❝  my heart is just like the ocean, has storm and calm and tides.  ❞ — Seytawni @dollhidden to Martha!
Tumblr media
Martha pays close attention, a great listener at heart, as the woman speaks words so similar to those she would hear back at home. It made her sort of nostalgic, pointing her thoughts into something in particular. Maybe, their worlds weren't all that different, after all.
"You know, where I come from, people like you exist." She starts, turning from looking towards that beautiful, unknown sky, to looking at the giant by her side. "People who's hearts are dominated by elements – like the waters of the ocean."
A pause comes as she thinks about it a little more. She had heard a legend once or twice... about the Lord of the Seas, that untamed serpent. Her heart jumps a bit at the possibility that maybe this person beside her could be connected to it.
"I wonder, if you were from Valisthea like me, maybe you would've been born the Dominant of Leviathan – the Warden of Water." Another pause comes and she is back to looking away, sighing to herself. "I wonder if the Warden was waiting for you – or someone like you – and that is why they never appeared. Leviathan the Lost, so they say."

The Fae Keeper, sequel to The Witch King by H. E. Edgmon
Context: The trans guy protagonist is being offered magic transition by an antagonist he's been chasing. She's stalling for time.
Italics are from the book, bold is mine for emphasis.
Page 24
I refuse to bend to the cis logic that my body is wrong, that I am a boy's soul stuck in a girl's bones, that the only appropriate way to be trans is to hate myself. I dont want to be cis. I don't want the magical penis Clarke is offering me, and I wouldn't go back and give up the experiences transness has given me either.
Seriously. Me, a cis man? No thank you.
And yet...there is a part of me that wants to buy what she's selling, and I hate myself for it.
1. Relatable oof ouch ow that dichotomy
2. "I dont hate myself because Im trans! I hate myself for other reasons! My self hate has nothing to do with you! I hate myself for all my own reasons!!! Nyeehhhhhh"
This is so fucking funny.
(This is not lack of reading comprehension. Its deliberate character work. Its good writing. Its also hilarious. Dude is making progress. He has very far to go).

