I occasionally wish to reach out to old friends/acquaintances I haven't spoken to since high school/some other even earlier time in my life, but I have SOOO little social energy even for required tasks (like making dr phone calls or etc), I never have any leftover for extra ones, and it would be very odd to message someone I haven't spoken to in like 5 years out of the blue but then take 4 entire months to respond back lol.. My natural curiosity with nostalgia/collecting details of the past/etc. (literally if I were born a little earlier I would definitely do scrapbooking or something lol) is very strong, but, alas, not strong enough to beat out the Social Issues Demons apparently
#facebook always does that 'here's a post from this day 8 years ago' thing. and I see old comments interacting#with people and it's so like.. OOOOO~~ where are they now?? what's going on? how much have they changed as people?#how much are they the same? this is fascinating. i should contact them!!' but then it's like... take that to it's logical conclusion though#you would contact them and then IF they even responded it would take you 80 years to respond and then they would#think there was something wrong or that you were trying to be insulting or something. To contact anyone I need to include an 85 page#disclaimer of all of my social issues & mental illness things. 'If i take 3 weeks to reply I promise it has nothing to do with u' etc lol#THIS is why more people need to be into phone calls/voice calls/some form of audio real time communication/etc.#I think one of the main things that's hard about messaging through text for me is it's so unscheduled and open ended#(plus it takes forever if you're talking about anything in detail and gets very long very quickly)#because like you can send a message and then just get a reply whenever. and then you're expected to reply back whenever#so it's like you never know when the response will come or when a new obligation to reply can come up? so it's like this sudden thing with#no outline?? if that makes sense. whereas a phone call is very like 'hello let's schedule a call from 10am - 2pm on thursday'. And you know#EXACTLY when the interaction will start and EXACTLY when it will end and you can plan around it in your schedule easily.#I have the reverse thing of a lot of people (how people don't pick up phone calls/hate calls/only text)#I would literally talk on the phone with a stranger. I would have a discord voice chat with someone I barely know.#if someone I hardly even remember from elementary school asked to have a voice call with me out of nowhere I would do it.#but if a stranger MESSAGED me?? or someone I barely know sent me a TEXT or something?? I will never reply probably#It's just too vague and weird. and you can't read voice tone over text. and the interaction could last forever with no clear end#point and etc. etc. But a call is like. set. established. clear boundaries. you can read the flow of conversation better. rapport. etc. etc#I get that I guess people feel more anonymous or distanced over text?? but you can have fake phone numbers on the computer. or do like disc#rd calls. or zoom without a camera or etc. etc. Also the distance that's present in text is BAD distance because it just means that tone is#not conveyed properly and you will never truly get a sense of the person's conversational vibe or mannerisms or how well you really click.#ANYWAY ghgjh...... I'm so so so interested in concepts of like.. How did that one kid I used to talk to in elementary school#but then they moved away in 5th grade - how did they end up? what are they doing now?? etc. etc. Like despite the severe social anhedonia#and general lack of connection with others I'm just really fascinated in like.. idk. the human development of it all and like#the concept of how we're actually a million different people through the course of our lives ever evolving in different iterations and etc.#PLUS again. i love nostalgia. sometimes old peple you know might remember a shared memory or can tell you about something you forgot#or etc. like it's SUCH A COOL THING in CONCEPT but I am too socially inept generally speaking lol. which people I still talk to today are#familiar with my 'phone call once every few months' communication style. but strangers would just be like... wtf. And I don't blame them#Sure I literally cannot change the physical health + brain issues i have - but also I know enough to not put others through that lol

Any HC’s on how abomination magic specifically works?
I DO ACTUALLY - OH MY GODS, I DO ACTUALLY!
Because it's clearly different than plant magic! It's not earth magic, even though it's some sort of... soil. Of sort. And Amity says she had missed it when she returned to the demon-realm.
So WHAT IS IT?
Now, I think a big point of what could-have-been season 3, is that MAYHAPS Amity would be much less helpful in magic. Giving Willow space to be "the strong/powerful one" and thus their friendship could have a continued arc.
But it's just one of those big question marks of; Is that intentionally something that only exist in the demon realm? If so, what point to the story does that serve? And if not - what difference is it to plant/earth magic at all?
I genuinely can't answer that.
Anyhow, let's identify what it is that could make it different from plant magic.
My headcanon, based on the little I can scrape together from the show's world building and plot direction.
I deduce that abomination is very specifically made out of grime and slime, like, the sort of thing you'd scrape away to make something clean again. Dust, muck, flakes, waste, dead skin, carcass, slags, mould, rot... Things that would make you feel Oh yeah, that's very boiling isles-esque.
So, dead and gross things.
Plant magic is making things grow, turns and moves the earth, terraforms.
And abomination is kind of an opposite.
To me, this makes sense. Since Darius is on the good-guys' side, and Terra is on the bad-guys' side. Putting these two seemingly similar but actual opposites against one another makes thematic sense.
it also makes aesthetic sense, since we see in season 3 that the TOH-Crew make the aesthetic choice to give Luz a typical villain aesthetic and the collector the typical hero aesthetic (pastels, round stars, childish happiness, etc).
Willow vs Amity would have been a cool fight to see, or, if not a fight. At the very least see Amity try to calm Willow's growing emotional storm (ah, pun!) Which they were rounding up for Willow in season 3.
This is a side-track, but all that they put in episode 2 of season 3, I feel were things they always wanted to give resolution to. I know a lot of fans are ???? about boscha and kikimora getting a lot of attention, but specifically Boscha - with Amity, and Willow. I get the sense that they had much more in store for the hex girls friendship than what we got. But alas. They sho-horned what they wanted in there and maybe forgot that the audience doesnt have the knowledge of intent as the crew does. So it comes off as a bit "why did this get attention instead of X thing?"
Okay anyway back to biz.
The fashion direction and aesthetic of the Demon-Realm is, to me, like if you took a fantasy renaissance fair and slapped cheap halloween decor on it. Jester hat? Glue some fussy spiders on it with fangs. A colourful vest? It has batwings and eyeballs for buttons.
This is important, actually!
Alador has abomination magic, and Amity's dad, he is aesthetically designed to look very much like a stereotypical it's aliiiiveeee crazy scientist. But with the mellowness of a tired workaholic dad.
Amity's mother has oracle magic.
Together they make evil steam punk science. In a show that canonically built it's catalystic event on a brother murdering his brother and is haunted by his ghost, while trying to ressurect copies of him that he also murders.....
You cannot look me in the eyes and tell me that the protagonists love interest's magical ability has no visual direction that connects the two. And I will tell you why I'm right.
Visually we are guided to connect Amity's parents. Look at their factory, at aladors lab, look at how it's pleading us to look at their manor as a typical gothic horror. (mind you, their home is also one of the few buildings that doesnt have eye-motifs on it, and instead has a star/moon symbols. The only other place I can think of that does is the library and the collector disc & Titan tower.)
Amity doesn't use abomination magic in the human realm. Not even in the fight against Belos. There's... something purple, for sure, a kind of smokey bomb-attack thing. But no abomination.
Amity has used other non-abomination purple magic before too, when she caged Luz at the knee to keep her safe. A cage, much similar to what Odalia can do.
Which means that PERHAPS Amity knows, and can, use oracle magic.
If we are to take Amity's comment on Camila saying "you were really holding back in the human realm, huh?", Amity says "maybe a little"
And she calls it slime.
So perhaps it is something that also exist in the human realm too? But she didn't use it in battle. Or maybe this comment is to referr to that she had to hold back on her preferred magic style, because there wasnt much of this *particular type* of slime.
Meaning she'd be forced to use oracle magic? And maybe have an arc where she reclaims that magic. It would also be more useful to the gang, since they would be going through a story-line of uncovering Belos' past in Gravesfield's history.
Her mixing both oracle and abomination magic, I feel, would also bring forth more purpose to the episode where a basilisk invaded the school.
The whole purpose of the episode was to show that you should be allowed to have more than one preferred magic - but NONE of the main hex-squads ever dabble in that. Making the episode somewhat purposeless - but if Amity gets to reclaim oracle magic as her own.. I feel like this would tie into the thematics of GOLEMS.
Abominations already are designed to look like golems. But the real life folklore dabbles in re-animating clay with LIFE. Much like a zombie, or what have you. Grimwalker, anybody? no? Just me? Very well.
I feel that would have been a perfect story segway to put pressure on Hunter and Luz hiding that Hunter is a grimwalker. The more they find out about Philip, the closer the pieces would be put together. Drrrraamaa~!
I have a feeling Amity and Gus would become closer, as illusion magic would be very useful to them all as well, moving amongst humans. Perhaps this would play into Willow's insecurities that we see her having in season 3.
Which, also, by Amity and Gus becoming closer (Amity being closest to Luz, Gus with Hunter) this would also put pressure on their secret. And the two of them would have insight, being the twos confidants. Leaving Willow, again, a little to the wayside - giving more fuel to her arc of trying to overcompensate with being the strong friend, as she slowly disconnects a bit with the group and her emotional turmoil grows.
ANYWAY.
I think abomination is meant to be something that Amity would combine with oracle magic. Something that would be fundamentally different than if you combined oracle with plant magic.
Perhaps there are more layers to Belos wanting the magics to be apart. Clearly, mixing magic doesn't only make a witch stronger, perhaps their creativity is the only limit to what a witch could do.
What if you oracle a ghost into a clay figure? What if the human version of abomination is hardened mud (clay), or metals like steel (coal and iron), what then? DUNNO. Sky's the limit. Write a fanfic.
That's my headcanons and thoughts on abomination magic, anyway.

"Happy 100th Anniversary"
[Land of Dawning – National Museum of Art]
Epel: I'd been hearin' this place was just some fancy museum, 'cept it's way huger 'n I thought.
Epel: We ain't got a museum back home, so… Seein' all these paintin's hangin' 'bout's just crazy!
