Every now and again, Tim breaks things.

Not as in he accidentally snaps a pencil or messes up when fixing a grapple, though that does happen, when Tim breaks things on purpose it’s… a lot.

It started when he was a kid the first time his parents canceled his birthday after an opportunity came up in Dubai and they wanted to stay longer. Tim was seven and at that point his birthday was the only day in the whole year that he could be sure they would be home.

At first he stood in his room two days before his birthday with silent tears as he processed what he had just heard told via a short phone call.

Then he just… lashed out.

Tim banged on his door and screamed like a banshee before ripping hooks of his shelf and throwing them at the walls and leaving dents. He yanked on his closet door till it creaked and broke one hinge and then took a pencil and stabbed it into his pillow.

He cried himself to sleep and upon waking up to his nanny arriving in the afternoon he panicked and quickly cleaned up the mess he had made.

Tim was ahed of himself for getting so emotional and making a mess, feeling like the child he was but more importantly he felt so very out of control.

He ignored the part of him that felt better after causing a little chaos and putting his anger outwards. A relief and high of a sort when he gave into an anger he hadn’t really felt before.

So, after that he decided that if he was really, really, really upset and he couldn’t get his blood to stop pumping so quickly, couldn’t get rid of that overpowering urge to hit and thrash and throw, he could do so as long as no one saw.

It happens again when Jason dies and Thai tiem he throws his camera out the window, which then makes him sob as he still had photos of his beloved Robin inside and also panic because how the hell was he supposed to fix a window without his parents noticing?

He does it a few times when he’s training to be Robin, to the point he tries to use a punching bag but when he found that the lack of damage being done left him feeling worse, he may or may not have grabbed a Batternag and stabbed instead.

Tim did not do it when his mum died, nor when his father was almost taken off life support, because they wouldn’t like it and it was about them.

The bats don’t k ow about it, but his team does.

Greta had heard him have a rather rough conversation with Batman and when she went to check on him after he hung up, she saw as he opened his Bo staff and started whacking against the Titan Tower console, hitting over and over in dead quiet before activating the blade on the end and slicing through the biggest scream, causing half of it to fall off the wall.

She had gone to the others and Tim had been given no choice but to open up to his team.

It took him a while to admit that it helped a hell of a lot more to talk to them than to smash up multi-million dollar equipment.

Jason and Damian are the first of the bats to see it, though by then Cass was well aware of his habit as Tim could never lie to his sister.

He hadn’t had a moment like that for months, nearly a whole year, but then one night when Jason and Damian had needed to come by his Nest to get some backup toxin cure when Ivy was announced as escaped: he got a call that pissed him off.

One of the board members he had very clearly told Bruce he wasn’t willing to work with as the prudish man annoyed him, had been transferred to DI from WE because for some reason Bruce seemed to think Tim needed to work less and needed more help. Why that was in the form of a useless former CFO was beyond Tim, but it wasn’t abnormal for Bruce to make company decisions like he was operating with the Justice League and everyone had basic respect for each other-

During the call, Jason and Damian had been watching and observed as Tim grew more and more tensed as he spoke with Lucious, who was doing his best to calm the situation as he had witnessed the aftermath of one of Tim’s outburst within a week of knowing the young man.

Damian watched as Tim tells Lucious to call him back in a few hours so he can be more rational before handing up and very slowly placed his phone down on the desk.

Being an assassin, Damian is an expert of body language and had been working with Cass to become a master, but to see such anger on Tim was odd. Tim was a snappy and shouting kind of angry, but this quiet and shaking rage was something different.

“Drake-“

Tim holds a hand up and when Damian actually goes quiet, Jason knows something is up and moves to stand beside the youngest of them just one case.

“If you would please give me a moment.”

The two watch as Tim moves into another room, one that they knew to be a work room that Tim used when he built or repaired things.

He shuts the door and for a moment there’s nothing before the sounds of clanging, bashing and thudding starts to rattle the walls. They hear it all but see nothing, only having the sounds of Tim shouting out obscenities and metal hitting metal to go off.

Though it’s muffled they can hear some of what he’s saying like, ‘stupid fucking Bruce with his stupid fucking meddling’ and in a mocking voice: ‘“I act dumb so people don’t know I’m Batman”- ARE YOU SURE ITS AN ACT?!’.

