I like to think that JRRT labelled his books as 'translations' specifically to leave greater room for reader interpretation.

If JRRT himself is translating from somewhere, then what he says cannot be 'canon'. Things get lost in translation after all. And since he's translating written history, that gives us even more leeway as that is one version of what transpired in Middle Earth. Actual events may vary as memories are prone to fade and twist.

In other words, your headcanons are like Schrödinger's cat. Maybe they happened, maybe not. For none now live who can confirm it, least of all JRRT.

Request: Hi, if you're taking requests, can I get headcanons for the Fellowship? The reader is a Maia witch and is sort of a colleague of Gandalf's but he's also a bit of a mentor. Since stepping foot on Middle Earth you had always been a wanderer

Of course you had spent time with the other Maiar; though you had your own specialized magic, Gandalf mentored you a lot

You always felt closer to Radagast the Brown; he cared deeply about nature and the living world that you lived in

You had been known to almost vanish for years at a time, exploring some deep cavern or somewhere high in mountains, it was always on a whim

You were elusive--all the races of Middle Earth had their own names and tall tales about you

But as the Age of the Elves starts to dwindle you start to ease down on the amount of adventures you have

Until your dear old friend Gandalf the Grey shows up on your doorstep out of breath with and almost crazed look in his eyes

A hobbit has the One Ring

So much for not traveling

You join the Fellowship at the Council of Elrond--no one opposes having another magical being in their midst

You try to get to know the other members better, it has been some time since you have interacted with people so your communication skills are a little rusty

Gandalf trusts you, of course, he is thrilled you have agreed to join them

He confides in you about the quest and the situation; things he would not tell the others

You two understand each other in a way no one else in the Fellowship can

The two of you, to fill the time, talk about your own travels and the history of Middle Earth

"You have been gone for too long, (Y/n), Middle Earth has suffered in your absence."

"Oh Gandalf, I needed to see everything before it was too late."

Boromir is a little wary of you, in Gondor they believe your presence is a bad omen since you do not show yourself too frequently near Minas Tirith

He warms up to you while travelling to the Mines of Moria because you and Gandalf exerted so much power trying to save them

"You are not the ill portent my father has talked about, witch. Why did you avoid Minas Tirith for so long?"

Aragorn has probably seen glimpses of you throughout his life and because of his travels he has heard many stories about you

Honestly he's very intrigued and asks many questions about what you have seen

He really trusts you almost immediately, you were welcomed in Rivendell, showing that Elrond trusted you

In Lothlorien Galadriel also holds you in high esteem, she's surprised you're in the Fellowship; not because you do not care about the fate of Middle Earth, but because you never tend to stay in one place long

"You must guide me, (Y/n). With Gandalf lost...I cannot proceed without council..."

Legolas is all over you--endless questions about the world and the time that has passed, but in like a subdued manner

He trusts you, though in recent years your reputation has been tarnished by his father, who is of the thought that you and the other wizards should have helped them fight against the spiders. He believes the Greenwood fell to darkness due to the negligence of the wizards

"Do you believe the Greenwood will be cured after we destroy the Ring, (Y/n)? I have missed my home..."

Gimli goes through the motions of meeting a witch only a handful of people have encountered in your lifetime

He's the one that discovered your sense of humor and loves joking with you

You ask him about recent dwarven culture, dwarves are wary of outsiders so it has been a while since you have seen their tools and creations

"Just you wait, lass, what we have created is unlike anything you have ever seen!"

Merry is genuinely delighted that you joined them

He feels a lot safer with two wizards, even if you’re not that experienced with fighting

Merry trusts your judgement and certainly looks for your approval just like he does with Gandalf

(Also please show him magic he loves Gandalf’s fireworks and he wants to see what else magic can do since Gandalf doesn’t really show anyone that stuff)

“Can you make Boromir’s shield disappear, (Y/n)? Or perhaps make Legolas’ hair a different color?”

Pippin is like Merry on crack

He wants to know every little detail about everything but at the same time he is chewing your ear off

Honestly he’s probably telling you his life story too

He enjoys your company, like Merry he feels a lot more secure in this quest and he also comes to see you as a friend

Wants to see your magic, even if you just create sparks at your fingertips

Probably your number one fan

“Can I see your staff (Y/n)? I promise not to use it to singe Gandalf’s beard!”

Sam is very shy around you and is very protective of Frodo

Sure Gandalf trusts you, but you’ve only ever been a fable in the Shire

He knows nothing about you, what have you been doing this entire time?

He does warm up to you, though, once you prove to him that you are truly there to help them succeed

Learns a lot about herbs from you, whether they be for cooking or medicine

“Tell me about the Elves, (Y/n). You must know so much about them. Rivendell was so beautiful…”

Frodo is highly suspicious of you for quite a while

It is mostly because he is afraid of the Ring and its influence

He doesn’t know you like he knows Gandalf so it takes him a bit to trust you

Bilbo has only told him rumors of you

It isn’t until Gandalf dies that he really starts looking to you for guidance

He takes to you mostly at night when everyone is asleep because he is away from prying eyes

“This quest leads me to my death, doesn’t it witch? I do not know how to even begin to understand that…”

Overall you guys learn to bond and grow together throughout the quest

You have never been so happy to be around people despite the circumstances, and you start to understand why Gandalf has always been so involved with the people of Middle Earth

Older Bachelor headcanons!

Older Bachelor stardew headcanons because I’ve been playing lots recently! All sfw, some mentions of smoking/alcohol 💕 also please bear in mind I am no SDV expert, so sorry if these go against canon occasionally!

Harvey ☕️🔬📚

• Secret smoking habit that he would rather die than tell anyone about. Not often, but during flu season when he’s stressed, you can find him cooped up in his room with an imported cigar or a Marlboro Gold, an espresso and an Agatha Christie.

• Plays classic soul, funk, golden oldies and jazz in the foyer of the clinic on an old-timey record player, and chooses every day from his large record collection. Frequently irritates Maru with the extent of his Doris Day enjoyment.

• Kind of wide-set - very broad shoulders, and quite tall.

• Packets of salted peanuts and cookies on the clinic foyer desk which he restocks every week.

• Goes to fetch you personally from the mines or Skull Cavern sometimes when you get knocked out. And he also keeps a vintage forest green car behind the clinic to pick you up in. He hopes one day you’ll wake up on the way back and compliment his tasteful vehicle choice or notice he’s bringing you home. You don’t.

• Best friends with Evelyn. Worst enemies with George.

• Tennis player. Plays with whoever will say yes in the mountains and always manages to punt the ball into the lake somehow. Also used to be in a rock climbing club at university, and has sort of sinewy forearms as a result.

• Outrageous flirt after a few glasses of Pinot Noir, mostly because I think he’s on the spectrum but also because I think it would help him stop being quite so nervous.

• Brown suspenders. Every. Single. Day.

• Gives Jas and Vincent candy after their checkup.

• “Sweetheart/honey” as a nickname for you.

Elliott 📜🖋️🐚

• Striped. Matching. Pajamas.

