making a list, checking it twice
making a list, checking it twice | Teen and Up | 2.6K | Read here (or below cut)
Another holiday tradition born for the Winchester family.
“I want to write a letter to Santa.” Jack announced to the room, making Dean look up from the book he was reading.
They were in the library, pouring over the copious amounts of books and folders of lore the Men of Letters had stashed upon the shelves — “think of it as spring cleaning” Sam had said to them that morning over breakfast, after suggesting they could be kept occupied by doing some ‘light’ organizing, “but it’s winter, not spring”, and before making himself scarce, fucking off to who knows where, nowhere to be found when the time actually came to clean, “that’s why I said to think of it as spring cleaning, Dean,” came his brother’s ‘matter of fact’ reply, in that particular tone of his (you know the one), and “winter cleaning then,” Castiel supplied afterward, rather unhelpfully, but who was Dean to ever deny the angel anything, especially with that smile on his face, so here he was — and Jack met Dean’s eye, eyes twinkling with a startling amount of determination, as if they’d made an earth shattering revelation just now, one that wasn’t even related to what they were supposed to be doing.
“What was that?” Dean asked, as if he hadn’t heard the kid correctly the first time.
“I’d like to write a letter to Santa. That is what the kids do for Christmas isn’t it?”
“Uh, yeah, guess so,” Dean furrowed his brows, “but we’re not exactly the poster child for what most normal people do for, well, anything really.”
“Hm, true, but I’d still like to write one, if I can.”
“You can do whatever you want, kid, no one is gonna stop you.” Dean said, about to go back to his appraisal of his book, but paused.
“You know you could just tell us what you wanted. For Christmas. You don’t have to write a letter to Santa.”
Jack smiled, and nodded, seemingly undeterred regardless of what Dean had to say about it.
“I know.”
“Alright.” Dean said rather awkwardly, and was to the first to break eye contact.
However, upon looking back down at his book, he found that he couldn’t even read the damn thing anymore, staring at the same grouping of words—of what creature Dean couldn’t even tell you—for some time without taking anything in; he just had to know.
“Jack, why Santa?”
“Why not?” They shrugged, expression earnest, and Dean’s jaw clenched with the force of all his self restraint.
This kid wasn’t very forthcoming, were they? Getting any sort of explanation from them was like pulling teeth.
Of course it wasn’t the kid’s fault, they were just like that, and Dean was no stranger to it, after all, he had years experience with the kid’s father, and normally he didn’t mind it, but there was a time and place for everything, and when you were trying to ask questions (whilst skirting around the glaringly obvious “Santa ain’t real” conversation like it was a marquee sign with blinding, blinking, twinkly lights—Jack was still a kid when it came down to it) it was like stepping through a minefield. You’d think devoting your life to fighting monsters would make shit like this easy.
It did not.
“Sure,” Dean nodded, closing the book he was clearly done with for now, and leaned back in his chair, “but what if…Santa can’t get you what you ask for?”
“You mean if he isn’t real?”
Oh.
Guess it wasn’t that hard after all, Dean thought, unable to stop the look of surprise on his face.
“I wasn’t gonna say that.” He muttered.
“It’s okay, Dean.” Jack chuckled. “But even if he doesn’t, I still want to. Just in case.”
“Just in case…what, exactly?” Dean asked,  brow raised curiously.
“Who’s to say what’s real and what’s not? Belief is about having faith, is it not? People believe in things, because having faith also means having hope. And when one doesn’t hope, it means we’ve given up, which is sad. I don’t like being sad.”
Dean chuckled. “Makes sense.”
“Besides, people might not have proof that the things they believe in exist, but that doesn’t mean they don’t. I’m a nephilim, and I exist. Angels and demons exist. Monsters exist. Many people don’t believe in the supernatural, and yet we’re still real. We hunt monsters for a living.”
“Can’t argue with you there.” Dean agreed, nodding.
“If all this still exists despite that, how can we say if Santa is real or not, either? I choose to believe. I have faith in him, and hope he’ll get my letter. Nothing bad can come from trying.” Jack finished, leaving an impressed Dean speechless.
“Damn, kid. That’s some sound logic.” He managed after a while, with an amazed whistle.
“Thank you.” Jack beamed.
“Alright,” Dean said, quickly shifting gears, “enough of the philosophical, grown up talk, Aristotle, let’s write some letters to Santa.”
“Really?” They asked, sounding hopeful.
And damn if Dean wasn’t just as weak to this kid as he was to Castiel.
“Hell, you said yourself kid. Why the fuck not? And when you’re done, we’ll address it to the North Pole, and I’ll take you to the mailbox.”
