Have YOU got an old Windows PC Microsoft has told you can't run Windows 11? It's time to give it a new life!

How to install Windows 11 on unsupported PC Hardware using Rufus. You can also disable some other Windows 11 bullshit like data harvesting and needing a Microsoft account.

It has been in the news a lot lately that Windows 11 isn't allowed to be installed on PCs without certain requirements, including the TPM 2.0, a chip that was only included in PCs made in 2018 or later. This means that once Windows 10 stops receiving security updates, those PCs will not be able to (officially) run a safe, updated version of Windows anymore. This has led to an estimated 240 million PCs bound for the landfill. Thanks Microsoft! I get you don't want to be seen as the insecure one, but creating this much waste can't be the solution.

(I know nerds, Linux is a thing. I love you but we are not having that conversation. If you want to use Linux on an old PC you are already doing it and you don't need to tell me about it. People need Windows for all sorts of reasons that Linux won't cut.)

So lately I have been helping some under privileged teens get set up with PCs. Their school was giving away their old lab computers, and these kids would usually have no chance to afford even a basic computer. They had their hard drives pulled so I have been setting them up with SSDs, but the question was, what to do about the operating system? So I looked into it and I found out there IS actually a way to bypass Microsoft's system requirement and put Windows 11 on PCs as old as 2010.

You will need: Rufus: An open source ISO burning tool.

A Windows 11 ISO: Available from Microsoft.

A USB Flash Drive, at least 16GB.

A working PC to make the ISO, and a PC from 2018 or older you want to install Windows 11 on.

Here is the guide I used, but I will put it in my own words as well.

Download your Windows 11 ISO, and plug in your USB drive. It will be erased, so don't have anything valuable on it. Run Rufus, select your USB drive in the Device window, and select your Windows 11 ISO with the Select button. (There is supposed to be a feature in Rufus to download your ISO but I couldn't get it to work.?

Choose standard windows installation, and follow the screenshot for your settings. Once you are done that, press Start, and then the magic happens. Another window pops up allowing you to remove the system requirements, the need for a microsoft account, and turn off data collecting. Just click the options you want, and press ok to write your iso to a drive.

From there you just need to use the USB drive to install windows. I won't go into details here, but here are some resources if you don't know how to do it.

If you had a licensed copy of Windows 10, Windows 11 will already be licensed. If you don't, then perhaps you can use some kind of... Activation Scripts for Microsoft software, that will allow you to activate them. Of course I cannot link such tools here. So there you go, now you can save a PC made from before 2018 from the landfill, and maybe give it to a deserving teen in the process. The more we can extend the lives of technology and keep it out of the trash, the better.

Additional note: This removes the requirement for having 4GB Minimum of RAM, but I think that requirement should honestly be higher. Windows 11 will be unusable slow on any system with below 8GB of RAM. 8GB is the minimum I think you should have before trying this but it still really not enough for modern use outside of light web and office work. I wouldn't recommend trying this on anything with 4GB or less. I am honestly shocked they are still selling brand new Windows 11 PCs with 4GB of ram. If you're not sure how much RAM you have, you can find out in the performance tab of Task Manager in Windows, if you click the More Details icon on the bottom right. If you don't have enough, RAM for old systems is super cheap and widely available so it would definitely be worth upgrading if you have a ram starved machine you'd like to give a new life.

Homesteading and the settlement of the American west has always been a particular interest of mine and recently I've become very interested in sod houses! I toyed with the idea of recreating one in Sims but never had a good world or assets to work with. When I fell into my little building bender a few weeks ago I realized Chestnut Ridge was perfect for it and promptly hyperfixated.

This home is ideal for a couple or small family just trying to make their way in the prairie of Chestnut Ridge. The house can fit up to three sims and a baby or toddler, perhaps a bit snug for our modern standards but perfectly alright for the nineteenth century. Also comes complete with fertile fields, an empty chicken coop, a slightly decrepit horse barn, and a well stocked root cellar.

