusher actually sounds cool! He makes you sound like a real badass! Is it okay if it's your official minion nickname, [CRUSHER'S REAL NAME]?"

Crusher.exe stopped working. Please reboot the system.

The rest just burst into laughter the moment Giovanni left and Crusher just stormed off while flustered yelling stuff like "LAUGHT AS MUCH YOU WANT, MY LOVE JUST CALLED ME BADASS! CRUSHER IS OUT!" which just made them laugh even harder

(Warning: Angst) Inspired by an old fic idea I had but Giovanni and Lorelai used to be online friends/penpals before/during the fire. Giovanni slowly saw his friend getting grumpier and more isolated until she had enough and decided to stop being friends. He wanted to help her but didn't have the right words to say that and she refused help.

Do you know when the bear took life when Sylvie used Nightmare Fuel on him he yelled "I should been promoted ages ago!" to him?

The last thing she wrote to him was "I should have blocked you ages ago"

He is technically over that but still thinks about it sometimes

Dragon Age Veilguard thoughts: on companions ‘romancing each other’

The whole thing unfortunately fell flat, at least to me mostly because the mechanic was all in all poorly implemented in Veilguard.

Even Taash and Harding, a relationship I could see happening, was disappointing, and I ended up rolling my eyes or making disgruntled noise during 96% of their 'after' banter.

My main issue is that the writing for these ‘romance scenes’ and their banter tends to be bland and shallow. It feels like there's no effort put into making them make sense. Not to be crass, but they read as though they went through the fandom habit of stripping down characters and ships of their complex layers and leaving them devoid of anything interesting. I just ended up not caring much. The dynamic barely exists, and the way these characters ‘hook up��� reads as ‘you know what would be cute? Taash and Harding’ or ‘you know what would be a classic trauma bond? Neve and Lucanis'. Even Emmerich and Strife - they have so much potential, but both the way in which they are introduced and the way in which the characters get to react to it (Rook included) are superficial and mostly... jokey. I think, in their case, same as with Taash and Harding, it becomes even more frustrating because it could have worked if handled properly.

The game absolutely fails at building these relationships on something meaningful. At best, it shoves them in a trope. At worst, (Neve and Lucanis) it disregards their personalities and journey. And it feels like it's all done in the spirit of 'it's cute to have ships'. For fandom, yeah, that's cute. In an actual story, you need to make it make sense.

Anyway, I have so many thoughts, but I’ll stop the rant here.

I can’t believe I am saying this, but I miss how Dorian and Bull were handled. Even if you don’t vibe with it, their relationship was explored organically through banter: it went from the trills of the flirt, to actual fighting and eventually to overcoming their differences. And not only that but if it wasn’t your jam, it was really easy to avoid, down to the very epilogue.

Ah, siblings. He hates them. Leona is not surprised that your sister cursed you, as he knows family does more harm than good. He is pissed off at your sister, to say the least, and doesn't care what excuse your sister has to curse you. Her actions are unforgivable.

Leona feels a twinge of sympathy for you, especially since you didn't deserve what your sibling did. But he doesn't show you pity, nor does he feel sorry for you because, in his eyes, you are strong. To be able to handle a curse, and that too, one inflicted by a family member, must be pain, both physically and mentally. Leona respects you more than he did before.

Leona is not a fan of you detaching your limbs to play pranks on him or who off, especially not your head. Whenever you do, he blankly stares at you.

Once he learns that the curse is triggered due to stress, he tries to help you maintain your stress, even if he doesn't show it outright.

Are you stressed because you have an overload of homework? Leona will sit next to you and practically tell you all the answers so you can finish the assignments before your stress levels get out of hand. Are your friends stressing you out? He will stand behind you and glare down at them until they shink and run away.

Once you tell Leona about the elixir, he will make sure you take it daily. The last thing he wants is for Crowley to learn about your curse. He doesn't trust the head mage, who is anything but benevolent.

Malleus never told you this, but he had detected the curse on you since he first met you. However, the prince figured he would learn about your curse eventually, so he didn't try to pry any information from you.

However, when he learns the details about your curse, Malleus feels a wide range of emotions, from concern to anger. How could your own blood curse you? He wonders if this kind of occurrence is common among humans.

