Todd & Blair Shipping Challenge
————————————————
DAY TWENTY-SIX: Favorite Sad Scene
These scenes always make me cry. Todd and Blair are *sooooooooooo* in love here and happy, waiting for their little Starr to be born. Major props to KDP for expertly playing Blair’s underlying fear and grief as if she already knew something was going to happen and they would never be the same again. Of course Todd had to leave her the day after their wedding for *sigh* Marty because he lives in self-loathing and guilt over what he did to her. It is a shame that his decision this day forever affected their love story. Both characters would go on to say this was the last time things were perfect between them, that they were a family. And the decades that followed showed both characters desperately trying to recapture what they had in these scenes. They were even mentioned in the finale on ABC as “things were never the same.” We never did get to see Todd and Blair actually together, happy, LIE-FREE as a family with their children and we never got to see TnB ever go on a honeymoon they deserved. Everything about this was tragic. But god, were they beautiful.

The song playing on the Rodi's jukebox during this scene is Kathy Troccoli's "If I'm Not in Love."

The Byronic Hero Bracket: Qualifying Round Batch H #4
Megatron from Transformers vs. Todd Manning from One Life To Live
Tumblr media
Reasons under the cut (spoilers for both)
(All sources from TV Tropes)
Megatron:
Transformers: More than Meets the Eye: Megatron, of all 'bots. Undeniably a genius, charismatic and a powerful warrior, he's decided that the revolution he espoused has more or less failed and that he's failed, and now has to spend the rest of his life dwelling on where he went wrong on a ship full of people who hate him at best, while feeling the increasing sting of his encroaching age. But he'll still snark at the madness that seems to surround the entire cast.
Todd Manning:
Todd Manning of One Life to Live is kind of a Heel–Face Revolving Door version of this, sometimes a villain, other times a hero, but always Byronic.

the funniest part of any Robin meeting the JL is that every Robin is so distinctly different from the previous one in terms of personality and vibes that the league literally gets backlash. and like, I don't blame them. not to mention that they are non-meta children that dress as a traffic light and fight crime alongside batman in gotham on a nightly basis. i'd also be a bit concerned. Batman, literally The Night of Gotham personified in the League's eyes, coming into a JL meeting: This is Robin, my crime-fighting partner. 11-year-old Dick Grayson, dressed in the brightest primary colours possible, vaguely hidden murder behind those eyes, never stops moving even for a moment: Hi! Superman: That's a child. That's-- Bats that is a child. You let a child--? Batman, deadpan: You try to stop him. Would you rather he try and murder a grown man with a wire?
Batman: This is Robin. 12-year-old Jason Todd, with the biggest grin on his face, about 3 books in his hand, stars in his eyes and a distinct street-kid drawl: Hey!!! Green Lantern: That's ... that's a different child. What?? Jason: I stole his tires :) Batman: Tried to. Jason, stage whispering to the League: basically did. Green Lantern: that is a different kid, right?? I'm not seeing shit??
Batman: This is Robin. 14-year-old Tim Drake, bo staff clutched in his hand, a wary and tired expression on his face, more on the quiet side, the literal walking definition of don't judge a book by it's cover: hello Flash: Where do you even find these-- Tim: I found myself.
Batman: This is Robin. 17-year-old Stephanie Brown, literally blonde, with a shit-eating grin, eyes full of nothing but mischief and the most explosive personality you've ever seen: hiya!! Superman: I give up. Stephanie: I know, I have that amazing effect on people.
Batman: This is Robin. 13-year-old Damian Wayne, a literal wet cat that will hiss at you, has a sword, the most judgemental stare you'll get from a teenager, ready to jump anyone there: Green Lantern: WHY DOES HE HAVE A SWORD?! Batman: ... he came with the sword.

Was doing something unrelated but
Can you imagine a world where nobody knows the batkids are actually Batman's children and hence, when they hear them yelling at each other "I'll report this to Batman!" They think it's actually serious team discussion
And they don't know that for them it literally translates into "I'm telling dad!"
Like, You see Nightwing arguing with Red Hood and going "Oh, i'm SO reporting this to Batman"
"OH NO, YOURE NOT"
"YES I AM"
And everyone else thinks this is serious? And it could affect Hood's status as an ally?
But really is just Dick telling his little brother he's snitching about his broken arm to their dad-
Or you see Red Robin trying to bribe Robin and Spoiler "I'm reporting your actions to Batman"
"Yeah, gotta start the report about it, and he's going to be so-"
"... How much?"
And they smile maliciously, and anyone else thinks RR did something REALLY bad but it's just that he exceeded his weekly allowed coffee and his sibblings found out
Because they also do it to other people, like Tim does it to Supes when he's arguing with Kon-

Dick: “Hey, Jason—Where did all this money come from?”
Jason: “From B.”
Dick: “He gave it to you? For what? Did you blackmail him?”
Jason: “No, he paid me, in exchange for very important pictures.”
Dick: “Oh, you got evidence for the case?”
Jason: “No, Damian’s baby pictures.”
Dick: “…How much?”

Todd & Blair Shipping Challenge

DAY TWENTY-TWO: Favorite Work/Business Scene
I was torn for today’s choice. I wanted to pick something from 1995 because my favorite careers for both of them is when they have their own thing (Blair had Melador, Todd had The Sun) and I’ll never forgive OLTL for taking Blair’s company away (pretty much everything that wasn’t Todd-related let’s be honest) and for making her a *shudder* lounge-singer *shudder* but there were some great moments in 1996 which I consider to be their best year at least work-wise aside from 1995. Plus I felt I had already used enough content from 1995 for this challenge so far - let’s appreciate how unfathomably stunning KDP is here with this adorable hair length and outfit. To the scene itself, I love how this proved not only that Blair was a resounding success taking over The Sun in Todd’s absence, she is also much preferable to have at the helm according to the employees. Todd of course is smack dab in his loathsome phase here, making everyone around him miserable - most of all, Blair - because she dared to exist after his supposed death. He’s pretty unbearable here with his passive aggressive comments that he knows breaks Blair’s heart but I love how formidable she is in these scenes. She convinces Todd to hear out the staff and defends his unconventional methods to the staff and refuses to let Todd push her out of a newspaper she’s at the very least equally-responsible for its creation and success. I also love how these scenes contain all the aspects of that dysfunctional TnB dynamic from friendship to rivals to lovers (deep deep down). Any other woman would have walked the first time Todd slut-shamed her, patronized her, abused her the way Todd does during this time but Blair is so committed to re-creating that dream team they once were pre-Ireland and inch by inch, Todd is warming up the idea during this period of frustrating ANGST.

Interviewer: as a father of many adopted kids from different social backgrounds than your own, what do you have to say about the concept of nature vs. nurture?
Bruce Wayne: well I love all my kids dearly and I’ve tried my best to see that they grown up responsibly so let me tell you-
(News plays footage of Dick swinging on the chandelier at a gala last week)
Bruce: let me tell you I’m just about nurturing a fucking headache at this point

Two things can be and are true at once.
Robin Jason was a sweet, kind kid who cared about victims. He also had righteous rage and violent tendencies towards those he thought deserved it.
Being Robin gave him magic and as Robin he shattered a man's collarbone with no remorse.