This house is heavily inspired by Prairie Homestead in South Dakota. When I started kicking around the idea of this build I started googling for reference photos and discovered this very cool historic site. I tried to match this build to its real life counterpart more than I usually do, as the interior that they have set up for that house was just so fun and unique feeling. The exterior is inspired by it, but sim lot constraints required more creative license. I highly recommend you look at some photos, it really is such an interesting place.

Sod houses, which were constructed by cutting hunks of the top layer of the grasslands (which were held together by the strong roots of the native grasses) were common throughout the latter part of the nineteenth century and began to peter out in the early part of the twentieth century. They weren't the most luxurious accommodations, but did have the virtue of being warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

Unfortunately as the walls were made from the earth, bugs could be an issue and I've given this lot the creepy crawlies bug challenge for ~realism~. It's also off-the-grid, and has a functional root cellar (meaning I put the fridge down there, have fun in thunderstorms).

This lot is fully playtested (might have been the most I've played in a while actually, I wanted to make sure the crib worked). Please please enjoy this build. I know I always say it but this one is actually my favorite, and making this work with the constraints of Sims 4 terrain tools was quite the undertaking and I'm so pleased with it.

So because IDW lost the TF license before they could finish printing the The Transformers: The IDW Collection, I made a reading guide and compiled the files to pick up where it left for someone, so might as well share.

So the IDW Collection is probably the easiest way to tackle the IDW1 continuity, it compiles all of it in a mix of chronological and publishing order. It starts with some big leaps like, the first comic is the 2007 mini series Megatron Origin, followed by two spotlights from 2008 and 2009, instead of anything from 2005 (when the continuity started), but that sort of thing lessens as it goes on. There are still some placements I wouldn't have done like that, but really, the whole thing is comprehensible, it includes everything you need, and is much easier to just read every volume in order from beginning to end that switching between however many comics. Plus, if you read a comic file in CDisplayEx, it will open on the page you were at last time you close it, so the 300+ pages per volume are not a problem.

The Internet Archive has all of Phase 1 and Phase 2 available for download as cbr files and you can download Phase 3 here. Or if you prefer to read them online (and have a good adblocker), here is Phase 1, Phase 2 and Phase 3.

As for the rest of Phase 3, on this drive link you will find a text file with the reading order (plus where to read it online) and a zip file that contains all the listed comics numbered in cbr/cbz files.

I hope this preview is intriguing enough :D Since all this is pretty new, I'll just include colors that I've released for my CAS BGs so far. A more detailed info coming in the future, and of course, more color variations!

Reshade: any version should work fine (preferably newer) as long as you have the full add-on support installed, which will be used by 2 things:

ShaderToggler: allows you to hide the CAS background mesh & mirrors so that you can use this shader without it cutting into those.

REST: clears UI of any reshade shaders & prevents certain shaders from affecting alpha textures. If you want the shader to work like a proper BG, this will be necessary.

⚠️ If you had installed these 2 add-ons in the past, I've updated both posts so you'll need to reinstall the whole thing. Fixed crashing issue in REST & added toggle groups to hide CAS BG & mirrors in ShaderToggler.

Unlike regular CAS backgrounds, you'll be installing this the same way as you would with Reshade shaders. And just like those, you can do all the things below while the game is running!

Go to reshade-shaders > Shaders > make a custom folder. This will be a place where you can put this (and future) Chromakey shaders together.

In the Reshade panel, add the newly created folder under the Effect search paths so that it can recognize its contents. I've put mine in "_Nondefault"

DL the edited Chromakey.fx shader and save it in the custom folder.

Reload your Reshade panel. Option should now show up in your shader list!

Use in CAS

Simply change the color settings to whichever color you'd like. For this shader the options are rather limited, but with how editable this file is, it can open up to much more options!

hobie scoffs. "license?! i said i could drive, mate, i aint mention nuthin' 'bout no license!"