???: Look at that apple, it's so red and shiny! Totally looks photo-worthy ♪
Epel: Ah, Cater-san! Yeah, it's a really beautiful apple, huh. Although, it's pretty hard to get them this red even with a ton of effort.
Cater: Eh, really? Epel-chan, you sure know your apples ♪
Epel: Ehehe, that's because I'm from a family of apple farmers. I don't think anyone knows more than me when it comes to apples!
Cater: I see~
Cater: Y'know, the queen here looks like she's talking with the crow as she offers it the apple. What do you think she's saying?
Cater: Since even someone well-versed in the world of apples like you thought it's a great looking one, thinking she's saying something like, "Doesn't it look delicious?"
Epel: Nah. I think she's saying, "It's not for you!"
Cater: Eh! So mean!
Epel: Well, yeah!! Like, back home, we'd always have crows trying to nab our apples…
Epel: They'd damage them, poke holes in them, drop them half-eaten on the ground…
Epel: I can't stand them for treating our delicious apples like that!!
Epel: It'd be bad if we couldn't ship out our apples, so the village would band together every year to try to keep them crows out.
Cater: THE WHOLE VILLAGE!? Must be a pretty touch sitch. What kinda stuff do you do to get rid of them?
Epel: We'd put up nets, or make noises that the crows wouldn't like… And a bunch of other stuff.
Epel: But those guys are pretty smart, so we can only get rid of them for a short time… They always come back once they realize they're not in danger.

Cater: You'd hoot and holler while chasing after them!? Based on how petite you look, I couldn't imagine you doing something like that…
Epel: If I don't give them a good scare, they'll just keep coming back.
Epel: A few of the crows were more persistent, so I'd get worried that I'd run out of magic while trying to chase them.
Epel: But, thanks to all that, in the end, whenever I was in the orchard, the crows wouldn't come anywhere near it!
Cater: Pretty amazing of you to scare away all those annoying crows that had the whole village in a bind ♪

Epel: Is that what this is? Oh, the magic carpet is holding something. Is this… a flower?
Epel: It's really drawn so lifelike. It looks like it was just freshly picked…
Cater: Ahaha. So I take it you're more interested in fresh flowers than a romantic date, Epel-chan?
Epel: I-I mean, when weeds are pulled out, they shrivel up pretty fast…
Epel: And even cut flowers need to be put into a vase as soon as possible, or it loses its vibrancy.
Cater: Really? Looks like you're just as in the know about plants as you are with apples.
Epel: Ehehe. I'm studying really hard right now so that I can be more useful to my village whenever I head back home.
Epel: I've been working on potions that'll keep plants from withering, or help them grow…
Epel: Recently, I've been growing my own plants so I can test my potions on them.
Epel: I panicked a bit when one of the pots broke when I was in the middle of testing out a new potion…
Cater: Eh!? You saying that it grew crazy fast, or something!?
Epel: Oh, no, no! I can't make potions that great yet, or with any effect, really…
Epel: Basically, it just fell because one of my roommates bumped their hand into it while they were getting ready for class.
Cater: Did you get hurt at all? It'd be bad if our cute little Epel-chan got injured!
Epel: Cute…!? …Urgh, yes, I was fine.
Epel: I had to clean up the broken pot and scattered dirt, so I was more worried about being late to class.
Epel: I planned on hitting up the school store afterwards to get another pot, since I didn't have any spares…
Epel: But Jack-kun, my classmate, shared one of his spare pots! I was able to move my plant into that one right away.
Cater: Hm? Why did Jack-kun…? Oh, right. He raises cacti, right?
Epel: Yeah! How did you know?
Cater: I remembered him posting a picture of a cactus on Magicam once. There wasn't any description, so I didn't really get what the picture was supposed to be of at first…
Epel: That must have been the cactus that Jack-kun's been growing, yeah.
Epel: He really tries to take good care of it, and had spare pots laying around.

Epel: Cater-san, are there are plants that you take care of?
Cater: Hmmm, I mean, there's a ton of plants in my dorm. But I don't think I'd ever really get around to raising some myself.

Epel: Oh yeah, Ace-kun said something like that too. But it's not like I knew of the restaurant before I came to Sage's Island.
Cater: Are you more the type to avoid fast food hamburger joints?
Epel: I wouldn't say I avoid them… It's a bit of a car ride to get to their closest chain back home, so I haven't had much opportunity to go, is all.
Cater: Oh wow. I totally thought they had a place set up pretty much everywhere, since it's even on this remote island.
Epel: Yeah… When I told Ace-kun and Deuce-kun, they were pretty surprised as well.

Epel: Eh, you mean that's not something only here at Sage's Island!?
Epel: Then that means I could have had free refills in the restaurant I went to back home… I didn't know at all.
Epel: What a waste, I'd only ever get one drink whenever I'd go. I'll have to let my family know next time I head back home.

Hey bright!! I was wondering if you had any HCs for how a meeting between Pucci and Giorno could have gone? I'm curious about what kind of dynamic you'd think they'd have! 🙏🙌
Hey Flan~ ok this has been sitting in my askbox for how long-
Uhhh... it's hard to say. I've read some fics and seen other people's HCs that I've kinda adopted theirs I think.
I've kinda began rambling in this answer so putting this under cut
I've always thought that if Giorno showed up at the end of SO, fate would've forced him to somehow help Pucci, accidentally even. At that point, fate is in favour of Pucci no matter what it seems, even when the team almost defeated him, he turned the defeat into an advantage and even said that they were helping him all along.
Mix that with the fact that the Brando Bros were also fated to aid him in some way (even when Dona tried to turn against him), and Giorno is just gonna get used I think.
Now people can argue "oh well if he has GER then that would circumvent fate" and to those I say eheheheheeee someone doesn't know how GER actually woooorks~ (but thats not that important-)
So if anything, Giorno was helping by... staying AWAY from Pucci and SO.
As for their dynamic, I think outside the whole Heaven Plan they could've actually kinda gotten along. They're both pretty smart, maybe their interactions would constantly be like a game on mental chess, them both trying to outsmart eachother, Pucci trying to find remnants of Dio in Giorno and Giorno trying to uncover Pucci's secrets (maybe about Dio) but it could grow to be something more friendly... still with ominous undertones.
I had this idea for an AU once where GER goes out of control and begins trying to overpower Giorno, so fate brings Pucci over and Pucci helps by turning GER into a DISC (a very unstable golden shiny DISC).... and then of course Pucci probably uses this for his own advantage but not before growing close with Giorno. (this is like an alternative Green Child AU to me loool)
Idk if this really answered the question but eehhhh?? That's about as much of my own stuff as I got-

Can you do a period cup part 2 with izana kakucho and Draken please its okay if you dont want to have a good day/night
Absolutely! This was in the works already, so I'm glad you requested it!
Stuck Cups (Part 2): Izana Kurokawa/Kakucho Hitto/Ken Ryuguji/Sanzu Haruchiyo x Fem!Reader
wc: 953
tw: blood!
masterlist (Part 1)
Izana Kurokawa is squeamish and will not touch anything that looks like blood. Ever.
"No!" Izana shouts, walking out of the bathroom with both hands up. "I won't look at it."
"Don't be a baby," you cry out, amused. "It's just a period!"
"Never known what that was and didn't want to." Izana wanders into the kitchen, opening the fridge and distracting himself from the thought of blood anywhere. So much for a gang leader, huh?
"You act like seeing blood is the worst thing in the world."
"Not seeing it," Izana counters, pointing a single finger in the air. "Touching it."
"Who would clean your scrapes, then?"
"Kakucho," Izana announces proudly. "He'd do anything for me."
Kakucho Hitto is willing to... learn about periods now.
"Alright, so you're saying..." Kakucho squats, frowning. "That your period cup is stuck in there?"
"Yeah," you mumble, shaking your head. "Can't get it out at all."
"And Izana wouldn't help you?"
"No."
"Figures," Kakucho whispers, leaning forward a bit before tossing over his shoulder, "I have full permission to touch your girlfriend's vagina, right?"
"Yeah, just this once. It's a hall pass type of a thing." You glare at Izana, who's standing in the doorway, looking at his phone distractedly. "One night only."
"Okay." Kakucho sticks two fingers inside of you, and you jolt, feeling thick fingers probe about you. "I think I've got it."
"Could you hurry up?" you wonder, grimacing. "Pull it out, already!"
Kakucho obeys, pulling it out and letting it drop with a thunk onto the floor.
"That's disgusting," Izana responds, making a yuck face and walking away.
"It's literally just a period," you grumble. Kakucho picks up your cup and washes it out in the sink with care.
"Just boil it, and it'll be good to go."
"How'd you know that?" you ask, taking the cup from him. Kakucho ponders upon your question for a second, then hums to himself.
"I mean, they're like sex toys, right? They go in your vagina, so they need to be cleaned every so often. I'd assume you boil it."
"Do you own--" Kakucho turns beet red, then backs out of the bathroom without answering any of your shouted questions.
Draken wishes he didn't know what a period was, but is second best only to Takeomi.
"Babe," you shout, and Draken stops putting the groceries away. "My cup got stuck again."
"Coming," Draken replies, shutting the fridge door closed with his foot and ambling towards the bathroom. Damn, he's getting old, he notes, rubbing his back. You're stuck on the toilet, one eye shut as you feel around for the cup. "I got this."
Draken wordlessly replaces your fingers and feels for the cup, leaning over just enough so he can reach the rim and pull it out with ease. Before he straightens up, he places a quick kiss on your nose and then treks to the sink, making light work of the nearly impossible task.
"We should probably start using those disc things," you mention, wiping before flushing the toilet. "You know, for ease of removal and stuff." Draken's eyes slide to you, and he huffs in surprise before leaning his back against the sink.
"Oh, yeah? For ease of removal?"
"And other things," you murmur, pushing him aside to wash your hands.
