how to make your writing be remembered forever and possibly be well loved.

(incredibly stupid and silly fanfiction line at the end of this post) I know that title is incredibly daunting but listen, its very simple. you ready?

MAKE STRONG CHARACTERS

"but kat! surely its not that simple! " nononono listen. bear with me. I want you to think of your favorite thing. Now ask: what do you remember the most about the thing you love? I will go first:

I love team fortress 2. and guess what: this game has been around since 2007, and was in development hell since before I was even born. The game has been around for 16 fucking years. And guess what? in the strong year of 2023 team fortress 2 Is STILL getting memed about. and do you want to know the crazy part? the character designs to the naked eye are not special at all. ok sure from a designer standpoint, these are very well designed characters made so that you can easily tell who they are based on their silhouette. but from the average joe.... tf2 is iconic but overall it looks ok. it doesn't seem special to a stranger to tf2. look at this completely random and arbitrary example of a game in the same genre:

I don't know shit about the characters in overwatch. Yeah i have a BASIC idea on what their personality is like based on voice lines and some videos i guess... but in-game they just exist. these characters are brightly colored, they have beautiful unique designs, hell they have even more diversity such as robots and people from other cultures! but i don't remember shit about these characters. Maybe I remember the ice lady and tracer, but nothing else. and yeah part of overwatch struggling right now is incompetant development, BUT: The characters in team fortress 2 are SO remember-able because the characters have such a vibrant personality. I am an orange box owner, its been a decade and a half and I am still remembering this game and enjoying art about it.

"but kat! that is a comedy game! Overwatch is a very serious game! are you saying comedy is needed to make a character more noticeable?" no. though I think allowing your characters to lighten up every now and then would humanize them. Not full on goofy, just give them something that makes them likeable. and if you cant do that, you can STILL make a compelling character even though they are mostly seriousness. I have an even more awfully thought out example:

kung fu panda is a masterclass in making a serious comedic movie somehow work. Master Oogway.... he isn't a comedic character at all. Yeah we made memes about him, but ignoring that, he is a wise and resourceful person. He is at calm and has faith in this intuition. there are a lot of characters like this. What makes Oogway stand out is that he is also a little bit kooky and sassy.

this youtube clip sums up what I mean. It is a funny line, it fits the character, and It doesn't ruin the seriousness of the moment. Some of the most successful series in history have something about them that has appealed to people. In my opinion: characters with strong personality and interesting traits is always a good way to ensure your writing is successful. The second most important is the characters bouncing off of each other in terms of their chemistry with each other. There is a reason why I spent years playing the first Destiny game and all of the DLC, but I remember fuck all about the characters. I think I maybe remember the bootleg star lord robot guy.

A writing exercise

here is an exercise to get you in the spirit of character making. step 1- get a random character from a random bit of media. In this case let me bring you master Oogway. Step 2- Get a completely different character from a completely unrelated series. I am going to give you Scout from team fortress 2. step 3- write a random ass thing about them interacting. Think about how the characters would react to each other and why. Think about each characters values in life and think about how they would bond and conflict with each other. Think about characters similar to the character they met in the past and how they reacted then, and if they have never interacted, make something interesting with it. Step 4- keep experimenting. Once you get into the spirit you can apply this to any new character you could want to make anyways thats it byeee- "arent you going to do that ?" do what? "make a writing thing about oogway and scout. " ........

Scout: let's go turtle you got nothing on my speed- Oogway: The one who first resorts to violence shows that he has no more arguments. Scout: that sounds like chicken talk! come on tough guy let me have it- Oogway then proceeds to make scout eat shit before vanishing in a cloud of cherry blossoms and dust from the desert. If this post isn't popular I want you to know my dignity was lost for nothing.

I do not support piracy and do not encourage buying bootlegs!!! Instead, I encourage watching from official sources. The discs were purchased for testing purposes. The discs will be destroyed!!

Okay so I have bought a bootleg version of Good Omens season 2 from a third party seller. It had a interactive menu, music in the menu, working episodes, you can choose a language or subtitles. All good.

However I decided to check from another third party seller two seasons of Our Flag Means Death.