♡ hobie's universe is set in the 1970's and living in a dystopian police-state means it's too risky to bring back a phone with him, so he's often left out of spiderkid groupchats. miles still tries to keep him up to date on the latest memes and inside jokes though. they also have their own inside jokes too

♡ hobie wouldn't bring a smartphone with him anyways since he's so mistrusting of tech in general. video games, laptops, and "smart" tech mystify him, and smart watches? forget about it. when miles gets one for christmas one time, hobie clowned on his bf so hard the watch was never seen again

♡ that being said, they love exchanging music often so the only piece of technology hobie ever brings back to his dimension is an ancient half-busted ipod (it was probably rio's at one point) filled with music miles managed to download for him that week. spiderman-ing and living as a homeless teen means hobie doesn't get much time to explore genres outside of the UK punk scene and listening to brand new genres is often a trip! hobie finds out he loves drum n bass, grindcore, industrial techno, UK drill, deep house and 90's hip hop

♡ hobie gets miles to make him cool posters for whatever venue he plans on (or doesnt plan lbr) playing at every now and then

♡ rio LOVES hobie. hobie is the perfect gentleman (gentlespider?) around her and often tries to help her around the house when he can. miles... does not enjoy how much his mom favors his partner. jeff is also not so crazy about this smart-mouthed punk

♡ miles and hobie absolutely swap clothing as often as possible, with hobie "borrowing" miles' clothes more often. miles' parents keep commenting on how much of a rockero he looks with all the punk stuff and hobie never returns clothes without having altered them in some way (pins n bits everywhere, a mysterious rip or two here n there, pinned-up sleeves, etc)

♡ miles is absolutely horrible at cooking and feels left out when he sees hobie helping his mom in the kitchen. he desperately tries to learn, but it's a wonder how he hasnt sliced his fingers off yet trying to peel and cut platanos so they can make tostones

♡ for a person who's built like a lamppost, hobie is shockingly graceful with his movements. he always slips around a room like a cat and miles is so jealous of that. long gangly limbs should be a deterrent from moving like That and yet here he is, practically pirouetting around miles for fun

♡ which is a total TRIP when they go out swinging around a city. once the mask is on, every movement hobie makes is chaotic, frantic and unpredictable. spiderpunk and hobie are very different people sometimes

♡ miles almost never gets permission to sleep over other friends' houses but on the rare occasions he does, he leaps into portals and goes to visit hobie in his dimension. his fave part of New London is hobie's boat, bc they set up a big hammock for them to lay in, feeling the sway of the boat and letting it lull them to sleep. not to mention that the boat itself is totally badass, and hobie more often than not encourages miles to cover it in graffiti

♡ Mindset : I downloaded a new journaling app from Apple it is so cuteee and I love that when I make my journal entries I can make mini vision boards when I add pictures to go along with my journal entries. Especially when I do my higher self journal prompts. I’ve been listening to podcast I try to listen to three self improvement podcast episodes a week. Leo Skepi is one of my favsss he keeps it so real and I love how open he is about his own journey that he is going through.

♡ Health : my discipline when it comes to food has gotten so much better after Ramadan. I have my days of course but they aren’t like before now I am truly shifting my mentally from “living to eat” to “eating to live” and I love it because I truly love the fact that yes I’m dropping pounds and inches but eating the way I have had definitely helped with my skincare journey.

♡ Self Care : setting boundaries with myself and sticking to them is one of the best forms of self care. Whether you’ve just received a long list of textbooks you need for a specific uni class or are looking for a particular book/research paper for a high school project, books (and journal subscriptions) can be expensive.

The good news is that there are plenty of resources online where you can find free PDF versions of most written materials, starting with Atkinson & Hilgard’s Introduction to Psychology and ending with Shakespeare’s Macbeth.

Note that although some of the websites below provide access to copyright-free texts only, or texts that publishers/authors have agreed to share freely, others have been accused of internet privacy.

However, many people see open access practices as morally acceptable, especially considering the unsustainable prices of academic textbooks and papers.

The site also hosts general-interest books, audiobooks, comics, magazines, and images.

Z-Library is another shadow library website that hosts college textbooks, scholarly journal articles, and general-interest books. It calls itself “the world’s largest e-book library.” It mirrors Library Genesis.

Summary: Before officially becoming an Avenger you have to shadow each member of the team. On your shadow mission with Natasha you give yourself an extra mission, to make her smile.

