PSA for educators-
You will not be able to teach your students the faults of AI just by repeating talking points about how it's bad.
You are going to have to USE AI in order to understand where the faults are. Yes, that means spending time playing with ChatGPT and Character.AI or whatever other AI happens to be in vogue with the kids. AI is a learning algorithm, which means it is constantly shifting its behavior. Some of its flaws get patched only for new issues to arise. However, once you get to know the machine, it becomes easier and easier to trip it up.
People are more likely to believe AI is faulty and can't be used as a research source after they see it fail repeatedly. And in order to make it fail in front of others, you will have to know how to use it and tease it.
Don't worry about environmental impact. There's a lot of nonsense claims about AI using five gallons of water per prompt or other scary sounding numbers which is just not true. Most AIs can be run on the processing power of an average gaming PC, there's already hobbyists who have open source AIs installed directly on their machines and get it to work with their usual processing power.
Educating people is far more important than using a little electricity to gain some knowledge.

If you read that second poster and are like "dang that sounds great but my GP/PT/specialist doesn't understand what I want" the magic word you're looking for is "palliative" care. Ask to take a palliative approach or for a referral to palliative care.
(I work with animals and have to tell people frequently:) Palliative care is NOT the same as hospice, but it's more of a redefinition of what a problem is.
In most cases, medically a problem is like "left hip partially dislocates all the time" ("chronic recurrent coxofemoral subluxation") and the medical management is aimed at fixing or improving that issue. Success is measured in maybe degrees of movement added to the range of motion without it popping out. If you could move your hip 10% of the way a normal person could and now it's 20%, that's improvement!
In palliative care, you redefine the problem as "I can't get upstairs" or "my pain isn't controlled enough for me to sleep". The problem is how your life is impacted and the medical management is aimed at alleviating THAT. A stair lift, a cane, a brace, PT specifically focused on stability on stairs? Extra pain meds, or a sleep aid, or a hospital bed?
The 2 approaches are far from mutually exclusive - but having someone in your care team to advocate for "how does this serve the patient's stated goals" is really valuable.
You know what? It’s fucking hard trying to get better. It’s exhausting managing doctors appointments, doing daily PT exercises, eating better, trying to exercise, trying to meditate, and doing ADL’s. I have had a bad crash per week trying to juggle and do all of the above.
It’s easier and less acutely painful to just coast and not actively work on ‘getting better’. Is the work worth it? I don’t know yet.
But to people who’ve tried and given up, to those who don’t even bother - you still deserve care and compassion.

Im making a neocities to replace and improve upon this blog. Very exciting development
#sometimes i feel like a town crier but like#only for things that interest me personally#like just a dude on horseback riding through town at 4am like#''I GOT MY TAX RETURN BACK. IT WAS $103.''#and people go back to sleep#anyway coding is both easier than i ever thought and also very very hard#like#very easy to do super super basic stuff#and people have done a lot of work to make it super easy to get started#there are html generators i found that do the basic foundation leg work for you to start#(super appreciate the people who made those)#and doing small basic edits to a pre existing code is easy#but uh#things get so much more complex#and when you KNOW theres a small error somewhere but you cant find it???#finding the error is like. lowkey brain melting#keeping track of everything when its still in progress is hard#and alao tbh ive always struggled to like#perceive the concept of software#like theres just this disconnect in my head#i have a brick of plastic and metal in my hand#and i can generally understand how it was constructed in specific ways to channel electric charges in a way to cause certain effects#but then the idea that you have this lengthy hypothetical and nontangible logic exercise just. SOMEHOW contained within it.#and that is the key to the physical item doing what you want it to#my brain just really struggles with that#so talking about code too in depth confuses me no matter how accessibly its phrased#just. its a math problem. its word problems. its logic problems. i can solve puzzles.#i cannot comprehend the continuum between the thought puzzles and the chunk of physical material in my hands#anyway#devilman am i right

              become the laziest shifter ,
shifting is not a labour camp. you are not laying bricks. you are not a victorian chimney sweep, coughing up soot and hoping the foreman doesn't notice you pausing for breath. shifting is supposed to be effortless.
    here's how to become one.
