We're using Azgaar's fantasy map maker to create our innerworld, it's looking good so far.
Had to blur out sections cause it was a bit personal or revealed members who prefer to stay hidden.

System Mapping Question
Hello everyone!
Someone got in contact with us a while back with a question, and asked that we put it to the internet at large.
He wanted to know how other HC-DID systems visually map their systems.
He also wondered how other systems map members, particularly members and programs that don't connect to front/the common fronters.
If you'd like to share how you map your system, send in an ask and we'll post it with the tag #highly complex mapping.

We distinguish between "headspace" and "innerworld"
Headspace we've done in Minetest (free equivalent of Minecraft)
Innerworld we used Tiled Map Editor (free) and free tilesets. It's possible to create your own tilesets too, we just haven't done that yet.
question 58: for systems with innerworlds, do you map it out at all? if so, how?

Apps we use as a system !
Simply plural!
Simply plural is a great app for Systems! it allows you to track who's fronting, add more in depth information about who's fronting, Sort headmates out into groups, it also has a chat function.
Negatives: whilst it is a great app! it is more ideal for Smaller to medium sized Systems or Systems that switch solidly or for longer periods of time, as a bigger system outself, we find it quite difficult to use Sometimes, as it can be difficult for us regrading having to get up and log things.
they are also supportive of endogenic "Systems" and their resources do contain misinformation.
Octocon!
octocon is very similar to simply plural!
you can add headmates, categorise them, it also has a bit directly in discord, so it could be easier for some systems to use! It also has a diary feature! we have less to say about this as we personally don't use it, but it could be helpful for other systems!, it is currently only on andriod but will be releasing on IOS late 2024/2025
we feel that the app is quite clunky and can be difficult to use, especially if your already using apps like simply plural.
they also have a limit on how many alters profiles you can create to "limit the amount of fakers" - to specify direct quote from the official octocon server linked on there website, “the alter limit is to basically protect against ddos attacks, without the limit someone could take up an unreasonable amount of the bots resources and crash it. theres no way to go past it, and nobody so far has gotten close to going past the alter limit as far as we know.” I heard the term fakers being thrown around, I also assume that by “fakers” they mean endo “systems” but still the tone is there and it rubs me the wrong way considering systems that have high high alter counts (such as ourselfs) :)
Notion!
Notion is a great app! we personally dont use it to track our system but we know many Systems that do! it can easily be used for tracking fronts, alters, giving alters journal pages etc! it's very easy to use for beginners and there are many tutorials on YouTube about it! It is also used by a alot of singlets too!
our only criticism is that it isn't built for Systems! So you would need to build it all yourself or use templates if that makes sense which we know for Some Systems could be a struggle!
Mindly
Mindly is a very easy to use app, which is commonly used for making innerworld maps! It's very simply to visualise and understand!
Our negatives for mindly are that there is a limit on how many maps you can make, if you are like us for example and have different layers in your system you wouldn't be able to make multiple maps for those layers, also it is very limited on how you can customise your bubbles, with only the colour, text and emoji
Fortelling
Fortelling is a great app! you can use it to create innerworld maps every easily! being able to include images and in-depth describes also!, we also use it to create split/fussion maps, and you can also use it similarly to Simply plural as you can add in depth information and also custom fields!
Anytype
Anytype is a good app for creating private journal pages for headmates!
It's a great way to allow alters there own private space to express themselves
Our negatives is that it can be quite confusing when you first start using the app, and it could get confusing if you are a bigger System
Twinote
we love twinote! it's such a fun way to communicate with your headmates! the app is very similar to twitter but it's completely private! alters can completely create there own profiles and communicate with each other very easily!, we also know singlets that use it for role playing also! :)
Daylio
We use daylio well daily! it's a great way to track things like switches or Symptoms eta very simply! we also use it for non system related things just like sleep, school, our mood etc!! It's been so helpful for us and our doctors!