• Finds, forages and cooks mussels when he needs to impress someone. And on that note, very much a French cuisine enjoyer.

• If blue cheese has no fans Elliott is dead.

• Rizz master. Silver tongue. Read so much romance when he was a teenager that it has actively become a part of his personality to be a book boyfriend.

• Very willowy and slender. Metabolism of the gods. Puts away food like it’s nobody’s business.

• Can read several languages, but just can’t master an accent so never uses them in a spoken context. Definitely a student of Latin.

• English accent headcanon! Probably spent the first couple of decades of his life in somewhere high-income like Warwickshire, or (more likely) Cornwall or Exeter, on or near the coast. I am also envisioning him as having been to an old collegiate university like Durham, or maybe a college at Oxford (Merton I reckon).

• Writes and then burns poems about everyone he’s ever been in love with. Starts keeping them when he meets you.

• Chats fashion history with Emily and Haley.

• Religious about his collection of cravat-style ties because he’s seen the Colin Firth Pride and Prejudice a few too many times.

• Frequent book club gatherings with Caroline, Marnie, Robin and Jodi (mostly because mothers love him, the main selling point here being that he has definitely read at least one Jodi Picoult book. He does not remember anything about it, he’s just glad to be invited).

Shane 🍺🍕🐓

• Snores. Very quiet about it though.

• I know a lot of people HC Harvey as oldest but I reckon it’s Shane. He also acts the most like a bitter old man whereas I feel Harvey is just ‘mature’.

• Could be convinced to grow a beard. Maybe.

• Goes for a jog three times a week. Hates it. Refuses to stop and really isn’t even sure why he does it himself any more.

• Secret Lana Del Rey enjoyer. Mainly a fan of Midwest emo, classic rock, nu metal and sometimes country but the kind of country where they sing about killing people and getting away with it.

• Raised by heavily Christian parents in the Deep South. Yes this is a Southern accent headcanon. Yeehaw.

• Lets Jas put eyeshadow on him sometimes. Shaves properly only when she wants to put makeup on him.

• Craft beer’s number one opp. Wants an ice cold tap Budweiser only, and if there isn’t enough head on it he will be asking for a refund. Not that Gus would ever do that to him.

• Has muscle with padding. Very strong, very wide in stature, but not lean at all. Biceps wider than your neck that you could (and would) use as pillows.

• Makes the most insane hangover breakfast known to man. Bacon. Pancakes. Sausage. Home fries. Butter. Syrup. You’re putting on a bit of healthy relationship weight for sure with Shane as your partner.

• “Darlin’/baby” user. “Sweet cheeks” as a joke. Kind of a joke.

• to everyone else, mattheo is an uncaring bad boy - that is his reputation, that will always be his reputation

• but deep down, he's really a sweetheart

• he loves muggle music, more than he's willing to admit; the smith's, of course, and basically anything 60s and 70s; i'd say he also really loves punk rock, like the ramones

• out of all the slytherin boys, he's closest with blaise

• he and draco are actually not as close as you'd think them to be

• if anything, i feel like mattheo knows draco, pansy, crabbe, and goyle but he's not very close with them - he is, however, close with blaise and theodore nott

• he doesn't smoke - sorry for those of you who stan bad boy!mattheo but he just doesn't

• he likes to create art - he's never shown anyone, not even blaise

• he particularly likes to go out late at night to various parts of the grounds and draw what he sees - the black lake, near hagrid's hut, the astronomy tower, the clock tower, etc.

• he is not a morning person AT ALL, this man is a night owl

• he's actually a very nice person - very funny and sarcastic

• he doesn't have any interest in romance (that is until he meets you ofc)

• he's very smart but has no interest in academics

kaeya is more of a casual drinker, only hitting the tavern when he really feels like it. keeping it away from you isn't too much of a problem for him

ensures that you are far away from any drunkards you may encounter on the walk home, not wanting you to relive anything you went through

if you do happen to pass by a drunk that reminds you of what happened, he immediately shields you from them, carefully hiding your eyes

once you're finally resting in your sweet little abode, he immediately pulls out the works

fuzzy blankets, water, your favorite snack, gentle massages, your favorite book. everything and anything you want. he doesn't want you upset

holds you close and reminds you that what happened isn't your fault, and that it's not your job to care for everyone around you

tighnari

he hates drinking; despises it with his whole body

there's barely any alcohol in the house, aside from maybe white wine for cooking

you both stay away from taverns and any plants that might have an affect similar to getting drunk

you two mostly stay together at his house anyway, so coming across someone who's been drinking heavily is pretty rare

of course, if you two are forced to a social gathering with more drinking, he'll take you to a calmer place; if it's in the akademiya, he'll sneak you into one of the many libraries

you two will read to each other for a bit, before sneaking off back home

baizhu

baizhu isn't much of a drinker, aside from maybe the occasional glass of wine in the bath. he's not a lightweight, so it takes a lot for him to even get tipsy

of course, there is the odd occurrence where he might get drunk, but he'll make sure you're up somewhere safe, while he stays down in the pharmacy

he'll leave changsheng to keep you company, that way you don't feel as isolated as you did in your childhood

she'll curl up next to your legs, flicking her tongue out as a sign of affection

baizhu will be busy trying to sober up, trying all sorts of different remedies so he can come back to you

he'll come back upstairs, trying not to vomit

zhongli

like most of the guys on this list, zhongli probably isn't much of a drinker. aside from the occasional glass of osmanthus wine; which he tends to refrain from, due to the overwhelming wave of nostalgia

really just prefers to drink tea, and will gladly talk to you for hours about the history of all sorts of kinds

if there is alcohol at a gathering that he's attending, he'll keep both you and him somewhat far from it

he might grab one glass for himself, but that's kind of where it stops

if too many people get drunk, he'll take you back to liyue harbor and go on a mini date with you down there, just walking by the water and admiring the many ships

maybe if you're lucky, he'll switch to his dragon form and give you a little ride

RnM Headcanons:

I promised to write some headcanons about the girls and their guardians some time ago. I finally had motivation to write them down, so here there are!

Optimus Prime and Sunset Shimmer:

- Sunny never had a father figure in her life and really enjoys it when they spent time together

- Optimus is very caring and protective of his charge

- You know this thing where you tell your dad you like this specific stuff and then he brings you more? That’s definitely OP

- One time he overheard Sunset having discussion with Pinkie Pie about their favorite desserts. After mentioning that she really likes strawberry cheesecake, and that’s her favorite fruit, Optimus swiftly assigned himself a mission

- Later, when Sunset had to leave her home to get some groceries, she was greeted by bunch of wooden boxes full of strawberries on her front door

- She was flabbergasted

SS: Optimus- how did you-?!

OP: I heard you mentioning that you enjoy this specific type of fruit.

SS: You didn’t need to bring me a whole stack of it!

OP: Oh, apologies… Do you perhaps need more?

SS: Wha- NO!

