There's this thing about associating a woman with a man. Whatever happens, there is like a transference of hate to the woman and love to the man.

Men already get less hate doing something worse than women and more love when doing something minimally decent. The way the narratives are framed on the show don't help.

The choice to - make Maya give Beckett the bottle shifted the blame to her, absolving him. Somehow to some, she became the worst person on the show and whatever she did was her personal unique moral failings. Beckett's long list of poor choices made throughout his captaincy that endangered himself, his team n civilians... The resolution was merely his voluntary stint at rehab. Oh and quietly demoted. No mention of his wrongdoings again. Everyone's just fine with him already. Just like how they accepted his bad behavior right from the start.

The choice to - make Vic to not notice maya's distress and say those words about her, a longtime friend and teammate while being hyper aware of Beckett's state and being especially empathetic towards him.

I hope the speculation isn't true. It'll be a disservice to Vic as a character. It's the use of a well-liked female character to redeem a disliked male character.

On a show where already

... the men don't really need to work on themselves - the characters around them simply lower their standards to accommodate.

... toxic masculinity is conflated with addiction/ mental health issues,

... the men's addiction and wrongdoings - related or not to the addiction, are systemic issues - of the healthcare system failing Sullivan or an inter-generational alcohol problem trapping Beckett

I'm all for the empathy for the struggle with addiction n underlying issues but against using them as excuses to not hold people accountable for bad behavior.

Toji the big buff and muscular man. The man who makes everyone turns away, scared to even look him in the eyes when you two walk the streets the together. You scoff as you turn to him, momentarily forgetting about the spider. “You’re telling me that you can kill people for a living but you can’t kill a damn spider!?!”

“It’s different.”

“How?”

“It just is. I don’t know what kind of disease or illness that thing is carrying. No thank you.”

“So you’ll get some random man’s blood on you but you won’t kill a spider for the love of your life?”

“Now you’re just making me seem like an asshole.”

“Cause you are. You got all that muscle for what? If you can’t kill a simple spider then- Toji…. Where did it go?”

His eyes follow your gaze to the now empty corner. “Oh fuck no.. nah I’m out baby.” He immediately leaves the room, leaving you alone.

His big hand was snaked around your waist, as bright flashes danced before you. You and your husband Toto stood on a stunning carpet while being photographed for the press. The FIA had planned an extravagant Gala Event for all the Formula One associates.

He opened the passenger door for you, before hopping behind the steering wheel. He glanced over at you, still smiling like a schoolboy. The Austrian slowly snuck a hand on your thigh, making small talk with you, as the car swiftly rushed through the lit-up city streets. It didn’t feel overwhelmingly lit like New York, but homier and more romantic. The windows of the car were fully open, and the wind played through his dark hair.

The moon hung in the sky like a sweet melody and its light accentuated Toto’s sharp features, his eyes seemed to shimmer with adoration.

Once you arrived at the restaurant a smell of delicious stone oven pizza hit you. The walls of the restaurant consisted almost fully of big, beautiful windows and on the inside, there were stunning Bordeaux red curtains. There were various nicely dressed couples sitting on the terrace, while sipping coffee or chatting the night away.

Your lovely partner pulled you inside, checking the reservation with the hostess. She was a short, sweet looking woman with curly blonde hair. The lady then guided you two towards a table next to one of the big windows, telling you that your server would be with you shortly. Toto gripped your hand with his bigger one, giving you a gentle kiss on the knuckles.

“I love you, Schatz”, a sweet grin spread across his face as you chuckled.

Aki isn’t one to talk much, but around you it’s almost like his mouth has a mind of its own. He feels like he can talk about anything and everything with you, and hopes that you feel the same way around him. 

Was very much an old man in his past life. Quite geriatric, to be honest. Goes to bed early, doesn’t upgrade his phone, reads physical newspapers in this day and age. You’ll have to live with the fact that you’re dating a grandpa </3

Aki is very, very responsible. Is always punctual, schedules appointments without needing a reminder, knows his way around legal documents and just navigating everyday life. (Though it probably has to do with the fact he’s an old man incarnate)

He doesn’t mind if he has to do things for you, either. He welcomes it, even. He likes feeling needed by you. 

Aside from cooking and driving, I imagine Aki being a somewhat proficient photographer. He has a bunch of cash to blow from being in public safety, and although he has very few vices to spend his salary on, he decided to indulge on a quality camera with the appropriate accessories

It started off small, driving to random spots on his days off and shooting pics. He was definitely more of a scenic photographer before he met you. 

Now that you’re together, you’re almost always the focus of his masterpieces. It’s almost endearing, actually, the way he asks if you’d allow him to take you out on a photoshoot date. Sometimes, he has a specific theme in mind, so he’ll buy the props he needs (including your outfits).

He’s literally starstruck every time he sees you in front of a camera. If you’re shy, he’ll encourage you until you feel more comfortable to pose the way he needs you to.

He especially likes the candid pictures he takes of you— you laughing, looking out in the distance at the view, trying a new dish at a new date spot he took you to, etc. He has a separate folder on his laptop dedicated to pictures of you, and he looks back at them whenever he’s missing you a little extra.

I’m sure this has been established already, but Aki’s love language = acts of service. He’ll do anything and everything for you, you don’t even have to ask (most of the time).

Aki is a very observant lover, to the point where he knows you better than the back of his own hand. He seems to know what you want and when you need it. And he loves being the person to give you everything. 

Speaking of giving you everything, Aki is very much fine with you spending his paycheck. He’s never felt the need to spend much on himself aside from essentials, and he has a good amount of savings for you to shop your little heart out and then some.