Jack nodded. “I’d like that.”
And so, with a clap of his hands, Dean stood up and made his way over to the other side of the table to Jack. They found some paper, and a pen that Dean figured was probably Sam’s, lying around, made easy by the fact that they were already in the library, and put it to good use as they went about writing Jack’s letter to Santa.
The kid’s handwriting was pretty shit, but then again, Dean’s penmanship wasn’t anything to write home about either, and though slightly more legible, it was more authentic if Jack did it—plus Dean didn’t want to reap the nephilim the chance to do it themself. Jack was pretty excited about this, perhaps for some reason beyond Dean’s understanding, but he was young once too, and had been invested in making the holidays both ‘merry and bright’, if not for himself then for Sam, since the absence of their dad had saved John from any and all responsibility to pass the holiday bug around to his sons, so Dean could do this—at the very least—for his own kid. He was there in case Jack needed his help, and that was enough.
When Jack finished, they folded the letter up and put it in an envelope addressed to Santa, just like he promised. And if it helped Jack feel a little more like a normal kid, then that was a success in Dean’s book.
“Hey kid, you all set to go get it delivered?”
“Yes, I think so.” Jack replied with a nod, smiling down at the letter in their hands.
Dean chuckled and reached out, giving their shoulder and friendly pat, and squeezed. “Then let’s make sure Santa gets his letter.”
They headed to the garage and slipped into Baby, her leather cool and smooth, and Dean turned the key into the ignition, sending the kid a wink from across the bench seat as she roared to life. Her rumbling purr never failed to soothe that barely there ache in his soul, that itch he got every once and while, just under his skin. Jack patted her dash with a soft, appreciative smile, and Dean bit his cheek to hide the overwhelming bout of fondness that rattled against the cage of his chest, making his heart thrum in time with Baby’s idling.
“Wanna get some ice cream and hot cocoa after we send your letter?” Dean asked then, unable to help himself, a little bit of that fondness seeping out into the edges of him.
“Can they have the big marshmallows?”
Dean laughed. “I don’t know if anybody does that, but tell you what kid, we can pick up some big marshmallows for our own hot cocoa on the way home.” He said as they pulled out, and though Jack didn’t reply, their resulting grin was answer enough.
Their posts in the library were left abandoned and forgotten.
Jack practically skipped to the mailbox at the post office, and, with Dean by their side, dropped the sealed envelope inside.
“You really think Santa will get it? That the post delivers all the way there?”
Dean shrugged. “I don’t see why not, it’s a place right? And all places get mail. Besides, you could probably deliver it yourself if you wanted to.”
Jack did have wings, that was, they were part angel. They honestly could just fly to the North Pole, and deliver the letter to Santa directly.
Jack looked thoughtful, brows furrowed.
“Oi, don’t get any ideas, kid. You said you wanted to experience this like a normal kid, and regular kids who aren’t nephilim have to wait for the post.” Dean added quickly, eyeing his kid skeptically.
“I know.” Jack said simply, before turning to wave at a woman who was watching them off to the side.
Christ this kid was something else, Dean thought to himself, internally shaking his head with an exasperated fondness, not too unlike the feeling from before.
However, externally, Dean’s hackles raised, and he instinctively stepped closer to Jack, like a mama bear protecting her young from a stranger who, may or may not, be hostile, and/or pose a threat.
“Hi!” Jack chirped, either unaware of Dean’s sudden change in demeanor, or just not commenting on it, in lieu of greeting said stranger. He really needed to teach this kid not to just talk to every random person they met.
“Hello.” She greeted back politely, apparently entirely nonplussed at the big, burly, six foot figure that imposed intimidation behind the kid’s left shoulder.
“Is this your son? Is he sending a letter to Santa?” She asked Dean, who crossed his arms, not backing down just yet.
“My kid, yeah,” he corrected, watching the lady’s face for any tells, “it’s their first time, actually. We never really celebrated Christmas, didn’t have the time between traveling…for work. But they wanted to try something new this year, so.”
“Well then, you have a really great dad.” She said sweetly to Jack, who nodded enthusiastically.
“I do.” They agreed easily, and Dean looked at them, eyes wide in surprise.
They thought he was a great dad? Dean didn’t feel all that great, hell, didn’t think he was even that good, but Jack said it so effortlessly.
“He’s taking me out for ice cream and hot chocolate next!”
“Ooo,” she laughed, a light, bubbly sound that was genuine enough for Dean to finally settle, “you two have fun then. I won’t keep you any longer.”