- They both like reading so they will certainly share their opinions or recommend some of the books they like (especially history ones)

- Usually there are moments when one of them starts feeling down while talking about their past

- Lots of comfort and reassurance

- You cannot tell me Sunset hasn’t call him ‘dad’ at least once on accident

- She will most likely feel super embarrassed about it, however, Optimus will start crying from the inside

- One time she even decided to draw him a portrait as a small gift (he kept it in his quarters and smiles every time he sees it <3)

Arcee and Twilight Sparkle:

- You guys know Eda and Luz from the Owl house? That’s them. Except that Arcee is waaay much more of a strict and protective mom figure

- This motorcycle lady doesn’t understand half of the science stuff her charge is saying but that doesn’t mean she is not listening

- Calls her ‘kid’ most of the time, even though Twilight said she was a full grown adult who can take care of herself

- Arcee has these ‘mother/carrier instincts’ she just can’t help but WORRY

- Really enjoys to rest besides her human companion and listen to her talking

- Fun fact: it took a bit longer for Arcee to realize that she had become a parental figure... again

- One time, Twilight asked if she can learn some words of their Cybertronian language and Arcee gladly accepted to teach her

- They often go out for a drive, especially when Twilight gets too overwhelmed with work

- How many times did this girl fell asleep while doing her studies? Arcee lost count.

- Robot mom grabs a blanket, wraps it around her and carries her to somewhere more comfortable

- Heck she will even hold her till she wakes up if she can’t find a place for her to take a proper rest

- Will kick anyone’s ass/aft if they disrupt her sleeping

- Brains and brawn duo

Knock Out and Rarity:

- So stylish and dramatic

- *cough* theatre kids *cough*

- Can literally stare at you with judging faces while also gossiping about your appearance

- Shopping? Oh, absolutely.

- What’s better than having a guardian who can transform into a car and carry your bags in his vehicle mode?

- To return the favor Rarity offers him a hand with polishing his finish

- They have this ‘relaxation day’ once in a while

- Buffing, manicures, watching movies, trying on some makeup or outfits, you know it

- He really wanted to try these types of masks which made your skin cleaner and softer. Doesn’t give a flying frag if he is a robot, will even use a mass displacement to try it out

- Knock Out is kinda touch starved and it didn’t took Rarity too long to realize that

- Her guardian often suggests if he can hold her or if she wants to sit on his shoulder-pad while he works

- This big cherry bot really enjoys to run his digit around her curly hair or to playfully poke her cheeks

- As his best friend, she always gives him compliments for the good work he has done

- There was even a moment when she was in her robot form and she cupped his face-plate while praising him

- And let me tell you. Knock Out was absolutely stunned. He was on the verge of TEARS. (poor boy needs more love and attention)

- Hugs are a must, he just starves for them

- Appreciates it a lot whenever Rarity is there for him

Sideswipe and Rainbow Dash:

- SIBLINGS SIBLINGS SIBLINGS

- They are the MASTERS of pranks

- Chaos, absolute chaos I tell you

- Pretty cocky and competitive too

- Some of their team members even wonder how are they not related??

- Often show off their abilities and talk about how they are 'the most skilled person/bot there ever is'

- They share one brain cell

- Both of them care deeply for each other, they just show it through actions. They aren’t really into the sharing feelings conversations but if things get pretty tough, they will have to talk about it, whether they like or not

- Sideswipe has these overprotective habits where he keeps his optics on her all the time or stays pretty close during any dangerous situations. This dude just doesn’t want to see her getting harmed otherwise he will flip out

- During their free time they like to play video games, go racing or just go for a casual drive, have training exercises (soccer, fighting etc.) or to annoy the rest if they are bored and have nothing else to do

- Will never tell this to anyone else but there a few occasions when they like to rest together

- Imagine one of them has a nightmare or can’t fall asleep. It’s snuggle time.

-If he is recharging in his vehicle form, Rainbow will grab a pillow and curl up on the seats OR he will lay on his chassis and rest his helm over his crossed arms, then he can nestle her close to his face-plate

- Sideswipe is a music enjoyer so he will definitely hype her up when she plays the guitar

- Rainbow teaches him all of the slangs and memes she can think of

- They cover one another or make up excuses if they want to go out to have some fun

- Dash pretty often forgets about things she needs to do (chores, homework or smth else) but her guardian is there to remind her

Bumblebee and Fluttershy:

- The 'parent friends' of the group

- Bee has these awful dad-jokes that he uses and somehow Shy is the only one that will laugh at them

- Some of their teammates tease the two about them acting just like love-bugs

- Bumblebee was so delighted when Fluttershy got out of her shell and finally felt comfortable around him

- Finds it adorable when she becomes too flustered and covers her face

- Like to talk about their interests and listen to each other

- Sometimes he gets a bit nervous and forgets how to properly talk (even if it’s a compliment or want to ask her something) she thinks it's cute

- If she gets too scared her first instinct is to quickly hide behind him

- He really loves listening to their band’s music when they practice at the base

- Both enjoy the late night drives when they can relax

- They often talk about Earth and it’s most incredible places they have seen or wish to explore. Bee will probably plan a short trip just for the two of them, the Groundbridge is right there!

Smokescreen and Pinkie Pie:

- This two are always full on energy

- Will never get bored when they are together, they will find something fun or mischievous to do

- *gasp* Oh no, Smokey is sad? Np! Pinkie is here to help! She has her ways of cheering people up.

- Poor big bot wishes he could taste human food. Every time he sees her amazing baked goods he pouts

- One day she made some cupcakes with blue-yellow icing that matched his color scheme (he didn’t cry after that nooo)

- He can get anxious tho, especially when Pinkie is too carefree (he doesn’t want his human to get hurt after all)

- Smokescreen is a show-off so he usually tries to impress her with his fighting abilities and speed

- This sweet girl always encourages him and supports her guardian no matter what

- He is amazed by the many talents she has (baking, playing the drums, roller skating etc.) like how?? What she can’t do?!

- Will always remain surprised by her hair. She keeps so many things inside, how is that even possible? Guess it will remain a mystery.

Bulkhead and Applejack:

- When I tell you AJ is one of the strongest members in the team, I mean it

- She can lift every heavy and large bot with EASE

- Their hugs are so funny and adorable she sometimes doesn’t realize she is actually lifting him from the ground

- Often talk about the good old days or the cool adventures they had

- Sometimes they have wrestling competitions and what do you know, AJ wins them all!