ʚ  stop trying so hard. seriously. shifting is not an algebra equation that needs solving. the more you obsess, the more you reinforce the idea that shifting is difficult, that it requires strain. it doesn't. it's like falling asleep. easy, natural, inevitable. you don't need to ‘do' shifting. you just allow it.
start ditching the obsession with techniques. they are tools, not commandments. if a method feels like a second job, drop it. some people shift while blinking. others shift mid-sneeze. some wake up shifted. some never have to think about it at all. you're allowed to be one of those people. shifting doesn't reward effort, it rewards ease.
people who shift aren't ‘lucky.' they just decide they've already won. embrace the delusion. belief isn't something you prove; it's something you wear like an expensive coat. you don't need external validation. your reality is dictated by you, not by polls or peer reviews.
stop tensing up in bed like you're about to undergo surgery. roll over like you've just been fed grapes by hand and have never known stress. get comfortable. let go. do you think nero worried about his shifting technique? no. he just made a decree and the world bent to him. you are your own emperor. decree your reality.
shifting doesn't need to feel like a cosmic event. no need for vibrating, levitating, the heavens parting. sometimes it's quiet. lose the expectation of ‘fireworks.'  sometimes it's like slipping into warm water, seamless and smooth. don't wait for ‘proof'. just shift.
stop acting like reality is a prison cell. you are not ‘trapped'. you are not ‘stuck'. you're just sitting in one room when you could walk into another. no chains, no locks, just a door.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
or how to . . become the laziest manifestor ,
manifesting is not an unpaid internship. you are not earning it through blood, sweat, and desperate scripting at 3 a.m. manifesting is a birthright. a casual shrug. a ‘wouldn't it be funny if. oh, look, it happened.' you are not grinding for your desires.
so let's talk about getting everything you want.
⭑  in its core, manifesting is just deciding. it is not a scavenger hunt. it is not an exam. it is not a ‘what if'. it is a ‘this is.' people who get what they want simply assume it's already theirs. they don't waver. they don't worry. they don't ‘hope,' they know.
stop micromanaging the how. do you manually control your heartbeat? do you stress over each individual breath? no? then stop hovering over your manifestations like an anxious project manager. you want it. it's done. the ‘how' isn't your problem. the universe has already sorted the logistics.
start being delusional. your current reality is just a collection of past assumptions. want a new reality? adopt new assumptions. pretend you already have what you want. no, really. stop analysing. just be the version of you who has it. the world will catch up.
if you're ‘waiting' for your manifestation, you're reinforcing that it isn't here yet. and if you're reinforcing lack, you're just extending it. let go of ‘waiting.' live like it's already yours. because it is.
the universe is not a vending machine you need to shake. detach. you don't ‘make' things happen. you request them, step back, and trust they're coming. you ever seen a billionaire refresh their bank balance anxiously? no. they just know the money is there. treat your manifestations the same way.
you are already doing it. every single thing in your life right now, you manifested it. consciously or not. so you might as well start doing it on purpose.
                  ┊
stop making shifting and manifesting your part-time job. you are the main character, yes, but not the tragic, struggling one. be the one who gets what they want simply because they decide to. the one who moves through realities with ease, who manifests without breaking a sweat. become the laziest, most effortless version of yourself. because that's the one who wins without having to lift a finger.

Where do you fall on the "killing vs. not killing bad guys" argument? I know the debate is complicated and there's a lot of various factors for and against either side, so I wanna hear your take on things.
An intensely complicated subject that tends to get oversimplified on both sides of the equation. I generally don't like to take a "side" on this because I feel like the idea of there being "sides" on killing misses the point.
Unless you're talking about cold-blooded execution of a subdued foe, killing generally isn't a choice you get to make. It's a consequence of the choice you already made to use violence.
While arguments about killing villains exist beyond superhero comics, this is a particular way that they tend to happen in superhero media. Superhero stories depict their heroes as, effectively, SWAT teams. The Green Goblin is about to blow up Newark, so Spider-Man breaks in and smashes his face against a brick wall until he passes out.