As a new recruit to the Avengers, you had to shadow each of them on a mission before being cleared to for any official Avenger business. Today you were shadowing Natasha on an intel mission.

It seemed simple enough, get in, download the data onto a USB and get out. A mission you could definitely handle. So, you weren't really worried about that. You were however worried about going on the mission with Natasha. You've been staying at the Compound for about two months now and you have not once seen Natasha smile around you. That and her general coldness towards you makes you believe she doesn't like you all that much.

That's why you decided you'd give yourself a mission within the mission; to make Natasha smile.

Which proved to be even harder than you had originally imagined. She wouldn't budge, at all. As a response to most of your jokes, that you yourself found rather hilarious, she just rolled her eyes and moved with the conversation.

Natasha parked her car somewhere hidden behind the bushes, close to the building that was supposed to have the data you were looking for and told you to get behind her. You immediately complied and waited for her next instruction. Once Natasha gave the all clear the both of you started walking towards the building. You stayed at her hip with your weapon drawn. You move down the halls, trying to find the right room. You had the map and Natasha had told you to give the directions, making sure you knew how to read them properly.

You finally made your way to a room in the basement with an electronic lock. It definitely looked like they were hiding something in here. Natasha aims one of her widow bites at the system and it instantly fries. After a quiet click the lock is disarmed and you head in. Natasha in front with you right behind her.

Once you've cleared the room Natasha finds the port to download the needed intel. Now it was just a waiting game, until the data was fully downloaded onto the USB. Natasha had you stand guard at the door and told you to notify her if you saw anything suspicious.

You didn't and managed to download the data without any interruption. You head back out the way you came in, checking your surroundings for any sign of another person, but again no movements around you. Like you had thought, an easy mission.

You got back in the car and Natasha started driving away. Right as you passed the first corner you noticed a car starting and driving as well. You took a mental note of the license plate and kept your eye out for it. And sure, enough a couple blocks later it was still behind you. "Hey Nat, I think that grey BMW is following us. They have been taking the same turns as us since we first got on this road." Natasha looks in the mirror to find the car, when she sees it she nods, "Good find. We won't know for sure but let's take a detour just to be sure."

She looks around at the road signs, "There." She says shifting lanes to the right. "The mall?" You question. She nods her head again, "Yes we can go into the IT store and send the files, just to be sure. And we can change clothes if necessary."

"Oh, that's smart." You say as Natasha takes the turn into the gigantic mall parking garage. She speeds thought it making sure that if you're being followed you have a head start to get into the mall unnoticed. Meanwhile you're in awe of her driving skills.

You move out of the car quickly and head in. You pass a clothing store and Natasha pulls you in it by your arm. "People are going to recognize me, we can't bring any attention to us." She says as she grabs a grey striped hoodie and a grey leather jacket. She also grabs a blue sweater and a black hat for you and heads over to the cash register.

After she has paid for your disguises you move out of the store again and move to a corner to each put your disguise on. When you're ready you're on the move again quick, but as Natasha moves to go right, you grab her hand and pull her the other way. She looks at you confused. "Third store on the right second floor." She looks up to find the store you're talking about and sees laptops through the window.

"Nice work, you're very observant. That's very good. Let's go." You smile at the compliment and head to the store with her. If you could impress the one Avenger that was cold to you from the start, something must be going well, right?

When you enter the store you both look around, trying to act like normal shoppers while scanning the room for camera’s and employees. Natasha spots two camera’s aimed at the laptop area, but if she picked the right laptop she could block one by standing with her back to it and with the other she just had to be careful and pretend she was just trying out the laptop. You spotted only one employee at the laptop area and the next employees would be too far away to notice anything. “I’ll distract him, ready?” You ask Natasha.

Natasha nods and you take that as your que to walk over to the employee. “Hi sir, I was wondering if you could help me?” He turns towards you and says, “Of course, what can I help you with today?” You walk him over to a laptop all the way at the other side of the area and start asking him all kinds of questions about it. The way the laptop was facing made it that the employee was with his back turned to Nat. You keep asking him questions, that you definitely already had the answer too until you saw Natasha give the signal that she was ready. You turn to the employee again, “Thank you so much for clearing that up for me. I will make sure to relay the information you gave be back home and then I’ll be back if we decide on getting it.”

