It's Wayne that goes with him when he buys the truck. He offers to go with him. Uses one of his few days off to do it.
On the way there, it strikes Steve that his own father would never do this with him. The man hadn't even bought the Beemer himself, just sent an assistant to take care of it. And here Wayne is, driving them to a used car dealership, humming along to some old country-western song on the radio.
It takes three dealerships for them to find it, but Wayne is patient, stoic, takes careful note of the cars that catch Steve's interest. He asks the salesman if he can pop the hood, peers at the engine, kicks the tires. He asks questions Steve would never think of, about adjustments to the odometer, history of repairs, if it was in any accidents.
Steve never considered wanting a truck, doesn't think it's his style. But he's walking the lot at the third dealership, and he sees it. It's a Chevy, blue and white, a few years old. It's in good condition, but was obviously used for work.
He walks towards it.
"You like this one?" Wayne asks. If he's surprised, he doesn't show it.
"Yeah, it's--yeah," Steve nods.
Wayne does his checks, asks his questions, gives a nod of approval.
It's the first car he takes on a test drive.
He barely has it on the road before he knows it's the one. It surprises him. He always thought he was his true self in the BMW, but now--the engine has a throaty grumble to it, can feel it rumbling through his foot on the pedal, and it's--it's--perfect.
"This it?" Wayne asks as they pull back into the lot.
"Yeah, yes. It's. Yeah."
"Well, let's get to hagglin."
Wayne is, of course, an expert haggler. By the end of it, he's got a couple thousand dollars knocked off the asking price, Steve more than within budget.
They drive back to Wayne's little house on the outskirts of Hawkins, the one the government gave him, the sun just disappearing behind the horizon.
Eddie stands on the small porch, wide smile on his face.
"Wow, Wayne," he says. He wraps an arm around his uncle's shoulders. "You really did a number on him."
"It's a solid vehicle, Ed."
"Never took you for a truck man, Harrington," Eddie teases.
"Can't you see how gorgeous she is?"
Eddie raises an eyebrow, his smile not faltering. "Wow, it's true love then."
"Looks like it. Wanna come for a ride?"
There's only a second where Eddie hesitates, but then he's running inside to grab shoes, tripping on his way to the truck.
---
It happened like this:
Eddie Munson died in the Upside Down in 1986.
He's reanimated by Vecna for the final battle, a puppet to do his master's bidding.
When they win, when Vecna is dead in a pile of dessicated vines, they can't find Eddie. Scour the Upside Down for him and come up empty. They have to assume he's dead, like everything else there, kept alive only by Vecna's power. None of them want to leave without him, but the world is destabilized, they can't stay, El has to close the gates.
That night, Steve pulls the battle vest from under his bed, sobs into the blood-soaked denim, the grief from the loss just as fresh as March of '86.
He and the kids, they go visit Wayne. It becomes a regular thing.
Two weeks after the end of Vecna, Wayne calls him. He's panicked, near hysterical, nothing like the man Steve's come to know.
He goes, fast as he can, to Wayne's house. All the lights are off, the front door ajar, and he runs, clattering into the living room.
Wayne is in the recliner, face pale and strained, and on the couch--on the couch--
Eddie Munson.
His hair's lank, his skin sallow, the light in his eyes dim, but it's him. Unquestionably.
Steve does the only thing he can think of, calls Hopper. He shows up a little while later with El and Will.
"I called Owens," Hopper says.
"Why would you do that?" Steve is angry.
"Look, kid, I get it. But none of us are equipped to deal with this."
He's right, so they wait.
It doesn't take the doctor, El, and Will long to figure that Eddie is Eddie, even though his heart beats a little slow and his skin's always cold and his blood is slightly the wrong color. He's still at least 75% human, and that's enough.
Only those six people know. It's dangerous to tell anyone else when the world still thinks Eddie Munson is a serial murderer. Owens asks for time to clear his name, and they have no choice but to agree.
After two days, Steve thinks he should give Eddie and Wayne space, but as he rises to go, Eddie's hand grips his wrist. "Stay?" He asks. Steve doesn't leave.
It's hard, keeping the secret from the rest of the kids, Robin. He wants to tell her, more than anything. About how they share a bed most nights, how he's memorizing the shape of Eddie's body in a way he shouldn't, how the gentle desire turns to profound longing--but Eddie's safety is the most important thing, so Steve keeps it to himself.
---
They go out in Steve's truck almost every night, always on backroads. It's the only way Eddie can leave the house.
It's Steve's favorite thing, the only time Eddie seems truly happy. They roll the windows down, turn the music up, and whip around deserted farm roads. Sometimes, Eddie will stick his head out the window, shout out into the night.
Steve is in love with him.
He has no idea if Eddie feels the same, figures it doesn't matter. He'll harbor this flame for the rest of his life without complaint because Eddie is alive.
He thinks he's done a good job at hiding his feelings, thinks he's able to avert his gaze, hide his blush, when Eddie comes out of his room in only his boxers, thinks Eddie hasn't noticed how Steve's eyes linger when they share joints lying in the bed of the truck.
Except tonight--tonight--they're driving back home, and Eddie, he's been quiet, distant, fidgety, and now he reaches out to turn down the radio, which has Steve's stomach in a knot.
"You--Steve, you've been so great. To me and Wayne, and--you're family, you know? To us, you're--but--"
And Steve thinks this is it, that Eddie noticed, that he's being let down easy, and he wants to throw up, cry, but Eddie's still talking.
"You have a life to live, right? You're--you're 23 and you're not stuck here like me, and I know Robin is ready to go and the kids are--they're going to college soon, and you shouldn't stay here for me, I'm--"
"What?" Steve says.
"What?" Eddie echoes.
"I don't want to leave," Steve says.
"But--"
"Where you are is where I want to be."
"I'm in love with you," Eddie says. Cover his face with his hands.
Steve pulls the truck to the shoulder. His hands are shaking.
"You love me?"
"I'm sorry." His apology is muffled. "I didn't mean--I know this fucks up--"
"Eddie." He says, soft. "Look at me?"
One deep brown eye peers up at him. "Eddie, I--I'm hopelessly in love with you."
Both eyes now, mouth a bright curve. "You mean it, Harrington?"
"Fuck, can't get enough of you, Munson."
"You know, if I thought for a second anything like was possible, I would've--fuck, I would've made a move ages ago. I would've--"
"Shut-up," he whispers against Eddie's mouth. "Kiss me."
---
And later, Robin will ask if he has someone, and he'll say yes, and she'll ask, soft, "is it him?" and he'll nod, and they'll both cry.
Later, a news report, Eddie Munson's body was recovered from the bottom of Sattler Quarry, bearing the same wounds as Vecna's other victims.
Later, Chief Powell will hold a press conference, say they're looking for a man named Henry Creel, wanted on suspicion of killing his mother and sister and the aggravated assault of his father with an MO that matches the 1986 killing spree.
Later, Steve will shave Eddie's head, Eddie crying softly as the hair tumbles to the bathroom floor. Steve will kiss the tears away, one by one, say, "I know it's hard to let go. But we'll move away, to a place where people say 'you look like that guy, that Eddie Munson,' and you'll say, 'I get that a lot,' and your hair will grow back, if you want it to."
Later, they'll invite everyone to Wayne's , everyone except Dustin, busy in Boston with an internship, and Eddie will be there to welcome them.
Later, he and Eddie will take the truck, drive up to Boston. And Eddie, he'll spy Dustin first, walks up to him and says, "Pretty metal tattoos, little dude," and they'll all cry until Dustin stops to yell at them for keeping the secret.
Later, Steve and Eddie will leave MIT--Dustin screeching that they have to call him every night promptly at 8pm still ringing in their ears-- in search of their future.

I need genre savvy Wayne Munson (and other workers of the town of Hawkins who would 100% notice shit has gotten weird--hunters, firefighters, Flo the jail receptionist) who started their own adult monster hunting club and just never crossed paths with The Party/etc until waaaayyy late in the game--and when he does, it's just Steve.
I kinda sorta get there (or will get off my dick) in Small Town Rumors but this is less that and more, "Wayne Munson tries to have a double life and ends up adopting a kid in each one, and then has to introduce them the way you have to introduce adult cats by keeping a door in between them so they don't kill each other."
#of course its#steddie#but like#wayne Munsons home for feral teenagers#and also steve getting pseudo adopted by so many ppl#and never realizing it#and ppl just think hes popular#like no thats not hawkins golden child#thats hawkins collective child

Hiii I don’t usually go here, but I have had a few Disjointed Thoughts(™) for like WEEKS and I finally decided to share on this, the most holy (hole-y, hah) of days, Slick Sunday.
SO. O!Steve, A!Eddie, shocking. Steve is excruciatingly aware that, physically? He’s not really the Ideal Omega, at least by societal standards. Or his parents’ standards. Or his own, if he lets himself think about it too much, but that’s why he simply Does Not Think About It. Emotionally, he’s pretty solid. He absolutely loves his forcibly-adopted, feral, teenage pups. He’s excited to have his own one day, and to have an Alpha who loves him and their pups. He is always taking care of somebody, particularly the people he cares about, and most of the time it’s not even a conscious choice.
Physically, though?
Physically, he’s taller than an omega usually is. He spent so much time doing sports before he presented, and then after to keep up the image. Plus, let's be honest, he's absolutely keeping himself in shape and strong enough to defend/protect his little chosen pack. No matter how he or other people might feel about it, nothing is as important as keeping everyone safe, even after the UD is taken care of.
He and Eddie have been getting close, though. Eddie made enough anti-secondary-gender-roles speeches in school that Steve's pretty sure he won't mind that Steve is more invested in keeping them all safe than playing the part of “good little omega.” He was certainly impressed when Steve had to bite a bat in the Upside Down, and that's not very Omegan. The problem is, Eddie is such a perfect Alpha. Robin always makes a face when he says it, but Steve can feel it in his soul. Eddie is loud, exuberant, fiercely loyal, and protective of anyone who might need it, particularly when he cares about them. He's good with his hands, between his guitars and tinkering with his van when it has a new issue every month. He bickers with Wayne constantly over bills, trying to get his uncle to let him help more, leaving stray bills in Wayne's pockets when he loses the argument.
If Eddie can be such a good Alpha, Steve can try and be a better Omega, just a little. He does tone his more Alpha-like tendencies down a little, just to be safe- doesn't bring up playing sports/working out as much when Eddie's around, asks Eddie to help move things instead of just doing it himself, lets other people grab stuff from high shelves rather than volunteering himself. It seems to be going well, all things considered. He and A!Robin (who knows about the Omega-image issues, but not that he's been playing a bit more of the helpless Omega for Eddie, because she absolutely wouldn't approve) are sure Eddie's going to ask him to start courting any day now, really!!
To hopefully kick-start the process, Steve eagerly volunteers to help Wayne with some manual labor. Something with the siding of the trailer; it won’t be difficult, but it'll be a lot easier with two people. He'd have helped anyway, of course, but he's very aware that Eddie is devoted to his uncle and wants him taken care of. Surely, if there's anything that would outweigh any distaste from the non-Omega-like behavior, it's helping Wayne. The day of, though, he's on a ladder (Wayne is holding the ladder steady; Steve threw a hissy fit when he tried to go up himself), hammering in the last couple nails when Eddie gets home.