Secret: May 11 Prompt from @calaisreno
Martha Hudson has a secret.
Well, she is a keeper of many secrets – those of others, as well as her own. She’s logged quite a number of years on the planet, after all, lived amongst “colorful” people, and experienced an event-filled life. It would be rather odd if she had no secrets.
This secret is neither earth-shaking nor weighty; it is a secret because she would quite prefer that others not think her to be a maudlin old lady, a somewhat pitiful headcase, as she fears they might if they knew.
The secret occurs on the 20th of each month: the 20ths are the only time when she goes upstairs to 221B, to spend some time in a solitary visit. The flat is empty, John not coming home in the days after the Fall, and then moving in with his sister after the funeral. She's not clear whether or not he is still there; all she knows is that this is where he is not. He had been reluctant to drop by, and it would be several months before she saw him again. Nearly all of Sherlock’s possessions are still in place as they were the last time he was present (minus the Stradivarius that Lord Stick Your Umbrella Up Your Arse had seized near the end of November). In the flat, it is as if Sherlock’s life is suspended in time; no one seems concerned with boxing up his things (perhaps it is because his disappearance from their lives was so unexpected and abrupt; perhaps it is just that the idea needs time to settle amongst those he left behind). The rent money is still being deposited in her account each month, which she supposes is Mycroft's doing. Perhaps the flat represents, at least in part, all of them being somewhat suspended in time.
Her visits had begun in December; at the cemetary she hadn't felt Sherlock to be near at all when she went to lay flowers at his headstone. The flat, on the other hand, feels comforting to visit, and when she's there she does feel touched by his presence.
December That first post-Fall 20th had arrived in December, on a day and an evening in which lackluster swirls of snow were dispersed erratically by the cold breezes. On a whim, she had brought up a small Christmas tree from below and set it on the table. She hadn’t been able to decide if it made the room feel more lonely, or less so; she liked it nonetheless. She had pulled a few votive candles from her apron pocket and set them on the table, and rummaged about in the kitchen until she found a box of matches (from Angelo’s, of course), and the bottle of Lagavulin a client had sent to the boys the year before, and that she guessed would still be there, inside the second shelf of the cupboard next to the fridge, likely more than half full – and yes, there it had been.
She had poured a measure of whisky into a small glass, and brought it back with her to the main room, where she had turned off the overhead light and lit the candles. She'd begun a ritual that reoccurred on each of the 20ths: she allowed fond memories from years past to surface; turned over events from recent history in her mind, recalling what details she could; and engaged in idle speculation about alternative futures that might have been. January The next month she had visited in the afternoon, bringing her duster with her. She had fluttered silently about the sitting room as she feathered the surfaces of various objects and curios: the skull on the mantel, and the skull on the wall with the headphones; the microscope and a box of nicotine patches; a closed laptop. As she made a circuit around the room the physical sense of briefly touching each item as she scattered the dust felt something like the motion of prayer beads being turned about in one’s hands. She was strangely reluctant to dust where Sherlock’s violin case had been, its contours still clearly visible; she felt a bit silly about leaving it there, but she carried on.
There were also some random items scattered about – the last person to have touched them being Sherlock himself, she thought, when he had set them down. She lightly touched the stereo record album covers near the turntable, wondering if they would spark memories for her of Sherlock's violin playing. But these were unfamiliar – one was a musical called Into the Woods, and one had an extremely disquieting picture on its cover, of a mirrored head on the floor, with the title in tiny type in the upper corner, Trouble Will Find Me. She shook her head, wistful -- that was certainly the truth, wasn’t it?
Underneath the two was a surprising find – an old book, authored by Groucho Marx, of all people, a cartoon picture of him on the dust jacket. She’d actually met the comic actor, back in her theatrical days; in between his bouts of wise-cracking, she’d found him to be a bit moody, and rather shy. She didn’t know if being in the flat was causing everything to remind her of Sherlock, but it occurred to her that he was very much like the funny man had been – gleefully firing off insults at the stuffy and the self-important. She was amused to see that it was a book of humor about paying taxes -- an exercise in showing he could make people laugh about the dullest of topics? -- and thought briefly about bringing it -- Many Happy Returns: An Unoffical Guide to Your Income-Tax Problems -- downstairs to read, but she left it where she had found it. She finished up with her task by dusting the coffee table, where there was a dvd case for The Day of the Jackal – with a rather distressing image of Charles de Gaulle with a bulls-eye target circle over his face – which lay on top of the soundtrack to The Princess Bride. That boy was nothing if not a bundle of contradictions, she reflected fondly.
February In February, she brought up some red paper poppies she'd found in a drawer when she'd been cleaning her flat, and she placed them in a tea cup as an ersatz arrangement. She made herself a cuppa and sat in a chair near the window, watching as the sunbeams filtered through the lace curtains, the patterns of light and dark shifting as time passed. After she rinsed out her cup, she had picked up the duster she’d left behind the last time she’d been there, and opened up the door to Sherlock’s room, lingering briefly in the door frame, letting the sadness flow gently through her chest.
Her gaze took in the neatly made bed and the nearly empty spareness of the floorspace, so unlike the sitting room -- and yet each room seemed to fit Sherlock’s personality equally well. She dusted off the dresser and then smoothed out the pillows, and then had moved to the bedside tables, picking up a set of books on the one nearest the door, and placing it on the bed while she cleaned the surface. More books, more very old books, starting to age into being antiques – such a wide range of topics caught Sherlock’s fancy! There was Tricks of the Master and Sensational Tales of Mystery Men by a Will Goldston, who apparently had been a stage performer, according to the back of the dust jacket; and M.R. James, A Warning to the Curious and Other Ghost Stories, which she herself would not consider to be bedtime reading, but then Sherlock was quite used to the macabre -- perhaps he had found it soothing.
She gave the silk dressing gown hanging from the back of the door a couple of pats, and then left, closing the door behind her, an odd feeling coming over that she was missing something, or had left something undone. She stood for a few moments, searching her mind, but nothing occurred to her, and she left to go downstairs and start making supper.
March John finally visited after she had sent him a text letting him know that quite a bit of mail with his name on it had collected; she hadn’t wanted to throw any of it away, and the accumulated items were rather bulky to post. She had been of two minds about mentioning the 20th as a possibility for him to drop by, but she decided if the date was significant in any way to him, and he’d like best to avoid Baker Street that day, that he was perfectly capable of suggesting an alternate. But he had said yes, and had, in fact, remarked that it would be something of commemorating an anniversary, and she had ageed, letting him have a glimpse of her secret.
They mounted the stairs together and gave each other conflicted smiles as they passed through the door to the flat. She had brought up a half dozen tulips -- two pairs of red and pink and one stem of yellow and one of orange. She explained about her monthly ritual, and how she preferred that to going to the cemetary; John had seemed to be pleased. He drifted along behind her as she moved about the flat, opening up the windows to air out the sitting room and the bedroom, and she chattered cheerfully about nonsense as best she could, to try and put him at his ease. Out of the corner of her eye she could see him slide his fingers across some of the items scattered about, and when they passed by the spot where the violin outline still remained, he gave her a smile conspiratorial smile.
He hadn't wanted to stay long, which was easy to see -- his posture was stiff, and when he stood in one place he shifted from foot to foot, and he'd begged off actually sitting down; that was fine, she understood.
She gave him his bundle of mail and teased him about the catalog picturing motorcycles barreling across rough terrain and snowboarders in mid-flight from a company named D30 that had arrived the week before, asking him if he was going to be taking up competitive motorsports anytime soon. She'd managed to wrangle the truest smile yet out of him, and he said, no, only cycling of the regular sort, as was manageable for stodgy middle aged men. She had hugged him tightly as he said good-bye at the top of the landing, and she had hoped it would not be so long as it had been previously, before she would see him again.
April On April 20th she brought up a bunch of dried lavender stems and set them up in a beaker, and then retrieved the tulips to toss into the bin and wash out the vase. As she held the expired flowers in her hand, she had a thought flit across her mind that something was not quite right; she shrugged, and threw them away, but then when she glanced at them before shutting the lid, it came to her -- yes, that was it, there was no yellow flower. She didn't think anyone had been upstairs; John and Mycroft would both have let her know if they were coming by, she was sure of it, although apparently one of them must have done so. Or she could just be misremembering the composition of the small bouquet; her memory wasn't what it once was, of course.
Putting the washed and dried vase back into the cupboard reminded her about the bottle of Lagavulin; today she thought she could do with a drink, and she brought it down from the other cupboard, and sat it on the counter. When she went to pour some into a glass, she was struck once more about something being odd -- was it that the level of the liquid in the bottle was lower than she had expected it to be? Had she had a larger portion than she remembered from her visit last December? It could be a memory lapse, of course; perhaps it was time to visit the doctor, although she really didn't want to be told that yes, her memory was going. Of course it had been near Christmas, and the first month after Sherlock's death -- perhaps she had imbibed more than she would customarily, because of the circumstances. Or perhaps John or Mycroft actually had been by. She decided it was nothing to fuss over.
When she walked back into the sitting room, she noticed that the door to Sherlock's room was open; she was certain she had closed it behind her the day of John's visit. She walked over and took a few steps inside; everything seemed as it had been the last time she was there. As she turned to leave, she thought she did catch a scent that hadn't been there in the months prior -- a woody scent she associated with Sherlock. Perhaps her moving about had set free some lingering molecules trapped inside some bit of fabric.
Or, perhaps her visits to the flat were becoming a bit too much for her, and her mind was having trouble letting Sherlock go. She decided it might be best to take a break, and skip her visits for the next month or so.