Part of the fantasy is the idea that nonlethal violence is easy and reliable. After Spider-Man reduces the Green Goblin's HP to 0, a Windows menu pops up and says "Would you like to finish him?" Spider-Man boldly clicks "No" after every fight like the hero he is.
It allows fans to enjoy brutal takedowns of bad guys without having to reckon with the reality that when Batman brought an entire floor down on top of that guy's head, he probably didn't wake up in a hospital bed. Batman can throw a guy off a third story balcony and watch his knees crack as he hits the ground and the story assures you that he's fine. He'll just need a little stay in the hospital.
But realistically speaking, all of these guys would have body counts. Not because they were aggressively trying to murder, but because you don't really get the choice. It is extremely easy to kill someone and surprisingly difficult to nonlethally incapacitate them. The line between how much blunt-force cranial trauma will knock someone unconscious versus how much will kill them is extremely blurry and it moves.
There are less lethal ways of incapacitating someone than others. Obviously, tasing someone has a lower mortality rate than shooting them with bullets. But the only surefire way to uphold a Code of No-Killing is to not use violence as your problem-solving tool in the first place. And there's not a lot of de-escalation training going around the Avengers Mansion.
So it always just feels kind of self-delusional when superheroes brag about not killing people but their primary mode of problem-solving is to shoot a guy in the face with an exploding arrow or something. You're gonna kill people if you're Batmanning. Sorry, that's just the reality of violence. When you throw a guy off a roof, you don't get to choose what physics is going to do to that sack of meat and bone as it hits the ground.
Now, on the opposite end of the spectrum, should superheroes kill people on purpose? Uh. No. I don't want cops extrajudicially murdering whoever they don't like, and I don't want Batman to do it either. Due process exists for a reason.
Superheroes should not try to kill people. But they are going to kill people sometimes, because their hammer is violence and their stories are just excuses to pit them against nails.
"But the Joker always breaks out of prison." Yeah, but he also always comes back to life. If you can nitpick about genre conventions then I can too. Hell, often times you can't even redeem a villain without the next writer unwriting it and making them a bad guy again. At a metafictional level, there is rarely any way to truly do away with a popular villain.
But. Y'know. Let's talk about heroes who aren't fucking copaganda. In the broader fictional sense, should stories end with the hero killing the villain or shouldn't they?
This, again, has no simple Yes or No answer. It depends heavily on the themes being explored and what the villain is meant to represent.
We need to talk about the "demise" of the villain, which can be a literal death or it can be many other things. The primary function of the villain is to be wrong about something. To oppose the hero, who is right about something.
The villain holds bad ideas, bad beliefs, bad ideology. The hero may start out holding good ideas, or they may be something that the hero comes to over the course of the story. But by the time these two meet in the third act climax, they are meant to embody the two faces of the story's central thesis. Regarding whatever this story is trying to talk about, the hero is right and the villain is wrong.
Whatever form it takes, whether literal death or not, the demise of the villain is the final statement on their incorrect or even toxic beliefs. Which often does take the form of literal death because it's easy to write a comeuppance that way.
Luke Skywalker believes that there is love in his father's heart for him, and Emperor Palpatine is confident that Anakin is truly lost. But Luke's love for his family wins out and destroys Palpatine.
Scar is selfish, cowardly, and disloyal. Simba returns out of a sense of responsibility and loyalty to his people, coming clean to them and accepting his place among them. Scar tries to sell out the hyenas to save his own skin, as well as stabbing Simba in the back. For his treachery, the hyenas rip him to pieces; He is devoured by the very loyalties that he selfishly betrayed.
Obadiah Stane, the embodiment of war profiteering and the military-industrial complex, is literally consumed by the clean energy project that Tony wants to move the company towards instead.