Glass shattered as Tim said something about buying Bruce’s company just to fire him.

By the time it settles down they can hear his breathing through the walls.

A deep inhale sounds before something, maybe a desk, is righted upwards and Tim walks back out looking only mildly disheveled. “Sorry, needed a moment. What was it you needed?”

Damian, who was caught between defending his father and trying to get a peak into the thrashed room, wanted to insult Tim for his poor emotional regulation but got the feeling it wasn’t the time.

Jason seemed to agree and answered for them both, saying, “Just some toxin cures… Ivy for out.”

Tim inhaled deeply again, looking behind him and giving a blank look, “You’ll have to ask someone else.”

Damian raised an eyebrow, “why?”

Tim gestured to the room he had just exited, “I was reorganising.” A pause. “They were in there.”

Jason gave him a teasing smirk, “you broke them didn’t you?”

With a shrug, Tim adjusted his gloves and walked over to his desk, “It was that of Bruce’s face.”

hey so how do you think Mammon would deal with a s/o who has him wrapped around their finger accidentally. Like early on if this is when mc makes first contract with Mammon he’s like “You can’t make me obey you” and s/o is like “I don’t want you to obey me”. He’s being his usual tsundere self and is like “It’s not like I like having you around” and s/o gives him the biggest sad eyes ever and a “Oh?” Or he says “I’m not watching the sappy movie!” And s/o’s understanding about him not liking the same thing of them and genuinely suggests, accidentally making him jealous, “Oh. :D That’s ok. I’ll ask one of your brothers if they want too since you don’t like it. We can do something else another time”?

Mammon:

✩ Dealing implies Mammon has some control over how greatly you have him around your finger. Which frankly he doesn't not at all, regardless of how much he swears up and down you don't. That you as his human are instead wrapped around his finger.

✩ Only to almost always end up drop everything if it kept you happy. The sappy movie that he's not interested in watching, he's quick to change his mind the second you even mention watching it with someone else. "Nope. I changed my mind. Don't ask anyone else, I'll do it." He doesn't budge at all.

✩ You say you need help with something in the group chat and his reply to start is that if you pay him he's there. But the second one of his brothers jumps in he's telling them to butt out because he's doing it. Free of charge. It's the responsible thing to do as your first. They all make fun of him for how quickly he switches up.

✩ "You're so whipped LOL." Levi comments one time and Mammon, to no one surprise denies it up and down. "Didn't you spend three hours last week trying to win a plushie at a game to give to them?" Nope. No he didn't. He doesn't know what anyone is talking about. (He did. And the second he one it ran straight to you.)

✩ He's also never too far away. Which it's just a coincidence. You're the one following him around, not him. "I heard Solomon was going to take his beloved apprentice and treat them to some of his cooking." Asmo says to him one day, just to watch Mammon's face twist with horror as he makes an excuse to head in your direction to find you and save you from an unfortunate fate.

Present early traits in childhood such as loving to play hide and seek, wishing to be chased, playful with young alphas, may exhibit nuzzling or nesting behaviors too!

Into tween years they start having soft heats in which they begin nesting and longing to develop a pack outside of their family pack

Tween omegas may even exhibit stronger heats depending on how early they begin getting their cycles

Teen omegas having their first heats, nesting, seeking out alphas, and potentially making poor decisions in their heats

Teen omegas needing educated on how to handle their heats on their own and heavily discouraged against taking an alpha until they mature

Teen omegas taking part in false courting and even potentially sharing non bonding heats with alphas

Mature omegas 20-30 having their heats become more manageable and less intense. Feeling the strong desire to leave their family pack and start a pack of their own if they haven’t already made a platonic pack of friends in their teen years!

Mature omegas choosing this stage of their life to spend heats with potential mates and properly being courted.

20-30 year old omegas typically bonding around this time in their life with alphas of their choosing

40-50 year old omegas having their cycles slowly become less intense as their body stops trying to mate and breed.

60+ omegas reverting back to softer heats or no heats at all while still nesting as they normally would if they were still having heats.

Elderly omegas still having cycles but heats begin to look less and less intense until heats are only then being extra clingy towards their mate.