- If no one else is around, Bulkhead will help her out with the chores in the apple farm

- Will sometimes stumble on something by accident and apologize immediately

- Applejack thinks his clumsy and nervous side is pretty sweet

- She always appreciates his assistance (even tho he crushed several trees, oops)

- He definitely likes hearing her cute snorts when she laughs

SO: I have this headcanon (which I cannot remember for the life of me if it’s something I completely made up or if he has a notebook in LU/his game-) that Warriors has a journal that he carries around with him pretty much everywhere. It’s not his first one, he has several he’s already completed filled out that are locked up somewhere secret back home, but these journals have EVERYTHING in them

These journals started out as places to take notes when he’d first joined the army and was getting a little bit of an education, he didn’t want to forget anything so he wrote it all down. Then they were just PAPER, something he could use to write letters to home, but as everything started happening the things these letters contained weren’t things he could tell his family and they never got sent or torn out of the journals. They didn’t necessarily contain military secrets (not at this point), just things he couldn’t tell another soul but he couldn’t continue to keep in his head. He needed to get it OUT, so he wrote it down in his native language that no one around him really understands so that information and those thoughts were safe. If anyone DID get a hold of those books they’d never understand it, and they’d at the very least be significantly slowed down because they’d have to take the time to translate it. The writing is cramped and frantic and the pages are tear stained in his more letter like entries and it’s damn near illegible at times, but its a way for him to just get it OUT so he can shove it away

Some of the journals from the war have pages torn out, completely or with just enough page left to read a little of the words on them. Those missing pages were burned and forgotten, they held memories Warriors himself can’t recall anymore. There’s a reason they’re gone

These journals are something he’s always kept on him, since the age of 16, and eventually he started using them for MORE than just to write letters that would never be sent, he started using them once again for notes. For strategies and plans and details of war. Battles planned out, notes for fellow soldiers, what worked what didn’t, documentation of battles won and lost. Some of these pages were translated and written out in neat, perfect handwriting and turned over to Zelda after the war to be preserved in history books, others to be used to better the army

Every page is dated, but the journals arent sectioned into “letters” and “notes”. If he wants information he has to scroll through and look for the date it was written, everything’s mixed together, separated by quick, harsh lines of ink between blocks of text

These books contain the hopes and dreams of a teenage boy, detailed analyses of the hyrulian army, the rage of a young man, ramblings of someone who felt truly broken, burned memories, meticulously sketched out fields with hastily drawn troop positions, a doodle or two from Mask

But more recently: In addition to this, one he keeps on him currently contains notes on the others. At first their weak points and important information about them ranging anywhere from “Wind has a peanut allergy” to “Don’t mention goats around Twi unless you have time to listen to him yap”. In those first weeks these notes could certainly be interpreted as him planning to do wrong, but that was never his intent. He has notes on his fellow soldiers weaknesses from his own era because he’s so used to studying people and helping them grow. He SHARES these notes with them, not that they can read them, but he tells them what he notices in a kind way and helps them improve and marks their progress

These books ARE his brain, he’s a damn genius who can’t organize his thoughts. He needs to see it all in a physical way in order to process it, though he’s not so stupid as to mention anything in these books that could be used to take down the queen, even if they are in another language. He’s not going to risk it

A Very Unique Ghost Headcanon

My friend and I got lunch together today and we went to a bookstore afterwards for a bit. An idea about Ghost had spawned so here's the whole thing.

*Does contain MW3 spoilers towards the end*

When Ghost is on leave, he spends a lot of time at a local bookstore. The staff and other locals began calling him "a ghost" because he's very quiet and appears for several days every few months. He's always very quiet and seems to "appear and disappear" randomly. He eventually spends so much time there, pretty much everyone knows him. Not by name, but they recognize him/when he's in town. They know he's a bit weird based on all the things he reads. He goes from reading really deep books about self-improvement to horror/true crime novels to silly animal fact books and laughing cause "penguins are silly". He's very kind though, everyone knows, and is always willing to grab something off a high shelf or assist an elderly person in carrying their items.

There's a table that's basically reserved for him now, sitting in the back corner of the bookstore's little cafe. There's always a stack of books that he wants to read sitting on the table. Sometimes the stack remains untouched for several months before "Ghost" is seen again. Sometimes, he comes back a bit more ragged than normal, and even sometimes more he comes back with an arm in a sling and a limp. But everyone gets used to the presence that is their local cryptid, even if he isn't much of a conversationalist.

Then they realize he journals everything he reads. He likes to write about all the things he learned while reading that day, and is diligent about dating everything.

This habit spawned from a few years he spent giving himself therapy because the military believed him dead, and he couldn't afford one outside of it. So, he took to the bookstore and it's nice section of self-improvement books and the mental help journals. He realized he actually really enjoys journaling, and likes being able to reflect back on all the things he read that year.

But he leaves the journals at the table with the books he has yet to read. And some people start getting curious. And someone reads the journals. They know it's horrible, but they figure there can't be anything personal if the man is willing to leave the journals unattended for months at a time. And that's when everyone learns he's actually journaled everything he's read for the last 4 years (how long it took him to get into that habit), and it's an incredibly fascinating read.

He's very well-spoken about the things he discusses, and his handwriting is pleasant and easy to understand. Not to mention, he only uses pen, and the fact he sometimes has to scribble out mistakes makes the journals feel familiar in a human way. There's something so personal and intimate about it, and it all adds to the local myth of the ghost that haunts the bookstore.

But then one day, the regular people that read the journals realize Ghost has started to mention someone within his readings. It starts small, a little comment on a book he read about the history of explosives: "I blame JSM for me reading something like this. It's fascinating stuff, and they have grown rather complicated these days. Wonder if there's more on modern explosives."

Just the initials: JSM. What they don't know is the initials belong to one John "Soap" MacTavish, the man to hold Ghost's heart.

And for a while, there's a lot of entries including the initials "JSM" somewhere in their contents. Some entries are almost entirely relating to this "JSM" person. And it's clear, as the mentions of "JSM" increase, that Ghost has fallen madly in love with whomever this is. And the people that read the journals have grown fond of Ghost, and are cheering him on, hoping he gets his happy ever after.

But then Ghost doesn't show up for over a year. The stack of books remains the same, the journals untouched.

But when he does, something's different. He immediately heads towards the section on "Grief and Loss". He stands there for an overwhelmingly long time before picking a couple of books and heading for his little table in the back.

And he reads, and journals, and cries all at the same time. No one even realized he was crying until a staff member passed by and noticed the tears falling from his eyes as he scribbled into the journal. No one bothers him, of course, but there's an overwhelming sadness that passes over the bookstore that day.

No one's brave enough to read the entries from that day, and they let the journals sit overnight. Ghost is back the next day, does the same, and leaves. Doesn't spend hours just simply perusing, but instead sits and reads the books he collected on grief/personal loss and journals.

But one day, after Ghost stops showing up again, becomes brave enough to read the journal entries from the last 3 days.

Word spreads like wildfire.

JSM is now Johnny and Johnny is gone.

It all makes sense, and all the regulars, all the staff that are familiar with Ghost and his journals mourn. They mourn on Ghost's behalf and they mourn for Ghost.

They mourn for him because the way he wrote changed, the way he spoke in his entries changed, his demeanor when in the store changed. They mourn Ghost because clearly Johnny took a part of him with him; his heart.

One day, there's a book about coping with losing your spouse, specifically geared towards younger people (especially ones in Ghost and Soap's age range *25-35*). There's actually no journal entries specified for most of the book, almost like he simply read it and didn't bother sharing his thoughts.

That is until the end of the book, where there's one journal entry marked to accompany the final chapter.

