The tulpamancy study AMA was so exciting!! We woke up ridiculously late and all the questions we wanted to ask already had been; so happy with the level of passion from the community!
some responses from the two researchers that we found interesting/exciting:

Debunking Anti(-endo's)Misinfo. AKA: How are anti-endos so bad at sources????
Tumblr media
(The original)
Oh, well good on you for trying to cover everything! Nice of anti-endos to finally start trying to use science to prove their arguments. I'm sure these sources will totally be reliable and will prove your points beyond a shadow of a doubt, and that you won't just be falling flat on your face with every single attempt at basic reading comprehension, and end up repeatedly make a complete fool of yourself.
Let's go!
Tumblr media
Off to a pretty strong start, acknowledging that many endogenic systems don't have DID or OSDD. Sadly, that basic fact is something that seems to escape most anti-endos. So with this in mind, I think it's safe to say the goal of this post is going to be to prove...
You can't possibly have DID without trauma.
You can't possibly have OSDD without trauma.
You can't be a system without DID/OSDD.
Let's read through and see how they'll do at proving their points by the end. I promise you, the results... won't surprise you. 😉
Tumblr media
Well, there goes that strong start.
Tumblr media
The source here is a Carrd and so-called "common sense."
Meanwhile, in the World Health Organization's ICD-11, alters or dissociative identities are described as "distinct personality states." In the same page, it's stated that you can have multiple "distinct personality states" without a disorder.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is information from the World Health Organization affirming that you can be plural without a disorder. And I think that prevails over your so-called "common sense."
See also these screenshots from the plurality chapter of Transgender Mental Health, a book published by the American Psychiatric Association:
Tumblr media
Finally, I really want to put a focus on this line of logic: "you cannot have alters without having a disorder, this is common sense as it's not normal to have alters."
Normal has multiple meanings in different contexts. The ICD-11's boundary with normality uses normal to mean "non-pathological." But this post seems to be using "normal" in the lay way to mean "common."
And that makes this particular rhetoric extremely dangerous and harmful to many communities. "If it's not common, it's a mental illness," was the basis for homosexuality and being transgender being listed as mental illnesses. "Most people don't think this way, so there's something wrong with them."
This could also easily be used to pathologize Otherkin and other alterhumans as mentally ill because it's not "normal" to identify as an animal.
The modern World Health Organization and American Psychiatric Association recognize the fact that simply thinking unusually or differently isn't an illness or disorder.
Statements like yours do not exist within a vacuum, but harken back to decades past when any non-typical thinking would have you labeled as having a disorder that needed treated.
Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it.
Let's be thankful to live in a world today where our differences aren't considered disorders. And let's not resort to ideologies that threaten to return us to those days past.
Tumblr media
Wait... who suggests this? Who are they? I think I need more info...
Tumblr media
So... "some researchers."
Also, can we talk about how this starts off with "sometimes called multiple personality disorder." I checked to see if this was before the name changed in the ICD (which I believe was 2015) and it doesn't seem to be! Oldest archive I can find is 2020!
Rethink.org is a charity.
These are not peer-reviewed papers.
The page references "some researchers" without names or sources.
I have no idea who authored this or if they're qualified at all in this field.
This is a terrible source. A web page by an anonymous author citing other unnamed authors with no reason to think anyone who wrote this had any idea what they were talking about!
Tumblr media
This says DID is caused by many things, and lists trauma as only one that's included. This doesn't back up the idea DID/OSDD can only be caused by trauma, and suggests the opposite.
Oh, and "it's also known as split personality disorder." 😔
Go home WebMD.
Tumblr media
Usually associated with doesn't mean it's a requirement, and in fact implies that it isn't always.
Tumblr media
"Is associated with." "Can be a response to trauma."
Reiterating that the first two goals here were to prove you can't have DID or OSDD without trauma. And these aren't doing that.
An association doesn't mean there's a causation, and it doesn't mean that association is there in 100% of cases.
