A/N: Hi @arcsimper5! I’m so relieved to know that the person claiming to be Scorch in TBB was in fact an identity thief, and that the real Scorch is safe and happy and hanging out with Sev, whom he scooped up from Kashyyyk as soon as Scorch flipped the Empire the bird and dipped after Order 66. This ficlet takes place shortly before the brothers reunite. 💛💛💛

Pairing: Scorch x Reader (GN, has a pet vulptex named Lyca because I really want a pet vulptex and I would name her Lyca)

Scorch lurched forward, his eyes snapping open before he even realized he was awake. Sweat beaded on his skin as he sat up in bed, and he shoved the blankets away, suddenly overheated and overwhelmed with claustrophobia. He heard a faint tinkling sound followed by a small whimper as your pet vulptex nuzzled him gently, her cold nose bringing him back to his body. 

“Hey, Lyca,” he gasped. 

He gave her a reassuring pat, then scrubbed his hand over his head, blinking hard as he tried to get his bearings in the darkened bedroom. His thumb traced over the smooth scar where his inhibitor chip had been removed, a grim reminder of a terrifying reality.

The sheets rustled, and he knew he’d awakened you. Kriff.

“Scorch?” you murmured hoarsely, reaching for him. “Are you all right?”

Your hand rested on his shoulder, solid and comforting, and he reached for it with his own, holding onto you tightly, afraid that if he let go you might vanish into nothingness.

“Yeah,” he lied. “Just a bad dream.”

You were quiet for a moment, then you sat up and scooted closer, wrapping your arms around him. “Kashyyyk?”

He nodded, burying his face into the nook between your neck and shoulder as he clung to you. He mumbled against your skin as you stroked your hand up the back of his neck to tangle your fingers in his hair.

“Hm?” you asked as you pressed your lips against his head.

“I miss him so much,” he repeated, squeezing his eyes shut tight to keep the stinging tears from falling.

“I know,” you whispered. “I know you do. We’ll find him, I swear to you. We’ll get him back.”

“I should have gone back,” he choked as his throat constricted with grief. “I should have—”

“Stop,” you said firmly. “What happened was not your fault.”

“But—”

“It wasn’t.” You tightened your arms around him, holding him close. “You can’t keep blaming yourself like this, or it’s going to eat you alive.”

“Then whose fault is it?”

“It doesn’t matter,” you replied. “All that matters is what we do now. You told me you think Sev is still alive, right?”

“I know he is,” he said. “I can feel it.”

“Then he needs you to be on top of your game.” You kissed the side of his head again, then whispered, “I am here for you. I will do whatever you need me to do. But I can’t do it alone. We’ll get through this together, and we will find him, I promise.”

Slowly, he nodded, then pulled away just enough to look into your eyes as they glittered subtly in the semi-darkness. He rested his forehead against yours as he sighed, “I don’t deserve you.”

“You deserve better,” you said quietly as your lips brushed against his in the lightest kiss imaginable. “You deserve everything I can give, and more.”

You're not wrong, but all the gods are terrible in Blood of Zeus. It's why Gaea goes scorched earth.

Actually, I'd argue that we only see a case for the older Olympians* being terrible and even then, it's not all of them: Poseidon, for one, is a really good example of someone who understood that mistakes were made, that something had to give, and was more that ready to set old conflicts aside in order to move forward in the wake of Zeus' death. Hera also seems to be genuinely reflective and apologetic for the crimes she wrought and wanted, more than anything, to be given the opportunity to make amends for her actions by doing the one thing everyone thought she never could; give up her power.

Going down the line, the talking point of "oh, all the gods in Blood of Zeus are terrible" becomes weaker and weaker: Apollo's only actual crime is being too filial/his contempt of Hera, but he shows more compassion and understanding than anything - both while comforting Electra about the nature of her son and by welcoming and supporting Heron, Hermes is also similarly shown with a very strong familial loyalty, but prioritises his work above all else, Hephaestus is a councillor and assistant, Athena is protective and shown, not only rallying together her siblings in order to properly inform them of the nature of the foe they were facing (even when they had been on different sides of the Hera/Zeus conflict and even when it casts Hera in a good light and plainly makes it known that she's being framed) but also getting Persephone to fess up her part in the scheme without resorting to violence.

The only gods that were portrayed poorly in Season 2 were Ares, who feels like he'd be better off being called Damian Wayne with how intensely he's preoccupied with blood purity and being Zeus' legitimate son, Aphrodite who sides with him (but even then is shown feeling ill at ease at going along with his treachery prior to the Eleusinian Stone trial), and Demeter who is so far removed from simply 'being an asshole' that she's hurtled headfirst into being a sadistic supervillain.