When he sees your owl beast form, he remains unfazed and finds it fascinating. He is not afraid in the slightest, as Malleus knows if you try to attack him, he has the strength to hold you back.

The prince is very concerned about your ability to detach your limbs. Does it cause you pain physically? He is a bit relieved to know you are not in pain from it, but Malleus still doesn't want you to pull your limbs off, not even as a prank. The only exception is Halloween.

The prince wants to track down your sister to learn why she did this and hold her accountable for causing you pain, but first, he wants to focus on finding a way to help you. All the mages in Briar Valley are attempting to find a way to get rid of your curse and, if you sympathize with the owl beast, a way to save it as well.

Kalim will be taken aback if you tell him about your curse. However, if you don't tell him and accidentally transform into your beast form, Kalim will be shocked. Though, if anyone tries to attack you while you are in that form, he will protect you.

When he learns that your sister is responsible for cursing you, Kalim has difficulty wrapping his mind around it. Just the thought of your own family going against you is devastating to him. He has many siblings, and they all get along well, so he can't fathom there are families in which siblings can be enemies to this point.

Kalim is willing to do anything and everything to help you. You are his s/o, so he is responsible for helping and supporting you through thick and thin.

He also goes out of his way to ensure you are not stressed. If Kalim sees you stressing out, he immediately distracts you with his cuteness, hugs, kisses, or taking you on a magic carpet ride. He also enlists Jamil to help with your stress management.

When Kalim sees your limbs detach, he experiences a wave of emotions. First, shock. Second, discomfort for you, thinking you are in pain. Third, sadness. If you even remotely joke that the detachment causes you pain, it will draw tears to his eyes, as if he was filling the pain himself.

Family members can be...a pain. He understands this, but to think they would go as far as to curse you. Riddle is angered by the thought, but his concern for your well-being overshadows his anger.

He is startled and a bit fearful when he sees you in your owl beast form. Even then, he stands his ground, knowing that he has to help you through this. However, when he sees/learns about your easily detachable limbs, Riddle is creeped out. If you try to detach your limbs in front of him, he will get angry. In fact, he wants to add a rule to the book of rules saying you are not allowed to take detach your limbs.

Like Kalim, Riddle enlists the help of his dorm members when he learns stress is your main trigger. When he is not around, Cater, Ace, Trey, and Deuce are responsible for helping you calm down.

Riddle is relieved that Ace and Deuce are in the same class as you so that they can keep an eye on you to prevent any incidents from happening on campus. Riddle worries that someone on campus might try to use you as a test subject if they learn about your unique curse.

If possible, he even learns how to make the elixirs you drink so that you never run out of them.

On many occasions, Vil feels like you are hiding something from him. Then, he sees you drinking an elixir daily and knows for sure you have a secret. Part of him wants you to tell him when you are comfortable, but the other part knows he needs to know, especially if it could pose a danger to him and the other students.

When he sits down and talks with you, you detach your limb to show him the side effects. Vil immediately grosses you and gets upset with you. NEVER do that again in front of him. Even if it doesn't physically pain you, it hurts him to see your limbs not attached to your torso.

Vil asks another question: Why didn't you tell him about the curse earlier when the two of you started dating? Were you afraid that he would judge or leave you? He assures you he will not leave or judge you for being cursed; if anything, he wants to help you find a way to lift the curse.

The moment Vil learns your sister was the one who cursed you, he sympathizes with you but is angered beyond belief. His need to seek justice kicks in, and Vil's first instinct is to track down your sister and confront her. At some point in the future, with your permission or against your will, he will find your sister and confront her.

Azul already knows you are cursed even before he sees you transform into the owl beast. Once he saw you drinking the elixir, he took a few drops from one bottle to test it. Though he couldn't find what the elixir was for, he found similar ingredients to a recipe in their world that is used to keep curses at bay.

Though he doesn't show it outright, Azul is deeply concerned about you. He doesn't confront you about your curse and waits for you to tell him or for the curse to take effect.

He is not surprised when he learns your sister is responsible for your state. He has firsthand experience in seeing the dark side of people around him. Azul focuses more on finding a cure to your curse rather than the past - for the time being.

He won't admit it out loud, but Azul finds your curse fascinating and wants to learn more about it. Even when he finds a way to separate the owl beast from you, Azul plans to keep the beast alive. Something tells him that you don't want the beast to be harmed, but more than anything, he wants to learn about the creature as there are no creatures like the owl beast in their world.

