Chapter Two - Late Night Rendezvous
The Norris' were a notorious crime family in the UK. One of many. With Norris, the head of the family, running operations with his son, Lando, they work to keep Y/N Norris, Norris' daughter protected. Life in a crime family wasn't something they wanted for her.

Y/N could barely remember her brothers friend, Carlos. She had been young when there wasn't tension with the Sainz family. Y/N remembered playing on the lawn when the Sainz family showed up. Carlos and Lando hit it off right away, becoming best friends.
But then things became tense. Y/N wasn't sure why, but things became tense between her family and the Sainz's. Lando knew, Y/N was sure of it.
Y/N still remembered the last time the Sainz were over for something business related. There had been a lot of shouting from inside of the house before they came out to their car, followed by Y/N's father.
"You fucking dare, Sainz!" He shouted.
Lando and Carlos were stood behind Norris, watching the scene unfolded.
Sainz muttered something in Spanish. "You have done this to yourself, Norris!" Sainz shouted. "Meet my demands and I will reopen our trading routes!"
Suddenly, Norris had pulled out his gun. "You're jeopardising things for several families. Do you really want to risk that?"
Fury was written on Sainz's face as he stared at Norris. "Put that gun away while you have my son behind you."
Norris didn't move.
Suddenly Sainz had his own gun out, pointing it at Y/N. Letting out a cry, Lando rushed over and picked up his sister, shielding her body with his own.
That was the last time Y/N had seen anything close to criminal work. She remembered the fear she felt, remembered crying into Lando's shoulder.
The day before Lando had set up the meeting with Carlos, Y/N felt that same level of fear. The only difference was now she was too old to cry into her brothers shoulder and he was too terrifying.
She didn't sleep well that night, laying awake and staring at her ceiling. She wanted to text her brother, to see if he was still up and wanted to keep her company. But Y/N knew exactly where Lando was. He was at the club, checking on the business before getting shitfaced.
That was how Lando dealt with his feelings. He'd call up Max, his best friend, and get too drunk to stand.
Tomorrow Y/N would begin the journey of fulfilling her mothers last wishes.
When she was a girl, she always dreamed that her mother and her father would be there. With her mother gone, she had to hope that she'd still have to dad to walk her down the Isle.
But now Y/N didn't even have that. She still had Lando, though. She still had her brother there on her wedding day.
Unable to sleep, Y/N got up from her bed, She walked through the halls of her home, walking down to the kitchen. The house had so many winding hallways and stairs; it was easy for anyone unfamiliar to get lost. But Y/N knew these hallways like the back of her hand. She could still remember a teenaged Lando holding her hand as he took her down to the kitchen for glass of milk when she couldn't sleep.
Y/N felt like that vulnerable, scared girl she once was. But she couldn't be scared little girl anymore. This was her duty.
When Y/N got down to the kitchen, the lights were on and somebody was sitting at the kitchen table. "Oh," Y/N said, startled slightly. "Can I help you?" She asked, staring at the man.
He was gorgeous, lovely, big hair, gorgeous tanned skin and the deepest brown eyes. "May I help you?" Asked Y/N as she stared at the man.
"I'm just waiting here for Lando," he answered in a thick, Spanish accent.
Y/N walked past him to get to the Fridge. "Do you work for Mr Sainz and his family?" She asked.
Carlos had a choice here, he realised. As soon as she walked into the room, Carlos knew exactly who she was. As soon as Lando had arranged the meeting, he took his time to study her. It was strange, the few memories he had of her flooding back.
Now Carlos looked at her, he couldn't take his eyes away. He knew this moment was coming, ever since the Norris family had first suggested it to his mother and father. He couldn't believe this moment had finally come.
"Yes," he answered. "Yes, I work for Mr Sainz," he said as she grabbed the milk jug from the fridge. "Are you with the Norris family?"
Y/N took a moment to nod her head. If she said she wasn't with the Norris family, how could she ever explain behind here? But she didn't elaborate beyond that. For her entire life she had been well, protected. People had asked before if she was a part of the Norris family, and her usual response was to shake her head no and quickly leave the premises.
The man nodded.
Carlos was having an internal fight with himself. Did he reveal what he knew, or did he continue to sit and wait for Lando? If she did tell her who he was, how would she respond?
As Y/N poured the milk into the glass, the front door open. She looked towards the hall as her brother came in and locked the door behind him. "Lan?" She called, only to receive a grunt in response.
Lando stumbled his way towards the kitchen. His hair was a mess, his tie loose and he stank of booze. "Hey," he said as he leaned against the kitchen door frame. "Carlos. You're not meant to be here."
It wasn't just the stink of booze. It was the stink of booze and sex. Lando reeked of it, making Y/N recoil away from him. He'd been at the club, something their father had let him buy on his eighteenth birthday.
With dim lighting, red velvet sofas and mirrors everywhere, Lando's strip club was every bit as sleazy as anybody expected. Most of the girls there Lando had gotten from the streets, giving them a better life than the one they were living.
Of course, with a boss as handsome as he, it was hard to resist sleeping with him. Lando had turned his back office into a romp room. He had condoms in every drawer and a booze cabinet. He had paperwork spread all over the floor, from where he'd pushed it off of his desk for a quick fuck.
Lando hiccupped and swayed as he made his way to the kitchen counter. He grabbed a hold of Y/N's shoulder and tried his best to push her behind him. "Stay away from my-" he hiccupped "-sister."
"Lando," said Y/N as she walked her brother over to the table. She sat him down and rushed to fetch him a glass of water.
"Get the fuck out of my kitchen," slurred Ladno as he stared across the table to Carlos.
Y/N let out a sigh as she put the water in front of her brother. "Lando, be nice," she mumbled and took a seat beside her brother.
"No, he's right," said the man in front of her. "I should not have come early. I apologise."
He went to stand, but Lando shook his head. "You stay. We're having words," he said and cracked his knuckles. "Y/N, go to bed," he commanded.
Leaving her glass of milk where it was, Y/N was quick to leave the room. She stopped down the hallway, took a moment to listen, but then the kitchen door slammed shut.
Who was he to make Lando so mad, she wondered as she made her way back up the stairs and to her bedroom.
Carlos stared at Lando across the table. "Why the fuck are you here?" Lando spat at him. He made a gesture with his arms as he spoke, one big enough to knock over his glass of water. "Why the fuck are you here with my sister?"
"You're drunk, Lando."
Lando knew he was drunk, but he didn't give a single shit. "You're not supposed to be here until tomorrow."
"My father had another business to attend to," Carlos answered quickly.
"Well, why did you come here?"
Carlos stared at him for a moment. This wasn't the Lando he once knew. "We were friends once upon a time," he answered. "Do you remember that, Lando? Do you remember when we were children?"
"Yes Carlos. I remember being a kid. I remember our fathers pointing guns at each other."
Carlos shook his head. "No, I'm talking about when we were boys and we'd spend all day playing together. We'd chase each other around the garden while our fathers did business."
"What's your point?"
"What happened to you, Lando?"
"I grew up."

Why Jason Grace is The Most Tragic Character in the Riordanverse
*in no way is this trying to dial down Nico's own suffering, I'm just stating my case for Jason because godsdamn SOMEBODY needs to say it!*
@most-tragic-character-tournament here's propoganda i came out guns ablazing
List of why fans are saying Nico:
Lost his mother
lost years of his life
found out he was a demigod at age 10
lost sister at 10
rough relationship with his dad
closeted gay
crush is madly in love with somebody else
forced to come out
List of why Jason is more tragic:
Lost his mom to alcoholism/mental decline
Lost his ENTIRE FUCKING CHILDHOOD because Said Mom gave him up to Juno to be raised by a PACK OF WOLVES who would've EATEN HIM if he was WEAK FOR EVEN A SECOND - AS A FUCKING TWO YEAR OLD
Was a trained demigod FROM THE GET-GO (again, TWO YEARS OLD)
Because of previously stated separation, was TAKEN FROM HIS SISTER WHO LOVED HIM SO MUCH SHE RAN AWAY BECAUSE SHE COULDN'T TAKE THE GUILT AND FEAR AND RAGE THAT FILLED HER AT HIS ABSENCE
Was set up into a "perfect" relationship by Juno/Hera WHILE HAVING HIS MEMORIES TAKEN
Jason may not have had the awful forced outting Nico had to go through, but...that's not really his fault? Nobody has any control over their sexual identity, and Jason? Well. He never really got to explore it. Because that was taken from him too.
Thinks he LOST LEO VALDEZ, ONE OF HIS ACTUAL FIRST FRIENDS, WHO LIKED HIM FOR HIM AND NOT BECAUSE OF HIS STATUS
FORCED TO COMPLY TO A DEMANDING SOCIETY THAT EXALTED HIM FROM DAY 1 BECAUSE HIS DAD IS THE OH-SO-IMPORTANT JUPITER (*cough victim of nepotism cough*)
AND WHEN HE TRIES TO COMBAT THAT NEPOTISM HE KEEPS GETTING PUSHBACK UNTIL HE FALTERS
then. then his girlfriend breaks up with him - not because of any drama, or even a disagreement, but over a very valid point
their relationship didn't exactly start out very...honestly. Jason had been mind-wiped of all memories and Piper had fake ones implanted into her to make her think she liked Jason as more than a friend. sure. they had a pretty nice relationship, but when everything slowed down and they took a look at their lives?
Piper's the one who sees it first, and makes the decision. Jason is heartbroken, but understands - he even, dare I say, agrees that they should end the relationship. it was built on fake memories - you could say it was built on lies.
and now Jason has this opportunity to step back and analyze who he is and what he wants.
what he finds is depressing. everything he's had, everything's he's been up till now...
it's not him.
he never wanted to be raised by Lupa and her wolves.
he never wanted to be Jupiter's son
he never wanted to be the exalted leader Camp Jupiter praised him for
From day 1 his life was somebody else's. his first steps were under the tutelage of a wolf, not of the loving eyes of his sister
Camp Jupiter only ever saw him as the demigod to be praised and turn to above all others, even before he became praetor.
Jason's life...was never his own.
and now that he's away from all that pressure and expectation...he doesn't know who he is.
Son of Jupiter?
Champion of Juno?
Praetor of the Twelfth Legion?
Member of the Prophesized Seven?
Hero of Olympus?
no. he was never himself under these names.
he was never...Jason.
but maybe now he could start navigating his own life. without some god intervening for once. this would be good for him, and for Piper, to find their own way.
but then. then they talk to Herophile...and find out one of them will die. And Jason? Well, he's not going to let Piper be taken from the life she deserves. he may not be her boyfriend, her knight in shining armor, but he sure as HELL loves her - especially as a friend. And if there's one thing you should know about Jason? It's that he loves his friends.
so what does he do? He sacrifices himself. He duels Caligula himself, and urges Piper, Meg, and Apollo to Go, save yourselves! and -
he's stabbed. through the chest. the only thing he can do? Look to Apollo, to the blue gaze so much like his own drenched in horror, and ask; Remember. because he didn't get to live the life he wished, but maybe Apollo could - no, Apollo can, he can make the difference Jason wanted. Because he trusts Apollo.
Jason doesn't regret his sacrifice. he saved Piper from the prophecy, after all. He saved Apollo & Meg's lives too.
in fact, Jason didn't really mind dying. Because he didn't have much of a life either. And a life like that? shrug It's worth sacrificing for those who deserve theirs.
and as icing on the cake, remember who Jason's father is? The almighty, all-powerful Jupiter himself, King of the Gods?
he doesn't do a damn thing to help Jason. Not a single. Thing.
because Jupiter/Zeus doesn't care about his children. Especially his sons.
Zeus saved Thalia. But he didn't even try to save Jason.
Trying would have at least lessened the pain...
People like to claim Jason is a bland, boring character who's never suffered a minute in his life. That he's a golden retriever with no flaws.
Well.
Take a look up there and ask yourself - it that the life of a boy who knows no suffering?
Because it sure as hell don't look that way to me.
To me, it looks like Jason was a used, depressed young man who never got to choose his own path. Who's father abandoned him first to his wife's mercy, then to a cruel emperor's.
Jason Grace suffered.
and he never got to live that happy life he saw within the Fates.
Never got to get that family, those grandchildren he saw himself telling the story of the Argo II to.
Because The Fall of Jason Grace is a true, utter tragedy.

(i might do a blurb on his pov during those lost years)
YES!! i love seeing other povs!!
this takes place during 2018 christmas, june 2019 & summer 2023!
warnings: swearing! jack being immature lmao
send in more thoughts pls!!
Tumblr media
everything that kailey did, annoyed the absolute crap out of jack. luke nor quinn had ever understood why, and jack never wanted to explain why. this christmas in particular was difficult, and missing a cherished member of the hughes family. kailey had been having a difficult time in highschool thus far, her sophomore year with luke. she decided that she was gonna fly up to upstate new york, to get away and be in a different environment. and truth be told, while she was dealing with bullies at school she was also dealing with a bully at home, and could never escape them.
christmas 2018-
it was the day before christmas eve, and quinn had just flown in while kailey was flying out. he got into jims car and he could sense that something was wrong or off, "whats going on dad?" he questioned, nervous that it had to do with kailey. and he was right. "kails went to go visit my folks in upstate new york. she'll be back on the 2nd." he said and quinns eyebrows crinkled. "she's- she's having a really hard time at school and we already know that jack isn't helping. id rather ship him off if he didn't have practice." jim muttered and quinn sighed. "what is wrong with him? I've already spoken to him a lot this summer and he still isn't getting it." quinn said pulling out his phone to text kailey, "you're mom has about had it." jim said getting onto the expressway.
_
as soon as quinn walked in, he quickly went to go find jack who was with luke downstairs. "what the hell is wrong with you?!" quinn asked turning the tv off. "hey!" both younger brothers exclaimed, and quinn shook his head. "what is wrong with you jack, huh? why do you keep driving kails away!" quinn demanded but jack rolled his eyes, standing up. "no!" quinn said pushing him back on the couch, "tell me right now why our baby sister had to fucking flee because of you!" quinn exasperated, while luke stayed silent. luke knew exactly why.
jack shook his head, "do you not realize how bad it is at school? do you not realize the amount of bullying she gets, for you to only add to it here? what is supposed to be her safe place, is not!" quinn fumed and jack sighed. "if you don't say, i know luke will tell me exactly what i need to know. im giving you a chance to come clean." quinn said standing his ground. jack was silent, "what is it?!" quinn screamed one last time.
jack sighed once more, "its always about her, kailey this kailey that, when is it my turn?" he questioned and by the look on quinns face, you thought he was about to kill his brother. "seriously? you're jealous of your sister? you're jealous of somebody who doesn't play hockey, doesn't skate, plays her own sports and gets bullied? you're jealous of your sister who does whatever she can to blend in? are you stupid?" quinn said angrily. luke rolled his eyes, "he's just upset because mom and dad make sure that they are there for everything of hers. he's upset that she has more freedom, and gets the most support out of the two of us." luke butted in and jack glared at him. "you're an idiot, an absolute buffoon jack. last time i checked, you chose this. you chose to play hockey." quinn said shaking his head. "you are the reason why you guys moved here. she may be upset at that fact, but she's moved on from it. you give her so many reasons to not like you - but shes a better person because she still wants to do right by you. she wants to prove to you that she can be a good sister. do you not realize how much shit she puts up with from you, because she wants you to be her friend at the end of the day? and don't deny it, but i heard about the 'she's literally just a roommate' comment to the boys." quinn finished, before looking at luke. "i expect more from you luke, i expect you to stand up more to this idiot." he finished before walking upstairs to find his mom. he had a plane to catch to new york.
june 2019- nhl draft.
kailey wanted to be anywhere but here. yet, her parents and quinn had convinced her to come to vancouver with the family. kailey would do everything in her power, to not stand out because she couldn't step out of line or else jack would throw a fit. it had been hard the past few months, but she kept assuring herself that she wouldn't have to put up with him for much longer. ellen pulled her daughter into a hug the morning of the draft, as kailey began to sob. kailey had been experiencing anxiety attacks for a while at that point and only her and luke knew about them. this morning she woke up in a panic, as soon as the alarm went off. she called her mom in a panic, from the next room door and she quickly rushed over. "i - i cant do it, i cant i wont i wont." she sobbed into her mom's chest. ellen rubbed her hand over her daughter's back, holding on as tightly as she could. but she knew that if she didn't give jack the attention is so craved, she'd also never hear the end of that. "i cant mom, i cant!" she exasperated, pulling away and sitting down on the bed. ellen sat down across from her on the extra bed, waiting for her daughter to say something. "im sorry, i cant do it. i cant support somebody that tears me down every chance he gets. i literally breathe and he finds an issue with it. im over it, im not making my self physically sick anymore." she said beginning to cry again. ellen and jim could never say or do enough to get him to stop, and none of the boys would say why exactly he had done what he'd done. they'd had it with him, taking away things and grounding him but none of it did a damn thing.
ellen had a sneaky suspicion of what it was, but would not hear the truth for awhile longer.
the family had just finished getting ready and were in jack's suite, filming as well. kailey on the other hand was in her bathroom, sitting on the tile floor puking her guts out. she had made herself so physically ill the whole day, and this was the only way for her body to dismiss it. quinn knocked on the door with luke before walking in, and realized that the room was empty. luke knocked on the door, and he quickly whipped it open when he heard gagging. "oh my god!" he said kneeling down in front of her, pulling her hair back as she puked. she sat back against the bath tub and the boys took in how hollow her eyes were. her skin pale, and exhaustion plagued her features. "whats going on?" luke asked pulling her against his chest. she shrugged, as quinn texted their mom. her eyes began to refill with tears, as luke pulled her in as close as possible. "i cant go. i wont allow myself to." she whispered for only luke to hear. "he doesn't deserve my support, anymore. i cant support somebody who doesn't love me or even like me." she said louder and quinn picked it up. he left the bathroom and room, and headed over to the suit that his parents and jack were in. as soon as he walked in jack smirked, "wheres the drama queen?" he mused, making sure his tie looked good. "she's sick." was all quinn said leaning against the wall next to ellen. ellen looked over at him, and she could tell what she was exactly sick with. "sick? i doubt that. she just needs the attention on her." jack said cockily, and quinn could kill him right there he thought. or, one chance to take a swing at him. "lukes with her?" ellen questioned, and quinn nodded. ellen walked out of the suite and walked over towards kaileys.
luke wiped kaileys tears, and smoothed down her wavy hair with his other hand. she had finally reached the end of her effort, she didn't have it in her to support the brother who always thought of her as less than. her personal bully had won, and was getting rewarded for it that day.
spring 2023- may
quinn looked over at jack, who was busy typing away on his phone. quinn had just gotten back from brunch with kailey in detroit, and he was relieved to see how kailey was doing after her sophomore year of college. she had just gotten back from study abroad and had absolutely adored her time there. she had also spoken about how she was thinking about doing a semester at sea but wasn't exactly thrilled about the cost. but quinn wouldn't hear it, he was gonna make his baby sister as happy as he could, and make up for the lost years.
"listen, youre gonna help me do something for kails." quinn announced, without giving jack a choice. jack looked up from his phone, and gave him a 'wtf' look. "yeah right." jack said, returning to his phone. "no! you're gonna do this with me asshole. you are gonna make up for the lost years. you are gonna do right by kails, and you're gonna do this with me. she deserves to be happy, you didn't see how happy she was today. i haven't seen that big of a smile since we lived in canada man. i haven't see her so content. and you are not gonna fuck this up." quinn explained, and jack set his phone down while sitting up.
"why would i help her? last time i checked she doesn't speak to me or support me." he said like it was obvious. quinn rolled his eyes, "if you weren't so thick in the skull you'd realize just how much she supports you and how much she wants you to be happy. y'know she keeps up with all your stats, and watched games with luke this season. she asks me and luke all the time how you're doing, and whats going on with your life. maybe if you'd give her the time of day, she'd open up to you and she'd show you how much she loves you. these past three years away from you has given her perspective and grace, and you don't deserve any grace. but that's who she is, always looking for the benefit of the doubt and ever the optimistic person." quinn paused, "you're gonna be a nice brother and play the part, and you're gonna do this with me." quinn said not taking no for an answer. "she has no idea that were doing this, so don't give me the "shes gonna expect more of this." but you know deep down that she isn't that person. mom and dad didn't raise her to be that way, so wipe that thought." quinn said with intuition, knowing what was going on in jack's mind.
jack sighed, "what is it for?" and quinn smiled. "semester at sea. she wants to go to europe and asia, for the spring semester. we still have time to pay for it. she got accepted but was gonna decline when she saw the final amount after scholarships and financial aid, etc." quinn said pulling up the email he got from ellen. after he left brunch, he headed over to his parent's house to talk to them. they were more than elated that quinn wanted to do this for her because let's be honest. she deserves the absolute world.
_
a week later.
"quinn?" kailey called out after stepping into her parents house. she had received a text from quinn if she could meet her there, that afternoon. what she did not expect, was to see jack there with quinn. they two were in the living room, hanging out with everybody. "hey sweetie, come here!" ellen said patting the spot next to her. kailey eyed jack, as she walked over to the couch. he hadn't seen her in three years almost, and she had changed. changed for the better of course. "yes?" she questioned as the family looked at quinn and jack with smiles. "we wanted to do something for you, kails." quinn began. "think of it as a token of our brotherly love." jack said and quinn elbowed him, "you're in on this?" she questioned jack. jack swallowed hard and nodded, "umm." she said not sure how to respond. "here." quinn said standing up and handing her the envelope. it was a confirmation slip for the semester at sea and a flight to europe for docking. she took the envelope, and opened it up slowly. she saw the ticket before the confirmation slip, "oh my god? oh my god!" she said standing up and freaking out. her eyes filled with tears of gratitude, and hugged quinn. "thankyou thankyou thankyou." she said into quinns chest, and the family only laughed in response. "oh my god, i could cry." she said pulling back and looking up at her brother. "don't cry kails, it isn't necessary." he said and she shook her head. "ill repay you guys i promise! it might take awhile after graduation, but ill get there!" she said looking between jack and quinn, but they shook their head. "no! you arent repaying us a dime. we want to do it for you, we have the ability to so you don't need to worry." jack finally spoke up. worry was her middle name when it came to jackson.
"dont worry blondie, you deserve the opportunity to go, so you're going." quinn added and kailey frowned. "alright." she said softly before luke stood up and wrapped his arms around his sister. "you're gonna have to text me every day, send me all the pictures in the world. im gonna have huge fomo." luke mused and quinn second that. "come here." quinn said wrapping his arms around the other side of the girl, and she felt the weight of them. "god ii swear to god if you make me fall over." she said as the two boys laughed. quinn waved jack over, and jack fought with himself. he didn't know what to do. "get over here princess." kailey announced, and jack sighed standing up.
ellen snapped a quick picture of the four's group hug. ellen and jim looked at one another thinking the same thing, they hoped that this was the beginning of a new chapter between kailey and jack. and hoped that jack wouldn't screw it up.