Elderly omegas and alphas forgetting everything but the bond between their mate when they get dementia symptoms. Maybe even getting shy or blush around their partner when they are having a bad day and don’t know who they are.

Elderly omegas being protective of their grandkids, being reminded of what it was like to be a young omega.

Bonded pairs dying within days of one another due to the close ties of the bond.

Nesting for Omegas

•A Nest is a space an Omega keeps for their heats especially but also for a calming, comfortable space all their own

•No one is to enter that space without express permission from the Omega in question-permission is needed every time you enter unless you’re the Omegas Alpha and you know you’re wanted there-permission will still be needed for an Alpha if the Omega is upset with them

•When an Omega builds a nest they zone out and focus on their task, it is nearly impossible to get their attention and if you do you’ll wish you hadn’t, Omegas don’t take kindly to being distracted while building their nest {Disrupt at your own Risk}

•Do Not wear your shoes into an Omegas nest!

•Young Omegas will always have a nest of their own but when with friends or family outside their home, like at a sleep over, they will often make a nest for them and their friends to sleep in. Alphas and Betas are taught not to intrude on a nest that’s not their Omegas but in this case it’s a community nest, though the Omega will still be particular about how it’s built, often changing little things about how they buid their own nest so it’s not too similar, not wanting people to know what their nest looks like

•Many Betas and Alphas try to build nests when they’re children, wanting the comfort, especially once they’ve experienced a friends nest or been into their parents if they have an Omega parent, though it’s a behavior that doesn’t stick around long very often-only the occasional Beta will continue this practice and it will be different than that of an Omegas

(——However when an Alpha has been put on suppressants too young (usually before presenting) they will often display Omega-like behaviors and one of those is nesting. This action becomes just as if not more important to the Alpha as they grow-especially depending on their situation)

•An Omega will usually build their nest in a small space with surrounding walls, like a nook. Many young Omegas will build their nests in their closet when they’re new to it and instinctually try to hide it from people

•Many Omegas hang curtains around their nests to make them feel safer and less exposed, another reason younger Omegas nest in their closets so often. It makes them feel less vulnerable

•Typical nesting materials include

Comforters. Pillows. Body pillows. Sheets. Fleece throws. Stuffed animals. Mates clothes, or clothes of an Alpha they like that they’ve stolen to make their nest smell like them. -Young Omegas will quite often steal shirts from their Alpha fathers to put in their nest as in their youth it has only ever been a safe and wonderful/comforting smell that often helps them relax and sleep (to the small Omega ‘Alpha Scent’ just smells like Daddy and Daddy is safe-this wears off around puberty and sometimes even earlier) Many use faux fur as part of their nest, the feel of animal fur being instinctually comforting to an Omega as it was one of the only things Omegas had to use hundreds of years ago

•Candles will typically be placed around a nest or incense holders as well as lights, fairy lights often being things Omegas like hanging over their nests as they’re not overly bright and blinding, they offer a dim light that’s just enough without being too much, just enough to be comforting so Christmas lights are often perfect

•Nearly all Omegas will have a cache of snacks. Some have a mini fridge near by with things in it but most will have a box hidden in a corner of their nest containing water bottles/Powerade/gatorade since their heats cause intense thirst, it will also contain snacks. Mostly things that are filling and replace their energy during heats such as Trail mix, jerky, gold fish crackers, peanut butter crackers, granola bars, peanuts, pretzels, but they will also have other treats that they enjoy most for when they need them like fruit snacks, cookies, favorite candy bars, chips, pop corn, Rice Krispie treats

•Every single nest is different, because every single Omega is different. Some are extremely neat, some are hectic and messy, some are all matching and beautiful, some are mismatched colors and complex, made on a mattress, layered on a hundred pillows. No 2 nests are the same but they are all comfortable and perfect to each individual Omega

•A quick way to an Omegas heart is a compliment on their nest, they all work very hard to make it perfect and are more self conscious about it than you would expect since it is so personal to them

•If you are lucky enough to be allowed into an Omegas nest count your lucky stars, it is an honor and a privilege and you should never treat it as anything less

Asking white people why we feel the urge to portray the Elrics as brown.

