“Please,” she whispered. The villain paused.
A slow grin spread a cross their face.
“Begging so soon? Not very heroic.”
She laughed, and it hurt.
“Not heroic, no.”
The villain’s eyes narrowed, head tipping to the side as they regarded her.
Her eyes darted to the door, fear beginning to churn in her gut. Their face cleared as they followed her gaze, understanding writing itself on their skin.
“You’re afraid,” they observed. The villain stepped forward to where she knelt, knees digging into the ground. Their cool fingers wrapped around her chin and tipped her head up. “But not of me.”
She stilled, swallowing.
“I don’t know what you mean.”
The villain tutted, smile vicious and victorious and soft.
“Don’t lie to a liar.”
She closed her mouth.
The villain traced soothing circles along her jaw with their thumb. “You’re afraid your friends will get here in time,” they said softly. The hero made to jerk away, and the villains nails dug into her skin, eyes flashing in warning. “You’re afraid they’ll make it here in time to save you.”
Bitterly, tears rose in her eyes.
“Please,” her voice broke. The villain was silent.
They sighed.
“Up you get,” they tugged her up, wrapping an arm around her waist when she wobbled on numb knees. She closed her eyes.
She expected pain, the sharpness of finality, the crisp bite of death—but it wasn’t there.
When she opened her eyes, the villain was watching her.
Her gut sank.
“You aren’t going to kill me.”
The villain shrugged a shoulder.
“Oh, of course not. You want to die. What could be more torturous for you than leaving you alive?”
This time, the panic that curled in her gut was for the villain.
“Let me go then,” she said. The villain’s grip was stone on her waist.
“Mmm, I don’t think so. I won’t kill you,” they reminded. They tugged her against them so swiftly she didn’t feel it happen. Their lips pressed against her ear.
“No, love. I’m going to turn you into another me.”
She could feel their grin against her ear.
They vanished, taking her with them, before her friends could get there.
Six months later, she picked her friends off. One. By. One.
And the city burned.

Submitted Prompts #2
Because of how ectocontaminated Jazz and Danny are, there is a small chance that food around them will come back to life.
They may have forgotten to tell the Waynes this when they spent their first thanksgiving with the family.

Long Prompt #89
Hero’s armed were beginning to throb. It had been over half an hour since they’d snared themself in this back alley, wrists bound together and raised straight over their head, like some sort of trussed pig ready for the roast.
Usually they would have dodged it. Usually they wouldn’t have tripped it in the first place, but they’d been so… Desperate wasn’t the right word, maybe adamant? …so adamant about finding Villain that they had barely noticed the thing, it’s glinting wire body lurking in the shadows of the buildings.
They probably should have called for help by now…But the thought of being found like this was, well, more than a little humiliating.
“Hero?” a rich, velvety voice purred. “In one of my traps? Now I’ve seen everything.”
Villain sauntered into view grinning. They weren’t in their usual costume, instead sporting an tricolored sweater in blocks of brown, orange, and cream. They also had a large Tupperware tucked under one arm.
Well, it looked like Hero found them but not under the circumstances they wanted.
“Awww, you’re blushing!” Villain cooed.
“Shut up!”
“Aren’t you always bragging about your super intuition and lightning fast reflexes?”
“I said shut up!”
“And of all traps, a little snare meant to keep door to door salesman out of the lair. What are you even doing here?”
“I— Wait. What was that second to last part?”
“Oh, don’t worry, they learn fast. I actually haven’t snared one of those in months. Now, little egoistic heroes with pretty blue eyes on the other hand…” They grinned wider. “That’s the catch of the day.”
Hero squirmed a little in their bonds, wincing at the way the the pin and needles under their skin stung as they rubbed against the bindings. “Can you just let me down?”
“Reasons first.”
Hero glared but after a moment they finally relented. “I was…looking for you…”
“Aw, I’m flattered.” They circled Hero, sharp eyes studying the tight squeeze of their bindings. “But it’s a holiday. Probably not the best idea to assume I was at my workplace.”
“Er…that’s the thing. I was thinking… Since you don’t have anyone to spend Thanksgiving with, maybe you could come over to my place and—“
“Who said I have no one to spend Thanksgiving with?”
The rest of Hero’s sentence froze on their lips. They knew that they were staring too long, but they couldn’t seem to shut their mouth. Or blink.
“The other villains and I get together every year. Supervillain makes a mean pumpkin pie.”
“Oh,” Hero said finally. It was the most they could get out.
Villain suddenly narrowed their eyes, those daggerish pupils boring right through their skull.
“Hero, do you not have anyone to spend Thanksgiving with?”
“I… Of course I do! I was just… You know, there’s so many people coming over later that I better finish up my preparations. Gotta…clean the house, make the…er…stuffing. In fact I think I left my turkey in the oven! So, could you let me down now?”
Villain’s grin had all but disappeared. The ghost of it still weakly clinging to the curve of their mouth, a forced ugly thing that made Hero feel small.
“Please?” they added, a little harsher than they intended.
“Hero… Do you want to come to my Thanksgiving?”