Twin Talk
Hey guys! Sorry it’s been a while since I wrote a fanfic. Been busy with life. I actually do like Blitzo’s sister Barbie Wire. I actually hope we get to see more of her soon.
This story is about Barbie meeting my OC Liz.
So relax and enjoy the story!
Barbie - “Satan fucking damn it! Why the fuck Blitzo had to come in and ruined my fucking life?!”
After the camp site incident, Barbie now lost her supplier. When she told her boss what happened, he actually decided not to fire her. The reason? Because he didn’t wanna bother looking for another employee that can get weeks. While Barbie is grateful she didn’t get fired, she now has to deliver meds in Sloth. Which sucks because sometimes the customers are rude as hell, too lazy to remember what they order, and don’t give enough tips.
Today Barbie just had to deliver meds to the St. An hospital. Barbie has the bag of meds in her bag and was waiting impatiently for the elevator to open. The elevator ding and opened. Barbie checked the bag and it said “To Liz M. Room 345”.
Barbie - *pissed* “Can’t believe I’m fucking stuck delivery med to some snot nose little brat. She has fucking parents, why can’t they fucking give her meds?!”
The elevator ding and it left Barbie at the floor she was supposed to be at. Barbie left the elevator and was surprised how the hallway actually looked more fancier. It had golden apple design taperary, statues of Lucifer, and his logo.
Barbie - *confused* “What the fuck? Why the hell is the kid on this fancy ass floor? Is this the floor I’m suppose to be on?”
Barbie looked at the bag twice and noticed the note was a little smidge, but it clearly said: VIP. Which everybody knows it means Very Important Person. Wanting to finish the job just to get over it, Barbie just walked down the hall and saw room 345.
Barbie opened the door and saw Liz resting in a hospital bed. Looking tired and exhausted. Barbie's eyes also widen in shock because she recognizes the red cheeks and skin.
Barbie - *shocked* “Holy shit! Are you Lucifer’s kid?”
Liz - “Huh? No. Lucifer is my Uncle.”
Barbie - “Huh. Never did I think I would see royal blue blood in a dump like this.”
Liz - “Well I needed my appendix out. It was either here or let it explode into little tiny pieces. And that would have ended ugly.”
Barbie - *chuckles* “Nice to see you have some sense of humor. The name Barbie Wire.”
Liz - “Barbie Wire? Were your parents drunk when they named you that?”
Barbie - *chuckles* “Most likely my father. The guy could drink 2 or 3 bottles of booze like it was water.”
Liz - “Huh. He would have been good friends with my Dad. He always likes to drink wine.”
Barbie - “My Dad was more into cheap booze shit. He called wine “fancy pissed water that royal blue blood fuckers drinks.”
Liz - *giggled* “My name is Liz.”
Barbie - “Nice to meet you. So, where is your parents' kid?”
Liz - “My dad had to go to work, and so did my mom. But they promise to come back later.”
Barbie - *a little uncomfortable* “So…You’re all alone?”
Liz - “Well not really. I mean I’ll be okay.”
Barbie was having a strange feeling inside of her. What was it? Was it sadness? Uncomfortable? Or was it feeling bad for somebody? Either way, she didn’t want Liz to be by herself. Barbie looked at her watch and see how she actually have a lot of time for herself.
Barbie - “Ya know what? I’ll give you some company.”
Liz - “Don’t you have to go back to work?”
Barbie - “Eh. Those assholes can wait. I got lot of time.”
Liz - “Yeah. I heard the people in sloths are lazy bums.”
Barbie - *chuckles* “You're telling me. The receptionist claimed she couldn’t read or write yet she still did it anyway.”
Liz - “I guess she drank for breakfast.”
Barbie - *laughs* “That’s a good one! I like people with my kind of sense of humor.”
Liz - *laughs* “Well I am part of the Carny Rangers.”
Barbie - “Carny Rangers?”
Liz - “It’s a kid scout but it's a circus theme. You have fun, earn badges, and learn some circus trick shit.”
Barbie - “Oh I actually know some circus tricks. I actually worked at a circus once.”
Liz - “That must have been a dream come true.”
Barbie - “Yeah it wasn’t bad. I mean I did the tightrope, acrobat shit, it was actually pretty fun.”
Liz - “Yeah my twin sister and I love circus stuff.”
Barbie - *confused* “Twin sister?”
Liz - “Yeah. I have a twin sister name Sonya. She was resting in the mind house.”
Sonya came out in shadow and waved at Barbie. Barbie almost fell out of the chair she was sitting on.
Barbie - *shocked* “What the fuck is that thing?!”
Liz - *annoyed* “Heh ya deaf or blind? Or both? This is my twin sister Sonya.”
Barbie - “Why the fuck is she a shadow?!”
Liz - “We are a Gemini.”
Barbie - “A Gemi-what?”
Liz - “Gemini. It is a rare gift where two twins share the same body thanks to the Gemini star.”
Barbie - “What sort of fucking gift is that? If anything you should get rid of that shit.”
Liz - *offended* “Excuse me?”
Barbie - “Twin sibling are nothing but fucking shit-heads who fuck up your life.”
Liz - “Don’t you dare talk about my sister that way!”
Barbie - “Look, I’m only giving you advice because having a sibling, especially a twin known to screw you over.”
Liz - *angry* “Look you bitch, you know nothing about my sister so there’s no way I’m gonna get rid of her!”
Barbie - *angry* “I’m just trying to help you!”
Liz - *angry* “I don’t need your fucking help you-“
Then all of a sudden, Liz felt a pain in her stomach. Barbie looks concerned for her. Even Sonya looked worried for her sister.
Barbie - “Hey kid are you okay?”
Liz - *groans in pain* “Y-Yeah.”
Sonya knows when her sister is lying thanks to the pain on Liz’s face. Sonya gently moved Liz’s hand and saw that the stitches popped and was bleeding again.
Sonya - “Oh crap! Her stitches came out!”
Barbie saw that despite being in her shadow form, Sonya grabbed a towel and gently put it on Liz’s sides. Barbie looking worried and said:
Barbie - “Hey! We need a fucking doctor in here now!”
A minute later, a doctor came in and helped and fixed the stitches. Barbie was standing in the hallway waiting to see if Liz is okay. Then 15 minutes later, the doctor left and Barbie went back inside the room. Barbie then noticed Liz still looked tired and in pain and realized she still had Liz’s meds. Barbie took some pills out of the bottle, got a cup of water and handed it to Liz.
Barbie - “Here. You need this.”
Liz - *take a deep breath* “Thanks.”
Liz took the meds and drank some water. Barbie had that strange feeling again when she saw that Liz was alone. Barbie hated having those feelings again. She took a seat next to Liz’s bed and said:
Barbie - “Sorry kid.”
Liz - “For what? You basically saved my life right now.”
Barbie - “With the help of your sister of course. I'm sorry for what I said earlier. It's just that…I had a bad experience with a twin.``
Liz - “Wait, you have a twin sister?”
Barbie - “Actually a twin brother. Blitzo.”
Liz - *eyes widen* “Holy crap! I know him, he’s a friend of mine and my sister.”
Barbie - *scoff* “You would have been better off not knowing him. Bastard ruined my life.”
Liz - “How?”
Barbie took a deep breath and began to tell Liz everything. How the fire happened on Fizz’s birthday, the firework explosion, Fizz getting badly hurt, Blitzo and Barbie mom’s death, the circus being burnt down, etc. Liz and Sonya were actually listening and was surprised how Blitzo actually had a dark past.
Barbie - “….And just when I was getting my life together, he just had to show up and fuck my life all over again!”
Liz - “Man…Sound brutal dude. But don’t you think you were hard on him too?”
Barbie - *offended* “What?! He’s the one that screwed my life!”
Liz - “So what? You honestly thought he was like “Oh! I’m gonna start a fire and hurt everybody and kill my mom! Tra lalalala!”
Barbie - “…No. But it was still his fault! He should have saved our mother!”
Liz - “Why didn’t you save her or your dad?”
Barbie - “We tried! But we couldn’t do it…”
Liz - “So you guys couldn’t do this, but Blitzo can? Does that make sense to you?”
Barbie - “Well…You know how long it took for me to finally get clean and get a job?!”
Liz - “Come on dude that was your choice to do those drugs. He didn’t give them to you or force you to take them. Besides, to me it sounds like the fire was just an accident. Have you ever even ask him how he felt about it?”
Those words hit Barbie like a ton of bricks: she was so wrapped up in her pain and feelings, she never even bothered to ask her own brother about the accident. But that still didn’t change that he was the reason their circus and home burnt down.
Liz - “Beside, put yourself in his shoes…Well, boots actually: if he was the one in rehab and left and you tried to reach out to him, but Blitzo coldly turned you away. Wouldn’t you feel hurt that your own twin is turning you away?”
Barbie stood in silence. For a kid, Liz is rather wise. Barbie just crossed her arms and looked down on the floor. It’s like she wants to admit that Liz was right, but at the same time, Barbie is still angry and hurt by what her brother did.
Liz - “One more thing. Siblings aren’t perfect. I mean my twin sister Sonya maybe an annoying nerd *Sonya give her a disapprove look* but I love her. I wouldn’t trade her for the world. Just because there are some bad times, doesn’t mean there’s no good ones. I mean Blitzo really does care about you. If he didn’t, he wouldn’t have tried to find you.”
Barbie’s eyes widened. She never thought of it like that. Blitzo was finding her because that’s her twin brother. Her other half. He cared about her unlike their drunk goat of a father who didn’t even bother to visit. Maybe deep down she was just blaming Blitzo to cover up her own shame and guilt for not saving their mother and getting hooked on drugs.
Barbie - *doubtful* “What if…It’s too late to make up?”
Liz - “It’s never too late. Just because some years past, doesn’t mean it had to stop. You can still be in each other life for as young as you lived.”
Barbie - *smiles* “Thanks for the advice kid. Sorry for acting like a bitch.”
Liz - “Eh. I met bigger bitches then you. I mean, have you met Verosika?”
They both laugh at this. Then Barbie looked at her watch and said:
Barbie - “Hey I gotta go. *write down something on a piece of paper* here’s my number if you ever wanna talk again. But I’ll come by tomorrow.”
Liz - *smiles* “Thanks dude.”
They both wave bye to each other Barbie begins to walk out of the hospital. She looked at her phone and started to look at some old pictures. It was old pictures of her and her family spending time together. Then she saw ones of her and Blitzo as kids playing together, doing circus acts, playing pranks, etc. Barbie then had tears in her eyes and the tears fell on her phone.
She didn’t want to cry in front of Liz. But Liz’s words hit her through the heart: she turned away Blitzo, the only person who cared about her beside their mom. She wasted so much time being angry and blaming him, that she forgot about the good times she had with her brother. Deep down, she missed her brother, but felt like it was too painful to see him.
Now knowing what to do, Barbie began to go to her block page, unblocked the only person on it, and began to call. It took a few minutes and then it picked up.
Blitzo - “Hello?”
Barbie - *sighs* “Hey Blitz..”
Blitzo - “Barb?! What happened? Are you okay? Did you get on that stupid drugs again? Cause I can help get you clean-“
Barbie - *annoyed* “No shithead! I *take a deep breath and calm down* I just wanted to say…I’m sorry.”
Blitzo - “No Barb, you and Nurse Annoying Vagina Mouth was right: I should of left you annoyed when you were trying to rebuilt your life and-“
Barbie - “No, it’s not just that. I’m sorry about what happened…On Fizz’s birthday.”
Blitzo - “….What about it?”
Barbie - *sighs* “I was putting too much blame on you. It was an accident. Yeah you caused it, but at the same time didn’t do it on purpose. I guess I was just so hurt and angry that Mom was gone and I was too chicken shit to save her during the fire.”
Blitzo - “Hey don’t put this on yourself, I should have saved her.”
Barbie - “No Blitz. Dad and I could have done something but you know Dad being the drunken dickhead that he is, and me well…I could have gotten help or at least tried like you did. But I just stood there and did nothing…”
Blitzo - “Barb…”
Barbie - “Worst of all, I got on those stupid drugs and turned you away when you were trying to help me…I wasted so much time…I guess I didn’t want you to be ashamed of me because how I use to be like this great circus star now I’m a wash up loser while you starting your own company and Fizz is living a fairy tale life.”
Blitzo - “Barbie you listen to me: you’re not a washed up loser. Beside Fizz, you were a great performer. You made some
mistakes, so have I, but what is important is that you get your ass up, and keep showing dickshits that you’re still the best bitch in hell!”
Barbie - *chuckles* “You have the way with words.”
Blitzo - “Well I did learn that stuff from the internet…What made you decide to talk to me again?”
Barbie - “A kid and her twin.”
Blitzo - “Nice. Hey if you want, you can always work with me and my company. We can always use the extra help.”
Barbie - “Nah. That’s your thing. I gotta find my own. Say…You’re still offering that dinner?”
Blitzo - “Yeah?”
Barbie - “I wouldn’t mind getting free food. Especially if you’re paying.”
Blitzo - “I was thinking more about dine and dash. Or fucking the waiter so we can get free meal. But that's fine too. I’ll see you there.”
Barbie - *laughs* “Okay I’ll meet you in the city.”
Blitzo - “Fantastic. And Barb? Thanks for talking to me. Love you.”
Barbie - “Love you too ya weird bastard.”
Barbie hung up and smiled. She can’t remember the last time she smiled or feeling this happy in a long time. It actually felt good talking to Blitzo and spilling her guts on how she felt. She knows that despite the many mistakes she made in her life, she can’t let it stop her from living and moving on. Her mom would want that for her. Barbie have high hopes that her life is gonna change for the better.
All thanks to the Gemini girls.
Hope you all like it!

