i’m feeling like trying my hand at some headcanon requests! send in some general ideas/prompts and i’ll probably do a bunch for different characters :) definitely for dragon age, but also check out my request posts for other fandoms i vibe with.

Fenris

Definitely very caught off guard. He is speechless and is glad you ran off so you can’t see him trying to hide being flustered. It’s just not something he was expecting.

Does look around to make sure you aren’t being chased or have some “bad guys” going to hurt you.

While he enjoyed the quick kiss, he won’t let the reason for you running be due to some idiots thinking they can hurt you.

Would bring it up to you the next time he saw you, wanting to find out what the hell happened. He’s not upset that you left so suddenly, but does think you should give him a better kiss to make up for it.

Hawke

“Yeah, nice seeing you too!” He’ll yell out after you as you run off. Hawke gets it.

He’s constantly running around helping people around Kirkwall without having time for a break.

Just know that he’s going to gladly follow your example and the next time he sees you. He’s going to give you a kiss and walk off too. Just a little taste of your own medicine.

Maybe it’ll become a game between you two before it becomes passionate making out instead. That’s an outcome he enjoys.

Morrigan

Can't help but make a face. She was in the middle of thinking of something and you came over and distracted her. Instead of continuing to distract her, you just ran off instead.

Seriously will bring it up the next time you go up to her. Just asking if you’re going to run off like a coward again.

She doesn’t mean to be so bitter about it, but you could have stayed to make the time more worthwhile.

She only just got used to physical touching and she realized that she enjoys kissing. So don’t leave her so soon again.

Alistair

He’s still picking up his jaw from the floor. Still feeling the whiplash. You’re Morrigan’s sister??!? After he sees that his ribbing has no effect on you, being that you’re different from your sister and you’re kinda used to it, he lets up a bit. Talking more with you, Darkspawn and doom aside, he likes you. First platonically, and then he has his “oh, Oh!” moment the more he spends time with you. When it gets to your “Hero” moment, he’s a nervous wreck and always looks for you. It’s then that he confesses to you, not wasting any more time in withholding his feelings

Zevran

Flirt mode is on fire!!! At first you think it’s a whole part of his act, but seeing as you can be a bit more in depth, he respects that. And in doing so, you see the softer genuine side to him as well. You both have had a rough go at life, and find comfort in that to each other. Underneath that flirty front, you admire the loyalty from this assassin. Feeling his reciprocated emotions in his kisses.

Leliana

Bless her sweet heart! You click with her the most. She makes you laugh, and even after facing the gruesome events of your lives, you still find that bright spot in life. After becoming the Hero of Ferelden, she rushes up to you (past Alistair and Zevran) for a tight hug and sweet kiss.

Morrigan and the Warden [race not specified] have decided to settle down and raise their son, Keiran, together...

Let it be known, as it currently stands, that I am still taking requests for this one-shot series.

He awoke with a start; breathing heavily while sweat trickled down his brow, neck, and in between his shoulder blades. His heartfelt like the rampaging hove's of a dozen horses- like any moment it would explode in his very chest. But just as it had started, it slowed to a stop with one quick glance around the familiar room. From behind the thick wool curtains, he could just barely hear the chirp's of early morning birds, and he could just barely see from the small gap where the curtain lifted up off the window sill- the soft baby blue of the early morning sky. It couldn't have been any later than 4 in the morning. The man let out a sigh as he laid his head back down on the slightly itchy straw-filled pillows beneath him. And that's when he noticed it.

Upon the realization, the man instantly bolted up but did not have time to fully jump out of bed as the door to the hut creaked open to reveal what he was missing. His lover, who was just the other night lay naked beside him, now stood fully 'clothed' for the day.

I use 'clothed' lightly, though, as this particular woman had an interesting (albeit respectable) opinion on what clothed meant- as she hardly wore anything at all.

"Ah~ Your eyes open. I was not expecting this so soon." Came the woman's low- but smooth- voice as she proceeded to sit at the edge of the bed. Her left arm came to rest on the side of her lover's hip.

"Hey," the man's raspy early morning voice broke out. "Where did you go? I missed you."

