It’s been a while since I wrote about my grief.

I haven’t touched the subject since just before my mum’s anniversary in November.

Time has changed my grief and my guilt, and I don’t want to hold it all in anymore.

Old selfies, new video

Had the week from hell trying to get this edited and then spent all day fucking around with colour correction only to realise my first export was the ‘best’ one (least shit) 😩

I also had my first driving lesson today after 2 weeks because my instructor has been getting her car repaired and the break has really thrown my confidence 😩

To top it all off my face is at war with itself and I have been putting off having salad for dinner all week so that’s me in for a fun evening 😩

It could be worse I guess. At least I’m free from editing this video 😂

I'm doing it!!! I'm learning to drive!!!

I finally started learning to drive after putting it off for ~13 years! I have had a lot of hesitation around learning, especially as an autistic adult with ADHD. Here's an update on my experience so far!

As an autistic person with ADHD learning to drive seemed daunting! I am not good at coordinating my body and the idea of having my life (or anyone else’s) depend on my ability to pay attention didn’t seem like a good idea 😂

What I can tell you now is that it is daunting (as it should be tbh when else are you in charge of something so lethal). As an overthinker I am constantly second guessing things, but as time has gone on I have gotten more used to it. Every lesson something gets a little less scarier and there are gradually lengthening bursts of time where I’m like ‘I know what I’m doing here’ and I’m starting to find my rhythm (something I never thought I’d say). And with more experience I think it can only get easier (unless I overthink it because that certainly makes it harder 😂)

This is probably the scariest and most exciting thing I have ever done and I am thoroughly enjoying every minute of it!

Building skulls & building skills 💀

This is an incredibly simple drawing but I’m still stupidly proud of it (even if it took me AGES)

I’ve always wanted to be able to draw a skull and always failed miserably and this is the first time I’ve tried to draw a skull and it hasn’t turned out terribly!

I took a different approach to usual and focused on shapes, so I started with the 2D shape of the skull as a whole.

I tried to think about shape and proportions as I went. It kind of felt like painting because I was trying to not think of everything as an edge and not draw every line I saw (like all the cracks and other details) but instead focus on the shapes (which is at least somewhat in line with what I’m supposed to be learning right now even if the subject might be a bit tricky)

It isn’t perfect but it’s a hell of a lot better than any of my previous attempts so I’m calling it a win! 💀