Tumblr media
"often develop."
Like with "usually", you wouldn't use the word often if if something always happened. The choice of wording implies you can have dissociative disorders without trauma.
Tumblr media
Are... they messing with us right now???
I swear, you can't have a post that sets out with the goal of disproving the existence of endogenic plurality, and then use quotes that seem to consistently imply there can be other causes for DID and not pick up on that theme!
Tumblr media
Oh, yay! We finally got a quote that's actually trying to argue the point we started with.
But, again, this runs into a similar issue to the ReThink.org one. This is a random independent organization. There is no author for this article. It hasn't undergone peer review like an academic paper would.
There is no evidence the person who wrote this article is actually educated in dissociative disorders.
Tumblr media
And finally back to "usually."
Tumblr media
You must be so proud...
Tumblr media
Source Round-Up
There was a lot here, so let's just recap.
6 out of 8 of these sources only say that DID is "usually" or "often" or "can be" caused by or associated with trauma. These actually imply there are cases where it's NOT caused by trauma, going against the original goals of this post.
Finally, there were two sources, Rethink and Mind.org, which did suggest DID is just caused by trauma, full stop. But both of these are extremely questionable as sources.
Neither named their authors. There's no indication what the review process is for their websites. And "Rethink" merely said this is what "some researchers" believe.
So let's double back to those goals set at the beginning.
You can't possibly have DID without trauma: One source says this, but the reliability of that source is questionable. Another source says some researchers are saying this but doesn't name any researchers or cite those sources. Meanwhile, the other six sources imply that it IS possible for DID to exist without trauma.
You can't possibly have OSDD without trauma: Neither of the two sources that suggest DID can only be caused by trauma mention OSDD at all.
You can't be a system without DID/OSDD: None of the sources suggest you need DID/OSDD to be a system or to be plural.
So far, you've failed to prove you can't be a system without DID or OSDD. You've failed to show you can't have OSDD without trauma. And the case for DID being exclusive to trauma frankly looks weaker than before you started talking.
Incredible work so far!!!
And I mean that in the way that nothing about this is remotely credible!
Tumblr media
Ugh. There is SO much wrong here. First, no sources for their claims about tulpamancy.
Now, tulpamancy draws its name from a Tibetan Buddhist practice called sprul pa.
This is not the same practice though. And the Tibetan Buddhist practice is NOT CALLED TULPAMANCY.
Something which should be obvious to anyone who knows even the most basic facts about language, with the -mancy suffix being derived from Latin. And tulpamancy as a practice generally isn't religious.
From Dr. Samuel Veissiere of McGill University:
The community is primarily divided between so-called psychological and metaphysical explanatory principles. In the psychological community, neuroscience (or folk neuroscience) is the explanation of choice. Tulpas are understood as mental constructs that have achieved sentience. The metaphysical explanation holds that Tulpas are agents of supernatural origins that exist outside the hosts’ minds, and who come to communicate with them. Of 118 respondents queried on the question, 76.5% identified with the psychological explanation, 8.5% with the metaphysical, and 14% with a variety of “other” explanations, such as a mixture of psychological and metaphysical.
When discussing the research into tulpamancy, we're not discussing a religious or spiritual practice that's been validated by psychologists.
We're talking about a primarily psychological practice that's been validated by psychologists.
And as for the DSM quote, it confirms that religious practices aren't a disorder. Cool. But it also implies that religious practices can result in multiple distinct personality states. Hence why they needed that criterion. It's not stated as explicitly in the DSM as in the ICD, but the implication is there, especially when taken together.
Whether you call these "alters" or not is up to you. Most endogenic systems aren't using the word "alter" to describe their headmates.
But regardless of the word, what the research is showing is that there are multiple phenomena which can result in people having multiple self-conscious agents sharing the same body.
Tumblr media
I mean, you've still done a really bad job at showing DID and OSDD form purely from trauma, with many of your sources straight up saying the opposite.