She smiled at that, and he realized that her face was bare of her usual makeup- along with her jewelry and shoes. In fact, now that he observed her form: she had only her red cowl top (which hardly covered her breasts, especially without the black bikini top) and a pair of black pants- which he quickly realized was actually his.

"I'm sorry I had to leave you, my love." She answered as she watched him observe her. "Kieran awoke to a bad dream and insisted I read to him."

"Is he asleep?"

"Now he is."

Once more the man sighed and laid back down- running a hand through his locks as he closed his eyes. He felt the bed shift under him as his lover crawled over him to her side of the bed, and he heard the rustle of fabric as she undressed- she insisted on sleeping completely nude, even during the winter months- and he felt her move closer to his form before resting her head on his chest and wrapping a slender arm across his waist.

In response, he shifted slightly to a more comfortable angle before wrapping the arm she lay under around her naked shoulders. Under the pad of his rough fingers, he felt her cool smooth skin and he inhaled her scent: raspberries and lilacs. She let out a content hum as she nuzzled her head closer to him.

And that's how they fell asleep. In each other's gentle touch.

My observations:

I don't tend to often start a fic with dialogue. The one example where I do here is Rites of Passage (a City Elf Origins rewrite), and that's just because I wanted to keep it beginning with Shianni forcing Novhen awake before he was ready. It's a solid establishment of their relationship

Most of these begin with an attempt to set the scene by engaging the senses, whether it be through the smell of smoke or as many visual cues as I can cram in without rambling on too much

There's a good variety of first sentence lengths, but the data seems to lean more towards longer sentences. Probably to cram more descriptions in

Shivunin is right. It's hard to dissect your own writing like this 😅

You know, I absolutely adore playing as a dwarf. I have a heartfelt connection to them. But aside from my personal preference, I find the character development to be wonderful. In Origins, when you play as a noble, my favorite part about the backstory in general is how warden develops. He/she starts as royalty, some wonderful person who very well may absolutely hate being rich. Hates the way they are looked at, but knows no other way. Someone who does their duty unquestioning and loyally. Who thinks of battle as something as simple as dusting the house. Perhaps they are even in a forbidden love with their second. These things: hiding relationships, knowing your death is tangible on any given day be it by darkspawn or relatives, never getting to be seen as a simply normal dwarf, are just a normal part of life. Until everything changes. And you’re thrown into this world that is ever so bright and scary. Something totally different. And you, young warden, are so practiced in the ways you have lived that people often mistake you for being callous. Monotone. Unfazed. They’re not wrong. At this point, it takes a lot to rattle you. But this is your life now. And you must learn.

I love thinking about the various situations Aeducan finds themselves in. Stumbling out of the deep roads barefoot into the wardens, who are visibly shocked, battering you with questions that should have been comforting, only to be so numb and hardened that the only thing you can muster is a very formal “it is good to see you again, Duncan.”

Then, meeting Alistair, watching the conversation with a mage and apparently something to do with these odd human religions and traditions with the most resting bitch face imaginable. As is your habit. You’ve grown accustomed to never showing emotion. Dwarves are accustomed to battle and honor and tradition, not emotion. And Alistair, thinking you’re offended or something and you simply replying with “You must be Alistair.” You didn’t mean to sound so scary, wow.

Then Duncan, briefing you on your joining tasks, and you, switching automatically into army general mode, asking the strategies and alternative solutions should problems arise. Duncan finds himself smiling internally. Your level head will surely balance Alistair’s emotional panic in the future.

On to Morrigan. These humans never cease to amaze you. She has nearly no clothing on. How can she survive a battle? None of this shows on your face of course. The never changing diplomatic hardened expression masks your internalized thoughts. It is at times a blessing, not allowing others to see your confusion and fear and curiousity as you learn this new world.

Battle at first is a bit distracting. You’re caught off guard by the fear and disgust the other recruits show. It’s as if they’ve never seen darkspawn...but wait. They haven’t. And you’re reminded again of your people (of whom will never speak of you again) who have faced these monsters for centuries. You find yourself wondering if these humans had experienced the hug of their mother. Harmless games with their fathers. Bonding with their siblings. You consider your own personal family life. You suppose in your own dwarven ways, your family had been very close. But you know if you were to ever try to explain that to these humans, that your version of bonding with your brothers had been training so harshly and brutally that you had sometimes had to spend days in the medicinal wing, they would think you a monster or a war machine. Perhaps...perhaps that’s what you are.

