Saying "I love you" without saying "I love you" — some ways your otp can silently express affection
Forehead kisses, and smiling through the kiss
Resting their forehead on the other’s after a kiss
Tucking strands of loose hair behind their ears, with a thumb caressing their cheek
Interlacing their fingers with the other’s when they least expect it
Sleepy back hugs when the other person is busy whipping up breakfast in the kitchen, catching them by surprise
Just doing their own things in the same space; being so comfortable around the other even in their pyjamas
Holding both their hands while holding their gaze gently, just before leaning in for a kiss
Switching positions with the other when walking down a busy sidewalk because your feel the need to keep the other safe
Being playfully clingy in the mornings when one has an off day and the other has to rush to work
Getting them something from the store when they only mentioned it in passing
When one is overseas for a work trip and everything they see reminds them of the other person (bonus: whenever it happens, they take a picture and drop the other person a text.)
Squeezing their hand reassuringly and holding their hand throughout an intense social situation (eg. a large school reunion which the more introverted person is dreading)
Kissing away their tears
^ and letting the other cry on their shoulder even when their t-shirt gets soaked from their tears
Meeting them where they are, mentally and emotionally; never forcing them to do anything they aren’t comfortable with
Wholeheartedly supporting their dreams, and putting that into action by making concrete plans for it to happen
Dropping the other person an encouraging text before an important interview/event
Surprising the other with flowers just because; no occasion and no reason needed
Picking the other person up from work when it’s getting late, and walking them right to their doorstep after
Good morning and goodnight texts
Making the other person a Spotify playlist with songs that remind them of their relationship and growth
Remembering the littlest of things — activities they like and dislike, favourite brands of stationery, go-to ice cream flavour, choice of popcorn
Writing little notes on post-its and leaving them in random pages of their textbook, so that they will get a little endorphin boost when studying

Everyone who was/is dedicated to tagging Goncharov as "unreality" pls do the same with AI images.
Untagged fake photos are permeating the art, interior design, and now writing prompt areas of tumblr. It gives me uncanny valley ick, so there's probably others who it stresses out more.
Please tag your auto-generated images!

Do you read fanfiction? Are you queer? Well then I’ve got the perfect survey for you!
Hi! I’m a student writing a research paper on the prevalence of queer couples and lgbtq+ representation in fanfiction and need participants for my survey. This project will be entered in a national (Very prestigious) research competition and will be judged by an academic jury. The more answers I get on this survey, the more accurate my research will be, so I'd really appreciate it if you would take the time to answer!
https://forms.gle/8sae8vzQRERAzYiX8
Update: The survey is currently being redone! You can find the reasoning behind this (and other FAQ) here [https://at.tumblr.com/mariathechosen1/queer-participation-and-representation-in/i689fhq3b2vn] and the new survey here: https://forms.gle/Tcoafs9dU627PNcn8
Here are some reasons to partcicipate:
Science and stuff
Force a highly prestigious academic jury to read more than 20 pages about gay fanfiction
Better my chances of winning real-life money by writing more than 20 pages about gay fanfiction
Help expand a largely ignored academic field (fandom studies)
It’ll only take like 8 minutes (5 minutes if you’re quick)
Uhhmmm…
Please?
The only requirement is that you have some sort of experience with fanfiction or fan works (Whether that be writing or reading). You do not have to be queer to participate and all answers are completely anonymous
Reblogs are appreciated!

Thinking a little bit about that one "I'm an English major and a professional as opposed to you amateurs" anon. Gonna roast 'em a little bit, but with the intention of addressing a thing we've had in mind for a while.
Real talk, coming from someone who WAS an English major; majoring in English is not necessarily a guarantee that someone is a good writer. For one, you can be bad at your major, full stop. For another, it's not even a guarantee that someone identifies as a writer to begin with. English as a major is pretty broad, and it covers reading too, among other things. There's library science, analytical academia, historical preservation & interpretation (MEDIEVAL MANUSCRIPTS HELL YES), editing, nonfiction trades (often crosses over with STEM majors), marketing (crosses over with business majors), and also book design and typography (<3 <3 <3 our favorite, crosses over with art majors).
Someone can major in English and take a specific minor with the goal of falling into a trade that is not writing literary fiction. In fact, we would argue that most people who get something useful out of their major are the ones that do that.
It's also worth noting that it's possible to be an English major focused on "lowbrow" fiction. There are people who major in English and use the experience towards the end of writing erotica. There are people who major in English with the intent to write genre fiction. There are people who major in English to study the history and social context of fanfiction.
These things are, in fact, worthy fields of study! The realm of the "amateur" is the realm where a lot of cultural conversations and innovations happen!
Expecting English as a major to be a tract specifically for producing acclaimed literary fictionists is not realistic, not how the discipline typically works, and it's certainly not a thing you can use to hold over other writers' heads. It is perfectly possible for people to write good things (professional-grade things even) without ever touching a college course.
I sat through so much bad writing in college. Technically bad, thematically bad, gramatically bad. And I routinely bump into non-graduate authors who write texts, formal and informal alike, that blow my own writing clean out of the water with their quality.
In short, dismissing other people in your general field as "amateurs" who are beneath you is an incredibly unprofessional thing to do.