Sauron underestimates the power of the small and meager folk, and believes wholeheartedly in Great Men of History. And so when Great Man Aragorn marches to his gates, he allows himself to become convinced that this is his true nemesis, his true rival, the threat he must face. This is the glorious battle that will decide the fate of Middle-Earth. And so he turns his eye away from the common folk that will be his undoing.
The villain's flaws, their toxic ideology, the things that make them the villain, are what their demise is supposed to be about. They can be consumed by their failings or undone by the hero's virtues, but either way, in a well-executed demise, a closing statement on the story's thesis is made.
But a well-executed demise doesn't necessarily have to be fatal, either. Like I've said, it can be things other than a literal demise. Sometimes it absolutely should.
In Civil War, Zemo is driven by an obsession for revenge. His homicidal retaliatory bloodthirst is a toxin that he infects both T'Challa and Tony with over the course of the story. Tony succumbs and has to be defeated with force, though Steve still demonstrates his strength of character by sparing Tony's life in the end even when the madness of the battle threatens to grip him too.
But it's T'Challa who delivers Zemo's demise. Not by killing him, but by making the choice to rise above vengeance. T'Challa breaks the shackles of Zemo's infectious vengeance and chooses mercy. And it's in this moment that Zemo's feelings, his cruelty, are opposed and vanquished by T'Challa's heroic virtue.
Firelord Ozai believes in the Social Darwinist ideology of Might Makes Right. He leads a culture where disputes are settled with deathmatches and believes it is his right to blanket the world in fire because he has the power to do so, and no one can stop him. Aang, by contrast, is a pacifist at heart because those are the values he was raised in; Values of a culture that Ozai exterminated, whose very last vestiges exist only in Aang's heart.
Ozai would kill Ozai and Azula, who often gets left out of this conversation. Because theirs is a culture where righteousness stands hand-in-hand with brute strength. Where who is right is decided by who is left standing when the dust settles, and who is a pile of ash. Aang defeats Ozai; By Ozai's belief system, Aang is stronger thus Aang is righteous and it is his Conqueror's Right to execute Ozai where he stands.
But Aang doesn't just beat Ozai; He rejects Ozai's way of life. He renounces the belief system of the imperialist colonizer and holds true to the belief system of a people they destroyed. While a simultaneous outcome plays out between Katara and Azula, as Katara similarly chooses mercy once she's obtained a position of power and control over Azula.
Special note also to Zuko who demonstrates that he actually cares more about protecting people than about winning his Glorious Deathmatch of Imperialist Honor. Which also serves as a rejection of Azula's beliefs that relationships are founded on fear and control. Zuko, too, rejects the belief systems of Ozai and Azula and warrants recognition. Ozai would never have taken a hit like that for Azula. Azula would never take a hit like that for Ty Lee.
It's this mercy that breaks the Hundred-Year War, destroying not the perpetrators of it but the very principles on which it is founded. This philosophical annihilation of Azula and Ozai's very understanding of strength and power is their villainous "demise", and weighs far more than just cutting their heads off and calling it a day ever could.
There is no correct answer to whether or not heroes should kill. What matters most is how the demise the writer chooses for the villain reflects upon the story's central ideas and thesis.

when thinking about twst my mind always eventually bounces back to thinking about the little first year gang, because they're such a disaster group.
like arguably, none of them on their own are grade a troublemakers (except Grim). If we're going by chaos energy on their own, characters such as floyd, kalim, jade, lilia, ect. probably wreak more havoc. hell most of the dorm leaders, as intelligent as they are, are so arrogant that they cant seem to stop pissing others off.
but the first years have the terrible curse that their brain seems to fall out of their asses the moment another first year is nearby.
ace is the best example, we know from chapter 7 that he has a good head on his shoulders, but the moment an opportunity to mess with deuce/prefect/grim arises he throws all caution out the window. despite the voice inside his head screaming danger he can't ignore the siren's call of starting shit.
deuce, on the other hand, is a character that literally can't seem to avoid bullshit. He's trying so hard to be better and YET he keeps getting wrapped up in these looney toons ass situations. he's the unluckiest first year, and is also easy to anger and even easier to fool.
