We've asked to our spotlighted artist @freethegeekmanto provide an exclusive picture for Brickcentral along with some insights on how he made it, and here's what he have to say:

"For this photo, the scene started with minifigures. I was rummaging through some minifigs I have not used in photos and found these two mean looking Dragon Knights. I knew I wanted to use them right away, they were bald so I found some wigs that matched their facial hair.

Next up was building a scene. I used some rolled up turf for grass and a blue backdrop for the sky. To help place this in medieval times I threw in one of the smaller castle builds I have in my diorama drawer. I've used it a few times recently so I tried to differentiate it by making it a farm.

I added a cow pen and some pigs and sheep. I still didn't have a story though so I added a farmer. Perhaps these mean knights were collecting tax? Nope, that didn't work for me and my scene was also a bit cluttered. I removed all the animals but the cow and that left me with a cleaner scene.

I then saw a large barrel part that I had recently purchased from Bricklink after seeing Fourbrickstall use one in a photo (it's not stealing, it's being inspired 😉). At this point I decided I wanted to have someone hiding from the mean knights using the barrel.

After looking through some more minifigure parts it became obvious that it should be a member of a rival castle faction since that would be an easy visual aid to the story. I then tweaked the scene until I was happy that the story was clear.

My lighting setup is fairly simple but it works for me because I can easily move and tweak things. I use two main LED lamps that are on bendy arms & clamps to light the front and back of my scene. I use smaller LED lights positioned around to fill any gaps and add colour if needed."

Hey I’m new to the LMK fandom, why do so many people ship Sun Wukong and Macaque??

A lot of people like the hurt/comfort potential because of their backstory and because they’re just really good counterparts lol. Macaque even makes a whole play about their past relationship, which is where a lot of that fuel for the ship comes from and the whole “the hero and the warrior were like the sun and the moon” spiel that people love using for shits and giggles. There’s also a really strong enemies to lovers sentiment and i think it’s kinda sweet

Personally, I just really like riffing off the divorced energy. To me, these idiots would rather beat the shit out of each other than make up and I really really eat that up. Not just as a joke, maybe as a way to cope with their feelings like “I want things to go back the way they were but this is all I can do”

I think with s5 properly confirming Wukong and MK's biological relation in terms of their stone, it's been kinda interesting seeing so many people suddenly declare how much they love the two of them as brothers?

Bare with me here, because I'm having difficulty articulating, but it's like... In the early season days, there were a LOT of blatant readings of their relationship as father-son, because season 1 had no mentions MK's parents at all, and season 2 only had him call Pigsy "Dadsy". Since the show never really established who MK's parents were at this stage (only that MK potentially saw Pigsy as one), a lot of people latched onto Wukong for that, because of his mentorship of MK.

Shadowpeach probably also ties into this, in that if there's two guys that they ship, and then a kid they both mentor, there's gonna be an urge to use that kid as their child. I think this likely wasn't as big of a factor, given Macaque's lack of early appearances, but I'm no Shadowpeach expert, so I couldn't say for certain.

But the point is, this is how a lot of people wanted to interpret their relationship, which is all cool. It's a common enough one to latch onto to, especially for the dynamic they have. I think it was an oversimplification of their relationship, but that's an inevitability when you want to stick a complex student-mentor relationship like MK and Wukong's into a single family label.

So I think it's kinda funny that as soon as canon indicates that a brotherly relationship is more accurate, lots of people start seeing it as that in retrospect. Like, obviously there were always people that saw it as that, just as there were people who saw them as uncle and nephew, or not familial at all. But I think there's something interesting to be seen as how people's perception of the same events warps as soon as they have a suggestion to look at it a different way, especially when it's something as nuanced as how to define Wukong and MK's relationship.

Their dynamic is of a teacher who isn't sure how to teach, and a student who worships the very ground that this teacher walks on, because they're the student's hero, only to see that the teacher is just as fallible as they are, and learn to help them, and stand on more equal footing with them in turn.

That's hard to sum up in a single dynamic! Especially as just a single family dynamic, no matter what it is

now, on the previous screenshots— wukong has no circlet. plus, his attire is COMPLETELY different. and that clothing seems familiar, isnt it???

after the journey, he has his fillet removed. cus, yk, changed man and all that jazz !! he could pretty much think better, i guess, mellowed down— and all.

what confuses me is WHAT happened? what happened for him to get all cuckoo brains and go ballistic on macaque???

if it was him during his journey to the west, it would be a lot more reasonable. cus, yknow, back then, wukong was pretty irrational with his decisions. did lots of violence. pretty much pow pow..

but after jttw?

he mellowed down !! yknow, but still a bit..questionable- in a way! but hes mellowed down! he had more insight, wukong was taught and he learned, and from that— he changed

so what happened?

what was so bad that wukong killed macaque?

i mean, theres gotta be a reason— cus if i killed macaque, i wouldnt be happy abt it and wont forgive myself at all. but wukong seems to resent macaque when finally meeting him, it was like bro held some personal grudge

so i ask again, what happened that caused the big fight? that drove wukong to kill macaque?

