OK HOLD ON IF YOU WERE GOING WITH YOUR TEDROMEDA TIMELINE, DOES TED DIE FIRST HERE AS WELL? EVEN NYMPHADORA?
YES. yes. yes,. it is horrible. tedromeda are divorced right. they got divorced when dora was around 5-6ish but they're horribly codependent so they basically see each other four times a week ("i left something" "i made too much food" "can't we have dinner as a family for once?" "i thought dora would want to see me"). everyone has horrible relationship with each other, dora hates resents andromeda for being mentally ill and ted for choosing his wife over his daughter every single time, ted is horrifically in love with andromeda and would genuinely let her gut him if it would make her feel better (not cute he is suffering) and feels horribly guilty about his relationship with his daughter. dora lives with him but he can barely pay attention to her because when andromeda calls he's gone gone gone, he's pure guilt. now andromeda. andromeda my wife. she has done baddd things . she's been drinking for ever, she has a shit relationship with food and sex and her family and intimacy, she hits and throws shit and hurts people when she's angry and she completely puts herself in this little isolated bubble that only ted can (occasionally) come through.
but like. she's getting better. as dora gets older, andromeda gets better. she taking muggle meds and she's not drinking, she not as angry anymore, she doesn't hit (ted or herself), she eats, she's good. ted and her are living together again when he dies, they have what-ifs of getting married again once the war's over, they want to be a happy family... and then ted dies. and it's bad. it's horrible. andromeda has, literally, no one else. she's cut off all her friends and even her own daughter doesn't like her much - but ted's death brings them closer yk? he was always the neutral ground between them. so andromeda gets better, just slightly. and then dora dies.

Ted: dating a Black is great.
James: so great!
Remus: the best!
Ted: but they tend to be a tad judgmental.
James: almost punitive.
Remus: they are monsters.
Ted: that’s why the three of us formed a secret alliance to help each other cover up our little mistakes :)

Alice: Dating a Black cousin is great and all but...
James: But they can be a little mean.
Remus: And dramatic.
Alice: Vain too.
Ted: Oh, and irresponsible.
Rita: Downright cruel sometimes.
All five of them: But that's FINE...

I think we, as a fandom, should show more appreciation for Nymphadora Tonks. Her character is one of the most intriguing and fun to explore, especially with her unique metamorphmagus abilities. Plus, she’s so clearly queer-coded—it’s hard not to see her as canonically genderfluid.
But beyond her individuality, there’s her fascinating family dynamic. People often overlook that Tonks is also a Black, and there’s so much depth in exploring her life with Andromeda and Ted, as well as how her heritage shapes her identity.
She was a member of the Order of the Phoenix, a fierce fighter, and a devoted mother, even though she barely had time with Teddy. Tonks was an extraordinary character who deserves far more love and recognition for everything she was and stood for.

