So it was already pointed out many times that in the city on the edge of forever episode Spock and Jim have only one bed in their room.

I watched the "cloud minders" (s.3 ep.21) last night and these two were given rooms to rest. 3 minutes later we see Jim peacefully sleeping on double bed (the only one in the room), and the camera is slowly turning, and then there is, of course, Spock, sitting in an armchair, turned directly to Jim.

“We should get a cat.”

Idia fumbled with his new computer mouse, his head jerking up at the sound of your voice. His eyes were wide as he opened and closed his mouth, his brow knitting in confusion.

“A kitty?” he mumbled, eyes flickering towards the ground, “Do you think we should bring one here?”

You looked around at the Styx headquarters and sighed. Of course he’d be worried about that, but you couldn’t stand him being so miserable here. He deserved just a bit of happiness, even if his family was cursed and his brother was gone and he couldn’t even hang out with his friends anymore.

“If you don’t want one that’s okay, hon.” you brushed his hair away from his face, not missing the small plume of smoke that rose from his head at the touch, “You deserve nice things. I know your life is hard but that doesn’t mean you need to make it harder on yourself.”

“Can we really get a wittle kitty?” he at least looked a little bit excited, his sharp teeth gnawing at his bottom lip, “Do you think I’d be a good cat dad?”

You almost laughed at his soft voice, but didn’t. It was hard to believe such a smart, arrogant, powerful man could become putty in your hands. You gently grasped the hand that wore the wedding band that matched yours and brought it to your lips.

“I told you when we married each other that I’d always be by your side and believe in you.” you murmured, lips brushing against his skin, “You’d be a lovely cat dad.”

“But…do you really think this place would be okay…?” he flushed, “I mean, I could put in some features to keep the kitty safe and entertained, but I wouldn’t want….I don’t want…if the cat was lonely or upset…I didn’t even want to drag you into this misery with me, but-”

“I chose to become a Shroud, honey. I chose that because I love you.” you reiterated, eyes boring into his soul, “I want you to be happy. Please don’t punish yourself because you feel bad, even if you think you deserve what you put yourself through.”

“Um…thank you. I love you.” he flushed, avoiding eye contact, “I’d like that. Um, getting a kitty.”

“I love you too, honey.” you smiled lovingly, rubbing your thumb over his wedding band.

“Of course, of course. You’re always right.” he muttered, cheeks turning even redder.

“Yes I am.” you chuckled, kissing his cheek.
