my sister has two fountain pens, both very friendly pilots (a metro and a kakuno) and she brought them to me to clean them or fix them bc neither of them write without flow issues . and well her first problem was that she didn't realize she had no ink in one of them. her second problem was that she brought the ink out to refill and ... baystate blue. noodler's inks are imo extremely overhyped in general but what ive discovered this morning as i'm rinsing her pens out at home is that this one leaves a gritty/sludgy residue of blue/black particulate on fucking everything. i knew it stained to high heaven but it's so GUNKY . and almost greasy? sludgy. this stuff is harder to clean than my organics studio nitrogen and nitro is fucking famous in fountain pen reddits for being so staining and hard to clean. if noodler's ink has one million haters im one of them. if noodler's has ten haters im one. if noodler's has one hater that is me. if noodler's has zero haters i am no more on this earth . if the world is with noodlers then i am against the world

There’s a new Sonic game coming out starting Shadow as the deuteragonist, and the story seems to be hearkening back to his connections with the Black Arms; Specifically with the Doom Morph ability he’s now unlocked, named after you know who. Any thoughts on this?

I mean, as the saga of Red the Giant Salamander might indicate, I've always felt it a bit sad that the black arms didn't really get explored much more beyond the initial invasion. Post-SGW Archie had the character of Eclipse, but that sank when Archie did.

Beyond that I think it's interesting to ask questions about an entire species of entities, especially when our exclusive source of insider information about them is someone we KNOW to be a domineering, mind-controlling tyrant (Black Doom), I think there's something more than a bit sad about Shadow having to feel like everything he 'came from' is tainted or awful somehow. The ARK nearly killed everyone, so he basically doesn't go there or think about it again. The Biolizard was used the same way he was in Gerald's revenge plan, so he killed it as a rejection of that. The Black Arms were the soldiers of Doom's invasion, so rejecting Doom's control, he rejected them too.

At the end of the day, though, Shadow is still a Black Arm. And that's not a "proof of corruption", it's just a fact. Even if you would be right to reject an abusive relationship with another human, if that was the only other human you'd ever interacted with, it'd be hard for that not to hang over your head, you know? Especially when Shadow is very prone, as we've seen in multiple stories, to thinking of himself as a bad seed, fundamentally wrong or flawed or destructive at his core. At his worst, he can latch onto Maria's memory as the only good thing about him, which is really not great considering in his debut game that connection was actively used to manipulate him.

Me being a sucker for body horror, I've always thought it'd be a tantalizing prospect for Shadow to mature or mutate or change in a way that's normal for a Black Arm in his situation (and/or unique to him as a heavily modified/engineered one who has no connection to a hive or peers, the way the Black Arms seem to connect with each other heavily) but that he himself has no context for and would take as proof he's Getting Worse, or something he'd push friends away about.

(Specifically, because this kind of problem in his thinking can't really get addressed or explored if it just stays as an unquestioned/unaffirmed Thought He Has. Shadow's pretty tough to crack- ironically I think his fortitude and strength of will is why his mental health gets as bad as it does- he builds pressure until it's crisis mode and then he explodes when the steps before that explosion are far quieter)

I've personally long had the headcanon that at some point Shadow will develop his own version of Doom's Eye- I like to think it'd be a salamander-like thing rather than Doom's alien starfish, because of Shadow's connection with earthly life and the form of the biolizard. Possibly even with its Eye being up on its back the same way the biolizard's life support pack is.
