Fasting Facts:
-Water fasting cleanses the body, as the stored food (fat) is used rapidly and the body simultaneously expels built up toxins.
-If you are fasting for weight loss (um, yeah!!) and are following a juice or tea fast, a few days on just water will intensify the fast.
-Fasting can clear the skin and whiten the eyes and initiates rapid weight loss (yay!).
-Water fasting is not recommend for a first fast as toxins are released into the blood very quickly.
-Fasting makes it easy to overcome bad habits and addictions.
-Fasting allows you to have taste appreciation for clean, natural foods.
-Going on a fast can give you the motivation and the enthusiasm you need to make a fresh start! (And we all need a fresh start from time to time.)
Fasting Info:
-Distilled water is best for water fasting.
-Juice made w/fresh, organic fruits is best for juice fasting.
-Do not drink orange or tomato juice on a fast.
-You can dilute your pure juices w/water.
-Green juices made from leafy green veggies in a juicer are great for detoxifying.
-Pure veggie broths are good (with no seasons added).

More fasting tips:
-Many people experience nausea and headaches during fasting and this is often caused by caffeine withdrawal (and we all love our caffeine here) so I recommend, if possible, if you are a heavy soda or coffee drinker start tapering off about a week before the start of your fast. This should do the trick and make it a little easier and your headaches won't be so painful.
-After your fast, when you start to eat normally try very hard not to gorge. The calories you take in directly after your fast will stay with you a lot longer than those acquired when your metabolism is up. Also, you could experience pain and become very ill.
-Don't eat a big meal the night before your fast and never end your fast with heavy foods. Keep it light w/raw or lightly steamed veggies and fruits.
-Dry skin brushing helps your skin to breathe easier and can help eliminate uric acid and other poisons from your system, taking the strain off your kidneys and liver. Start at the feet and stroke your skin towards the heart. Do these before you shower.
-Epson Salt baths are soothing to sore-achy, weak muscles and also help eliminate toxins through the skin. Warm Epson Salt baths are great during fasts.
-There are many types of fasts, here is another: The milk and fruit fast: 3x a day, a glass of milk, raw fruit and water in between.
Some more tips during your fast:
-Try to get plenty of sleep. And if you can't stand your stomach growling the first few days, and are tired of downing the H20, take a nap... listen to some soothing music and drift off.
-Get a massage. If you can afford it, or have your partner or a close friend give you a good rub down or deep tissue massage. This really soothes muscles and makes you calm and sleepy. It helps when you're having trouble sleeping due to hunger during your fast. Plus, it awakens your body, pushes the blood around, etc.
-You may feel weak during your fast so if this is the case, be careful of black outs and don't exercise until you've finished the fast... Stick to stretching, light walking and deep breathing.
-If you suffer from diabetes, hypoglycemia or other similar conditions, please be very, very careful fasting. I'd say don't fast at all but if you feel you can do it safely, you may need a slice of avocado or a banana... You could also add protein powder to your juices.
-Sometimes during a fast, the person will experience back pain. If so, a cold pack will help.
-Canker sores can be healed quicker by dabbing tea tree oil or vitamin E on it.
-If you are just too tired on your water fast, go to a juice fast and if you are already juicing, drink more carrot and melon juices for energy.
Water fasts are always the hardest but fastest for weight loss and detox.
Juice fast is next best and somewhat easier, especially for first time fasters.
You'll lose pounds faster if you have a fast metabolism and slower if you have a slower metabolism. On average, fasts allow you to lose 1-2 lbs per day. Some experience more around 3-5 lbs per day. You'll lose the most and the quickest during the beginning of your fast.

He's just looks always so serene and at peace, but most importantly happy and it's something ghost can't comprehend given what they do for a living

König is not a sad person by default and he recovers pretty quickly for certain things but he always carries around a weight of guilt and self doubt that is unbearable sometimes

He always worries about ending up being some sort of psycho who has no regards towards human lives
He gets so carried away when he's on the mission and often does not realise how efficient and kind of brutal he can get
He is absolutely scared of ghost. Everytime he is in the same room with him he just gets so nervous he ends up embarrassing himself more than once

like I have anxiety and my jaw is dislocated cause ever since I was a kid I was always clenching my jaw while sleeping or unconsciously while going about my day so I just know that someone like him has the same problem
He has definitely popped his jaw and hurted his ear more than once and has ADORABLE CROOKED TEETH CAUSE I DO AND I WANT HIM TOO OKAY?
he is really good at signing but everyone thinks he's not because the few times he has tried to sing in front of someone he fucked up from being too nervous
He knows how to play piano. As matter of fact he has one at home
Prefers wine over beer or cocktails but has a weird ass liking for strong liquors
And BTW he is annoyingly hard to get drunk, this man could get down shot after shot and still be as lucid as ever