"Like sex?" Draken laces his arms around you and nuzzles your neck. "We don't have to do all of that, baby. I'll fuck the period right out of you, no sweat." You bump your hips against him, and Draken's grip tightens around you.
"Don't tempt me, big boy," you giggle, but Draken isn't through with you. Not in the slightest.
"Let me put the milk up so it doesn't spoil, and I'll be right back to... assist you, my dear."
Sanzu Haruchiyo is not squeamish, not stupid, and relies on other methods of freedom.
"The article says you should..." Sanzu pauses, scowling over his phone at the hostage in the corner. The bound man is crying loudly, which is interrupting his focus and making him irritated. "Shut the fuck up." Sanzu waves the gun in his hand for emphasis, then turns back to his phone.
"Sorry, baby. First, you should probably get some gloves."
"Gloves...?"
"We have some in the cabinet below the sink." You shift the phone around and set it down. Sanzu can hear you rattling around in the cabinet in the background. "Let me know when you find them."
"Just let me go," the hostage warbles. "I swear I didn't have anything to do with--"
"I'm. Not. Talking. To you."
"I found them!"
"Great. Now you're going to want to squat over the toilet and feel around for the top of the cup. When you find it, push it in and pull it out."
"Got it." There are noises of effort on the other side of the phone, and when you're freed, you give a little shout of joy. "I did it!"
"Good job, sweetheart," Sanzu smiles to himself and glances at the man. "That's my baby girl right there. She can do anything."
"Are you coming home in time for dinner?" Sanzu turns his attention back to the phone and thinks.
"Don't know. Might take me a bit to clean up around here. Save me a plate, though."
"Okay. I love you."
"Love you more."
"Impossible," you counter, and Sanzu chuckles. "See you soon." After he hangs up, Sanzu turns back to his hostage. He stands, sets down his phone, and picks up his gun.
"Tell me the steps to getting a stuck menstrual cup out of your wife's vagina in ten seconds, or I'm turning your brains into a Jackson Pollock on the wall behind you."

And as the camera pans up to familiar older girl with dyed dark blue hair and the blue eyes, he starts to get emotional seeing her face once more. And finally, He hears that voice that used to sing him to sleep, that used to stand up for him in school, the voice that would calm his anxiety down after a bad race or a fight with their father.
A lot of people ask me, am I afraid of death? - The truth is, I think what scares me the most - Is not being able to say all the things I wanna say to you - When I'm no longer here - So this song is for Maxie for when that day comes
Hearing not just her voice but calling him Maxie, the one who started that nicknamed, made Max tear up a bit. The video fake glitches, to a video of Sierra and Max when Max was a kid,
Where's Maxie? Where's he at?This ain't Maxie! Who is it? It's a monster (ahh)
Max laughed at the video from childhood, Sierra was the only one who could get Max into a video
I've been waiting all night for the sunrise - To take away the dark sky - You're the dad monster and them are the baby monsters and - I'm the mom monster - Oh - All it takes is a new day sometimes - To get me in a better state of mind - Give me a kiss, monster, give me a kiss - Love you (I love you)
Max takes notice that this part is talking about their family's dynamics and the hope that each new day brings healing. The video glitches once more to Max still pretending to be a “monster”. And hearing that ‘I Love You’ once more broke Max’s heart. Once the chorus is over, Verse 2 begins playing, the video cuts back to Sierra sitting in front of at TV that’s playing all and everything of the Verstappen Three (Sierra, Max & Victoria)
Yeah, so Maxie Emil, I wrote you this song - To help you cope with life now that I'm gone - How should I start? Just wanna say - Look after Vicky, Bluey, and Mommy dear - And, sweetie, be strong, I know I was your rock - And I still am, saying goodbye is just not - Ever easy, but why you crying? Just stop - Max, baby, dry your eye, this is not - Forever
Max hears the chorus began again before hearing,
Sissy - What? - When I used to have this when I was a little kid - Baby, are you okay?
Max was surprised to hear their mother's voice, but he was happy to hear it
Yeah, and you will get over me and move on - You can play me on repeat on a song - But don't you dare shed a tear, what'd I tell you? - "Straighten up, little soldier, " them times when I held you - Emilian, it'll be okay, baby, I'm here, Max - I'm watchin' you right now, baby boy, I vow - I will protect you, your guardian angel - As hard as this may feel, us parting is painful - And, darling, the rain will drive you insane still - You will remain strong, Maxie, just hang on - It won't be too long, I need you to move on - And remember, it will get better - 'Cause times heals and when a
Max realizes that, yes he can listen to her music but he wants to hear it person then a recording. Max remembers his fathers rage after a bad race of Maxs, which resulted in Max running away and sitting somewhere by himself crying before he felt the warmth and inhaled the strawberry scented perfume, he had relized his older sister was hugging him and talking him down from this panic attack. Max remembers the words “straight up little soldier. you did great and im still so proud of you.” That one word was one he really only heard from Sierra.
I know this big boy - And he’s really handsome - You know what his name is? - Maxie! - Maxie, how did you know?
Max laughs at his younger confident self,
Yeah, and if there's days where you wanna lock yourself in your room and cry - Just think about how when you were little, how you and I back and forth to the studio, we used to drive - You strapped in the backseat 'cause you were my little sidekick, yeah, sweetie, I know this hurts - Bean, I'm wishing your pain away - Remember this, Maxie Emil - There’s gonna be rainy days - I promise you'll get through 'em and make it regardless - Fuck it, Emilian, I'll be honest - I knew that you was gonna take this the hardest - Sweetie, get up, I know that is is breaking your heart, it's the hardest thing I ever wrote (daddy)Hailie, sweetheart, it's okay for you to let me go - Baby, I promise you that when a-
Max knows and remembers what his sister is talking about. Growing up if Sierra noticed Max was upset, stressed or tired, or just needing a break from karting or dealing with their father, she would take Max with her to the recording studio, Max was almost nearly the first one to hear her music before it was released.
And hearing that nickname Bean, The one Sierra created because Max hated green beans that he would throw them across the room. This part makes Max laugh once more, something he hasn't done in 3 weeks. And once again his bigger sister was right, Max is taking Sierras death harder then anyone, then their younger siblings, their father, their mother and the world.
What's your favorite song? My favorite song right now - Mine and your favorite song, - but I like this part, that's your favorite part, sis?
You're taping me, bitch - I got you on tape cussin' - Can you hear? -Yeah - No, bitch - No what? - No, I said, I said, no, bitch - Okay, no cussin'
Max laughs at this part, Sierra was more of a parent than Jos was to Max. Making him food before and after school, taking him to school, helping him with school work, going to any parent - teacher conferences. With this parental role Sierra had taken on she made sure Max did have some rules one was: No cussing. And Max remembers faking his sister out by saying words that sound close to the swears.
Max leans back, tears in his, and thinks for a moment before grabbing his sister’s phone and getting her managers number off it. Calling her, Max mentions he found the song and wants to see if they can release it, and they do. Max is happy for once these past couple weeks, he knows that she wanted him to find that song, to listen to it, to fight for it to be released. And Max knows Sierra is standing next to him smiling proud once more.

What A Sight
Recom! Miles Quaritch x Recom! Female reader
Summary: The scientists said that Na'vi people get 'heat cycles' when they're in mating season. Now that Y/N is an Avatar, she becomes more sensitive than before. When she was pleasuring herself, Miles heard her and decided to check up on her.
TW: grammar error, minors DNI, 18+, dom! Quaritch, swearing, smut, fingering, masturbating, thigh riding, p in v, rough s3x, daddy kink, breeding kink, choking, milking.
Disc: this is my first time writing smut, I hope you like it
Y/N's POV
I can feel the rush of adrenaline inside of me. My heart is beating so fast, I'm very tense right now and I need to get out of this room. The team and I, along with the Colonel are currently having a meeting with the general. We are discussing a plan on how to find Jake Sully and his family. But right now, all I can think of is that I need to go to my quarters so I can be done with all of this shit. I can't help but squeeze my thighs together, waiting for the meeting to be over.
Author's POV
Miles was standing behind you, leaning against the wall while listening to what the general was saying. He couldn't help but noticed your discomfort, he approached you from behind and he lowered his head down right next to your ear, "The hell is goin' on with ya ?" He whispered.
You can't help but got more aroused because of his damn raspy voice, and his hot breath hitting your cheek. "It's nothing sir, I'm fine." you replied with an annoyed tone.
He let out a "tskk," laid his hand on your lower back- a little too low, "You better stop jumpin' on your seat like an anxious, needy animal, lieutenant." his face is so close to the side of your face, if you turned your head your nose would definitely touch his.
You didn't answer him this time, and decided to sit still. He moved to take a seat beside you and he put his hand on your thigh, "Yeah there's somethin' going on with you, doll... but you're not so good at sharing things, ain't ya ?" He chuckled lightly. You swat his hand away, lightly hissed at him. His veined hand on your thigh only worsened the situation you're in. Quaritch is not always this touchy with other people. But with you, oh does he love to tease & taunt you. Sometimes he'd snake his hand around your waist or when you're trying to shoot at something he will stood very close behind you, or even press himself against your back. "Eyes on the price, cupcake." He'd whisper to your ear with his raspy voice. But it's just a friendly remark, right?
You felt the pool between your legs, your arousal getting stronger every second and now you can only hope that he can't smell you.
Oh he knows what he's doing earlier. He wouldn't admit it to himself but he got a thing for you. You're one of the best soldier, very skilled at combat. Also, the way your hips and tail swayed when you walk, you wouldn't notice this but he always stares at you. You always wear a tight tank top and shorts because it is hot here in Pandora, and he loves your curves. He knew that it was wrong to think of you as more than co-workers. But he can't help it.
"All right, that's it for today. Colonel, I hope your team will be ready for the journey." Said the General. The meeting has ended. Quaritch nodded at her, you quickly stood after the General exited the room, and you headed towards your room.