Both seasons arrived intact, discs were cushioned inside but I forgot to do a pictures of that, but yeah they were protected exceptionally well. If I didn't know that OFMD had no official release you could easily be fooled to think you bought a legitimate copy designed for Chinese market.

The box has a rough texture, the inscriptions are embossed and smooth. The same goes for the thumbnails on the back; there is a difference in texture, they are embossed.

The discs have graphics and look real enough.

Also these discs are REGION FREE so they can be played anywhere in the world.

The video is full 1080p, audio Dolby Digital. If you are wondering if the episodes got any censorship, the answer is no, there is no censorship on any of the episodes.

What is the difference between season 1 and 2?

The difference is that season 1 has no menu. The moment you put the disc into a Blu-ray drive, there is LG Blu-ray short video played and the episodes start playing. You can then manually change the subtitles but language stays the same which is English. You can choose which episode you want to watch - 5 episodes per disc but they're just titled Chapter 1 to 5, on disc 2 it's 6 to 10.

Season 2 however has full blown interactive menu that took my breath away. Screenshots won't do it justice.

I need HBO to release Our Flag Means Death OFFICIALLY because as long as this show and other shows are not released BOOTLEGS will be available easily to buy.

They are way too easy to buy and their quality is getting better and better.

I can’t stand the knock-off dolls everyone buys from Amazon and floods BJD spaces with. They are so cheap and low quality, styled horrendously, with disgusting oversized lace and badly fitted clothes. It’s a parade of endless 👁️👄👁️ faced ghostly-white pvc dolls. Nobody changes their face-up or hair either, so every post is truly mind-numbingly identical.

There are actual good looking legit cheap alternatives like the Chinese fashion dolls Ye Luoli, which are what most of the bodies are taken from, but everyone just buys an endless flood of awful “EVA BJD” dolls. At this point it feels like people only buy them because the listings have “BJD” in the name and they think it’s some kind of entry ticket into the hobby. This feels further reinforced by so many posts and videos about them being titled “got my first BJD!”.

😭 Your entry ticket is just being interested in dolls in general, and you don’t need a shitty creaky brittle EVA bootleg that stinks of offgassing PVC! You can treat yourself better than that! There are playline fashion dolls on toy store shelves in English-speaking countries that are cheaper AND better, and newsflash, they are just as much of a “BJD” as your EVA doll (as in they aren’t. They’re all MJDs, and that’s completely fine!). Rainbow High is an obvious example of a playline doll that has taken some inspiration from the BJD world, but there’s also Mermaze Mermaidz and Pixlings for example. There are also wonderful sculpts on the cheaper end of BJDs like My0u Doll, Huajingd0ll, Doll Leaves, not to mention the current trend of BJD blind boxes by Chinese artists, which dealers like Kikag0ods and New Cl0ver Singing make very simple to buy. And; there’s the Asleep Eidol0n dolls that EVA BJD recasts from.

There’s no need to buy these shitty bootleg products when there are better options in price, quality, or both, in every conceivable way. Treat yourself better!

sorry for maybe an overly broad question, but have you answered anyone else's questions on, like, how to find good versions to watch you could direct me towards? the whole idea of trading and taking part in these well-established communities with their own etiquette and quirks and history is kind of terrifying? i don't know much about any given actor and really love the visuals so it feels like if i approached anyone personally it would be like me asking them "hello may i have your crispest mp4 please you will receive nothing in exchange by the way i don't know what's going on" which. out of the question. do i just... google it..? sorry to ramble and ask something kind of incoherent i'm just completely lost and thought you were always very helpful and patient with random fools like myself 😭

Hello! No need to feel like a fool, the trading community can feel overwhelming to get into. But also, rest assured that questions like, "What's the best bootleg to watch, regardless of time, location, or cast?" are quite common. Many people will do that for different shows, just to get a feel for it before, say, buying a ticket to see it live. For examples of previous asks I've gotten that are like that, see here and here (though I can't guarantee the links are still working, as many of those asks are years old).