apps we use as a system!!!
1) Picrew!
Picrew is an avatar maker with literally thousands upon thousands of different makers!! It has a website (picrew.me) OR an app on google play!!
Pros: It's made completely by users, so it has tons of different art styles!! It's also just really fun ww
Cons: The app can be a bit laggy, and the website has lots of ads for hentai games :(
2) Simply Plural!
It's an app designed for systems!!! SOOO easy to use and the accessible fonts and interface settings are really nice! We use it not just to track fronts but also to increase communication and honestly just allow ourselves to be ourselves.
Pros: Easy interface, you can set it to send notifications to track fronts, no alter limit which is great for polyfrag systems, the chat feature is awesome, and the new custom fields allow us to put in a lot more info
Cons: It supports endos and has misinformation which can be harmful for newly discovered systems trying to learn more about their disorder
3) Mininote
Mininote is a very coquette scrapbook/journaling app! It's really cute and easy to use, plus you can have multiple journals.
Pros: most features are free, with most of the paid ones being just cosmetic. You can customize the journals however you want and even have different passwords on them for different alters, and it lets you have lots of journals. Very simple UI.
Cons: The font might be a bit difficult for some systems to read and it tends to prioritize aesthetics over functionality. It also wasn't designed for systems, so it might have a limit on how many journals one can have. The translation from the app's native language (Chinese) is very patchy and poorly done, so it can be a little difficult to navigate.
4) Twinote
Twinote is very popular among systems! It's basically a Twitter simulator, but the feed and all the user profiles are one account. It still functions mostly the same as Twitter, just only with what you post... like your own personal Twitter!
Pros: Fun to use! It lets you customize EVERYTHING, from the number of followers you have to the likes on any post. Unlimited users, too! It also helps us with our communication and lets us send each other images, whereas the SP chat doesn't.
Cons: Nothing too major. It doesn't give notifications, so you have to manually check for that sort of thing. It's also not made for systems and instead for fun, so the UI is built for singlets.
5) Mindly
Mindly is a mind-mapping and organization tool that we use to map out innerworld!
Pros: Very simple! It's literally just adding and labeling little bubbles! It also allows for layers, which is amazing for polyfrag systems!
Cons: It was built for, you guessed it, singlets. Mind-mapping is, from what I gathered, similar to using a planner, so using the app to LITERALLY map your mind isn't its main purpose. It can also take a while.
6) Matterport
Matterport isa sort of 3d modeling app designed to make schematics of houses and stuff like that. We use it to visually map out our innerworld since we have a hard time visualizing it due to our NVLD!
Pros: It's great for systems trying to create a headspace or who, like us, struggle to maintain it! It's highly customizable and free!
Cons: It was designed for architects and interior designers, making it a bit more difficult to learn. It's 3d modeling app, which can always be hard, and also makes it a bit of a bulky app, which can run down your battery and lag. I believe there's also a lot of paid features, but I may be wrong.