Okay so I saw that @foxy-alien made art of a TLT house swap AU and it started me thinking about how I’d do a similar AU… I did that instead of sleeping last night btw.
So here’s what I have so far:
Ninth House: Ianthe, Corona and Babs. Once upon a time a woman and a baby fell on their planet. When they saw the woman’s red hair they thought “ugh what Third House bullshit is this” and while they kept the corpse, they sent the baby back. We don’t want this keep your trash. They have their own drama to deal with anyway; the tomb needs its keeper to be a necromancer. Corona, while officially the heir and Reverent Daughter, is not one. Ianthe and her started hiding her lack of talent before their parents explained the whole “unbroken chain of the tomb keeper’s necromantic bloodline” thing. So long as Ianthe is around, the twins expect that everything is still fine. Still, their house hovers on the edge of breaking a promise of ten thousand years once their parents die and Corona inherits the duties of the tomb… unless they find a way to make Corona a necromancer, either by turning her into a lyctor, by making Ianthe a lyctor and then Ianthe makes her necromantic (?), or they just straight up ask Jod for a boon.
Eight House: Abigail and Magnus. Everyone is surprised when they meet them, as they do not meet the traditional pattern of their house; especially when you know the fact that Abigail’s cavalier was supposed to be a cousin but was replaced by Magnus when he married Abigail — their blood type was, luckily (or unluckily?) compatible. Like, who the fuck would want to be an Eight House cavalier??? (Magnus would. He think going into the river is exciting. He also trusts his wife.) It’s usually only when Abigail starts actually doing necromancy that people remember she’s scary AF. Through her interest in ghosts, she has developed her own custom safeguards against Magnus getting possessed when she siphons him… or if he does get possessed, she is a quick and extremely brutal exorcist.
Seventh House: Palamedes and Camilla. Pal decided on his medicine focus due to his house’s propensity for weird necromantic cancer. He firmly believes that if he can just find a way to either stabilize or treat it, the inhabitants of the seventh house will live more comfortable lives. He is considered something of an heretic due to this, but house leadership is willing to ‘let him cook’ -> they’ll wait to see if a necromancer with a stable cancer is still powerful before they decide whether to censure his research or not.
Sixth House: Jeannemary and Isaac. They’re still young, but very good at getting into places they’re not supposed to be, particularly by breaking wards and then rebuilding them better. Both of them keep trying to apply into the cohort but the scholars of the Sixth see Isaac’s skills with wards and want him to pursue academia instead. When the summons to Canaan House came the council all looked at each other, remembered they still had to appoint a new master warden after the last one passed, figured that nobody wanted to abandon their current study/experiments to go participate to what would be sure to be a tedious dick measuring contest with the other house heirs, and decided to invoke an obscure emergency clause in a law book somewhere in order to appoint Isaac to the title. He and Jeannemary really were the only ones who actually wanted to go to Canaan.
Fifth House: Dulcinea and Protesilaus. It is a shame that her health is so poor, because she would otherwise have become a hell of an ruler. While she has an ease with history and academia, her true skill is diplomacy. Dulcinea can get a very accurate read on most people, and she knows how to use their own psychology against them to make them agree to her ideas. She looks nice and fragile, but she is cunning. Meanwhile, Protesilaus is surprisingly good at paperwork for a guy who looks like he eats skulls for breakfast.
Fourth House: Judith and Martha. This AU version of them is less cocksure, but just as proficient at gathering information, profiling people, and writing down ample notes. Their rank in the cohort is lower than in canon, and they often get assigned to the tasks nobody else wants. Such as: overseeing security on ships bringing prisoners to the Ninth House prison installation… and this is how Judith and Corona met.
Third House: Harrow and Gideon. Once upon a time, the Ninth House sent them an orphan they claimed was theirs. The King and Queen didn’t pay the mystery much mind and stuck the baby in an orphanage. They had their own troubles to deal with: the royal family had not been able to produce a necromantic heir yet, and the vassal families were closing in. They figured that they couldn’t let a lesser branch of the family inherit the Third; it had never been done, would discredit them in the eyes of the other Houses, and would cause political instability. So in order to ensure the necromantic potential of their latest vat baby experiment, the King and Queen sacrificed the children in one of the lesser orphanages. They claimed that an hull breach in the space station caused the poisonous air of the planet’s upper atmosphere to get inside the ventilation system… except there was one survivor. The King and Queen were weirded out by that seemingly unkillable toddler but public opinion was heavily positive towards the ‘miracle survivor’. Not to mention having at least one person survive the incident helps make the ‘it was an accident’ excuse sound more credible. So the King and Queen brought the child to the palace and decided to do some PR by giving her a place to live and an education, and eventually made her the Cavalier of their (powerful) new daughter.
Second House: Silas and Column. Duty-bound, fanatic, no fun allowed Silas is a bit young for military service, but that doesn’t stop him from climbing the ranks. Column is still used as a battery, even in this AU, except his role is to start killing people to produce the initial necromantic boom to give Silas something to work with when they deploy to new battlefields. He hates doing this btw.