Before she left, the woman leaned forward and whispered conspiratorially to Jack, in that fake ‘not at all quiet’ way people did when what they were about to say wasn’t actually a secret, “I’m sure Santa will get your letter. You seem like a very sweet kid.”
It took a second for Dean to realize she had answered Jack’s question for him, and they watched her go, Dean only snapping out of it when he felt Jack’s hand slip into his. They were looking up at him with a smile, holy shit this kid was always smiling, but Dean was, once again, weak willed against it, and decided to allow it.
They walked down the street to the diner for their sundaes and hot chocolate—with the mini marshmallows, “they’re just as good as the big ones,” and who was Dean to argue with that logic either—and returned to the bunker later full in more ways than one.
Sam finally returned from wherever sometime later, sputtering about at how nothing had gotten done, but shut up once Jack told him what they did instead, soft on the kid just the same as were they all, had always been from the start, and Dean resolutely ignored the way his brother looked at him for it.
Castiel wasn’t spared from the explanation of their day either, Jack recounting in detail what they did at bedtime, Cas looking rather pleased from where he sat on edge of Jack’s bed, engaged fully, attention rapt despite the childlike, long windedness of it all. He was always amazing at that, paying attention to, and hanging on, your every word. It was one of the reasons why people loved him.
Why Dean loved him.
“Did they tell you what they wished for?” Dean asked when Cas slipped into bed, after tucking Jack in for the night.
“No, they didn’t say.”
“Damn. They were talking for hours. We didn’t even do that much today.” He said, impressed.
Cas chuckled, reaching over to drag his hand along the side of Dean’s face, smiling when he leaned into his palm.
“Maybe not, but it was important to them. They needed to make sure we knew that.”
“They were really excited. Made me believe in Santa.”
“Mm.” Cas hummed, sounding amused.
“Shoulda heard them today Cas, they made some solid points. They’re a smart kid.”
“They are, yes.” Cas agreed.
“You think Santa’ll really get the letter?”
“I don’t know.” He said honestly, and their eyes met. “But I have faith he will.”
Dean grinned. “Yeah. Faith. Funny. They said that too.”
“Seems to be our motto, don’t you think?” Cas mused, happily accepting the answering kiss.
“Think we’ll make this a tradition. Get the whole family in on it. Whatcha think?”
Cas smiled at Dean as he yawned, and the two of them snuggled close together, just as they did every night.
“I think that sounds wonderful.”
———
Dear Santa,
My name is Jack Kline. My mother was Kelly Kline, but she’s in Heaven now, and though I miss her, I know she’s safe and happy there. You know that, don’t you? I can only assume you’re omniscient, if the song is to be believed.
But it’s okay because I have a bigger family now, to fill in the gaps. Though my last name is Kline, I’m a Winchester. But you probably know that too, right?
Anyway, I don’t know if you deliver presents to nephilim, oh yeah I’m a nephilim by the way, but I promise I’ve been good. Did I make it on your list? I hope so, but if I didn’t that’s okay too, I didn’t want much. I already have what I wanted.
But if you’re still in the business of granting wishes, all I wanted to ask for was to bring my family together for Christmas. We don’t really celebrate the holidays, because we’re always busy hunting, but they’ve worried about everyone else long enough that they deserve a break too (plus I think it would be nice to have a normal family Christmas like they do in the hallmark movies Dean secretly enjoys watching).
P.S. Dean is one of my dads!
But yeah, that’s all Santa.
Love,
Jack.
P.P.S. Okay I lied, I know that’s pretty bad, and I’m sorry Santa, but I also really want a snow globe, because I think they’re cool.
———
Dean yawned, still weary from sleep, as he entered the kitchen Christmas morning, and started the coffee pot, leaning against the counter to support his heavy, sleep-addled limbs. It was still early enough that everyone else in the bunker was asleep, giving Dean the chance to make breakfast for his family. And despite his caffeine deprivation, soon to be cured by the glorious pot of bean juice currently brewing, he found himself oddly cheery, a bubbly sort of excitement simmering just beneath the surface.
He poured himself a cup when the machine was done, and, after a long, satisfying gulp of the black, bitter slosh, Dean turned around to start about making their actual breakfast, stopping short when he noticed that, just over there, on the dining table, sat comfortably right in the middle like a centerpiece, was a snow globe, gently falling, sparkling snow over a family and their black car, within.

So Danny is just a bunch of good that takes a humanoid shape, and we've seen him stretch and warp himself. What is sometimes he just leaves bits of himself behind. He has restoration so he can heal himself and others so when he realizes he left a foot behind he just grows a new one.