Somebody’s Everything
Rewrite Chapter 1
Life hated Lindsay for some damn reason since she was four, and her mother and older sister were killed. Right now she was engaged to the one and only Tony DiNozzo, but a couple days ago he found out he has daughter, that were this fight begins
“Your just leaving?” She questioned him as he packed some stuff “You can come with.” He said, he was all but pleading with her “I can’t, I'll deploy soon.” She said raising her voice, it was always one thing Tony didn’t understand her deployments “You really think I pack up and move to Paris?” She questioned him “You leave on a dime all the time.” He said back to her “I kinda have too.” She yelled at him, she was really glad Tony Sr had the kid right now “Is this it for us?” He asked in calm voice, he watched as she took off her in engagement ring, she walked over placed it in his hand, and closed his hand round it “I can’t just leave.” She whispered, tears had fallen down her face, she kissed his cheek, before grabbing her bag and leaving the apartment
As she drove back Virginia Beach, she couldn’t help but think, she wasn’t ready to take on the role as a mother yet, she still had so much fucking trama from childhood, she blinked back tears as she pulled into her house, it was small but worked a navy seal, she got the last of her affairs in order before heading to base for deployment, no one questioned where her ring was at, they all assumed she left it at home
Three Months Later
Back heading back home, no one said anything until now “So where’s the ring?” Jason asked her “I gave it back.” She shrugged, this made Brock perked up from what he was doing “I thought you two were getting married?” Jason questioned, he was confused everything seemed fine the last time he saw Tony so what the hell changed “He has a kid.” She paused “With Ziva.” The last part was quiet, Jason was completely quiet “Ziva was killed, leaving her daughter behind. Since she’s Tony's kid she got placed in his care, so he moved to Ziva's favorite place.” She said, wiping tears away, Jason was still quite and just hugged her
Once they landed, she grabbed her stuff and left base, she got back to her and was confronted with pictures of her and Tony, she took them all down, put them in her desk drawer. She heard a knock on the door and went to answer it, she saw Brock standing there “Hey.” He said smiling, she knew why he was hear, she had been more snappy at the guys all deployment “I don’t want to talk about it.” She said, she shook her head “We’re talking about it.” Brock said coming in to her house, Brock was probably the only person that could get her to talk about personal shit, besides Jason and maybe Ray
They sat on her couch “I just don't understand, this kid is like 4, and me and Tony dated after Ellie started, I feel like I took away her dad. Even if Ziva never told him, I still feel like a bad person.” She paused before she kept going “I was the same age when I lost my mom and sister and all I had was my dad and the necklace he got me and my sister," Lindsay said crying, Brock just pulled her into a hug “Lindsey.” He said looking at her “You're not a bad person.” He paused before going on “I mean look at what we do for a damn living. We go into the line of fire every time.” He said it was all true.
He could see the wheels turning in her head “What are you think Lindsey?” He questioned her, “What if he needs help?” Lindsey started rambling about the things that Tony could need help with “Lindsey, stop your over thinking this.” He said “You can’t look back at that and think of what could have been.”
“Brock, would it be bad if I called him?” She questioned, Brock shook his head and stood up, she stood up to and hugged, Brock left and Lindsey was left by herself. She called Tony and left a message mostly apologizing for how she left and saying she would switch her emergency contact back to her dad
Over the next few months Lindsey didn’t answer any calls from her dad at all, they all went unanswered. It made him worry about his daughter so much so he drove to her damn base
Lindsey was walking out of cages when her dad stopped her “Lindsey what the hell?” He questioned her calmly “Dad can we go somewhere away from people?” She questioned, she didn’t want anyone hear how bad of a daughter she had been over the past 6 months “No.” Gibbs said shaking his head “You don't answer any of my calls for three months.” He said, Lindsey wanted to lie about but she knew she couldn’t so she stayed quiet “Lindsey Shay Gibbs?” He questioned her, “Fine everything reminds me of Tony, DC, NCIS, even you remind me of him, I’m also a shit human at the moment for not answering your calls.” Her voice was raised alerting all of the Bravo team, Jason walked and saw Gibbs there “Is everything okay here special agent?” Jason questioned “Jase everything’s fine I’ll be in a minute.” She said, her talk with her dad ended and her going back to the cages, she didn’t speak to anyone at all

Nobody Special
She was a girl like any other. really she was. at least thats how she saw herself from the beginning of time. there was no better possible equation of how she would be able to see herself no matter how hard she tried to say she loved herself when she would look in the mirror every morning..
Dawn came up just like the night had come before and another day stared at her in the face with no remorse.
"Why am i forced to be here?" she said.
I did not ask to be born. Somebody just decided they wanted a baby and walla,,, here I am and for what? oh yeah that's right just to suffer.
You see Hannah had not lived an easy life and it was only getting worse as time progressed on. She was starting to believe that despite her best efforts, nothing was going to change and that she had in fact been cursed just like a christian man had told her she was when she last visited hope fellowship. Now after losing contact with matthew, all she wanted to do was go be a stripper and not give a fuck about God or about anything anymore for the rest of all of time. It didn't help that she had miscarried his baby in Febuary 2023 last year the fucking month of love.
There were not a whole lot of people on earth that understood what she had gone through. Besides matthew, there was only 2 other people that she had ever felt fully safe with in her entire life. their names were israel and collin.
Its a long story with all this but this is just the preface and my name is Israel and i am hannah's second fiance here to tell you the story of why Hannah is mentally ill.
A mixture of trauma including sexual abuse by her own father and her neighbor mr. lay since age 4, a mother who told her she worshipped the devil when she would listen to z 104.5 the edge, (the only radio station that was able to stop her from attempting suicide) and a sister who attempted to strangle her to death when she was 11 years old for wanting to listen to classical music over rock.
As far as family went, Hannah was defiinitely the black sheep and at times even felt like the spiritual goat. gotta throw in some humor with this. its the only way to write such a tragic book.
Hannah and her sister Janelle are 11 months apart. Janelle and her are very much in sync all the time and I thank God for that.
This is a story and novel about real life events that took place in the years of 1993-2024 in Hannah Renee Lesh's life. It involves black majick witches, 2 demon possessed men that she dated, one of them in which she married and lost a baby with. It also involves a story about hannah going to a portal of hell at laureate hospital when she attempted to strangle herself and hang herself over 17 times in one day after losing my baby and after recognizing she was pregnant when michael and her broke up. It involves a story about my non blood related sister molesting me and her sister helen too and how hannah was able to know it had happened and was happening because hannah is a witch and didnt know it yet.
It involves a heartbreaking story about how family and childrens killed her father and how much justice is needed in this world.
I am here because i love hannah and although she struggles with many things, i believe her story deserves to be heard.
so grab some popcorn, pop a squat and listen to a story about the only angel of a woman that ever deserved the absolute best of everything in the world and was instead served shit for breakfast.
Hi my name is Collin and i've taken over for Israel's narration because he is crying and having a panic attack.
I am the man hannah fell in love with when she was only 15. Much like Job in the bible, Hannah had absolutley everything she ever wanted and dreamed to have taken away from her. 4 babies from 4 different men, a best friend at wright christian academy that she fell in love with named Nicole. Hannah was afraid to tell her family and parents because of the brainwashed christianity they were in. Her own dad called her a hore when she lost her virginity. Imagine what he would of done if she told him she was in love with a girl and wanted to marry her. and thats just it. Nicole was and is here to forever more Hannah's female soulmate. more about that later.
Without further adue, here is Hannah's story of overcoming adversity, being in the eye of the storm of black majick witchcraft for over 8 years and how she rose above and was resilient and perservered through it all and to this day is still alive fighting for recovery and healing. God bless anyone who reads this book. May it wake up the world to the trials we face reminding us we were never meant to walk alone.

i think i clenched my teeth while i was sleeping .my jaw hurts.
what did i dream about..?  1. flat area doom cult 2. i was teleported to another country & some lady is trying to sell me a monster energy subscription but i’m literally leaving & it won’t apply once i’m out of the country
there was a LARGE open & flat area between some incredibly high cliffs with randomly generated ruins & like purple 8 way symmetrical square symbols on flat areas that you could teleport to. some of them were on top fo the cliffs. there was grass up there but in the basin it was all sand & rock.
there was some dude who was normal & people liked him until he became obsessed with the doomsday device & started a cult about them in one of the ruins not far in. i opposed this obviously because like...i do not want the doomsday device activating. so he usd the doom power to turn me into a tiny dog after i disrupted one of his cult sermons.
fortunately my hideout wasn’t far away - i had some power that allowed me to move the empty spaces through stone, so i could move my room not quite on command but close enough to me that i i could run in & move it away. the door would disappear. our powers cancelled each other out if we got close i think so i needed to get farther away from him.
later i got turned back into a human & opened my door to peek out & he was literally right there. so i was like ah shit i can’t control the fucking spaaces anymore, but he also lost his doom powers i guess so we were just like okay. so this is a standoff. he went into my room which i didn’t particularly care for & then had a really strange conversation with me that showed that 1. his body had been taken over by the “doom entity” & he was an unwilling passenger & 2. the original him had a thing for me. cringe . well he wasn’t ugly
anyway there was a second door off to somebody else’s room apparently & some other lady was in there. she ahd a very “villainess” aesthetic. long black hair (wavy) & bright purple lipstick & eyeshadow. i think she was like his second in command but only to the doom entity & she kept peeking through the door & rolling her eyes.
second dream: i was like...in another country in walmart. my dad & sister were there too, though my dad was distracted looking at vacuum cleaners. they were hanging on a rack like clothes, whcih was interesting. anyway i stopped to look at the monster flavors (kept on the endcap near the vacuum cleaners) in case there was anything i hadnt’ had before, like when i visited my friend earlier this year & they had like a dark pink can called like mixxd flavor that i’d never seen stateside (it was pretty good). onoe of the workers saw me looking and kept trying to sell me some & i was like haha i’m literally going  to the airport in 24 hours so i don’t want a monster subsccription & she was so persistent & wouldn’t atke no for an answer. and eventually she finally referred me to her manager, who immediately tried to convince me of the same thing. variously throughout this conversation the settings would change, like we were outside (the aisles were still there), we were in an otherwise empty warehouse with all the lights off except for one above us, back in walmart but with all the lights off & only illuminated from the glass doors at the front, etc etc.
anyway the manager still didn’t get the fuckin picture & i was like seriously. leave me alone i’m not gonna buy your shit unless you can guarantee i’ll still get 1 free monster a week in america. & she pushed a can of monster into my hands in response & i was about to be like fuck offff but i looked at it bc i realized it was only 1 inch in diameter. it was like a can monster energy with the dimensions of a boba straw. i was too shocked to say anything else.

The Bakugou Kids - Bakugou Katsuki
(Dad)Bakugou x (Mom)f!reader
Warnings: Fluff, Crack, Cursing
Summary: Bakugou and Y/N love their son with their entire beings, but sometimes, parents need a break. Especially when those parents are responsible for creating a literal demon spawn. He is kind, well behaved, and cute of course! But he does have Bakugou blood in him. With Y/N already away on a girls trip, Bakugou has to find out how he’s going to deal with his (now) many, many kids.
A/N: You passed down your duplication quirk down to Katsuo.
BAKUGOU’S MASTERLIST
“Are you sure you’ll be okay?” You asked your husband as you stood at the doorway. “Katsumi may be a calm baby but she’s still a baby. And Katsuo’s quirk just kicked in and it is mine. I would know how difficult it can be to manage.”
“Stop worrying, Babe. It’s just a duplication quirk. And he’s only 5, how powerful can it really be?”Katsuki said, wrapping his arms around you. “Just go on your little girl’s trip with Ponytail and Racoon Eyes. I can handle the brat.”
You looked at your husband with a raised brow and smile before rolling your eyes and giving him a kiss. “Alright then. I’ll see you in a few days!”
With that, you walked out of the house and into the cab to meet your friends at the resort. Katsuki chuckled before walking back into the house to find his son napping on the couch. His spiky, blonde locks were all messed up with bed head while his E/C eyes he inherited from you remained shut. Katsuki walked over to his newborn daughter and picked her up while he took a seat next to Katsuo’s sleeping form, rubbing at his soft hair until he woke up.
“Can’t be all that bad, right Katsumi?”
The baby girl merely cooed with sparkling ruby eyes that mimicked her father’s.
Wow. Wrong. He was so wrong! It had only been 2 days since your departure but things had already gone so wrong! When you said your quirk was difficult to manage, Katsuki thought it would be difficult for Katsuo to manage. Not him!
Katsuki should’ve known his son would’ve taken the opportunity to act out while his mother was away. He had always been your little angel while Katsuki saw him as his little gremlin. With Y/N gone, Katsuo has been pushing all kinds of limits. Limits that had Katsuki beat.
Katsuo had been fortunate enough to inherit a quirk. And not just any quirk, but your quirk. Duplication. Basically, he can create copies of himself. When you were his age, you could only create 4, max. Katsuo was different though. He had Bakugou blood flowing through him. He was advanced the second he was born. So now, Katsuki was stuck looking after Katsumi, Katsuo, and Katsuo’s 16 other copies.
“Aye! Number 15, you’re gonna break that lamp! 11 and 8! Don’t wrestle in the mud! Go take a bath! NUMBER 3 GET OFF THE KITCHEN ISLAND! KATSUMI!” The adult blond screamed, looking for his infant daughter, eventually finding her sleeping in her little rocker on the living room floor. “Oh right, you don’t talk yet.”
Katsuki sighed as he slumped down next to his daughter, and leaned his back against the couch. He looked around the room and saw the 17 Katsuo’s making a ruckus around the house. All he could do was question how the hell is 3 month old daughter could possibly sleep through all this.
Katsuki almost lost all hope for humanity until a knock was heard on his front door. Knowing exactly who was there, he quickly got up from his place on the floor and ran to the entrance. “You idiots are finally here!”
Katsuki pulled in his 3 friends, the boys of the Bakusquad, and slammed the door shut. The 3 friends all stood in shock at the sight of the house. Not that it was overly messy or anything. It’s just that there were about 16 more figures in the house that aren’t usually there.
“You gotta help me!” Katsuki said, running infront of them, shaking his best friend’s shoulders. “I love my kids! I do! I love Katsuo, I swear! BUT I DIDNT SIGN UP TO BE A FATHER OF 18 FREAKING DEVILS!”
“Okay! Okay, relax man. We’re here.” Kirishima said, patting his friend’s shoulder as he wept. “How the hell are we gonna take care of 17 little Bakugous?”
“Right? We thought 1 Kacchan was a lot. Then you brought another one into the world, who apparently brought some unannounced friends.” Kaminari joked.
“They’re demons!” Katsuki exclaimed. “This has to be some fucking Karma for the shit I did. I knew I should’ve listened to my old hag better. Now shits came back to bite me in the- HEY! PUT YOUR SISTER DOWN! SHE’S NOT A FOOTBALL!”
Katsuos number 7 and 5 placed a sleeping Katsumi back in her rocker with an annoyed pout before running off to play something else.
“Welllll, there’s nothing that 3 cool uncles can’t fix!” Sero enthusiastically said. “Hey kiddos! Who’s ready to have some fun?”
All the mini blondes stopped their movements, some freezing mid-air, and looked to the slim man. They all shouted in joy at the sight of their uncles and ran to pounce on the 3 men, including their father. From the point of view of the boys in the Bakusquad, it looked like a Bakugou stampede.
“Run, run, RUN, RUN, RUUUNN!!!!” Kaminari screamed as the boys all ran for their lives to escape the herd of Katsuos. This was going to be an interesting day.
Safe to say after the day had passed, the boys of the Bakusquad were completely exhausted. Sero had half his clothes torn, Kirishima’s hair fell from it’s great spikes and even lost some red hues, Katsuki’s eye bags had never been heavier, and Kaminari was just straight knocked the fuck out. They were all thrown across the couch as Katsumi rested in Katsuki’s arms.
“What do we do?” Kirishima exclaimed.
“I don’t know.” Katsuki said, looking at his scrambling son(s). “There’s just too many.”
“And we’ve already lost a soldier.” Sero said pointing to Kaminari’s sleeping form. Katsuki and Kirishima followed his gaze and bowed their heads in respect towards the defeated Kaminari.
“Well now what? Is Bakugou just supposed to live like this for the next 3 days?” Kirishima asked.
“Hell no. If I do, there’s not gonna be anymore Katsuki. I’ll just be some body without a soul because my damn gremlins sucked it outta’ me.” Katsuki said with his head dropped down.
“Well how do we get them to calm down?” Sero questioned.
“I don’t know. They’re all mini me’s. Nobody could get me to relax.” Katsuki said in defeat, but that’s when Kirishima had a lightbulb go off for him.
“Except for Y/N!” The red head said, popping up from his seat on the couch.
“Uh, if you haven’t noticed Shitty Hair, this all started because she’s away on her trip.” Katsuki said with sarcasm as he looked at his friend as if he was an idiot.
“I know that! But Y/N wasn’t the only one to tame you, Bakugou!” Kirishima said in excitement.
“So then who else?” Katsuki asked.
“You know,” Kirishima smirked. “Denki’s favorite person. Y/N and.........”
It took Katsuki a second before his eyes popped when he finally got it. “No!”
“Yes!” Kirishima said.
“No way! We’re not going to her!” Katsuki complained.
“Who?” Sero asked.
“Nobody!” Katsuki screamed.
“Oh it’s somebody alright! Somebody who was able to tame the beast in Bakugou the second he was born!” Kirishima said.
“Who?” Sero asked. Katsuki finally sighed before he gave in, realizing this was his only hope for sanity. He grabbed his phone and made a quick call before explaining to his dark-haired friend.
“The demon of all demons...”
The door opened to reveal a tall standing brunette and an elder feminine blonde.
“...My mother.”
The boys of the Bakusquad all sat lined up on the couch as Mitsuki stood at Katsuki’s end and smacked her son’s head.
“You idiots! Y/N leaves for 2 days and all hell breaks lose?!” Mitsuki screamed at the 3 young men.
“You old hag! Quit hitting me! Ima’ grown man for crying out loud!” Katsuki screamed as he rubbed his head. Masaru simply bounced the sleeping Katsumi in his arms as he watched the scene play out.
“Well if you’re such a grown man then why can’t you manage your own kids without your wife’s help?!” Mitsuki argued, leaving Katsuki silent as he grumbled. The eldest blonde sighed before continuing. “Alright listen, I’ll watch these little devils for the next few days until Y/N comes back. I’d love to spend some time with my grandbrats. Why don’t the 3 of you go take a break and-“
“THANKS! Let’s go losers!” Katsuki said dragging his friends to the exit. Mitsuki and Masaru only laughed at their son’s behavior as they began tending to the kids.
The boys of the Bakusquad all quickly walked out of the house and headed for their cars as they all walked together.
“So, where to?” Sero asked.
“We could go head up that new resort in Tokyo!” Kaminari suggested.
“Naahhh. That’s where Y/N’s having her girl’s trip. Wifey would kill me if she saw me there instead of at home with the kids.” Katsuki said with his hands in his pockets. Kirishima raised his brow at this.
“Oh? So then, maybe we should go back and-“
“You know, on second thought,” Katsuki said with wide eyes once Kirishima made the suggestion. He took his hands out of his pockets and placed them behind his friend’s backs to keep them moving. “Maybe she won’t kill me..if I’m lucky..and wish..upon a shooting star....a million times over. Hah.....yeah. TO THE RESORT!”
As they walked, Kaminari attempted to look at the house once more, prompting Katsuki to turn his friend’s head back around. “No, no, no, don’t look back, they can smell fear.”