Epel is a good enough student when he's surrounded by the rest of pomefiore (who are arguably more insane than him) but he also can't ignore the allure of chaos. imo he's the enabler, with a personal philosophy of "you can solve every problem if you hit it hard enough"
jack tries really REALLY hard to not get involved, but he's also too emotionally constipated for his own good sometimes. remember that scene in stitch's event where he tries to help riddle and azul with carrying heavy items, then to cover up for his display of kindness he tries to be all like "psh yea you guys don't look that strong" and riddle prompty obliterates him for saying that. yea that. keeps shooting himself in the foot
ortho seems like he'd have a good head on his shoulders, but he has the same amount of social tact as idia. i mean he's really nice right up until the situation gets dire, and then he starts calling his friends idiots. he's absolutely correct btw, but ortho don't say that out loud
and finally sebek, who tries really hard to not be associated with the rest of these hooligans, but is argueably the worst person here. yells at everyone, insults everyone, sebek is the friend you cannot take out to eat because he doesn't know what an inside voice is and doesnt understand why he has to wait so long for his food despite the fact you're with a group of 7 during the busiest time of the evening.
Grim is like. the final piece to this puzzel. all the first years need a bit of chaos to get truly started, and grim cannot stop causing problems

Bug like angel
Unhappy Birthday
pt 4.5 (again)
filler (again)
Tumblr media
Growing up, you never really celebrated your birthday.
You grew up with people who had either completely forgotten you or were trying to forget you.
You never even realized people celebrated them until one day when you were younger, Dick brought his friends over to celebrate his birthday.
Since then you've tried celebrating your birthday.
You tried to have a tea party with paper invitations you made only for them to be crumpled up and thrown into the trash.
Over time, you had gotten used to not celebrating them, only getting a couple of "happy birthday" from friends.
You didn't need gifts either, you technically had all the money in the world to buy whatever, whenever.
You never even got to blow out a candle on a single cupcake.
So it wasn't surprising that you'd forget your birthday sometimes.
You never really celebrated your birthday.
You were sad about it growing up, but you soon realized you didn't want to celebrate with them anyway.
It was pretty late in the morning.
You were dead asleep on your bed at the manor.
It was a weekend and you were taking advantage of how you could sleep in bed all you wanted. You had just gotten back from patrol and school.
Little did you know, all your friends had been up all day and night making you a little special something.
Tumblr media
"She won't like it like that- cmon just hand me it-!" Miles argued while pulling on the tablecloth that was party-themed
"Oh cmon, everyone knows she would want f/c themed party!" Pavitr argued back while placing the tablecloth of your favorite color onto the table
"Boys, stop fighting! At this point, if you guys keep acting like this Y/N won't have a party on time!" Rio yelled from in the kitchen.
"Sorry ma! Just give us a second, we will figure it out!" Miles said back while pulling on the tablecloth
"Yes, just a moment Ms.Morales!" Pavitr called, while pulling on the tablecloth as well. It looked like a game of tug of war.
Then they ripped the cheap tablecloth.
It ripped right in the middle.
Pav and miles stopped right then and there.
"..Fuck." Miles stared right at the rip.
"Shhiittt." Pavitr said while pulling on his hair, a bit dramatically.
"Pav, we can figure something out," Miles said while taking Pav's hands off his hair.
While Miles and Pav were coming up with ideas, Hobie was busy putting up the 'happy birthday' banner on the wall.
The only thing that was messing it up was that one side couldn't stay up.
If the left side stayed up, the right side would fall.If the right side stayed up, the left side would fall.
Once he finally got it right, it all fell.
In the kitchen, Gwen and Peni were working on your cake.
Peni is a pretty good cake decorator, and you taught Gwen how to bake pretty well.
The cake was gonna be great!
...The only thing is since the kitchen was sort of crowded and people kept bumping into them, the cake came out looking a little dumb.
It was lopsided and the handwriting was crooked. You could make out the words, but it was messy.
While Peni and Gwen were figuring out ways to fix it, Peter B was fixing out the gift table.