Writers of Tumblr, I have an ask game for you all!
Please reblog and answer these questions, maybe tag others too! My asks are also open for them.
By the way, please support me as an artist by reblogging my The Forgotten Legends of Chima content.
What is the main lesson of your story (e.g. kindness, diversity, anti-war), and why did you choose it?
What did you use as inspiration for your worldbuilding (like real-life cultures, animals, famous media, websites, etc.)?
What is your MC trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? Do you want to inspire others, teach forgiveness, help readers grow as a person?
How many chapters is your story going to have?
Is it fanfiction or original content? Where do you plan to post it?
When and why did you start writing?
Do you have any words of engagement for fellow writers of Writeblr? What other writers of Tumblr do you follow?

Eat the Rich: Kickstarter
Tumblr media
Do you love stories about rich assholes getting their comeuppance? Do you want to see capitalism compete head-to-head with carnivores, cannibals, kaiju, and other things that go chomp in the night?
Then you gotta come back this Kickstarter.
This anthology is being curated by Eirik Gumeny, and the funds raised go toward paying authors and submission readers. Once it's funded, this will open up to submissions, so keep an eye on that, too.
Yours truly is going to be one of the featured authors if this comes to fruition, so I have a thoroughly vested interest in seeing it succeed. I've got my story planned already. Hint: there are dragons.
Here's the link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/egumeny/eat-the-rich-stories-of-carnivorous-anti-capitalism?ref=user_menu
Tell your friends. Share this around. Throw a few bucks at it and get some sweet rewards. We need to make this happen.

Looking for New Writeblrs!
With the recent twitter exodus and bot spam flooding my notes, I want to find new people who are actually people. I know y'all are there lurking, so take this as an opportunity to introduce yourself and turn this into a follow train! I'll go first...
You can call me Etta or Etta Grace, and I write fantasy of all kinds. Most of my stories resolve around family dynamics, and I run a website where I post weekly book reviews, writing advice, excerpts, and goals. I've been involved on writeblr since Summer 2019 and so I know a fair number of folks here, but I'm always happy to meet new people and learn about your WIPs! If you're not sure how to get involved in the community, my DMs and asks are always open!
I can recommend checking out these blogs too!
@abalonetea @ashen-crest @writeblrfantasy @siarven @kittensartswriting @woodhousejay @sleepyowlwrites @avrablake @lady-redshield-writes @pens-swords-stuff @violetcancerian @writingamongther0ses @magic-is-something-we-create

Do you read fanfiction? Are you queer? Well then I’ve got the perfect survey for you!
Hi! I’m a student writing a research paper on the prevalence of queer couples and lgbtq+ representation in fanfiction and need participants for my survey. This project will be entered in a national Norwegian research competition and will be judged by an academic jury. The more answers I get on this survey, the more accurate my research will be, so I'd really appreciate it if you would take the time to answer!
https://forms.gle/Tcoafs9dU627PNcn8
The survey is now closed! Thank you to everyone who participated!
Now, some of you might be thinking “Hey, I’ve seen this survey before.” And you’d be correct. I have a full explanation as to why here [https://at.tumblr.com/mariathechosen1/queer-participation-and-representation-in/i689fhq3b2vn], but the short explanation is that the original survey was meant for a much smaller sample size and after getting 8000 (!!!) answers on the past survey we decided we had to redo it in proper compliance with the GDPR. If you have any questions about this decision, or about the past survey, please read the FAQ post before contacting me or the project supervisor.
In contrary to the former survey, this research is specifically aimed at queer individuals who read and/or write fanfiction. Both people who answered and didn’t answer the last survey may answer this one.
Here are some reasons to participate:
Science and stuff
Force a highly prestigious academic jury to read more than 20 pages about gay fanfiction
Better my chances of winning real-life money by writing more than 20 pages about gay fanfiction
Help expand a largely ignored academic field (fandom studies)
It’ll only take like 8 minutes (5 minutes if you’re quick)