Everyone likes to pretend Billy was never even there. Life goes on, people change, the past gets forgotten.
A year isn’t enough time for Max though. Right now it feels like the rest of her life wouldn’t be enough time, but Neil and Susan, they were doing just fine.
It’s almost like they like not having him around, that extra burden they couldn’t shake. The plan only Max knew was that Billy was going to stay at home until she was old enough to go with him so she’d be safe.
She knew he was fed up and looking at some local apartments within walking distance of Cherry Lane anyways, but then July happened, and Billy died.
Now it’s July again, and her hair is in twin braids of red with pure white ribbons on the end, and her and her mother are wearing matching blouses. There’s bruises under the bangle on her mothers wrist and one under Max’s own sleeve, and she just wants her brother back.
It’s a holiday they told her, her father (he’s not her fucking father, they never made her call him that when Billy was around) is a veteran, they have to celebrate. Better just dry her eyes and get over it.
Her mother invites all the family they have in the area over to their house for a little get together picnic, and they do their little happy family routine for a while, but Max can only handle so much of it.
Billy should be here by her side, flicking watermelon seeds at her face and putting ice cubes from the cooler down the back of her shirt, being an asshole to distract her from the reality of her family.
And that was that she didn’t really have one, a family. It was always just her and Billy.
Even at these events made for bonding with family, they were off to the side, messing around while the adults talked like they weren’t even there, and she knew she was a little naive then, but it stung more than ever, knowing that even after she’d lost her brother, nobody even stopped to say hi or check up on her, it was just straight into gossiping about the neighbors and those disrespectful bastards across the street who weren’t flying a flag for the holiday and family members who couldn’t be there.
But Max never heard Billy’s name come up even once, and not even in a respect to the dead boy and his grieving sister type of way, but rather, in the way that they just didn’t want to acknowledge his existence. None of these people had come to his graduation in May of last year, or his funeral two months later.
Billy was a taboo that the Hargrove-Mayfields didn’t dare taint their celebrations of freedom and justice with. The irony made Max sick to her stomach.
Or that was at least, until Neil couldn’t help himself.
His words are slurring already, with an excuse to party he’s on what Max would guess to be his fifth or sixth beer that afternoon, and someone just made the mistake of mentioning their own son, Billy and Max’s third cousin or something, and it spurs Neil off on a tangent about his.
“That boy was always good for nothing anyways. It’s almost the same now that he’s dead, ‘Cept maybe now I get some more quiet around the house.”
Nobody knows what to do when he says that, there’s a couple awkward laughs and one shocked gasp, that one was probably from her mother, but Max knows exactly what she wants to do.
What she wants is to watch Neil choking on his blood instead of her brother, his body being lowered into the ground instead of Billy’s, and in the moment she feels like she could be the one to make that a reality, but instead she just stands abruptly, a plate of the food her mother worked so hard to prepare for them she’d been too queasy to eat falling off her knees to the grass, and she says everything she’d bottled up for the past year.
“Don’t talk about Billy that way!
“Now, Maxine-“ Neil starts, but Max is livid, can’t hold back all the things she wished she had said before Billy died, when she got grounded after the funeral, when Neil started beating her, “No! I’m not going to let you do to me what you did to my brother! You don’t get to control me like you did him, it’s your fault that he’s dead!”
It’s her mother’s turn to try to stop her, slender hand covering her mouth painted red, “Maxine..”
“Stop trying to reason with me! I’m sick of pretending to be a family when I had to watch my own brother die! And I’m sick of being treated like I’m crazy for being the only one that cares about Billy!”
More than one person chimes in on that one, offended by the notion they don’t care about family, though it’s Neil that insists, in that faux calm, close to snapping voice of his, “We do care, Maxine. We’re all grieving in our own ways.”
She fires back, “Grieving what? The loss of your punching bag? You hated Billy! You don’t care that he’s dead, all that matters to you is having someone to hurt, and you no trouble adjusting to beating up on your wife and step-daughter instead!”
She catches a backhand to the face for that, and all the background chatter comes to a halt, Neil gritting out through his teeth, “Inside. Now.”
There are tears in her eyes that sting almost as much as the knuckle marks on her cheek, but Max feels like she won, getting her step dad all riled up in front of their family, she feels almost invincible, and she sneers all smug like and bitter, “I can’t go inside yet. I’m celebrating your service to our country, dad. You know, as a family.”
But when Neil's face turns as red as the blood that dripped from his wife’s nose the night before and he stands from his chair and drags her inside by the wrist himself, she realizes that it wasn’t exactly a win.
And when her brain goes numb trying to focus on both the repeated slaps and punches that explode like firecrackers across her skin and the way Neil is yelling and lecturing her until his voice is raw, giving her the same lessons her brother had burned into the back of his mind, she feels like she’s lost everything instead.
When she has to choke back her tears and apologize for embarrassing Neil and for making him hit her as punishment, she realizes, this isn’t a game that can be won or lost at all.
Max isn’t allowed to go back outside to the party. That rule goes unspoken, but words aren't necessary with the way Neil storms off without another word, slamming the back door behind himself. She’s slowly starting to figure out what the things her step father does instead of says mean.
She misses being allowed to be clueless, having someone to protect her or take what punishment she had earned. She wishes she wouldn’t have asked so much of Billy though.
Her own room isn’t safe anymore, what once had been the place she’d be ushered off to when Neil got bad had become more like a trap, the place Neil went to first when he was angry. Everything that had been hers felt wrong, so she goes to Billy’s room and doesn’t come out for the rest of the night. Even now that he’s gone, he still kept her safe.
There’s a welt on her face and fresh bruises forming everywhere, hot tears wetting her sunburnt cheeks and the pillows that smell like Billy, or at least used to before Susan decided his room needed cleaned and washed away every trace of her brother.
All night long there are fireworks going off, a big show put on by the city downtown has her shaking, unable to close her eyes for fear those distant explosions would take her back to the mall, bring back memories she’d never forget, and covering her ear with her hands.
The cracks and booms that shake her windows and her entire life, a headache and a heart break even stronger.
She tries her hardest not to think about Starcourt though, so instead she thinks about how Billy would’ve been proud of her for standing up to Neil. He would’ve called her an idiot, but he would’ve cleaned up her scrapes and held her through the panic attack after, and he probably would’ve liked to see the person Max was becoming too.
That makes Max’s heart hurt, the fact that he won’t get to. She cries harder, and she feels so alone without Billy.
Some part of her knows that she isn’t though. She isn’t the only one that lost somebody last July.
Hawkins’ cemetery was alive with flowers and wreaths and decoration, and more than anything the grieving. All of the victims had families, or in the case of the Holloway’s where their whole family was killed, they had friends and neighbors in the tight knit community who remembered them. El was still grieving Hopper, and Max knew Billy had people like that too.
Billy was popular, his death had a huge impact on the younger population of the town, but not only that, he had his closest friends, Steve and Tommy and Carol and Nicole and Adam from the pool, and of course Heather couldn’t be there, but those people were all keeping her brother alive.
As much as it felt like everyone was trying to forget him, they weren’t, and that brought Max a little bit of hope.
Hope that Billy would be remembered for the things he did right, and who he was behind the boy he had to be to keep them safe.
Hope that with his memory kept in the hearts of so many, the burden of grief wouldn’t fall solely on Max forever and make things a little easier.
Hope that the wound would someday heal, and she could look back on the time she did have with Billy, those seven too short years, with a smile on her face.
For now, she wraps herself in Billy’s jacket and comforter, listening to his music to drown out the distant fireworks, and dreams of the day when things won’t be like this, when she can leave Hawkins and all it’s bad memories and the “family” holding her back to live a life her brother would be proud of, a life that would honor his.
Max decides then with determination, flinching when a bright flash lights up her window, a loud echo through the quaint neighborhood, that she was going to do what Billy hadn’t been able to and break the cycle.
Tomorrow, she’d tell the school counselor she’d been assigned when her depression was at its worst all about Neil Hargrove.

wc: 1.7 k
Through the week you’d ghosted the four of them, Tom had probably been affected the most. Being your brother’s best friend, he was very much intertwined with your life, which meant he was just as dependent on you as he was on Harrison.
The night after their apology in your apartment, Tom had come over with more take out and one of his hoodies on his arm.
“Hey… Tom?” You were surprised by his presence, standing in the doorway of the front entrance, Tom on your patio. “What’s up?”
“Can I- uh… Can I talk to you?” “Sure…” You’re still confused, but nevertheless, open the door wider for him.
Tom has always been your protector in a different way than Harrison’s ‘older-brother protective mode.’ He’s genuinely cared about your well-being, and tended to keep you out of the public’s eyes despite you not being a celebrity. He was there when you needed a ride home in the rain, and he was there when your ex-boyfriend had cheated on you with your best friend. He was there, angrily, supportively, encouragingly. Sure, he gave you butterflies, but you as another rule of the circle goes, siblings are off limits. Nobody had ever broken the rule, and you suspected Tom wasn’t here to break it either, so you dropped the thoughts from your mind, attention resorting back to the brunette in front of you.
“What’s happening?” You’re awkwardly sitting on the couch beside him until the tension fades away into nothingness. It’s never like this between the two of you, but you’re picking apart the context, pointing out in your head his demeanor — and why this time feels different.
“I, erhm,” He clears his throat. “I really missed you those past two weeks.”
“Aww,” You jutt a lip out, assuming that’s all he’s here for. Restoring those lost cuddles, huh? “I really missed you, too.” “That’s… not exactly what I mean.”
“Okay…” You lean back a bit in defeat. “What do you mean, then?”
“I mean… I’ve had feelings for you for a while.” He’s blushing profusely, scratching the back of his neck out of nervousness. Your eyes widen and he’s quick to continue, not wanting to shock you too much. “And- And I know it’s so fucking cliche — your brother’s best friend likes you — and I know that we have that stupid rule about not going out with your best friend’s siblings but I just… I don’t want to go away on- on… business or something and come back and you’re somebody else’s girl.”
You can’t help but let a grin take over your face. You can feel yourself heating up, hands coming to block your face from his view, trying to save your dignity and keep the embarrassment to a minimum despite him spilling his heart out right in front of you.
“Do… do you feel the same way?” You bite your lip before picking your head up. He’s so innocent — so sweet and so gentle and tender and pure with his words — and the glint of hope in his eyes could make your heart burst. It doesn’t, but instead flutters faster, wings flapping as it prepares to take flight. You’re afraid of where it’s going, but you decide to let it fly right in the hands of the boy standing in front of you.
“I didn’t think you’d ever feel the same way.” You confess it sheepishly. Tom’s quick to grow redder, ears turning a scarlet shade.
“The- the same way?”
“Yeah,” You breathe out a laugh. “I have feelings for you, too.” “That’s…” He trails off with a smile before remembering the hoodie he has in his hands. “Do you, uh- do you wanna be my girlfriend?” He holds the article of clothing out as an offer, widening your grin as you stand with a nod. “Yeah,” You take the hoodie from him, slipping it on smoothly. His smirk grows at the sight of you in his clothing. “You’ll be my boyfriend?”
He rolls his eyes jokingly, laughing with a happy smile. “Yeah.”
That is how you ended up here, at a bar with a few of your friends. Aisha and her girlfriend sit on your right — you’re on the inside of the crowded booth, sitting atop Tom’s lap to save space and to nuzzle closer to him. He’d told his brothers and yours that he was going up north to Manchester for the weekend.
In reality, he was secretly staying in your apartment, which was a few miles from the flat he shared with Harrison and the twins. The two of you were downtown right now, dressed for clubbing despite only downing a few shots. He’s dressed a bit differently than from his normal ‘clubbing’ outfits — you style him in dark grey slacks and a mesh shirt. His hair was slightly messy but hotter than ever, and your fingers constantly took a trip through the strands of curls, massaging his scalp while he groaned occasionally.
(Yeah fuck me, that esquire picture fucked me up for days.)
He’s holding a beer, now, one hand on your waist. Your legs are splayed across his lap, ass on his thigh comfortably while an arm wraps around the back of his neck. It’s comfortable — and intimate, but neither of you mind. It’s barely nine o’clock, and Aisha had insisted on paying for one of those stupid clubbing games. A waiter had brought the drinks over, and now each of you were going around to answer the questions as best they could with the amount of alcohol in their veins.
The two girls across from you were drinking the most, but Aisha’s girlfriend, Iridessa, was designated driver for the night, so the rest of your friend group was fine with getting wasted.
“Time for a cute pic,” Andrea announced, beckoning the cute waiter over for a favor. He took the picture on your Instagram, handing it back to you while you posted it to your story in seconds.
Your pose against Tom was cozy, and his face was hidden in the crook of your neck — you remember this fact very well, because he’d left a few open-mouthed kisses against your skin in the middle of the picture. His hair was different, and you hoped the only correlation between him and the boy your brother knew was that his lanky fingers were gripping a glass of beer.
Within a matter of minutes, each of Tom’s brothers — and your own — were replying to the post of you cuddled up with a ‘mysterious boy.’ They were currently discussing it in the Instagram groupchat, and Tom was trying to act as surprised, but he was being vague, too preoccupied with the girl in his lap.
You clicked the off button, setting your phone down on the wooden table, deciding to let them chatter away and deciphering who you were with and why. That was a mistake, because they had decided to talk about it in their kitchen, eventually deciding to drive down to the bar you were at. It was only a fifteen minute drive — what was the harm?
You were caught off guard by the door swinging open, emerging three boys searching for you. You gasped, alerting Tom and Aisha that if they did see you, your relationship would be outed. You tried to hide away in the booth, go as unnoticed as possible. You saw them go to the back of the bar, where more people were located, and breathed out in relief. They wouldn’t be leaving that room anytime soon — it was too crowded.
You remained in your seat, joining the game normally again. You missed the way Harrison had gasped, eyes widening as he pointed to you for the twins to see. They came practically marching over to your booth to get a better look at the brown-haired boy whose lap you were seated in.
“Y/N?” Harrison asked, another gasp escaping. “Tom?!” Your jaw dropped open, eyebrows raising against your forehead. You felt Tom’s hand squeeze your waist in acknowledgement — in protectiveness — and you tried to act as normal as possible.
“Hi.” You spoke meekly, something Harrison had rolled his eyes at.
“Tom?!” Harry was just as surprised. “You’re supposed to be in Manchester! For the weekend!” “Right…” He laughed sheepishly. “Surprise? I’m sorry, I lied.” He tried again, noticing Harrison’s jaw tense, clenching and unclenching.
“You’re…. You’re with my baby sister?!”
Tom nibbled his bottom lip and you placed a calming hand on his chest. “Guys, don’t freak out. You’re gonna cause a scene.” You eyed them. “Especially you, Haz.” He shifted on his feet, dominantly leaning on his right one.
“You’re breaking rule number two.”
You didn’t falter as you responded, without missing a beat. “You broke rule number one, first.”
He didn’t answer, and you could sense Aisha and Iridessa were awkwardly sitting between you and the boys. The tension was thicker than you thought it’d be, so you decided to speak again, filling the silence before Harrison had a breakdown in front of everyone.
“Look, can we just talk about this later? I’m with people right now, I can’t really have this conversation here.”
“Fine.” Harrison agreed, but he sneered closer to Tom, eyes crisp and jaw tight. “But you’re not off the hook, Tommy.”
Tom nodded nonchalantly, sipping his beer before replying. “Do you mind? My girl and I are a bit busy.”
You bit your lip at his words, knees weakening and stomach erupting in butterflies. This boy-
That seemed to tick Harrison off in a teasing way before they finally left the bar. You exhaled in relief, gasping at Tom. “That’s literally saying something to my dad like ‘you’re not the only daddy anymore!’” You compared the instances. “You’re a cheeky bastard.” You slapped his shoulder. Tom let out a loud laugh, chuckling while his hand rubbed up and down your side. “You know Harrison’s still gonna be pissed, though.” You sighed and Tom pouted, kissing your nose to grab your attention.
“It’s gonna be okay, alright?” You nodded, a bit unconvinced, and Tom clicked his tongue. “Trust me?”
You nodded again, faithfully, and he smirked, squeezing your hip again. You brought his hand to you, guiding the glass to your lips and sipping his beer. He watched you through hooded eyelids, tongue running across his bottom lip, across his teeth. You could see his pupils dilate, and you smirked from behind the cup, fingers slipping from his hand with a small smirk, turning back to the girls and continuing the game just as you had before.