The guy is a bit disappointed that after spending quite some time with you he won’t be making a sale, but he tells you, “Of course, have a nice day. And if you have any further questions, please let me know.” After that he turns around and walks away again.

You walk out of the store and meet back up with Natasha. “Great job back there.” She says. Was she warming up to you? You smiled to yourself, she definitely was. Stone cold Natasha was getting less stone cold by the minute.

Making your way back to the parking garage Natasha noticed two men in suits who were clearly carrying weapons on their hips looking around. Searching for someone, searching for the two of you. She quickly pushed you to the side and placed her hands on your shoulder. You are taken back by the action, not knowing what just happened. Natasha notices the look on your face and says, “They’re here.”

“What does that have to do with pushing me up against a wall?” You say accompanied by a confused look on your face. “Kiss me.” She says. That does not clear your confusion. So, Natasha continues, “Public displays of affection make people very uncomfortable.” You nod, finally understanding her idea. You lean forward and kiss her, you place both your hands on her cheeks. A way to block off her face to the men in suits but also because it just felt right. When Natasha pulls back from the kiss she smiles.

Your eyes widen in excitement, "That's the first time I've ever seen you smile!" Natasha takes a step back and playfully rolls her eyes, “That’s seriously going to be your first reaction after kissing me?” On instinct you lean in and kiss her again. You just really wanted to have her soft lips on yours again. She kisses you back instantly, her hands on your hips pushing you into the wall more. You really didn’t want to stop kissing her, but you knew it would be suspicious if you kept going for much longer. So, you pull away from her again slightly.

She looks into your eyes, trying to find why you kissed her again. “They were still there.” You lie. Natasha smiles again, “You know for a good liar, you can also be a really bad one.” She kisses your cheek, “Blushing cheeks are a dead giveaway.”

You start looking worried, you thought you could get away with it, but apparently not. She was never going to give you a positive review on your shadowing mission now. You curse yourself in your head, you really had to let your feeling get in the way.

“Don’t worry, y/n. I wanted to kiss you again too.” She says placing her hand on the small of your back, “Come on, let’s get out of here.” And so, you did. You went back to the car, which miraculously wasn’t being guarded and there was also no tracker to be found and drove the rest of the way back to the compound.

Back at the compound they decide to have your assessment right away. The other Avengers go into the meeting room and talk among themselves while you are nervously waiting in the hall outside of the room. Cap opens the door and asks you to come in. He keeps standing with you at the front of the room. “Alright, y/n, we have discussed all of your shadow missions together and have decided that you would be a great addition to the team.” You smile grows wide. You were going to be an Avenger!

“You showed excellent decision-making skills, survival instinct and you are a great observer. We’re all very happy to have you join us.” Cap finishes and everyone claps their hands. One by one they come over to congratulate you. Natasha gives you a hug to congratulate you. Wanda notices the interaction and smiles, she’s been hearing your and Natasha’s very loud thoughts about each other from day one and was happy that something must have happened on your mission together to got in out in the open.

You spend the rest of the day relaxing with Natasha in her room. It turned out that underneath that stone cold expression was just a girl trying not to get hurt again.

Swinger! AU infodump cuz i desperately need to talk about it

so this au isn’t even CLOSE to being fully fleshed out in any way but i would like to write down some of my visions for it just to have them somewhere (this is masons garbage dump after all…)

as always, feel free to add onto these ideas/express your opinions on them :]

here we go!!

—✧ General Info ✧—

the characters are under a copyright license and were bought for the rights to use by an elderly man to try and earn some love back for the art of jazz, and in turn, swing.