And remember, a lot of mixed origin systems will say that their other headmates aren't caused by or related to their disorder. And there are documented cases of people with DID both having alters associated with DID, and having non-aversive entities they commune with outside of that, as Kluft references in this paper:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The woman he describes here, who experienced ceding control to another entity who talked through her, would qualify as a mixed origin system in the modern plural community.
Tumblr media
SIX OF YOUR EIGHT SOURCES LEFT THE DOOR OPEN FOR DID TO FORM WITHOUT TRAUMA!
NONE CLAIMED OSDD COULD ONLY COME FROM TRAUMA!
NONE CLAIMED YOU NEEDED DID OR OSDD TO BE PLURAL!
Your sources are NOT claiming what you think they're claiming!!!!!!!
If this is "all the proof you need," to say endogenic systems aren't valid, it's clear you were only ever interested in confirming your worldview.
But surely you can't seriously think this will convince anyone who isn't already indoctrinated!
Tumblr media
Not even addressing this in full. It's such a blatant strawman that it's not worth my time.
There are similarities between plurality and being LGBTQ. Especially to the many trans systems out there who are seeing anti-endos use the same rhetoric that transmeds have. Or like you did earlier, are endorsing the same types of views that led to homosexuality being pathologized until the 70s. But nobody is saying it's the exactly the same!
Tumblr media
I'm not sure what this is specifically referring to. But it might be about the line in the differential diagnosis for DID in the PTSD section where it's stated DID may not be preceded by trauma or have co-occurring PTSD symptoms.
Tumblr media
It does also say in another section that DID is associated with trauma, but it never actually says that's the only way to get DID.
Tumblr media
This is a straight-up lie. Most sources used by endogenic systems are less than a decade old, with some being as recent as 2023.
Here's the breakdown of some of the dates in @guardianssystem's doc, for reference:
Tumblr media
I mean, I feel like part of the reason nobody has been able to disprove it is because a lot of its more specific claims have been really hard to test.
But that's neither here nor there.
The bigger issue you'll run into is that the creators of the theory you're citing have stated that there may be other ways for people to be plural. Or as they phrased it, having "conscious and self-conscious dissociated parts."
Tumblr media
The above quote is from two of the three authors of The Haunted Self, the creators of the theory of the structural dissociation.
The TOSD is made to propose a way trauma can cause dissociative disorders to develop. But it does NOT suggest you need to have dissociative disorders to be plural, and I doubt the authors appreciated their work being twisted like that
Final Grade:
F-
This started with three goals.
Let's look back at them one last time.
You can't possibly have DID without trauma.
You can't possibly have OSDD without trauma.
You can't be a system without DID/OSDD.
By the end of this, have any of these claims successfully been proven?
I don't feel they have.
The first claim is what all the sources tried to focus on. But most of the sources didn't say that and didn't support it. All but two implied that DID could possibly form other ways.
And for the others? Nothing suggests OSDD can only be caused by trauma.
And you failed to provide any sources that suggested you couldn't be plural without DID and OSDD.
You completely and utterly failed to find decent sources to back up your claims, and to make a compelling case for them, at every conceivable juncture.
If I were you, I would be embarrassed to have put out something of such poor quality.
What have we learned:
Non-disordered and endogenic plurality has been supported and validated across the psychological field, including the World Health Organization's ICD-11 and Trasngender Mental Health which has been reviewed and published by the American Psychiatric Association.
The creators of the theory of structural dissociation believe it might be possible that "self-conscious dissociative parts of the personality" might form without trauma and that this needs to be further researched.
Tulpamancy is a mostly psychological practice that has been studied and validated by psychologists.
Anti-endos are really bad at sources.
Conversely, the majority of endogenic sources are actual peer reviewed academic papers. And contrary to false claims here, many of the papers are actually very recent.

You guys wanna know when the things I wished for, hoped for, visualized and manifested actually started to appear to me, to become my reality? When I understood and learned how to ENJOY THE PROCESS!