Batman: We've found more of the meta, 3 left feet all genetically identical, either were dealing with a cloning operation or someone using a regenerative meta as an organ farm. The most recent finds washed up between Gotham and metropolis.
Meanwhile Danny: I've gotta visit Dani more Madrid was beautiful can't wait to show Jazz the photos, tried to land and eats it, Damn it I though I fixed this!
Danny loves his new power- he likes to call it "Play-Boo" as a pun on playdough because it allows him to shift and change his body as he sees fit.
It was hard to mentally change his appearance as his core was tied to his idea of himself. Still, he can make his hair longer at will, shift to a younger or older version of himself, and even slightly change his coloration, though that takes a bit more concentration.
Danny is sadly unable to shape-shift into someone else. He thinks being able to regenerate is an okay trade-off. Especially when Danny accidentally leaves bits of himself behind with his new warping technique.
It's not the kind of warping he would like- seeing as he could only go a few yards from his original spot- but he hopes with time and practice, he will be able to fling himself from one side of the country to the other, much like opening portals.
But unlike the portals, he won't have to step into the ghost zone as a layaway.
One day, he'll be able to think, "Star City!" and bam will be there without having to destabilize his whole body or lose limbs. Or some internal organs. Like his left kidney.
Which was currently somewhere in Gotham as his warping has developed to the point that he can send himself to the area within eyesight, and he had traveled to metropolis in this method instead of flying to try to perfect it.
"Shoot," He grumbles, falling into a booth across from Dani. She had asked that he visit the big city with her, do a few sights, and then the two would fly downstate to check out some national parks.
"Lost something again?" She asks, sipping the soda she had ordered while waiting for him. Dani had been in the city for about three days and had fallen in love with the diner they were eating at.
She insisted they meet up there just so Danny could try some of their roast beef sandwiches. The favorite food of the two siblings.
"My left Kidney." He sighs, patting his side. Thank goodness his Play-Boo allowed him to not feel pain. He hated to have to feel every time he lost one of his body parts. "I need to eat my troubles away until a new one grows back."
"I'm not paying for your meal."
"But Dani! I'm down a kidney!"
She snorts. "It'll grow back by the time we leave, and you know it. But fine, you big baby, I'll pay for lunch. You have to cover the diner."
Satisfied, he lets her call over a waitress who quickly takes their orders and vanishes to the back, where the cook will likely make "the best damn roast beef" for him. He leans back, asking Dani about her travels.
She eagerly starts talking about the local art she has taken pictures of. At one point, her travels had turned into photo albums, documenting everything she saw and experienced.
She made some money this way, selling some of her photos, but mostly, Dani preferred to keep them for herself or the family.
As she talked about the light reflecting on some large News building- the daily planet- and the great lengths she had to go to get close enough to capture the sunlight, the door to the dinner chimed.
Two men in suits ushered in, one wearing a dark blue that seemed far cheaper than the deep black of his companion. Danny instinctively turned towards the sound, but he quickly looked away as the two men found a seat in a booth furthest away from him.
"I met this guy, Jimmy, who promised to have my photos submitted for a junior photographer contest. It's to help promote tourism, so it's based on the "Metropolis' beauty," but first place is five hundred!" Dani eagerly tells him, her eyes sparkling.
"I know you'll win. You'll make a name for yourself in no time as the best photographer of our era." Danny smiles at his little sister. He lowers his voice "Maybe with that money you win we won't have to sell my organs for a while."
She laughs, adding to the joke like it's second nature, "But you're so fun to harvest! Side's it's not like Vlad will allow you to walk away from the operation. He already has two more kidney orders from Gotham waiting for you."
Danny grimces. "I just lost one this morning. Why does he overbook me so much."
"I can do it if you-"
"Not on your life. I can regerate. You can only cry."
Dani kicks him hard in the shin. She waves her coffee spoon at him like a wizard banishing a wand. "Are you calling me a crybaby?"
"Well, I'm not calling you a cry-lady." He laughs as she scoffs. She opens her mouth to say something when her eyes lock with something over his shoulder. Her face closes down at once, hardening into someone who has traveled through the roughest parts of cities and towns.
Danny used to be worried that her instance of traveling alone at such a young age would ruin her childlike wonder and innocence, but he knew it would be worse to keep her at home.
Even with Vlad finally getting the much-needed help, the fact that Dani has existed for two years now didn't mean she was comfortable with being tied down.
Twisting around, he doesn't see anything out of the ordinary. The two men are casually eating their meals by the far window- too far for them to hear, the waitress is sitting behind the counter flipping through a magazine, and the chef can be seen through a little window making something at his gril.