Normally, Eddie seems ecstatic to see Steve in any scenario- at one of their houses, after Hellfire to take the kids home, the few times they've passed each other in the grocery store- but when Steve looks over to say hi, he doesn't look… pleased. He actually looks kind of. Angry? Maybe? His eyes are blank, not filled with the warmth he's used to. His mouth is pressed together in a thin line, jaw clenched.
Steve has gotten pretty good at reading Eddie, knows his facial expressions like the back of his hand, but this is new. New and not happy. It makes him self-conscious, make him want to jump off the ladder and go beg forgiveness from his Alpha for whatever he did, but Steve pushes it down. He's got a job to finish, and if that face is directed at him for too long there's a good chance he's going to start whining- or worse, crying. Eddie gets back in his van immediately, though, driving off who knows where. Steve tells himself he was probably just having a bad day, and didn't want company. That's just a thing that happens. Nothing immediately to do with Steve, surely, and Wayne doesn't seem bothered so it's fine. Definitely.
A few days pass, and the party are all at Steve's house. The pups (who are nearly grown, now, but that doesn't stop them from being Steve's Pups, okay?) are mostly in the pool. The technically-adults are enjoying the sun and calling out warnings when the play-fighting gets a little too rough. Steve and Lucas are practicing basketball a few feet away, trying to nail a particular, super impressive move that even Steve can only do with about 40% accuracy. (I don't know basketball, I'm sure something like this has to exist though, right??? Indulge me lol) The two of them have been at it all summer, to better Lucas’ chance of getting varsity next school year.
Then Lucas nails it. Absolutely picture-perfect form, better than even Steve has ever done it. And they go NUTS. Everyone is looking over, confused but generally amused at their antics. Steve is so proud that he doesn't even think about it, just lifts Lucas up so he's sitting on one of Steve's shoulders, so Steve can hold him up with one arm and gesture wildly with the other while parading Lucas around, explaining exactly why this is so impressive to the non-athletes.
Except. Then he happens to look over at Eddie. And it's the face from the other day. Closer now, he can see that Eddie's knuckles are white where they're clenched around his beer bottle. Steve still can't get a read on it, and Eddie hasn't been in the pool yet so the scent blocker is keeping Steve from being able to tell what's the matter. Again, Steve's first instinct is to figure out what he did, how he can be better. But this is Eddie. He's probably just bitter about a sports thing interrupting whatever nerd conversation he was probably having, and he'll get over it quickly. Besides, Lucas deserves his moment.
Eddie is fine the rest of the night, and it doesn't come up, so Steve manages to mostly forget about it. But a week or two later, Steve is dropping Max off at home after physical therapy, and she's clearly too tired and exhausted for the stairs but she'll never admit it. Steve moves slowly, telegraphing his intentions as obviously as he can to give her an out, but she doesn't take it. So he picks her up, gently as possible, and carries her up the steps, grabbing her crutches as well.
He doesn't push it, even if his Omega would be thrilled to bring her in and make sure she gets settled and drinks some water, because it'd make her uncomfortable and this is already a lot. They don't talk about it, they just say their goodbyes and Steve goes to drive home. He glances over at the Munson's trailer, purely out of habit, and in the window is Eddie. With the same facial expression as before. He turns away from the window before Steve can react, and the curtain is pulled.
Steve has the whole way home to question this, and the only similarity between the two events that could have caused that face is… Steve being too Alpha-like. The manual labor, carrying the pups around. He's too strong, too big. He's not a good Omega, and his Alph- Eddie, who isn't his Alpha yet and maybe now never will be- Eddie doesn't like it. He drops. Hard. He's not sure how he makes it back to his house, or inside. The next thing he knows, he's sitting next to the phone, Robin's voice coming distant but frantic from where it's dangling by the cord next to him.
Then she's there, in front of him. Worried, clearly, but Steve can't bring himself to do anything about it. He just stares. Time passes, clearly, because at some point he finds himself in his own bed, nest haphazarly built up around him where someone presumably tried to make it bigger without disturbing anything, staring blankly at the ceiling with Robin pressed against him.
His face is wet.
His eyes hurt.
Oh. He's been crying.
He remembers why.
His breath catches, and it's enough to get Robin's attention. She scrambles up, holding his face while she takes exaggerated breaths. He matches her breathing until he's sure they're past the risk of hyperventilating. He tells her everything- not just the times Eddie has seemed upset, but every time he's tried to be better, to be less, every time he's questioned if it would ever be enough. She clearly wants to comment, but she lets him get it all out first. When it's clear he's done, she bundles him in her arms. Calls him a dingus, so he'll crack a smile. They slowly transfer back down the stairs, curling up in a mass of limbs in front of the tv to watch whatever they can find without getting up.
Steve drives her home around midnight, knowing she has work tomorrow and he's got the day off. He swears he's fine, that he'll call if something changes. He waves her off, drives away, and heads in the opposite direction of home. He's okay for now, but if he goes home, he'll think about how empty it is, how he may never have an Alpha to help him fill the space and the quiet, and he won't be okay for long.
He ends up at the quarry. Still quiet, and he's still alone, but at least it's intentional here. He's not exactly watching the clock, but he's only idly thrown a handful of rocks down into the water when he hears a noise he could pick out anywhere. Eddie's van is pulling up, faster even than the ridiculous speeds he usually does. The gravel flies up as he slams on breaks, and the headlights are still fading out when Eddie throws himself out the door.
He hurries towards Steve, and when he's close enough, he drops to his knees. Steve tries to ask, tries to pull him up because that can't be good for Eddie's knees, especially when he's clearly in his pajamas and some untied shoes but Eddie grabs his hand and holds it in both of his own. Trips over his words as he tries to explain, rambles that Robin had called him after she got home, that Eddie had immediately run out the door, went to the house first and then drove around to find Steve.
Steve can feel the shame heating his cheeks, prickling in his gut. He's already mentally cursing Robin's overprotective nature. Of course she'd immediately tried to defend him. She'd probably told Eddie off, something embarrassing about leading him on or believing too much in gender roles despite his own nonconformity or whatever else. Steve tries to pull his hand away, but Eddie's got a firm grip and pleading eyes, and Steve's Omega is too desperate for some approval after his drop earlier to try too hard.
Eddie looks like he's tearing up, and Steve is too caught off guard by this whole thing to hold back the whine it pulls out of him. Even if he's hurt, seeing Eddie upset almost hurts his Omega more than anything else. Eddie's eyes go wide, and he surges to his feet, pressing Steve's hand to his chest and letting a reassuring rumble answer. Steve hates himself a little bit for how much it does calm him down.
Eddie rushes to explain. He's in love with Steve. He thinks Steve's easily the best Omega he's ever met, loves how much he cares for the people around him and protects their pups (Steve tries valiantly to ignore how his heart skips a beat at it being THEIR pups. He fails). The face Steve has been seeing has been Eddie straining to keep his Alpha from begging to bond with Steve on sight. Eddie wanted to court him, wanted to take it slow and romance him and do things properly because Steve deserves it, not ask Steve to have his babies in front of all their friends.
He's been waiting to ask, has been making Steve his own battle jacket since he'd liked Eddie's in the Upside Down as a first courting gift. Apparently, tracking down patches for artists Steve likes is a lot harder than finding patches for Eddie's favorites, and hand-sewing them all on has taken even longer. It's everything Steve could have ever hoped to want and so much more, and Eddie's not wearing any scent blockers, so underneath the heady smell of leather and comfort and Eddie, Steve can tell he's being honest.
The misunderstandings are forgiven. They start courting immediately, and Eddie gives him his own vest to wear as an IOU until Steve's is done. Robin is very mildly scolded for spilling Steve's business, which is cancelled out by the grin on Steve's face as he does it and the hug she tackles him in immediately after says she doesn't regret a thing. It's okay, though. Neither does Steve.

Always Been You (Dick Grayson x Reader) - Chapter 12
Always Been You (Dick Grayson x Reader) Reader Insert: she/her pronouns Word Count: 5054 Warnings: death, violence, fighting, bloody wounds, angst, infuriatingly oblivious love interest, slowburn Spoilers: Young Justice Seasons 1-3 plot partially, but it ended in 2022 so catch up.
Y/N Prince - miracle daughter of Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor - and Dick Grayson - first adoptive son of the Batman himself - have been best friends since day one. They went to school together, trained together, kept each other's alter ego secret from everyone else, and they founded the Young Justice alongside their friends together.
But as time progressed, Y/N and Dick grew up and Y/N found herself wanting more than friendship with Dick. But he never seemed to indicate that he reciprocated her feelings. And when Wally died and Dick abandoned the team, Y/N realised he never would. So she heads to the one place she knows will help her become a stronger warrior so that one day she can take her mother's place: Themyscira.
Two years after his leave, Dick reaches out to his old friends to help him with a mission. But when he finds out Y/N left too, he chases after her in the hopes to bring her back.
However, when the two finally reunite, it isn't as warm as he hopes. Not to mention Themyscira becomes under siege as they go to war against Echidna, the Mother of Monsters in Greek Mythology, and her army of monstrous children.
Will Dick and Y/N be able to put their past behind them and save the Amazonians' homeland? Or will they fall, unable to tell one another their true feelings?
~~~
'No!'
Dick's vision was hazy, all of his senses thrown off by the beating Echidna had dealt him. He must've blacked out for a second, as the next he was looking at Echidna slamming Y/N into the ground so hard she created a crater and left Y/N lying in it.
He was immobilised; the crushing weight from the rubble felt as if it were severing his legs off. Yet still he clawed at the ground, ignoring the blood and dirt that gathered under his nails, because he had to see her. He had to see if she was okay. Dick wouldn't be able to forgive himself if she wasn't.
Don't think like that, he berated himself, switching to pushing himself up in the hopes the rubble would fall off him. Y/N was tough, and brave and beautiful and all things good. She wasn't gone, she couldn't be.
When the rubble didn't budge, he slammed his scraped hands into the ground in frustration. 'Come on!' he bellowed, ignoring his already hoarse throat. But the rubble did not move. He was no god, not even close to a demi-god like Y/N was. Not even Bruce Wayne himself could worm his way out of situation like Dick's.
Hopelessness threatened to crush him like the rocks that lay upon him, exhausted and beaten in every sense. He'd felt this before many times; when Jason was killed, when Wally phased out of existence, when he felt he'd made the wrong decision in the days that he used to lead the team. But every time he'd placed his hope in the one constant factor of his life, the one he'd taken for granted too many times. And it wasn't until that morning, as the dawn had haloed her like the angel she was, that Dick realised it had always been Y/N, and always will be.
'Come on, Y/N,' he whispered. Hell, he prayed, because she was the only thing close to a god he truly believed in. And she had always delivered. Surely she would do so now. 'Come on, Y/N. Come on. Please... Come on...'
~~~
Y/N awoke to see clouds and a blue sky.
That's odd, she thought. The last thing she remembered seeing was Echidna's serpentine face and the grey marble ceiling of the palace.
'Grandma!' Panic and realisation prompted Y/N to sit up too quickly, causing her head to rush in a painful manner. She clutched her head to dull the pain, but her eyes caught her surroundings and suddenly she couldn't have cared less about her headache.
Y/N laid in a field of green at the top of a cliff face, where the crash of waves swirled up in a harmonious sound of chaos and nature. For a second she believed to be on Themyscira still. That can't be right, though, she thought, pushing herself slowly to her feet to investigate further. Echidna had decimated the buildings last she remembered, but that was not the case here. In fact, as Y/N looked around, she was the only person in sight.