For an updated answer, what I would first recommend is going to this list of full Phantom bootlegs uploaded to YouTube. A general rule of thumb if all you're looking for is good quality, is to find the most recently filmed videos, simply because as time progressed, so did camera technology. If you want my own personal recommendation and you don't care about language, then I would recommend the 2019 Copenhagen video (Act I and Act II). It's got a great cast, a great production, and was filmed and uploaded in HD. If you do want a production in English, than any of the Broadway ones from the last decade or so will do (like 2018 or 2016). The Broadway filmers were generally prolific and knew what they were doing.

I'll do my best, I'm still shaking from the experience lmao.

So the M&G took place after the concert, but the concert actually wasn't that hot so my hair wasn't messed up which is good because I was worried about that. There's also a rule in the M&G rules that if you're sweaty you gotta bring an extra shirt to change into before you meet Dave. Which i think is silly but also I hate sweat so it makes sense.

So immediately after the concert all the people with backstage passes had to meet up on the left side of the stage and the guy who is in charge rounded us all up and took us to a room in the back of the venue and checked our names off on his list. He is the same guy who was in charge last time and he actually remembered me from a year ago and told me I was 'well behaved' so I think there's probably some wild ass people who pay to meet Dave.

This M&G was completely sold out, so there were about 30 of us in the room, and we all had to sit in chairs while we waited for Dave to come out. They gave us all cups of ice water which was nice because my throat was dry from screaming so much during the show lmao. While we were waiting the guy in charge (his name is also Dave which is why I keep calling him the guy in charge instead of his name) he came out and gave us all a bunch of rules which were like: don't take any pictures or videos of Dave on your phone while he's in here, don't grab at Dave, don't shake his hand really hard, don't scream or be disruptive in any way, don't say anything crazy but you should have something to say don't just stare at him, don't ask Dave to sign any bootleg items or items not relating to Megadeth, and don't be sweaty.

Then he lined up all up around the perimeter of the room, and went and got Dave. I was in the middle of the line, so I had extra time to get nervous before I got up there. When he brought Dave into the room everyone clapped (calmly) and then he started with the first person.

When you got to the front of the line, you had to hand your purse or any bag you had to a security person to hold. Everyone's bags had to be clear anyway, and mine looked like this 💀

So the security guy took my purse, held it up in front of him, looked at me, and then tucked it under his arm lmao.

When I approached Dave I was incredibly nervous to the point where my whole body was shaking but he immediately took my hand and held it and asked me what my name was. I told him my name was Shelby (because it is) and he asked if I had a good time at the show and I said yes of course. He kept looking me right in my eyes which made me even more nervous so I kept trying to look away but then he would squeeze my hand.

I had a cassette of Peace Sells with me to be signed so I handed it to him, and then I (tearfully) told him that he saved my life, and if it wasn't for him I wouldn't be alive right now, and I wanted to say thank you, and that it's been the absolute pleasure of my life to be able to meet him. (Twice) And he looked at me and gave me a hug, and while he was hugging me he kissed me on the cheek and I said thank you again and my face was in his hair. He asked me if I was okay, and I told him I was okay now because of him, and he said he was really happy to hear that.

Then he started signing my tape but he kept looking up at me, so it got messed up so he insisted on rubbing at it with his thumb over and over to rub it off so he could sign it again but then he kept looking up at me again so it still didn't come out right and he was like apologizing and I was like no it's okay I promise I love it.

We tucked in close to get a picture taken and he put his arm around me. (I don't get the picture for 5-7 days sadly but when I do I'll post it for sure) Then after the picture he hugged me again and held my hand and told me he wants me to continue staying alive, and that he hopes to see me at the next show he has in my area, and he really means it. (He said that last time too but I don't think he remembered meeting me last year)

Then he continued to hold my hand as I was walking away I had to actually like pull my hand out of his which I didn't want to do. I wish I could have stayed there holding his hand for the rest of my life actually.

It was the happiest I've ever been and I don't think anything will ever top it. I love Dave with my whole heart, he is truly my everything. He saved me when I was at my lowest point in life and I'm so glad I was able to express to him how grateful I am. ❤️

Your LPS customs are soooo amazing!! Like genuinely so inspiring 😭 I wanna get into it but I have no idea how!!