What had alarmed Dani so much?
"We have to go," She hisses in ghost speech, eyes never leaving the man in the blue suit. Was it him? He seems to unthreatening with his big bulky glasses and easy smile. "I don't know why, but I don't like that guy's vibe."
Well, he won't argue with her about her gut feelings. Those were never important to ignore. "Let's take the rest of this to go."
She raises her hand, calling over the waitress, flipping open her wallet to leave enough to cover their bill and leave a generous tip. Danny quickly gathers their food in take-home boxes, keeping his body in front of Dani to block the men's view of her.
He's grateful that he had pulled on his hood, as his ears had gotten cold from the warping. With the fact he never turned around once since they walked in and his trusty hood, his face has been kept hidden from the men.
A small victory.
Hopefully, he won't see them again after this.
"Come on." He tells Dani, as she quickly gathers her stuff. "Vlad is going to have my arms and legs if we late meet him. I don't want to be just a torso again."
"I mean, it's your fault for trying to run away." She sighs. "You know how he gets. At least you didn't have to entertain his guests."
"Yeah laying in a dark room hoping to regrow my limbs is much better than letting those freaks touch me." Danny agrees thinking back to the big gala Vlad had invited them to.
To show goodwill and try to move past their hostility, the Fentons' children- Jazz, Dan, Danny, and Dani- had all agreed to go with him, under the condition that they be on their best behavior.
Danny had been running late due to a ghost attack and had chosen to use his wrapping far past the agreed limitation his parents, and Vlad had set for him.
He got to Vlad's castle but none of his limbs had followed him. Mom had been so outraged by his reckless behavior he's been grounded staying in one of the guest rooms without tv to "think about what could have happened!"
Dad and Vlad had merely nodded to their wife's punishment for their child. (And he was still getting used to the idea of Vlad being married to his parents.)
Jazz, Dan, and Dani were left to the gala, where Jazz had intellectual conversations with college professors Vlad was funding or where Dan was talking up some pretty men and women with a drink in hand, Dani as the youngest was left to affluent old ladies pinching her cheeks and giving her backhand compliments on being a "lady."
The Dannies hated being touched by strangers, and those higher-class old ladies had no concept of personal space.
"Don't worry, I'm almost too old soon." Dani chirps, holding the door open for him. "Soon Vlad will have to find other kids to flaunt in front of rich people."
"That would be the day." The two exit the dinner, switching the conversation to the idea of dessert- deciding to search on their phones a local frozen yogurt place.
Neither notice the two men- one whose fork has crumbled in his grip and another who is clicking away on his phone with a look of outer disgust on his face
"Bruce?"
"I'm already messaging Babs. She's following them with the city cameras as we speak. Don't worry, Clark, this "Vlad" isn't going to get away with it."

DP x DC prompt:
Daniel was seething. It's been a year since he left the league and they've already found him. Well, it was his mother who found him. Not that that was any better but at least it wasn't Grandfather.
It also shouldn't have taken him so long to dispose of those soldiers. They weren't even that capable. Far below his level and yet he struggled. He needed to resume his training soon or else he would become rusty.
He cursed himself for getting too comfortable with civilian life. Not that his life was comfortable, far from actually.
He had been adopted by a pair of mad scientist with no concept of lab safety; and for all the intelligence they had, they couldn't fathom how to properly take care of a child, leaving their daughter to take care of herself and now her newly adopted sibling!
He sighed. He was starting to get angry. He couldn't afford to get angry. Especially not at Jazz. She was only two years older than him and was doing her best. She's also the only good thing in his life right now meaning that he had to cherish her, not break her. (He wouldn't be like his brother)
His mind stayed on Jazz for a while before immediately increasing his speed. He really needed to resume his training. How could he be so slack to forget such a possibility! Daniel desperately hoped that his sister Jazz was okay and that they wouldn't dare.
Entering through his bedroom window he rushed straight to Jazz's bedroom. It was open. She wasn't there.
Daniel started to panic when he heard a muffed scream coming from downstairs. Adrenaline coursed through his veins as he rushed down the stairs and into the kitchen.
In all honesty Daniel expected the worse. To see his sister Jazz dead on the floor, thick red gushing from her neck, the scent of blood in the air. And there was blood, it just wasn't her's.
Daniel always prided himself on having a vivid imagination. It was a great way to escape after an especially hard training session with his brother. But he would have never imagined this.
In the small, laughably suburban kitchen of the Fenton household was a sight to behold. In the air were two mangled bodies, unidentifiable if not for the league's emblem still visible on one of them. And on the wall was a splatter, a rather big one. It wasn't blood. It was too dark to be. But whatever it was was very unlucky.