It would be pretty easy if Maydays the new literal sticky hands could stop sticking to the tissue paper in one of the gifts.
Somehow, for the next few hours, there was tissue paper all over the floor.
The most calm and collected ones had to be Rio and Jess. The food they were making smelled delicious and took over the house.
The only issue? They were the ones also solving the problems with the kids.
Every two minutes they had to stop and scold one of the kids to stop doing something bad.
Jeff was making sure you didn't get here early, and that no one he didn't approve of (your family) came in.
Noir and Ham were trying to fit your comically large gift into the room, which was very difficult since it was stupidly big.
Tumblr media
While this was all happening, you were sleeping on your bed. Suddenly you woke up when you got a text from Miguel.
Spider-dad: Get ready.
You: wyat
ehat*
whay*
what*
Wgywhu*
why*
Spider-dad: Hurry.
You:??ok
Well, that made no sense.
You got ready for the day, decided to skip breakfast since you didn't wanna see your family, and put on your shoes.
You realized you felt like you were forgetting something.
Have you forgotten a friend's birthday?
No, you had all of their birthdays on a calendar and memorized them too.
Maybe it was an assignment you forgot to turn in?
Yeah, it was probably that.
You ran to your bathroom to brush your teeth, and you felt that familiar feeling.
Miguel was here!
"I'm coming, just wait a minute!" You yelled from the bathroom, still brushing your teeth.
You ran out and dabbed him up as soon as you saw him.
You started dabbing people up out habit after you saw Miles and Pavitr do it.
"So, where are we headed?" You asked while grabbing your wallet.
"We are going out to eat," Miguel said while standing awkwardly stiff like usual.
"Oh, where?" you asked, tilting your head
"that's classified." he turned his back towards you dramatically and you tried not to laugh.
"well can I at least get a piggyback ride on the way?" you asked, jokingly. You thought there was no way he was gonna do it.
He squatted down. "get on." he grumbled.
You immediately hopped on before he could change his mind.
You guys swung around for a while, it was honestly surprising how no one saw you.
You took a tiny nap while he swung. You woke up to you guys both being in front of your favorite breakfast place.
You remembered how you had once begged Dick to take you. he promised you he would take you.
Only to cancel last minute, when you were ready to go.
Turns out he had also promised Damian that he would help him train.
It wasn't the first or last time this would happen.
You shivered the thought away. You didn't want to remember that, not right now at least.
You got off Miguel's back and walked in.
You guys got seated at a booth and you immediately ordered a milkshake.
You ended up drinking at least 3 by the time you were done with breakfast.
You also ordered your favorite breakfast foods, and Miguel ordered huevos con chorizo.
You guys talked about anything and everything for a while until the topic of your friends came up.
It was then you realized you hadn't gotten a single text from any of your friends all day.
Huh. Weird.
Usually, the group chat went crazy immediately in the morning.
You decided to just ignore it, they were probably all busy.
You still had that weird feeling you were forgetting something.
After breakfast, you and Miguel started walking around a shopping mall.
You didn't really wanna shop, you could buy anything you wanted with your monthly allowance, and that made everything boring.
So you both just walked around. You didn't wanna shop.
That was until you came across a build-a-bear workshop.
As soon as you guys walked by it, you stopped dead in your tracks and you stared at a bear.
One that was in your favorite color and holding a cute little guitar.
It was literally you.
You needed it so bad.
You dragged Miguel inside with you and you both got matching bears. you forced him to get one.
Funnily enough, your bears kind of looked like your costumes.
By the end of your bear shopping and walking around, it was evening.
Miguel told you to hop on his shoulders and close your eyes.
You listened and you felt like you were moving universes again.
Miguel dropped you off his shoulders.
"Open your eyes," Miguel said, stretching his back.
You listened and you felt a faint hum going off in the back of your head.
You both started walking towards a dark room in the society, one that was empty and usually just used for small meetups between friend groups.
You jumped as the lights turned on and you heard a "surprise" coming from all your family and friends.
You looked around in surprise.
The cake was crooked and you could barley make the writing.
