Hi! I just had an idea and you’re the first omegaverse blog I follow that came to mind to rant to! Honestly I have no idea if this has already been done (it probably has) but I was thinking about how Omegas having extended contact with other omegas might be very important for their hormone balance etc. lots of skin on skin contact and cuddling/nesting is good for them BUT then I was struck with the idea of a ‘cuddle loop!’

Imagine two (or more) omegas scenting each other and rolling around in a nest all happy and safe, kinda halfway between consciousness and a ‘happy drop’. They keep pumping out pheromones and scenting each other, purring up a storm! I guess you can imagine mutual scent bombing which is a concept that’s been done a lot. But they kind of get stuck! They are drugging each other with all these happy brain drugs and they can’t ’wake up!’ They need someone to rescue them from the cuddle loop or they might forget to eat or drink.

Think an adorable version of a rat king haha.

Sorry for this weird rant? I was just consumed by it like I was possessed by the omegaverae Gods!

If MC takes a nap around the House, they'll wake up surrounded by a mound of blankets, pillows, and various random shirts and jackets from their closest.

They think, "Oh MC might get cold, I'll go get them a blanket." ... then another, and another, and another, and...

Then their bird-brains forget even doing it until MC wakes up or they need their clothes to go out somewhere.

Belphie has woken up in similar fabric piles before and it weirds him out that they keep doing that

Present early traits in childhood such as loving to play hide and seek, wishing to be chased, playful with young alphas, may exhibit nuzzling or nesting behaviors too!

Into tween years they start having soft heats in which they begin nesting and longing to develop a pack outside of their family pack

Tween omegas may even exhibit stronger heats depending on how early they begin getting their cycles

Teen omegas having their first heats, nesting, seeking out alphas, and potentially making poor decisions in their heats

Teen omegas needing educated on how to handle their heats on their own and heavily discouraged against taking an alpha until they mature

Teen omegas taking part in false courting and even potentially sharing non bonding heats with alphas

Mature omegas 20-30 having their heats become more manageable and less intense. Feeling the strong desire to leave their family pack and start a pack of their own if they haven’t already made a platonic pack of friends in their teen years!

Mature omegas choosing this stage of their life to spend heats with potential mates and properly being courted.

20-30 year old omegas typically bonding around this time in their life with alphas of their choosing

40-50 year old omegas having their cycles slowly become less intense as their body stops trying to mate and breed.

60+ omegas reverting back to softer heats or no heats at all while still nesting as they normally would if they were still having heats.

Elderly omegas still having cycles but heats begin to look less and less intense until heats are only then being extra clingy towards their mate.

Elderly omegas and alphas forgetting everything but the bond between their mate when they get dementia symptoms. Maybe even getting shy or blush around their partner when they are having a bad day and don’t know who they are.

Elderly omegas being protective of their grandkids, being reminded of what it was like to be a young omega.

Bonded pairs dying within days of one another due to the close ties of the bond.

Agents agents agents + a couple of ocs! I remembered that my cephalopods come in many patterns so I decided to explore that!

Notes abt patterns below-

Cap3: has many scars, most have healed. Though some of the sanitation effects remain around their wrists and hands, as well as their tentacles... their left eye is almost blind.

Agent4: Naturally glittery skin and tentacles, kind of accents the metallic patterns acquired from getting partially washed out by Order. Those arent metal fingers, those are patterns!

Additional design note -- she used to be way more sparkly, but the loss of her faith in herself made her colors fade. Easier for Order to wash her out then, no?

Neo3: fucking beaste. Kept trying to eat falling into the fuzzy ooze during her mission and now has a part of it in her dna. Sometimes gets more mammalian features (fur, hair, claws...on one occasion she sprouted a tail!)

Agent8: Same as the first design I made, now with added jelleton inspired patterns due to Side Order! Maybe bc she destroyed a bunch of em wkdndk

The rings have been with her awhile, she had decided to show em off once she got out of the Deep Sea Metro.

Agent5: Patterns reflect his time in the labyrinth -- rain, the sea, the rings reminiscent of the foam kicked up by changing tides.