In the center of the kitchen was Jazz. Her arms were outstretched, burning sigils rotating at the end of each palm. Her eyes glowed a bright icy blue.
Upon noticing him everything stopped. She looked fearful. Tears threatening to come forth.
"Wait I can explain, just don't tell mom or dad! Please!"
Daniel, still a bit shocked but not as much, simply walked into the kitchen towards the cupboard. Taking out a clean towel he unsheathed he sword and began to clean it.
He looked over his shoulder towards Jazz. She didn't look as scared but her eyes still held some fear. So he spoke, making sure the still bloody sword was in veiw.
"I won't tell if you don't." He flashed a grin his tiny fangs peaking out.
Jazz sighed as in the weight of the world was lifted off of her. She looked at him and smiled.
"Mom and Dad aren't going to be back for a while. Wanna help me clean up?"

Killer Croc's little bro was apparently in Gotham.
How did everyone know? Because he was seen physically dragging said older brother out of the sewers and into the nearest cafe.
And Killer Croc was just. So docile??? He was shy, a bit nervous, amused, and was practically harmless. Which wasn't something anyone would have associated with Killer Croc.
And the fact that said little bro can lift him up easily too? What kind of parents did they have for their son to be able to lift up the Killer Croc so easily?
Meanwhile, Jack just doesn't get why everyone reacts negatively to his big brother, it's not like he was a ghost for goodness sake and yea he's working on not being like he was before his son revealed himself to be part ghost, but still.
His brother was still human, just extra.
Why did Jack come to Gotham? He was kinda maybe forced out the house to go and find his brother because he liked talking about him but never actually went out to find him.
Jack and Croc may be half-brothers, yes, but he's still family.
Jack strongarms Killer Croc into not living in, well, the sewers and at his house he bought when he came to Gotham and they both caught up with each other's lives. Jack told Croc about his family, and by extension the shit views he's had on ghost because it was a major part in their family dynamics, and Croc told him about his own life in Gotham.
Minus the more gruesome, parts.
Killer Croc lives with him for a while and notices that he didn't really seem to care for his life. Which is a major no to Croc, who tries to get him to gain some amount of self-preservation, yes he knows that his little bro is more durable than the average human has any right to be but please for the sake of your big bro's heart, please take care of yourself.
Jack is a bit floored by this, and tries to wave it off as a non-issue. But if Jack can strongarm Croc into living with him, then Croc can definitely strongarm Jack into things as well.
Busting through walls is fine, alright. He gets it, it's very fun. But please don't stick random things into your mouth that can kill you, nor follow strangers down an alleyway and shrug off a stabbing (Killer Croc had some choice words and actions for the person who did such a thing.), and please, please practice stranger danger, little bro. Please.
No, he doesn't give two, three, four, five or ten fucking shits if you have microsurgeons in your blood that gives you a superhuman healing factor, you can still feel pain little bro, and stop skipping meals and sleep to work on your inventions! No, you cannot substitute either for energy drinks!
The batfam keep an eye on the two brothers and find it to just be the both of them strongarming the other into healthy behaviors basically. (With a lot of verbal and physical "I love you"'s, the Batfam could NEVER. slash joke teehee.)

Fenton Coded
Tim... Tim just stared.
He...
Huh.
He had once entertained the idea that he wasn't really a Drake, a very long time ago when he overheard his mom and dad arguing and some words were said in the heat of the moment, but to be honest Tim always thought the obvious culprit of anyone being his dad would most likely be Bruce (Bruce even admitted he had a small fling with his mother but that was two years before her marriage)
But before little Tim's curiosity could really take hold on the idea, he had saw on the news Robin performing a Grayson flip and the hint of Tim not being a Drake left his mind. Robin was Dick Grayson! And if he was Robin that had to mean Bruce Wayne was Batman!
Then well... his stalking of the Bats started and the rest became history.
But now, as Tim was staring at his own DNA test, something he never bothered to do until that damned Demon brat wanted to make sure he was ONLY blood son of Bruce (and doing a DNA test something even Bruce never thought of doing due to well… how he was towards Tim during his first months as Robin)
He well…
He kinda needs to find out who this Daniel Jackson Fenton is.
(Tim finds out he isn’t a Drake, but also not a Wayne (because Damian wanted to make sure he was only blood son) but is instead a Fenton)

HOT TAKE
But I like the idea of the phantom world being reincarnated into very unexpected people.
Like I still love the idea of Danny being Martha or Thomas.