︵⠀ ⟢ NAMES – william, wilbur, jazz, rhapsody, chord
︵⠀ ⟢ AGE – 29
︵⠀ ⟢ PRNS – he/him, it/its, tea/teas, flame/flames, hymn/hymns, ash/ashes, oak/oaks, lantern/lanterns
︵⠀ ⟢ GENDERS – masc-aligned, acadelibre, darkacawritic, soundfireic, caffèan, zymurgyic
︵⠀ ⟢ ORIENTATION – biromantic, asexual
︵⠀ ⟢ ROLES – dadmate, caretaker, soother, memory holder
︵⠀ ⟢ SOURCE – c!wilbur [DSMP]
︵⠀ ⟢ FRONT TRIGGERS –
POS: being asked for advice, comforting or nostalgic music, drawing or painting, being called “dad” or anything similar, seeing anyone that needs help, storytelling, fire crackling, acoustic guitar, l’manberg anthem, c!tommy
NEG: feeling like a failure, being reminded of negative parts of source, younger people being scared of him in any way, being ignored in any way, seeing others hurt, reminders of negative source actions
︵⠀ ⟢ INTERESTS –
LIKES: playing/learning instruments, rainy weather (especially storms), candles, making people laugh, meaningful poems, TNT or dynamite, debating with others, vinyl records, cassette players, taking care of younger headmates, quiet nighttime walks, repairing things
DISLIKES: being treated as unstable, forced apologies, fake forgiveness, being lied to, being left out of important decisions, being mocked or spoken to sarcastically
︵⠀ ⟢ COMMON OUTFITS – O1, O2, O3, O4, O5
︵⠀ ⟢ FAVORITE MUSIC – O1, O2, O3, O4, O5
︵⠀ ⟢ PERSONALITY – he carries himself with warmth edged in weariness. He is a man shaped by mistakes, but fiercely devoted to those he protects. He is passionate, quick-witted, and deeply emotional, with a tendency to overthink and overfeel, though he tries to keep it steady for the sake of the others. as a father figure for other headmates, he’s grounding and emotionally available, always ready to offer quiet comfort, dry humor, or firm guidance when needed. he can be intense, especially when it comes to keeping the system safe, but his intentions are always rooted in love. he remembers everything—both the harm and the healing—and uses it to guide the others through whatever storm they face. he may not always get it right, but he always shows up. (MBTI : INFJ)
︵⠀ ⟢ ROLE/DUTY INFO – as a dadmate, he takes the role seriously, not just with protection, but with presence. he checks in on other headmates without prying, calls them “kid” with a half-smile, and fronts during hard moments even if it wears him down. he doesn't demand respect but he earns it, by always being there when it counts. as a caretaker, he makes sure people eat, sleep, and don’t bottle things up too long. he’s the type to leave a blanket folded nearby right before leaving front or fix something without saying a word about it. he doesn’t fuss, but his quiet acts of care are everywhere, often disguised as casual reminders or dry humor. as a soother, he leans into emotional storms with steady hands and dry wit, grounding others without minimizing what they feel. when someone in the system is spiraling, he’ll sit with them, no pressure to talk—just a solid presence and a soft “i’ve got you.” his calm doesn’t erase the chaos, but it makes it survivable. as a memory holder, he carries everything. he doesn’t just remember events; he remembers how they felt, and who needed what in those moments. he doesn’t dwell in the past, but he refuses to let it be forgotten.
︵⠀ ⟢ INNERWORLD BEHAVIOR – he lives in a small cabin tucked away near the edge of the innerworld. It’s somewhere quiet, just far enough from the center to be peaceful but close enough to respond fast if needed. it smells faintly of smoke, old paper, and earth. the inside’s cluttered with maps of the entire innerworld, notes, a well-worn coat on a chair, and a guitar leaning in the corner. there’s always a kettle on. he keeps to himself unless a headmate needs him. he doesn't hover, but he watches—always aware of who’s slipping, who’s hiding, who’s hurting. when someone shows up at his door, he listens without interrupting, answers without judgment. sometimes he’ll give advice, sometimes just a cup of tea and silence.he doesn’t try to control headspace dynamics, but his presence alone tends to ground things. if emotions run too high or someone’s overwhelmed, he’ll quietly guide them outside, maybe to sit under the trees with him until they can breathe again. most of the others know they can go to him when they don’t know what they need—he’ll figure it out. he’s not warm in a conventional sense, but everything he does is soaked in care. firm, tired, and endlessly dependable.
︵⠀ ⟢ OUTERWORLD BEHAVIOR – he carries himself with quiet control—shoulders tense but steady, expression unreadable unless you know what to look for. he rarely talks unless there’s a reason, and when he does, it’s measured, intentional. he scans environments for threats without thinking, more out of habit than fear. even in calm settings, he stays alert, always a step ahead in case someone else needs to fall back. he handles daily tasks with focus: cleaning up messes, responding to important messages, checking in on the body’s condition, making sure the system isn’t falling apart. he’s not flashy, but he’s efficient. he tends to take over during emotional fallout or external pressure like when someone’s spiraling, when something triggers memory, or when no one else is grounded enough to front safely. in public, he comes off mature, slightly distant, maybe a little intense. he rarely makes small talk but is polite enough when needed. he keeps emotional reactions in check to avoid drawing attention, but you might catch his hands fidgeting or his jaw tightening if he’s holding something in. in private, he plays music, writes things down, or reads old messages as a quiet way to process without getting stuck in his own head. he doesn’t like staying front too long unless necessary, but he’ll never abandon it if someone else isn’t ready. he stays until the job is done. always.
︵⠀ ⟢ EMOJI PROXIES – 🪶, 🪵, 📜, 🕯️, 🧭
︵⠀ ⟢ CREDITS – art = all unknown :(

Apps We Use For Our Systems
Simply Plural: Pretty self explanatory, let's you organize alters and register them. Also let's you track front, and put custom front statuses. It also has a chatting feature, a polls feature, a reminder feature, an analytics feature, and also let's you add friends and see their members!
Plural Kit: Also pretty self explanatory, allows alters to talk with their own (semi) profile. Also can be used to track fronting and organize alters (though we dont utilize those features)
Lighthouse: It's really good for alters who want their own place to write but dont want/cant get a physical notebook and dont want to use the notes app, or dont have any apps that can be locked with a password! Its also good for sorting alters, and has a built in fuse mechanic if alters fuse and the fusion wants to combine the profiles!
Milanote: It's wonderful for mapping out the innerworld! Though you can only put down so much before it makes you pay.. it's still pretty worth it though! It's easy to use and looks REALLY good!
Twinote: Awesome app for alter communication! It's in the style of Twitter (though there are Instagram and a basic messaging app alternatives to the app if you want those more) that let's you easily switch between profiles! It can also allow alters to make posts that they dont want on any actual social media! It also is just.. nice to have an easy way to give alters their OWN social media (even if only accessible to other sysmates) without having to make like 500 emails and verify all the accounts and tediously switch between them all!
Pronouns.CC: Good website to give alters a pronouns page without having to make a whole other account! It's simple and easy to use, and also pretty fun!
Straw Page / Rentry: Grouping these two together because they're similar, but also a bit different. Both are GREAT for giving alters their own websites they can link to that are COMPLETELY free and have no limit (unlike other website making apps such as carrd). Rentry is a bit more tideous to set up in our opinion though because it's use of markdown to import stuff such as images. Also, straw page allows you to layer stuff, and has an anonymous ask box and draw box! Both are super great though!!
Pinterest: Pinterest is super good for collecting images that alters might want to use as faceclaims, or just really like! If a specific alters has a WAY different taste then the rest of the system and you dont want it clogging up the FYP, you can make them a board and then turn off it influencing recommendations!
Picrew: A pretty good way to make what alters look like! It is a lot easier for more humanoid alters compared to other types, but it's still a pretty good app to get a gist of what an alter looks like and possibly give them a pfp!
and uh yeah that's all :3