Batfamily Time-line
Decide to do a quick timeline for Batman's core family, since it seems like the Comics writers don't know how old the characters should be, and with the stories being due between New Earth and Prime Earth, things get even more confusing.
I don't really like the New 52 and most reboots irritate me, so I made this timeline based on old Batman stories. Anot all information are correct, and some is more speculation based on the Comics.
1939 -
• August 16th - Alfred Pennyworth was born.
• (His age is never specified in any type of media, but it seems like he was at least on his 30s when he became Bruce's guardian).
1962 -
• Bruce Wayne's birthday is officially February 19th (though I don't remember when the exactly year).
1970 -
• One night, while returning from the Monarch Theatre, the Wayne family was approached by the criminal, Joe Chill, who murdered Thomas and Martha and fled.
• Bruce (age 8) was left in Alfred Pennyworth's care (age 31).
1971 -
• January 26 - Kate Kane, Bruce Wayne's cousin, is born.
1973 -
• At age 14, Bruce Wayne's eyes were opened to the level of crime in Gotham and he was determined to do something about it, swearing to rid the city of the evil that had taken his parents' lives.
• He left Gotham City and spent his youth traveling the world, training himself to intellectual and physical perfection and learning a variety of crime-fighting skills, including chemistry, criminology, forensics, martial arts, gymnastics, disguise and escape artistry.