Let’s yap a bit… ;)
Tumblr media
Us as immediate people in an immediate society end up focusing entirely on the results, we only see the things we wish for as results, as finish lines. What we fail to do is see the start line and the path that leads to the end.
I don’t want to sound corny, but it’s really all about that Hannah Montana movie song “The Climb”. We only think about how fast we will get there, how life will be when we get there, how happy it will be when we get there. Well, here’s the thing: if you’re not happy and grateful throughout the way, don’t even expect to be happy on the finish line. Our goals are not essentially what make us happy, they’re proofs of our capacity and work. What actually makes someone’s life happy and amazing, is the way that person behaves and conditions their mind WHILE chasing all of these dreams. It’s all about your methods, it’s all about your feelings, your reactions to the world, the way you act towards people. Don’t think you’ll be happy and achieve the greatest things when you live your life and answer to the world bitterly, in a rush, not paying much mind to it.
I know this is obvious, but just so that no one is confused and comes for me after: I’m not saying every day is going to be incredible, I’m not saying that you’re not allowed to be sad, angry, uncomfortable, jealous, disgusted. These are all perfectly normal and human emotions, and everyone should feel them—it just shows you’re alive. This concept of being 24/7 happy and grateful and “Oh my God, everything’s incredible all the time” it’s just not sustainable nor healthy (+, obviously, not real). What we should do, instead, is allow these emotions to be felt, and then act upon them understanding why they’re there and how we can soothe them, or make them a little less strong. For example, understand where your anger comes from, is it truly someone’s fault, why are we feeling it. Not block it, not try to stop it from being felt—but understand it. And then, after thinking (even meditating, if you like) about it, let it go, and let it be felt still, if you think it’s the right thing. Don’t ask too much of yourself always, sometimes we really just need to scream for a second on our pillow or shed a tear in our room. It’s perfectly alright and also healthy!
Have fun, make friends, create good memories with these friends, study, live your life to the fullest. Meet new people, go to new places, discover new music, books, art, movies that make you feel something. Laugh with people you love, create memories through pictures, do some risky things, you don’t need to always be so careful about everything. Some lesions make us stronger. And while you’re doing everything else, manifest your dreams, work towards it, put in the effort, visualize, believe you’re worth and destined for that, acknowledge you already have everything you need to get there and that, actually, you already have it.
Learn to actually live your life on the way to your dreams, not just survive the path. When you look at life with gratitude and love, life looks back—and you’ll feel it.
Tumblr media
As always, you’re free to agree or disagree with me on the various topics I talk about. It’s my own experience and the way it’s been for me. Feel free to also share your stories on comments and/or reblogs! I’ll love to see it.
That’s it for today’s yapping session. Love, Seiko ♡

So I l’ve been getting into your ko crisis story lately (it all sounds rlly awesome btw) and i was curious - you’ve said in the tags in a previous ask that ash is comphet, so is that gonna play a major role in her character arc/journey in any way?
Yeah, the story basically covers her journey of redefining her identity as a queer Asian-American disabled woman in a sports-entertainment industry, which is a media landscape that specifically targets, exploits, and fetishizes people like her.