At first, Azul HATES it when you detach your limbs in front of him. Eventually, he gets used to it, especially with you and Floyd pranking everything with your detached body parts. Even if he walks into his office and finds your head on his desk, Azul will sigh, shake his head, and focus on his work.

Who, out of both DSAF and Dialtown, was your favourite to write and/or create?

It's very hard for me to pick favourites with my characters because I don't tend to give characters a lot of screen-time unless I find a character interesting or fun to write. You've caught me in a talkative mood, so warning, there's an onslaught of text coming!

DSaF: Dave was the most fun to write for, as I remember it. I mean, the guy is the walking personification of chaos and even when he's being constructive (eg, rigging robots to do insane stuff), it's usually in a destructive capacity. Dave will do LITERALLY ANYTHING but contribute to society in meaningful/valuable ways.

In terms of what character-writing I was most 'proud' of, I was also pretty happy with Dr Henry Miller, as a villain. Namely the research he embarked on, described in his logs in DSaF 3 (which the fandom evidently agreed with, as I got really strong feedback on those logs.)

One issue a lot of people (including myself) have with canon William Afton is that he's this kind of mad scientist character but his research doesn't really seem to be... idk, going anywhere? Other than using remnant (soul nectar?) to make kids possess robots, it's kind of a mystery how he got to this point he did from running a bad fast food restaurant. William gets fleshed out motivations in TSE and even then, it mainly revolves around his relationship with Henry Emily, iirc. It's actually pretty accurate to how real serial killers think, imo, but there's a pretty wide berth between this kind of serial killer and becoming a sci-fi fast-food mad scientist... So, I decided to try to bridge that gap.

DSaF Henry's logs actually mention where the idea for his research came from, namely the fact that he existed in a world with normal scientific rules just like ours and seemingly discovered something supernatural, and he approaches it like an amoral scientist would - trying to figure out how to figure out more about the fabric of reality using the newly discovered phenomenon of possession. The 'joy of creation' phrase people pulled from Golden Freddy's phone call in FNaF 1 is given context - Henry is trying to find out what's on the other side (and eventually, how existence itself formed.)

There's other aspects to his character that make him more interesting too, like the implication that his research is partially an excuse for him to act on an underlying sadism (with scenes implying that he inflicts damage on others than can't be justified as assisting with his research.) His background as a dissident/quack laughing-stock scientist (thanks to pushing his soul theory in a best-selling book, which is considered pseudoscience) BEFORE he embarked on his journey to become a fast food tycoon also makes it less farfetch'd that he'd be capable of y'know, harvesting human souls intentionally to continue his research?

I had more for the character on paper that people haven't seen but some of it wasn't revealed due to it feeling a bit too disturbing to publish. None of the contents would've been all that controversial, more just too tonally disturbing when written about in detail (like a omitted part from his backstory/lore post where he managed to pick up a hazy audio of his wife + son's crying from the radio of the car his wife/son drowned in and reacted with genuine elation upon realizing he'd discovered a new scientific phenomenon (as this was the first time Henry witnessed soul-possession.)) Yeah.

I don't feel much of a need to revisit Henry as a character because as a series villain, he was pretty thoroughly-written and he did his job effectively... And his fate was well earned! (He even got an epilogue short-story a few years back, further cementing his fate!)

Dialtown: From the characters/writing that the fandom has seen? Tough to say. I genuinely really like every DT character. Gingi and Mayor Mingus are two of my favourite characters to write for because they're both really insistent and react to adversity in a really comically indignant way. Mingus is more like Gingi than she cares to admit in very specific ways, which is the core hypocrisy of her character - she's one of the most abnormal things IN Dialtown, and spends the game on a quest opposing abnormality that she, herself, can't stand.

Many absolute rulers have debilitating physical and/or mental cruxes and despite that, usually have the final say on what is/isn't okay, often guided by arbitrary preferences. It's funny to remember all of the ancient kings and emperors who dictated how others should act, talk and even think, when very many of them themselves were anything except a good reflection of their own subjects! It's an irony I quite enjoy and leads to a fun character to write for!