********************************************************************************
So, are you planning on getting us together soon?
He hummed in response, pulling out the pan and spatula. “I dunno. With Gutierrez’s wife giving birth, I want Esmeralda to have some time with her daughter before we pull out again. I know her Samantha wants her home.”
Understood, but…what’s happening in Syria…it’s not going to get better on its own.
“I know it won’t, Nadeen. But until we get a mission from somebody overseas, we can’t exactly go out.” He pulled a few eggs from the refrigerator, cracking them on the rim of the pan, watching the yellow yolks fall in. “Besides, it’s the first week of a three-month leave.” He smirked. “Don’t tell me you’re already bored.”
Are you kidding me? Um and Ab have grounded me from flying. I’m stuck here, (Y/N).
“How is your family by the way? Wasn’t your sister attending the Cairo University?” he asked.
Yeah, and Um is so proud of her.
(Y/N) chuckled, whisking the eggs in the pan. “Someone’s jealous.”
Well, I can’t exactly tell my parents I work for an illegal black ops squad. Kinda puts dampers in relationships.
“Nadeen, we’re not an illegal squad. We’re government sanctioned.”
The fuck we are. They just don’t bother us because they know they can’t kill us all.
Grabbing the pepper, he ground some into the pan. “Jesus, take a vacation, Nadeen. Go to France or something.”
Fuck France. I’ll go to Saint Petersburg first. Oh shit, speaking of SP, have you spoken to Vitsina yet?
(Y/N) frowned, setting down the pepper grinder. “Why? Is something wrong?”
What? No. I was just wondering if you had. She really needs to get a hobby. Hey, maybe I can get her and Walker to come hang out with me at home.
“You’re not going to get Walker out of his flat, Nadeen. You know how he is when he gets on leave.”
And what about Nakamoto?
“You know they’re both paranoid. Remember to—” something clanged down the hallway and he stopped, mid-sentence, going silent.
Hello? (Y/N)? Captain, you alright?
He frowned and turned off the stove, opening a drawer at the far end of the counter. Pulling out the Glock, he cocked it and murmured, “Asghar, lemme call you back.”
Ten-four, Captain. Be careful.
The line went dead, and he crept to the edge of the doorway and paused, inhaling sharply before he peeked around the corner, gun ready. Nothing. (Y/N)’s frown only deepened as he moved down the hallway, quiet and breathless. He got to the first room in the hall, his study and he shifted against the wall, listening for movement. When he heard nothing, he moved slightly, gun pointed into the door as he swept the room. Empty.
Exhaling deeply, he started to move when he heard the noise again and he peeked out the door to his bedroom. There. (Y/N) crept along the wall again until he was at the doorway and he leaned against the frame, listening carefully. Something was in there. Something or someone, he didn’t know what, but he did know.
(Y/N) waited until the noise got closer then turned the doorway and moved in. Someone’s hand shot out, grabbing the gun and he grunted, throwing up his elbow into their jaw. The intruder cried and with their free hand, grabbed (Y/N)’s shirt and yanked; they went tumbling to the ground, the gun falling away, but he didn’t waste his chance, scrambling atop the stranger as he went for the Strider he had in his back pocket.
He flicked it out and brought it down when the person beneath him grabbed it with one hand, the other ripping off the hood he wore. “(Y/N)! It’s me!”
“Roy?”
The archer sighed and went slack beneath him. “God, yes, it’s me!”
(Y/N) relaxed and tossed the knife to the side, hanging his head down. “Jesus Fuck Roy, I thought you were an assassin.”
“Get those often?” he shot back and (Y/N) glowered at him.
“Yeah, I do actually.” He rolled off Roy and got to his feet, holding out his hand for him to take.
“God, remind me not to sneak up on you again.” He let himself be tugged up and rubbed his jaw. “I thought you dislocated my jaw for a second.”
(Y/N) shoved a finger in his face. “You’re lucky you managed to grab the gun because I almost shot your ass.” He bent down and picked up his Glock and knife, putting the latter back in his pocket after he’d flicked it shut. “Are you some kind of idiot? Why the fuck didn’t you just knock on the door? What possibly justified sneaking into a mercenary’s bedroom through the window?”
Roy shrugged. “I thought you weren’t home yet.”
He opened his mouth to retort, then shut it and nodded. “Alright, that’s actually not a terrible excuse.” Sighing, he shoved past Roy and walked down the hall into the kitchen, the archer following him. “But don’t do it again.”
“Why? Worried you were gonna shoot your boyfriend?” Roy teased, wrapping his arms around (Y/N)’s waist, nuzzling into his neck.
“Yeah, I was.” He put the gun back in the drawer and lugged the archer towards the stove where he flicked the burner back on. “Next time just text me and ask if I’m home.”
Roy hummed, pressing a kiss just above the mercenary’s collar. “I wanted to surprise you.”
“Well, surprise me you did,” (Y/N) griped. “I seriously thought I was about to have a firefight in my own damn apartment.” He paused, seeming to remember something and said, “I live in a penthouse.” Glancing at Roy, he questioned, “How the fuck did you get up here?”
“I’ve got skills, babe,” Roy grinned, waggling his brows and (Y/N) rolled his eyes before tapping the Bluetooth headset at his ear.
“Call Nadeen.” It pinged for a few moments.
Captain, you’re back. Everything good?
“Yeah,” he sighed. “Roy was in the apartment.”
You live in a penthouse? How’d he get up there?
“His ‘skills’ apparently.”
Nice. He still going around with your brother?
(Y/N) nodded forgetting she wasn’t in front of him and reclined into Roy as the eggs started cooking. “Yeah. Got a new gig as Red Hood and Arsenal.”
Roy blinked. “Wait, does your squad know…about you know…”
He waved and (Y/N) completed, “That my family and friends are vigilantes? Yeah. Why?”
“Isn’t that a breach of security?”
He snorted. “You act like my squad is friends with every government in the world, baby.” He shook his head. “I trust my team with everything. And in return they trust me with theirs.”
Aww, Captain you do care.
“Does your dad know that they know?”
(Y/N) shrugged. “Probably. But he doesn’t tell me how to live my life and I don’t tell him how to live his.” He scrambled the eggs. “Nadeen, go hang out with Vitsina for a week or two if you’re really that bored.”
She’s back in Russia right now, isn’t she?
“I think so. Said she had a loose end to tie up with Antonovich.”
Oh shit, she’s gonna fucking kill that guy. She might need air support then.
“Hence why I said go hang out with her.”
Wanna come along? You could bring your boy-toy?
“Did she just call me a boy-toy?” Roy blurted. “Excuse you, I am not a boy-toy. I am a boy-man.”
Well, from the pictures Captain’s showed us, you are in fact a boy-toy, Roy.
He blinked and looked at (Y/N). “What pictures did you show them?”
“Nothing,” he coughed. “Nadeen, shut up.”
The ones with the red lace and matching heels.
“You didn’t.” Roy breathed. “You showed them the pin-up photos?!”
(Y/N)’s mouth fell open and closed as he vaguely gestured around. “I didn’t directly show them. Nakamoto hacked my phone like the nosy asshole he is and found ‘em.”
“So that means you still showed them because you apparently didn’t stop them from seeing!”
Oh, look at that, Captain, Ab is calling me. Talk later!
She hung up on him and (Y/N) huffed a laugh, pulling the device from his ear. He set it aside and shrugged out of Roy’s arms, pulling two plates out of the cabinet beside them. He plated the food, smirking at the flush across Roy’s cheeks. “Oh, don’t tell me you’re embarrassed, baby?”
“You showed my nudes to your black ops squad. It’s hot. Ridiculously hot. But also embarrassing.”
“If it makes you feel any better, they were very impressed with them.”
Roy tried and failed horribly to hide the grin coming over his lips. “…They were?”
(Y/N) set down the plates and got up in Roy’s personal space and flirted, “Oh absolutely baby. They were so stunned at how pretty you looked all dolled up in that red teddy, your lips painted crimson.” He gripped Roy’s hips and pulled them flush together, and while Roy was about five-eleven, (Y/N) had a couple inches on him. He smirked when he felt the definition in Roy’s jeans. “Wanna know what my favorite picture is?”
Roy swallowed thickly, one hand coming to grab at the island behind him, the other grabbing (Y/N)’s shoulder. “Which—which one?”
He pressed a kiss to the underside of the archer’s jaw, trailing his lips to his ear where he breathed, “The one where you’re bent down on the bed…” he reached up behind Roy’s back and tugged at the hair at the nape of his neck. “Your ass is up in the air and...”
“Uh huh, what else?” Roy begged, hips canting forward.
“God, you’ve got that pretty red flush across your cheeks.” (Y/N) whispered. “You looked incredibly ravishing.” He breathed in Roy’s ear. “We were on that mission in Kazakhstan for two whole months and all I could think about was getting back home and drilling you into the mattress until you couldn’t walk.”
“(Y/N)…” the archer groaned shamelessly. “Babe, please.”
He smirked, pressing a kiss to Roy’s cheek. “I didn’t show them that one though,” he said, pulling away without a second thought, picking up the plates. “I kept that one to myself. It’s still in my wallet if you wanna go check. I look at it a lot.”
(Y/N) wandered towards the living room and plopped down on the couch, propping his legs up on the coffee table. He snorted when he heard Roy’s moan of frustration followed by the man stomping into the living room with the other plate in his hand, the free one adjusting the front of his jeans.
“I hate you.” He scowled, sitting on the other end of the couch. “I hate you so fucking much it’s not funny.”
(Y/N) shrugged and picked up the remote, switching the channels until he found a football game to watch. “You snuck into my penthouse and almost made me shoot you point blank.” He shot Roy a grin. “I guess we’re both doing things to each other we don’t like.”
“I thought you weren’t home!”
“Mhm. Punishment is still a punishment, baby.” He turned up the volume and dug into his eggs. “Jason know you’re in Gotham City?”
Roy swallowed the food in his mouth, answering, “Told him I was in the area.”
“You know he’s gonna wanna see you.” (Y/N) replied. “If not to hang out, to make sure you’re not into trouble.”
“Are you saying I’m trouble, babe?” Roy retorted and he chuckled.
“You’re my kind of trouble.”
The archer went silent, and his cheeks flushed. “…That was a low blow.”
(Y/N) winked. “Uh huh.” His side vibrated and he reached down, pulling his phone out.
“Who is it?” Roy asked.
“Alfred.” He slid his thumb along the bottom and put it to his ear. “Hello, you’ve reached the answering machine of your favorite grandson. How may I assist you today, grandpa?”
You’re absolutely hysterical, Master (Y/N). You should go into comedy.
“I would but it doesn’t pay that well unlike merc missions.”
Hmm…how are you today, Master (Y/N)?
He smiled. “Not too bad Alfie. Could’ve eaten a perfect parfait with fresh fruit and granola, but beggars can’t be choosers, huh?”
You did miss an excellent breakfast if I do say so myself. Nevertheless, it is Sunday morning. Shall I expect you later tonight for dinner?
“Wouldn’t miss it for the world, Alfie.” (Y/N) agreed.
Wonderful. I shall set out an extra plate in case you decide to invite Master Harper. Have a good day. Until tonight, sir.
The line clicked and (Y/N) pulled the phone from his ear, staring at it in confusion. “Babe? What’s wrong?” Roy questioned.
He shook his head. “Alfred knew you were here.”
“What? He did?”
He looked up at Roy. “Yeah…said he was going to set out an extra plate for you tonight at dinner in case you wanted to come.”
“I get to come to the Wayne Family Sunday Night Dinner? Really?” he seemed awfully excited.
“Dude, it’s just dinner.”
“That you guys do every Sunday night and don’t allow anybody to tread on,” Roy retorted with a glare. “This is special.”
(Y/N) rolled his eyes. “Are you that eager to be introduced to the family?” he dodged the pillow Roy threw at him. “But…if you wanna come, you’re free to.”
“Really?” Roy doubted. “You want me to come over? I thought you wanted to keep this quiet?”
He sighed and pulled his legs from the table, setting the plate on it. “It’s not that I want it to stay a secret. It’s just…I worry about it.”
Roy set his plate down on the coffee table and scooted close. “What about?”
“I don’t know, Roy. I’m just worried that the more people that know about us the more danger I put you in.”
“Babe…” Roy started, placing a hand on the other side of (Y/N)’s cheek so he could turn his face to the archer’s. “We both live dangerous lives. There’s always going to be danger surrounding us.”
“I know,” (Y/N) sighed, leaning into Roy’s hand. “I still worry though. About you…about us.” He met those evergreen eyes. “I’m just worried that every time I leave, it’s going to be the last time we see each other.”
Roy chuckled. “Afraid I’m going to get offed?”
“No,” he murmured, turning his lips into Roy’s palm. “That I will.”
The archer gaped at him. “(Y/N)…why haven’t you told me about this?”
“Because I’m a super soldier who was trained to keep my emotions under control by an anal retentive, over glorified kitchen scale of a father.” (Y/N) deadpanned, then heaved an even bigger sigh and rested his forehead against Roy’s shoulder. “You’ve got enough on your plate.”
“Yeah, Jaybird keeps me pretty busy with missions.”
He chuckled. “Gonna have to tell my little brother to let my boyfriend have a break.”
“Break smeak.” Roy quipped, pressing a kiss to (Y/N)’s temple. “Listen to me, you’re a strong man, (Y/N). You’re probably the best out of your family. Smart and skilled off the charts.” He ran his calloused fingers down his lover’s neck. “If anyone is going to get out alive on a mission, it’ll always be you. Always.”
He sighed, turning his nose into Roy’s neck as he whispered. “You think so?”
Roy smiled, gripping his chin lightly to pull his head up. “I don’t think so, babe. I know so.” He leaned forward and pressed his lips to (Y/N)’s. “I love you,” he murmured against the soldier’s lips. “So much.”
(Y/N) hummed and pressed a hand to Roy’s chest, shoving him backwards onto the couch and he crawled atop him. “I love you more,” he replied and pulled his shirt off his body before pressing his hand to Roy’s chest, except the archer hissed and he let up. “What’s wrong?” he worried, and he shook his head.
“Nothing.”
“Roy.” He warned, cocking a brow. “Where are you hurt?” he asked, pressing the same spot again.
“Ow! Stop that!” Roy grunted. “It’s tender.”
“What’s tender?” (Y/N) inquired and Roy sighed.
“I got a new tattoo.”
He narrowed his eyes and gazed down at him. “Of?”
“Nothing.” The archer muttered, though pink was coming across his cheeks and he sighed.
“C’mon Roy. Talk or I’ll tease it out of you.” He shot him a glare. “And you know I will.”
They stared one another down for a minute then Roy sighed and pulled his shirt off and (Y/N) peeled away the bandage. His eyes went wide when he saw the silver spartan helmet atop the black shield, the gold lettering underneath.
“Is this…”
“Your squad designation?” Roy offered. “Yeah…thought it seemed right.”
(Y/N) traced the raised flesh, eyes flashing to Roy’s when he shivered from the calloused touch. “I can’t believe you got my squads symbol tattooed on your chest.”
“You don’t like it?” he sounded hurt.
“I love it,” (Y/N) huffed, gesturing to his own tattoo on his ribs. “We match now…though you forgot to put your name inside the shield.”
“Well, I’m not technically a Spectre, (Y/N).” Roy said.
“Maybe not, but that’s still where your name goes.” He retorted and smiled. “It’s awesome, baby.”
Roy’s thumb brushed his hipbone. “So does the tattoo get me out of punishment for sneaking in?”
(Y/N) smirked down at him. “It just might.” He reached down and tugged the front of Roy’s pants. “Why don’t you show me how sorry you are for it? I just might decide to forgive you before subjecting you to dinner with my family.”
A multitude of emotions flashed through Roy’s eyes. Arousal, desire, need, and then surprise. “Oh shit, I forgot about dinner.”
“Seriously?” (Y/N) blinked, unsurprised. “God you’re such a man.” He crawled out of Roy’s lap much to the archer’s dismay and groaning.
“Where are you going?”
He paused and looked back at him. “I’m not fucking you on my couch, Roy.” He started towards his bedroom. “Hurry up or I’ll start without you.”
Roy rolled off the couch and to his feet as fast as he could.