When he gets angry is not a pretty scene. He's always so jolly and easy going even if you're rude to him so is hard for him to get angry, but when he snaps this man is not playing around

He is still pretty mad about not being able to be a sniper. Specially because he's good at his job, he knows he is but no one believed in him and his abilities bc of his height and his anxiety
When he was younger everyone always used to talk over him because he had difficulty with speech due to his anxiety
He used to get so frustrated to the point of crying and since no one ever had the patience to listen to him he just used to write on notebooks all the things no one ever wanted to hear
He still does it and has like a lot of diaries filled with rants, thoughts, jokes ecc
When he was younger he used to listen to the FILTHIEST SONGS not knowing what they were about because he didn't understand English well
When he's nervous his accent slips a little bit
He writes letters to his loved ones and specially his s/o when his away from home and has the prettiest handwriting ever

honestly think kieran's death devastated hosea.
they're both constantly at camp, they must've interacted. and kieran has every reason to hate them: the way they treated the boy was proof to hosea of how far they'd fallen, how much dutch had changed and how much he missed the old dutch. but instead of hating them, kieran, terrified and meek and charmingly pathetic, frantically gets to work helping out however he can. kieran's so grateful for being allowed to stay, and seems genuinely delighted whenever an interaction in camp doesn't end in threats of violence. hosea looks at the gang and sees the pinkertons closing in on them like a noose and then there's kieran saying joining their gang was the best choice he'd ever made (as if he had a choice) and intially, hosea cannot understand it.
so when hosea notices kieran making a poultice with burdock, he's intrigued. he strikes up a conversation about herbal medicines and is oddly delighted to find kieran very intently listening as he prattles on about ginseng. then when hosea notices kieran very not discreetly eavesdropping on a conversation about fishing spots, and discovers the boy is a passionate fisherman, he immediately has to correct the injustice of kieran not having his own fishing pole. and again, kieran is just so overwhelmingly grateful for the smallest kindnesses.
over campfire conversations he learns more about kieran, not intentionally but y'know, he might happen to listen more when he notices the boy actually having the confidence to speak. hosea learns about how his parents died when he was young, and he was orphaned, and alone, fending for himself because when had the world been anything other than cruel, and when the army didn't work out it was inevitable he'd become an outlaw to survive - and hosea's heart aches a little, because how many times had he heard that story? how easily could kieran duffy have been one of the troubled youths they picked off the street in the early days of the van der linde gang and raised as their own?
perhaps accidentally reawakening that old paternal instinct he thought he'd buried, hosea very, very indirectly tries to make kieran's life a little easier. reminds him he's one of them now, he's allowed to take branwen out and go fishing whenever he wants (despite how awful arthur has generally been to him, kieran still very excitedly asks him to go with him). hosea keeps an eye out to make sure kieran's eating enough to gain back some of the weight he lost under their abuse, even going fishing himself when he notices they're running low on food. quietly makes sure there's always coffee at the scout fire, since the boy so rarely seems to come through the main hub of camp. when mary-beth mentions he can't read (though the comment seemed to make the poor boy self-conscious) hosea offers to read a horse meal pamphlet to him. kieran duffy, who is such a gentle soul it's frankly infuriating, immediately thinks to give the pamphlet to arthur because arthur would appreciate it.
the payoff for all his discrete work comes at shady belle, when hosea notices kieran sleeping inside the circle of wagons instead of with the horses. finally, finally, a sign he was starting to believe he belonged. at jack's party kieran actually relaxes enough to get drunk, still too anxious to join in with the louder celebrations, but he's talking to arthur and they're laughing: and it's nights like this that reminds hosea why he stuck with dutch so long - because they aren't just a gang, they're a curious conglomeration of a family, and in that moment they're all safe and happy
and then, days that felt like minutes later, he's kneeling beside kieran's decapitated corpse. he's the only one who kneels beside kieran's body, as dutch says to bury him near but not too near. it wasn't like sean's death, or davey's, where they were outlaws killed in the line of the lifestyles they'd chosen: missions. the poor kid had been taken, tortured and killed and they were too busy with dutch's goddamned plan to notice him missing. no one was sent looking for kieran duffy: whose life had been the tragedy any one of them could have lived if they didn't have the van der linde gang. they'd all let their guard down that night. it could have been arthur, or john, or tilly, any of the brilliant people hosea considered his children, who he had raised, and taught to read and write.
but it was kieran duffy, and he died alone. the only kindness hosea could offer was carrying his head, so it - he - was buried with the rest of his body - and vow they would start learning from their mistakes.