Agent6: ...this is just Mags! His hair shimmers like crow feathers dipped in gold. His ink is actually yellow, but he really doesnt like his hair being that shade -- so he changes it manually to reflect his preferences. His magic circles are the one set of tattoos he allows to show through in this inkling disguise.

His stripe pattern is referencing his patterns in his original form! He looks like hes always wreathed in golden flame.

(His size meanwhile befits his fighting style -- dual wielding splatana stampers)

The last two are Croissant and Melon, the first owned by @pastille-pain!

Melon: her ink is naturally pale. The powdery patterns are reminiscent of snowfall and moonlight simply bc I like that aijdje. Theyre pearlescent/opalescent, shimmering as she moves. When she gets emotional, she starts to glow with colored spots!

<- A/B/O Anon

HI- *coughs* well, they aren’t exactly headcanons, just ideas I have that I wanna chat about.

I’m on a big Omega!Bruce kick so here they are. (these can or can’t be connected but I do love the idea of them being connected)

1. Brucie Wayne is a known Omega, one that flits from date to date. The thing is, Batman is known as an omega too. This time he’s the embodiment of an Omegan Mom protecting their nest Territory from all threats. Like Omegas used to do in the Olden Times™️, feral behavior and scenting is common >:3

2. A/B/O Dynamics don’t actually exist outside Gotham. Sure, some Gothamites have moved out so A/B/O is known, but isn’t seen outside Gothamites.

So when Dick Grayson came to Gotham he was very confused and didn’t really understand what was going on.

When Bruce eventually scoops him up and brings him home, Dick is even more confused. Atleast in Juvie the A/B/O behaviors were stifled except for posturing, but now outside of Juvie? In the home of an Omega? He’s gonna get the full brunt of Bruce both fussing over him and trying his best to not cross the line of Bruce being his Pack Guardian and not Pack Omega. (Either way, for Dick it’s very much smothering)

It doesn’t click for Bruce or Alfred until Bruce comes sulking to Alfred about his pup being broken and not even accepting being scented! Doesn’t Dick want to feel safe??? No one’s going to touch Dick if he’s smothered in Wayne Scent!!! (Maybe eventually Dick gets startled when he starts to instinctively responding as a pup would/is able to smell scents/feel pack bonds)

3. When Jason gets tossed into the Lazarus pit, it actually repairs his pack bonds. Sure, it’s not perfect, Jason can’t actually reach out through the bonds to respond- but he can feel his Pack’s love, not to mention their desperation to get him back as soon as they realize Jay’s bonds are back. (Talia, meanwhile, is still trying to convince Jay that Bruce doesn’t love him and how he replaced him, but that doesn’t quite work as Jason can feel his Pack’s love- not to mention the absolute adoration coming from the newest, weakest, and youngest link in the pack)

4. And finally four- One of the Robins vanish from the Teen Titans for quite a bit- and when they come back, they’re questioned on where they went. Robin sighs and just says Batman was being broody again, and the Teen Titans just think that Batman was brooding.

In actuality, the Robin had to deal with Bruce being broody in the chicken sense. AKA, “You Are My Child And I Will Keep You In My Nest And Focus Entirely On You And Your Well-being. ..What do you mean taking care of myself? I have to take care of my PUP!”

I absolutely adore all of this. Love the idea of it being a Gotham thing because Gotham is just Like That. Like there's so many curses and magic and who knows how many chemicals that they're like, still human but also just built different.

Gosh, if heats are a thing I like to think they're more platonic. Just, fussing over pack members and being the Broodiest Thing Ever with every family member and will get Upset if one tries to leave the Nest where they are Safe and can be Taken Care Of.

Pfft, the poor Justice League are not prepared for Batman to get broody on a mission and force them all to take care of themselves with no context. They're not his pack, but well, they have fought together and they're sort-of friends, depending on the timeline.

Poor Damian is going to get smothered, Bruce is going to get Very broody the moment Jason returns, and with Another Pup. Tim & Dick get yoinked back from the Titans Tower to be smothered and snuggled and absolutely covered in the family's scent.

Absolutely love the idea of them learning how to be a pup and pack together and am vibrating in utter glee at all of this.