No buildings, no roads, no stairs leading down the cliff face. 'Where in the world am I?' Y/N murmured to herself, bewildered.
'Who says you are in the world right now?'
Y/N jumped to her feet and spun around at the sudden intrusion of a new yet familiar voice, but she found no other person. Again, she was alone.
'Look up.'
Y/N followed the disembodied voice's instructions and found a ball of light hovering high in the sky. She hadn't noticed it at first because it lined up with the sun, but it became more visible as it lowered itself to Y/N's eye level.
Concerned and confused, Y/N eyed the floating light ball waiting for it to speak again. Maybe I just imagined the voice, she thought as she admired the light. A wave of warmth washed over her as she did, loosening her tension, relaxing the muscles she'd abused over the past week of fighting. For the first time since Echidna declared her war, Y/N felt at peace.
'What are you still doing here?' a definite voice from the light said.
Okay, I didn't imagine it after all.
'I-I I'm sorry?' Y/N scrambled for words, still trying to grapple with the reality that an orb of light was speaking to her. Then again, Echidna did beat the crap out of her. Maybe this was all a dream, or possibly the afterlife.
'You have a kingdom to save,' the light urged, and while the voice was indistinguishable as male or female, young or old, it sounded annoyed by all means. 'Stop wasting your time here and go save it!'
Y/N was even more confused and started looking around her to see if she had gotten it wrong. But no, she still saw the rolling fields of green, still smelt the salt from the sea that crashed against the cliff face. And the sky was still blue, not an awful depressing grey.
'I'm sorry, but where is here?' Y/N asked. 'Am I... I kind of assumed I was, you know... dead?'
'You are,' the light answered bluntly. 'Well, not quite yet.'
Y/n chuckled nervously. 'Um, last thing I remember was being beat up by a goddess who is twenty-times my size. I'm pretty sure I am dead.'
'When you die, Princess of Themyscira, you will be welcomed by the gods into Olympus for all you have done and sacrificed.'
'So you're saying this isn't the afterlife?' Y/N didn't think she could get more confused, but this little light was not being helpful whatsoever.
'It is the middle ground between life and death,' the light finally answered. 'Not many people get this opportunity - to decide their fate, that is. The Fates usually handle that.'
The light floated over to the cliff face and Y/N felt like she had no choice but to follow. As she did, the crashing of the waves grew stronger, louder. She looked over the edge and her stomach turned upside down at how the water below churned and crashed into the deadly, sharp rocks peaking out underneath the receding waves.
'You're saying I have a choice?' Y/N asked, her mind wandering to all the possibilities either choice gave her. 'I could choose to be free of burden? Free of pain ?'
'Indeed,' the light said, it's tone sad, disappointed.
Out of the corner of her eye, Y/N spotted the materialisation of a temple with beautiful white marble pillars and carefully crafted steps into it. Y/N felt a pull towards it, took a step even to be closer to it.
Come on, Y/N. Come on...Please...
Y/N froze. It was just a whisper on the wind, but she'd heard it, heard him. The image of Dick being crushed underneath rubble came to the forefront of her mind, and a single tear fell down her cheek. She brought a hand up to feel it, to let it sink in to her fingertips and remember him, remember them all.
'Echidna will kill all of them if I don't go back, won't she?' Y/N said disheartened, hopeless.
'I cannot say for certain what will or won't happen if you choose to either go back or move on,' the light said. 'It is your choice, after all. But I know what I would do if I were you. And I think you do too.'
Y/N looked between the light and the temple, admired how shiny and perfect and welcoming it looked. But Dick's plea blew by her again. The images of Celeste's and Andromeda's deaths and the hundreds of deaths she'd witnessed over the past week flooded her mind. The faces of her loved ones did too: M'Gann, Connor, Kaldur, Wally, Artemis, her mother, her grandmother.
Dick's gorgeous face was the last one she saw, smiling confidently at her as if they could do anything, even take down a tyrannical goddess of monsters.
Y/N turned away from the temple and walked back to the edge of the cliff. Peering down again, she hesitated from falling, uncertainty halting her actions.
'I don't know if I have the strength to go back,' she admitted, balancing on the edge of life and death. 'I don't know if I have what it takes to beat Echidna. To save my people.'
The light floated in front of Y/N, and it let out a small chuckle. 'Sure you do. You've known for a long time now.'
'How do you know that?' Y/N asked.
'Because...'
The light shone brighter, causing Y/N to shield her eyes for a moment. But Y/N could see the light's form changing, expanding and stretching until it mirrored her own height and shape. As Y/N brought her hands down, she was shocked to see her own face smiling back at her.
'...I am you,' the light said, though now it spoke with Y/N's voice. 'And we have always had what it takes to save our people. Your power just needed time to manifest itself, as it has done with your royal bloodline for millennia. The power is always different, and now... it is your time to use it for good.'
It all suddenly clicked in Y/N's mind as she stood face to face with herself. 'It wasn't Athena that helped me that night on the beach. It was you!'
The light shook her head. 'No, it was yourself, Y/N. You never needed a god to save you, only yourself.'
The light offered her hands out to Y/N, a bright smile on her face. 'So... are you ready then?'
Y/N had been questioning her suitability as Princess of Themyscira since the day she arrived on the island. She hadn't believed she would ever live up to her mother's legacy or power. But as she looked at the light - at herself - she realised she never had to.
Assurance and certainty had Y/N taking the light's hands and saying, 'Like you said, I always have been.'
With that, the light pulled Y/N off the cliff's edge and the two free fell down towards the rocks below. As they held onto each other, the light dissipated into small sparkles. The sparkles didn't fly away though. Instead they swarmed around Y/N, encasing her in radiant light.
The last thing Y/N saw before the world went white was the ocean rising up to meet her and engulf in its depths.
~~~
'Come on, Y/N. Come on!'
'Grayson!'
'Calliope! Over here!' Dick called out to the warrior, his voice desperate and sore as the pain his legs were experiencing was becoming unbearable.
Between the rubble around him, Calliope weaved her way through the maze of debris to get to him, a trail of other warriors following her moves. As they reached him, they all immediately swarmed around him, hands reaching for various pieces of rubble.
As they reached the final big slab pinning him down, Calliope called, 'Lift!'
Dick groaned with relief as the women removed the slab, grunting with strain as Calliope grabbed his hands and pulled out from underneath it.
She propped him up in a seating position, allowing him to suck in well-needed deep breaths. 'What happened?' she asked, looking around at the mess surrounding them. 'Where's Echidna?'
'She's gone... She's gone after the Queen,' Dick got out between breaths, eyes straying to the lifeless bodies of his fallen comrades. 'She killed Andromeda and Celeste.'
Calliope followed Dick's gaze, her breath hitching at the bloody sight of her mauled sisters. But she did not vomit, she did not cry, only turned back to Dick with the most serious expression he'd ever seen her wear. 'And the Princess?'
The mere mention of Y/N brought energy back to Dick's legs, and he scrambled to his feet and started running over to the ditch that Y/N laid in regardless of how much they hurt still.
'Grayson! Grayson! Wait up!' Calliope called as she chased after him, but Dick didn't bother looking back. Panic and worry and dread spurred his feet to move faster. He had to see for himself, had to see if he was too late again.
Calliope finally caught up to him as they approached the edge of the ditch, saying, 'Grayson, what is the matter with-'
She was cut off as the two of them were blown back from the ditch, a beam of white light firing out of it, through the palace roof and into the sky. Dick and Calliope shielded their eyes at the impossible brightness of the light, and when it finally died down, Dick was astounded at what was before him.
Y/N floated above the ditch encased in white light, the same white light that had possessed her the night on the beach. Wisps of it licked at her body, burning away her leather skirt and infusing itself into her obsidian armour. As if floating in zero gravity, her hair waved behind her in an invisible wind, only giving her a more god-like aura. If Dick hadn't known any better, he would've thought she was in fact Wonder Woman.
She was beauty and fear tied together. It was unlike anything Dick had ever witnessed, nor, he figured, he would ever witness in his lifetime again.
Unlike the night on the beach, however, her eyes did not glow an unresponsive white. Dick locked eyes with Y/N's shining E/C ones, and he'd never felt so transfixed by something before. But then again, those eyes could always get him to do whatever she wanted, she only need look at him.
Dick noticed her cuts and bruises still remained, but she didn't seem fazed by them anymore as she floated to stand on the edge of the ditch, light still emanating from her.
'Princess!' Calliope called out with joy, pulling herself and Dick to his feet before running over to Y/N. Dick and the other warriors followed until they all stood before Y/N.
'Calliope, didn't I tell you to go look after the evacuees?' Y/N asked, her tone slightly amused.
Calliope shrugged, a cheeky grin blooming on her face. 'You should know by now, Princess. I'm not one to follow orders so blindly. Besides, if I hadn't, Grayson here would've been two legs short of a full body.'
'It's true,' Dick added, drawing Y/N's attention to him.
A soft smile blossomed on her face when she looked at him, relief allowing her shoulders to sag for one moment. 'Then I am glad for insolence, Calliope. Just this once.'
Y/N quickly straightened up, her smile dropping as she looked between Calliope and Dick. 'I'm going after Echidna. Alone. I need you two to kill the monsters out the front and keep everyone safe.'
'And leave you to face the Mother of Monsters on your own?' Dick argued. 'I don't think so. She almost killed you just now.'
'Only because I didn't believe I had what it took to defeat her,' Y/N countered, eyes lingering over him too long but also not long enough. 'The truth is... I don't need to be my mother or Athena or anyone else in order to defeat Echidna. This is my home,' Y/N pointed to the palace gates where the fighting continued, 'those are my people. There is nothing I won't do to save them. And you.'
In that moment, as their eyes locked with one another Dick understood what she meant. They'd always been able to understand one another since they were children. Even after their time apart, he knew she was telling the truth. There was no end to what she would do. As long as her people and he stayed alive, she would give herself up to the gods themselves if she had to.
By the gods, he'd been so blind. So damn blind for too damn long.
The very thought of a world without her in it scared Dick the most, but the words he desperately wanted to say got stuck in his throat and Y/N rose up from the ground, energy surging through her.
'Echidna's reign of terror ends now,' she said, rising higher and higher, and with a burst of speed arguably faster than the Flash, she blasted off towards the doors leading into the palace, leaving a trail of white behind her temporarily.
'Wait!' Dick called out, but she was out of sight already.
He went to chase after her, but a strong hand on his wrist stopped him short. 'You heard what she said,' Calliope said, trying to tug him towards the fight outside. 'She doesn't need us.'
'No, you don't understand,' he said, pulling himself free of calliope's grip. 'She does need us. Especially if you want her to one day be your queen.'
Calliope's face dropped as realisation washed over her. 'Are you saying she...?'
Dick nodded. 'She doesn't plan on coming out of this fight alive.'
Calliope inspected him for a moment, a sad expression on her face. 'And you'll be damned if you let her sacrifice herself like that.'
Dick nodded, guilt and hopelessness threatening to overtake him. 'After all she's done... I have to try. For her.'
Calliope stared at him a moment longer, her eyes searching for something on his face, in his eyes. Whatever it was, she seemed to find it as she turned to the women behind her and said, 'You heard the Princess. Go help your sisters. Grayson and I will assist the Princess. Do not let any monster pass those gates.'