Then waking up in the hut. A pounding headache and intense body pain. You shift into automatic response. Is my duty completed? Are my men safe? What must be done to finish the assigned task. You walk outside to find Alistair. Who expresses some strange sort of gratitude, for what you don’t understand. You consider that humans take death very personally. Death is not something humans are ready and willing to face at any moment. How strange. You think your face must display some sort of confusion, because you swear you see Alistair give a small sad smile. Almost like he’s pitying you. The very look of it makes your stomach turn. Pity is for the weak.

Then there’s Leliana. The most odd creature you’ve found yourself encountering in this new strange land where the sky seems like it can swallow you. She speaks of some man in the sky. You presume a human. She has tried to explain it to you, but it makes no sense. Your body will one day return to the stone from which it came...but then you think further. Perhaps you won’t be returned to the stone. You’ve been exiled. There is no longer somewhere for you to go after you die. For the first time in your life, dying in battle doesn’t seem like a desirable choice.

Sten, oh Sten. Sten quickly becomes one of your most trusted companions. You and him understand each other. Sten is not blinded by emotion and vengeance. Sten exists. And you can appreciate that. Sten has a purpose. Long ago, you were a lot like Sten. Now, you have no idea of your purpose. This world confuses you. You take each day as it comes. Something you’re not used to and find quite annoying. You do not know what to expect. The one thing you can appreciate though, is duty. Duty you took upon yourself. You pride yourself in it really. For the first time, you are doing something that you chose to do. Something not assigned to you. Something you control. It is comforting, and when you look at the sky and grip your toes into the ground so it doesn’t swallow you, you think of this one piece of your culture that will always stay with you: your duty. Sten helps you realize this. And with Sten, you find yourself talking strategy. In some ways, Sten reminds you of Trian. In other ways, Gorim. You cherish Sten. He is a rock in this strange floating bright world.

Then comes Zevran. One of the first elves you’ve ever spoken to in depth actually. Among the first you’ve ever encountered. You find yourself considering him almost to be charming? The word sounds foul to you. He’s a piss poor rogue. Of this you know. At first you find him rather annoying? Almost angering? A piss poor rogue and an even poorer assassin, he turns his back on his duty immediately. You find his desire to avoid death deplorable. But for some reason, the idea of killing him (for the first time in your life mind you) strikes you as being morally wrong. Why? You weren’t sure. Perhaps it was your vacancy for tendencies of vengeance. You did not even seek to kill Bhelen after all. Bhelen had simply done what any dwarf would’ve, had they been smart enough. Bhelen’s act did not provoke hard feelings. You still loved him even. Your little brother had grown into an outstanding noble and you could not deny that. He had simply beaten you at a game. Once again, if you expressed this opinion to your human companions after they learned your story, they considered you to be insane. Apparently, vengeance is a common thing amongst humans. Humans, you feel, are incapable of accepting that which they do not enjoy. You find this odd. Relating back to Zevran, Zevran is not human. And though he acts nothing like the odd elves from the trees (the first trees you’d ever seen by the way), Zevran is refreshingly morally corrupt. The more you get to know him, the more he reminds you of your people. And this is comforting. He tells you of Antiva. Perhaps you even ask him if he will someday take you there. Maybe there would feel like home. It certainly sounds like the politics are the same. Zevran’s moral instability and cowardice are exactly what makes him so comforting. He makes you feel at home.

Sorry, I suppose those are just some ramblings/drabbles that go through my head when I play as a dwarf. Let me know if you’d like me to write any other background stories. I’ve played them all. The way my brain can spin their personalities and character development affects the way I build each character. I’d love to share more if anyone liked this!

PS: I have played all 3 games. The only backstory I haven’t played so far is the Qunari and it will have to wait because I just upgraded from 360 to One and now I have to buy another inquisition.

How would Morrigan react to her fem s!o getting badly injured from a demon attack ?

