Nichelle Nichols has passed away. 

Martin Luther King once convinced her to continue on as Uhura when she was about to quit. He told her how she was a role model for so many people and had to stay on. He rightfully recognized her as a trailblazer and the inspiration she continued to be.

Meet the Family

Ehhhh I don't know how I feel about this one. I didn't really know what to write. Hopefully it's still somewhat enjoyable! Here's Day 7 of @marigami-week: Meet the Family.

Marinette's trip to Japan had been wonderful. More wonderful, of course, was the amount of time she was able to spend with her girlfriend while there. She played the role of the overeager tourist and Kagami the exhausted but nonetheless amused local. Soon, however, their trip came to an end. Marinette knew her girlfriend had only one more activity planned for the two of them.

"I'd like to introduce you to my father today," Kagami told her as the Tsurugi car drove them through the streets of Minato City in Tokyo.

Marinette blinked, unsure of what she'd expected her girlfriend to say but knowing that hadn't been it. "O-Okay?" She hadn't been aware Kagami's father was still around. Of course, she'd also never asked. Being friends with Adrien meant families could be touchy subjects, so she'd simply never brought up the topic. In France, just Kagami and her mother lived together, and all the times Marinette had gone over to their home none of their family pictures included -

"We're here."

Marinette blinked as the car slowed to a stop. "Wait - already?"

"Yes. It is only a short ride from the hotel. But you seemed lost in thought, and I did not wish to disturb you."

Marinette accepted Kagami's hand as she climbed out the car, opening her mouth to respond but finding that her voice stalled in her throat as she read the sign of where they were.

Aoyama Cemetery.

"My father passed away when I was five," Kagami said, staring not at her girlfriend but rather at the blooming garden that surrounded the white gate of the cemetery in front of them. "My mother tells me he was an artist. But I've never seen any of his completed paintings - only sketches."

Marinette said nothing, instead giving Kagami's hand a gentle squeeze.

Kagami then glanced at Marinette. "I get the impression from my mother that you remind her of him. Your passion for design parallels my father's love of painting." She hesitated, chewing on her bottom lip. "Are you... Do you mind that I brought you here?"

Marinette turned to face Kagami, taking both of her girlfriend's hands in her own. She closed her eyes, leaning forward to touch their foreheads together, a soft smile dancing its way onto her lips. "No. I couldn't be more honored."
