This is the prompt that I read/saw.

Jason: so. Are we doing this dog button thing? Cus I think it'd be a great idea. I mean the little guy is obviously smart... *looks at LBJ chewing a bottle cap and occasional smacking it* I mean... He is to share extent. But I men he's a baby so...

Damian: Todd is right father. We should get these buttons, and if they work he can communicate with us.

Bruce: *heavy sigh* okay, yeah. Let's get the button

Dick, Steph, Duke and Tim: WOOHOO

Cass: *fist bumps the air*

Damian and Jasson: *nodding approvingly*

Bruce: okay, so. Each of you get at least 10 buttons, work together and record whatever you deem necessary, but make sure there are no duplicates. Any questions?

Jason: *raises hand*

The last part is what you see in the little video in the post this is inspired by. Hope you liked it. Because I did this at 00:49/finished , with the ned to be awake in 6 hours and 11 or so mintiuts. So yeah. Fun. And also heavily sleep deprived cus yes. And read over everything a million times and found a spelling mistake every time. Idk if there is any left. I'm too tired to check again. So if there is. Sorry. Not surry. I'm too tired to care right now and my brain is so foggy rn that I'm daily certain auto correct is doing most the spelling at this worint. 👍

I don't know where it came from, but several years ago this idea popped into my head unbidden, and for some reason it tickles me. I don't know if it's funny, but I like it and I made it into a zine, I hope you enjoy it.

It lays out really nicely as 3-up spreads on A4 paper, so you can print, staple and fold it, then cut it into 3 zines. It made it really easy to print up 20 of them to trade at this art social thing I went to

Hii I don’t have a forum account so I can’t post feedback there!

I just want to say I LOVE the setting, the premise, the mysteries (genuinely surprised me a few times), and the ROs. My only critique would be, and I in general don’t have any issues at all with swearing, but for the editing phase I would really suggest cutting out some of the uses of "fuck". It’s just very gratuitous, can read as amateur-ish and characterizes the MC in a fourth-wall-breaking way when it’s used THAT frequently. Eventually my brain started keeping count of how often it was used which broke my immersion because it was on at least every other page, and often times on back to back pages AND often times used several times in the same paragraph and page.

There’s other creative ways to show shock or dread without resorting to using an expletive every time is my suggestion! And I genuinely mean this so so kindly because I enjoyed my playthrough and I think even just that small adjustment would improve the quality of the writing a lot.

Thank you for the polite feedback too. I understand that swearing can have a different effect on immersion for different readers. That said, the excessive use of swears in this story is intentional, and that's why I flagged it clearly on the intro page. It's highly recommended to check it out before you start reading, and adjust your expectations accordingly.

I've been looking into authentic Ancient Egyptian swears to use instead, but since the language has been dead for 2000 years, there isn’t anything available when it comes to everyday speech. The only, scattered few examples are curses from tombs. Those can be quite funny, but they are not the same as casual talk, or a thought process, which is what you're reading in this game, since it was written from a first-person view. If I find some actual Ancient Egyptian words that work, I will be more than happy to use those instead.

At this point, I’m not planning to remove any of the swears unless the CoG company specifically asks me to. In that case, I will do it, of course, but I’ll definitely miss having that layer of expression in the MC's thoughts. Swearing is a natural part of a language for many people around the world. I come from a culture that swears as fluently as a sailor in everyday life. It's not meant to be shocking or edgy. I'm not using it for any kind of effect. It's there because believe it or not, there are people who swear a lot - one could even say 'excessively' -, especially inside their own heads.