Or Dani being another clone, or her being Damian, and Sam being Poison Ivy and or Martha, etc.
But I also like the unhinged nonsense of Sam being a clone in the dc world — ideally Kon, and Dani (or Dan) being Bruce, while Vlad is gasp Thomas Wayne.
HEAR ME OUT
JUST HEAR ME OUT
I just think the idea of Danny finding out that in an alternate world he married a nicer and age appropriate Vlad and had the son the guy has been demanding for so long in their world is hilarious.
The absolute mental breakdown that boy will go through: this is my son, and I love him, look at him go being a hero and kicking ass, but holy fucking Ancients above I fucked VLAD —
And on the other hand, can you imagine Bruce’s reaction? To his alternate mom being a sassy teenage boy, his alternate dad being an older guy ‘preying’ on this kid that absolutely HATES the guy, and being an absolute creep while his alt self **gestures to your choosing** is either a tiny girl menace or the biggest and meanest growling ghost that is BARELY tolerating being in the same space as the living.
But they also hate his alternate dad and would punch him into next week with Mom! Danny.
This man will being going THROUGH IT.

Tim was four days into a sleep deficit so he felt that to say that this predicament was his fault was a bit of a reach.
For it to be his fault he would have had to cognizant of the last 16 hours.
All he wanted to do was take a power nap in the nearest closest durring the Waynetech gala but nooo Bruce had to be taken hostage by the Joker.
So he did what he thought would work best and shoved uncle Clark into the nearest emergency bat storage and told him to suit up.
Maybe he looked a bit more confused than normal but they didn’t need a reporter they needed Batman!
That being said wasn’t uncle Clark supposed to be off-world?
Oh no.
———————
Jack honestly had no clue what was happening for the last six months so when he was told to be Batman he merely just shrugged as the frankly exhausted teen left him to his own.
With his son turning out to be part ghost to the government hunting down his said son and having to move shop halfway across the continent.
This might as well happen.
Grinning like a kid on Christmas, Jack plopped on the finishing touch.
“Oh Danno is not going to believe this!”
Raising a cloaked arm with a flourish Jack struck a pose.
“Alrighty Jack enough messing around! Time to save the party, Fenton style!
Shifting his feet, Jack took a deep breath before smoothing his face the best he could. After all, couldn’t have a smiling Batman! Before walking out the room and taking running leap through the wall to the streets of Gotham before grappling to the nearest building.

I just remembered I sketched this but never finished it lol. So uh, @radiance1 's blob ghost dragon Danny. Y'know he uh, probably either doesn't care or can't remember how to do human forms or disguises. Or at least completely.
Oh well I'm sure Amity Park doesn't care and I'm sure the JL will be fine. Don't mind Henry-the-emotional-support-scientist he is also fine. Or he will be. Once everything stops spinning.
Tumblr media
Honestly remind me to finish this at some point lol.

Ghost Kitten
A/N: I got fascinated with the idea of Danny being Selina's son and then during work this sort of idea formed in my head.
Danny wasn't supposed to know yet. Jack had it all prepared for when Danny would get to learn about this. But this, this was not how Danny was supposed to learn about his origins yet. Jack Fenton wasn't sure how to react, so he ended up possible reacting in the worst way possible if he judged it by the way his sweet little boy was looking at them.
Jack tried to remember where it went wrong. Jazz had come to them, told them Danny wanted to have an important talk. That it was so important that she needed both of them to focus on him seriously. It had worried Maddie and him at first and when they sat down on the couch facing their children they weren't sure what to expect. But then his boy told him about the accident he had in the lap, about how things changed even asking them if they ever noticed how Danny's behaviours changed.
Jack had to admit then, that he hadn't really noticed and it made his mouth taste like dirt. He didn't like where this was going. He saw how his children exchanged a glance and then his sweet boy told them the truth and Jack could feel the horror overtaking his entire mind. The accident had changed Danny even worse.
He couldn't help but remember a term he had last heard long ago before his collage years even. Meta Human. His son had become a Meta human with ghost based powers and had kept it a secret from them for so long. Jack didn't know how to react then and still didn't know now. All he could think about were the horrors he had put his sweet little son through. All the times he had offhandedly said he would tear him apart molecule by molecule. In how much fear did his son have to live until he gathered enough courage to tell them, most likely only because Jazz was there to support him?
Jack didn't want to imagine it anymore. All he wanted was to hug his little boy and tell him that everything would be okay but before he could do anything. Maddie, his until then wonderful, wife told them something in return they had an agreement over when to tell them.
"You're adopted. You are not my child."