My favourite DT writing is probably some of my Callum Crown speech drafts. I have a definite bias here since Crown's character is based on many figures I've encountered in my own reading (and his story relates to topics I enjoy reading about.) A lot of that is real nerd shit that wouldn't be interesting to 99.9% of DT fans (like a long conversation where Crown + Milt discuss a campaign speech Milt wrote for Crown and they bicker about if the wording/arguments used are truly honest.) Again, not super relevant to Dialtown-proper, but it explains a lot about why the world of DT ended up the way it did.

Realistically, the story of Dialtown itself is basically a weird little epilogue to a story that ended decades upon decades ago, centered around a bunch of small-town nobodies circling around the carcass of the last surviving main character of the old story.

I'm also very happy with Gingi's character partially because I know more about Gingi's past/future than you guys do. Gingi has such rotten memory that Gingi's backstory before DT's story begins is basically a complete mystery. Thanks to Gingi never getting close enough to any humans before laying its eggs, there's nobody in Gingi's life that can fill in the gaps. Companionship means so much to Gingi because prior to meeting The Gang, Gingi is aware of a massive and unknown block of time that's a complete mystery precisely because Gingi had nobody in its life. To Gingi, this time was basically akin to being non-sentient or dead, and Gingi would never go back.

While I was making DSaF, I drafted a ton of other stories on paper. I considered making most of them, but decided not to for various reasons, despite getting some solid feedback from collaborators. Bits of almost all of those project ideas made it into DT, with Gingi having traits from several other main characters I prototyped years and years ago. This includes where Gingi came from and what exactly Gingi is. I don't want to mislead people into thinking Gingi is more important than it is, like Gingi is the key to unlocking DT lore (I promise there's a LOT of aimless scuttling/devouring in Gingi's past and relatively little else!) BUT: Of everything from those old scrapped projects, Gingi is what I decided deserved to survive the most. And that has to count for something.

One day I'd love to make sequels to DT and perhaps explore some of the stuff I've described above, like why the hell the world of DT is the way it is or maybe where the hell Gingi spawned from. Thanks

When or how do the ninjas get their suits? I'm thinking Wu gives them them like in the series, do they make them themselves or something completely different, and will there be any suit changes like in the series?

In the series, it was never explicitly stated that Phytor ate his other comrades in the crypt (for obvious reasons) and my question is, did this happen in your version as well and if so, how do the characters react to it, including Phytor (does he feel guilty for it or did he convinced himself that all was the human's fault)?

What are the orientations of the main characters? I'm thinking that in your writings so far you've referred to Cole as gay and Jay has a Bi sticker on his bag. You are correct, they get their first set of suits from Wu! the first set is pretty simple and the ninja all end up "customizing" them in their own way (tying them a certain way, wearing stuff under/on top, pins patches and buttons, cutting off the sleves, stuff like that) eventually when they meet Dareth, he makes all their new fancy custom suits :] After they defeat Chen and his followers, the group all accept their destiony and move into the monastery with lloyd, Wu, and Misako and begin their formal training which is when they get their first color coded suits

Due to my writing style, I do think i'd end up explicitly including darker themes- so yes, Pythor does eat his fellow snakes and it is acknowledged in this version of the world. I think he does feel a little fucked up about it but he's also like, "I did what i had to do to survive. ~ Despite this, Aguri couldn’t help being overly critical, as usual. You thought that other than being a bit crispy, it was almost unnoticeable that the sweets were a bit burnt. But apparently, Aguri had super-tastebuds, because she kept making jabs about them tasting odd. While Sebastian’s face remained stoic, you knew it was getting to him, so you scolded her.

~ You let her know that the sweets were wonderful, and that she was just being picky. You fully expected Alice to try and calm you down, like she usually does. But instead, she calmly added that Aguri should just be grateful for what she got.

~ After that, Aguri kept her mouth shut for the rest of the tea party, and ate the sweets without any fuss. As you were leaving, Alice pulled you aside to her kitchen, where Sebastian had prepared special sweets just for you as a way of thanking you. Alice thanked you as well for showing respect for him.

~ After the show, everyone went back stage to congratulate Makoto on her performance. But, of course, Aguri couldn’t resist pointing out the tiny flaw. Makoto brushed it off, saying it just happens, and she’ll try harder next time. But Aguri kept on teasing.