What a lot of people don't understand about holistic and natural medicine is that it IS rooted in science. To say that ancestral knowledge passed down is not real because it doesn't have clinical studies run on it completes disregards the systems in which medicine is made. Modern medicine and the idea of something being "proven" to help or heal is based on what is studied and tested, which makes total sense, BUT what is overlooked is that what gets studied is completely dependent on what is funded. There are so many natural remedies passed down amongst all different cultures that utilize herbs and very accessible methods of medical intervention that are commonly seen us "myths" simply because people in power who choose what gets the proper clinical trials have their own agendas for what can be turned into financial gain and to say "there's no proof or study that this herb helps with this" is missing the bulk of information about how much capitalism and classism effects what is recognized given the necessary attention and resources in the scientific community.
I don't understand how so many people can consider themselves politically radicalized and anti capitalist but then flip flop when it comes to just this topic specifically as though knowledge on herbalism and techniques used for hundreds of years that aren't given medically funded backing are somehow just empty words and ignorant. Honestly, it's pretty transparently racist as well because so much of what is overlooked or shot down tends to be cultural knowledge and heritage passed down in oppressed groups and communities who's cultures in general get dehumanized in a lot of ways socially AND systemically!
They didn't even start doing clinical trials including studies on female bodies until extremely recently in the scope of how long modern medicine has been manufactured and yet people want to roll their eyes at the idea that natural medicine has existed for the people by the people for longer than any pharmaceutical can match up against.
So maybe instead of calling anyone who doesn't fully trust these large stock market companies with public health, people should consider the history of who gets an official say in what gets the money necessary for those clinical trials to take place that make that medicine "scientifically proven".
I did not understand the weight of this topic till I had my own diagnoses with a chronic condition that 99% of the time effects women and realized how drastically biased the medical systems care is and how directionless the care is for patients depending on who they are. And I really don't care if people with the privilege of not knowing that system intimately think it's not real till it's on Web MD.

Something I've been thinking about recently is Copia being a very thoughtful gift giver. He's extremely observant and a great listener, so his gifts are usually not what anyone expected, but just what they needed. Since adjusting to life in the ministry can be very difficult, especially for ghouls, especially for band ghouls, Copia has given many personalized comfort items to newcomers.
When Phantom is new, he's obviously a very sweet and lovey ghoul, but unaccustomed to actually receiving the affection he's wanted for so long. Sometimes, being around all the ghouls at once is overwhelming for him, even though he wants so badly to fit in and be accepted by his new pack. Copia, always watching with a careful and caring eye, sees the tight set to his shoulders when he's laughing a little too late at one of Swiss's jokes, or at the way he wrings his hands and holds himself very still when Dew leans in to help him read his music. He looks happy, but also stressed and so, so tired. So, Phantom gets a gift.
The gift maybe doesn't seem like much, to the average onlooker. Perhaps even childish. It's a stuffed animal, a bat. Cartoonishly cute, it has little black embroidered eyes and felt fangs poking out of its soft, round snout. It's not huge, maybe the size of a basketball, but stretched out a bit. It has a good weight to it, stuffed with thousands of tiny beads that help hold it's shape, but also mold into curves. When he holds it, it fits comfortably into the curve of his arm and chest, making Phantom feel a little bit like he's holding a chunky, sturdy little kit.
It's almost downy soft, not fuzzy, exactly, but very plush. It has a barely-noticable "right" and "wrong" way to pet it, so that stroking down its back feels just right, but stroking against the grain tickles Phantom's palms in a sort of mesmerizing way.
The fun part is the stuffy's wings. They wrap nice and tight around its body if Phantom wants, securing with cute little star-shaped buttons. They're kind of overstuffed along the main part of the limb, though, so when unbuttoned they stay spread out like the little bat is flying. If he lays with the bat on his chest, the wings drape nicely over his shoulders. They also have little hidden pouches in them, where Phantom can tuck away little treasures, herbal sachets from Mountain, or small cloths with pack-scent on them to help him adjust when he's not feeling up to a ghoul pile.
Needless to say, Phantom carries his little bat almost everywhere with him. It sits in his guitar case during practice. It sits on his lap during mass. Sometimes, he sneaks it into someone's nest for a couple hours so when he gets it back it will smell like them. When he's tired but can't quite get to sleep, holding his bat close to his chest and nuzzling its head soothes him enough to let him drift off. When he's going somewhere new for the first time, petting its wings surrounds him with a familiar, safe smell.
A few days after getting his bat, Phantom is like a whole new ghoul! He opens up more each day, gaining confidence to be his silly, chaotic self. Many would find it hard to believe such a drastic transformation from shy, nervous new summon to goofy, loud little quint could happen in such a short period of time, but then...
Copia is very good at giving gifts.