#ask me#itsthequeercryptid#i don't have much more to say on this cuz as of right now it's in like. early early development process and i'm not a queer woman so#i don't have much authority to say how i want this part of the story to go. even if it's my story i don't wanna set anything in stone yknow#but like. ashley's arc is realizing that she's been performing to appease people both in and out of her life. as both a daughter and a#pro boxer. and that she shouldn't have to force herself to be someone she's not. which in the story continuously hurts her#she doesn't need to validate her existence and find worthiness as a disabled and queer woman#especially to other people#one story beat i drafted is that ashley nearly gets s/a'd by a potential agent (keep in mind the project's inspired by psychological dramas#thrillers like utena and perfect blue) and it's one of the first big moments that causes her to have a crisis of identity#growing less and less comfortable in her skin - both organic and nonorganic - as she realizes how her body is perceived/ exploited/#/objectified as a vehicle for inflicting and absorbing violence. both physical and sexual. especially by men#and near the end of the story the beat is reflected/flipped when she comes together with noora and it's gentle and intimate#but again this is all very iffy. i'm not sure how appropriate this would be as a male writer.#i'm waiting to work with other writers who are more knowledgable on this before moving forward with anything

ack finally caught you guys open <333 thanks for all your work! I was wondering if you have any newer longer fics with realistic characterisation and writing (similar to profenity’s works maybe?) and also any non-fox Neil/andrew fics? Thank you!And sorry for the tall order;;🙏
You’ll find an abundance of non-fox andreil in our recent Staff Recs: Writers post. On our tags page under AUs, explore the shops and jobs sections or other themes from fantasy to band aus.
Fandom writer profenity is known for long, meaty explorations of canon characters and themes. Their ongoing WIP ‘The Unkindness of Ravens’ has more than 380k words and 12k+ kudos! Find it in this Raven!Neil to Fox ask under former writing name crazy_like_a. The author interacts with fans on tumblr @hopingforcoordinates.
We’ve featured or referred to profenity’s ‘Lessons in Cartography’ and sequel ‘The Cartographer and the World’ in many asks. I’m listing some as a doorway to similar works. For something newer, try the Kevin-centric ‘A Falling Star’ series, featured here. If this answer seems cobbled together — it is. This is my subjective, limited attempt at catching lightning in a bottle. -A
check out other works in these asks that feature profenity’s ‘Lessons’ series:
must read fandom classics here
post canon continuation of The King’s Men here
Neil fights with Jack here
andreil exploring feelings, intimacy and sexuality here
in character andreil smut here
small selection of ‘not new’ recs:
‘Hold me close, in fact bury me’ and ‘Trust Fall (And Welcoming Arms)’ here
‘Black As Is The Raven, He’ll Get A Partner’ here
‘progress comes in small steps’ series here
‘Inked Truths’ series here
‘Baltimore Blues’ here
long recs for a return to fandom here
A Falling Star series by NikNak22 [Rated M/E, 245011 words, 3 complete works, Updated Nov 2023]
NB: the author credits inspiration to ‘To Be Certain We'll Be Tall Again’ by fullyvisible, featured here, now complete.
Part 1: Dead of Night (E, 101589 words) It’s Kevin’s senior year at PSU, and things are…okay. But that changes when a single question from a nosy reporter sends his life spiraling. The descent is slow and maddening – memories and trauma from his past weave together to form the image of the man that stands there today. As Kevin begins to look around him with a new and critical eye, though, he’s no longer sure that man is who he wants to be. So the question is - when faced with the truth, is it a case of Kevin finally getting what he deserves? Or is it about time to prove a lot of people (including himself) wrong? Aka the fic that’s all about Kevin Day.

Just two little boys about to go out and face the big, wide world. So Kevin searches until both of his hands find one of theirs. He doesn’t look at them, though he feels their gazes on him. He just breathes deeply and closes his eyes. Then he squeezes their hands as he tells them, “I can’t wait to see what you’ll do next.” AKA the highs and lows of Kevin’s life after graduation and into the Pros.

Part 3: In the Light of Day (E, 91057) It’s been almost five years since Kevin graduated from PSU. Five years that he's played Exy professionally. Five years since he’s learned to live on his own. Five years after discovering he’s in love with his best friends, former USC Trojans Jeremy Knox and Jean Moreau. Five years since he’s figured out, they will never love him back. So, when Jeremy and Jean invite him to their house for Christmas this year, he knows this is it. It’s the finale. The last hurrah. The swan song. The final act. It’s time he lets them go, lets this foolish, one-sided love go, once and for all. But he might find this is harder than he ever expected.

