I feel like sitcoms from the Golden Age (2000s and early 2010s) would often make too much fun of autistic people. Even the sitcoms that are my favourites, such as Brooklyn Nine Nine and Modern Family are quite harsh (don't get me wrong, they're still some of the greatest ones) and would only have main characters with traits of ADHD (such as Luke and Phil from Modern Family and Jake from B99), which is great, but never autistic ones. Characters with autistic traits would often get made fun for their traits.
What I think Community did waaaay better than any of them is that they have a canonically autistic main character and his autistic traits are embraced. Literally no one makes fun of Abed (the autistic character) except for that 1 time Jeff says he has "Asperger's" as an insult. Other than that none of the main characters ridicule Abed for his autism and treat him with respect and as a regular human being.
What I also like is that they're not acting like Abed hasn't struggled at all. They don't act like autistic people never suffer. Abed still has been bullied. Some people still call him weird and so on. However Abed has found his people. He has his found family that love him and I think it's pretty big and amazing that a show made in 2009 went this far.
Other than that Community also has a character with ADHD traits (Troy, maybe someone else too) and has PLENTY of LGBT+ content. I would definitely recommend it.
(i love community)

Could I request a Luke Dunphy x reader fic? Something cute and simple like they have been together for a while and while at a family barbecue luke and her are talking about the future (thinking they are alone) and the rest of the family hears? Just a whole lot of fluff please 🤧
Future | Luke Dunphy | Modern Family
“So let me get this right…” Luke said, bumping his shoulder into yours. “You want two - no three - dogs and a white picket fence?”
“Don’t forget the wildflowers in the front yard.”
He laughed, glancing over to his family from the porch. “Oh how could I forget. Can you ever forgive me?"
She hummed. "I'll think about it."
----
"They're good together." Clair said, leaning over to whisper to Mitchell. "I remember being like that with Phil."
"Was this before or after you got pregnant with Hayley?" He snarked back.
"Doesn't matter. What matters is that he's happy - and she's happy - therefore we should be happy for them."
Mitchell grabbed his glass and finished it off. "You think that they will last?"
"They better," Jay butted in, "If they last more than a year, I beat Gloria out in our bet."
Claire turned to him. "You bet on Luke's relationship, dad! How could you?"
He laughed, turning away before he looked back. "Phil put five bucks on them getting married.

Modern Family forgot about Luke
As a youngster, he was a chaotic sweety—like the whole thing with Walt. He saw someone who was ostracized and went to make friends with him. That was the Luke they set up, his father's best friend and a fun-loving absolute goofball. I think as he grew up, they didn't know how to write a teenager (and by they I tend to point to the production team, I am hesitant to blame writers for anything because of how dismal the environment is for writers and I know that their choices are subjected to things outside of their control like the production and direction, etc) outside of Haley and make different than Manny. Like Luke had such a distinct personality as a kid (side note- the way they wrote him to be neurodivergent by sighting real symptoms that are also consistent and canonical and then just dropped him, smh) but as he grew up they completely got rid of his personality. Yeah, people change as they mature, but everything that made Luke Luke was struck. What was left was a kind of awkward fluctuation between him being a bump on a log that occasionally makes a comment about boobs and being a part of his dad's storyline. There's no solid consistency because they forgot to give him any personality.
It could have been interesting to show him being/becoming a "Dunphy Man" like his dad and his dad's dad and feeling social pressures from school. I have brothers—I know that teenage boys can go through bump-on-a-log days, but they can also be so silly and goofy like Luke was set up to be. They played around a little bit with him feeling inadequate following his sister and not being book smart, but there was so much more they could have done with that/taken it. It would have been great for the people in his family who were written to be so unnecessarily cruel to him for no reason to see him maturing more like Haley and showing more emotional depth and other forms of emotional and practical intelligence (or even artistic intelligence/talent for that matter, they made him so creative, made him love dancing, gave him a beautiful voice and for what?).
I would also love to see him and Alex work to mend their relationship or grow a relationship at all or just be a character instead of a prop—have him interact with characters he doesn't usually like Gloria, Mitch and Cam. I don't know, but I feel like his whole character was a giant missed opportunity.
Thanks for letting me rant about my hyperfixation. :)

Baby plus Comments meets Horny Boyfriend
Pairing: Luke Dunphy x Girlfriend!reader
Characters: Luke Dunphy, Girlfriend!reader, Manny Delgado, Gloria Delgado-Pritchett, Jay Pritchett, Claire Dunphy, Phil Dunphy, Haley Dunphy, Alex Dunphy, Mitchell Pritchett, Cameron Tucker, Joe Pritchett
Warnings: Fluff, boys being boys, Manny and Luke being idiots, reader being a sweetheart, characters being potentially ooc, Luke gets jealous easily, Luke is a horny little shit, Phil is still the same nonchalant dad and we love him, mentions of Phil trying to do his magic
Word Count: 404
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alex exits the room, and their comments are idiotic per usual. You glance back at the two. "You're both idiots."
Manny nearly gasps, drawing his inner Gloria energy. "I'm offended you would put me in the same category as your boyfriend."
You nearly roll your eyes. "Did either of you notice Joe was in the car with us or outside the door messing with one of your plants?"
Manny and Luke turn to one another, the latter shrugs.
"No, right? That's why Alex was saying those things, not because she's sending mixed signals, it's because your little brother slash young uncle is adorable." You smile, holding your hand out for him. "Come on, baby Joe."
You turn back towards the two once you get the youngin in your arms. "Now, if you'll excuse me, someone needs to clean himself up before his mama comes up here and sees the dirt."
Your boyfriend pouts. "Why does he get your attention?"
You glance back at Luke, "get a baby and maybe you'll be cute."
He smirks, taking a step towards you. "Oh my- Luke no. I'm not going to have a baby with you."
You two turn and see everyone's attention on your conversation. "Oh, great."
"It's not like I made everyone look at us."
You narrow your eyes at him.
"Ay, what happened to Joe?" Gloria asks, seeing how dirty her son is.
"He decided to take a deep dive into one of the plants upstairs. So, I was going to see what I could clean up before determining if he needs a bath yet or not."
"That's so nice of you, thank you."
"Mr. Dunphy?"
"How many times have I told you to call me, Phil?"
"When I'm not mad at your son, we'll talk."
"But your never not mad at him."
You thin your lips, raise your brows, and tilt your head as if to say I told you so.
He sighs, looking up at his son. "Luke?"
The teen avoids making eye contact with anyone.
"He needs to go out and do something with himself."
"Ah, I got it. He needs to practice his magic."
An evil smirk dances across your lips. "Exactly. See you, baby."
"Wait- no." His shoulders slump as your figure disappears into the bathroom.
"Really, Luke? Here of all places?" Claire shakes her head.
He shrugs, "what can I say? She's hot."
Haley and Alex roll their eyes.