{I've read this book probably ten times now. The first time was actually the easiest. It was new to me, and I enjoy picking apart new books and getting through them. The second time was the hardest. It's when the words I had already read were starting to sink in. Too quickly I had been brought back to that day I lost Johnny. I didn't dwell too long on this book. I didn't want to, at least. But I kept going back to it because I knew it had answers and solutions. In reality, it didn't really help. It more took the mess in my head and sorted it out so I could deal with it more easily. I miss Johnny more than anything else in life. Losing him has been the worst thing I've ever gone through. Which is quite impressive, considering some of the things I've experienced. This book has taught me many things, and I only wish to share the one I feel speaks the greatest volumes. "But like all wounds, it takes time to heal a broken heart." What an incredible lesson. I've had my fair share of wounds to heal from, and I am painfully intimate with the recovery process of broken bones. Never once did I consider my heart something that could be wounded and recovered from. I always figured if my heart had been wounded, then that would be the end. But I was wrong. A heart can be broken and wounded, and like all injured things, it can heal. It's a beast of a recovery process, I won't lie, but the idea I'm merely recovering from a near-fatal injury comforts me. It's morbid, I suppose, to be comforted by that, but I am. It means he didn't die in vain, and that is all I ask for.

What are your headcanons about Marcille's mom if you have any? It's interesting that what drew Donato to her was cause she lived the history he studied, or that was said somewhere at least. She must've had an interesting life.

so this was going to be just a normal answer but then I realized I have a Lot of Things To Say. so here goes, a compilation of what we know for a fact from the canon, what I've extrapolated from the visual cues and details, and my theories based on all of that.

Things we know for a fact about Marcille's mother because they were explicitly stated in the manga and supplemental materials:

She was a court mage for a Tall-man kingdom at the southern part of the Northern Continent

Donato, a court historian, fell in love with her because she had lived through the history he was studying, and he courted her for 17 years (age 15 to 32) before getting married

She was a cheerful person who rarely showed extreme emotion and took things as they came

She always cooked a huge meal for Marcille on her birthdays

She remarried a gnome after Donato's death and a short distance away from Marcille's childhood home

Pipi, Marcille's pet bird, was actually older than Marcille and originally belonged to her mother (bird died at 62)

She was extremely heartbroken when Donato died and ultimately ended up instilling a deep fear of mortality in Marcille with her words

the only time she showed extreme emotion in front of her family was when Donato could no longer eat his favourite dish near the end of his life.

She scolded Marcille for being cruel to ants (implying she can have a stern side when needed)

Things that are explicitly shown but mostly through visual cues

She has a very distinctive style of dress always involving a ribbon choker (mirroring Marcille's habit of always wearing a matching choker with any of her outfits that don't cover her neck)

She was almost stereotypically good at housekeeping and traditionally "wifely" things (very frequently depicted wearing an apron or doing some domestic chore when not at work, seems to have been an avid cook).

She knits? (also, note the affectionate smile as she's looking at Donato and Marcille reading a book together in the full panel)

She was as excited for Marcille's milestones as Donato was.

She didn't tell Marcille much about elven food

(there are a couple things that this panel in particular implies:

She lived a good deal of her life (if not being born and raised) in a mainly elven country in the West, implied by her knowing enough of an elven region's cuisine to prefer Tall-man food over it

seems to have a pretty carefree and casual demeanour overall, if this is how she replied to Marcille asking her about it (sounds like she never gave her culinary preferences that much thought to begin with)

slightly related to number 2, it seems like she and Marcille had a fairly casual parent-child dynamic (especially in comparison to the Toudens' memory of their father)

(local elf tastes Italian food once and never goes back))

However, she seems a lot more... serious in most of the other times we see her? Almost like the very stereotypical archetype of a graceful elf.

Subsequent conclusions about her personality:

Usually pretty carefree and cheerful at home, has been a loving and attentive parent throughout Marcille's childhood (while not being so doting that she didn't discipline Marcille).

Slightly more conjectural theories on her personality:

Had a much more graceful and professional personality at work, which would explain the more serious portraits we see of her.

Given that both she and Donato had positions at the royal court, it seems a little odd that she'd go out of her way to do all the housework herself, so maybe she just enjoyed doing it?

Now taping all the evidence together and toeing the line between analysis and fanfiction:

It's clear that she loved Donato very much and was utterly devastated by losing him. But there's one thing that really stuck out to me in what little we see of her:

Doesn't she seem... angry? The way she's gritting her teeth, clutching the tablecloth, and how this is the first and only time we see her eyes opened that wide. In the following panel, you see her being quiet and dejected after her initial outburst. She's still crying very intensely, but her brows are furrowed, and she's not really responding to Donato's affection in her body language.

We're not told the details of how she felt about losing Donato other than that it upset her. But this, to me, implies that she was angry and resented that he was aging, that the end of his life was approaching. An "it's not fair" type of preemptive grief. And if this was the first and last time she cried like this in front of her family, she was either very good at coping in private... or very bad at letting herself feel unpleasant emotions until they become unavoidable and end up overwhelming her.

It's not too remarkable a detail on the surface. It's even reminiscent of what the audience has seen of Marcille. But... when it comes to the big picture, you'd think an elf who voluntarily chose to marry a tall-man and have a half-elf child would have been better prepared for this.

It kind of recontextualizes her cheerfulness to me.

"I'm sure everything's gonna be okay!" (or some variation thereof, depending on what translation you have).

And this is stated to contrast her extreme grief when finally confronting Donato's failing body and eventual death. But I'm wondering if... maybe this optimism was why she was so upset. What if she went into all of it thinking "everything's gonna be okay"? What if she was a little young by elven standards, and just followed her heart thinking that her own resilience would get her through anything?

Of course, only to get completely overwhelmed when she actually loses Donato. She turns into a completely different person. And that's heartbreaking on its own-- but what the audience sees is the effect it had on Marcille. Can you imagine being her, watching your invincible and upbeat mother suddenly lose all the light in her eyes in one go?

I've already made a huge post about how I think Marcille models her "work persona" off her mother, but another thing that stuck with me as I was looking for more details in the manga was this:

copy pasting from the other post i made about it lmao it's like... the second she resigns herself to lifelong pain and terror, there's another portrait of her mother facing her like this. with their heads bowed, in mirrored body language of resignation and despair and sorrow. Except it's posed like Marcille is still looking at her mother but her mother is looking away.

It took me a second to realize, but I think that it's a visual metaphor for the fact that Marcille's mother was the only long-lived role model she had-- and she failed to model healthy grief for her daughter. I don't say this as an accusation or to disparage her as a character, but just as a matter of fact. In her, Marcille was seeing herself older and losing a short-lived spouse or loved one of her own, and all she saw was hopelessness.

But her mother didn't mean to instill hopelessness and terror in her. She wasn't really thinking of how it would truly affect Marcille at all (at least, that's how I'm interpreting her looking down and away from Marcille in the metaphor), she was just sad. And she, in her own way, was trying to protect her daughter and help her prepare for future losses.