----
Miles was watching from behind, He knew what was happening. you fidgeting on your seat, sweating, your skin hot when he laid his hand on your thigh. It's mating season and not just her, but he, too, is in a super sensitive state. He can smell your sweet scent just from standing behind you. Watching you squirm when he gripped your thigh turned him on, he imagined the things he wanted to do to you. He's better than you at hiding his state, of course. 'Oh, just from the smell I can tell that it tastes & feels good,' He smirked at the thought.
After everyone went back to their rooms, he stayed outside a little longer, thinking about you. Specifically at what are you doing at the moment. It's getting late and he decided to get some sleep, when he walked passed your room all of the sudden he heard a strange noise coming from inside.
Miles' POV
"nngghh~ ahh... fuck..."
I heard it. And I know what she's doing. Shit, hearing her moan like that made me hard. I can't help but imagine how she moans my name. 'It's inappropriate, she's your co-worker.' My mind said. But it didn't stopped me from pressing my ear to her door. She was a moaning mess, and I can tell that she's about to cum. I really want to go inside and help her. Fuck, she's so hot I need to be inside her so badly. When I was pressing my ear against her door, it opened a little. 'Fuck, she didn't lock it,'. And right there on her bed, I can see her. Pants off, Legs spread. She's fingering herself with two fingers, while rubbing her clit with her other hand. She bucked her hips to the air while closing her eyes. 'What a sight.' I thought. I can feel my cock getting really hard. I was about to leave then I heard her unexpectedly moans, "Oh, daddy... oh, Miles~~ fuuckk, need ya so bad..."
Author's POV
He heard you. You whining his name while you cum. That's his last straw. He can't hold it anymore, he needed to fuck you. That is the most important thing on his mind right now. He's drenched in sweats, his muscles tense. He closed the door quietly, and waited a minute to knock harshly to it. After you put a pants on you opened the door, still breathing heavily. You're shocked when you saw him standing right in front of you, scared that he might heard you from earlier.
Y/N's POV
"Colonel Quaritch. wha- can I help you ?" I said with a stern tone, hiding my grogginess, my eyes not meeting his. I'm scared, feared that he heard me earlier. And fuck, I forgot to lock my door. It will be very awkward for us both if he saw or heard all that.
He didn't say anything but kept his eyes on me. He took a few steps towards me, made me back away and he shut the door, locking it. Then, it happened in a blink of an eye. He slammed my back against the wall, his hands gripping both my wrists above my head. His sudden movement caught me off guard, what the hell is he doing?
"Fucking let go of me!" I snapped at him, but he didn't budge. "What the hell is wro-" I was trying to talk him out of whatever he wanted to do to me but he cutt me off, "Shut your fucking mouth. I heard ya alright, and next time you should make sure that the door is locked and completely shut so no one can see you, Lieutenant." He spat at me.
I cursed myself, embarrassed that he heard AND saw me. I am too weak and overwhelmed to fight him back. His grip is very strong. The room became so hot, I can feel the tension in the air. Both of us like to playfully flirt and touch with one another, but right now it felt different. His scent is strong, his eyes wild and full of hunger. I have never seen him like this before, like an animal. "I didn't know that you're so desperate for me.. so.. needy. what, you want me to touch you? hmm.." His face is only a few inches away from mine now. I whined, I can feel myself getting wet again because of him. Of his presence in front of me. I shut my legs together but he forced it open with his knee. "Oh, don't act all shy now Sweetheart... not while a moment ago you were moaning my name while you touched yourself," he said with a seductive tone, with a menacing smile on his face.
Author's POV
At this point you're sitting on his thigh, your sensitive core rubs against his thigh. He can feel how wet you are, and that made him harder than before. You can feel how he flexed his thigh beneath you. "Ride, sweetheart. I wanna see you cum just from riding my thigh." You obeyed him, You start to move your hips, grinding on his thigh, your clit brushed the fabric of his pants. You started to move faster, chasing your release. At a time like this, you don't have any self-respect for yourself.
Watching you ride his thigh made his cock twitched, His desire to fuck you is stronger than ever. He never thought that this could happen. And boy, he's very happy that he gets to do this in his new life.
He leaned his face to your ear, he darkly chuckled, "that's it.. just like that... Scream my name when you cum, baby." He then started to suck your neck, that made you moan loudly, and trails kisses down to your collarbone. He doesn't like the fact that you're still wearing your top. He ripped the top that you were wearing and tossed it to the side.
He groaned at the sight, your chest going up and down, your nipples hard. He leaned down and sucked your left nipple sloppily while one of his hand left your wrist and started to toy with your right boob, massaging it.
"So pretty.. so delicious, all just for me.." he hummed. "Nggh... I'm so close.. Oh god.." you move your hips faster, desperate to cum. You can feel the wetness trailing down your thighs. "Miles.. I- I'm gonna- oh Miles! Ahh~~" you cum undone beneath him, you feel your legs trembling and your knees weak. You moaned so loud that he had to silence you by pressing his lips to yours. The kiss was rough and sloppy, but it felt really good.
You're still overwhelmed and breath not steady, but he couldn't wait any longer. He let go of your wrist then picked you up and laid your back to the bed. He removed his top then hurriedly unbuckled his belt, taking off his pants. He's completely naked now. You can see all of his muscles flexing. You can't help but to stare at his toned abs, his v-line, his slim waist... 'how can someone have such slutty looking waist?' You thought to yourself.
And his cock. It is so big you doubt that it would fit. His dick is long and hard, you can see the pre-cum on the pink tip. He noticed that you're looking and the worried look on your face, "don't worry sweetheart.. I'm sure you can take it," He climbed to the bed and hovering on top of you, "and if you can't, you still have to."
He teased your entrance with his finger, playing with your fold, feeling the wetness that he caused. You can't help but wrapped your tail around his arm, to feel him close. He can feel how you squirmed at his touch, "Enough with the teasing, daddy please..." you whined, arching your back lightly. He likes the fact that he's the one in control, likes to see you begged for him.
He slips his two long fingers into your wet cunt, making you gasp at the feeling. "Shh.. you gotta keep it quiet, honey. We don't want anyone to be suspicious, right?" He then thrusts into you in a fast pace, stretching your pussy. Since you have to be quiet, you can only gripped his bicep tightly and shut your eyes. Then you feel it again, the tightness in your stomach. Quaritch knows just by the way your walls clenched on his fingers, he stopped fingering you when you were about to cum. You whined and opened your eyes, looking at him with pleading eyes while he only smirked.
Frustrated, you tried to touch yourself but he tugged your tail and his other hand wrapped around your neck. "Daddy didn't say that you could touch yourself, baby. You can cum when I allow you to. If you wanna cum you'll have to be a good girl for daddy, yeah?"
You pouted and nodd, looking at him with glossy eyes. His patience is wearing thin, he moved his hand from your tail to rubb your ass and slapped it. "Use. Your. Words." He said each word by landing a smack on your ass. "Yes! Nghh... pleasee~~" you whimpered, unable to contain yourself. "You should address me properly and be specific, Princess." He landed another slap on your now red ass.
"Pleasee sir.. I need you to fuck me and make me cum... I want you to cum inside me, Miles!" You sobbed, and by the expression of his face, he seemed to be satisfied. He lined his thick, throbbing cock to your pussy, slowly entering. Both of you moaned at the feeling, you felt his tail wrapping around your thigh.
He's only halfway in your thight cunt when you whined again, "I- it's so big, daddy~~" you were trying to push him away when he gripped your waist and shoved all of him into you. You moaned, feeling the pain and the pleasure at the same time.
"Shit.. you're so tight, baby girl" he closed his eyes, feeling you in. He didn't let you adjust, he started fucking you in a fast pace, his hand still choking you and the other holding your leg to the side of his waist. It's mating season and his heat overcame his patience, he just wants to fuck you without mercy and breed you.
His breathing becomes heavy, ears going down and eyes rolling because of the pleasure, "Ohh fuuckk... you're mine now, baby. Shit- I'm lying to myself if I said that I haven't thought about fucking you, nghh~~ gonna breed ya good, babygirl.." he fucks you harder, his hand leaving your neck and pulled your waist to him so he can go deeper. The pleasure is too much for you, he's too deep inside of you, you're overwhelmed and you can feel your cunt clenched around him, about to cum.
He pounded into you mercilessly, hovering on top of you while your hands roamed on his back leaving scratches. "That's it, baby... good girl... takin' me so well..." he mumbled praises to your ear, you can only answer with loud moans and whines, the pleasure is too much. His hand found your throbbing clit, circling it in a slow pace. Your moans become louder than ever, he kissed you to suppress your moans while still drilling into your tight cunt. He then started to give little bites on your neck and whisper dirty things to your ear.
"Daddy please," you pleaded, you can't hold it much longer, not when he fucks you roughly like this. "Aww, you wanna cum, baby? You wanna milk me?" He mocked you, his thrusts getting faster and rougher. "F-ffuckk, Miles... ahh~~ I.. wanna.. yeah~" you stumbled with your words. His finger rubs your clit and he breathed, "Do it, baby.. I want you to scream my name while you cum on my cock," he said.
"M-miles~~ ahh fuck.. you fuck me soo good.." You let out a high pitched moan while you cum beneath him. He didn't slow his pace and this overstimulated you. "Fuck, baby... almost there.. fuck, I can't get enough of ya," he let out a few grunts and moaned when he cum his load inside you, filling your pussy with his seed.
Now that you can think much clearer, you realised that just had sex with the Colonel, your leader. You couldn't meet his eyes, you looked anywhere but him. "Hey, what's wrong? Did I hurt you?" He asked, concern written all over his face. You finally looked at Miles, "No, of course not. It's just... I wonder if- if this is just a one time thing" You softly said to him. He laughed at this, moving to the side and pulled you to his chest, holding you in. "What, you think I'm gonna let ya go ? Y/N, I missed my opportunity in my past life to be with you, I ain't missing it this time." You smiled and gave him a passionate kiss, that night both of you fell asleep in each other's arms.