'Yes, General!' the women answered in unison, then ran for the broken palace gates where hundreds of thousands of monsters awaited them.
Calliope quickly ran over to where Dick had been pinned and picked up his escrima sticks. She held them out to him as she returned, to which he gratefully took.
'Ready?' Dick asked, gripping tight to his escrima sticks. Out of nerves or stability, he wasn't sure.
Calliope pulled her sword from its scabbard and held it with a ferocity that Dick never wanted to be dealt. For someone who had suffered third-degree burns on her hands not even a day ago, she barely seemed fazed by her injuries. 'Always, Grayson,' she replied, a sly smirk dancing on her lips.
With that, Dick and Calliope ran through the giant doors that led into the palace, following the desolation Echidna had left in her wake.
~~~
It wasn't hard for Y/N to track down Echidna; the goddess broken through every wall in the palace it seemed, as rubble littered the corridors, as the floors were indented by her giant footprint. But it was the strewn bodies of the warriors who'd stayed behind to guard her grandmother - dead or just unconscious, she couldn't tell with some - that spurred her to fly faster after the Mother of Monsters.
Y/N was more than aware of her injuries as her muscles strained, as she dared to breathe. But the power that surged through her numbed it all. As she had on the night at the beach, Y/N felt powerful, indestructible, stronger than she'd ever been before.
She would not let Echidna win. Not even if it killed her.
Echidna's destruction led Y/N to the centre courtyard of the palace; a large square area with a marble fountain and gorgeous gardens of exotic plants and flowers that skirted the courtyard walls. Y/N had spent many an evening reading there or just simply thinking.
However, tranquility had no place there anymore as the gardens were squashed and the fountain laid in a crumbled over-flowing mess. Echidna stood at the centre of it all, reaching up to one of the higher levels of the palace. She was like a child with dolls, picking up Amazon warriors and throwing them away as if they were just toys she could manipulate.
Her sisters' screams echoed up and down the courtyard, but it was the final woman in Echidna's hands that sent Y/N into motion.
Y/N landed beside a fallen pillar, reached underneath it and lifted it up with a grunt. She held the pillar over head for a moment before pulling her arms back and then slingshotting it up at Echidna. It hit her square in the jaw, causing her to drop Y/N's grandmother back on the balcony she was snatched from.
'Grandmother, go!' Y/N cried out. 'I'll take care of this.'
Echidna groaned as she rubbed her jaw, switching her serpentine glare to Y/N, black claws glinting in the firelight from the lanterns that still lit up the palace walls. 'I thought I'd dealt with you,' she hissed in frustration.
Y/N raised her arms, clenched her hands into fists in anticipation. 'If it makes you feel better, so did I.'
Echidna growled and swung a clawed hand at Y/N. Y/N leaped high as the hand brushed underneath her, landing briefly only to take off from the ground and charge at Echidna's face. Y/N landed a punch to Echidna's chin, sending the goddess' head flying upwards and her stumbling back into one side of the courtyard. Y/N landed on an opposite balcony as she watched Echidna pull herself out of the wall of balconies she'd fallen into.
More balconies fell as Echidna gripped hard onto them, leveraging herself back upright. Her eyes flashed an angry green, and she bared her fangs in a hungry manner.
'I've had enough of you, insolent mortal!' Echidna howled, spiked tail whipping to and fro behind her. Even from across the courtyard, Y/N could make out the dried blood on its pointed tip. The memory of her fallen sisters pierced something inside her, and another wave of power flowed through her.
From head to toe, white energy encompassed Y/N. It shook the very air around her, threatened to disintegrate anything that came close to her. It thrummed through her like her own blood, hummed through her bones, entwined with her heart.
With one thought, Y/N rose from the balcony to hover just over the edge, eyes locked with Echidna's, who now looked very wary of the insolent mortal before her.
...We have always had what it takes to save our people. Your power just needed time to manifest itself... The power is always different, and now... it is your time to use it for good.
'Trust me, the sentiment is shared,' Y/N said, her voice booming through the space as her power thrummed in time with her heartbeat. 'This ends now, Echidna.'
The Mother of Monsters bared her fangs in a hungry smile. 'Finally, something we can agree on.'
Together, they charged at one another, Echidna's giant hand reaching out to grab Y/N. Before, Y/N would've been caught, but this new power of hers cleared her mind, made her faster. As if Echidna was in slow motion, Y/N easily dodged her swing and collided with her chest.
The goddess grunted as she was winded, then looked down to find Y/N still there. Echidna growled in frustration and went to uppercut Y/N, but again Y/N was too fast, and Echidna ended up punching herself underneath her chin.
Y/N didn't waste time, pushing off a nearby pillar and charging for Echidna's knee. She crashed into it with such force an audible crack resounded through the courtyard, echoed by Echidna's wail of pain. Y/N raised her hands so her armoured bracelets crossed over as Echidna came down with a fist overhead. As they collided, the bracelets lit up white and a pulse of energy burst out of them, sending Echidna's arm reeling back with a sickening crunch.
As Echidna cradled her injured arm, Y/N rose from the ground until she aligned with Echidna's hateful eyes. 'You come to our island, destroy our homes, and kill my sisters...' Y/N charged at Echidna, landing a punch on her cheek before she could raise a clawed finger. Y/N zoomed in for another punch and another, knocking Echidna every which way until thew goddess was so dizzy she fell to her knees, destroying the fountain completely as she knelt in its watery remains.
Y/N landed on Echidna's back, and although breathing heavy with exhaustion, she walked right up to her neck so the goddess could hear Y/N when she spoke. 'I will not forgive you for what you have done, and I am done showing mercy.'
Just as Y/N raised her bracelets above her head for one final blow, a voice cried out in the distance, stopping her motions.
'Y/N! Behind you!'
Y/N glanced towards the familiar voice, only to shockingly find Dick standing with Calliope near the entrance to the courtyard. He'd ditched his helmet so she could see his black locks sticking to his sweaty forehead, could see the panic written on his face as he pointed somewhere over her shoulder.
She didn't have time to be mad at him for being there as she twisted in time to see Echidna's tail strike at her. Y/N brought her bracelets up to block the strike, but was sent flying into a pillar from the impact. She was winded twice as she hit the pillar first, then struck the ground just as hard as she fell. She was aware that someone was calling her name, but her head rung and she had to blink a few times to regain proper vision.
As her senses returned, Y/N finally realised Echidna was standing up again. Y/N made to get up but the tail was too quick again, wrapping around her middle and over her arms so she couldn't fight. It constricted around her like a snake, pushing air out of her lungs and snapping a rib or two as it lifted her off the ground to hover in front of Echidna's bloodied and bruised face.
Y/N had never pissed off a god before... to her knowledge, anyways. But even in her slowly suffocating state, she could make out the fury in Echidna's eyes, the resentment in her snarl.
'In all my years,' Echidna started, breath haggard from the beating she'd been dealt, '...I have never hated mortals more so than I have come to hate you.'
Y/N went to reply but Echidna's tail just squeezed harder, eliciting a quiet whimper of pain from Y/N.
'I will take great pleasure in breaking every bone in your body, then squeezing every last drop of blood from you,' Echidna threatened, her tail's grip on Y/N slowly tightening with every word. 'And once I am done, I will do the same to your Queen, then your precious little pretty boy down there, then every last Amazon warrior that isn't already being feasted on by my children.'
Y/N wrestled weakly with her bindings, but the more she was squeezed, the less energy she had to fight back with.
Y/N's fight amused Echidna as she snickered down at her. The Mother of Monsters leaned in close, her forked tongue slipping out to caress Y/N's face.
'You forget who you are, mortal,' Echidna whispered. 'And who you were up against. I am the Mother of Monsters, Echidna. You... you are nobody.'
The tail tightened and Y/N let out a choking sound, feeling herself slip away with every second that passed. She looked to the courtyard entrance one last time and saw Dick and Calliope. They seemed to be screaming but she couldn't hear a thing. Dick leapt over rubble in an attempt to get to her, to save her, Y/N realised. Calliope chased after him, but it would all be for nothing. Y/N would be dead by the time they got to her, and then Echidna would just kill them too.
You never needed a god to save you, only yourself.
Y/N turned back to face Echidna, making sure she saw the fire and the anger in Y/N's eyes. 'I am not... nobody,' she managed to breathe out, starting to gather the last remnants of her power together. 'I am Y/N Prince... Daughter of Diana Prince, the protector and former princess of Themyscira.'
As her power built, the tail loosened its grip ever so slightly as heat emanated from Y/N. 'What are you doing?' Echidna hissed, forcing herself to keep ahold of Y/N despite the pain. 'Stop that!'
'I am Wonderess, protecter of mankind and the Amazons,' Y/N continued, the power just growing and growing. And as much as it hurt to speak, she would not let Echidna have the last word. 'I am a sister and a friend. And I will not let you destroy my home.'
The already dark clouds above grew even darker as bolts of lighting flashed overhead, some even hitting the ground of the courtyard.
'Enough!' Echidna yelled. 'Stop it, you insolent mortal!'
'If I'm going down,' Y/N said through gritted teeth, the pain increasing tenfold as she tried to maintain and muster her power. '...then I'm taking you with me.'
More bolts of lightning struck the inside of the courtyard, some hitting the balcony and sending rubble crashing down. Some hit Echidna's shoulder, eliciting a painful cry from her. Y/N could feel Echidna try to retract her tail, but the light and the heat sealed her to Y/N. She would not escape her fate, and nor would Y/N.
Y/N turned her head one final time towards Dick and calliope, saw that Calliope was holding Dick back near the entrance as he tried to escape her grip.
They're safe. Good. She smiled with relief, and as Dick's eyes locked with hers, she was compelled by something to mouth a final message to him. The way he stopped fighting and stared up at her in pure heartbreak told Y/N he understood her message.
And with that, Y/N looked to the sky as she let her power finally explode.
A beam of white light shot up from her and into the stormy sky, and as Y/N's light dissipated, one giant bolt of lightning struck Echidna, sending shockwave after shockwave of intense energy through the both of them. Y/N couldn't tell if she was screaming she was in so much pain.
But the pain went as quickly as it came and soon she was numb to everything, just staring up at the sky as Echidna let go of her. Y/N registered briefly the sensation of free-falling, and for that brief moment, before endless darkness, Y/N felt at peace.
Balconies and pieces of the palace roof came crashing down with her, but she didn't register any pain.
Y/N was already gone before she hit the ground.

There is something so fucking cursed about getting a good couple thousand words into a work in progress only for your brain to IMMEDIATELY start plotting out another fic.
Anyway another thicc thighed athletic Omega Steve who is a total Momma Bear fic idea for you all (that is currently tormenting me because of course it is...) straight from the sleep fogged archives:
O!Steve and A!Eddie one night stand/short term casual hook up post Starcourt, which leads to Steve discovering around Christmas 85 he is pregnant, cue a series of unfortunate events for our favourite babysitter. (BONUS POINTS: they hook up in Indy and don't recognise each other, maybe a BDSM club or something where scents get mixed up and make it hard to discern individuals. Steve only discovers the baby's paternity by scent and running into Eddie later).
His parents find out and he is kicked out for good. Hop's 'dead" it's the well and truly winter and it is by complete accident that Claudia Henderson finds out and forcefully adopts Steve into her home. This saves him from being homeless and/or sleeping in his car however it does mean Dustin and Claudia along with Robin become overprotective as fuck over Steve.