_________
Dean’s POV
“Hey,” said Dean, answering his phone as he walked around the grocery store after dropping Y/N off at home. “You gonna come over for the game, Sammy?”
“I got a brief I need to write up for my boss unfortunately,” said Sam. “I can’t wait to quit.”
“Same. You tried these baked barbecue chips yet?” asked Dean, picking up a bag.
“Trying to force your guests to be healthy for once, doctor?” teased Sam.
“Well the girls are having a spa day thing I forgot about and Y/N and Tessa are coming over later for the game so I don’t want it to be a total dude fest of beer and more beer,” said Dean, putting the bag back and get some regular baked ones instead. “They should be over by second half but still.”
“Trying to impress this girl or something? With chips?” laughed Sam. Dean groaned and threw his head back. “Dean. You’re overthinking this. You know brownies are the real way to a woman’s heart.”
“See? I knew there was a reason I didn’t hang up on you yet,” said Dean, turning down the snack aisle.
“I take it the date went well if she’s coming over to hang out.”
“Yeah. She’s cool.”
“She’s cool? That’s all I’m gonna get?” asked Sam. “You haven’t had a girlfriend since you were twenty two and now that you have one it’s just cool?”
“Fine. I like her. She’s cute and she smells pretty and she’s…” trailed off Dean, tossing a tub of brownie bites in the cart.
“She’s what?” asked Sam.
“She gets me, gets what we went through.”
“Her parents fuck ups too?”
“No. But they died a few years ago. She’s got a sister about nine years younger. She’s just starting her senior year now. She’s had to raise her the past few years on her own.”
“...She really does get you then,” said Sam. “Where’d you meet her again?”
“I was taking a walk in the neighborhood. She was looking for their dog. They’re having a really hard time of it right now it sounds like but she just, keeps going with a smile.”
“She’s not a damsel though. Don’t try and sweep in and save the day too much you know. You’d hate that.”
“I know. I helped her get a job at our office since she just lost hers and they’re crunched on cash. Plus the sister is going to college next year,” said Dean.
“She should apply to that grant you got. Mr. Y/L/N helped you with it, right?” asked Sam.
“Yeah he...what’d you just say?” asked Dean, pausing in front of the dip section.
“The grant money. It paid for nearly all your undergraduate right?” asked Sam. “It’s the same one I did too.”
“Mr. Y/L/N,” said Dean, shutting his eyes as he realized why Y/N’s house looked so familiar. “Sammy.”
“What?”
“Y/N, the girl, her house...where was Mr. Y/L/N’s house?” asked Dean.
“Over on Pine I think,” said Sam. “I know it’s in your neighborhood somewhere.”
“Oh Sammy. Shit,” said Dean. “I think I know why he stopped talking to us a few years ago. His house, that’s Y/N’s house. Mr. Y/L/N was her dad, Sam.”
“No fucking way.”
“Yes fucking way. Fuck,” said Dean adding some sour cream and onion and guacamole to the cart. “She’s gonna think I’m just trying to pay her back for what he did or something.”
“Yeah but you didn’t know that when you got her the job. You gotta tell her at some point but it doesn’t have to be a problem,” said Sam.
“Well what if he went and told his family about the guy he caught stealing? I’m sure she’d think I’m great then. Of course, the one woman that I’m like…”
“You’re like what?” asked Sam. Dean was quiet, heading over towards the beer cooler. “In love with?”
“Geez, Sam. I barely know her. I’m not in love with her,” said Dean. “I just...I could see myself being in love with her.”
“So...you pre-love her,” said Sam.
“Exactly.”
“Yeah there’s no such thing, dumbass. You’re fucking falling for this girl and fast.”
“I know,” said Dean, shutting his eyes by the milk. “She just...she feels like you. Like she’s got no ulterior motive. I just...something is telling me I can’t fuck this up. I’m not supposed to.”
“Then you won’t,” said Sam. “You sure it’s not like that thing with Lisa?”
“That was me ignoring all the crap because I thought somebody loved me. Sam the moment I met this girl like...I don’t know,” said Dean. “I don’t think she’ll fuck me over.”
“I hope she works out. She sounds special.”
“She is and that is terrifying.”
“Dean contrary to what we grew up with and how your love life has gone so far, there are people that have amazing relationships out there. You can be one of them if you want,” he said.
“I know. Take a break and call at halftime or something, okay? The losers miss seeing your face too.”
“I will. Talk to you soon Dean.”
Reader’s POV
“Hello, Y/N,” said Tessa as you walked past her room an hour later. “How was Dean’s?”
“Good. He invited us over later to watch football. Some guys your age will be there too if you’re interested.”
“Alright,” she said. “Hey so you know how we were talking about sex stuff yesterday?”
“Oh yeah. We were gonna talk more,” you said. You took a seat in her desk chair and she sat up on her bed. “The fake dick thing, that was throwing you off, right?”
“Yeah. Well, I kinda talked to Hailey about that stuff last night and she has one. She like showed me it so I kinda get that apparently it feels good if there’s something up there?” she asked.
“Yes, it does. What’s with the questions about sex toys?” you asked.
“I know my birthday is coming up and I’ll be eighteen and I kinda…I’m a hormonal teenager and-”
“I can get you a private gift,” you said with a smile. “Just shut your door if you’re gonna do it when I’m home, okay?”
“I do that now.”
“Good,” you said. “I’ll pick out something small and by the time you want something more, then you can pick that out on your own, okay?”
“Okay,” she said. “Did mom ever...talk about this stuff with you?”
“No,” you said with a laugh. “I found out on my own. It’s perfectly normal and natural and guys aren’t the only ones allowed to get off on their own.”
“Not sure I’d ever ask her anyways,” she said.
“That’s what sisters are for,” you said. “You have fun at Hailey’s then?”
“Mhm. It’s okay if Toast goes to Dean’s later right?”
“Uh, let me check quick,” you said, pulling out your phone.
Hey. Toast can come over too right?
Duh, Y/L/N. He’s more than welcome.
Okay. We’ll see you later.
Later sweetheart.
“Yeah, Toast is cool,” you said. You stood and Tessa cocked her head, smiling at you. “What?”
“How was your date?” she asked.
“I like him. I like him a lot.”
“Good. Tell him if he fucks with you though I’ll kick his ass,” she said. “So will Toast.”
“I wouldn’t worry about it with this one.”
“Whoa, whoa, ladies,” said Dean as you and Tessa started to put on your shoes to head home after the game. “It’s only seven and you two need dinner.”
“What are you making?” asked Tessa.
“I was going to do enchiladas?” he said. Tessa looked at you and you nodded.
“Only if we help though,” you said.
“Alright. Tessa how about you make up some guac for us. You can hang out at the counter, get off that ankle of yours,” said Dean.
“He so likes you,” she said as you walked back with her to the kitchen.
“Yes, I do,” chuckled Dean. Toast followed close by and whined, pawing at your foot. “She okay?”
“My meds are home. Supposed to have them with dinner,” said Tessa with a sigh.
“I can run home and get them real quick,” you said. “Ten minutes.”
“Alright. We’ll get started without you.”
Ten minutes later you were back along with some of Toast’s dog food. You could hear laughter coming from the kitchen, Tessa snorting to herself.
“Here you go dork,” you said, popping the bottle down in front of her.
“Thanks,” she said, taking a few. You used a bowl and fed Toast some dinner while Dean worked on putting the tortillas together. “I like your doctor boyfriend.”
“Oh course you do,” you said, smacking her arm.
“Someone told me she’s turning eighteen in a few weeks. You got any big plans?” he asked as he tucked the last enchilada in a casserole dish.
“We might get a pizza,” said Tessa. “Nothing fancy.”
“Oh I think we can do better than that,” you said with a smile.
“I thought…” said Tessa and you shrugged. “We’re going out? Are we going to Monico’s like we used to?”
“Monico’s? That’s very fancy,” said Dean, giving you a quick look. “You got room for one more?”
“I…” you said, Dean cocking his head. “Sure. You wouldn’t mind, would you Tessa?”
“Yeah, Dean can come,” she said. “Oh shit, would they even let Toast in?”
“He’s a service dog so legally yes, they have to,” said Dean as he popped the casserole in the oven. “Y/N, why don’t you help me set the table. I never eat in the dining room anyways.”
You carried some plates in the room around the front of the house, staring at Dean as he set some spots down.
“Dean. That is a hundred dollar a plate restaurant.”
“It’s her eighteenth birthday and mine was real shitty. I can afford it. Let me. Please.”
“You can’t just buy stuff for her or me.”
“Why not? I like you. I care about you and she’s part of that so I think caring about her is going to be pretty important to you at some point so I might as well start now.”
“Dean.”
“What?”
“Thank you,” you said.
“Oh. Well...okay then.” You left the plates on the table and walked around to where he was, Dean glancing away when you wrapped your arm around his waist.
“Let me go dutch at least.”
“Bake me a pie and we’re even,” he said.
“Alright. Pie is it, Dean.”
Thursday Afternoon
“Hello, Y/N,” said Dean. He grinned as he walked into the lab. “How’s the first week going?”
“She’s a fast learner,” said the lab manager. “What do you need, Winchester?”
“Just saying hi to our new colleague,” he said.
“I already know she’s your girlfriend, Dean.”
“You’re no fun, Wesley,” said Dean. “You like it?”
“I like the pay. Wesley says after a little while I can take some certification courses and work on more complex things. The research hospital tied with the university is really good for that stuff,” you said.
“Oh yeah, those guys do pretty well over there. I think our last tech went on to the radiology program over there. I know blood and urine samples aren’t the most fun thing to work on but-”
“Dean this is more than what I was making as a paralegal even,” you said quietly. “This job is great and Tessa’s on better insurance now. Honestly. I owe you one.”
“All you owe me is a pie,” he chuckled. “You got plans tonight? I know you’ve been busy.”
“I’m free if you had something in mind,” you said.
“Do you maybe want to go out for dinner? Maybe do a round of bowling?” he asked.
“Yeah,” you said. “Sounds fun. Pick me up at six thirty?”
“Sounds like a plan sweetheart.”
“Okay, were you conning me?” asked Dean as you walked back to his car that evening. You giggled and he pulled you into a noogie. “How the fuck do you go from a twenty eight your first game to one fifty? There is no way you weren’t pulling a fast one.”
“What can I say, maybe I just needed a warm up game,” you said. Dean ruffled your hair for a moment before fixing it, leaving his arm around your shoulder when your phone rang. “Hey Tess. What’s up?”
“I think somebody’s in the house,” she said quietly. “I’m in my closet with Toast.”
“Dean, call 911,” you said, his hand already moving into his pocket. “Someone’s in the house.”
“Y/N, I think they’re upstairs,” she whispered.
“Don’t say a word. I’m right here and Dean’s calling the cops right now. Toast’ll protect you until they get there okay?” you said.
“Y/N, they say they’re already responding to a call your neighbor put in. The cops are there?” said Dean.
“Hello, Elmdale police department. Anyone home?” said a voice through the phone.
“Tessa it’s okay. Those are the police,” you said. “We’ll be home in five minutes okay?”
“Okay,” she said.
“Thanks again,” you said, saying goodnight to the officers. You shut the door after yourself, Tessa sat on the couch with her arms crossed. “Tessa how many times have I told you. At night, you lock the front door. The storm door is broken and has been forever. The front door’s been wide open for hours.”
“I don’t need you to yell at me,” she said.
“Tessa somebody could have walked right on in and-”
“Oh my God, I know,” she said. She stormed upstairs and slammed her door shut, opening it quickly for Toast to come inside before it slammed again.
“I’ve told her so many times,” you said as you paced the family room. Dean walked over and rubbed your arms, kissing your forehead. “Sorry.”
“She made a mistake. Kids make them. So do adults.”
“I know she’s shaken up,” you said. “I shouldn’t have yelled.”
“Yeah but maybe she won’t do it again,” he said. “She’s not the only one shaken up.”
“Yeah, I know,” you said.
“How about I crash on the couch tonight,” he said. “Give you girls some peace of mind.”
“You can sleep in my room,” you said.
“I thought you had a twin sized bed,” he chuckled. “The couch is fine. I want to. I wasn’t just talking about you two either.”
“You’re sweet,” you said.
“Oh I’m very aware,” he said. “Go talk to your sister.”
“There’s blankets in the cupboard under the TV,” you said.
“Thanks, sweetheart,” he said. He kissed you and you headed upstairs, knocking on Tessa’s door.
“Tess. Can we talk?” you asked. The door opened slowly and she had her arms crossed at you. “I’m sorry for freaking out. I got scared too.”
“I’m sorry I forgot about the door again,” she said quietly.
“Tessa, we...we gotta protect ourselves. We gotta make sure we do things like lock doors and windows at night. Two young women alone in a house...I know your mind already went there once tonight. Please, please remember to lock the door from now, okay?”
“Okay,” she said.
“Dean’s gonna stay the night on the couch downstairs,” you said.
“Really?”
“Yeah. Don’t worry. Nothing’s gonna get past him,” you said.
“He seems like a really good guy. You deserve one of those,” she said.
“I think so too,” you said. “Night.”
“Night, Y/N.”
Dean’s POV
“Sammy boy, isn’t it past your bedtime?” chuckled Dean as he answered his phone, watching some late night TV quietly from Y/N’s couch.
“Shut up. How big is the guest room at your house? I was thinking of getting a new bed and just having it delivered there.”
“Oh, you finally gonna get off that tiny ass mattress?” teased Dean.
“De…”
“You can have the spare bedroom at the end. It’s bigger, got it’s own attached bath. Plus it’s empty so win win.”
“Would a king fit?” he asked.
“Probably. I’m not home right now but I can measure tomorrow for you,” said Dean.
“On a hot date?” laughed Sam.
“I was. Y/N’s little sister had a bit of a scare.”
“Everything okay?”
“Yeah, yeah. Kid just accidentally left the front door open and neighbor called the cops, cops came, Tessa heard it and freaked a bit. I’m crashing on the couch for the night. They’re a little shook up still.”
“Well someone’s gonna get some brownie points for that one.”
“Nah, Y/N knows I’m only here cause I want to be, dude.”
“Not at all what I said but whatever. Oh by the way, I got another call from mom today. I let it go to voicemail.”
“What’d she say?” sighed Dean, running his hand through his hair.
“She just like...wanted to say she’s thinking about us, like both of us or some shit.”
“Oh that’s nice. Better late than never, ain’t that right Sammy?” said Dean, rolling his eyes and laying down on the couch.
“Dean. I’m not saying...can I ask why you hate her so much?” Sam asked after a beat. Dean moved the phone away and shut his eyes. He put his head down and let out a deep breathe, moving the phone back. “De.”
“She’s not a good person. You know that. Leave it at that.”
“Did she smack you around too?” asked Sam quietly.
“Dad at least you knew was an asshole. She pretended she wasn’t though and she’s just a bitch that blames her shitty life on us when we turned out awesome. She can get fucked along with him.”
“You didn’t answer the question.”
“Yeah. Block her number Sam. It’s the best thing you can do.”
“You think there’s no chance of anything with her then.”
“Mom’s shouldn’t tell their kids the shit she said to me. Ever. I’m just glad you never got it as much.”
“I punched her in the leg once,” chuckled Sam. “Got my ass spanked but it was worth it.”
“What’d she do?”
“I just remember she made you cry real bad and I got as pissed off as a seven year old could.”
“We got each other’s backs,” said Dean. “All that matters.”
“Tell me about Y/N,” said Sam, Dean shaking his head. “Come on. No more depressing shit. She sounded cute when I talked to her at the game Sunday. I bet she’s cute.”
“She is,” said Dean. “I’m super into her, like super into her, don’t get me wrong but like...I just like her too. Like she’s gorgeous but it’s not like, why I’m attracted? I’m probably not saying this right.”
“I get what you’re saying,” said Sam. “You should totally take her to Mel’s for dinner tomorrow.”
“I really ought to take her to a sit down restaurant before she runs off on me.”
“Mel’s is sit down.”
“Mel’s is greasy burgers and pulled pork at picnic tables.”
“If she doesn’t like Mel’s I can’t like this girl Dean. I’m sorry but those are just facts,” said Sam. Dean rolled his eyes and smiled, staring up at the ceiling.
“We could get the sweetheart special. My cholesterol won’t like it but my soul will,” chuckled Dean. “Really? Mel’s?”
“If that girl doesn’t love the ice box pie at the end, she is certifiable,” said Sam.
“I have faith in this one,” said Dean. He shut his eyes and hummed. “You really want to listen to me talk about her?”
“I got about two hundred pages to sign and stamp. I wouldn’t mind the company.”
“Alright. You asked for it.”