Supposedly LBD foresaw her destiny, she saw and claimed without a doubt, that she would achieve her perfection.

we all know she wanted that perfect world where nothing bad happens, etc. And that's what she gets. Nothing.

To me then...her preminition, her destiny came true. She's in this "clean slate" state of being, this nothingness where, feasibly, this is the perfection she desired.

I mean the episode is titled Destiny Fulfilled.

An Icy Possession

“Come on… kitty!”

Bai-he jumped, her voice echoing throughout alley they were in, her fingertips just barely grazing Mu. The cursed cat simply gave her a mocking look however, closing his brown eyes as he continued to lay on the metal pipe he was on. Not at all bothering to move even an inch for her.

The 12-year-old huffed, her eye twitching in irritation as she once again tried to grab him, jumping and standing on her tiptoes.

 “You're not making this any easier for me buddy.” She spoke with a hint of desperation; her mother will start to worry if she doesn’t make it home soon.

The ginger feline did move this time just not how she wanted him to. With a long stretch Mu jumped on another piece of pipe that was a foot higher than the last one, almost meeting the wall that alley ended in.

“Really?!” Bai-he yelled in outrage, staring at her precious pet in utter betrayal before slumping her back in defeat with a discontent sigh. The sunlight now disappearing behind the large wall, at this rate she’ll never make it home.

The faint feeling of being watched made the black-haired girl lift her head towards the only exit of the alleyway. Faded whispering coming closer captured her attention, confusion flicking on her face as she saw no one other than her and Mu in the long dark alley.

The freezing chill walking down her spine told her otherwise however.

She swallowed down the lump in her throat as she frantically looked around, spotting a dark blue mist entering the small tight area she was in. The whispers becoming louder as the blue mist creeped closer, a dark chill that seemed to silence any and all noise radiated from the mist giving Bai-he a sense of utter dread.

 Mu hissed as apprehensive fear clawed its way into Bai-he’s heart, slowly taking a step back as the mist inched closer to her. The Whispers practically invading her head while her body shook, her black eyes darting around her to see if there was anywhere, she could escape to.

There wasn’t.

Mu’s back arched as his angry hissing increased a volume; quickly turning tail and ran as fast as he could, climbing the buildings before them. Abandoning Bai-he to the strange glowing mist.

‘Traitor’ she thought bitterly as her back hit the wall, fear increasing tenfold as she had nowhere else to go now. The sound of her heartbeat rang in her ears, hands shaking as she brought them to her chest. Clasping them together as she timidly called out. “He-hello?”

 Then silence…

Confusion once again filtered through her, the whispers vanished and mist halted in its path leaving nothing but the sound of her shaky breaths. Bai-he waited still as a statue for a moment or two before relaxing, releasing a sigh of relief. Good, it as just a fals-

The mist lunged forward, hitting her straight in the chest leaving her no time to react as intense pain blossomed where it hit her.

'Fire! I’m on fire!’

Overwhelming heat spread across her body, whiplashing her at its suddenness and speed.

‘Help!’

Blood and bile rushed in her throat, leaving her incapable of screaming for aid.

'Somebody please!’

Her vision started to blur, something cold and freezing beginning to replace the heat making her knees buckle under her.

‘Help me!’

And then everything went black.

Side eyes the calendar, noticing it's only a few weeks away until it's October. Quickly thinks of a oneshot she can do, glances at Bai-he with an apologetic smile and mischievous glint in her eyes.

"I'm sorry my dear child, your suffering with only be temporary though"

I am slowly getting back into the groove of writing! MAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I decided to make a one shot of when Bai-he was possessed by LBD, i just make do some drapples of her time as LBD's host when i get the time but no promises.

i’m still laughing abt french cinema potentially killing ‘the sex scenes will scar people’ pearl clutchers bc one of my french teachers when i was 16ish showed my class some french movies that were in no way like, centered around anything sexual But they definitely had far more racy shit in them than your average classroom movie would and just casually did not warn anybody about it, and suddenly there was a cut scene with no warning of two characters just fucking vigorously and everybody was silent for a second before we cracked up. I‘ve never been so hyperfixated on a piece of media, without being able to read anything about it. The way every character get‘s flattened like a pancake and forced into a archetype is unreal.

I have like- 5 stories I can read and don‘t really engage with with the fandom in any way.

It‘s all just:

Monkey King is depressed and MK has to mother him and kiss all his boo boo‘s.

Macaque never did anything wrong in his life, it‘s all Wukong‘s fault. He is also secretly a mom.

Red Son‘s parents are still assholes, because parents changing for the better is impossible and children can‘t have decent parental figures I guess.