Thank you so much!!! that really means a lot! And I'm really honored to hear I've been inspiring people with my work<3 I can provide some tips on starting the hobby if that helps! this'll be based on my own experience though of course! I can firstly say that getting into LPS customizing was pretty simple for me, because I already had most of the supplies I use for other projects, and it was only a matter of getting the bases themselves to paint on. Of course I have the LPS I grew up with but I didn't want to ruin those lol. I use those blank bootleg LPS bases they sell on amazon. You can also use authentic LPS but I'd recommend making sure you're not painting over a rare one like a big 5 or Savannah Reed first lol. A good starting point is to draft out the design you want on paper/digitally to see what kind of custom you want to make. for me I use digital templates and paint over them in my art program. Templesta on DeviantArt has some really good ones! For paint I use acrylic. Get a teeny tiny paintbrush for detail work along with a couple other sizes as well and those should be all the basic supplies you need to start! You can also get more complex with it and use chalk pastels, water color pencils and glitters too. Get creative! see what supplies you can use to take your customs to the next level. As a tip, make sure to water down your paint and do multiple thin layers. Patience is key because that paint is not gonna want to stick to the base at first. A lot of the actual painting process does come down to practice and a steady hand.

If you want to seal your customs which isn't necessary but gives them a nice finish, I recommend Liquitex high gloss varnish to seal the eyes. There are some good matte varnish sprays out there but I recommend doing your own research on those, as they can be resin based and therefore need a bit of caution and prep to handle. I personally use Mister Super Clear matte spray to seal the base of the custom, and I always spray outside with gloves and a respirator.

And though I have done sculpting I don't consider myself well versed enough to recommend supplies for clay but I've heard Green Stuff and Apoxie sculpt are good clays to use, but be sure to do your own research on those as well.

The monster high doll customization community is a good place to look for material research! A lot of the process of the face-up is pretty similar to painting LPS. That's actually what got me into customizing in the first place; I just watched a bunch of Dollightful, Enchanterium, and Moonlight Jewel's videos and said to myself "Wait a minute, I could do this with LPS!" I also of course recommend watching other LPS customizer's videos to see the process of how they make their customs, and show them some support as well! Pumpkinscustoms Is a really big inspiration for me and HelloStudios, Mr. Crazy Ray and LPSCobalt have really good videos on making customs.

And once again, if you don't wanna dive right in you can just draw them, whether using a template or not to see if you like the process and the design! You can even make a bunch of designs digitally and once you feel ready to tackle a real custom, start there! ahaha I didn't know I'd be writing a whole-ass Essay but I hope all this helps!! In your opinion are there other fate games worth playing if I liked the original VN and Samurai Remnant?

That's a bit of a tough question.

Fate/Extra is pretty good... Storywise. Its gameplay is the single most godawful turn based combat ever conceived in the history of RPGs, holy shit it's excruciating. If you can play it on a PSP emulator with a guide to all enemy attack patterns open on your phone and with your emulator abusing save states (you WILL need to do this), then I'd recommend it! If not... Maybe not.

Fate/Extella is pretty good... Well no it's not but the Altera route specifically is pretty good! Gameplay wise it is a significantly worse musou than Samurai Remnant, though with way more characters and multiple viewpoints.

Something you should definitely read if you loved Fate/Stay Night is its sequel, Fate/Hollow Ataraxia. It's another visual novel instead of a video game so there's nothing to talk about with regards to gameplay (unless you like Hanafuda and a bootleg arcade game called Illya's Castle), but it's an excellent VN and a great place to see the cast of FSN interact with each other outside the big murder game.

LACKADAISY Pilot Short Review & Thoughts: INDIE Animation Greatness.

Okay, so I've just recently gotten finished watching the latest new indie animated pilot short: Lackadaisy. Honestly, I truly and seriously loved this 27-minute long film of bootlegging kitties' adventure! Now for those who are super new to this short and overall story of the Lackadaisy world, the short takes place in 1920s America specifically in St Louis Missouri during the prohibition era when all things alcoholic were OutLaw and where most of the characters consist of anthropomorphic cat people in this story.