Pinky Promise | @black-sisters-microfic | Tedromeda-centric | Word Count : 695
Hogwarts, September 1964.
“You’re a mudblood, then?” Andromeda asked suspiciously. “I’ve never heard the name Tonks before.”
Ted Tonks, who had been unnecessarily cheerful up till this moment, dropped his smile immediately. “That’s not a nice thing to say.”
“Why?” Her brows pulled together in confusion. “It’s just a question. I won’t be offended if you ask me my blood status.”
Ted stared at her. “The difference is that you’re insulting me.”
“When did I insult you?” Andromeda threw up her hands in exasperation. “You’re the one who can’t answer a simple question!”
“Are you stupid?”
“Oh, clearly, I am,” she said. “Why else would I be wasting my time talking to you?”
Ted rolled his eyes. “I’m sorry, Your Highness, I’ll let you go so you can continue your bullying.”
“What!?” Andromeda shrieked indignantly. “I have never bullied anyone, nor do I want to!”
“Didn’t you just call me a mudblood?” asked Ted, eyebrow raised.
She groaned in frustration. “I only asked if you were. And you still haven’t answered me.”
“I’m not a mudblood,” Ted said pointedly. “I’m a muggle-born.”
Andromeda blinked. “Is—what is wrong with you?” she asked. “That’s exactly the same thing!”
“No, it’s not!”
“A muggle-born,” she began through gritted teeth, “is someone who has muggle parents. A mudblood is also someone who has muggle parents. I fail to see the difference.”
“When you say mudblood, it sounds like you think you’re better than me,” Ted said. When Andromeda pursed her lips and didn’t make a comment, he scoffed. “You do think you’re better than me, don’t you?”
“Well … yes,” she slowly nodded. “But that’s because I saw you trip and fall over nothing. You were just walking, there were no obstacles, and you still fell.”
“That can happen to anyone!” he pointed out indignantly, face flushing a light pink.
“It has never happened to me.”
Ted glared at her, his hands balled into fists at his sides. “Who the fuck cares—”
“Don’t use the word,” Andromeda hissed, eyes widening.
“What word?” Ted blinked. “Fuck?”
She nodded, distressed.
He huffed out a mirthless laugh. “So you can call me a mudblood but I can’t say fuck?”
Andromeda wanted to burst into flames right then and there because why was this boy being so difficult?
“It’s just a blood status,” she tried patiently. Maybe he doesn’t know since his parents are muggles. “So, you see I’m a pureblood because my parents are, too. If someone has one parent who’s not a pureblood, then that person is a half-blood. If you have both parents who are muggles, you’re a mudblood,” She held up her hand when he began to interrupt her. “It’s also called muggle-born, I know, but mudblood makes more sense. Pureblood, half-blood, mudblood.”
After that, Ted stared at her silently for a very long time. It seemed that he was contemplating his next words carefully, finally settling on, “We prefer to be called muggle-born because people use the other one in a bad way … it’s like how you don’t like hearing fuck because it’s a bad word. Mudblood is a bad word, too.”
Andromeda digested that, nodding slowly. “But then you can’t use that word, either.”
Ted’s face split into a helpless grin. “I promise that if you stop using the m-word, I’ll stop using the f-word.”
“Deal,” she nodded, satisfied with this. “Should we make an Unbreakable Vow?”
“What’s that?” he asked curiously.
“It’s an unbreakable vow,” she raised an eyebrow. “It means you make a vow that you can’t break.”
“I meant,” Ted rolled his eyes again, this time with a smile that seemed fond, “what would happen if I do end up saying fu—the word?”
“You’ll die,” she stated simply.
“Oh, good thing it’s not something dramatic and unnecessary.”
Andromeda laughed.
“We can do a pinky promise instead,” Ted told her. “It’s the muggle version of that vow, except you don’t die if you break it.”
“Then it’s not very binding, is it?”
He shrugged. “It’s about trust. You can break it, yes, but I would be trusting that you won’t … and vice versa, I hope.”
“Hmm,” she passed a small smile. “Alright. Let’s do this muggle promise of yours.”

I don't think Andromeda's rebellion was loud, like Sirius'. Not really.
I think Andromeda was a Black through and through. Her parent's pride: Slytherin, prefect, first of the class. She followed the rules, and she knew what her name entailed.
Andromeda Black used to scorn at muggleborns, to mumble stray "mudblood"s when the occasion was fit.
That's how her and Teddy first met. He and his Hufflepuff friends tripped with her, her books fell on the floor, just like a meetcute. But Andromeda didn't blush, she didn't feel like the protagonist of a romance movie.
She saw red. This careless Hufflepuffs had ruined her books, there was spilled ink all over her pages, and, worst of all, there wasn't a single pureblood amongst them.
Maybe she had already been having a bad day. Maybe, in any other situation she wouldn't have reacted, she would have been prideful.
But she cursed them out. She let out a long string of slurs that weren't even in use, a "this is what happens when they let fucking impure thieves into our school", etcetera, etcetera.
And she got a book to the face. Square, right in the middle.
Ted Tonks, one of the Hufflepuffs in the group, had grown tired of her racist rant, and had decided to put an end to it. The muggle way.
Hell ensued: Andromeda brought out her wand and started cursing. Ted charged at her with his bare hands (he was trying to prove a point). The rest of the Hufflepuffs scattered.
The teachers didn't take too long before they arrived and separated them, but Andromeda Black already had a black eye, and Ted Tonks had some ugly, bloody gashes where her curses had landed.
And they were forced to do Detention together.
They couldn't stand each other, from that point onwards. Until Andromeda started changing.
I don't think Andromeda's rebellion was loud. I think it was slow. I think she had to unlearn everything her parents had taught her, and I think at first she wasn't willing. But she was, eventually.
And she did change. She became better.

all the s/os of the black cousins have star tattoos.
Ted Tonks? Oh, you bet he has them littered all around his body.
Remus Lupin? Do you even need to ask?
James Potter? Hell fucking yes he has them. He has the Leo constellation, multiple stars around his torso, and the Canis Major constellation.
Rita Skeeter? She has them dotted around her hips and thighs.
Now, Lily Evans, well. She doesn't have stars, but you fucking bet she has flowers galore. She has flowers around her leg like they're growing up from her ankle, and she has one larger one right in the middle of her chest.