I am of the DPxDC belief/headcanon that any variation of Danny who grew up poor in Gotham during his formative years before moving to Amity Park would not be friends with Sam without friction at first. It makes things more interesting and imo allows for more exploration of different themes plus character growth for Sam that she doesn't really go through in canon.

(this doesn't only apply to a DPDC au where Danny grew up in Gotham poor, but it was the first thing that I thought of where this might happen considering my Childhood Friends au.)

Now Sam's a compassionate girl, it's one of her defining character traits, but so is her hypocrisy and judgy-ness. She's the Not Like Other Girls' girl. This is in part of the show's narrative framing that makes her out like this, unfortunately though its still showing how she is as a character since its consistent enough to be part of her character description. There are also times where the show's depiction of her activism makes it look like she's performative about it. All of this makes her dynamic with a Danny who grew up poor in Gotham very interesting.

Anyways, Sam is aware of her privilege to an extent, but still has her blindspots - glaring ones, in some cases. Her self-righteous attitude would not go over well with a crime alley kid Danny. He'd like her, at first, but then she'd do something to make him mad - personally I think her judging people for not being vegan would annoy him the most, or at least would be the breaking point for him, because it was only recently that his family started actually being able to consistently put food on the table at all, good food nonetheless. And being vegan is expensive.

Any other behavior he noticed from her he'd slowly stop tolerating - her judging conventionally attractive girls and automatically assuming they're vapid and shallow for being feminine. Her anti-capitalist beliefs start coming off as superficial at worst, and Danny would eventually figure out that Sam either came from a family that was well off, or that she wasn't aware if her family was experiencing financial struggle.

He would still be friends with Tucker, but since Tucker imo is still friends with Sam, they'd still run into each other often enough to butt heads. Sam's got a nasty habit of refusing to take responsibility when she's wrong, but when Danny is arguing with her, and counterpointing her with stuff she can't retort back at without compromising her own beliefs, then forces her to start reflecting on herself. Especially when Tucker eventually starts siding with Danny and agreeing with him.

Does sam genuinely care about her beliefs and philosophies? Survey says yes. However that doesn't mean she's not ignorant, and she definitely is at times throughout the show (like when she released the purpleback gorilla thinking it 'wanted out of its enclosure' despite the fact that it was endangered and in an urban area) and I think it'd be a real fascinating dynamic between Danny and Sam to explore.

This isn't Sam hate btw, nor am I trying to make her out like "the worst person ever" bc she's not, i wanna make that explicitly clear. Sam Manson has a lot of positive traits about her but she also has an equal amount of negative traits that I think should be explored, she is not immune to the character development.

Anyways, here are some random nest headcanons.

Hoarding is common in people who nest. It's neither bad nor good, it's just common. That blanket you had since middle school that has holes and stains? You're taking that to the grave.

I know this has been mentioned before, but there are for sure sorts solely dedicated to nesting materials. There are gimmicky ones where it's like if you have a whimsical-themed nest or if you like superheroes. Think BTS, Spider-Man, or Minecraft inspired nest materials. lol

In my au, beds and nests are often separate. It's not uncommon for someone to nest in bed or for the nest to become the bed. I view nests as an almost sacred thing. It's a place for pure isolation with or without a partner, a safe space.

^ A follow-up; You will often find nests in corners of rooms, closets, bathrooms, basements, or generally anywhere that would be dimmed and cool/hot. Depends on the person. The most important part is that there's enough room for the nester and partner. If they have pups, there needs to be room for them too.

A lot of older houses have designated areas for nests. They are often filled in or forgotten about, seeing as nester has free range of where they wanna nest.

Nesters make different nests in different spots. Depending on their moods, they will switch up where they relax.

Nests aren't strictly for mating, contrary to popular belief. However, sometimes a nester will make nests for specific purposes; sex, sleep, birthing, etc.

Nesting can also be done platonically. "Come over bestie, we're nesting."

To nest is to bond, not like "bond", but to have time together. Hence it's so easy to have platonic and/or romantic relationships in them.

This is just random, but I feel like the textile industry would be as hell profitable compared to any other business.

