since it’s basically confirmed we’re getting the Whispering Skull in the first season, I realised we could get lines like these in the show:
‘Plan F, we follow Plan F, right now.’
‘Is that the one where we run away?’
‘Not at all. It's the one where we beat a dignified emergency retreat.’ absolute banger
‘Blimey. Are those shorts you’re wearing, Lockwood, or are you trying to take flight?’ another banger
‘Well, I make that one murder victim, one police interrogation, and one conversation with a ghost.’ George said. ‘Now, that’s what I call a busy evening.’
Lockwood nodded. ‘To think some people just watch television.’ iconic
‘Well,' Lockwood said, "if you judge success by the number of enemies you make, that was a highly successful evening.’ legendary
Several folks asked so here is a brief explanation. I fused larger strips (think 2.5”wide) to Steam-a-Seam2, then organically cut those into 1/4-1/2” width by 3” pieces. I organized by color family. I used a Goddess Pr asking appliqué sheet to see the fish shape underneath it. I peeled the paper backing off each strip as I built my fish on the sheet. Once I was happy with the placement I fused all the pieces together. I let the fish cool then carefully peeled it off the sheet. I built all 6 fish this way. I then placed each fish on the pieced background I made and once happy with the placement fused it to the background. This pile of fabric strips (1/4-1/2” x 3”) turned into these
Which turned into this
I’m having it custom quilted. It’s going to be in a silent auction at a meeting my daughter is planning. Hope it will bring in a lot of $$
The Hermitcraft Charity Auction includes this painting created by yours truly! It’s painted in real paint on real canvas, and the gold foil was applied by hand! It’s framed! It’s live on the website! <- link!!
I had the pleasure of working with Grian to create a real-life version of the iconic mending book painting “9000 Fish” by @ink-ghoul for the Gamer’s Outreach auction. There are also versions of the painting by @belmarzi and @sevenchiart on the site to check out!!
I’m so delighted to get to be a part of fundraiser for such a good cause. The auction runs til Sunday so go check it out! 😄✨
Looks like Chesley Bonestell's famous "Saturn as Seen from Titan" artwork is going on sale soon, from the late Microsoft co-founder Paul G. Allen's estate. It could be yours, assuming you have a spare $50K!
Volkswagen Type 2 Splitscreen Articulated Camper, 1963 (2023). A restomod VW created from two Type 2 models is for sale in the UK. The front "truck" is powered by an Audi S3 5-cylinder turbocharged engine. The rear camper section has a double bed and a period Westfalia-style elevating roof and roof rack. Bidding is currently at £23,500 but the reserve has not been met, the auction has 3 plus days to run.
Latest quilt: GAIA & her subroutines, from Horizon Zero Dawn/Horizon Forbidden West. A combination of paper piecing (the subfunctions) and traditional piecing (the rest of the quilt), with a little embroidery (the label on the back) thrown in.
I made this one for the Desert Bus for Hope 2024 craftalong! So excited to be able to participate this year.
Do you just do a ton of, like, scouring buy/sell groups, online marketplaces (ebay? craigslist? FB marketplace?), and online or in-person antique shops?
I'm in the process of buying a house and know I have, like, no furnishings for when/if I manage to pull that off. I really love the idea of reusing older furniture (both for sustainability reasons and because anything "new" in my budget would be, like, prefab stuff that's usually more on the minimalism-side aesthetic-wise), but outside of what's listed above, I'm not even sure to how to start! (Also totally fine if you prefer to keep how you find stuff secret, thanks for reading either way. :) )
Yeah it's like 90% just Facebook marketplace. I have luck at thrift stores for decor items but not furniture, and antique stores are mostly not in the budget. Just start trawling Facebook!
And let people know that you're moving and are looking for furniture. They might not have your style, but if it's free it'll give you something to use while you look for the right thing.
Edit: it's also worth investing in moving gear. Ratchet straps, work gloves, furniture sliders, dollies, scooters, moving blankets, a shoulder dolly, etc. If you're disassembling furniture, always bring a zip lock bag to put screws and stuff in so you don't lose them.
Oh yard sales! Also good. They just don't happen in the winter where I am.