The banner on the wall was slanted and held on by piles of web fluid.
The tablecloth was a mix of 2 tablecloths taped together half and half.
"..So thats what I was forgetting!" You looked like a lightbulb just went off in your head.
"What were you forgetting?" asked Peni as she passed you one of the balloons that said 'Happy birthday' on it
"My birthday! I forgot it was today!" you laughed to yourself a bit.
You and the others started celebrating. You've never had a party before!
Even if the party was a mess, you knew it came from a lot of people who cared about you.
When they took out the cake for you, you started crying a little out of happiness.
A couple of people checked up on you before you admitted it was out of happiness.
You opened your gifts.
Most of them were crafts, and the ones that weren't were things you were interested in that you didn't have in your universe and your friends had in theirs.
You ended the party smiling while passed out asleep next to your friends who were equally as exhausted.
You didn't notice Peter B. taking pictures of you guys. You didn't notice until the next time you came over to Miguel's apartment and saw the picture hung up on the wall.

What if I had Miles destroy Maelon's data and Eve died on him...
I like thinking about these scenarios with Miles because he'd actually feel really guilty and I also kind of like being funny with paragon shep.
I also think Miles kind of feels guilty whichever path he goes and he feels a push and pull between what's morally the "right thing" and like. What's expected of him as a soldier, as a spectre, to keep the galaxy safe.
Such as. Wondering whether the Krogan can be trusted and feeling like, both to stop a potential future Krogan uprising and securing Salarian aid, lying to Wrex and his people and killing Mordin isn't that high a price to pay
Ezra isn't doing that kind of ruthless calculus. Not in this situation at least.
If Miles were more inclined to talk about it I think he and Kaidan might have some interesting things to say to each other about integrity and honor mattering even as the world falls apart.

Yandere batfamily x neglected reader
Tumblr media
In the cold, towering shadows of Wayne Manor, you existed as a flicker of something forgotten, something unseen. To the family, you were a presence, but never a person—a thing that was always there, never quite needed, but always expected to be. It was a strange kind of loneliness, one that settled deep within your bones. It wasn’t hate, not outright. But it was neglect, a neglect that twisted and shaped itself into something far more sinister.
Bruce, with all his focus on Gotham’s endless darkness, had never known how to be a father in the way you needed. He loved you, he cared for you in his own way, but it was a cold, distant love, one born out of obligation. He made sure you had everything you needed: food, clothes, shelter. But that was all it was. There was no warmth in his touch, no kindness in his words. Every time he passed by, his gaze barely brushed over you, and you would hold your breath, hoping for just a second of acknowledgment, a second of care that never came. But you learned quickly—Bruce didn’t have time to see you. His world was bigger than you, and in his eyes, you were just a small piece of the puzzle. You weren’t a person to be loved and cherished. You were a responsibility. A duty. He never once sat down with you to hear how your day went, or how you felt. If you wanted attention, you had to earn it. If you needed comfort, you had to wait for him to decide you were worthy of it.
Dick, who was always smiling, always so eager to please, had a different kind of neglect. He wasn’t cold like Bruce, but he wasn’t present either. Dick was always somewhere else, wrapped up in his own world. He’d sweep into the room with his wide grin, maybe a pat on the head, maybe a quick word here or there. But his affection never reached past the surface. It was the kind of love that only showed up when it was convenient, when it didn’t get in the way of his own life. He would hug you, but it was quick, fleeting, as though his attention was already elsewhere. Sometimes you would stand there for minutes, waiting for him to notice you, to actually see you, but the longer you waited, the more you realized it wasn’t going to happen. Dick wasn’t truly there, not in the way you needed him to be. He never asked you how you were doing, never checked on you when you were quiet for too long. You weren’t worth his time unless it was easy, unless it was convenient. And as time passed, you learned that his love was always on his terms, and you were always left waiting for the moments that never came.
