#twitter downfall

I am staring very suspiciously at this new Twitter replacement from Instagram. On the one hand, I fucking hate Facebook and Instagram. But on the other hand, the fact that Threads is part of a much larger platform means it probably has a lot more viability than the other attempts we’ve seen. Specifically, plenty of government/official agencies use Facebook and Instagram just as much as they used Twitter, which means this could be our first real shot at rebuilding the vital emergency communications network that had been on Twitter and is now nearly impossible to access or use effectively.
Time shall tell. Either way, I’m on there as @Katy_L_Wood. No idea how much I’ll use it, but feel free to give me a follow.

The funniest part about what I’ve done to my blog today is that it took me less than five minutes to do using nothing more than my phone and a Unicode copy/paste website. And that, above all else, should tell you just how creatively bankrupt Musk, Twitter, and the rest of Silicon Valley are.

In the end, you gotta recognize Elon's efforts to improve the fight against disinformation. He bought a 2b$ platform for 44b$ and then he has done everything he can to absolutely kill it dead so people find something else to do with their time (???)

It's amazing to see how companies are self-destructing in real time.
Netflix's demise isn't fully certain, but the fact is, the more they piss people off the more people are gonna be pushed to piracy or their competition. And the recent "if you're a college student - fuck you" development is certainly not helping. Netflix's catalogue isn't extensive enough to make up for all that. If you're a horror fan, you already know, but in general it just lacks classics and actually long shows that keep people invested.
Netflix may have a chance at saving itself, but all the decisions I've seen so far have signified a protracted, agonizing tumble downwards.
Twitter... well Twitter is not tumbling downwards, it is on fire, screaming and begging for someone to make it stop. The recent announcement means that most, if not all useful bots will be demolished. Meanwhile Elon Musk has privated his account because he's trying to figure out how his own algorithm works. Honestly, someone should've told him that buying Nestle would've been an epic reddit move.
In the end, if you're a simple netizen, enjoy the show and learn how to pirate. If you're a content creator or an artist, keep multiple SM accounts.

If you post screenshots from Threads, you’re getting blocked. I don’t give a shit what it’s about or how important it is. Blocked. On sight. Immediately.

I don't think I like Threads.
I haven't seen anyone talk bout Threads over here yet to make fun of it so I'm going to give a review nobody asked for, as somebody whose only social media is Instagram and Tumblr (although I am still a Tumblr newbie)
Pros:
It looks like a twitter from before the Muskrat infestation (to my eyes). I may not have been on twitter, but I have spent my whole social media life seeing twitter screenshots, and yeah. This app looks like it
Hello people on Instagram I already follow, it's nice to not have to manually search for you! I actually really like this feature. I can enjoy content from the ppl I already follow*
Lots of memes about twitter downfall. I like this. It amuses me.
Cons:
Why are there random brand accounts on my feed? I don't like the random brand accounts on my feed. I go back to Tumblr where I can see the ppl I actually follow. * - Until I refresh and I get the random brand accounts again.
Doomscrolling. You can't seem to make pages like on Tumblr, which makes it hard to stop your doomscrolling
Autorefresh. Yeah no. Please no I was trying to read that-
No funky app logo colours. It's not pink like Instagram, green like WhatsApp, random colours at random times like Tumblr or blue like Facebook/twitter. It's black. Boring :(
Overall thoughts & opinions:
6/10. It seems ok. Just. Please fix the random brand accounts trying to be funny on my page. That's all I ask.