Hello again. ) I'm still thinking about the dancing drider. Let's imagine that during another walk through the shadows, Kar'niss found a group of dead people. One of them had a gramophone - the technology of big cities. And a bag of records. Kar'niss takes the find with him and one day, when no one bothers him, he figures out how it works. He listens to music and remembers that he was once trained to dance and did it well. Now he is trying to repeat those movements again… And someone who likes him is surreptitiously watching him. What happens then? I hope it is an interesting idea) Thank you.
[Link to AO3 Mirror]
Another day, another patrol through the Shadowlands. Kar’niss was alone this day and at times he preferred it as such, allowing him moments where he could converse with his Queen uninterrupted. Rarely did the voices answer back which allowed him to prattle on about everything and nothing as his leisure. The drider marched through the darkness with moon lantern in hand only coming to pause when he noticed something strange on the road ahead. He approached to investigate coming to discover a fallen convoy of travelers who were likely unprepared for the horrors of these cursed lands. Bodies were strewn over the road alongside an overturned cart, the beast who had been pulling it long gone.
The drider skittered over to closely examine the carnage, lifting his lantern to better shed light on the situation. The bodies were in various states of ruin, cut up and slashed either by knife or by claw. The damage was too great to discern either possibility but one thing Kar’niss knew for certain was that they were dead. He grabbed the corpse of a gnome male by the collar to hoist them up and sniff in their direction. His nose crinkled with disappointment able to tell that their blood had long gone cold and wasn’t suitable for feasting. He’d snort while he casually tossed the cadaver aside letting it land where it would. He was prepared to abandon the grizzly but common sight and continue on his way. That is until he caught sight of something glimmering in his peripheral. He’d crane his head to peer down at a pile of abandoned items strewn across the dead earth until he spied a partially open box.
He reached out to push the lid open the rest of the way revealing a bizarre device tucked away within. A wide, brass funnel protruded from the top of the object, wide and rounded at the mouth. It was attached to a rosewood box with intricate gold symbols woven into the wood grain on all sides. He assumed it to be in a language he did not know. A round turn table sat at it’s center with a peculiar metal arm hovering inches from its surface, a narrow needle fastened to the arms end. Tucked in a separate bag were a series of black discs, all with little holes bored into their centers.
“What is this, Majesty?” Kar’niss said.
The drider leaned over to peer into the dark funnel to see if something was hidden inside. Perhaps this was an oddly shaped home for a fey creature like the one trapped in his lantern? He’d lower the light source down and speak directly to the entity within, a pixie known as Dolly Thrice.
“Little nuisance, what do you know of this strange item?” Kar’niss lowered the lantern closer to it so the fey inside might shed some insight.
“So the reject wants answers? This box is not for you, it’s for dancers,” said the small voice within.
Kar’niss squinted at the reply. “Dancers? What cryptic non-sense. Speak plain!”
“I can show you if you set me free. If you deny my wish then you can blow me!”
Kar’niss reared his head back and grit his teeth, an audible growl bubbling from his throat. “We will figure it out ourselves! Majesty will guide us, yes...yes She knows what to do.”
“Ha! A drider with a brain? A notion that is beyond insane. Do not come crying to Dolly Thrice when Ketheric puts your head in a vice. Amused I will be by golly bearing witness to your folly.”
His upper lip curled into an unimpressed sneer. Tempted as he was to toss the moon lantern away he also knew this was a gift from his Queen, his everything. He believed the pixie was there to test his loyalty and test him she did.
Kar’niss collected the box and bag with the black discs juggling them in one arm while the other kept hold of the lantern to light the way. He returned to Moonrise tower, a few guards seen patrolling the outer perimeter.
“The spider freak has returned,” said one guard.
“Hard to even look at,” replied another.
Kar’niss ignored their chiding, they were the Absolute’s chosen after all. He was accustomed to the snide remarks and filthy looks but it didn’t matter. He was safe in the knowledge that his Queen saw something worthy in him, the opinions of others held no weight by comparison. Kar’niss climbed up the interior walls and squeezed through holes in the ceiling, spiriting himself away to one of the more secluded locations to play with his new toy. He squeezed himself into an abandoned room, the area covered in a thin layer of dust and the air thick with the smell of mothballs and age. He’d clear off a small table where he placed the device, setting his lantern aside.
“Hrm.” Kar’niss lowered himself to inspect the device and the discs that came with it. He picked up one of the records and examined it, peeking through the hole at it’s center. He’d then bite into it as if it were a thin sandwich, his expression immediately turning sour from the unfavorable taste. He’d stick his tongue out and shake his head with disgust before placing the disc down onto the table.
“Of course a mindless beast would think it’s edible. Are you sure your intelligence is credible?” Dolly Thrice chided from within her glass prison.
“Shut up!” Kar’niss snarled, his legs clicking at the ground in aggravation. He sucked in a shaken breath as his hand rubbed along the back of his neck, his pedipalps trembling against his torso. “We are smart, we can figure it out.”
While he was put off by the nosy pixie close by he was determined to unlock the secrets of the item one way or another. His gaze caught sight of the golden crank attached to the side of the box. He recognized similar mechanisms on music boxes or gate lifts. His clawed hands grabbed the handle and turned the arm slowly winding it up. When he released the arm he noticed it began to turn on it’s own and so did the circular table at the center of the box. He bit his lower lip as the cogs in his mind whirled with thought trying to put pieces together. He retrieved another record and turned it over in his hands, his eyes darting from the disc to the turn table taking note that both were roughly the same size. That and there was a protruding piece of metal at the center of the turn table that looked to fit the hole in the disc.
“Is this right, my Queen? Yes, we think it must be.”
He placed the record down onto the protruding nub which secured it in place. Sure enough it began to spin in place, powered by the mechanisms within. Kar’niss’ lips curled into a self-satisfied smile, his chest puffing out to signify pride in his discovery. The celebration was short lived, morphing into renewed confusion. What purpose did a spinning disc serve? He scratched his head and eyeballed every part of the gadget until he rediscovered the arm. It hovered above the record as if waiting to make contact, itching to be united. With some hesitation he applied pressure to the lever until the needle beneath made contact. At first all he could hear was strange popping sound coming from the brass cone on top which made his head tip curiously.
“I do not understand,” Kar’niss said.
Before the drider could check to make sure he did it right the loud boom of music erupted from the cone. The unexpected noise put Kar’niss in a panic, the drider quick to back away against a nearby wall and lift up his front legs into a defensive stance which exposed his underbelly, the back four remaining firmly planted on the ground. His heart pounded in his chest, his hand clinging to the hilt of his sword over his shoulder, all of his eyes wide and on alert. His reaction caused Dolly Thrice to howl with laughter within her cage, finding the entire thing ridiculous. The music continued to play a calming waltz melody, a tune that echoed throughout the room he was in. After his breathing grew steady he’d lower his front legs and frown, maintaining distance but curious all the same.
[Music]
“What sort of magic is this?” Kar’niss asked, voice barely above a whisper.
“The drider does not know? My, he really is slow,” Dolly Thrice chirped. “Four bards offended a wizard most cruel and he would not be made a fool. A choice he did give if the musicians wished to live. Be shrunk down and forever enslaved to the box or curse their loved ones with the deadly pox? To spare the ones they cherished so they promised to put on a show. In this wooden prison they must stay, performing for their master night and day!”
Kar’niss squinted when she offered the sorrowful explanation. He carefully approached the gramophone and looked it up and down, his gaze scrutinizing. “There are...people in here?” Kar’niss tapped the side of the device with a claw, expecting to hear cries for help or some other response by doing so. Of course nothing of the sort happened and it only increased his confusion further. He didn’t understand that the pixie was having fun at his expense.
Now that the initial shock had passed it gave Kar’niss a moment to focus on the song being played. While it wasn’t a melody he was accustomed to it did remind him of days gone by. He was often tasked to dance for the Matrons at feasts and other ceremonious events. The women admired him for his beauty and how well he moved, a man that had more grace than any would assume now. His body began to sway without him realizing it, those long legs swinging on their joints to carry his over-sized body this way and that. He didn’t understand why it mesmerized him so but the song did well to drown out the voices in his mind which were always vying for his attention. This was a rare moment of focus for him and it did well to relax the normally alert creature.
The music had filtered out into the hallway, catching the attention of Tav who was walking by. It was unusual to hear music in the tower, especially such a robust theme most were incapable of playing. They approached the door and gently turned the handle, pushing the door open a crack to peek inside. To their surprise they saw Kar’niss swaying to the beat, his eyes locked on the peculiar device where the sound came from. They watched while Kar’niss surrendered his body to the music, his movements growing more animated the higher his confidence climbed. Tav kept themselves hidden from view, unable to resist watching the rare performance.
Kar’niss lifted his arms above his head and curled his hips in time with the way of his body, his front two legs tapping the ground in time to the beat while the rest remained planted in place. His pedipalps lifted one at a time, curling outward one after the other as if they were walking on air. The bulky arachnid abdomen wiggled side to side, the muscles on his torso tensing beneath the chitin armor while putting them to use. His legs carried him into motion, stepping forward then back time and time again, even bold enough to turn his entire body in place. His arms swayed in an arc from his chest then back in. Tav smiled to themselves, feeling a sense of relief that perhaps Kar’niss wasn’t as lost as previously assumed. It gave them hope and encouraged them not to give up on him just yet. One would be forgiven for thinking Kar’niss was under the effect of a charm spell, lost in the rare moment of self-indulgent joy.
Such distractions would prove to be Kar’niss’ undoing. Lost as he was to the tune he didn’t pay mind to his surroundings, nor the many obstacles in his path. Upon spinning around for the second time one of his legs slipped into the open slot at the back of a wooden chair, catching him mid-step. Now tangled and in the process of circular momentum he didn’t have time to stop himself. His legs curled and staggered, the room turning upside down as the drider crashed onto his side, the chair splintering apart beneath the full bulk of his body. Kar’niss cried out from both fear and a bit of pain, the shards of wood cutting into him and his leg twisted in a way that was uncomfortable. Thankfully it did not break. Tav gasped at the sight and pushed into the room even though it revealed they had been spying on him.