What she meant was "loss is inevitable, and you have to learn how to be in pain but live on anyway." What Marcille heard was "loss is inevitable, and you will be scared and hurt for the rest of your life."

Again. Marcille's mother doesn't feature explicitly in the story the way her father does -- but in so many ways, her shadow, her silhouette, her reflection is always hanging over Marcille.

All that to say... headcanon-wise (everything from here on is 100% without evidence lmao), I'd like to think that she matured and realized that she failed Marcille. I imagine her being regretful about it, wanting a chance to fix it but never finding a way to insert herself back into Marcille's life when Marcille is so so so busy becoming the most accomplished mage possible. I imagine her being herself again, now, so many years after her loss and after remarrying -- but with her cheerfulness tempered with a lot more wisdom and the pain of having gone through loss like that. I think the second Marcille actually tells her what happened in the dungeon, she'd want to go running to her daughter again -- if Marcille tells her the full truth instead of just being embarrassed she let things get that far. (oh, the tragedy of her wanting to be more like her mother and an accomplished adult who doesn't need to be babied... being embarrassed to actually tell her mother how much she fucked up...)

There's also the tension of her having remarried -- I know that there's at least a little bit of resentment that Marcille harbours about that, because she's childish like that at heart even if she makes an effort not to externalize it. I think that her mother would be aware of that, potentially adding to her sense of guilt and apprehension at trying to reappear/intrude on Marcille's life. I honestly don't think Marcille has met her stepfather -- or even considers him a stepfather rather than "mama's new husband" and kind of a total stranger. I think she and her mother actively don't talk about it in their correspondence, like an elephant in the room.

but, ultimately, I think her mother is on her side no matter what. Ancient magic? Dark necromancy? Sure, she'll feel guilty and like she was partially responsible for setting Marcille down such a painful path, but she wouldn't care. that's her daughter!! she would've moved back west and been petitioning for her at the court, buying a house right next to the Canaries barracks and visiting her every day that she wasn't on a mission. And if her husband had opinions on Marcille becoming a "dark arts user," he either gets over it or it's divorce with him. Yes, she might have had her optimism completely humbled by losing Donato like that -- but she's still headstrong and self-assured and she doesn't care what people think of her. It's her way or the highway and she's always going to be in Marcille's corner.

(She also needs a name lol. I went with Juno, just to be cute about "Marcille"s closest real life equivalent being Marcella, which is the female version of Marcellus, which in turn is a diminutive of Marcus, which was derived from Mars. Absolutely in love with Marcille potentially being named after Ares/Mars the fucking god of war btw)

In light of the Graham Gore book (The Ministry of Time) coming out on May 7th and a show adaption already greenlit, I think it's important to talk about the fact its about the historical Gore, not the AMC character. As far as I know, the author first was a Terror fan and then picked interest by seeing historical Gore's portrait, and then got into the historical information (and you probably couldn't write a whole book about the AMC character anyway, considering the little screentime). So, it's not a Terror fanfiction, but a book involving RP fanfiction.

Anyway, what I wanna talk about is that The Terror fandom, me included, has a problem with mixing the historical and fictional sides. The Terror is a work of fiction, the characters' personalities and their actions are fictional.

Especially Fitzjames, who is as fictional as Hickey is. He's mostly based on Battersby's "research", which we now know includes a lot of bullshit (the Barrow scandal apparently did not happen, for example). @jamesfitzjamesdotcom can probably tell you more about that than I can.

So, the thing is, if you wanted to write a book about Fitzjames, about Francis, Fitzier, Goodsir or basically any other character with screentime, and then say it's about the historical persons, you could not do it if your interest and knowledge is majorly based on or fueled by The Terror.

You couldn't mix AMC James and historical James together, because they are two different people. If you write about Fitzier with their characterisations from the show, you couldn't call it historical Fitzier; it'd be like writing Destiel and then saying it's Drarry. Or some other ship that has barely any canon content, because if you look at historical Fitzier, there's no Fitzier. Like writing about Bungo Stray Dogs and then saying its about historical Ozamu Dazai just 'cause they use his name and some character traits.

It's one thing to take historical lore and use it for The Terror fanfiction or headcanons. But you can't look at historical Fitzjames or other crew members and extend their AMC/Simmons counterparts onto them.

The Terror is an amazing show in itself, but it's not a biopic or historical show like HBO War is, for example. It's not a show that tries to represent the real people as they were, the expedition as it was, it's a work of fiction inspired by real events, subjectively interpreted and then fictionalised. So if you're interested in the real events, you can't just watch or read The Terror, because it doesn't represent them. It doesn't represent the people.

This fandom, again me included, needs to be more conscious of that when talking about the historical people and events.

Especially now, because the Gore book will most likely attract more people to watch/read The Terror and get into the Franklin Expedition. So it's important that when they get here, there's a clear, or at least clearer, cut between The Terror and the real history.

For example, not tagging historical FE content with "The Terror/The Terror AMC/terrorposting" (since the historical Terror would be HMS Terror it'd be a difference) is a start. Tagging the show/book content clearly with "Simmons/AMC/2018" somewhere, and not with "Franklin Expedition", is another way.

He did want to be in a place where he could experience new things with you, or just things in general. He wants to make memories with you more than anything! You keep that in mind while searching and booking.

• You two settled on Canouan, in the Grenadines. The place is perfect for you two! There are sporting locations such as golf, tennis, deep sea fishing, and sailing. It also has some wonderful hotels, along with many beaches and uninhabited islands. There are many opportunities for both fun and romance, just how Alex likes it!

• Alex was incredibly excited, waking up bright and early to watch the sunset with you and start your day. He loved showering his new spouse with affection, pressing kisses against your temple and neck whenever he got the chance. • Elliott was enthralled with the entire experience. Mornings were filled with fun and adventure, music and art; and afternoons were candlelit dinners, taking in the atmosphere with his love. He was heavy on the words of affirmation, they were pouring out of his mouth with every new situation. He was inspired by you, and this experience. It's the best honeymoon he could've ever asked for!

• Harvey is a big softie, and he really just wants a romantic vacation with his lover. He doesn't really mind the location, as long as there are tons of intimate spots and opportunities for lovely moments with you. He is more focused on the fact that you are his spouse than the vacation itself. He is a man in love.

• You two settle on Paris, France. Of course, it's fucking Paris. The city of love! This place has a ton of lovely places to spend time with each other, and many amazing French restaurants to have dinner at. Harvey has his camera at the ready at any beautiful view, whether that be the landmarks, or you. There are a ton of beautiful candids on his camera now, thanks to this trip.

• Harvey was set on showing his love and affection for you. That was his number one goal. He was a gentleman the whole time, planning some fun things to do while there so you didn't have to do all of the work! He loved the beautiful views and sights that Paris brought, but there was nothing better than being with you.

• Sam was ready to leave the entire honeymoon process up to you. He didn't mind, he would go wherever with you! He was truly a go-with-the-flow type of person, and he would go with whatever flow you were feeling. However, he had one condition. The place had to have some “banger food.” So, you had a pretty nice place in mind.