~ You eventually told her to shut up, and that it wasn’t a big deal. You also said that Makoto already deals with enough criticism, and is aware of her mistakes, so she doesn’t need to hear any from her friends. Makoto became flustered, and tried telling you it was fine, but you continued.

~ Aguri eventually apologized, and left. Makoto thanked you, but said you didn’t need to do that for her. You let her know that Aguri was being unnecessarily mean about it, and that she doesn’t need hate from her own friends. Makoto just blushed, and thanked you again.

So, today’s ask is two-pronged (as I’ve had time to stew in my thoughts after my birthday dinner this evening).

1) On the subject of Kant and Captain… I’ve seen numerous fantastic posts about their unequal power dynamic and the various undertones to their interactions, and I’m wondering (in my depraved mind), what a relationship might have looked like between them (in an alternate universe). Of course, I imagine it would be extremely toxic, unhealthy and damaging, but would serve as a fascinating narrative parallel to Kant/Bison’s potential D/S dynamic. The possibilities are endless, just thinking about how Bison would react, how he might have handled the betrayal reveal differently, had he known exactly what pressure Kant was under, as well as how that would effect how he treats matters such as trust and control going forward. Curious what you’d think on this 👀

2) Less of a question, more of a statement? I just want to say that I both appreciate your lovely responses, as well as your various posts/perspectives for this show. I’ve been rather disappointed by some of the reactions on platforms like TikTok or Twitter (of course not all!), but I’m glad there are people here who have such wonderful nuanced takes. While my asks have been about Kant/Bison in particular, I don’t really have a preference for either pairing when watching the show or reading fic, but the slight skewing of Fadel/Style’s popularity in the fandom makes me all the more thankful that Kant/Bison have great folks willing to dissect their relationship!

on the topic of kant and christ, one of my fave posts about their in-show dynamic is this one that @hurlumerlu wrote in response to my own ask about the ashtray in the captain's office and i highly suggest reading it if you haven't yet! which, i said in my tags when i rbed it that it wouldn't shock me if there HAD been some kind of relationship between them in canon. like, if anything, i feel like we're MEANT to wonder if something happened there or not, because aside from how very stereotypical it is for those kinds of manipulative power dynamics to include a sexual element, the way christ interacts with kant, particularly during the sauna scene with the thigh slap, can imply some things about their past.

however! in a world where that was made more explicit, i think that dynamic would have been sooo incredibly interesting to actually see. especially since with how young kant likely was when he first got caught and the way the captain tends to praise him, i very much picture that their relationship started with christ more as a father figure to the young, fatherless kant. like i think about how kant had essentially had to raise himself once his parents died and how while he always made sure he was there for babe, he never had anyone there for him. the captain absolutely would have exploited that and eventually, as those things go, i think he would have pushed for even more. and kant - what would he have been able to do, say no? to the person that's getting his records clear, that could put him behind bars?

which, i think that in and of itself creates a very interesting parallel. because that just makes me think of how initially when it came to the bdsm stuff, kant wasn't really able to say no then, either. it wasn't bison's fault, obviously, he was the one that was being manipulated in that instance, but kant also didn't have the option to say no also because of christ. he couldn't do anything to risk losing bison's trust. and if i may go back to speculating in terms of this possibly having been a canon thing that happened, it could explain the way kant just... doesn't react to the whole nightmare scene at the beginning of ep4? like i don't think it's out of character for kant, who refers to the fact that he almost drowned in the plane crash his parents died in so lightly, to brush off something traumatic like that as it is, but it would definitely add a layer to the reason kant has such little reaction to it. because he's been in sexual situations he didn't wanna be in before, so this whole thing with bison? nothing new, as far as he's concerned.

though, given who kant is as a character, i wouldn't be surprised if he just didn't feel the need to mention that part to bison because it didn't feel necessary to him (which is why i still feel like it's entirely possible that it might have actually happened in canon, we just don't know about it yet/if we ever will). however, IF he had told bison about it when explaining his reasons for doing everything, i think initially bison would have brushed it off (at least to kant's face) much like he did everything else. i don't think bison was in a place to be believing everything kant was saying when he was explaining himself and if anything he might have even thought kant was just saying that to make bison feel bad.