Traumatic psychology/psychiatry experience flag
[PT: Traumatic psychology/psychiatry experience flag /END PT]
A awareness flag for those who experienced trauma with psychology or psychiatry, and also those who don’t have trauma with it but bad experiences. This is in honor for people who tried to cure their neurodivergence but psychology or psychiatry harmed them in some way, people who had terrible experiences with therapy, and etc.
I decided to make this flag, because we aren’t represented and our experiences are almost always invalidated and ignored even by other neurodivergent people! We have our own right of choice to not recover or seek other ways to heal ourselves, whatever makes us more happy!
Tumblr media
[IMAGE ID: The image features a lilac and white checkered or grid pattern filling a square-shaped frame. At the center of the image, there's a white square that contains the psychology symbol. The design conveys a sense of simplicity and elegance. /END ID]
Lilac and white are typical colors of healing, it represents our internal or external alternative healing methods. Psychology symbol with an X in it shows that we’re tired, we don’t want to be in a harmful environment anymore
Please this is a coining blog, discourse isn’t allowed.

Dimensions of Fronting
In my Manifestations post, I used fronting as a catch-all term for any sort of physical attachment to the body.
I'd like to delve into that a bit more here, exploring language to better explain individual experiences of fronting and control over the body.
This isn't really intended for every day use, but is meant to better explain plural experiences of fronting in a more clear and more precise way.
Full body vs Locational Attachment
Tumblr media
Full body attachment is, as expected, attachment to the entire body at once.
Locational Attachment is attachment to specific body parts such as only a hand or just the legs. When referencing locational attachment, it's usually useful to refer to the part of the body one is attached to.
Efferent vs Afferent Attachment
Tumblr media
Besides simply being locational, attachment can come in afferent and efferent forms. Some nerves send signals from the brain to the body. Other nerves in the brain receive signals from the body.
Nerves responsible for sending signals from the brain to the body are called efferent nerves. These allow you to control the body. Nerves responsible for receiving signals are afferent. These allow you to sense things through the body.
Attachment can exist in both forms separately.
If a headmate feels like they're experiencing everything happening to the body but feel like somebody else is controlling it, they're experiencing afferent attachment with efferent detachment.
If a headmate is controlling the body but feels disconnected, as if everything is happening to somebody else, this is efferent attachment with afferent detachment.
Alternative Terminology:
The terms above are more technical, designed to help conceptualize the dimensions of fronting. For everyday use, I would recommend Possession and Attunement.
Possession referring to taking control of the body, attunement to receiving signals from its senses as if they were your own.
Solitary Attachment vs Shared Attachment and Co-fronting
Tumblr media
Any of previous attachment types may be experienced by multiple headmates at once. Multiple headmates feel like the whole body is theirs and share control over it simultaneously. Shared attachment can also be over specific limbs, where multiple headmates feel like the limb is theirs at once.
If only one headmate feels attached to the body or limb, this is solitary attachment.
When multiple headmates are controlling the body, this is usually called co-fronting.
How to use the language?
One thing I often struggle with is putting our experiences into words.
A lot of plural language is vague and has multiple conflicting meanings. Part of an issue with having such a large community made up of many smaller communities.
What one person means when they say they're fronting may not be what another means.
This allows us to more easily describe and compare different plural experiences.
For example, a distinction for our partial possession vs our proxying.
When I partially possess an arm, I fully experience that arm as if it's mine. I experience both afferent and efferent locational attachment to that specific limb. If using possession and attunement terms, this may also be considered Attuned Locational Possession or Partial Attuned Possession.
In contrast, when proxying (typing while somebody else is fronting,) I don't feel like the hand belongs to me. I send signals through them, the words typed out are mine and coming from me, but the fronter still experiences the hands as if the hands belong to the fronter. I experience a locational efferent attachment (sending motor signals) and afferent detachment (an absence of sensor signals) to the hands, while the fronter may experience afferent attachment and efferent detachment to the hands. This can also be considered a form of Unattuned Locational Possession of the hands.