To nip this bad faith reading in the bud: No, I'm not speaking against the re-imagining of protagonists as people of color because a fan might want to see themselves in a work of art where they are underrepresented.

I'm speaking to the very specific recent (last ~5-10 years or so) fandom trend of giving Ed and Al darker skin and changing absolutely nothing about the context under which they move through their fictional world.

Any person with even some faint trace of a critical pulse can smell the stink on FMA's, particularly the manga's and PARTICULARLY BH's, racial politics. The protagonists are descended from a mythologized dead race of pale blond people from the desert, and Edward is also posited as the ultimate moral compass on which the series' thematic logic turns. The latter is archetypal of a Shounen. From jump, if we're delivering A Lesson, Edward is always right. The series generally doesn't think there's anything wrong with the militaristic status quo (so long as we rout the shadow cabal living under the capital (don't think about that too hard)), so Edward also thinks there is nothing wrong with it. This causes him, from time to time, to butt heads with survivors of a genocide perpetrated by the army that he works for. Because FMAB wants to have its cake and eat it, too: It postures as being about Serious Things, like industrialized imperialism, but it also abjectly refuses to shed its Shounen trappings, lest it come to the not-so-feel-good conclusion that it was the militaristic status quo that enabled horrific violence in the first place. The protagonist is a willful member of an elite class of soldiers who were deployed in recent living memory to wipe an indigenous population off the map, but he is ideologically opposed to using guns because they kill people. The protagonist must always win with friendship, might, and vague niceties about how all lives matter.

Making Ed brown does not alleviate this contradiction. It only highlights the insecurity of the white people in the room who can tell that something is Off, but aren't willing to engage with it in a meaningful way.

The knee-jerk reaction to make Xerxians darker isn't an unreasonable one. The canon as it is presented could have been lifted from one of many white supremacist pseudo-histories about mystical ancestral white people. The fact that FMA wasn't created by a white person does not negate this, especially when that person is of the majority within her own imperial nation. Hiromu Arakawa is not Ainu, and she has never claimed to be. The idea that she is comes from a game of fandom telephone based on an interview where she mentions that she has relatives who are. This erroneous extrapolation fits within the same bubble of white comfort as redesigning Ed to be brown: If Arakawa is indigenous, she has implicit authority on the subject of indigeneity within her fiction. If Edward is brown, then all the Ick that self-proclaimed progressive people get when he is talking down at Scar or Miles goes away.

But both of these sentiments are self-comforting fallacies.

Making Edward brown within the fiction of Fullmetal Alchemist while changing nothing about his worldview and experiences does nothing but provide a notion of legitimacy and authority to his moral stances that clash with other brown characters who have less favorable views on the military status quo. He is still a willing servicemember in an army that only a decade ago wiped an entire ethnic region off the map.

Brown Edward is just another entry in fandom's long legacy of "brown paper doll" characters-- Characters who are visibly people of color, but who have no cultural or ideological grounding that might reasonably stem from their racialization within the fiction. Characters who are palatable to white people because they do not force us into discomfort, whose suffering is Noble because it does not move them to hatred or violence against the systems and people who oppress them. Characters who very often have skin that's been eyedropped a shade darker, but who lack any other features deemed unfavorable by white supremacy.

I don't engage much with fandom critique these days, because after so much time here, I have come to the conclusion that the vast majority of people would rather dig their heels in and continue to pretend that an anime they like is something that is simply is not. That a cartoon "likes women" (whatever the fuck that means) simply because it has more women in it than others of a similar genre. That it is "anti-imperialist" because the imperialists who have more power when the curtain closes than they did when it opened Feel Bad about the genocide they did. This post is already written from the assumption that the reader is aware of the reactionary undercurrents of FMAB's themes and political messaging, which means it's already going to miss a lot of people who are, frankly, ignorant, be it because they lack the critical framework to deconstruct a story's contradictory or problematic elements, or because they simply don't want to or don't care. I know I'm not reaching them. I haven't even gotten into how glaring it is that the vast majority of fandom would rather put a coat of paint on Good Golden Edward than meaningfully engage with the characters of color who already exist in the show and whose identities are not so toothlessly convenient for a white audience's comfort.