(Of course Hades is also a tyrant and an asshole but I also consider him too wishy-washy and inconsistent to figure out what angle they were trying to take with him. I can't think of him as good or bad, merely confusing)

Anyway, I think people hold on to the idea that the gods in BoZ are all assholes too closely because Heron and Seraphim, our main characters, hold on to the idea that ALL gods are assholes due to being the pawn of -counts on fingers- exactly two of them. With the exception of Ares, all of the other gods have been nothing but welcoming and supportive of Heron! And what Hades does to Heron in S2 has nothing to do with his feelings about Heron himself but rather with his own goals and desperations that have been multiplied by Demeter's machinations and his own frustrations at being unable to keep his family together.

I would love to let you know that I have been slowly working away at a Bad Batch fanfic called “Shattered and Repaired”, that is a Tech lives what-if AU story. I used to be a hardcore Tech lives truther, even after the finale, but I ended up needing to accept his death because it was destroying me mentally and gave me some maybe harmful thoughts :’D I’m good now that I am no longer delusional, but my concepts for how he might have lived I was quite proud of so I started making the story. When is it going to come out? No clue, I am still on the prologue.

Anyways… I know I alot of people complained on how Scorch was treated in the show. They said they made him a soulless character who had no purpose to the story other than being Hemlock’s guard and was given an unfair and meaningless death. I never played Republic Commandos so I don’t know much about Delta Squad, but I do kinda wish Scorch had more importance to the plot, that he and other commandos should have been a bigger threat to the main crew. But I am not completely complaining, I don’t mind his personality change. A whole lot of clones, not just Scorch, ended up loosing themselves, their true selves to the Empire. And I though I’d share a small little sneak peek from the prologue of “Shattered and Repaired” explaining that ^w^

Whatever things he did for the Empire ate him away, being alone, the inhibitor chip making him a tool without choice! I also found it interesting how before in the game he had some beat up and weathered looking armor but had such a fun demeanor, and how the Empire swapped it. In TBB, his armor was clean. But his true self is gone. Sad, but I find it important to how he turned out in the show, and makes it more understandable.

In conclusion… Would anyone want me to post my fanfics here on Tumblr? I have already been sharing them on DeviantArt but it seems like I am able to post them here, too! Though I would like you to know that majority of these fanfics will be Kirby, not Star Wars. I have been part of the Kirby fandom longer than I have TCW and TBB.

Okay okay because we all know the last episode is called “the Calvary has Arrived” here’s my idea as to what’s going to happen…

Hunter, Wrecker, and Crosshair finally get the coordinates to tantiss curtesy of clone x (tech) he broke his conditioning or they capture him and discoverer it’s him. Either way he plays a critical role in recovering omega. Echo and Rex and howzer and all the other clones help because it’s tantiss, it’s the one place they want to know where it is, it’s important. They storm the base yada yada yada and boom hemlock is there, but at this point project necromancer (whatever it is) is almost or already complete because they have omega and she’s a key part in it. Something blows up and of course anyone of the batch is in the line of fire except another batcher, whoever it is. And they won’t let another one of their own go so soon. Either way someone’s going to either almost get hurt or get hurt and another one is going to sacrifice themselves or get left behind (as is customary with bb endings).

I've got Scorched Au Kai on the brain and I'm going just a little bit insane about him /pos

I just love thinking about him and his downward spiral. His Green Ninja obsession started pretty much how it did in canon, by wanting to be the best ninja of the group and wanting the important destiny that came with the title. But then after the volcano, it kinda morphs into him wanting to prove himself better than the others out of anger and spite.

He feels abandoned and rejected by the others and no attempts at explaining the situation is gonna change Kai's mind. He starts going to drastic measures to prove he's powerful, to prove everyone else wrong. He beats up anyone who gets in his way, he burns down villages, he even learns dark magic to become stronger. All of this to prove that he is the Green Ninja.

But as it keeps going, his motivations change again. Kai becomes even more desperate to prove himself. He HAS to be the Green Ninja. So many people have been hurt, so much destruction has crossed his path, but he did it all to prove himself. If all the destruction happened because it was Kai proving he was the Green Ninja, then it was all for the greater good.

But if Kai isn't the Green Ninja, then he did all of that for nothing. So he has to be the Green Ninja, because how is he supposed to live with himself knowing that everything he did, all the people he hurt, all the peaceful nights he refused to sleep because he needed to do more, all the damage he's done to everyone around him and himself, was for nothing?

I think it's very characteristic of Eiffel that regret over the accident is a major driver of his character - it informs his insistence on not hurting people and his desire to find goodness/capacity for change in others - but also he's still selfish and careless and gets the people around him hurt. It's like how he respects and cares for Minkowski and still says her name wrong. He tries, and then he stops.