Tim, who was so intelligent and sharp, didn’t understand you at all. He looked at you like a problem to solve. There was no tenderness in his eyes, no softness in his voice when he spoke to you. His way of showing care was to ask you if you’d eaten, or if you were okay, but there was always a sense that he was doing it out of routine rather than genuine concern. If you showed signs of needing more than the bare minimum, he’d get frustrated, annoyed even, as if your needs were an inconvenience. You weren’t allowed to be a bother. You weren’t allowed to be human. Tim loved you, yes, but it was the love of someone who didn’t know how to love. He saw you as an extension of his world, not a person in your own right. Your silence was met with frustration, your sadness met with impatience. He didn’t have time to comfort you; he had cases to solve, problems to fix. You were a task to him, a thing to be checked off and moved on from.
Jason’s love was the most painful of all. It wasn’t outright cruel, but it was laced with a sharpness that cut deep. Jason would pull you close when you needed him the least, but when you needed him the most, he would turn away. His love came in flashes, in moments of brief connection that would burn brightly before fading into coldness. He wasn’t able to offer you the consistency you craved, the stability that your heart so desperately needed. When he did notice you, it was often in a sharp, harsh way—his anger spilling out, his guilt over his own brokenness feeding into his care for you, but it was a broken care. It was as if he wanted to protect you, but he couldn’t figure out how without making you feel like a burden. His love was suffocating, overbearing, because he couldn’t stand the thought of losing you. But that was his problem, wasn’t it? His love was for himself, his need to fix something broken, and not for you. He loved you with the intensity of a man trying to fix his own past mistakes, but never once did he pause to think if you needed that love, or if it was too much to carry.
Damian’s neglect came in the form of indifference. You didn’t exist in his world. His eyes would slide over you like you were nothing more than a fixture in the background. He had no patience for anything that wasn’t him, no time to stop and listen to your needs. When he did interact with you, it was always with an air of superiority. He would demand your attention, but when you needed his, he was too proud to offer it. His love wasn’t love at all—it was control. He wanted you to fit into his world, to mold yourself into his idea of what you should be. He never bothered to learn who you truly were, who you were beyond the title of "his sibling." To him, you were just an extension of his father's empire, not a person in your own right. His love came with expectations, and if you didn’t meet them, he would ignore you, push you further away. His neglect was harsh and unapologetic. It wasn’t even something he noticed, because in his eyes, he was right. And you were just supposed to be there.
Cassandra and Stephanie, who had seen pain in their own lives, understood loneliness, but they couldn’t reach you in the way you needed. Cassandra, though she understood the language of silence, was too quiet herself to break the walls you had built. She couldn’t reach into your soul the way you needed, couldn’t make you feel like you were more than just a shadow. Stephanie tried, she really did. She was always the bright one, the one who pulled you into her light, who tried to make you laugh, tried to be the friend you didn’t have. But it wasn’t enough. Her love was more like a mask, something to keep up appearances, something to show that she cared—but deep down, you knew it wasn’t the kind of love you needed. It was temporary. It was the kind of love that lasted only as long as it was convenient, and when the days became long, when the nights became cold, Stephanie’s love faded into the background like everything else.
Duke, the newest addition to the family, wanted to be the one to fix things, but he was just too late. He saw the cracks in the family, the way you were pushed aside, but he wasn’t strong enough to fight against the currents that had already shaped you into something else. His love was genuine, but it was too new, too fragile to make a difference in the sea of neglect that had already swallowed you whole. He wanted to protect you, wanted to be the person you could rely on, but he couldn’t find a way to break through the walls of hurt that had built themselves around you.
They all loved you, in their own way. But love, when it’s cold, distant, and inconsistent, becomes a weapon. Love, when it’s mixed with neglect, becomes emotional abuse. It isn’t always harsh or violent. It’s quiet, hidden in the silences, in the moments where your needs go unrecognized. It’s in the way they forget you, in the way they act as though your pain is just a passing inconvenience. It’s in the way they only notice you when it suits them, when they remember that you’re there, when it’s time to check off the box of “care.”
You weren’t hated. But you were forgotten. And in the shadows of Wayne Manor, where the world’s greatest heroes lived, that silence was the loudest thing you could ever hear.