I have such a love of slightly rarer ships in big fandoms. I give you:
Wiseflower (Poppy Pomfrey x Minerva McGonagall) soo adorable, such a power couple too, kinda good cop bad cop, growing old together, outliving their students :'(
Perciver (Percy Weasley x Oliver Wood) roommates (and they were roommates), friends to lovers, ambition, 'Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy' by aeoneskova on ao3 is amazinggg
Nobleflower (Narcissa Black x Alice Longbottom) secret/forbidden love, so tragic, so so tragic, if you haven't read 'Alice, Look at Me' by Rollercoasterwords yet go do that immediately
Sydora (Sybill Trelawney x Pandora Lovegood) ravenclaw roommates, seers, loveable weirdos, they definitely match each other's freak
Quillkiller (Bellatrix Lestrange x Rita Skeeter) toxic, bit crazy, they love and hate one another, obsession, they scare me
Gilderat (Peter Pettigrew x Gilderoy Lockhart) if ykyk, Lockhart's cologne, this is so fucking hilarious to me yet I'm entirely serious when I say I love them
Andromeda Tonks x Ted Tonks (I know they're not rare but there's not much content focused on them and they have such a story)
I just love these ships so much, especially the wlw ones, they hold a special place in my heart <3.
I'm writing a wiseflower fic atm, it's early days yet but I have a few chapters posted and am hoping to post another this week! It's titled 'Falling' by Cherrybomb08 on ao3, but I might change the title at some point. 🫶

"Roar" - Jegulus microfic @into-the-jeggyverse - 544 words
-
“Angel, breathe,” James said calmly and held back a chuckle. “It’s just for a few hours.”
“I’ve never been alone with her! I don’t know how to take care of children! It’s not like I had a great frame of reference, did I?” Regulus worried.
James was torn between the humour of watching Regulus race around nervously and the ache in his heart knowing Regulus didn’t realise how good of a parent he could make one day. He took a step forward and held Regulus’s waist, not tight enough that he couldn’t move away if he wanted to, but enough that he knew James was there for him.
“Firstly, you won’t be alone, I’ll be there,” James reasoned. “And secondly, you’re great with Nymphadora. If you weren’t, Andromeda wouldn’t be trusting you to take care of her. Why do you think she asked you instead of Sirius?”
“Sirius is incompetent, anyone would be better than him at taking care of a child,” Regulus replied, but melted into James. James knew this hadn’t fully stopped him from panicking. At least he wasn’t visibly shaking anymore.
When the two of them arrived at Andromeda and Ted’s house, the couple were rushing around, dressed up for their date but clearly not ready to go. “We may have misjudged how far away the restaurant is,” Andromeda explained as she did her makeup. “We’re running a little late.”
“You look so pretty, Mummy!” Nymphadora exclaimed, tugging on Andromeda’s dress.
Andromeda crouched down once she had finished her makeup. “Thank you, mon amour. Daddy and I will be back in a few hours, okay? But James and Uncle Reggie will be here with you.”
After Andromeda and Ted left, Regulus stood there nervously for a moment before sitting next to Nymphadora on the sofa, where she was drawing and clutching a dinosaur teddy. “Er, I like your teddy, Dora. What’s his name?”
Dora made a ‘roar’ sound, and Regulus bit his lip to hold back a laugh. “That’s his name?” Dora agreed proudly, to which Regulus gave a serious nod. When she looked away, Regulus smiled widely, a look reserved for James and James only.
James sat beside him and looked between the two, unable to keep the hope that bloomed at the sight. For a long time, Regulus had sworn he would never be a parent, sure that being raised the way he had been would make him terrible with children. This was not a dealbreaker for James, of course, who would have given up every dream he had ever had for Regulus’s sake. He just wished that Regulus’s aversion to parenthood did not stem from the thought that he could ever be anything like his own mother and father.
Later that evening, once Nymphadora was asleep and James and Regulus were waiting for Andromeda and Ted to get home, Regulus spoke quietly. “James? Do you…Do you think I could be a good parent?”
“I think you would be an amazing parent, angel,” James answered truthfully.
“Okay,” Regulus said, and did not ask anything more. James knew that he was still scared, terrified that he would end up just like his parents. But he was slowly coming around to the idea of children, and that was enough for James.