The response on my post regarding weight gain and witchcraft has been incredible! So here’s some information on how I’ve gone about my weight gain rituals in the past. Please be aware that this is not for the uninitiated, results will vary depending on your methods. At the end of the post, I provide names of the demonic divine and herbal correspondences best suited for this working. This is thoroughly intended for you to customise to your liking!
Cross small bones (chicken leg bones will work) and bind them together tightly with the red yarn. This is your doll’s skeleton. Wrap fabric around the outside of your doll, bind with red yarn while retaining the humanoid/cross shape. This does not need to look pretty, but it must roughly resemble a person in crucifixion pose. The bones symbolise your skeletal system, the yarn symbolises your nervous system, and the fabric symbolises skin and fat. Consecrate it with a drop of your blood. Take your chosen herbal mixture and mix with melted lard, pour this over your doll. Wrap and tie more fabric to the midsection of your doll overtop of the lard and herbs to “fatten” it.
Take a piece of paper, write your name and date of birth. Then the amount of weight you intend to gain over what period of time. And the sigil of whoever you’re working under. Burn the paper in a small dish. Add a herbal oil of your choosing to the ashes and dress your candle with the mixture. Dress your candle with saliva and cum. Drip the candle on your doll, then on the areas of your body you want to gain the most weight. This will sting, but it will not hurt nor leave a burn. Close the ritual and remove the wax from yourself. Sleep with the doll beside your bed.
In the coming days, repeat the process of dripping the lard and herbs, wrapping the doll and dripping the wax over you and it until you are satisfied with the doll’s “weight gain”. Leave offerings as curtesy to the demonic force aiding you every time you repeat the cycle. Hard liquor, tobacco/cigars, blood, nice chocolate, etc. Keep the doll in a place hidden from anything or anyone that could interfere. Dispose of it at the crossroads with a good offering when you have gained your desired amount of weight.

After the War for Paradis was finished and peace had finally been accomplished in your war torn world, you felt like you were given a chance to lead the life you'd always wanted but never had. Granted, you'd made it out with your life, which made you a lot luckier than the majority of the scouts, but you'd also had to endure years of sacrifice for the sake of humanity, as had your boyfriend and captain, Levi Ackerman. You first started dating him about 5 years before the War for Paradis, and you'd only grown closer since, even with all the obstacles of being in the Scouts and Levi's almost complete lack of free time. Over the years, he'd opened up to you, confided in you as you had done with him long before. It had been you two against the world, but now you finally had the rest of your lives to dedicate to each other.
Almost as soon as the war finished, you'd surprised Levi by buying a quaint little tea shop on the edge of a forest. The tea shop had a tiny apartment on the second floor, so you could live and work there. When you'd first arrived at the building, it was obvious it had been out of use for quite some time, but you'd both got to work and soon it was unrecognisable. Plants lines the entrance and hung from the windows and ceiling of the first floor, constantly bright green and fragrant regardless of the time of year. The shelves inside and the windowsills were cluttered with small ornaments and old books. You'd polished the wooden furniture and repainted it a muted grey and white, which had definitely given the place some life. As soon as you'd opened officially, the tea shop started smelling of herbal teas and freshly made teacakes, which you displayed every day on the counter. To this day, you and Levi ran it together, with him brewing the tea and coffee and you making a variety of teacakes to go with the drinks. The place was usually pretty quiet, as only travellers would go inside for a drink. You both preferred it that way.
As the years went on, and you became Mrs Ackerman instead of Miss L/N, Levi aged like fine wine, his face opening up and his eyes starting to shine a bit more. Now that he didn't have to stick to the strict fitness regiment and meagre diet of the scouts, he'd gained some weight- his face and cheeks had grown rounder, as had his waist and abdomen. In your eyes, that, along with his more relaxed, casual demeanour, made him more adorable and loveable than ever. When you teased him, you always pinched his cheeks (when there was no one there, of course- the ex Captain of the scouts still had a reputation to uphold !) and when you were in bed together, his thighs and abdomen were the perfect place to rest your head as you cuddled. That was how you fell asleep and woke up everyday in your shared bedroom in the tiny apartment. On weekends, you'd sleep in, holding each other close and showering each other with kisses as you ate teacakes and casually flicked through a newspaper or simply talked. It's funny how you can spend your entire life by someone's side and still have things to talk about. That wasn't something you believed possible before Levi, but he'd surprised you once again. He normally wasn't the talkative type by any means, but when he was with you, he said he felt simultaneously grounded and free, so he could let down his walls.
One picturesque summer night, as you were finishing washing some dishes after the tea shop had closed, you heard Levi's voice from behind your shoulders.
"I'm going to bed. Make sure to finish quickly with those plates and join me,"
You turned around and took in the sight of him. He was wearing a loose white flannel shirt and black linen trousers, his go to for the summer. Your heart ached with love for him. You nodded with a smile and kissed his soft cheek as he walked past. He responded by wrapping an arm around your waist and giving you a gentle squeeze.
"Good night, Captain," you said jokingly, just like you used to in the first days of the relationship
"Good night, brat," he replied, catching on immediately. You felt yourself smiling wide. When he left the room, you walked across the tea shop to one of the windows and looked outside. The night sky above the forest was filled with bright stars. You made a silent wish as you looked at them, praying that you could spend the rest of your life with the only man you'd ever love in your little tea shop shaped paradise.