Dustin is able to keep Steve's secret both about his pregnancy and living situation, although he has zero idea of who the sire of the pup is. Which makes his attempts to get Eddie and Steve meet all the more awkward for Steve to get himself out of.
Robin is the only person who knows Steve has found out Eddie is his pup's sire.
The lead up to season 4 remains as seen in canon with the exception being Steve is not actively dating. Instead, he is doing his best to keep quiet about his pregnancy and keep the pups (and the rest of Hawkins) none the wiser at least until he can determine what to do about Eddie, about his living situation and about how he is going to afford raising his pup because you know that man is determined to keep them.
When the UD shit hits the fan, Steve is then left dealing with several crises all at once, and the Upside Down is only one of them.
1. Eddie immediately clocks that Steve is his mysterious hook up/ still harbours unresolved feelings about their hook up when they meet again in the boathouse.
2. The discovery of Steve's pregnancy following the older teens getting out of UD following the Watergate shenanigans and a near feral Steve fighting for his and his pup's life (and turning Eddie on big time while he does it) leads to the pups and Nancy losing their shit not to mention Eddie.
3. Cue Eddie figuring out the timeline and putting two and two together. I am imagining a very stilted and awkward conversation between the two where they both decide to leave the big decision conversation till after they deal with Vecna.
4. Which then sees Feral O!Steve 2: Electric Boogooloo when Eddie gets himself critically injured. (I am thinking a mix of stubborn CPR administration with a shit tonne of various 'don't you fucking think about dying before I have our damn child Munson' followed by him dragging him out of the UD and an adrenaline fueled feral pregnant omega tantrum of epic proportions at the hospital which gets Eddie seen immediately despite the hesitation over the whole satanic panic).
And because I am a HAPPY ENDINGS ONLY in this household despite my love of a good bit of angst in my fics. They get their shit together while Eddie and Max are healing (Steve totally hasn't adopted Max after her mother has gone MIA or anything), and Eddie and Steve obviously confess their undying love for one another. Steve has the baby/ies, and Uncle Wayne gets to be the best goddamn Grandpa in the world. Claudia cries when Steve asks her if she is willing to be his pup's Grandma. While Max and Dustin argue over who is gonna be the better Aunt/Uncle to the baby/ies (Robin is equally as invested in the argument and often is found squabbling with the two of them over it.)
Joyce and Hop are the baby/ies acting second set of Grandparent's, a fact that bemuses Eddie given his history with Hopper.

Can someone explain to my, why as I was falling asleep, my brain decided that it was going to focus on a cursed AU, a Twilight AU.
But this time with vampire Steve, hotboi hot topic of conversation amongst the school, desired by almost everyone and charming, very charming, but always keeping himself at a distance from everyone, except for his own family. The Harringtons. It’s some kind of weird adoption thing, the school has decided. Steve has a brood of kids living with him in his big house, some people think it’s a cult thing. They all moved here from a tiny rural town, after all. Or it’s some weird small town America thing.
And then there’s the two girls. Robin and Chrissy. The student body can’t decide if they’ve got some kind of thruple thing going on because the two girls are always so close with each other, so intimate and like… there’d have to be a boy in between that, right? Because otherwise it’s just gay. And like he’s constantly around them?
The heteronormativity of the rumours is laughable.
Steve’s a jock extraordinaire, and while he’s good at his sports, he doesn’t get close with anyone on his team, keeps them all at a distance like he does everyone else.
Enter Eddie.
Weird, eccentric, brown curly haired, big doe eyed Eddie who just moved in with Uncle Wayne.

Wayne Munson Headcanons
Wayne was born and raised in Tennessee but moved to Hawkins when he was older. He briefly moved away but moved back after Eddie came out to him, wanting a fresh start
He was raised as an Evangelical Christian
He's the oldest of three, having a younger brother and a younger sister. His sister died young and Wayne never got over that grief
He had an abusive father, which contributed to his brother acting out as a teenager
He fought in Vietnam and subsequently hates guns as a result
His first job was in a pastry shop, but his father made him quit and get a job as a mechanic
He was very close to Eddie's mother (his sister-in-law) but kept his distance for his brother's sake
When his brother goes to jail for what seems like good, he tries to help out Eddie and his mom as best as he can
When Eddie's mom dies, Wayne feels like he didn't do enough
Wayne took Eddie in without hesitation. He'd been in a longterm relationship at the time and having Eddie with them broke it down, but Wayne wouldn't sacrifice Eddie for anyone
Wayne is the one who introduces Eddie to Garfield
Wayne had a brief relationship with Benny Hammond. He was in love with him, but felt he couldn't risk letting them be in love. He's heartbroken when he hears Benny committed suicide
When Eddie comes out to him as a boy, he does so by mentioning the D&D spell "modify memory" in his explanation. Wayne stays up for hours squinting at the handbook long after Eddie's fallen asleep, wanting to be supportive
Wayne was the one to buzz Eddie's hair, after he came out
Wayne loves fishing. He used to have a fishing group that consisted of him, Benny, Dale, Henry and Earl. Over the years, it becomes just him
Wayne braves a gay nightclub one night when Eddie's at a friend's. He goes a few more times and ends up having a one night stand with Scott Clarke, much to their mutual surprise when they bump into each other at the school
Wayne thinks he's cursed. He thinks the Munson name is cursed
When the mall 'burns down', he starts suspecting Hawkins is cursed, too
He cries when he sees Eddie in a coma after s4
He's suspicious of Steve initially. That quickly changes when he learns Steve was the one to carry Eddie out of the Upside Down
He finds out Steve and Eddie are dating when he walks in on them making out on his couch
He has designated mugs for different things. He brings a Garfield 'gone fishing' mug out with him when he's fishing. He has a snowy Garfield mug that he pulls out in winter
He ends up dating Claudia Henderson sometime after the Upside Down shit is finally over
He treats Steve, Robin and Nancy like they're his kids, too. And Max. Then by the end of the year he's essentially half-adopted the entire Hawkins gang
He has a soft heart and cares deeply about troubled kids. His friends joke that he has a 'waif in need' alert (thanks @pukner)
He doesn't want to get married, claiming he won't marry 'til his boy can marry
He's a man of few words. He's not good at showing physical affection, but he's prouder of Eddie than he could ever say
Calls Eddie 'his boy'
Heavily distrusts the government. Milks them for all he can when Eddie's recovering in the hospital. Lays it on thick with Nancy's help and then winks at her when the government agent bustles out of the room
Loves watching the game on TV. Eddie complains when Steve and Wayne get together for the game but is secretly thrilled about his favourite people spending time together
His clothes get passed around from Eddie to Steve to Robin to Nancy and back again. When Robin shows up in one of his flannels he doesn't even blink

Beautiful Boys
Prompt Day 23: Wayne Adopts Steve | Word Count: 1000 | Rating: T | CW: Lingering Injuries/Trauma | Tags: Post S4, Eddie Munson Lives, Good Uncle Wayne Munson, Wayne & Steve, Wayne POV
Wayne is in Hawkins Hardware, looking at the fence pickets. He definitely didn't expect them to have this many choices. He figured he'd come in and buy what he needed, from the only option available. In and out. Wallet a little lighter, but no choices to be made.
But, no. There are options. Decisions. And he isn't sure which style Eddie would prefer. He just wants Eddie to have a place he feels safe outdoors, again.
Wayne reaches out to touch the samples, again, when he hears clattering and an "oh my god, I'm so sorry" that sounds an awful lot like Steve Harrington.
Wayne pokes his head around the corner of the aisle, and Steve is gathering up a bunch of swag hooks off the floor, swiping them back into his handbasket.
"What're you doin' with those, kid?" Wayne asks, crouching down to help him.
"Eddie's plants," Steve says, standing back up, pushing his hair back and up, out of his eyes. These boys and their hair they can't keep contained. Wayne smiles. He remembers how his (now long-gone) hair was in the sixties. Different styles, sure, but just as impractical, at times.
"Eddie's plants," Wayne repeats with a smile, then asks, "You're gonna hang them from the ceiling?"
Steve nods, and Wayne grins, "That's a good idea, kid. He'll love that."
Eddie has gathered up a lot of houseplants recently, tending to them, taking care of them, babying them. The first ones were sent to the hospital by his friends, and Eddie latched onto them. And now, Steve drags a new one home every week or two as a gift. Eddie is still recovering, might always be recovering, but his plants make him smile and give him something to do.
Wayne doesn't quite understand it, not with the black thumb he has, but it's like everything else about Eddie. Wayne doesn't have to understand it, to support him. If Eddie wants plants, they can have a whole houseful of them.
Eddie survived something he still hasn't fully explained to Wayne, might never, so if he wants to fill the house with greenery, so be it.
If he wants to fill the house with Steve Harrington, too, that's also just fine by Wayne.
Steve smiles shyly, "If you don't care that I put holes in the ceiling, that is."
Wayne doesn't care. "I'll help. I've got a stud finder, so we won't have them falling and cracking us on the noggin."
Steve laughs, and nods, "Thanks. What are you doing here?"
Wayne waves him over, getting Steve to follow him.
"Trying to pick fencing for the backyard. If Eddie's gonna keep dragging home strays, we'll need a place to put them," Wayne says, and Steve blushes, just a little.
"I could make a tent work," Steve teases, and Wayne squeezes his shoulder. Steve is always, and will always, be welcome in the house.
"Good to know, but I was thinking more along the lines of dogs, cats, raccoons. You know how he is," Wayne drawls, and Steve smiles. It's wishful thinking, because they both know the real reason for the fence. Eddie doesn't want to leave the house these days.
"I just assumed I'd get dog-ears," Wayne says, pointing at the slightly-rounded piece of wood on display. "But there are choices."
Steve studies them all, finally saying "I think Eddie would like the pointed ones the most. Looks dangerous," Steve says.
Wayne nods. He was thinking the same thing.
"They're narrower, be more work to set," Wayne mutters.
Steve turns to look at him, "I'll help you, you know that."
Wayne nods. He knows Steve will. He's a good kid, who spends most of his time hanging out in their new little house, doting on Eddie in one way or another. Wayne isn't blind. He knows what this is, what these boys feel for each other, even if Eddie hasn't told him yet.
He will. Wayne just has to be patient.
"Sounds good, kid," Wayne says, and Steve grins, big and bright. Like he wasn't sure his help would be accepted.
"I don't know much about building a fence, but I can learn. I can follow instructions," Steve assures, and Wayne pats him on the back.
"Let's double-check my math here," Wayne says, pulling a small notepad out of his pocket, rerunning his figures.
Once he's got a good number, Wayne directs them towards the stain options. Steve picks one with a red tint, and Wayne nods. Looks good to him.
When they get to the counter, he takes Steve's basket and adds it to his.
"You don't have to do that," Steve says.
Wayne knows he doesn't, but it's for Eddie and it's just a few dollars worth of hooks and bolts. He's definitely gonna get his money back in fence-building help.
"I know, I want to," Wayne says, opening his wallet.
Outside, Steve helps the guys from the lumber department load up the trailer full of the pickets.
"See you at home?" Wayne questions, and Steve nods and smiles.
"Yeah, at home," he answers, walking towards his car, with his small sack of hardware.
And they spend days hanging the over-abundance of plants in front of every window in the house, so many that it seems like they're living in a greenhouse, and then they work on the fence. Putting it up, picket by picket, together.