Prompt: Thanksgiving from @roosmavprompts
Title: giving thanks
Author: Altered60
Rating: T
Tags: Alternate universe - canon divergence, friends to lovers, fluff, first kiss, not actually unrequited love, pining, Maverick's POV, there is a second Dagger team, Thanksgiving, everyone desires Maverick carnally
Word Count: 3664
Summary:
Maverick thought training up a new group of recruits would be easy - he'd done it before, plus the Daggers were there to assist. Even if Bradley was proving a distraction.
What he didn't expect was the fighting, the inflated egos and having to babysit a bunch of ten year old adults.
So with Thanksgiving around the corner, and the thought of spending it away from Bradley weighing on his shoulders, Maverick comes up with a plan.
Each pilot has to write an anonymous note explaining who they are thankful for, with the proviso they could go home if they played nice.
Cue - an *assortment of notes with a recurring theme and the chance to spend Thanksgiving with the person he loves best.

Prompt: "How would that even work?"
Warnings: Alcohol consumption, intoxication, flirting.
This Thanksgiving social was taking a turn for the worse.
Scratch that, perhaps just a turn for the unexpected?
The social itself was quite good.
The building attendants had gone all out. Cute little invitations, a cash bar and a dessert station. Dinner itself was potluck and surprisingly you and your neighbours had all come through on bringing your assigned items.
No, what was sending your evening of free food and averagely priced drinks round the bend and into uncharted territory was the company.
Specifically, Edge.
"HOW WOULD THAT EVEN WORK?" Edge, drained his glass and sat it down with a worrying clack.
Despite you having become friends with Red through many an afternoon spent chatting from your respective balconies, you and Edge had never really connected.
He was too fast pace and prickly and you were too uncertain about what to say or how to approach him.
So, imagine your surprise to find yourself sitting at the cash bar half snapped and waiting on the bottle of wine you had agreed to splitting with him.
"They debone the duck and the chicken." You finished you own drink and then dutifully picked up your glass of water.
It was a good practice and would help you avoid a regretful morning.
Edge visibly grimaced at the word 'debone'.
"RIDICULOUS." he scoffed looking into his empty glass.
"Yeah, but so are Mettaton shaped steaks. Oh good, the wine's here!" You felt the heat rise in your cheeks.
You had not meant to say the last part out loud...perhaps a second glass of water was in order.
Edge made a sound you were pretty sure constituted as a laugh before refilling his glass and then your own.
" THE CLASS OF A METTATON STEAK IS PARAMOUNT. NO DINNER OUT CAN COMPARE... UNLESS THAT DINNER IS LASAGNA AND PREPARED BY MY GREAT AND TERRIBLE SELF." You snorted in a most dignified way to avoid spitting wine.
The way this guy preened, and that smile that somehow made you feel both self-confident and in danger?
It should be more annoying or at least more troubling.
Yet...you were having fun.
You were having fun and...dare you say, he was too?
"WELL, OF COURSE YOU ARE HAVING FUN! AFTER ENDURING ALL THOSE IRRELEVANT EXCUSES FOR CONVERSATION WITH MY BROTHER, IT IS ONLY NATURAL THAT MY UNRIVALED DISCOURSE WOULD BE SUCH A WELCOME RELIEF TO YOUR SOCIAL PALLET!"
"Oh dear." You said the heat rising to your face once more.
You really needed to stop saying these things out loud.
Edge leaned over to top up your already generously filled glass.
"ON THE CONTRARY, HUMAN. I THINK I QUITE LIKE IT WHEN YOU DO." Edge's dangerous smile had become deadly.
This social had, no doubt, taken a turn but you were pretty confident that it had done so in a most great and terrible way.

Hypothetical for you all: All human beings spontaneously get superpowers based on the proximity of their birthday to the nearest notable holiday in their country of origin, the closer they are to the actual day, the stronger their powers are!
What holiday do you get abilities from, what powers do you think you'd get, and what do you do with these abilities? How do you think the sudden mass introduction of superpowers would affect society?
Tl;dr: All humanity get superpowers based on the closest holiday to their birthday, the closer they were born to that day, the stronger those powers become. What powers do you get and from what holiday, and what do you do with them? How do you think this new mass-empowerment would affect society?

Imagine…
Another holiday season is upon us but first a little thank you #gratitude #thankful #Thanksgiving #writingprompt
In the USA, we are officially in “the holiday season.”. No need to mention which one because the ‘the’ takes care of the definition. Our official kick-off starts with turkey day and apexes with the jolly old man in red and concludes with a whole new year to start all over again. Before all that though, we set apart a day to give thanks for, well, all that and everything leading up to all that. I…