First Man
Summary: you debut a song on stage at the AMAs.
Pairing: Chris Evans x Daughter!Reader, Harry Styles x Popstar!Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“No, I got no clue to what she’s performing,” Chris said to the interviewer and looking at you.
“You’ll just have to wait,” you said.
“POPS!” You both hear.
Chris turns knowing exactly who it is. He opens his arms and hugs his son-in-law who’s in an elaborate suit. You smile.
“I’ve missed you,” Harry exclaimed as your dad cups his face.
“I know, Bubba,” Chris said smiling.
You greet Harry’s mother Anne and sister Gemma whilst your dad and husband hug each other like long lost lovers. It took awhile for your dad to warm up to Harry but after seeing the way his only daughter and only child was being treated warmed his heart. It took some convincing from you as well. Chris couldn’t let just anyone marry his little girl.
Yes I'm gonna stay with him tonight
I'll see you in the mornin'
No of course, he won't drink and drive
Chris immediately gets teary eyed seeing you onstage in a gown at a grand piano with spotlight shinning down. He hasn’t heard this song and neither has Harry as he hears you singing. It brings Chris back some memories.
“No, I’m gonna be with him tonight,” you said into the phone.
“Excuse me? Who’s this boy? Is it Tyler? Adam? Tom? If you’re back with Holland, I’m gonna fuckin—.”
“No, Daddy. It’s somebody else. I’m not dating one of your costars. That was a mistake.”
Chris sighed and said, “be careful. Don’t drink and drive.”
“No, of course not,” you said.
“Call me if anything happens, I’ll be there, comet.”
“I know, Daddy. I’ll see you in the morning.”
Oh you'll like him, he's really kind
And he's funny like you sometimes
And I found someone I really like
Maybe for the first time
Chris sniffles and tries his hardest to keep it together especially with a camera pointed at him and Harry. He focuses on the stage where you’re singing.
“Daddy, please! You’ll really like him. He’s really kind,” you said. “And he’s funny like you sometimes.”
“Excuse me?! My jokes are killer all the time, Comet! —Knock, knock,” your dad said truly offended.
“Come in,” you said.
He gives you one look and you start running. He runs after you growling. You scream when he grabs you and lifts you off the ground.
“Have I taught you nothing?!” Chris exclaimed. “We’re gonna try this again, Miss Thing.”
“Oh Jesus,” you rolled your eyes and you can’t help but smile.
“Knock, Knock,” he said.
“Who’s there?” You asked playing along.
“Boo,” he said still holding you tightly not wanting to let you escape.
“Boo, who?” You said confused.
“Aww, munchkin, don’t cry,” your dad said pressing a kiss to your cheek. “It’s just a boy. No need for crying over him.”
You laughed and said facing him, “but Daddy. He’s really good to me. And I think I really found someone I really like— maybe for the first time.”
He can’t help but frown and narrow his eyes.
“Who is he?” He asked.
“His name is Harry,” you said smiling.
No I don't need a jacket
It's not that cold tonight
And you worry, I get it
But he's waiting outside
“Grab a jacket!” Chris yelled at you before you can leave.
“It’s not that cold,” you said as he comes over to you from the kitchen. “And I’m 21, Dad.”
“I know how old you are. I was there and I know you’re a popstar and I—,” he said.
“And you worry, I get it,” you said.
“Yes, so grab a jacket, comet,” he said pointing to the hallway.
“But he’s waiting outside, Daddy,” you said.
“And he can wait longer. Also, you still live under my roof which I don’t get when I know you’re making a shit ton of money off of your music,” Chris said.
“You know they’re still renovating my house,” you said. “And I’m pretty sure you like having your own daughter around again.”
Chris scoffs and shoos you back down the hallway. He knows you’re right. He loves having you around even if you both get very busy with work. It’s nice to know you’re around safe and sound.
You’re quick to put a leather jacket over your outfit. He follows you out without hesitation. You give him a look but he’s got his murder glare.
“Hey, I was thinking that I got the wrong house,” the Brit said as you get in and he’s got the windows down.
Chris looks into the car and you said, “dad, this is Harry. Harry, this is my dad.”
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, sir,” Harry said.
“Comet, didn’t you have a poster of him on your wall with some other boys?” Chris asked looking at you.
“DAD!” You looked at him mortified.
“It was One Direction, right?” Chris said.
“Yeah, but we split off into different directions,” Harry said.
“But she didn’t like you,” your dad said. “It was a different one.”
“Was it Liam?” Your boyfriend asked.
Chris shook his head and said, “it was the dude with the bleach blonde hair.”
“Oh, Niall. He’s a cheeky little Irish fucker. I don’t blame you, Y/n,” Harry said.
You try getting out of the car to get away from the embarrassment but Harry locks the doors on you. Chris smiles a bit.
“Have fun, comet,” Chris said pressing a kiss to your temple as you hide your face into your hands.
He steps away from the car and threatened, “I’ll fucking destroy you, Harry, if you hurt my little girl.”
“Wouldn’t dream of it, Mr. Evans,” Harry responded honestly.
I swear on my heart
That he's a good man
I know you'll stay up late
Just waiting for me
“You should be asleep, Daddio,” you said putting your arms around his shoulders.
“Had to make sure you got home safely, munchkin,” Chris said putting a hand over your forearms.
“But you’ve got a plane to catch in the morning,” you said. “And he’s a good man.”
“He was in a boyband, Y/n,” he said.
“He’s in a man-band now,” you said with a giggle.
Chris can’t help but laugh as he stood up from his spot on the couch.
“I still don’t trust him,” your dad said making you frown.
You held me so tight
Now someone else can
But you were the first man that really loved me
You looked to the crowd with a tear rolling down your cheek. Your dad is openly letting the tears stream down his own cheeks. Harry smiles at you with tears of his own building up. He knows it’s about him and your dad but mainly your dad.
Now you're driving to the airport
Not just me you pick up anymore
I've got eight days off coming up
And I can only come home for four
Yeah I just met his family
“Harold,” Chris said.
“Mr. America!” Harry exclaimed throwing his arms around your dad.
You smile happily at your dad and he gives in hugging your boyfriend. He hugs you next and kisses your cheek before helping Harry load your bags into the car. There’s not much— only your carry-ons. It’s a short trip to Boston so everyone can meet Harry and you can spend time with your dad.
“How was London?” Your dad asked as Harry is outside playing with your cousins.
“I met his family,” you said.
“So, it’s getting serious?” He asked.
You nod your head. It breaks his heart but he won’t tell you that.
He makes me really happy
I think he might be the one, oh
I swear on my heart
That he's a good man
I promise he loves me
He'd never hurt me
You held me so tight
Now someone else can
But you were the first man that really loved me
“I promise you! He makes me really happy, Daddy,” you said.
Chris scoffs. You’ve always been a pretty happy kid and even with a chaotic life you live, you’re sunshine peaking through the clouds on a rainy day or more like a shining star around a world of darkness. No boy or man will change that. You’ll cry for a week or so over them and your dad will be there to comfort you or at least try to.
“Dad,” you said.
“Come here,” your dad said seeing you aren’t too happy with him.
You plop down next to him and he pulls you into his side.
“I worry,” Chris said.
“You always do,” you mumbled.
“Yeah it’s my job as you’re my daughter. I don’t want you with an undeserving man of you,” he admitted. “You deserve the best.”
“I think he might be the one,” you said.
“You sure?”
You nod your head.
“Well, shit,” he said.
“Dad,” you said.
“You’re growing up on me, comet.”
Now you're on the driveway
Faking a smile
You wish you could tell him he doesn't deserve me
So I had to stop the car and turn around
To tell you, you were the first man that really loved me
Your dad wants to yell at Harry and tell him to stay the fuck away from you because nobody is good enough for his little girl. But Chris bites his tongue and smiles from the driveway as Harry drives off with you.
“Wait! Stop the car!” You exclaimed.
Harry does and you’re quickly out the car. You run to your dad and into his arms.
“You know I love you, right?” You said.
“Yes, comet,” Chris said.
“You’ll always be the first man I love,” you said. “He’s just in second place.”
“HEY! I heard that!” Harry yelled making your dad smile.
“Shut it, loser!” Your dad yelled back.
And before they open up the doors
I say I've never seen you cry before
You say "You've never looked so beautiful
You know you'll always be my little girl"
You're looking at me, while walking down the aisle
With tears in your eyes, maybe he deserves me
“I don’t think I’ve seen you cry before,” you said.
“Only when you aren’t looking, bubs,” your dad sniffled adjusting your veil. “And you’ve never looked so beautiful.”
“Dad,” you said.
“You know, you’ll always be my little girl, Y/n,” Chris said. “My little shooting star.”
You nod your head with tears streaming down your cheeks. Your dad hugs you tightly.
“You sure you wanna do this?” He asked.
“Yes,” you said.
“Alright, just let me know ‘cause I’ll drive you outta here and we can watch Disney movies at home,” Chris said holding you still.
You shake your head no and said, “he’s the one, Daddy.”
Chris smiles at your words and said, “we can’t keep him waiting any longer.”
“Yeah, we can’t,” you said.
The doors open and you take your dad’s arm. You both start walking down the aisle. Chris can’t help but smile looking at you as you look at Harry. Your eyes sparkle looking at your soon to be husband. Maybe Harry isn’t that bad.
You don't even know how much it means to me now
That you were the first man that really loved me, that really loved me
You really love me
You’re quick to get off stage and go to your dad who’s in the first row with everyone. Chris stands up just as quickly. You go into his arms and wrap your arms around his waist. Everyone cheers and applauses for you.
“Fuckin’ shit, comet,” your dad whispered into your ear and holds you tightly as you cry into his chest. “I wasn’t expecting that at all.”
“I love you, Daddy,” you said.
“I know. I love you too,” he said wiping away your tears.
“And I love you both,” Harry said putting his arms around you both.

Cake By The Ocean | frat!Chris Evans x reader
summary: fraboy au.  college parties.  beach shenanigans.  blame @ballyhoobarnes
warnings: fingering, mention of oral sex (m receiving), overstimulation, verryyy light dub con if you squint??
shitty moodboard provided by me c:
Tumblr media
Chris was the worst thing about mixers, hands down.
Honestly, you hated everything about mixers.  Your sisters were at their most annoying, magically transforming from educated, classy women into the most desperate of ‘pick me’ girls, clinging onto any Zeta guy they could get their hands on.  What bothered you wasn’t that they flirted with the guys, it was that they dumbed themselves down to do so.  That plus an overcrowded house, shitty drinks from plastic cups, and having to clean up everybody’s mess the next day, and you really just did not want to go to another co-ed event.
But Katie M. and Katie B., the sorority president and vice president respectively, decreed in their all-knowing power that every soror must attend five night-time events a year and you had procrastinated so hard that you had to attend every single one in May to avoid getting kicked out.  The scholarships were too good to lose.
That didn’t mean you had to mingle, though; you were happy to hide in a secluded corner and look like you were doing something important.  In this case, it was stacking and unstacking cups.  Hopefully nobody watched you long enough to notice that you weren’t actually helping set up the drink table.
But of course, he had to show up.  He had this instinct where he could sense you minding your own business and enjoying your life, and he just had to appear and annoy you.
“Hey,” Chris’ voice wafted to your ear from behind you.  You felt his hand slip onto your waist loosely.  That was all he had to say to you?  ‘Hey’?
You ignored him, mainly because you had absolutely no idea what to say.
“Bein’ cold isn’t gonna keep me away,” he informed you, leaning in closer.
“Do you have any other suggestions then?” you frowned.
His mouth was so close to your ear now that you could smell the booze on his breath.  “Been thinkin’ about you.  I know you’ve been avoiding me.  But it hasn’t made me forget.”
“Me either, sadly,” you groaned.
“I know you get wet when you think about it,” he purred.  “I betcha think about it at night, remembering how good it felt to just let go--”
You spun around and pushed him back.  “Chris, everybody makes mistakes.  Like when the Nazis invaded Russia in the winter.  Or when your mom decided to keep it after your dad put on the condom wrong.  Or, worst of all, when we got drunk and had sex over half a year ago.  It’s okay!  Accidents happen.  But it’s best to leave them--” you rested your hand on his shoulder, giving your best comforting-but-stern look-- “in the past.”
“The best mistakes are made at least twice,” Chris grinned.  “How do you think I ended up with a little sister?”
In spite of your desperate attempt not to, you cracked a smile.  At least he could take a joke.
“Go enjoy the party,” you suggested, “talk to any of the other girls-- I bet a lot of them will find your offer more appealing.”
“I don’t wanna talk to them,” he frowned, “I wanna talk to you.  You’re interesting.”
“And they’re not?”
“I would never diss your sisters,” he raised his arms, “but you’re definitely my favorite Delta.”
“You have strange taste,” you shuddered.
“That I do,” he nodded wistfully, “that I do.”
~
You were cooped up in your room, surrounded by open text books and uncapped highlighters.  A final on Monday meant you needed to prepare all weekend.  You didn’t even look up when you heard a knock on your door; you just called out that it was open so they could come in.
“Good news!” Katie B. beamed as she popped her head around the door.  “Zeta invited us to a beach party tomorrow!”
“Why do you think that’s good news for me?” you wondered, furrowing your brow in confusion.
“Uh, because away events count for two night-time events in your attendance calendar?”
Ehh, you didn’t need to study all weekend, right?
~
Hoping to get your boost on your attendance record but disinterested in actually participating in any meaningful way, you decided you were going to tan, mainly because it utilized two of your greatest talents: laying down, and doing nothing.  After a hefty layer of sunscreen was applied to whatever your bikini didn’t cover, you settled in on the little rubbery chair with your over-sized sunglasses and some bluetooth earbuds to jam with.
The sun warmed your skin until you felt so relaxed that you honestly considered falling asleep.  Thankfully your earbuds blocked out the sounds of Zeta-Delta partying down the beach, even when the volleyball game got a little rowdy.
Sadly, you were pulled from your relaxed state when a shadow blocked your sun, and you hesitantly opened your eyes behind the dark plastic of your shades.  Squinting, you saw his tattoo first, and you knew it was Chris come to taunt you.
“You’re blockin’ my rays, Evans,” you frowned.
He spun the volleyball in his hands, smirking playfully.  “I came over here to ask if you wanted to play.  It’s shirts vs skins.”
“Let me guess, you always play skins?” you quipped, quickly scanning his muscled torso which was so cruelly exposed.  Did he have to look so good?  Did it have to remind you of the way those muscles flexed as he was thrusting--
“Unfortunately for me, I bet you always play shirts,” he chuckled, interrupting your train of thought just in time.  “If no volleyball, how about a swim?”
You pulled out your other earbud and put them back in their case, realizing he wasn’t going away any time soon.  “Chris, tell me, what is it that makes you think I want to be anywhere near you?  Seriously, tell me, so I can stop doing it.”
“Sure, right now you’re acting pretty icy,” he explained, kneeling down in the sand beside your chair, “but I remember when you couldn’t keep your hands off me… when you got on your knees for me…”
You wanted to interrupt him but your throat was suddenly too dry, and your thighs were clenching together.
“When you begged me not to stop…” he continued, leaning closer, his hand grabbing your knee suddenly, slowly trailing up your thigh.
“Chris,” you whispered, just under your breath-- but it turned into a gasp when his arms wrapped around you and he picked you up.  “Put me down!” you yelped.
“I think you need to cool off, babe,” he grinned.  “A little water might do the trick, huh?”
Your screams of protest were lost to the wind as he started running, effortlessly carrying you to the water’s edge.
Soon, he was knee-deep and you were pulling yourself up into him as you tried to avoid the water.  “I swear to god if you drop me,” you began.
“I won’t, okay?” he assured, slowly calming down as you let your legs hesitantly reach past the water’s surface.  It was cold at first, but then it was relaxing against your heated skin.
As he set you down in the water, his arms naturally slid to your waist, and yours to his shoulders.  And then you were looking up at him and it felt way too right.
“Um, the… the water feels great,” you mumbled.
“Yeah,” he agreed in a low, husky voice, “yeah, feels amazing.”
Those words in that voice brought back some specific memories.
He was so much taller than you that when you were doggy-paddling to stay afloat, he could still walk somewhat normally.  But you didn’t expect him to walk behind you, or wrap his arms over your torso.
“Chris?” you gasped a bit.
“Shh,” he soothed, placing a soft kiss to your ear, then your neck, “you don’t want anyone to hear you.  Then they might look over and realize what we’re doing.”
His hand moved lower, over your stomach and finally to the top of your bikini bottoms.  You shivered, biting your lip as you tried to process everything that was happening.
“Tell me you want it,” he requested, his voice making the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.  “I know you do but, I need to hear you say it.”
“I want it,” you whimpered, “please.  Touch me.”
You felt his smile against your neck as he slipped his fingers under the fabric, instantly finding and teasing your clit.  Your hips bucked a little, disturbing the water around you.  He rubbed it so softly that you would’ve thought you wouldn’t be able to feel it at all, and yet somehow it was making your entire body jolt with pleasure.
“Calm down baby,” he chuckled, “don’t act strange or somebody will see.  And we all know how much you want everyone to know that you want nothing to do with me.”
You whimpered a little, but realized that a small group of Deltas was about to walk by in the water.
“Act natural,” Chris instructed softly, knowing that the water would obscure what you were doing, but you’d forgotten what natural even meant.
“Hey guys,” Parvati smiled, and Gia waved at the two of you.
“Hello ladies,” Chris greeted back with a nod of acknowledgement; you sheepishly smiled and waved, trying to ignore the way Chris’ fingers were moving against you.
You figured they would question why you were sitting on Chris’ lap in the water, but they were oddly accepting of it.  Maybe they were just wondering what took you two so long.
The second the girls were out of earshot, swimming further into the water, Chris started moving his fingers even faster.
“You’re such a dirty girl,” he chuckled darkly, “getting fingered in front of your friends.”
“Wasn’t my idea,” you defended.
“I distinctly remember you begging for it,” he teased, quickly pulling you a little lower into the water so he could grope your breast.  He reached under the triangle of your bikini to get a better feel of it, tweaking the nipple between his thumb and forefinger.
“Fuck, Chris,” you moaned softly.
“Feels good?”
“Yes,” you sighed, “so good, fuck…”
You instinctively tried to push his hand away as your orgasm approached-- it was too much, too strong, and you weren’t sure you could take it.  He’d learned to keep going anyways, otherwise you’d never get off.  And damn if you didn’t secretly love the way that he was too strong to push away.
“Go ahead,” he purred, “let go.  Come for me, babygirl.”
You bit down on your lip as the pleasure reached its peak and crashed, your body spasming as he held you close with his free arm.  “Chris, I’m coming,” you whimpered.
“I know baby, I know,” he groaned, “keep going.”
With his fingers still rubbing firm and fast on your clit, you honestly thought you could scream.  Instead, you grabbed his arm like your life depended on it, your head falling back onto his shoulder.
“Stop, stopstopstop,” you pleaded for mercy, and he granted it as his hand slipped from your bikini bottoms.  “God, you wear me out,” you sighed with exhaustion.
“That’s the goal,” he smiled.
You moved your hips back only to feel the hard shape of his cock pressing into your thigh; you grinned.
“Well, I should probably leave you to your volleyballing,” you announced, standing up and starting to walk away.
“Wh-- I can’t play like this!” he protested, noticeably staying crouched in the water-- you knew that with what he was packing, he had no chance of hiding his boner in those tight swim trunks.  Plus, when they were wet, they would probably cling to it so tight that little would be left to the imagination… why were you salivating all of a sudden?
“Just act natural!” you encouraged him as you continued to walk towards the shore.