• (Catwoman: Her Sister’s Keeper)
• Selina Kyle was inspired to become a costumed thief when she sees Batman in action and becomes Catwoman.
• (Batman: Shaman, Legends of the Dark Knight #1-5)
• That same year, other rogues appeared, before the Joker even existed: Man-Bat, Scarecrow, Poison Ivy and Riddler.
1985 -
• (Batman: Year Two, Detective Comics #575-578)
• Batman inspired the vigilante movement, leading to the arrival of the likes of Superman, Flash, Wonder Woman, Black Canary and his old friend Oliver Queen as Green Arrow.
• January 26 - Cassandra Cain, daughter of Lady Shiva and David Cain, is born.
• (Batman: The Man Who Laughs, Detective Comics #784-786)

• This was the first time Batman met Selina Kyle dressed as Catwoman.
• After a long investigation, Maroni was brought to a trial, during which he threw it at Dent's face, leaving him scarred. Later, Harvey reappeared calling himself Two-Face and shot Falcone twice in the head.

1994 -
• (The brave and the bold, vol 1 #54-60; Teen Titans vol 1 #53; Teen Titans: Year One)

1996 -
• When Jason Todd was a child, he lived in a very poor neighborhood with his father Willis and his stepmother Catherine. As his wife was suffering from an illness, Willis became a criminal and started working for Two Faces to pay for her treatment.

Hi, have you drawn Talia and Ra's in your Bat au as yet? I would love to see them, and baby bat Damian peaking out from in between Bruce and Talia
I haven’t yet, but Someone mentioned in the tags of one of my posts about Ra’s and Alfred possibly being animal keepers
and I am entertaining the idea of Ra’s being an exotic animal enthusiast/rescuer and attempting to keep his extremely endangered little bat Talia’s species from going extinct and reaching out to Alfred who owns the only other known bat of her kind.
And poor Alfred just inherited Martha and Thomas’ pet bat after their death and has no clue Bruce is supposedly the most important factor in Ra’s’ mission to prologue the life of Talia’s species.

In arranged verse
will there be a day where she wants bruce? or like, give this marriage a chance to make her feel happy?
Mournful piano music drifted out of the open double doors and Alfred rocked back on his heels and listened for a moment.
It wasn't a piece he recognized but then, many of the things you played were your own compositions- none of them written down as a consequence of so many of your art pieces being destroyed over the years.
At odds with the fresh smell of cut grass and the rise and fall of cicada noise, it was enough to make him frown slightly. The inner workings of your mind and your moods were still something of an enigma. Aside from brief flashes of temper or irritation, you were resolutely sweet. Though it had gotten less cloying over time.
You weren't exactly wasting away. Withering on the vine. But nothing seemed to be much improved either. There was a sort of... stasis. And he couldn't tell if it was an improvement or not.
And neither, it appeared, could Bruce as he left the grounds keeper to his work and cocked his head, listening. A frown tugging at the corners of his mouth as he headed the Butler's direction.
"That one is new," he observed.
"Is it?" Alfred asked. "I can never be sure."
"It's one I've never heard, at least," Bruce allowed.
"It's a bit sad."
"Hn."
Alfred watched his face for a moment. The Grey Lady, or the Lady, as the staff were now calling you would probably never fill Martha Wayne's shoes but it was clear you were leaving a mark. Without a harsh word or mercurial temper, the house seemed to revolve around your moods. And today was no exception. "Perhaps," Alfred ventured, "A trip out of town-"
"Tired of dealing with us?" Bruce said smiling a little.
"It seems a pity to spend all summer in town. And you do have an artist in residence-"
"I get the hint," he snorted. "I'll see if she'd like to go somewhere."