There would often be a lot of new technologies for nests. Quick drying or slick-proof sheets, temperature-controlled nest mattress, scent pods, new textures being created.

This has been in my drafts for....too long. But this is for the nestmakers of the fandom. And self-indulgent.

Tagging the wonderful @ms--lobotomy and @pickpocketing-your-gender because I think they (just like you, dear reader), deserve to be tucked into a cosy nest.

Magnus is a nest hog. He will purposefully spread out and even make himself bigger just to take up the entirety of the nest. Not to worry though, you can still squeeze in next to him - he may be being an ass, but he still wants his cuddles. He is also conveniently the perfect temperature for snoozing. Daemon Magnus is even worse because now wings are involved. But at least you get to watch his happy little tail waggle when he flops all over the bed.

Corvus is an unintentional nest hog. He doesn’t mean to be, but the nest is so cosy and warm and he is so tired...

You will have to shove your way in there, but he won't mind. He won't even wake up, actually, so you'll be right; just go on ahead and snuggle up under his arm. His body temp runs on the cooler side, so the contrast between that and the warmth of the bedding around you is quite nice.

Fulgrim is a little unsure about the whole "nesting" thing, but he does his best. His nests are well made, and mostly pillows. He also tends to curl up when he sleeps, so chances are you'll wake up with his face buried in your shoulder or chest, his arms wrapped around you and legs curled as if he is part of the nest itself. He sleeps best in the nest with you, loves the closeness of it and the intimacy that brings. He quietly prefers if you let him handle the nest-making, but if you're someone very specific about it, he will let you handle it without a fuss.

Sanguinius's nests look the most like a bird's out of all of them. He uses the blankets and pillows to make a circle and then settles himself in there and waits for you. Once you've joined him, he fluffs his wings up like a broody hen and nestles you even closer, his wings downy soft. Sanguinius only uses a sheet, possibly a light blanket because he, like Fulgrim, runs warm, and he doesn't enjoy having his wings tangled.

Cumulus makes a nest before she goes into heat because she's feeling instinctual.

The ghouls attempt to assist her with the nest.

Phantom has never made a nest before. He's never seen a nest before.

First, he brings in sticks and leaves from the woods, since he heard Cumulus was nesting and he immediately thought of birds and how they nest.

Then, he brought in Copia's robes. You know, the pristine ones in the display case in the locked room so that they're kept in perfect condition between tours? Yeah, those ones. Phantom decided that they look better bundled up in Cumulus' nest because they smell of Papa.

Thirdly, he brought in a jug of milk and a packet of cookies so that Lus could snack without having to leave the bed. Cumulus didn't find the bottle of milk for three days. She only found it when it started to smell.

Phantom is a bit of a pigeon when it comes to nests.

SO as an aromantic villain liker, I have to admit that whether aro or not, there's something compelling about Philip perhaps clinging to Caleb in part because of an alienation from the Other way of acquiring a Good God-Loving Family in his day and age. because if Caleb spurns their witch hunting dreams to go fall in love with a witch that's a perceived betrayal to Philip on two fronts, the witch sympathizing and the abandoning Philip for romance. it's compelling in a "Belos selectively ignores all the norms of his own oppressive belief system that he spurns, when he could have easily found a home amongst the freaks if he let go of his hate" way. it's compelling in an "adds even more parallels to Lilith, who avoids following his path, and shows that people who start in a similar place, with both genuine flaws and genuine instances of being wronged by the world, the latter not entirely unrelated to aromanticism, are still able to find joy instead of hatred, because aromanticism is not a destiny to endlessly suffer nor a destiny to do evil" kind of way.

BUT. unfortunately. I've seen way too many posts that just spew garbage like "Belos is evil because he's incapable of love, obviously! and the heroes are good and moral and (cough) not subhuman (cough) because they actually love people 🥰," just total horseshit right at the intersection of aphobia and ableism. just a total admission that they don't think love can ever motivate people to hurt anyone, that they don't think they can hurt anyone they love and no one they love could really hurt them, that love is a get out of jail free card when doing harm while harm is a get banned from love and humanity permanently card, so. basically, we can't have nice things.