She’ll mutter curses under her breath while healing you, calling numerous names that aren’t quite pleasant to be at the end of. Sometimes making snaps of pain to riddle through your body as a lesson to remind yourself to be more careful in the battlefield. But then she’ll watch over they while they sleep, a happy smile on her lips to know that they are alive.

I have a request for dragon age but I'm going to split it into two asks;

So firstly, could i have relationship headcanons for fenris, garrett hawke from dragon age 2, morrigan from origins/inquisition and solas from inquisition with a mage s/o who can shapeshift and likes to take on animal whenever they can. Which is how they managed to avoid being caught by templars... and they absolutely love scritches so they take advantage of peoples love for cute things.

Note(s): I was a bit confused with which Morrigan you wanted me to write for (timeline-wise) so I went with Origins for her.

I also decided to just combine these two requests to make it easier!!

Fenris

Fenris is pretty wary of magic no matter how controlled it may be. So you shapeshifting does have him wondering.

He just likes you as you and doesn't like the idea of you possibly losing yourself to the animal you become. So for his sake, please don't become an animal when he's around because he doesn't like it.

Is very wary with the thought of you becoming a High Dragon. Yes, it's useful when you help out, but again what if you lose yourself to the dragon? 

What if he ends up having to cut you down at some point because you can't tell ally from enemy? Promise him you'll be okay all you want, magic is untrustworthy in his mind.

Garrett

Has very mixed emotions about this. Sure, it's cool that you can shapeshift into various animals. 

But he wants his S/O. What if he wants cuddles and kisses? He can't have that if you're a mabari, that's weird.

Is lowkey jealous that you can become a dragon. I mean first Flemeth and now you? He would like to be come a dragon, please and thank you.

Absolutely uses the fact you can become a dragon as a way to threaten or intimidate people. Someone doesn't listen to him or tries to start a fight? Well he has a dragon so you better rethink that!

Morrigan

Much prefers the company of animals to people so she is appreciative that you seem to have the same mind as her on this matter.

Would gladly become a spider with you and just hang out in a forest. Or maybe see if you both can scare Alistair as giant spiders. Now that is an amusing thought.

Becomes very wary with you becoming a High Dragon. 

That is very powerful magic that her mother has and she can't help but wonder if you were sent by her to keep an eye on Morrigan.

Solas

Solas much prefers spirits to people, so he understands the appeal of becoming an animal instead of a person.

Likes to hear about your adventures as the animal and what instincts you may have had. In return, he gladly speaks of his spirit friends and different things in the fade.

Is very impressed with the fact that you can become a High Dragon, but he can't help but be a tad worried. 

There are a few on the team that like the idea of killing dragons and so he would hate for someone to aim an attack at you on accident.

4. Do you regret getting involved in any fandoms?

Probably when I was a teenager, like tumblr pre-2018 was a hell hole. A wonderful, filled with content hell hole, but dear god it was still a hell hole. At least on my end.

UHHHH, I haven't really written for many other fandoms besides Arcane and Star Wars but here are some OTPs from fandoms I like in no order besides me remembering them

World of Warcraft: Tyrande/Malfurion, Jania/Slyvanas (there's some good fics out there rip), Jania/Tyrande (I just wanna see her happy in the arms of a lady love), Vol'jin/Tyrathan Khort, Slyvanas/Nathanos (but only from Makaniart's art, that's the entire reason for my shipping of that), Wrathion/My Pussy, also Vol'jin/My pussy

For any fandom my number one NOTP is:

Arthas x Jania or Thrall x Jania. if she wanted a man she'd have a man, simple.

For Arcane, any Proshipping ones, and I'm not the biggest Ca!tv! fan (I will write about them being together because I do like them it's more like Riot held them back and you can tell, and it makes me sad. I don't feel like they got enough confirmation for people's reactions if that makes sense? Like if the genders were reversed, we'd be talking about the biggest queer baiting in history, because they don't even kiss in the show or get confirmed as a couple. And I want it to be, but I hate riot tip toeing around it. Having their cake and eating it too kinda shit.)

Again, thank you all for all your support!  You are all amazing and I truly cannot thank you enough for helping me get this far.  It’s certainly a milestone that I never thought I’d see.