Word spread quickly about Anabella's condition; even if the young couple had desired to keep it quiet for the time being, there was no stopping the indomitable curiosity and excitement of the people of Rosalith.
Not that the pair weren't just as ecstatic. More than just the next Dominant of Phoenix, more than just the heir to the ducal throne, this would be their first child together. It filled Elwin with overwhelming joy and pride, and a bit of fear too -- borne of uncertainty as to whether or not he would be a good father.
But that was a question to answer another time. For now, there was a celebration to prepare for.
To this end, the Archduke had ventured again into Rosalith proper, greeting and speaking with the people of the city. From soldiers to civilians, to merchants and Bearers, even children dancing and cheering around him at his very presence... Everyone seemed to want to congratulate him and the Duchess. And though Anabella was at current resting until the evening's events, he assured each and every one that he would pass on their kind and enthusiastic congratulations to her.
He politely excused himself from the gathering that had surrounded him and made his way to his intended destination -- the group of stalls where cooks saw to their own preparations. He greeted them with a warm smile, before handing over the list that had been thus far clutched in one gloved hand.
"A pleasant day, ladies. May I request these foods for the feast tonight? They are some of the Duchess's favorites, you see." — @phoenix-flamed
Tumblr media
The news were cause of rejoice all throughout the kingdom. Young Martha could feel the excitement far and wide, she herself was just as excited, though maybe even slightly more. This was her chance to prove herself to the Rosfield Family, the once in a lifetime kind of opportunity she had been waiting for.
Despite being so young, she already had some goals of her own, and this was but another step towards it, so, though she was excited about it, a part of her was also quite nervous. She had been working all day, as the cooks did, especially during luncheon and the like. She had hoped maybe she'd get the chance to gift something to both the Archduke and his pregnant wife and it seemed like such a genuine wish came to be faster than she expected.
She thought she had been dreaming when she saw the streaks of vibrant red pass through the stalls, directly towards the cooking area – exactly where she had been all morning, right where she was, right now! The ladies all rushed towards the Archduke, seeing as he was ready to request something out of them. Martha was a little slower on her feet as she tried making way to see the man. Push and push she did against the other ladies, hoping to get a glance at the request for tonight's feast, that she almost stumbled right against the man. Thankfully, her reflexes had been sharp enough to stop her on her tracks.
"G-Good day, Your Majesty! We are so happy to learn about the news of you and Her Grace!" Martha is the first one to speak, stealing the thunder of the other ladies with a high tone of voice and the giddiness to accompany it. "I believe I can make this request and more, if need be! I can assure you, Your Grace, that it will be delightful!" She speaks with confidence, though one of the ladies secretly taps on her back as if to tell her not to make promises she might not be able to keep. But little Martha is so sure she can make it! She's been preparing for a moment like this, she cannot fail!
And, immediately after noticing she had been staring at the very Archduke right in the eyes, her face grows red with embarrassment and she is quick to make an exaggerated bow towards him.
"Please, allow me to manage your request, Your Highness!"

