Meditating with ADHD advice
Keeping your mind "blank" is unrealistic and stressful. Forget it, throw it out the window, that line is not for us.
What you're really trying to do is keep your working memory empty. Thoughts will wonder in, thoughts will wonder out, no worries. The song you have playing in the background of your brain, totally fine, just keep it in the background, keep all that in the background.
You're taking those 700 balls that you jungle all day desperately trying to keep in the front of your mind, lest you forget them and drop them, and telling them to fuck off for a while. 3 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes. Doesn't matter. just give yourself a mental nap where you're not fighting to hold on to the things in your working memory space.

Only vote if you’ve taken an official, in person test (dodgy online ones don’t count).
If you’ve had a neuropsychological evaluation (most people who have been diagnosed with or assessed for neurodevelopmental disorders such as intellectual disability, adhd, autism, and learning disabilities) you’ve probably had your IQ tested

Everytime I learn more about my ADHD I go through such a wave of emotions.
Recently learned much more about the dopamine deficiency piece of it. Just now learning that so many of us do not remember much of our childhoods due to poor working memory. Also just learned that it's more likely than not if you have ADHD you probably also have a sleep disorder.
Idk I just feel betrayed every time I learn something that feels really important to understand. Like I wish my parents would have done more to teach me about how my brain works or maybe my doctor, I don't know.
I end up feeling empowered by the information eventually, but it somehow always stings at first.

“I heard about this app called Finch for self-care and I have downloaded it, but I haven’t had a chance to check it out yet. It’s been…very busy around here, as usual.”
“Anyway, I hope that it helps me stay on top of things because my working memory seems to be on a downhill slide lately. I played a 10 second memory recall game with my sisters and it was…very embarrassing.”
“I’ve been falling behind on my nature walks. I need to start making those a priority because they’re essential for my well-being. I miss them so much.”

Today's medical paranoia game: is it early onset Alzheimers disease or just my adhd?
Hint: working memory and decision making is equally impacted in patients with adhd and patients with mildly progressed dementia.
Answer: it's my adhd and I need to partake in more frequent physical activity.
Anxiety's answer: you have Alzheimers you're going to wet yourself you'll get lost driving home you'll forget your own name you'll die you'll die you'll die this is not actually true but countering these thoughts are proving difficult

I wonder if ADHD exists because your brain takes the tasks in the working memory part in the brain and throws them out early. I mean that's why working memory exists, right? So every short-term task in your life doesn't stick around? You don't want to be eighty and think back on how many times you had to find your keys. So logically, ADHD would be a defect in that system.

nothing is worse than when your teacher says they will support your adhd, and points out that your working memory is affected by your adhd, and then you walk into class the next day and she starts teaching about how the working memory model is kinda very important.
._.
like, excuse me miss, i have already sat through many a class where the topic we we're learning is negatively affected by adhd, and now tou want to tell me im basically fucked for memory???

The Neuroanatomy of ADHD (recommend to watch on 1.25 speed)
Part of Dr Russel Barkley's talk about the neuroanatomy of ADHD, touching on topics of Working Memory, Motivation, Timing, and Emotional regulation. The full talk is also available on YouTube if you want to listen to it all.
I found his work very useful in understanding more about how ADHD can affect the 'expected' working functions of the brain. By being able to pin down more specifically the ways in which my brain differs from the typical, I feel better equipped to find and develop accommodations that actually work to combat them and also to accept and understand more about myself.

The worst thing about ADHD working memory issues is that you don't remember forgetting things.
I just have zero awareness at all until its too late.
It's just nothing... nothing... nothing...

Why some people are scared of maths?
You know friend 's the reason is not that you are bad at mathematics that why you can't solve the problems. In fact there is a fair chance that you are good at it! I know that was my face to even I am bad at mathematics and someone said there is a fair chance you are good at it I fainted. But do you know the reason why you are not able to do mathematics. Is because our brains have something called Working Memory which functions to solve problems. When we do mathematics a lot of space of it is used but when we have math anxiety a significant space of that is taken up, like worrying about mistakes. This leaves less room for focusing to solve the math problems making it harder to perform well. But the exact reason if not known but the primary causes of math anxiety is attributed to past negative experiences such as having a strict mathematics teacher who often speak negatively about your mathematical review. But the good thing is my friends now that we know math anxiety is related to our brain we can control our mindset towards mathematics. Besides writing down your anxious thoughts before a test can help in free up space in "working memory". Make sure that before you attend a test take a walk to ease up the tension or anxiety and relax your muscles. Thank you

"Time blindness" is just part of the ADHD package - it's a byproduct of wonky working memory. The good news is, there are lots of skills and strategies to manage it.