• You settled on Kyoto, Japan. Both of you were over-the-moon excited! This place had a lot to offer. The food was great, there were a lot of exciting things to do and experience together, and there were some romantic places as well! It really had everything you both needed and expected out of a honeymoon: a place where you could both let your inner child free and relax with your partner. The best of both worlds!

• Sam was essentially a kid in a candy store the whole honeymoon. He was so giddy with excitement, and he was practically begging to stay there forever! Zooming around arcades and shops, watching the beautiful cherry blossoms fall from the sky with your love ... everything was perfect. Nothing could be better than this.

• Sebastian is definitely a picky person, so he had a lot of thoughts when discussing the honeymoon. Beaches were the typical route, and they weren't exactly Sebastian's style. He was much more fond of the cold, or the neutral, and he made that pretty clear. He also didn't like very crowded areas, so that was another thing to consider. You didn't mind his pickiness, though. You wanted this to be perfect for both you and him.

• You two eventually landed on The Blue Lagoon, Iceland. Nice and cold, just like Sebastian wanted. It had a lot more to offer than just that, though. It has some very cool geologic and volcanic features! You two definitely bonded over the fantastic natural features that the Earth provided. You two were also in for a treat, as the Aurora Borealis was in the sky while you were staying there. It was a beautiful sight to see with your new husband.

• Sebastian enjoyed the honeymoon a ton! There was a lot of stuff that was right up his alley, which he was pleasantly surprised with. He did love spending time with you most of all, though. He enjoyed being far away from his small, cramped room in his mother's basement. He had a feeling his new life would be a lot more interesting, and this was just the beginning.

• Shane didn't really mind where you two went on your honeymoon. He would make an occasional comment or two, wanting to be consulted, but you made the final decision. He did state that he wanted to be away from alcohol as much as possible, and really didn't care for the crowds. He wasn't a huge fan, but if he needed to, he would manage for you.

• You eventually settled on Praiono, Italy. It was a gorgeous place that had relaxation written all over it. The beautiful scenery, the pool clubs, the lavish hotels ... it was stunning. Shane had to admit, you did really well with your pick. He probably would've picked this place too, and he really appreciated that you took his thoughts into consideration.

• Shane was just excited to relax with you. You were so comfortable together, enjoying each other's company more than anything. Shane didn't want to do much, just enjoy not being in the valley. All the stresses of daily life melted away, with you. Shane could really get used to this.

ohhh actually speculation/analysis is something I write a lot of! I hail from a very literary fandom and these sorts of prompts are some of my favorites to do!

I could def give my thoughts, just based on what we already know + my own headcanons

➼Deuce: Deuce, to me, is a hands-on learner type. I could see him getting really into mechanics, but... my heart says house husband. tells his kids bedtime stories about Cauldron Deuce (with... um, better morals, we'll say)

➼Ace: professional moocher hmmm Ace is kind of a wild card (pun) to me. I can see his life going in a lot of different directions depending on how the story goes

➼Riddle: definitely something prestigious. we know his parents are doctors, it's likely he'd feel pressured to follow in their footsteps, with other high-paying professions close behind (such as lawyer)

➼Cater: trophy husband(/influencer)

➼Trey: takes on the family bakery. I can see him getting settled down relatively fast compared to everyone else. he just needs a spouse whose as weird as he is

➼Leona: professional moocher (for real this time). In an ideal world he would get fed up with his family and move out, either to another palace they own (you know how it is with royalty and their real estate) or to his own place. but that freedom might get him to really apply himself to something he cares about, independent of his family. would get married if the opportunity presented itself, would NOT have kids

➼Ruggie: Leona's little buddy. Leona assured him a job after school, sooo probably not much different from what he's doing already, but paid. sends fat checks home to his grandma every month

➼Jack: whatever it is, he's committed to it. I can't see him working a dead-end job with no hopes of improving himself, so nothing too academic. the obvious answer is athletics... but he could just as likely become a sculptor. just something that he can apply himself to and continue improving in

➼Azul: businessman. he just has a thing for it. he's running multiple restaurant chains and dabbling in retail before age thirty, and always looking for more opportunities

➼Jade: Azul definitely guarantees him a job, but I think he'd be more interested in staying on land and doing field work. mycologist... or anything that really captures his interest

➼Floyd: cliché answer, he can't decide. likely bounces between working with his brother and working with Azul. may just stay within the "family business" which is implied to be. mafia?

➼Kalim: do we even know what the al-Asims do. besides be rich. well whatever it is, he's doing that. definitely gets married fast, probably has a bunch of kids already. they're just as loud and excitable as he is

➼Jamil: oh Jamil :( please please have a happy ending. I can see him really enjoying academics, especially in positions where he can publish papers and get feedback. good for his ego. may start some insane academic drama, though (nothing he can't handle)

➼Vil: actor/model. confirmed! probably waits a while to get married, he's put off his career long enough

➼Rook: the fact that he wants to go into archaeology is so cute... being an ex archeology (now religious studies) major myself I think it's just so... Rook of him to be interested in history. I would love to talk to him about the Minoans. Or the Xia dynasty. can I marry him while we're at it? he eventually settles down somewhere in the woods

➼Epel: eughhrrggg can I say farming. sorry. I'm from a family of farmers and kinda sentimental about it. the connection to the land is very real and very emotional. but he does other stuff, too

➼Idia: [cue book 6 angst]

Going On Vacation With The RE Guys Headcanons

Going on vacation with Carlos will involve a lot of activities. He doesn’t like sitting around all day, so he’ll want to try out some new things with you. The destination doesn’t matter much to him, as long as there is something fun to do.

Do you want to learn how to surf? You can do that with Carlos. You want to go bungee jumping? He’s in for that sort of thing, too. Skiing, parasailing, rock climbing; he’s willing to try all of these things. 

Are the aforementioned activities a bit too extreme for you? That is completely fine. He will happily go camping and hiking with you. And if you don’t like sleeping on a shitty mattress, he’ll opt for glamping instead. Nothing wrong with a bit of comfort, right? 

He just wants to be out and about with you. And come on, you gotta admit, sleeping under the stars is pretty damn romantic.

Feel free to suggest anything you’d like to try out on vacation, because he’ll love it when you take initiative. Bonus points if you surprise him by dragging him along to do something fun without telling him what it is beforehand. 

Leon just needs peace and quiet on vacation and will absolutely drag you away to go on a cruise with him. The further away he is from his job, the better. And as a cruise ship is always on the move, Leon feels it’ll be less likely he’ll get called into work. 

He wants to go north because he’s always wanted to see the northern lights. He thinks it will be romantic, and can’t wait to share the experience with you. You’ll probably end up somewhere in northern Europe.

On the days spent at sea, he’ll want to make the most of it. Spa days, swimming at the pools, eating at the best restaurants and checking out the onboard entertainment are a must in his opinion. If you need some time away from people, he’ll happily cuddle up and watch a nice movie with you. There will be plenty of snacks, of course.

When the cruise ship docks in the countries you pass along the way, Leon will want to do some sightseeing and take a copious amount of pictures. He won’t just take pictures of the scenery, he will be taking a lot of pictures of you, too. 