Sometimes, Eddie comes and sits on the patio and watches, but it still takes a lot out of him, even now, months later. Wayne's worried he might never fully recover.
But, Steve works hard to entertain Eddie. Steve's funny, and he treats Eddie real good. That's all that will ever matter to Wayne. Eddie's his boy, and by extension, Steve's his boy now, too.
Eddie and Steve fight over the radio, a welcome sound, and Steve's won.
So, John Lennon's singing about a beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful boy.
Wayne knows that feeling well.
He's got two of those beautiful boys, now.
close your eyes, have no fear, the monster's gone, he's on the run and your daddy's here, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful boy John Lennon, Beautiful Boy

Historical omegaverse au idea(s) I may never write but by the gods do I want to
I’m gonna be honest. I’ve been reading a couple historical omegaverse fics (specifically here and here) and I also watched The Nun II recently and idk. Ignoring the demon/horror aspect, I just kind of got caught with the idea of rural boarding school teacher and the lowly grounds worker there. With o!Steve as the teacher and a!Eddie as the groundskeeper of course.
~
Picture it. Steve has “adopted” Max (I know, I know, it’s usually Dustin, but since Claudia isn’t going to be in the final season, I just can’t stand to get rid of her and Max makes the most sense for needing a new guardian) but according to paperwork to keep Max safe, they have lied and said that Max is biologically his. Perhaps him taking her in was one of the reasons why his high society family has disowned him and now he’s a vaguely destitute teacher that he only got the job of because his friend Robin (who teaches foreign language obvi) vouched for him. His being a teacher there allows Max to attend classes, though some of the snootier kids are assholes about it.
Anyways, Eddie works the grounds with his uncle, both also quite destitute but they have a good thing going there, though they are always treated poorly by the rich children there. The exceptions are of course the Wheeler child, the Sinclair children, and the Henderson child, as well as their friends the Hopper-Byers children who are there on scholarship. This is the group that welcomes Max into their fold eventually too.
Eddie of course thinks Steve is a bit too snooty when he first lays eyes on him, but then quickly realizes Steve isn’t like that at all. (Steve meanwhile thinks Eddie is uncouth until realizing he’s actually quite gentle and sensitive.) As well, if he has a child at such a young age, Eddie realizes that Steve must have had her probably around his first heat right after presenting. This is a belief everyone holds, and one Steve and Max actively encourages to prevent them taking Max away from him, but it does lead to them both being look down upon frequently and has ruined all prospects for Steve.
There’s obviously lots of pining, plenty of misunderstandings, and lots of Robin and Wayne and Max watching these two idiots dance around each other and face palming. Robin is of course the only one who knows the truth about Max because Robin knew Steve before he was disowned, and knew about Max’s past too. Maybe, just maybe, Steve rescued her from an abusive household. A violent stepfather, an abusive stepbrother, an alcoholic mother…maybe Steve helps her escape and leaves his past life behind.
MAYBE the reason Steve and Max crossed paths was because the Hargroves and the Harringtons were in talks of an arranged match between a!Billy and Steve. Steve didn’t want it, saw how miserable Max was, and basically kidnapped Max (with her consent) and ran away with her to give them both a chance at a better life.
Which is why, after Eddie and Steve finally start to make their moves, the climax of the story angst begins where Billy has found them (maybe Neil is dead idk and Billy took over managing the family), claiming Steve belongs to him and offering to drop all kidnapping charges if he returns quietly with Max. Eddie learns the truth about Max’s parentage then, and Steve’s past, and the whole lot of them come up with a solution that I don’t know what it is yet.
Maybe Steve sacrifices himself and agrees to return and mate with Billy only if Max can stay with her new friends and Robin and for the Hargroves forget about her existence. Billy would eventually accept this. Maybe while Steve and Billy are set to return home, Eddie rushes to prevent their departure and challenges Billy to a duel or something.
Blah blah blah Eddie wins of course and Steve and Max get to stay and Steve officially adopts her, and he and Eddie finally get together and knock boots. And Steve and Eddie love Max as their own and eventually give her a younger sibling which she then fears they’ll love more than her and worries Steve will regret adopting her but obviously that’s not true and Steve and Eddie make sure she knows that she is theirs in all ways. Their first child, no matter what.
Anyways yeah. Maybe one day I’ll do the research necessary for this. Also when I have time to devote myself to this story in its whole. Definitely deserves at least 50k I feel. And I sadly just don’t have time for that right now.
THAT BEING SAID.
I also really adore the idea of teacher Eddie and groundskeeper Steve, because I love reversing tropes and I love making Steve work with his hands in a lowly position, especially if he used to be from a “proper” family, but then the plot would definitely change some. Steve could honestly remain as the omega in this situation too, or switch it up and make him the alpha. Probably get rid of the parent aspect, unless perhaps it’s post-divorce Susan who has become an alcoholic and Eddie did actually officially adopt her because they had been neighbors or something before he moved for a better life.
OR Steve is the teacher but the above about Max and Eddie is still true and she can only attend the school because he’s the groundskeeper which still causes issues with the popular rich kids. And Steve is the teacher who takes a shining to her. Not sure what the main drama aspect would be then. Maybe Eddie is framed for something and is being sent away from the school or arrested or something, and Steve & Co. prove his innocence.
~
Idk. So many options. My issue with aus is that I also come up with aus of aus because I can’t decide how most I would love things to go which then makes it difficult to actually write anything 😂
-
If anyone else wants to use any of these ideas in the meantime, feel free! Just tag credit and link the fic so I can read it!

Comparing The Avengers to the Justice league but it's actually accurate
We're just gonna do the main ones because otherwise we'd be here forever
I'm also mainly using mcu characterizations because I'm not as familiar with Marvel comics as I am with DC
Iron Man - Batman
This one goes without saying
Tony is literally Batman and Brucie Wayne put together
Billionaire Playboy Philantropist Superhero who?
They both have ridiculous paranoia
They're rich orphans with British butler (or butler adjacent if we're talking about Jarvis)
Incredibly smart and know it
They both run multimillion dollar companies
and work to better the world both in and out of their super hero persona's
Thor - Aquaman
Non human royalty
friendly and funny
Both of them have a strong sense of duty and loyalty towards their people
They just don't get normal society a lot of the time
Also interwoven magic and science
and they both have really strong elementally based powers
plus a very specific weapon that is inherently associated with them
to be honest, I don't actually know much about aquaman but it feels right
Captain America - Wonder Woman
They are literally soldiers
They both fought in a world war
Also Diana's love intrest is literally a blonde soldier named Steve
Both of them have a strong sense of duty and moral obligation
They're also the most fond of proteges and younger heros
I'm sorry but Steve had no business being so nice to Peter during the airport battle
Dude you are literally fighting each other
Idk the military background makes them more similar in my opinion
also the fact that they're super behind on a lot of modern day stuff
Like everyone remembers Diana discovering ice cream don't we?
and grandpa steve my beloved
Hulk - Superman
okay this one was a little hard
at first I was gonna do Guy Gardner cuz green guy with anger issues. But Guy's kind of an asshole and Bruce is a sweetheart
so then I thought the Flash for the science but I don't think Bruce is into puns enough to match with either Barry or Wally
But Clark is perfect
Clark is a dork
But he is genuinely really intelligent
also they literally wear the same glasses
I think Clark and Bruce would get along really well
If you want to talk about the anger issues
Well
We've all scene Batman V. Superman
Tbh not my favorite version of superman
Clark is obviously not quite prone to rage
and it's definitely no where near hulk levels though
But when he's angry it gets destructive real fast
think about most of his fights with doomsday
Constantly worries about his own strength and hurting the people he loves
Which is a struggle both of them are characterized by
Black Widow - Orphan/Black Bat/Batgirl
okay I know cass isn't technically a member of the league
but hear me out
also I'm not actually sure which title is Cass's current one
anyways
both were raised from childhood to be a lethal weapon
and they truly are
they both have a major guilt complex over the lives they've taken
and that's one of the biggest factors for them becoming a hero
they joined the good guys to get out of the assassin lifestyle
Also dancing?
like the widows were trained in ballet since it was the red room's cover
and cass dances as an escape
I think it's poetic
Also they both are the owners of their family's shared braincell
Cass is like Natasha but younger really
Hawkeye - Green Arrow
so I know at first glance this seems obvious
yk skilled archer or whatever
but I wasn't exactly for it at first
I'm not really Green Arrow's biggest fan
But I've recently been reading Mia's run as speedy
and despite the vast, and I mean vast, difference in her back story with Kate
Their mentors are very similar with their proteges
like Oliver is just so soft with mia and it's adorable
not to mention neither wanted a protege at first and then they go and basically adopt them
literally in oliver's case
Also Ollie's into pranking as much as Clint is
And admittedly Oliver is just as strongly attached to his family as Clint is
if we ignore the thing with roy because wtf Oliver
Runner ups:
Thor and Wonder Woman: mythology and their whole fish-out-of-water-ness in modern society
Thor and Captain Marvel: again mythology, lightning powers, and also their childlike nature (literally in Billy's case)
Black Widow and Black Canary: badasses that keep the men on their team in line. need I say more?
Iron Man and Green Arrow: only thing that got me is that Ollie's not nearly smart enough to go toe to toe with Tony
Vision and Martian Manhunter: they can pass through walls and they just don't get humans
Scarlett Witch and Zatanna/ Dr Strange and Constantine: I don't think this requires elaboration
Winter Soldier and Jason Todd: fallen hero presumed dead starts working for the bad guys before switching back to the good guys
Bonus:
Spiderman and Dick!Robin
they're bendy
they love puns
they love swinging in the air
they're smart
they give their mentors high blood pressure
everyone loves them
they have a lot of grief
they have a thing for really smart, badass red heads
Ball of sunshine with ridiculous anger issues
also I think a meeting between Dick and Peter would be a disaster in the best way possible

#damian wayne#fearing Damian under Zdarsky again but at least we get more Jorge Jimenez Damian 😭#Ivan Tao’s listed as the 1:25 variant for B&R but i only see Di Meo’s Nika design cover for it? i’ll edit later if nothing changes#the WW summaries are including Trinity so i’m still under the assumption super sons are part of that#they’re not mentioned so Trinity MIGHT finally be having these backups with Wonder girls instead!#still floored about Juni Ba Damian comic art...a month ago i was on his old portfolio site trying to see if he did cons or commissions#the answer is no lol but we're getting a whole comic instead!! 😭#my biggest hangup is going to be his Al Ghul intro for what's supposed to be an 'accessible' comic so this could be a problem...#damian waynesday

Headcanon: Wayne, Claudia, Joyce & Hopper meeting Steve's parents who are neglectful & pretty cruel to their son & realize that Steve is sooo good without having parents to help raise him (maybe he gets adopted by one of them)
Okay picture this:
Steve is 14, his parents haven’t been home in a month.
Hopper finds it weird that he’s constantly catching rides with friends or walking places when his parents are loaded and could easily have someone drive him.
He drives by his house late one night and sees one light on upstairs, assumes it’s Steve’s bedroom, and decides to stop and check in when he sees an empty driveway.
Steve comes to the door, clearly home alone, and Hop asks how long he’s been alone.
Steve’s scared to tell him the truth but he’s at the age where he’s just scared enough of cops to not wanna lie to him.
Hop is pissed. Tells him to pack a bag for a few days because he’s staying with someone he trusts. An adult.