“Kar’niss, are you alright?!” Tav rushed to his side and hurriedly yanked what wood pieces they could from beneath him.
Dolly Thrice squealed with laughter at the sight of the poor drider. “Eight legs better than two? Not when it comes to you!”
Tav shot the lantern a dirty glare. “It’s not funny, Dolly. Leave him be.”
Kar’niss hissed in pain and embarrassment, his legs kicking out in an effort to right himself. “Don’t touch us! Go away, GO AWAY!” Kar’niss roared as he pushed Tav off, barely managing to get himself upright.
Tav backed off and held up their hands in a defensive manner. “It’s alright, Kar’niss. I’m just trying to help you. It was an accident, that’s all.”
The drider limped toward a corner and clumsily climbed the wall, his back leg still sore but intact. He’d retreat to the dark spot and curl in on himself, not wanting to be seen by anyone. Tav frowned, glancing over their shoulder at the device just as the song came to an end. They approached and looked at it quietly, not wanting to leave Kar’niss alone even if he argued otherwise. Tav was ready to reach out and touch the equipment until the drider interjected from his corner.
“No! The bards are sleeping now,” he grumbled.
Tav’s brow lofted. “Bards?”
Kar’niss inched forward until his face was partially exposed by the dim light in the room. “The little nuisance told us of the bards inside the box.”
Tav squinted and exhaled a deep, exhausted breath. “Did she?” They wandered over and picked up the moon lantern, speaking directly to its host. “You shouldn’t tease Kar’niss like that, much less fill his head with non-sense.”
“Easy for the tall one to say. They don’t have to sit in this lantern all day."
“I know. But he is just as much a victim as you. Give me time, I’ll work it out.” Tav placed the torch back in its corner and turned to approach the humiliated drider glued to the wall. “Everything is alright. Please come down.”
Kar’niss shook his head and retreated back into his corner. “No.”
Tav hummed and planted their hands on their hips taking a moment to contemplate. They’d turn and began clearing a space in the room, pushing furniture aside and any other obstacles that likely didn’t favor spider legs. They clapped dust free from their hands once finished, returning to Kar’niss who kept a curious eye on things.
“There, plenty of space for you now.” Tav extended a hand in his direction, fingers outstretched. “If you come down I’ll even tell you what the device really is.”
He eyeballed the hand reaching for him, his hair dangling freely over his shoulder. After he thought the offer through he crept forward and clapped his hand into Tav’s own. The adventurer walked backward to lead Kar’niss down off the wall and back onto solid ground, smiling at him.
“What is it?” Kar’niss asked. Tav let go of his hand and returned to the location of the player. “It’s called a gramophone. It’s a relatively new invention and one only nobles can really afford at the minute. These discs are called records because they record sound or voices which the gramophone can play back. The song you were listening to is referred to as a waltz.”
“Wah-ults?” Kar’niss cocked his head to one side, the sound of the word on his tongue strange to him.
“Waltz, yes. It’s a kind of dance mostly popular in noble circles, although it is gaining traction across the classes. I can show you if you’d like,” Tav said.
The drider shook his head and shrank visibly. “N-No, we are too clumsy.”
“I don’t think you are, not at all. You were doing really well before you got into a fight with the chair. Now that there is space you should be fine. It’s a fairly simple dance to do.” Tav approached the gramophone and moved the needle back to the beginning of the record. They wound up the crank until it could budge no further, letting it go so the music kicked back in. They’d return to Kar’niss who was wound tighter than a spring, terrified of making another mistake especially in front of Tav. But they were not as worried, taking his hand into their own. “Now you place your hand on my hip, like this. One of my hands goes on your shoulder and the other takes your hand into mine.” Tav did exactly as instructed, stepping in closer so their hips rested between his pedipalps.
Kar’niss’ breath hitched in his throat with how close they were, closer than he was used to being with anyone who didn’t become a meal. His rounded abdomen trembled with nerves and his palms sweat, far more vulnerable than he cared to be. He trusted Tav more than he was willing to admit and he was interested in this dance they spoke of. The least he could do was give it a chance. Tav nodded and waited for the proper beat to step to the side, leading Kar’niss at first so he could get used to the rhythm.
“One, two, three. One, two, three,” Tav counted off.
Kar’niss followed along, stumbling at first as the movements were tricky with this body. Tav counting along with the steps did aid him in following, the pair dancing together from one side of the room to the next. They spun around together, the sound of Tav’s footsteps mingled with the steady clicking of Kar’niss’ pointed legs. He kept his body lowered enough to where Tav didn’t strain maintaining their hold, the pair soon finding a rhythm that worked for them both. The more he shook off his nerves the more he realized he was having fun, a concept foreign to him. He watched Tav who was smiling back at him, the duo gliding across the floor as if it were a ballroom and they were center stage. Kar’niss’ steps were wide but carefully taken while Tav kept their movements short and easy to follow. Once they were certain he had a grasp on the dance moves Tav leaned back, releasing his shoulder and maintaining the grasp on his hand, in order to spin around in place and return to their former position. Kar’niss’ eyes went wide with some surprise at how fluid the movement was, impressed.
Tav leaned in and rested their head against his shoulder, nestling their face against his neck. The drider felt a swelling in his chest, blood rushing to his face which caused a rosy hue to blossom over the normally pale surface. The hand planted on Tav’s waist opted to wander, his palm sliding around the small of their back so his arm could tug them in closer, securing them against his body. His pedipalps followed suit, fastening around the curve of their backside to hold tight. In that single moment of bliss the pair left Moonrise and the Shadow curse behind. No one else existed save for themselves, locked in a romantic embrace where they might savor the company of one another. This was their time, their moment, it belonged to no one else.
Like all good things this, too, was fated to end. The melody began to slow down, reaching its final notes to signify the finale. The duo slowed their movements to match and soon came to a stop, silence falling over the darkened room they stood in. Tav leaned back and looked into Kar’niss’ eyes, a gaze that was returned in kind by the drider. They reached up to caress the side of his face with their fingertips, feeling over the scars and the uneven surface of the chitin lining his jaw. Both felt the tension rising between them, the normally reclusive drider finding the courage to lean in closer to Tav, bridging the gap between their lips. Tav’s eyes fluttered shut, their trembled lips growing painfully close to touching.
“Dolly Dolly Dolly wishes they would stop. I cannot bear to watch this slop!” Dolly Thrice called out from her cage. “If unholy sins you want to commit at least first toss this pixie into a pit.”
Kar’niss jolted from the sudden lecture, jerking away from Tav with a frown etched on his face. Tav winced and side eyed the moon lantern. They knew Kar’niss valued the damn thing but frankly they were coming to terms with the idea of making it disappear, permanently.
“Thanks Dolly. You always know how to enhance a mood,” Tav sighed.
The drider wrinkled his nose and released Tav from his grip, his legs shifting beneath him with anxious energy. “It is alright, we have wasted too much time here. Majesty calls, we must fulfill Her bidding.” He stepped away from Tav and retrieved the annoying but useful lantern, skittering toward a hole in the ceiling so he might retreat to the top of the tower. Tav looked on and crossed their arms, disappointed that he was departing but they also knew better than to push their luck. “As you wish. Perhaps...we might do this again sometime.”
Kar’niss paused at the opening, taking a moment to glance over his shoulder at his companion. “Perhaps.” He pressed his lips together and tipped his chin up. “Thank you for teaching us this...wall-utz.” From there he squeezed his way through the opening and disappeared from sight.
Tav stood back, reaching out apply a glancing touch to the side of the gramophone. They smiled and leaned back against the table.
“You’re welcome, Kar’niss.”

More rough draft ideas for the Anastasia AU. This one is the bro's reunion, so if you don't want to spoil yourself for the story I have planned, maybe skip it! (tag will be #au spoilers)
~ also note that (due to memory loss) Mario goes by "Maurice" ~
* * *
They agreed to meet at the fire flower field.
"I'm sorry", Maurice began, softly. "I didn’t want to decieve you. I just...wanted to find out where I come from."
The Prince breathed in deeply, and then out through his nose like he was lifting a weight from his whole body.
"I'm just...so tired", he said weakly. "I'm tired of being tricked."
He raised a hand and aggressively wiped away tears that had already started spilling down his cheeks. Maurice, for reasons he could not fathom why, made to move forward, his hand reached out. However, he quickly drew back as he realised what he was about to do.
Prince Luigi looked back at him.
"You look so much like him. And you're so kind. That's what hurts the most."
Feeling more courage, Maurice gingerly stepped closer.
"Just, please tell me. Who am I?"
He clasped his music box to his chest. The Prince's eyes widened.
"Where did you get get that?"
Maurice looked at it, startled.
"I don't know. I've had it as long as I can remember. I think it's-"
But he stopped himself as he watched the Prince dig into his pocket, and bring out a music box of his own. This one was moon shaped, but the craftsmanship was very like Maurice's.
"Funny", said the Prince. "My music box is supposed to match with my brother's. A sun and a moon. A pair bound together. Would be funny, if you were an imposter, and you had just crafted a fake one just like his."
Maurice swallowed.
"I don't...know. Mine...could be fake. It has weird writing on the back. Might just be a signature or something."
He froze as some form of emotion went over the Prince's face.
"Can I see?"
Prince Luigi put his hand out. Maurice didn't miss the fact that it was trembling. He obeyed.
The Prince took his music box in the other hand, his pupils dilated, and he turned it so Maurice could see there was an inscription on the back.
, as long as we're together.
"My brother and I used to say that all the time to each other", the Prince said, his lip quivering. "We thought it would be fun to inscribe it on the back, so we carried a half each, and remember that we were never alone."
