seriously though I was probably like. 60-80% thinking we'd get at least one tweel for chapter 10. but I was NOT expecting it so soon! both of 'em! in August! a shame we're not getting a Coral Sea event after all...but I guess I can be resigned to that and ALSO excited for getting shiny sparkly glowing(!!!!) mertwins along with Azul fighting his inner demons and going right for the eyes! AHHHH I CAN'T WAIT
Floyd drops a terrifying lore bomb on us in the recent chapter, eluding to the old fan theory that the twins are perhaps the last surviving children from a larger clutch of identical siblings.
While eying his dummy copy, Floyd states “this isn’t anything new,” because he already was surrounded by a bunch of “guys” who looked just like him.
Ortho assumes he’s referring to Jade, but when Floyd says he and Jade “don’t look the same at all,” Idia quickly shuts the conversation down, saying it seems like Floyd’s about to delve in a scary story they shouldn’t sink any deeper into.
If you recall from Jade’s Halloween SSR vignette, he states he once held a long conversation with someone he believed to be Floyd, only to discover he was talking to a ghost. Further, in Floyd’s dorm SSR vignette, Jade says he’s glad he “chose” Floyd to be his partner for life. You could perhaps even theorize that the ghost who possessed Jade was once a Floyd-like individual in its lifetime.
I’m not saying it’s canon that Jade ate the rest of their siblings… but, you know. When you eat too much of a good thing, you just might grow to dislike it.
No matter what people say about Trey, Ace is The Most Normal Character. He plays basketball. He's good at card tricks. He likes eating hamburgers. He's used to getting a lot of attention because he's a youngest child. He teases everyone constantly but sometimes he can be nice. He's 5'8". He had a girlfriend in middle school and the relationship failed immediately. He could transfer to my school and I wouldn't blink an eye.
making myself depressed by thinking that newer generation of briar valley doesnt recognize her (her castle is destroyed so almost all of her records was lost, shes implied to be remembered as a fairytale (based on lilias line about his wish for malleus when he didnt hatch yet)) and only long lived faes like Lilia sincerely remembers her (like shes not just a historical figure/icon but a person/princess who lived and was beloved by the faes yk 😭💔)
i really like how canonically yuu is genuinely supportive of grim wanting to be a great mage. if i recall correctly, even character voice lines point this out. and it seems like yuu dotes on grim a lot and defends him too??? yuu even encourages grim's ambitions whenever he declares wanting to be a great mage. and also when he does that boss-henchhuman dynamic. i mean yeah you can interpret it as yuu saying that being condescending and sarcastic as if they're talking to a child saying "when i grow up i want to be famous!" but like. i really think they're genuine when mc loves grim in their own way.
even if grim is usually a menace, he's become like family to yuu.
and i'm pretty sure grim feels the same way.
think about it this way. despite all the mess, all the unpredictability, the danger, and all the drama being in nrc. what's always the constant? yuu goes home at the end of the day to the ramshackle dorm (basically their home at this point considering they slowly but surely fix it up over time) and with who? “the great mage” grim. as the sole outcasts in that academy, they both sleep soundly knowing they will always have each other at the end of the day.
yalll i saw a tweet about how some of guys don't know that epel is meant to be sámi, not a southern american??? babes... he's very sámi. just as the original tweet said, not everything his "gringo-centric"
i suggest really looking into the sámi people and the oppression they face by their governments!! the 1960s saw a wave of forced assimilation in norway. culture and language is constantly under threat, with children having not been allowed to speak their native languages in educational settings. this oppression goes all the way back to the 15th/16th century, and it is not unique to norway. there have been campaigns to eradicate their customs, language and religious practices for centuries.
like, y'all, there's heavy inspiration, especially in the collars!! these intricate designs and the jewelry... my goodness this is so pretty???
correct me if im wrong, but the term gákti is used to describe these garments. there have been controversies over finnish people dressing up in fake gákti and performing "traditional rituals" for tourists. this is extremely similar to various other cultures. the act of exoticizing and orientalizing the sámi people and their culture serves no purpose but to fill the pockets of non-sámi capitalists who oppress them.
on that note, when writing epel fics please stop with the southern american shenanigans, especially when the culture he is implied to be from has actively been eradicated for centuries.
Idk if its pretty obvious but, I was looking Jade's outdoor wear and I noticed up- the eel doesn't match eye colours with Jade, but it does with Floyd, so I saw Floyd outdoor Plushie and I see the same
Maybe the Keychain/Plushie is the other brother? Oh my they're so cutee 🥹