Later on, when he’s back at work, he’ll be looking at them whenever he’s not feeling great. Seeing you having a good time will always put a smile on his face.

Ethan wants a normal vacation. Nothing too crazy, nothing too hectic, nothing too special. He’s in need of feeling like a regular human being, so he’ll take you to a typical tourist destination.

Ethan loves to go for walks. It doesn’t matter where. He can walk for hours, just chatting to you about everything that crosses your minds. He’ll take the occasional picture, but his main focus is on spending time with you in a place he’s never been before. A place where nobody knows who he is, and where he’s just another tourist.

He will book the most luxurious hotel room available, because he thinks you both deserve it. He goes out of his way to surprise you with the most wonderful date nights. He puts a lot of thought into them, making sure they’ll blow your mind in the right ways, but never make you feel uncomfortable. 

Ethan will get lost on occasion. Just make sure you’re in charge of how to get places, or you may accidentally end up in a whole other country if you happen to stay near the border of one.

Luis will plan the most romantic vacation you could possibly think of. He doesn’t care much for major tourist attractions, but will instead look for the more obscure spots your destination has to offer. 

He’ll drag you through the most beautiful little towns he could find on the internet, and he’s full of facts. He knows a lot about the history of the places you’re visiting, and he loves sharing this information with you. 

Luis manages to find all the best restaurants and won’t spare any expense. You can order whatever the hell you like, and he’ll happily pay for it.

He’s not too fond of splitting the bill, so if you’re the type of person who is, prepare to argue with the man on occasion. 

While his main concern is spending time with you, he would like to visit a pub now and then. Just to have a drink together. And if you’re willing to sing karaoke with him, you’ll definitely make his day. So... just do it, okay?

Since I’ve seen the topic come up again, I thought I’d share a bit of history that might shed some light on the Graham de Vanily family’s weirdly French-sounding names! 🇫🇷

As y’all are probably aware, in 1789 we started chopping a massive amount of heads. So if you were a nobleman around that time and cared even slightly about your own neck (which is generally a thing people care about), your best bet was to book it to somewhere monarchy had not been #cancelled in a blood bath.

This forever vacation is referred to as l’Émigration, and one of the most popular destinations was, you guessed it, the UK.

So it’s totally possible that Felix and Adrien’s ancestors fled France centuries ago and made a life for themselves there, eventually mingling with the local nobility through good old ✨ arranged marriage ✨ (a tradition their family still upholds to this day!). Which would explain:

Why part of their family name sounds so French ("de Vanily")

The spelling of Emilie’s name

The accent in Félix’s name

omggg heyyy. i'm going to answer this as a series of headcanons because that's what's coming to me. also this kind of sucks!!

castiel!child headcanons (afab reader)

you were the newest angel made before chuck decided to close up shop.

you also were in complete lockdown in heaven while the other angels frolicked earth during the apocalypse.

after the fall though, you found your way to earth, wingless yet extremely curious about everything around you.

you were always seen as the "innocent" one to the eyes of the other angels, because you were the "youngest" (as if you haven't been around for a millennia like they have).

you found a younger vessel as well, your true vessel being a pretty young thing somewhere in america. at least in put you in proximity to Castiel, who you sought out first.

Cas was always the kindest to you, the least likely to snap at you. he always nurtured you, and taught you the ways of Heaven.

your brief time on earth taught you a few things: you really loved baked goods, the bus is a fantastic mode of transportation, and no one gets mad at you for petting all the dogs that walk by. you really like the ones with floppy ears.

when you eventually found Castiel, time had passed, and he was back with the Winchesters. you were curious to know who were the humans who managed to convince Castiel to basically forsake Heaven.

they proved to be much taller than most of the humans you had meant.

castiel immediately got exasperated with dean.

"well, hello," Dean smiled, shaking your hand for a little longer than necessary. "what's your name, gorgeous?"

"Dean," Castiel gritted out, shooting him a look as Sam stifled his laughter.

"i'm allowed!" Dean bit back. "she doesn't mind," he gestured towards you, looking you up and down.

you kinda of just followed castiel around after that. even if it meant being around sam and dean.

cas was excited to have you around again. he talked to you about bees (literally), and you understood why he loved humans so much. they had a lot of heart that angels often lacked.

you didn't feel so out of place with the winchesters either.

sam was always interested to understand heaven and it's history. unlike cas, you were more amicable to sharing that information.

dean was confused why angels chose hot vessels. you asked if he meant not just you, but also castiel.

he shut up after that.

i would happily continue this with more scenarios if anyone is interested. especially since this headcanon is shortlived and terrible.

⤷ firefly has the biggest crush on stelle and silver wolf has hacked into stelles social media accounts on many occasions to read her texts to astral express friends andn see if she feels the same

⤷ blade hates physical affection but will let firefly lean against his shoulder when she's tired. has a soft spot for his kids

⤷ they try to have 'family dinners' (blade refuses to call it that) at least once a week where they catch up (discuss their most recent murders and crimes)

⤷ elio hates it when people 'pspspsps' him but will make an exception for firefly

⤷ blade will not HESITATEEE to throw hands at ANYONE who dares touch firefly or silver wolf. he cares so much for them but will never openly admit it. ever. he'd rather die. wait no he wants to die. he'd rather live.

⤷ kafka misses stelle. a bit like a mother when her child is off to college. she never openly admits it but the vists the astral express a lot just because she wants to know how stelle's doing. she messages stelle quite often too even if she knows stelle despises her now

⤷ deep down it hurts her to know that stelle doesn't see her the way she used to. she tells herself to remain cool and collected around stelle but it hurts seeing how stelle has forgotten all their history together, even if it is for the better good.

⤷ firefly broke down to silver wolf the first time she saw stelle again because it hurt so much knowing stelle doesn't remember their history at all. unlike kafka, she finds it harder to compose herself

⤷ CAELUS VERSION: blade was about to commit acts of mass murder when he found out caelus was dating his ex (dan heng)

⤷ stelle's phone actually still has her location shared with the stellaron hunters, and she doesn't know it. they all have their locations shared just in case something happens and firefly occasionally checks stelle's location once in a while when she feels sad. it makes her feel better knowing stelle is still out there, somewhere.

⤷ silver wolf became even more insistent on firefly playing games with her after stelle left because stelle used to play with her, but now stelle is gone. it feels empty now, staying up late at night, tapping away silently in her own room without stelle's loud shouting and cheering.

⤷ her bedroom. her bedroom is untouched, since the day she left it has remained untouched. firefly walks inside sometimes just to find fragments of the stelle she knew, lies in her bed and cries. kafka knows what firefly is up to despite how 'sneaky' firefly thinks she is.

⤷ kafka also does the same. she sneaks into stelle's room and looks through her old stuff, books, games, trashcan collection, and more. she used to chide stelle for collecitng such odd bits and pieces but now she wants nothing more than for stelle to run up to her holding a piece of trash, exclaiming how it is a secret work of art.