He held out the music boxes side by side. As Maurice looked, he saw that the inscriptions came together to form a full sentence.
Nothing can hurt us, as long as we're together.
"And that's always true", Maurice found himself saying with no warning.
He stopped. Now he was the one trembling.
Prince Luigi then tapped the top of his own music box, and an oddly shaped disc popped out. Taking it, the Prince then inserted it into the front of Maurice's.
"I didn't even know that was there!", he said in awe.
"A secret compartment in each of the boxes", the Prince explained. "That could only be accessed by the other's key."
He then twisted the box. The bottom slid away, revealing a smaller compartment with a tightly folded piece of paper inside.
The Prince handed the box out to Maurice, his eyes begging the younger man to open the paper.
Maurice was not going to argue. Unfolding the paper in shaking hands, he found it was a photo of two little boys. Both exactly alike, but a little different at the same time. They were smiling, holding each other like there wasn't a care on the world.
Prince Luigi had opened up his own secret compartment. Inside was the same photo. A copy.
"So that you two will always carry a happy memory with you."
Maurice stared at the photos. This really was it. He wasn't feeling like this was strange anymore. This was real, and he knew who he was.
He looked back up at the Prince. Luigi was crying, a hand pressed to his mouth as silent tears spilled out, his expression looking like it was begging for this to be true.
"Hi bro", Mario smiled.
The tears were shed on each other's shoulders, as they held each other tight amongst the fire flowers...

hi! im really curious about your thoughts on oot, i'm trying really hard to like it and i wanna see what you enjoy about it
Hi!!! I'm going to do my best to explain exactly why I like oot but there is a TON of ground to cover. i have already written a bit about the story and my thoughts on it in this document, but this is a much more in-depth analysis of the symbolism and implied narrative which i think may be more helpful to you if you're struggling to get into the story and gameplay!
oot is my favorite zelda game of all time and was what made me fall in love with the series, but I will concede that it shows its age, especially with the insane advancements that video games have made over the past 2 decades or so since its release. Try to remember when playing it that it came out in 1998, when a game with any sort of 3d graphics at all was still new and exciting. some of its gameplay is going to be a bit dated, unfortunately, and it's totally reasonable to dislike that aspect of it i think! If you really find yourself struggling with gameplay, i recommend zeldadungeon.net for dungeon walkthroughs. they have very concise and easy-to-follow walkthroughs for the entire game which make the gameplay MUCH smoother for first-time players! there's no shame in needing walkthrough help in these dungeons, ESPECIALLY some of the later ones which get notoriously convoluted and difficult. that being said, even if you use walkthroughs, I'd encourage you to still pay attention to the dungeon's designs and details as a lot of thought was put into these designs and I think they're still some of the strongest in the series! gameplay-wise I'd also say that there are a lot of little collectibles that will seem like they're way more important than they are to new players. you don't need the skulltulas (they get you a bigger wallet), you don't need to complete any trading sequences, you don't even REALLY need to go out of your way to collect any of the extra heart pieces, the game is perfectly beatable with just the hearts you'll get from dungeons. Knowing all these things going in will really streamline your gaming experience and make things easier for you if you're getting put off by the 90s-style game design.
As for what i really love about the series, it's the story. And i understand that if you're not someone who makes a habit of analyzing media to an obsessive degree, at first glance oot doesn't seem to have a lot of story. A simple fact of old game design is that more dialog and cutscenes meant more storage space was needed, and the biggest constraint in game design at the time was the limited amount of storage a disc or cartridge could hold. What this means is that storytelling in older games like oot takes a very different form than the cutscene and dialog-heavy storytelling that games tend to use nowadays. the storage restrictions on the game meant that a lot of oot's story had to be told implicitly, via details and worldbuilding and actions carried out by the player. I know this can make it difficult to grasp at first glance! that's why i love to analyze it and talk about it, because I want people to understand how rich and well-told oot's narrative actually is and i know that most people aren't as willing to put in the work as i am, lol. with that being said, this is where the spoilers are gonna start! i'm gonna recap and analyze most of oot's story here, so if you're not looking for spoilers scroll away now and experience the game for yourself!!
oot is at its roots a story about adults failing children. i will elaborate on this point a bit more later, but for now let's look at our opening segment. We are introduced to our link, the youngest link in the franchise, at nine years old. From the get-go, we as the player are told that link's hylian parents died in a conflict very shortly after he was born, leaving him in kokiri forest to be raised by the deku tree, among the kokiri.
The kokiri are a race of eternal children. what this means, essentially, is that we begin the story with a link wearing rose-tinted glasses. the kokiri live forever without aging or dying, and they never leave the forest. Link has grown up isolated and without any concept of aging or death. he has been told by the deku tree, his father-figure, that he IS a kokiri and therefore will never age or die. Despite this, link does have a crucial difference from the rest of the kokiri that even he is aware of--he has no fairy. If you talk to the kokiri in the initial kokiri forest segment of the game, many of them will talk down to you or make remarks about you finally getting a fairy, reminding the player that link knows SOMETHING is wrong with him, that he's different from the other kids somehow, but he's not yet been able to pinpoint what.
we come to our first dungeon segment, where the deku tree summons link and tells him that he's dying and that link must defeat a monster to save him. when the player completes this objective, the deku tree dies anyway, revealing that he knew all along he couldn't be saved and lied to link about it in order to get him to do the dungeon. with his dying breath, he tells link to leave the forest and find princess zelda. (worth noting that up until this point, link has been told that leaving the forest will KILL HIM.) this is the first major failure of an adult we see, and as the inciting incident of the game it sets the tone very nicely for the rest of the shitshow. The deku tree lies to link his entire life about who he is, and then spends his dying moments lying to link AGAIN, specifically in service of a greater plan to turn link into the savior of hyrule by sending him to help princess zelda. this point is crucial--the deku tree has clear-cut, understandable reasons behind acting the way he does. It would have been much easier on link to allow him to grow up isolated among the kokiri, and it removes a lot of the potential danger he would have faced as an orphan in hyrule in the aftermath of the war which killed his parents. (we will later see that hyrule is in no way a safe place for a child on their own.) Explaining all the magical-destiny lore to a nine year old had the potential to scare him away from the task ahead, as did admitting to him that there was no way to save the deku tree. But lying to him about it all still ultimately deeply hurt him. this is the stage upon which the rest of the game will build.
Link, freshly traumatized by the death of his tree dad, leaves kokiri forest. he goes to castle town and meets princess zelda, a girl no older than him. Princess zelda tells him that she fears for the safety of her kingdom, but that no one will listen to her when she tries to warn them of the danger. this is our second adult failing--the entire conflict around which this game centers could have been prevented if only any adult was willing to listen to zelda's concerns about ganondorf. But because she is a child she is dismissed over and over again until she finally turns to ANOTHER child for help. her plan for link involves him retrieving objects needed to open the gateway to the sacred realm within the temple of time, which i know sounds like a bunch of confusing lore shit but all you really need to understand is that there's a gateway to what is essentially godlike power inside this temple, and zelda wants link to open the gateway and claim the power before ganondorf can. link already has one of the 3 keys he needs--it was the reward for killing the deku tree beating the first dungeon in kokiri forest, and zelda takes this as proof enough that he will be able to find the other two.
in these first three dungeon segments, link is confined to his nine-year-old form. His sword is wooden and deals considerably less damage than it will later in the game, and in each of the dungeon segments there are reminders of the way being a child affects his autonomy in hyrule--the guard at the gates of death mountain won't let him pass, the zora princess berates him for not being enough of a man, several collectibles are clearly visible but impossible to reach with his current size & ability, etc etc. this section of the game is deliberately juxtaposed against the initial segment in kokiri forest, in which everything was built for someone of link's size and strength and no part of the map was unexplorable or all that challenging. What you're supposed to realize here is that being a kid in hyrule is HARD. you have very little autonomy and are constantly condescended to. One of the few hylian npcs your age, Malon, is a good example of this--in her mini-quest she vents to link about how her father can't see that his stablehand resents him and she's constantly having to look after him without being listened to. She is being given adult responsibilities (looking after her father & the animals on their farm) without adult social status. Her situation is a deliberate parallel to both link and zelda's, though during this 3-dungeon segment of the game it's not immediately clear yet just how much adult responsibility link is actually shouldering. in any case, this is our third example of adults failing children, and the theme begins to be echoed in the worldbuilding of hyrule during this stage as well.
now we come to the initial confrontation, the scene which alters the trajectory of the game and divides what i consider the first and second halves of the gameplay (although the second half is probably much longer lol). Link, having found all 3 keys to the sacred realm, returns to hyrule castle, only to find that ganondorf has attacked, forcing princess zelda to flee with her attendant. He catches one final glimpse of her where she throws him the final key needed to unlock the temple of time: the ocarina. although no words are exchanged between them, it's clear that she's asking link to carry out the rest of her plan on his own and claim the power sealed in the temple before ganondorf can. and so link goes to the temple of time and opens the gateway, but link is nine years old and so link doesn't notice that ganondorf, a trained thief, is following him. When he opens the temple, ganon siezes the power zelda was trying so hard to keep him from finding.
we then pan down to link again, but different. he's changed, he's older. notably, he isn't an adult. he is sixteen years old, physically, but mentally, for both link and the player, no time has passed at all. this is important to keep in mind for the rest of the game--no matter how link may look, he is mentally still nine years old. he wakes up to essentially a lecture from the world's biggest dickhead, the sage rauru. Rauru places the blame for ganondorf's rise to power squarely on link and zelda's shoulders, noting that if link hadn't opened the temple of time in the first place, ganondorf would have never been able to sieze power. he tells link that he placed him into a deep sleep for the past seven years because, at nine years old, he wasn't strong enough physically to take on ganondorf and win. But now, he says, link is old enough to be a real asset. it's time for link to defeat ganondorf.