Deconstructing Dieter Bravo: Part 2

Now that the story is starting to dive into what is going on with our dear Dieter, I felt it was time for Part 2 of the Deconstructing Dieter Bravo series to discuss the topic of psychiatric medication.
Just to be clear, this is not a post for or against the use of such medications. I want to put that out there before we get started. It is also a very high-level overview.
Most individuals that do not have experience with mental health struggles (weather that be personally or via someone close to them) do not realize the affects that psychiatric medications can have on the patient and further complications that they can cause during treatment, which is why I feel it is important to share some of this information.
While psychiatric medications are meant to help manage symptoms, they can also make things a hell of a lot worse. In many cases, the first medication isn't the correct medication or the correct dosage. There is a lot of trial and error involved in the process because everyone's body chemistry is different. Which means the patient is often left dealing with side effects that can range from minor to severe. Figuring out the correct medication and dosage for an individual can be a long and unpleasant process, which is why many give up on the use of medication all together.
There are six main categories of mental health medication: antidepressants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, depressants, anxiolytics, and stimulants. Each category is used to treat different types of disorders. Each come with their own set of side effects, but the most common are headaches, weight gain, dizziness, dry mouth, muscle spasms and cramps, nausea, loss of sex drive, constipation, sleepiness or problems with sleep, loss of appetite, and fast heart rate.
More serious and less common side effects are always a possibility too. Especially if patients are taking certain medications after being misdiagnosed (more about that in a later post). More serious side effects include nightmares, blurred vision, depression and/or paranoia, aggressive behavior, agitation, anxiety, personality changes, concentration problems, mania, suicidal ideation, and memory damage.
To complicate things further, psychiatric medications easily interact with other substances such as headache mediations, vitamins, and herbal supplements. It is important that the patient is aware of that possibility and ensures that their doctor is aware of all consumption habits. This includes ingredients in meals and drinks. It is also highly recommended not to mix alcohol with the majority of psychiatric medications.
Given all the possible side effects it is important that patients and their families/caregivers communicate to their doctor any changes they are experiencing with their bodies, feelings, and thoughts no matter how minor to avoid any further complications that could eventually result from continued medication use. Some medications take effect immediately while others can take up to two weeks or longer. Antipsychotics can take between six weeks to three months to get into your system and become effective. Therefore, obvious side effects could be delayed which is why it is important to continue to make note of any changes.
There are many long-term effects of using these types of medications such as organ damage and disorders like tardive dyskinesia (involuntary movements of various body parts). Therefore, it is very important that the patient regularly check in with their doctor and have regular blood work done to check on things.
It's important that patients find a doctor that they trust and that truly listens to their concerns so that no minor detail is overlooked. It is also important that patients and their family/caregivers are proactive in their own care, ensuring proper follow-up and tests are performed. Otherwise, important factors could be overlooked and lead to complications down the road.
Given this brief overview of information, it is safe to say that Dieter is experiencing both the common and more severe side effects from the medication he has been taking. There have been hints throughout the entire fic that his meltdown was slowly building, though it wasn't completely obvious. Which is the hard part about these types of things. It's often not an issue until it's bad.
There are some behaviors that could be a direct result of Dieter's diagnosis, while other behaviors could have been and were most likely exacerbated by incorrect medicating. That is just something to keep in mind as we work our way through the story.
In Chapter 27 we will get a formal diagnosis for Dieter and take a deeper dive into his disorder as well as how the medication he is on has created a perfect storm.