Eastern Europe - July, 2009
"If he could learn to love another and earn her love in return by the time the last petal fell, then the spell would be broken. If not, he would be doomed to remain a beast for all time. As the years passed he fell into despair and lost all hope. For who could ever learn to love a beast?"
Mother closed the book, placing it on the bedside table between Auryk's bed and mine. Then, she lowered herself and kissed my forehead like she did every night. Her long, blonde hair tickled my face and left a trace of her sweet lavender fragrance in the air. I giggled.
"Good night, sweetheart," she spoke.
"Good night, momma."
"Cherish your last night as a six years old. Tomorrow you will become a..."
"Princess?!"
"A seven years old girl. The prettiest girl in the village."
"Pffft," Auryk let out a displeased grunt from his bed, covering his head with the pillow to avoid listening another word from the conversation.
"And you too," mother sat by his side on the bed and repeated her nightly ritual of kissing his forehead to wish him a good night too. "You'll become the most handsome and brave warrior in this village. Do you understand?"
"I hope so. Good night, mom."
"Good night, buddy."
Mother left the room, leaving us both in the dark. However, we couldn't sleep. Not because we were thrilled about our incoming birthday party as any regular child, but because we knew our lives were about to change. Seven years old was the age every child from our village was introduced to the truth and started being trained to fight the evil that haunted our lands. Auryk and I spent minutes, or maybe hours, in silence, staring at the ceiling.
"Leena?" He was the first one to speak. "Do you believe a spell can broken? I mean, like a curse?"
"I don't know, Ryk," I answered, feeling my thoughts starting to drift away. "Maybe we're doomed after all. Or... we could learn how to love the beasts."
The birthday parties always happened during the daytime, rules of the village. We could no longer be outside after 6 PM. Mother got help from the other women to prepare the treats and organize the decorations. Auryk was disguised as a pirate and I... I was Belle, from the Beauty and the Beast.
"So, what do you think you will be getting this year?" My best friend Elena asked while we were playing with our dolls. She was about two years older than us.
"I don't know," I shrugged. Being a merchant, my father always returned home with the most unusual gifts: a magical music box, a voodoo doll that had a life on its own or a fragrance that chased away the monsters - and everybody else too. "A new book. I'm hoping for a new book."
It was only by the end of the party Adrian Novak made his entrance. That was the mystery about him. Nobody knew when he would show up, or if he would show up at all. He still had that same annoying smirk on his face. The corner of his mouth holding a cigarette. The months away made his beard grow longer, as well as his dark hair. In the sunlight, the scar above his eye was even more visible.
"Auryk," he shouted, "come here, son. I've got something for ya."
My twin brother, who had been climbing trees with his friends stop frozen in spot for a second. I couldn't tell if he hated or feared that man. Maybe both. He slowly followed father's command, approaching him cautiously.
"Hi, dad."
"Happy birthday, son," father ruffled his dark straight hair with his strong and calloused hand. "It's about time you grow up."
He handed my brother a large package. From our experience, we knew exactly what it was, a shotgun.
"T-Thank you, dad."
"I'll be spending some time at home. Tomorrow we'll start practicing."
Auryk consented. He shot me a quick glance. From our twin bond I could tell my brother was far from happy. When he blew his candles that afternoon, he didn't wish for a weapon. We wished to be a normal child.
"What did you get, Leena?" He asked once we were locked in the safety of our bedroom.
"Pencils and a drawing book. Dad thinks I'm talented."
Not really. Adrian Novak would never allow his daughter to hold a shotgun. That was, according to him, 'a man thing'.
"Good, at least one of us got what they wanted. Happy birthday, sister."
"Happy birthday, brother."
4 Years Later - October, 2013
It wasn't easy to be the weakest of the twins. Although he was born first, Auryk was the tinniest. The one who was always getting sick or getting injured. The one who couldn't hit a single fucking target when he had the alcoholic breath of his father on his neck.
He aimed for a crow, sitting still on a fence. How hard could it be? Even the eldest man from the village could do any better than that.
BANG! He shot again. And missed.
"Again?!" Adrian angered, shoving him hard on the shoulder. "What the hell is your problem, kid?"
"I don't know, okay? This gun... it's heavy!"
"Heavy? And why do you think we've been exercising for all these years, huh?! We do not live in Disneyland, Auryk. We need to fight monsters, abominations. Someday I won't be home and you need to be prepared to protect our people. Do you understand?"
Tears started forming in the corners of the boy's blue eyes. He couldn't cry. Not in front of him. Crying was a sign of weakness and he couldn't be weak. Not right now. Auryk started to think about all the things he could be doing. He thought about the ocean, as he had seen on TV and books. He could feel the warmness of the sun on his skin. The sand between his toes. His mom and sister were also there, of course - they'd carry them with him everywhere. And he would study Math and Physics. There would be no guns, no monsters, no blood, only numbers, only formulas, only theories. He smiled. He no longer felt like crying.
"I'm sorry, dad," kindness was always the answer, his mother said. "But this isn't for me, you know? I don't like it. I... Remember that boarding school my teacher mentioned? I thought maybe I..."
His words were interrupted by a hard slap on his face. Auryk could taste a small amount of blood coming out from his lower lip.
"So that's what you want? To become one of those little fancy fags? Maybe you're not my son after all."
Adrian started walking away, leaving his son alone, sitting on the floor.
"I AM!" Auryk yelled, enraged. "I am your son."
"Then prove it."
"You shouldn't take so hard on him," Savannah poured her husband a cup of tea. "He's just a boy."
"He's eleven years old, for god's sake," the husband punched the table strong enough to make it shake. "He needs to man up a bit. You should stop spoiling him."
As I left my bedroom I found my brother sitting on the stairs. He didn't have to be so close to listen to the conversation between our parents, father's voice was loud enough to echo through every wall of our small and cozy home.
I sat down by his side, wrapping an arm around his shoulders.
"Maybe you should do it, Leena. You'd do it better, I know."
"I'm not so sure. Remember when I tried to shoot a scarecrow and almost shot that old witch?"
"Come on, you aimed on purpose! I know."
Auryk finally let out a small laugh at the memory.
"You're good at everything, Leena," he spoke fondly. "You're an extrovert, you're everybody's friend, you can cook, you can draw and paint... you're a true artist. I'm a mistake."
"You're not a mistake, Ryk," I pulled my brother closer, resting my cheek against the side of his face. "We're only at the wrong place and you know it."
Going back to our bedroom, we pulled from the drawers the postcards our grandma Louise sent us from San Diego. Mom had been born in California and lived there her entire life, until she met father during one of his trips. God knows what made her fall in love with that man. Adventure? Danger? I expected better from myself when I turned eighteen. Otherwise, I'd never want to fall in love. Love could be my ruin, just like my mom's.
"Leena..." Auryk held the postcard tightly, "do you think... if he died... do you think mom would take us to nana's home?"
"I don't know, Ryk," I didn't want to think of my father's possible death. But I also dreamed of a better life. "Maybe."
"What the hell?" Father's voice in the kitchen made me jump in fear. I knew that tone. I grew up used to that. Something was wrong in the village. We had to hide.
"To the basement, now!" He emerged at the bedroom, holding a rifle. "Lycans were seen surrounding the area."
We barely had any time to react, mom came and dragged us both to the basement. Father left, carrying his arsenal of weapons as usual. There were other hunters in the village but we always knew how badly it could end. Somebody could always get seriously hurt. Or worse.
The basement had been carefully prepared for that kind of situation years before. It had a big bed, two armchairs, a heating source, some stored food and a shelf. Mom sighed and forced a smile.
"So," she walked to the shelf, "what is it going to be today?"
"Frankenstein," Auryk suggested. My brother loved mystery and horror. As if his life hadn't enough of it.
"Romeo and Juliet," I spoke. There was something about forbidden romance that always caught my interest.
"Okay. I... I'm gonna say a prayer and you two can read the books you picked by yourselves. What do you think?"
"Great!"
Mom kneeled down by the bed's side, holding a crucifix. I could join her if I wanted to, but I'd rather watch in silence. I grabbed my book, sitting on one of the armchairs and pretending to pay attention, while I tried to distract myself from the fact my father could be the Lycans' next prey. Or all of us, if they managed to break into our house.
"Leena?" I woke up hours later with my mom shaking me. "Leena?! Where's Auryk? Where's your brother, Leena?"
I had no idea. I had fallen asleep and apparently, so did mom. She checked for the basement's door, it had been locked from outside.
"No..." she tried to force it open. "No! I can't be..."
All Auryk had to do was to successfully kill and take a Lycan's carcass as a trophy to his father, right? That was what that old douchebag wanted him to do, to prove his courage, his manhood. We had his shotgun, a binoculars and a knife, that should be enough, but first, he needed a good plan.
Looking down to his hands, he had the most perfect idea. Without thinking twice, he sliced a cut through his palm, letting some blood pour on the ground. Then, he found a tall tree. He climbed it and observed. The smell of blood his trail left behind should be enough to attract a creature.
"Come on... come on..."
From a distance, Auryk could hear the sound of destruction and death. There was a battle going on somewhere nearby. Once again Lycans should have found a family or a group of hunters.
And then, he could hear it. The heavy footsteps, the screeching sounds, the sniffing. The mutant creature was only a few meters away from the tree. He aimed, but it was still too distant. He needed to move to a closer branch.
It all happened in one second. He was almost there, reaching for the spot he had picked, but his weight was too much for the tree's branch. In a blink of an eye, he was lying on the ground. His vision was blurred. His head hurt intensely, as well as his arm. It was broken for sure. He possibly had a concussion too. He tried to stand up and run but his legs wouldn't follow his commands. The Lycan was coming straight at him.
"AURYK!" His mother screamed behind him. "NO!"
Time seemed to freeze in that fraction of second. How did she manage to escape the basement? How could she have found him?
But without hesitation, Savannah threw herself on top of her son, protecting him from the jaws and claws of the monster. Auryk couldn't see much, but he could smell it. He could feel it. Blood. There was blood everywhere. He couldn't tell who it belonged to, he or his mom's.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
A fast sequence of shots suggested the hunters had found them. The creature stopped moving, stopped howling. It was finally dead.
"M-Mom... it's dead. We... We're safe."
She didn't answer. Instead, he heard another familiar voice.
"WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?!" It was from his father. "Savannah! Savannah!"
"D-Dad..." Auryk tried to speak, but the words got lost along the way. "I... I..."
Adrian lifted him by his jacket, holding him inches above the ground.
"YOU KILLED HER! YOU KILLED YOUR MOM, YOUR STUPID BASTARD!"
"I..." tears streamed down the boy's face, his injured brain trying to process what had just happened. "I'm sorry.'
After he was thrown back to the ground, he was hit with a hard kick on his stomach. He turned his head around to notice a small figure hiding behind a tree, watching the whole scene in pure horror.
"L-Leena..." he muttered.
"This is all your fault, Auryk. You're a disgrace to this family."
And then, he passed out. Rumors said he was unconscious for days or maybe weeks. When he woke up, he wished everything had been a nightmare.
Present Days - July, 2021
Nobody mourned Adrian Novak when he died. Not his children. Not his village mates. No human being would ever feel any sympathy for a man who abused and blamed his eleven years old son for his mother's death. It had been two years since Adrian left this world and I couldn't feel any more free.
"Hey," I left another message on my brother's voicemail, "in case you've forgotten it's our birthday today. I'd like to have my twin home, you know? Call me when you get this message."
It was useless, I knew. Auryk would only pick up his phone when he wanted to. Or when he was too drunk. God knew where that guy would be at that time, probably waking up at some girl's bed or getting some rest from... working.
After grabbing myself a cup of coffee, I checked the door's mat. Bills, bills, newspaper and... California Institute Of Arts? I remember having an argument with Auryk about this matter at some point. He wanted me to fill the application and send them my portfolio. I insisted we had no money, not even to pay for the tuition. I won - I always win every argument by the way.
"Your damn son of a..." I placed the envelope on the kitchen's table. I was a coward, I confess. However, I didn't know which pain was worse - to be sure I wasn't good enough or to be sure I was, indeed, but I'd never have money to leave that hellhole. Anyways, I decided to leave it alone. I had more important things to do.
My morning routine: to go to the middle of the woods and do some training. My father used to say fighting wasn't a girl thing, but I was no regular girl. And never in this life I'd allow someone to tell me what to do.
After running, climbing and doing a set of push-ups, it was time for combat training. Travelers from abroad taught me some different set of moves, I'd like to think I created my own fighting style. I was also very good with knifes, daggers or any kinds of short blades, they were useful during a close distance combat. My shooting was a work in progress, once or twice I'd miss the center of my handmade targets.
Then, like everyday, I'd go back home, shower and follow to my shift at the village's pub.
"Hiya, Leena," Gustav greeted me when I arrived. "I heard today is a special day... the day a little girl..."
"NO!" I stopped him. Gustav was my best friend. We had known each other since we were children and somehow, he liked to make my birthday a special - and embarrassing - event.
He placed a handmade fairytale-like book on the table. There were some edited pictures, mixed with some messed up drawings about my birth and childhood. He called it 'The Princess Who Carried The Light'.
"God, you're soooo stupid..." I rolled my eyes and moaned, before wrapping him into a very tight hug. "I love you, you know that?"
"I know. You'd probably marry me, if you weren't into girls."
We laughed together, as Olga, our boss emerged from the kitchen, bringing a cake with nineteen candles.
"Here's to another year," the older woman opened a wrinkled smile, "make a wish, my darling."
I fell pensive for a moment, besides having my twin brother back home, safe and sound, what else could I wish for? California, that scholarship, a new life... that's for sure.
"I wish for... a new life, a new adventure," I pronounced aloud while blowing the candles.
"Careful," a male voice spoke behind me, "words have power, little sister. You may get what you want."
"Ryk!"
I jumped straight to my brother's arms. I could swear that in only a few weeks he had gotten a little bit taller, and stronger too.
"I wouldn't miss my own birthday, right?" He smirked. "So, where's the cake? Please, chocolate... tell me it's chocolate."
"Your silly boy," Olga spread some icing on his nose. "Of course it's chocolate, as you love. And with cherries too."
Auryk responded with a satisfied smile. Olga and her husband, Kristoff, were those responsible for taking care of him after the Lycan attack, years ago. They sort of adopted him like one of their biological children.
"Oh!" The woman exclaimed taking a closer look at Ryk's forearm. He had gotten a tattoo. I hadn't been informed of those news either. Apparently, my brother had more secrets than I could even start to imagine. "This is... new. It seems like my kids are really growing up."
"And only now you noticed that, Olga?" Gustav joked.
Olga shook her head, grinning at herself and returned to the kitchen. The customers were starting to fill the pub. I stared at Ryk again, wondering what other secrets my brother could be keeping.
"So, what does that mean?" I pointed to his newly gotten tattoo, a strange and ancient symbol it seemed.
"Protection from the evil. This is what we need the most in our lives, especially in a place like this. What reminds me -" we turned around, taking a small box from the pocket of his jacket. "Your gift."
I took the black velvet box from his hands, it contained a golden necklace with a magenta gemstone as pendant. My blue eyes drowned themselves in the stone. It had a mysterious glow. Something hypnotizing. Something magical.
"Whoa..." was everything my mouth could pronounce. "And I bought you an Astronomy book."
Auryk stood up from his chair and went behind me, taking the necklace from my hands to wear it around my neck himself.
"This is supposed to protect you from any supernatural and inhumane beings. I won't lose you to them, Aleena. Not like I lost mom."
"Ryk, I... I can't even thank you enough."
"You don't have to. Just... stay alive."
First, I was overflowing with happiness. It either had to do with the fact my brother was home, alcohol, or both. Also, Olga should thank me. Most of the costumers of the day only stopped by the bar because of me. They absolutely loved me and knowing it was my birthday, they had to come and see me. A few of them even gave me some extra tips or a small gift, which was even greater.
"Okay, party girl..." Auryk helped me to get inside of the house as I tripped over the door mat. "Time to go to bed now. Don't you think?"
"Come on, Ryk! Have some spirit! You're home, Olga gave me the day off tomorrow, I earned some money..."
"You told Mrs. Hansen you secretly had a crush on her daughter during Middle School, you danced on top of a table, you're gonna get a hangover..."
"Party pooper!"
I threw myself at the couch. Auryk stood in front of me with arms crossed, looking like a father about to give his child a lecture.
"What?!" I yelled. "It's not like you've never been drunk before. Remember when you stole Adrian's..." I started to laugh, remembering the episode.
"When you were going to tell me about this, Leena?" He showed me the envelope. The Art Institute envelope. The one I had been struggling to open.
"Oh! I forgot. My bad, I didn't open it myself yet. I probably didn't get in anyways."
"You did."
I did?
"It's not like we have money to pay for my tuition. Also, how are we supposed to move to California, Ryk? I work at a pub and you..."
"I've gotten more than enough for that. You know that getting out of this place has always been the plan, since we were children. Leena, I've done some big jobs those last few months. I have the money to grant us a comfortable life in California."
"Smuggling, Ryk!" I raised my voice, saying aloud the information that was supposed to be a secret or not. "You've been stealing to grant us this life."
My brother stared at me in silence. I couldn't tell if he felt offended or embarrassed about my words.
"I'm getting out of here, whatever it takes," he ran a hand through his dark hair. "And you are coming with me. In two weeks, we move to United States for your enrollment."
"But..."
What I was trying to protest against? Leaving the village and starting a new life with my brother was everything I always dreamed.
"Look, I promise you," Auryk placed both of his firm hands on my shoulders, "once we settle down, no more smuggling."
"Okay," I sighed. "We leave in two weeks then."
There was a loud knock on the door. Being drunk as I was, I figured out I should have forgotten my purse at the pub. Or it could be a neighbor with some very stupid emergency.
Auryk opened the door and there was a strange looking man standing there. We wore sunglasses and a hat, behind his back he was carrying a giant hammer. According to the rumors and stories I heard from my parents, that was one of the Lords of The Four Houses, Karl Heisenberg.
"Auryk Novak?" He asked.
"Yes, sir."
"Come with me, kid. You've gotten yourself in big trouble."