Breaking it down!
Full body Attachment and Detachment:
"I'm in complete control of the body, everything that happens to it is happening to me."
Full Fronting (full body efferent and afferent attachment.)
"I'm in control but everything feels like it's happening to someone else, as if I'm outside the body."
Complete Unattuned Possession (full body efferent attachment and afferent detachment.)
"I can feel everything but it's as if someone else is controlling my actions and making me act things out."
Complete non-possessive Attunement (full body efferent detachment and afferent attachment.)
"I'm a spectator watching while someone else controls my body. Everything that happens is happening to them and I just exist in the background."
Complete Detachment (full body efferent and afferent detachment.)
Partial Attachment and Detachment:
"I have total control over this limb, and feel through it as if it's mine."
Partial Attuned Possession (localized efferent and afferent attachment.)
"I can control this limb but I feel like it's someone else's and don't feel these sensations are happening to me."
Partial Unattuned Possession.(localized efferent attachment and afferent detachment.)
"I can feel through this part of the body as if it's mine, but I have no control over it."
Partial non-possessive Attunement (localized efferent detachment and afferent attachment.)
"I can't control this limb and I feel like it belongs to someone else."
Partial Detachment (localized efferent and afferent detachment.)
Things to consider...
While writing this, there were some experiences that were hard to categorize. This is especially true of unconscious reactions. If you tickle a headmate's mindform who is co-con but not fronting, and their reaction causes the body to jolt, do these sorts of automatic and unconscious reactions constitute a form of Efferent Attachment?
This model is still not comprehensive. But I believe it's a good starting place for understanding fronting experiences.

even in pro-endo communities (even if to a lesser extent, it's still very much there--see the theorizing on how systemhopping "actually" works for just one example), we've found there to be a major problem with boiling down all plural experiences to be inherently psychological, especially (but not solely!) when it comes to those with CDDs. which is extremely uncomfortable as a primarily metaphysical gateway collective that happens to also have DID.
we're open about our functioning on our blog, but holy hell it's exhausting to have to see people who should be our allies and siblings in arms treat us like we don't know how we "actually" function because we don't have much in the way of a psychological basis beyond our DID connecting those of us in the collective into a hivemind. you're (general you, aimed at those who do this) acting exactly like the anti-endos who say endogenic systems just "don't remember their trauma"

I don’t think being a Nesta fan automatically makes you abusive.
However I do think that her fans that specifically are unable to recognize her abuse and treat it as something she should be praised for or thinks she should have been harsher have some questionable morals when it comes to abuse.
Praising abuse in fiction does speak to who you are as a person.

Snapetober Day 4 - Home
Based on this engrossing article I was reading a few days ago whose thesis centers around the idea that the major flaw in Dumbledore's plan was refusing to tell Severus about the Elder Wand, to give him a chance at a future life free from spiritual burden. It's a really emotional read which uncovers many beautiful symbolic parallels - highly recommend it!
August, 1998
“They look better, my boy. I’m sure they will fade eventually.”
Severus did not reply. He wasn’t looking at the portrait, or at anything, really: there was nothing in that damned office he wished to see even a minute longer. Anything related to this place made him feel nauseous. Disgusted.
The painting, above him, cleared his throat.
“And what are you planning to do now, Severus?” The painted Dumbledore peered at him carefully, lowering his head slightly. “You are very young still. You have your whole life in front of you.”
Still, no reply.
“I have made some arrangements”, Albus continued hesitantly, his tone humble. “Funding. For your research.”
“You have what?” Severus snapped.
None of the surrounding portraits uttered the slightest protest at this tone, clearly used to Severus' colourful, and often justified, outbursts: it was a testimony to the long-established, tumultuous relationship between the Slytherin and former headmaster.