That adult is Claudia Henderson, who doesn’t even need to know everything to know that Steve needs love.
That’s how he actually meets Dustin, ends up sharing a room with him for a couple nights until his parents get back in town.
Hopper unleashes pure fury on them, says if they didn’t want the responsibility of a kid, they shouldn’t have had one. They argue back that he’s old enough to take care of himself now and he doesn’t have any right to “kidnap” him and bring him to a person’s home they don’t know.
Claudia is there for all of it, so is Steve.
Hopper tells them they’re lucky he didn’t get CPS involved and that he still might if they don’t figure out how to be parents.
Steve is cowering in the chair in the corner, watching his parents fight for their reputation, but not for him.
He finally speaks up, finally gains the courage he needs to say that he liked staying with Claudia and Dustin, that he knows his parents don’t want him.
After hours of going back and forth, his parents agree to send money to Claudia for groceries and care of him and he gets to have a family.
When Joyce finds out, she starts having Steve over for dinners a couple times a week too, and he becomes good friends with Jonathan instead of Tommy.
He becomes another older brother to Will, and they actually come out to each other at the same time.
Will is how he meets Eddie. Will looks up to Eddie as a DM and Steve doesn’t understand most of the game, but he knows that seeing Eddie’s passion turn Will’s passion into more.
Eddie and Steve start hanging out, usually alone, usually when Wayne is at work. It’s slow, the way they fall in love.
They’re two teenagers who never really saw romantic love, not the healthy kind, so they don’t even realize they’re in it until Wayne asks how long they’ve been dating one night when they’re all having dinner.
Wayne didn’t know much of Steve’s story, not until he shared it one evening shortly after graduation.
He hugged Steve to him tight.
“You’ve got a family, a family who loves ya, but I’m here too. You’re my boy, too.”
Steve grew up feeling like a burden, feeling unwanted and unloved. But ironically, when he lost the only family he had, he gained more than he could have ever expected.

Always Been You (Dick Grayson x Reader) - Chapter 3
Always Been You (Dick Grayson x Reader)Reader Insert: she/her pronouns Word Count: 2627 Warnings: death, violence, fighting, bloody wounds, angst, infuriatingly oblivious love interest, slowburn Spoilers: Young Justice Seasons 1-3 plot partially, but it ended in 2022 so catch up.
Will Dick and Y/N be able to put their past behind them and save the Amazons' homeland? Or will they fall, unable to tell one another their true feelings?
~~~
'You are five miles from the estimated target, Master Dick,' Alfred said over the intercom of the Bat Wing.
Immediately upon entering Wayne Manor, Dick had rushed to his childhood room - the one he still used on the occasion he worked with Bruce as the Dynamic Duo, or he needed some space from his duties as Bludhaven's hero - and packed a small duffle of clothes and weapons and ran straight for the Bat Cave. As promised, Alfred had the Bat Wing waiting, ready for take off, and Dick barely greeted the old man before leaving Gotham far behind.
Dick had been flying for almost twelve hours and hadn't slept a wink. Sitting at the control panel with only a wide window of open sea to look at, Dick rubbed his tired eyes as the shadows of sleep flickered in the corners of his vision. He had to stay awake, just a little bit longer at least.
And then... Well, he'd cross that bridge when he got to it.
'Is there anything else you need from me, Master Dick?' Alfred asked.
Dick shook his head initially, then remembered Alfred couldn't see him. 'No, thank you, Alfred,' Dick replied, sitting up straighter in his seat. 'I should be fine from here on out.'
It was quiet for a moment, and Dick thought Alfred had signed off accidentally. But then he spoke. 'Are you sure there is something out here? I know you and your friends' findings seem well-supported, but there is only open ocean. There isn't even an under water volcano or ancient mountain range recorded there.'
'Which makes it an even more suspicious place,' Dick countered. 'Trust me Alfred, there is something out here.'
'Let's just hope Miss Y/N is too, or you'll have wasted Master Bruce's fuel. And I will tell you now, he will not be pleased about that.'
The mention of her name caused Dick's heart rate to increase with anxiety. But he quickly recovered as he scoffed. 'I don't know why he's complaining,' Dick said nonchalantly. 'He's the billionaire of the family, after all.'
'Have you seen the price of fuel these days?'
That caused Dick to chuckle slightly, just imagining the singular raised eyebrow Alfred used to ask the silent question of Are you serious? In that moment, he was once again grateful for Alfred. He barely asked any questions as to why Dick needed the Bat Wing, he just trusted Dick that it was for a good reason. Unlike Bruce, where trust needed to be hard earned, Alfred had always given his trust and love unconditionally.
The Bat Wing suddenly jerked as it seemed to hit something. Or, maybe, something hit it.
'Master Dick, what was that?" Alfred asked, worry lacing his words.
Suddenly alert, Dick brought up the different cameras hidden in the ship to try and find what had cause the sudden shift, but sound nothing.
'I'm not sure, Alfred,' Dick answered, running diagnostics over the ship in case of damage. 'There seems to be no damage to the Bat Wing, and there is nothing on the radar indicating another ship or flying creature of sorts.'
The ship rocked again, and Dick gripped tighter to the control handles as he took the ship off autopilot. 'What in the world!'
'Master Di-,' Alfred said, but his words were glitchy and some parts were coming through slowly. 'A-re yo- all rig-' Alfred was cut off before he could finish.
'Alfred? Alfred,' Dick called, but he got no reply. He slammed the control handles in frustration. 'Damnit.' He was on his own now.
However, his annoyance dissipated at the site he'd only ever seen in books he'd borrowed from Y/N when they were children.
To say Themyscira stood atop a mountain would be an inaccurate description. It was more like Themyscira was the mountain, with a long staircase weaving and winding up the entire mountain from the ivory beach and cerulean waters at the base of it. There were small stone huts with woven roofs closer to the beach, but quickly evolved into larger houses and buildings of impressive white columns and marble. As Dick flew closer to the island, he spotted a large coliseum used for sports and physical trials like the ruins in Greece, and a small amphitheatre next door that no doubt was used for the arts.
Atop Themyscira's mountain could only be the royal palace, held up by intricately carved statues of women and marble columns, decorated in plates of gold and held together by green grape vines that covered the palace walls, the statues, the columns.
The bed time stories he'd heard from Wonder Woman when he and Y/N would have sleepovers was more than his imagination could ever conceptualise, and the few descriptions and drawings of the island in the books he'd read were amateur attempts that held no candle to the real deal.
It was, in a word, paradise.
I must've hit the invisible barrier before, Dick deduced as he took in the sight of it all. That's why communications were knocked. That's why he'd felt so anxious and tired the closer he got. Now that he'd passed through, he felt ten times better.
A beeping pulled Dick out his trance, drawing his attention to the radar. Something was coming at him. Fast.
Dick looked up in time to see a large fire ball flying at him and barely dodged it. It was so hot Dick felt its heat through the window as it scraped by.
'Woah!' Dick cried, angling the Bat Wing so Dick could see where the fireball had come from. And, more importantly, who had thrown it. Down on the ivory beach was a line of catapults set up Dick hadn't spotted before, and he could just make out an army milling about around each catapult as they reloaded the catapults.
Before he knew it, he was swerving as another fireball flew at him, this time catching part of the left wing and melting it. Sirens blared, indicating the damage, but Dick didn't have time to worry about that. The Amazons thought he was a threat. He needed to change that, or he'd be a goner.
Crazy an idea as it was, Dick manoeuvred through the line of fireballs the Amazons catapulted at him towards the beach. Once he was close enough, he turned on the speaker so the outside world could hear him. 'Please, Amazons of Themyscira, I mean you no harm,' Dick announced to them, hoping he sounded genuine. 'I am going to land my aircraft on your shore. I just want to ta-'
He didn't have time as a small boulder connected with the left wing, sending the Bat Wing into a spin that Dick couldn't control. Sirens blared in the cockpit, reds light flashed and his front window lit up with the message SYSTEM FAILURE in bright red letters. The steering was shot, his vision was impaired, so Dick just closed his eyes and braced for impact.
The Bat Wing hit the beach hard, knocking the wind out of Dick for a moment. Once he'd regained his breath and the world had stopped spinning, Dick checked his immediate surroundings. He was in one piece still, and the Bat Wing hadn't exploded. Good start.
Before he could unplug himself, a spearhead stabbed through the glass of the front window, shattering it completely as the Amazon wielding it pulled it out. Dick was temporarily blinded by the sudden invasion of sunlight to his senses, but he still put his hands up in surrender in case they still thought him a threat.
'Please,' he begged through laboured breaths. 'Please, I don't mean you any harm. I just need to talk with someone you might know. Please.'
'Síko órthios, pareísaktes,' a strong voice hissed above him, her words whipping out like a delicate snake. She yanked him from his seat, breaking the seatbelt as she did, and threw him onto white, hot sand.
Vision coming back ever so slowly, Dick saw more figures approaching where he laid on the beach, spears and swords and shields in hand. All women, and all wearing brown leather skirts, sandals, and breast plates and bronze helmets of the ancient greeks. A small crowd formed around him, leaving no room for escape.
Realising this, Dick hauled himself to his feet and spun around to survey the group with his hands raised. The women ranged from youthful to mature, but all of them looked capable of killing him should he dare run. Capable, and willing.
'Poios eísai esý?' a woman with long brunette hair asked. She looked slightly older than him, perhaps mid to late 20s. But knowing how old Wonder Woman had lived for already, Dick was almost sure all of the women surrounding him were much older than they appeared.
I really regret not taking those Greek classes with Y/N now, he thought to himself, not having a clue what the woman had asked him. When he didn't reply though, she repeated her question but with more annoyance and aggression, pointing her spear towards his chest.
'I am Dick Grayson,' he said, not sure if they could understand him or not. 'I mean you no harm. Please, I must talk with someone you know... Do you understand me?'
The blank faces he received in return were answer enough. The brunette turned to two other women beside her, whispering to one another. It only lasted a moment, for then the brunette raised her spear higher towards Dick's throat. The rest of the women also raised their weapons, all pointed at him.
'Ánthropos apó to exoterikó,' she announced for all to hear, her delivery final and true, 'edó tha petháneis!'
Just as she raised her spear, Dick threw his hands up again and cried, 'Y/N!'
He waited for pain, for the sensation of falling and then nothing, but it never came. The brunette paused, spear still raised above her, and looked at him curiously.
'Pós gnorízeis tin prinkípissá mas?' she asked, and to Dick's surprise, he recognised one word. Prinkipissá. Princess.
'Yes,' he said, seizing potentially his only chance at surviving. 'She would be your princess. Sorry, your prinkipissá. Daughter of your champion, Diana.'
At the mention of the mighty Wonder Women, the brunette lowered her weapon entirely and turned to the other women as quiet murmurs broke out amongst the group. Dick wasn't sure what he'd started, but he knew they knew of who he spoke of, and what power her name held. Not just anybody could wield her name.
'I came here to speak with Prinkipissá Y/N,' Dick continued, and then he put his hands together as if he were about to pray. 'Please, can you lead me to her? Is she even here?'
The brunette and her two friends looked him up and down for a moment before consulting one another one last time. After what felt like an eternity, the brunette stepped forward and looked him dead in the eyes.
'Piáste ton!' she cried, and two women grabbed both his arms, ensuring he couldn't escape. 'Tha ton páme stin prinkípissá mas.'