Jazz is not as popular as it once was in this futuristic world and the unnamed licensee thinks that using the beloved characters of Fazbear Entertainment will help people to gain an appreciation for swing again.

the animatronic’s casings have been completely redone in favor of a simpler, classy look. Freddy now closely resemble his original counterpart, with the rest of the Glamrocks having their face paint + other accessories removed.

takes place in a separate location from the Mega Pizzaplex. it is not nearly as large, resembling a ballroom + diner (if that makes any sense…). specific areas like the Superstar Swinger’s Club were added onto the original building to provide lessons.

the animatronics have no prior memories and most of the original programming has been completely removed, so their mannerisms and behavior develop from scratch (they used to work at a normal Pizzaplex, but were transferred to this location as there was not enough business to keep it running)

Sun and Moon are the main dancers in the building, with Freddy and the gang still playing shows with more jazz-centered instruments. the licensee is the one who teaches them how to dance, along with the technician, who downloads information about the different types of swing into their drives.

the Superstar Swinger’s Club is where many of the live events/lessons take place, with the main room of the studio being a diner of sorts

dancing is how they build a relationship with someone. the more a duo dances together, the closer they become. you can find out a lot about someone through how they dance.

the animatronics have a tendency to shut down randomly (was an issue at their first location, inadequate battery life)

doesn’t have any children/grandchildren who are interested in swing, so he takes it upon himself to teach the robots what he knows.

he learned his best moves from his grandfather, who was around during the height of swing’s popularity.

using simple terms, i would describe him as a short and chubby black man with a heart of gold. still prefers to dress in his patterned button-ups and slacks!

a real joy to be around, so much passion! happiness almost exudes from his body when he gets to teach some newcomers

loves a good joke or tease. has one great laugh

not always at the studio due to having multiple jobs, so the animatronics have their own lists of responsibilities (along with help of the technician who comes by) gotta pay the rights to Fazbear Ent. property somehow…

Charlie (technician)

she/her pronouns!! (nonbinary)

has faded red-dyed hair with a short wolfcut. top layer of her hair is in a ponytail in the back. has snake bite piercings and thick black eyebrows.

past employee at original Mega Pizzplex location (Freddy’s former handler)

heard about the renovations of the animatronics and thought it was the coolest thing ever

absolute shit dancer but tries her best for Sunny

downloads informational books/videos about swing into the animatronic’s hard drives (sneaks in some music)

feels so at home when she goes to the studio. (living conditions aren’t the greatest)

Sun

he/they/she/it/xe/sol/solar pronouns!!

Sun is the main face of the Swinger’s Club, being the confident and overly passionate character of the Dance Performer duo.

got the nickname “Kicker” because of their dance style, mainly consisting of Lindy Hop and Charleston moves.

doesn’t matter if you’re good or not, if he asks to dance, you’re dancing!! they take any chance they get to make a new connection through dance

good luck if you’re new, sol can be a bit fast at times.. (dances to songs with higher bpm ~180)

tends to trip themselves up on other people’s shoes (apologizes profusely while sobbing)

can’t sit still to save their life. always bouncing their leg or swaying side to side

sun is aroace and in a QPR with moon. (they are separate beings in this au!!) they have a strong bond thanks to how much they’ve grown/learned from each other. they’ve been side by side since the opening of the club.

you can find the duo practicing their choreography together at any given time

still a neat freak! everything’s got a place when it comes to Kicker

Moon

he/they/it/xe/moon/light pronouns!!

the softspoken one of the duo, can still be a little shithead /aff (teases the hell out of sun for little things)

doesn’t like being in the spotlight like Sun but tends to forget about everything else when they are in the zone

almost feels as if they glide across the floor with how quick and light on their feet they can be

got the nickname “Dizzy” after they fell of the stage during a turn and couldn’t stand up straight for an hour (licensee is the one who uses this most, moon absolutely hates it)

does more solo than Sun does, still trying to find a confidence within themselves

likes slower tempos and dance styles like Blues and Balboa (does lindy with sun a LOT)

always trying new moves and dance styles out with Kicker (Sun loves trying things that would definitely get them both hurt)

the story between these two starts at the very beginning, with them bonding through learning everything about swing together. they spread so much love throughout everything they do that it’s almost overwhelming.

if i were to write about them, it would be about how they adjust to their new careers as dancers and how having zilch code to go off of makes it even harder

((just imagining them tripping over each other and making sure the other doesn’t fall as they try their hardest to copy licensee’s moves))
