why does our independence have to depend on the cruelty and emotional immaturity of men to be given permission to show itself? and, more importantly, why are non-men continuing to push this narrative in their writing when they say they understand how harmful it is?

it’s just jarring to witness. it’s also why writers like you and me don’t have a platform here—we’re so constantly drowned out by writers that appeal to the readers who are so scared and disgusted at the idea of being human and three - dimensional that they choose to disappear into the fantasy of the vapid, naïve girl next door.