She then turned away, and Dick was lead by the arms after her and the rest of the crowd. He managed look over his shoulder to see the wreckage of the Bat Wing. The left wing was one metal sheet away from tearing off completely, and the shattered glass and the many dents in the side of the ship just added to Dick's dismay. Oh yeah, Bruce is going to be pissed.
If the Amazons let him live and he ever got off the island, Bruce would definitely make sure Dick suffered long and hard.
Dick was lead up hundreds and hundreds of steps, walking through the bustling city of women and young girls all going about their daily lives. For some reason, it was off putting to Dick to see women and children doing the washing or playing games in the open street. He wasn't sure why, but he envisioned the whole island as warrior women who all fought and died for each other and their home.
They could probably still whoop my ass, he thought as he was marched by some children who were previously playing a game with some dice and a ceramic cup before he came along and stole their attention. It came to Dick's mind that these young girls probably had never seen a male before, and so he smiled at them as kindly as he could. Some of the children smiled back, others had their mothers nearby collect them and take them inside. Dick couldn't blame them for it. Wouldn't he do the same for his child if the roles were reversed.
Why the hell am I thinking about children right now? he asked himself, but he didn't have time to ponder the question as they quickly walked up a final set of stairs into an open field of green covered in warrior women training. When the whole group stopped, Dick was brought to such a startling halt that he thought his arms were going to pop out of their sockets. Thank God for that, he thought, feeling his legs ache with all the climbing. Or is it Zeus I should thank? Maybe Hera? Athena?
The brunette raised her spear, and those not holding Dick prisoner did the same. 'Prinkipissá,' she called out above the din of all the sparring and training. 'Échoume kápoion gia esás.'
Dick wasn't sure who the brunette was talking to at first, but then his gaze settled on a group of women just ahead of them. It seemed it was a six-versus-one situation, as six women surrounded one young woman with familiar H/C hair. The six women ran at the young woman in the middle, all taking swings with their fists and swords, aiming for her head and legs and mid section. While the young woman took a few punches, she didn't flinch with pain. She would just grab her attacker's wrist and flip her over and slam her into the ground.
The fight only lasted a minute, and ended with the H/C haired pointing a sword at her final opponent's throat as she pressed her to the ground with her foot.
When she flipped her hair as she turned to face their group, only then did Dick fully realise who it was.
'Y/N!' he cried out, the brightest smile spreading across his face. Two years since he'd last seen her, his best friend. After the not-so-very-warm welcome, he was beyond relieved to see a familiar face.
But instead of reciprocating his smile with the one he'd always admired since they were children, Y/N paled as if she had seen a ghost. Her whole body seemed to freeze up as her eyes connected with Dick's, and for a moment Dick feared he had mistaken some poor girl for his best friend.
But her shock melted away, and Dick was met with angry eyes and a stony face. Oh, yeah. That's Y/N. He couldn't recall the amount of times he'd seen that expression before, but there was no mistaking it.
His fear turned towards himself as she suddenly, with sword still in hand, stormed towards him, ignoring the other women around her still training.
'Y/N, it's me Dick,' he said, just in case she hadn't recognised him, but still she came at him, raising the sword to her side. 'Wait, what are you doing?
As she stood a step from him, she changed her grip on the sword's hilt and swung the butt of it at his head.
'Hey! Don't-'
The last thing he saw were Y/N's angry eyes of E/C before pain exploded from his right temple and darkness overcame him.
My God Longs For Me - Part 1.1
Written for an anon prompt, which can be read in its entirety on this fic’s masterpost.
Pairing: Steve Harrington/Eddie Munson Rating: T (E for later chapters) Summary: When Steve was a child, he was abducted and brought to the cult, the Hellfire Club, as he was prophesied to be the wife of the dark forest god they worshiped. Steve enjoyed his time there, especially the time he spent with the cult leader's nephew, Eddie. This wasn't meant to last however as Steve was eventually returned to his parents. Thanks to the deprogrammer that his parents hired and time, Steve has mostly forgotten the cult that raised him. That is until he goes on a camping trip and his friends start to get murdered one by one with the only connection between the killings being the ritual offerings to the cult's gods and the strange dreams Steve has before each one. Now Steve must piece together his past to discover who is murdering his friends in the present. (Inspired heavily by various horror movies and is a horror story itself.) Trigger Warning: Child Abuse, Feminization, Brainwashing Eventual Trigger Warning: Dead Dove: Do Not Eat, Ritual Sacrifices, Gore, Mpreg, Body Horror, Monster Fucking
According to his parents, when he was three, Steve had been abducted by a “satanic” cult called the Hellfire Club. If Steve was being honest, he barely remembered being taken. The only bit he did vaguely remember was playing on the swings while his nanny read her book when another little boy approached him. His name was Eddie, and he told Steve that he’d been chosen. Eddie took Steve’s hand then led him to a black sedan, where Eddie’s uncle and adoptive father, Wayne, sat waiting to drive them back to the compound.
The compound was located deep in the forest, forged from the ruins of an abandoned summer camp. They were all nice and welcoming. No one told him to sit up straight or to shut up because the grown-ups were talking. All of them wanted to hear what he had to say and treated him like he was special, almost to the point of reverence. It was different from home where his parents were gone all the time and his nanny ignored him in favor of her own interests. Almost instantly, Steve felt like he never wanted to go back to the Harringtons, that here was his home.
Steve was given new clothes to wear, tons of flowery hair accessories and earthy dresses. They let him grow his hair out, and once he got older, they showed him how to wear make-up. Steve loved it. He felt pretty, and when Eddie saw him, he’d say all sorts of nice things to him, like calling him beautiful. It could’ve been because they were promised to each other, as that’s why they’d taken Steve. He was going to be Eddie’s bride once Eddie took over the compound from Wayne. Still, the words made Steve’s insides flutter all the same.
Being promised to Eddie hadn’t felt like anything at first except the shared excitement that he’d get to be married to his best friend. Eddie created the best games for them to play, and he had such an amazing imagination, that it was hard not to be drawn to Eddie’s charismatic ways. All Steve wanted to do was spend every waking second with the other boy, so it was no surprise that feelings had started to develop once they reached puberty and the time of their marriage would be approaching soon.
It started out small, just holding hands during the summer nights and snuggling in front of the fire in the winter. Then when they were thirteen, they shared their first kiss. They kissed more after that, had even been talking about taking it to the next level, French kissing, but they never got a chance because that’s when the police finally tracked him down, separating him from Eddie to return him to his rightful home where he lived with the Harringtons.
How they found him was that the news had done a special on him, the ten-year anniversary of his disappearance. It had shocked the nation that a boy from such a high-income neighborhood could be taken without a trace, so the issue of safety plagued the minds of the upper-class as they worried about their heirs being snatched from the playground. The special went into all of this, showed his parents’ impassioned pleas for the kidnapper to return their son, and the video surveillance from the store across from where Steve had been taken.
As luck would have it, someone recognized the car as the one Wayne drove, and one police raid later, the Hellfire Club had been dismantled while Wayne was arrested. Steve didn’t know what happened to Eddie after that, as he was whisked away from the arms of the only boy he’d loved, only to be deposited into those of the Harringtons. They had been there at the police station with his mother crying when she saw his appearance, hugging him too tight and pressing rough kisses into his cheek while moaning about what they had done to her little boy.
The Harringtons then took away his dresses and makeup while forcing him to cut his hair. They explained to him that boys didn’t wear clothes that were clearly reserved for little girls. It was unnatural and made him a freak. That was how they knew the cult was evil and didn’t care about him, they said, as no self-respecting person would let their son be a freak, which is why they found the best deprogrammer to make Steve their kind of normal again.
Once he was presentable, the Harringtons started bringing him to news stations to do interviews about his kidnapping, so he could share his harrowing tale with the rest of the world. He didn’t tell his story as much as he sat there while his parents talked about satanic rituals and human sacrifices, how they were so lucky Steve didn’t end up as one. No one cared about what Steve actually experienced or about how nice they’d been to him or how he’d been promised to Eddie. They had their narrative, and Steve was supposed to nod along without complaint.
Steve went on every news and talk show that they had on air, paraded out in front of the audience who looked at him with sympathy, as if he’d been tortured for ten years straight. On top of television appearances, his dad met with important business executives and producers. He had sold the rights to Steve’s story, which would make them even richer than they already were, even if none of what they sold was true. Though he supposed no one cared if it was true as long as it made a good story and won them a couple of best drama awards.
All the while, Steve waited for Eddie to show up to save him. Eddie had promised that he’d always be there when Steve needed him, because husbands took care of their wives. He never showed up, however, and Steve started to believe that maybe his parents were right, that Eddie had never cared about him, that like everyone else, Eddie only cared about what Steve could give him instead of about his well-being. It felt like a piece of him had died when he realized that Eddie had abandoned him.
The sensationalism of his abduction did die down eventually, allowing Steve to return to what his life would’ve been like if Wayne had never taken him. Steve dressed as a boy, and he started dating girls, even if he never loved any of them like he loved Eddie. He also started going to school in their small town, and his dad picked out some boys for Steve to be friends with because their fathers were well-connected.
Unlike at the compound, when Steve had trouble learning, they didn’t slow down to explain it to him in more detail until he understood, but the teachers looked at him like he was an idiot who was wasting everyone’s time. And the boys that became his friends weren’t like Eddie. They were mean and cruel, but Steve was trapped. He had to comply or else, and he couldn’t just run away because the police would place him right back where he started.
Time passed, and before Steve knew it, he had barely graduated from college with a degree in finance, so he could work in his dad’s company. He was still friends with the same group of boys that his dad had picked out for him, too. They went to the same university, took the same classes, and were now all going to work together, because like him, their dad expected them to follow in their footsteps like the good sons they were.
WIP Wednesday
Life has been pretty mean to me lately and I want to write, but I don’t want to put too much more pressure on myself, so I’m doing this WIP Wednesday differently. Whichever gets the most votes is the one I’ll work on and post something about…Next Wednesday.
Brief summaries of the WIP’s are below the cut.
you mean it isn’t normal to cuddle your drug dealer? - the one where Steve needs help and Eddie has a better idea than just weed.
Cleaning Headstones - Steve likes to go to the cemetery and give people their names back.
Lazy Petals - taking my grandparents love story and making it Steddie.
Secret Elven Prince - Steve escaped from the Fae Realm and finds himself relying on a human from a trailer park to stay safe. Dungeons and Dragons becomes a guilty pleasure.
Claudia Henderson POV - this part focuses more on Claudia’s relationship with Wayne rather than her adopting Steve and helping him realize he has a family who loves him.
Oral Fixation - Steve constantly has something in his mouth, most of the time it’s candy. Sometimes, it’s one of Eddie’s rings.
Code Red at Harrington’s - Eddie comes back wrong, but that doesn’t stop Steve from taking him in and trying to help him rediscover his humanity.
Vampires and Shifters and… Dragons? - Eddie comes back wrong, Steve has always been a shapeshifter, and not all dragons are as bad as they could be.
Trans!Steddie - Steve is mtf and Eddie is ftm and they are both so incredibly in love with each other that it’s kind of sickening to those around them.
*Currently Untitled* - it’s also currently more of a brainstorm. Meant to be a surprise, but I’ll still work on it if it wins.
Inbox - I have a decent amount of prompts in the ol’ inbox. If this one wins, I’ll work on the one that I think will be the easiest for me to get the furthest on.