Until then Jack had always thought Maddie loved Danny just as much as he did but as he locked at his wife and saw the steely coldness flickering in them with distress. He wasn't so sure anymore. Torn between being angry at Maddie for the first time after so long and wanting to comfort his boy, Jack could do nothing but sat frozen as his beloved family broke apart before his eyes.
Suddenly Maddie and Jazz got into a headed argument, Danny was starting to draw into himself, making himself smaller watching his mother and sister fight. Until Maddie stormed out fo the room. Jazzie gave him a challenging look but Jack didn't know what to say so instead, what he had planned to tell his son when he turned 18 he was going to tell him now.
"Danny you know how we have barely any contact with family from my side? There is a reason behind it. But the important part here is that the only one I do keep sort of contact with is my fourth cousin and even that is nothing more than a couple messages ever few months."
"And what does that have to do with Danny?" Jazz pressed on while his little boy finally got the courage to look up at him.
"Dann-no, I need for you to now that no matter what you are or what I am going to tell you, you are my little boy, my son." Jack did everything he could to stare reassuringly at his boy and smiled once he saw him smile just a little too, he was most likely relieved that he was taking the news better than his mother.
"About 16 year ago, my fourth cousin contacted me out of the blue, till then we had only exchanged a couple of words and theories and projects. But that time was different. She was panicked, unsure and distressed. I don't know the specifics, all she told me was that she had gotten pregnant with a child from a fling who she wasn't sure wanted a relationship with or not and that she couldn't take care of a child in a city as dangerous as where she lived."
Understanding dawned on his daughter's face and Jack smiled fondly, Jazzie-pants had always been a smart cookie. "She didn't want to put the baby into her system, nor let a stranger take care of it. So she asked me and the moment I saw the little baby the first time. I knew he would be my son no matter what or how long she would want for me to take care of him."
Danny blinked wide eyed at Jack as finally his boy also understood what he was telling him. "Technically you are my fifth cousin, but I would prefer for you to stay my son for as long as you want."
He left his children after telling Danny the truth of his origin. Jack new he would love his son no matter what he was or his reaction towards the truth of his origins. Still he hoped this would not tear his family apart and that it would only take a day or two for Maddie to cool off for things to go back to an adjusted normal. Jack mused that he would have to diele back on the ghost ripping comments, he wouldn't want for his little boy to live in fear in their own house.
That what he thought until he saw his wife stewing in their bedroom, muttering about theories and how their boy wasn't their boy. He knew his wife, and dearly loved her. But it was because he knew her that he did the next thing he felt like regretting the next moment.
Danny is no longer safe with us. - J
He didn't get an answer from his cousin and the next morning he knew why. He did expect for her to want to remove Danny from their care, but he did not expect her to visit him with barely any time delay the next day.
All he could do was to stare and watch as Selina appeared on his doorstep with a man that was glaring at him and Jack might have only seen in magazines before, asking if she could meet her boy and how much he had already told Danny about his birth. And when he saw his baby boy's reaction to the two he wanted to do nothing more than hug and cuddle his little boy but once again, he got beaten to it by his fourth cousin.
His poor boy looked so unsure when Selina hugged him that Jack really wanted to take him away again, but he had no other choice, if he wanted to ensure his boy's safety.

of course we'd never get to read / hear it, but i love imagining Jack Seward, with the patience of a saint, teaching Van Helsing how to use his phonograph the same way a child teaches their impatient parent how to use a computer

Mysterious Relations AU
Group Chat: [TwoHalfasMakeaWholeNERD]:
The(Better)Remix:
[Sent Imagine: it was a picture of a painting of two very wealthy adults stood with smiles as their hands were placed on a smiling child, with black hair and blue eyes, between them]
Lol, hey Template we sure you're a Fenton by blood? Cause you're looking very much like a Wayne clone tbh or something!
--
TheOriginal: Firstly WTH THAT'S SO WEIRD. Secondly ELLIE did you sneak into the Wayne's place?! GET OUT BEFORE THEY SEE YOU! We don't need another Fruitloop on our case!
-x-x-
An AU where Ellie travels to Gotham and is just hanging around in human form, got stared at by a lot of the older Gothamites, many of them commenting that she looks like a young female version of Bruce Wayne but with Martha Wayne favoring over Thomas, so being the curious gremlin she is she sneaks into the Wayne Manor (What, like it was hard?) and finds the Wayne family painting.
Ellie being Ellie snaps a picture with her phone and sends it to Danny, jokingly questioning his parentage.
She's so distracted by her messages to Danny she never noticed the elder gentleman standing behind her, ready to ask the young miss if she needed anything.