Ok so I've been hopeless at doing my usual Episode Thoughts during s14 but if I don't get them posted before the finale then I never will. SO. the next few days will be a trip down memory lane to a whole 6 weeks ago before I'm off to the cinema on friday night!
here we goooo
no cold open we’re going straight in babes (heh)
I know we had it last ep but I do love a good seeing-the-tardis-for-the-first-time face
‘I’m the doctor’ yes you are!!
man I wasn’t a huge fan of 15's theme just hearing on its own in the concert but hearing it in context with him it works SO well
‘kinda posh’
‘they used titles’ and then i kidnapped a couple of teachers, told one to drop the 'Foreman' and the rest is history
ngl I've totally lost track of the gallifrey sitch
the master was going to blow it up then he didn't then the Doctor was going to then some guy stayed behind instead and then flux??
whatever we're back to last-of-my-kind square one
this is gallifrey theme my beloved how I have missed you
Martha and Bill yelling I told you so in the distance about the butterfly
‘Rubathon Blue of the 57th hemisphere hatchlings’ good to know I've got my Ruby tag sorted early doors!
anyway alien companion when
ooh they're going for a flying tardis
love fifteens energy!!
‘most of the universe is knackered babes’
‘the question is why did I run’ Doctor running is a key part of your whole deal. you know this right
‘yet again push the button’………when was the first time
(I have since learned there was meant to be a song on the jukebox that tied to this...would have been nice to see the jukebox being used. and also would have made these comments make sense)
…..baby looms?
‘food????? they’re not tomatoes!!’ lmao Fifteen is SO outraged
oh Ruby’s getting an End of the World moment <3
‘no boss or rent or taxes’ yeah forget time and space travel, NOW Ruby's thinking she's gotta get in on this
oh that baby is unsettling
oh no that baby mouth does not match that voice
‘mummy and daddy are here!’ Ruby and Fifteen: 😬
it's so weird having fairly confident small child voices paired with very vacant baby faces
.....do these babies have nappies? that they change??
aww you can really see Ruby is used to kids, lifetime as a foster sister <3
ok Captain Poppy is the only voice so far that kinda works
‘oh popsicle’ naww Fifteen is so sweet with them
Fifteen and Poppy are so cute!!
also lol I love RTD going hard with the timeless child at every opportunity
‘nappies are changed at 1800h’ ok well that explains that
Ruby: ‘I didn’t mean to scare you 💞’ Fifteen: 'hey kids it's the BOGEYMAN!!!!!!' Ruby: 😠
ok listen. I know this is not it. but the boots and the length of the trousers.......Ruby's mum kinda looks like Thirteen
oh that's very much a hug-is-a-way-to-hide-your-face hug there
‘that’s the fate of every refugee, you have to physically turn up on someone’s shore’
Eric and the world’s most tiny and useless sword
‘a crock of waste product'
‘nice plan but what now' Ruby hon. this was your plan
you can really tell Ruby is used to looking after kids
‘don’t you touch them you illegitimate person’
FLAMETHROWER BABIES
oh Fifteen knows Ruby’s a keeper
‘oh babes…space babes’ lol Fifteen's just here to have fun (space) baby
‘it’s snot’ ‘it’s not’ the beauty of the english langauge
‘it is one of your children!!’ :(
even the (space) babies think that death by airlock disintegration a bit much
awooooooo!
I guess seeing the doctor save the bogey monster made them less scared??
appreciate RTD's commitment to getting some good fart work in both his first series of this show lol
but what will happen to the monster on the new planet??
like sure it's their sibling but.....does it know that?
‘I’m very very happy’ says the baby with the most sorrowful eyes I’ve ever seen
tardis key!!
Ruby letting 15 into the tardis <3
RIP Carla Sunday's kitchen ceiling
first a crack and now this......at least the Doctor's giving the local plasterer good work
‘what the blinking flip’ Cherry Sunday's got a nanny filter on her
‘tell your mum not to slap me’ Thirteen got off light with Yaz’s mum
now when are we meeting the timelord called The Saggy Sheet??
the Doc's just going around giving their name willy nilly now lmao
as it should be I never enjoyed their name being a Big Mystery
kinda wish we got to see Ruby's family react to learning more about the Doctor!
hmmmm the dna scan is giving me v s6 vibes (derogatory)
Well that was a weird one, but since when hasn't DW been weird! Ngl it took me watching a second time to enjoy it a bit more because I was just SO thrown off by the baby voices lmao, but it was just generally a fun time, nothing too serious and just a chance to see a bit more of Fifteen and Ruby's dynamic! And it did tie in nicely to the ideas of Ruby and the Doctor both being abandoned, Ruby being a foster sister and the Doctor being the last of their kind. Two baby episodes in a row is enough for me though, glad it looks like next ep is baby-free, space or otherwise 😅

Note
Kara is going to end up thinking humans become parents by the rules of Finders Keepers for the next 12 years.
Jon and Martha: hello neighbors meet our Very Normal Human Children. :))))
all of Smallville: /lies to the government when they come looking for "meteor" landing sites
Kara, perfectly logically while watching Blue's Clues with baby Kal: oh I guess humans are just Like This, huh.
(Honestly, if I get far enough, Kara maaaaay end up taking a future note from the Kents' parenting book, so far as playing Finders Keepers with surprise teenagers goes.)