“I figured this is what you’d like to do”, Albus replied tentatively. “More experiments - publications. You could stay at Hogwarts, too: take whatever post you’d like. Or simply remain in your quarters, on research leave -”
“I don’t want your money, Dumbledore”, Severus cut acidly.
The man in the portrait clasped his hands compulsively.
He was nervous, it seemed.
A strange development.
“Severus, it was not my intention-”
“Why didn’t you tell me about the Elder Wand, Albus? You could have. It would have made everything easier. Less precarious. It was the flaw in your plan, you knew it - or rather, when your plans went awry, sharing that knowledge would have allowed us to correct them. Why... didn’t you tell me?”
There was a short pause, during which Dumbledore, for a rare few seconds, seemed at a loss for words.
“You were to become its master”, the old man eventually replied, slowly. “I did not wish you to be burdened with this. You deserved a fresh start in life, free from the weight of such a deadly instrument.”
The younger man’s facial muscles contracted. He closed his eyes, and Dumbledore dared not speak again.
“You put everything, everything at risk, so that I could live on without – but I was to live without you, wasn’t I? Having killed you, and lied for you, and given everything to you - but you, you couldn’t put your damn feelings aside, what you ask of others you cannot do yourself – and you expect me to accept this, to take back a job here, to go on? You dare look at me and talk to me about a life – do you know how many died?”
This time, it was he who was looking at the portrait, and the portrait that was looking away.
After all these years, shame had finally changed sides.
“I can never forgive you for this, Dumbledore”, Severus said quietly. “Never”.
A pause.
“I understand.”
Could portraits cry, too?
“I just wanted… I wanted to give you a real home here after everything, Severus", the painting whispered. "A safe home. No charge, no duty - just a home.”
Severus turned on his heel. He couldn't - he just couldn't.
But at the threshold, he stopped, his hand on the door handle. He closed his eyes again, breathing in and then out: something was happening. He welcomed the feeling; he examined it carefully.
Coming from the bottom of his soul, a wave of relief rushed over the farthest corners of his inner self, extinguishing the cold fury that had, a moment before, threatened to burst out with brutish strength. His gaze remained fixated on the handle.
This was the last time, he realised.
The last time.
He looked back.
“This was never my home, Albus. You of all people should know that.”
And he left, and the painted eyes followed his silhouette until it disappeared, they lingered where he had stood. Their bearer, though not quite alive, felt something akin to grief spread in his chest; and he looked and looked and kept looking at the staircase where Severus had gone, muttering to himself quietly, obsessively: can you ever forgive me for loving you so?
-
Minerva watched silently as he came down the staircase, a curtain of black hair hiding his face.
Severus had asked her to wait for him here; to listen to what he had to say.
His gaze met hers. He nodded.
It was rather strange, and he refused to confront the fact as of now, but since the war had ended, he felt… weak. Scared. Fragile.
Lost, too.
He also felt, and that was not a paradox, revengeful. He had not found in him the strength to confront Albus one more time without the knowledge that Minerva was near, for some stupid or cowardly reason - but it had also felt strangely satisfying to know, as he was speaking with the man, that she was there, very near, that she could hear it all.
That there were no more secrets; that Albus was the only one to not know she was here.
She smiled at him encouragingly, but he did not smile back. She climbed a few steps and reached out to him, pressing his hand into hers for a second.
“You did well.”
“I lied to him.”
“It is your right.”
“I mean – I lied to him, when I said Hogwarts is not my home. I think it is. Despite everything.”
Because a home could be unsafe; it could let you down, repeatedly; it could turn against you, watch you lose yourself and drown almost completely, and yet be the only homely place you've ever known.
When fear, threat and loneliness become a habit, they start to bring comfort, too.
Slowly, with movements that could only be described as motherly, Minerva pulled him in a tight embrace. She felt his body relax, and she held him tighter still, vaguely hoping that the longer this lasted, the more relief she could bring him.
“It is time for you to leave home, Severus. It is time for you to breathe.”