I think map making software could be handy for plurals with innerworlds that have appearances and layouts but struggle to visualise the space fully.
I think it could help those with aphantasia also.
I think it might also just be really neat.

Innerworld map!
so I’m working on our innerworld map and it’s going well! I think I got the formatting down! The only issue is how tedious it is.😭 because we are a c-did system, so our system is big and complex!
anyways I’m using notion to make our map/guide! And here is how we are doing it for anyone interested:
•I start with a note called innerworld
•inside the innerworld note I put the layers of our system
•inside the layer notes I put information describing that layer! Including links to notes that explain the npcs, plants, alters, and subsystems in that layer
•inside the layer note I make more notes of the places in that layer!
•inside the place notes, I put information about the npcs, plants, alters, subsystems, and of course the places in that place!
•and inside those place notes I make more notes of places and so on and so forth until I get the amount of detail I want!
another thing we do is make another base note called system and put notes inside that called: alters, subsystems, npcs, and plants!
this is where we put information on each alter, Subsys, npc, and types of plants in our system!
we take these notes and link them in the notes for our innerworld that way we can see easily see everything that is there
I hope this makes sense! If you have any questions about it feel free to ask and we can explain more! Also if you wanna see examples of how we do this I can show those! And also if you wanna know the types of information we put in each note I can show that too :D

you wanted more CDD/multiplicity questions/topics and while this isn't the most directly related thing it has been on my mind lately. system mapping. (I know that can be wildly personal and private so all good if you just ignore this :D). have you ever done it? how? has it helped with anything and how? that sort of stuff, and anything else you'd like to say about it.
I've got to be honest -- I've never understood what "system mapping" really means to most, but I know I've done what I think system mapping is.
I've made a "map" of my innerworld and what it looks like. I couldn't get it exact, of course -- my innerworld is a little bit non-euclidean, so hallways don't really connect.
I've also made various charts of which parts I have, roles, etc. My picrew, to me, is a type of system map, since it shows what we look like and who we are. We also made a shipping chart to help us figure out what relationships folks have!
Neither of these things really helped with much; it was moreso done for fun and for memories. It helps in the fact that I can look back and recall what I've done, what I'm doing, how I've been. I also look back at the picrew collage of all of us when I'm struggling to connect to the others when trying to switch. Helps me decide who would be best to reach out to.
I'll provide the innerworld map below, since it seems I still have it! I'll also include an image description. TW for a mention of torture? Nothing explicit, it just mentions it.
[Image Description: An innerworld system map of the Circular System.
There's a round central room with golden fronting circles. There is a brown box in the right of this room labeled "Kids Pavilion." There is a blue box toward the bottom of the room labeled "Debra's Garden (Higher up)." Beside this in blue text, it states "Window shows off the city at night (inaccessible). At the top of this circular room, it states "(Above this entire room) Ve's Cloud Layer."
To the bottom left of the room is a dotted line, leading to a second room titled "Rice's Bedroom." A disclaimer informs readers it is ship themed. There is a label next to the room that states, "Window that shows ocean view."
Two branching hallways lead off of the main circular room which both end in a gray blob. Between these hallways is a disclaimer which states, "These hallways eventually loop back round to each other but there's a lot of rooms between them (pictured above). Above this drawing are five boxes labeled and described. The text inside the boxes is below.
Box One: "Bedrooms! There's an infinite number of them, though not all parts use their rooms. Numb/Curtis, Deb/Sierra/Wade, and Emory have personalized rooms."
Box Two: "The Study. Filled with books, two stories tall, with containers of memories on the shelves. Built with our therapist so that Numb had a room he could feel was his own space."
Box Three: "The Gym. Roy and Avery work out here. They bond over both struggling with having super powers. Roy regularly wrecks the place. We're working on that lol."
Box Four: "The Forest. Octavian brought this with him alongside his pseudomemories. Recently, a cabin appeared here for Wisteria to use when she needs a break! That's really her spot now."
Box Five: "White Room (Discontinued). This has been boarded up for years now. Used to be a trauma-based room for parts to torture themselves (particularly Wade and Curtis)."