My hope is only to encourage that, rather than shoving the discomfort out of sight and mind with a performance of progressivism, we face it down in our art. Edward Elric is a racist dickhead. How can we meaningfully explore that? How does he become a better citizen of the world? And by extension: How do we? Certainly not by reframing our thematic mouthpieces in the facsimile of a marginalized identity to lend legitimacy to everything they say in support of the oppressive status quo.

"There is a freedom that comes with abandonment"

Do you think about it? How canon Bruce has managed to in some way shape or form abandon every single child he's ever taken in, that they all have to deal with the when not if of when Dad decides his love IS conditional and that they will never fully fit the bill.

But thats the beauty isn't it? The day he decides for you, that they no longer spend their days dancing on eggshells lest be denied the family they fought so hard to gain.

Im thinking about Dick, the first in everything- first loved, first left, first to fly, first to flee, the first to come right back again. Not for Bruce, never for Bruce- but for his siblings that followed.

He watched them dance to the exact same tune unable to stop the crecsendo and helpless to watch the same story over and over again.

The difference though? They weren't the first. They had him- and every single one after.

It's Dick and Babs gritting their teeth in a grin while teaching Jason what it means to fly. It's Cass with him, promising to save face enough after seeing the same old song start up again. It's Tim and Steph finding excuse after excuse to drag Damian away, to ground him in more than just a mantle. Then Its Damian who denies Dicks offer to leave, because Duke is still so shiny and new.

Its the kids showing eachother that its okay to fall, because how else will they truly fly?

God I love nesting. Specifically love:

When omegas steal things from their alphas, typically "without them knowing" (generally they catch on, but stay silent cause they think it's so cute 🤭)

Blankets and pillows piled high the entire way around the bed (or wherever they happen to go into heat), high enough they have to sit up to see outside of the nest

Blankets and pillows as the outer shell, with lightly worn clothes from their alpha as the interior of their nest

Taking all of the blankets and pillows from the house, including any throws and pillows on the couches and in closets, with the softest and most used ones kept close

Making their alpha(s) wait until their omega declares the nest perfect to enter, usually hovering inches away as they wait for permission - sometimes this can take daaays (swoon)

Alphas happily providing their clothes, sometimes purposefully wearing 2-3 outfits a day when their omega begins going into heat

O! Steve wasn’t comfortable making a nest for himself until he moved out his parent’s house. He'd spent so long suppressing that urge that he really didn’t know how to make one so he tried to learn all he could by watching YouTube videos, reading articles and consulting local omegas even when they gave him funny looks (people were still convinced he was an Alpha even though he’d been out as Omega for awhile). He wanted to make it perfect. Firstly, for himself and secondly because he wanted Eddie to be the first person he showed it to. Maybe then the Alpha would finally understand how nuts about him he was.

One of the parts of the omegaverse's worldbuilding I like the most is the concept of nests and all of its possibilities! In fact I have some personal headcannons if you dont mind to read:

-Nests can variate in size, shape, prupose...from individual nests being exclusively for a single omega, to huge mountains of blankets and pillows made for entire packs to fit in (wheither they are friend packs, family packs, etc)

-In family packs, omegas tend to keep EVERY single plushie that has belonged to ANY member of the family and put them in the nests, so its not weird to see nests filled with old teddybears that have belonged to some great great grandparent 125 years ago. They make that as a tribute to those family members that have passed away, to tell them that they will never be forgotten and there will always be a place in the nests for them, even if they are not physcslly there anymore.

-In some areas its common to organise "nest trades" several times a year. In those events, many omegas reunite to give hand-made plushies, pillows, blankets, etc to those packs that struggle economically and cannot afford proper nests. They also trade items between friends, sell items made of alternative materials for people with allergies, discuss over which nest structures and ideas are viable or not, make expositions of nests made by them that people can try on,etc

-Nests are also a prominent topic In social media. There are like thousands of channels that focus entirely on nest designing: tutorials on how to make proper nests of different sizes, advice on which materials are better to use in every case, which color combinations look better, which type of decoration use depending on the aesthetic they want the nest to be, and even videos showing nests with original and unusual structures and colors. Nests are not only consdered a comfort place, but also a subgender of art and a way to express your creativity.