i DO however think that would have added an INSANE layer to the penguin scene. like, kant having told bison that at one point he felt so pressured and trapped that he had no way of saying no to having sex with someone he didn't want to? bison thinking in his head he was just someone else kant had been forced to have sex with at the hands of the captain? bison thinking kant would have no reason to feel safe with him and like he can trust him? and then kant saying their safe word, with such love and trust, such surety that bison would listen to him? oh yeah. yeah, that's the juicy stuff.

and then well obviously bison would want to kill the captain dead for sure. though i'm sure in canon he kinda wants to do that too sdkfhsdk and i think bison would definitely be a lot more cautious about the bdsm dynamic going forward if he knew something like that happened. which, like i said before, i think there will already be a certain level of caution because of everything, but in the very least as it stands in canon, bison is likely more able to believe that kant does actually want these things, even if there are all these things they've been through that makes him hesitant. but, knowing about kant's less-than-healthy relationship with sex and power dynamics would likely make him just even more hesitant and careful about the whole thing so as not to make kant feel like he has to do anything he doesn't 100% want to, yknow?

as for the second part of your ask, thank you so much 🥺 obviously i love getting to just share my own thoughts and discuss this show in general, so it always makes me very happy to hear when other people appreciate my takes and the things i have to say! especially cause while i don't think of my word as god or anything, i at least take pride in knowing what i'm talking about for the most part because i am actively paying attention to the show, unlike NUMEROUS people who i swear are watching with their eyes closed skdhsdf but i'm glad not to be the only one actually paying attention and that even if we're not a very big portion of the fandom, there's a nice little corner of us that love and adore kb and are very happy to pick their relationship apart sjkfhdksjf thank you for the ask!💙

We see a lot of meta about what Silver thought in the ending of Black Sails, but not nearly as much about how James Flint reacted to that betrayal.

The ending is presented to the audience with Silver's narration, but it tells us a lot.

He disbelieved me. He continued to resist. And corralling him took great effort.

Eventually, Silver tells us that Flint's resistance diminished. He doesn't tell us what "corralling him" required (though I think we can imagine it required either shooting him non-fatally or physically subduing him via use of violence), just that he doesn't know why. So. So far, we have the man who Flint trusted above all - and who he kept his promise to save Madi to AND THEN shot Dooley to protect - betraying. First, in the forest, Silver reveals that he's betraying Flint (and Madi) to end the war. And secondly, he's had his men subdue him in some way that is implied to include great violence.

And then we have the fact that Silver has known Thomas was at that plantation for...how long? Months, presumably. And he said nothing. Put aside the fact that Silver's actions reunite James with Thomas. That's a separate action that does not erase the betrayal.

We see throughout the series that James Flint does not trust easily. Yet in season 3, he consciously lets his walls down and lets Silver in. Throughout seasons 3/4, they are a team and Flint trusts Silver. And when everything goes to hell and Madi is taken, he promises he will get her back and he does. They take down Woodes Rogers. They win a major battle that frees Nassau.

And then his friend, his ally, his partner, tells him that not only is he betraying the war, but he is also throwing James Flint into prison (no matter how kind, it's a prison), and he has known Thomas Hamilton is alive for months, in prison, and he has not not shared this.

Am I too late to the fandom discourse? Did people dive into this screaming when the show first came out? Because I cannot get over the look of heartbreak on Flint's face during the there be dragons speech because he knows that even if Thomas is alive - and at this point for him that's a big if - he had finally dared trust someone, truly trust someone, and just had that trust savaged in the worst way. Did Silver have decent reasons? In Silver's mind, for sure. But Flint? James McGraw? Even if you discount the ending the war, betraying the cause Flint led, you can't discount Silver knowing about Thomas and saying nothing.

(And I can't discount the war. Maybe my background mirrors Flint's too much; maybe I'm too intimately acquainted with the concept of war and fighting and maybe I've led people for too long and feel that responsibility and would not thank someone who "relieved" me of it without my consent or that of those I lead. But Flint was fighting for freedom for so many. His rage had morphed into something greater, and that cause was no longer about nothing left to lose but everything to gain, and that revolution could have been everything for a part of the world that had nothing.)

Details about her Anomaly

Part of her anomaly is a mematic effect that allows people to pronouce its name after hearing fey say it, this persists for up to two hours after leaving either xier immediate vicinity (the room) or eyesight, whichever is larger. Those that interact often with him usually have a recording of geiger counter noises or an actual geiger counter on-hand, as it will react to them.