The title comes from the name of the café also covered as an underground speakeasy "The little Daisy Café " or for very special Partons and guests that want to get their illegal drink on known as the Lackadaisy speakeasy. All in all, the business hasn't been like it used to be for the little once glamorous speakeasy, leaving our main cat trio of trouble of the short to dig up some much-needed booze. We got the highly chaotic also artistic wild spirit, wacky, smart but slightly dimwitted sweet grinning nut Rocky Rickaby. His baby-faced sweet and super adorable well mannered but deeply repressed rage Trigger happy cousin Calvin "Freckle" McMurray ,and last but not least little miss firecracker and sweetie full of spunk Ivy Peppers.

On the revival competitor side that is Marigold. We got our Cajuns sensations siblings danger duo the Savoy: Serafine and Nicodeme, And last Mr. Tuxedo always serious catman and professional "cleaner" extraordinaire Mordecai Heller who has some past history with the Lackadaisy staff & it past owner. Now a little details on what and why I enjoyed this film.

The Animation: Lackadaisy overall animation is fantastical amazing, like UGH from the impressive shading and lighting within the backgrounds from the way the characters eyes are super luminescence in the dark and really gives that feline aspect. To the intricate little details such as the characters very realistic cat ear twitching and other behavioral cat traits like the tail movements and fizzing of the fur when scared or startle, some criticism I've seen in the Live Chat in regards to the left in sketch/guidelines within the characters is that it's distracting. But personal for me I liked the added in sketch linework, it deeply reminded me of super old school classic Disney animation or seeing old traditional animationing videos on how they did things back in the day.

The Voice acting: I swear the voice casting in this was excellent and very on point. Each of the voice actors really fit so well into each of their characters, from Michael Kovach great voice work as Rocky who you can tell was really enjoying himself, to Channel Awesome Malcolm Ray as Nico and Benni Latham as Serafine and ProZD also known as SungWon Cho very nice and fantastic voice work as Mordecai and Belsheber Rusape as Freckle and Ashe Wagner as Mitzi, Lisa Reimold as Ivy. Just overall real good sounding Voice work.

The Story: Now when it comes to overall story, I liked how it was basically more of a standalone type of storytelling in its own kind of separate reality then what's currently going on in the comic thus far into it. I can maybe see others who've been following the webcomic for far longer might dislike certain changes in the pilot that differ a bit from the comic, but I can get why they went with it this way so it probably would be easier for newcomers to jump into it. While certain parts did felt a bit underwhelming & might not be super perfect, I still enjoyed the energy and pacing of this short. I felt they did a really good job as a pilot showcasing the premise /concept and some of the characteristics of the main cast, although not all of them...but I felt it did a nice enough job of giving you a taste of these characters and making you want more of them & find out what's their story is. Either way love how the pilot plot was this mini but disastrous bootlegging adventure of Rocky, Ivy and Freckle getting into trouble barely escaping with their lives all for some nasty tasting booze.

Final Thoughts: While I might not have been following this project or webcomic since early DeviantArt or back during the mid-2000s to 2010s ( even though I wished I got into it much earlier) as long as others have. But even as a somewhat new fan of this indie piece of work and incredible artsy, I truly really come to love Lackadaisy so much and I deeply hope that this pilot short will paved the way for even more crime-fulled animated kitties adventures in the future.

like, i've had to report this shit before. obscure image hosting sites are a good place to look for anime women in bikinis but they also don’t have much moderation so sometimes fucking idiots will post their stash and then probably get arrested bc they’re distributing child sexual abuse material on the surface web. and d'yknow what happened? i reported the image to both the site and my countries authorities, and next i checked it was gone. literally nothing else happened.

because the thing is, cops don’t like… punish people for being witnesses to something traumatic? like, seeing child sexual abuse material is traumatic. seeing recorded images and videos of child abuse out of nowhere while on like bootleg imgur sucks! it’d be cruel and unfair, and it’d also be fucking impossible, because like. do you know how much child sexual exploitation material exists? too fucking many. the police cannot prosecute everyone who views and possesses it. there is not the budget nor the manpower. so they go after people who produce and people who distribute (which is why all the people you see arrested for it have a ton of it- sadly, people who “only” have a few images of horrific child abuse usually aren’t worth going after unless they basically turn themselves in bc it wastes time the police don’t have and stops them from going after people actively abusing children). if they can’t even catch all the actual creeps who watch child abuse content willingly, why would they go after people who saw something horrific and reported the thing who are already traumatised and sickened?