Fei can also mess around with peoples senses for up to 15 seconds at a time and is a walking soundboard, which is why xi can use xenopronouns. The mematic effect that lets people pronounce her name also lets people """""pronounce""""" xenopronouns, but for a longer period of time.

That being said, she's literally radioactive and needs to take foundation-produced medicine to keep it from getting Out Of Hand (its literally just fuckin Rad-Away like in the fallout games lmao). This makes it hard to sleep and has thus just resorted to staying awake for extremely long periods of time and uses large amounts of caffeine to 'help,' that is until it passes out for more than 24 hours.

Once shi became aware of the fourth wall, it was able to break it and somewhat interact similarly to Deadpool or Gwenpool can.

Basic story

Inspired mainly by the songs 'Hyperdontia' and 'Novacaine' (in specifically that order).

Not being able to sleep easy leads to boredom, especially at night when not very many other people are awake. Unfortunately this lead to the discovery of the fourth wall, which in turn lead to breaking it. He realized that xi was a 'side/background character' and wanted to become more important to the 'fictional' world shi lived in, and thus started ripping traits (similar to how one would rip something onto a disc) from other characters (both within their own world and from others) to apply to itself to become either more pallateable or just more noticable.

Eventually this lead to becoming a fairly popular character in certain parts of viewership/the fandom, but of course it ended up becoming too much. Thier body started rejecting the 'ripped traits' like someone might rejected a transplanted organ, which made the literal radioactivity get worse, among other things. More mental strain was put onto Geiger to keep trying to fix or replace these traits, and eventually the stress made fey snap and she had a psychotic break that made xim rip out every single trait, including a large amount from before they discovered the fourth wall.

He still fucks around with other character traits, but no longer cares about being 'pallateable' to the audience, and hir 'base self' is very different now, including several noticable physical changed

I think alot of people are worried they'll make something you won't like because alot of creators are very stingy about what they're fans can and cannot make. (Not including NSFW or Ai creations)

Alot of fans don't wanna upset or make their favorite creator angry because their fanart doesn't adhere to their rules

Oh yeah, I get it and I appreciate the care. I try to elaborate and break down my perspective because in my experience there's some murky waters you can get into as a creator when you've got a budding community of really excited fans and you're really active engaging with the fan works. I've been through the ringer in that regard, from the ground up, so my approach is based on those years of experience.

I think a fandom of any sort should just be able to fool around and do their thing. While I have things I do and don't love........that shit ain't really my business, and no one should be creating anything on the basis of me seeing or feeling some type of way about their stuff. While the cozy we're all friends/family community vibes are fun and can be awesome, that shit will eventually lead to headaches that I don't want to deal with. That doesn't mean I don't appreciate or am not interested or anything, but I'm very wary of how excitable fans might react if one person gets "attention" and they do not, etc.

Which to a lot of folks might sound silly and like something that doesn't happen. Bubba, I promise you it has, it could, and it will again. Forever. Especially for something as personal and intimate as this particular niche.

90% of folks have always been excellent but the 10% has been nuclear and gross and not a great time. After a few trips around that block, I don't have the time and energy for any of that.

That might be a jarring change of pace for newer followers who might have other experiences and expectations from other communities and junk. Might even look like I'm a dick because I'm not falling over myself to engage with every post, but I've been in the trenches, have had uncomfortable parasocial interactions, have had people get weirdly possessive jealous and intense, have had a long list of shit that I now have very particular personal policies in place to ward off.

Saying all that to say, I don't concern myself with what people are up to so long as they aren't outright stealing shit without credit and passing it off as their own, or doing really obscene shit to harass folks. Otherwise, I think it's healthiest for all parties involved if I'm not stressing over what strangers on the internet want to make and they're not worried they'll upset me.

Obviously every creator is different and your mileage may vary from case to case. Shoutout to the folks who haven't had to deal with that and those who are chill. Perhaps I'm overly cautious at this point but I'm cool with that.

Basically, I get why folks would worry, and I'm trying to make it clear why that ain't a thing around here. It's one thing when people very specifically bring stuff TO me, or ask me something anonymously etc, but if you're just posting? You should be free to do whatever, that's not my business and you should be posting because you're having fun...not wondering what my dumb ass is gonna think about it. 😂