Once again, we have a clear-cut case of adults failing children. Link and zelda took matters into their own hands BECAUSE of the adults in their lives. for link, it was the deku tree (HIS FATHER)'s dying wish that he help zelda. for zelda, her plan was a last resort after begging every adult in her life to see what was coming and being constantly ignored. now that what she predicted has come to pass, she and link take all the blame for it, for being kids in a difficult position doing the best they could with NO ADULT HELP WHATSOEVER. you can't place the fate of an entire kingdom on the shoulders of two nine year olds and expect it not to fall. but that's what hyrule's adult leaders did, and when the kingdom fell they let the nine-year olds take the blame for it. zelda hasn't been seen for years. she's either dead or in hiding out of shame for her mistake. meanwhile, Link has once again become a pawn in someone else's game. The sage rauru decides for him, without ever consulting him, that he can't be trusted to remain conscious for the seven years between gameplay segments. that he will be safer and happier to remain asleep. anyone who stops for a moment to consider what this might do to link's mental state would have not done this, but rauru sees link as a child, which in hyrule is synonymous with an object to be controlled, with no feelings of his own. he needs to be protected and hidden, regardless of what effect it has on him when he wakes up. nothing else matters as long as he can be kept alive and unharmed. this is a deliberate parallel to the way the deku tree treated link while under his care in kokiri forest--he doesn't need to know the truth, because it's easier and more convenient for everyone else if he doesn't. its effect on his mental state doesn't matter. what matters is that he is kept in a position which is convenient for the adults in his life. this is another reminder of the way in which being so young hurts link, and if I can diverge into real-world relevance for a second, it's an obvious metaphor for the way trauma steals one's childhood. Link was never allowed to grow up normally. he went from being a kid one day to an adult the next, with no time in between to figure anything out. his childhood, his coming-of-age, was stolen from him by greedy adults who needed him to be a pawn in their war.
the dungeons in the adult segment of the game can technically be completed in multiple different orders, but the usual order (and what i think is probably the way the narrative is intended to progress) is to get to the forest temple first, which requires you to reenter kokiri forest, all grown up. it's important to note that up until this point in your gameplay, link still has plausible deniability about his race. sure, he didn't die when he left the forest, but maybe that was a lie told to ALL kokiri. maybe he's still a kokiri and he won't grow up. but now he's got solid proof that he was lied to, and that the safe, beautiful sanctuary he's spent the majority of his life in was never actually meant to be his home. When you return to kokiri forest as an adult, you find that it's nothing like the safe-haven you remember. it's been overrun with monsters that are taller than you now, as an adult. This is a metaphor, obviously, for returning to someplace changed. link goes back to his home and it doesn't feel like his home anymore with all that he knows now. And if the monsters weren't enough, if link talks to the kokiri, cowering in their little kid-sized houses, not a single one of them recognizes him. they address him as an adult they've never met before. to them, it's been seven years, and they've never known a kid to grow into an adult before. but to link, it's been a few days at most, and inside he's still the little boy they knew.
the dungeons in this segment of the game are mostly straightforward training exercises to give link the necessary skills and assets he needs to fight ganondorf. I'll skip over most of them, but there are three things i DO want to highlight about this section of the game: malon, sheik, and the water temple.
Malon is introduced in the first half of the game as an example of another child with very little agency and power. Seven years later, if link visits her again, he will find the ranch in an even worse state, with the stablehand having taken over and kicked out malon's father. Malon stays purely out of fear of what will happen to her horses if she leaves them in his hands. She is an adult now, as you are, and yet she has even less power than before. So much of the first half of oot is framed in such a way that the player wishes link was older. It wants you to think, wouldn't this whole thing be easier if I was an adult? Wouldn't I have more power, more agency? but now that you ARE an adult, you're confronted with the fact that nothing has changed. you are still a pawn in a war against ganondorf. Malon is still trapped at the ranch, forced to endure daily abuse or leave her animal friends to die. however, this segment is also the first time you as the player are given the option to fight back. If you, as a child, have taken the necessary steps to befriend malon and epona, one of her horses, you are able to use the bonds you forged in childhood to run the stablehand off the ranch and return power to malon. this mini-arc with malon is a teaser for the overarching arc of the game--having no power in childhood, believing that adulthood will be your savior, but finding the same powerlessness in adulthood, and ultimately returning to pieces of your childhood in order to finally reclaim your power.
next up is sheik, who is deliberately a mystery for the majority of this segment, but. well. we all know he's zelda, so i'm not going to beat around the bush. Sheik is what has become of zelda in the years since ganondorf took power--where zelda was once strong-willed and refused to stand down in the face of danger, sheik now moves among the shadows, darting in to offer link a bit of help or advice but never getting too close. My reading of this is that zelda, after growing up in the aftermath of her failed plan, was afraid of what she'd done to link. She saw her influence as the thing that brought hyrule to ruin--after all, link never would have opened the door in the temple of time if not for her. The way she sees it, her choice to use him back when they were nine destroyed his life and her kingdom. This is why she's largely absent in this segment of the game, only stepping in for brief moments and disappearing the second link tries to reach out for her. Her character at this point is essentially representative of self-isolation as a coping mechanism.
finally the water temple, which I promise i didn't single out just because it sucks, but i will warn any potential players that it sucks. it's the most convoluted ass design in the world and even with a walkthrough it gets confusing and hard to navigate at times. this is not the point of this paragraph, though. the point of this paragraph is that there is a miniboss in this dungeon that is INCREDIBLY important to link's character and to this day is one of the most well-done and impactful battles i've ever had the pleasure of playing. (side note, why the hell did the himekawa manga make this battle happen at the bottom of the fucking well?? ive believed for years that he was a shadow temple boss because of that. whatever. anyways)
about halfway through this dungeon, you come upon a room that looks like an endless sea of water, with bits of ruins and a single rotting tree in the middle. when you walk into the room, you'll be attacked by a mini-boss that takes the form of link's reflection, black and translucent with glowing red eyes. the miniboss dark link will mimic your attacks and block when you swing, requiring players to be crafty and strategic in order to beat him instead of just swinging with the right weapon at the right time. from a purely gameplay-based standpoint, this fight is sick as hell. it rewards you for thinking on your feet and forces you to come up with real time strategy to beat a foe who genuinely seems to think the same way you do, which is REALLY cool, especially for a game released in nineteen fucking ninety eight. narratively, though, there are symbols upon symbols upon symbols to be picked apart in this fight alone. there's the obvious metaphor of fighting onesself--representative of an internal struggle of some kind. pair that with the set dressing for this arena and the information we already know about link, and things start to fall into place. Link was raised in a lush forest, surrounded on all sides by walls of trees that kept him safe and isolated from the world at large. the minute he left that forest, bits and pieces of his worldview started to fall apart--he learned his identity as a kokiri was a lie, experienced the hardships of being a child in hyrule, and now he's grown up and become a pawn in the fight against ganondorf, losing what little agency he had along with the ability to return to his home in kokiri forest. He finds himself in this illusion room, with a shadow version of himself waiting to attack him, clearly indicating that this room is representative of his state of mind. an endless, desolate landscape stretching out into infinity. no walls to keep him safe, no cover at all save for that one single, ROTTING TREE in the middle. This tree is a symbol of link's mental state. (my evidence for this one spans across a couple games but just trust me when i say this interpretation is grounded in reality it would just take too long to explain) and the tree is not looking good. it is dying. and from this dying tree springs a reflection of himself that link must fight to progress. I think there's an obvious message that's being conveyed here: link regrets leaving kokiri forest. he regrets the way he's been used, the hard truths he has had to learn about the world since he left. He is still mentally nine years old, and as a child he still yearns to return to that safety he was promised in kokiri forest despite knowing that it's no longer there for him to return to. Dark link is representative of all link's fear and regret and turmoil surrounding his destiny and what has been done to him over the last seven years. Because this is a video game, he is able to physically fight those feelings, to defeat the reflection of himself that torments him and walk out of that room at peace, having faced his fears and confronted his true feelings. Narratively, this battle is representative of the ongoing internal struggle link is grappling with over the course of this segment of gameplay, and shows the player how link must overcome those feelings of fear and inadequacy in order to gain the power to defeat ganon.
now we finally come to the ending segment of the game. this is where the lore gets a little bit convoluted and trips some people up. if you're not a lore slave you can basically ignore the triforce thing. the only affect it has on the narrative is that it gives ganondorf a reason to need both link and zelda, since they have the other two pieces of the powerful relic he's after. this is why he kidnaps zelda and taunts link to come rescue her instead of just like. hunting them both for sport in the wilds of hyrule.
the final battle with ganon is the culmination of all your efforts throughout the game. in the leadup to it, the final dungeon reminds you of this by having each of its rooms be a mini-version of one of the previous six temples you completed in the second half of the game. once you finish this final dungeon, you're able to get into the castle. I have to mention one of my favorite design choices in this whole game here, which is the fact that the background music in the castle gets louder the closer you get to the final room, and when you finally get there it's revealed that ganondorf was playing it the whole time. the details in this game make me crazy they're all so well-done. anyways. to discuss this battle we first need to discuss a crucial character who i realize i've forgotten to mention this ENTIRE time somehow: navi.
I love navi. i hate the way she became a joke among fans. this is not the point of this post. the point is that narratively, navi is one of the only GOOD adult figures we see in the entire game. (one could argue that she isn't an adult, but she takes on a guiding and mentor-like role for link so i consider her one despite some of her more childish mannerisms.) Navi is the one character who has been at link's side since the very beginning, the only consistent good influence on his life. the only adult mentor who hasn't somehow tried to fuck him over or manipulate him somehow. She is INTEGRAL to his survival through all the crazy bullshit he gets caught up in. the game makes her importance clear to the player in two ways: the first, obviously, is that she's the tutorial character--she tells you where to go, what to do, explains mechanics and puzzles, etc. The second, and the detail that's gonna be super important in our discussion of the final battle, is that she's tied to the game's targeting mechanic. It's subtle enough that I actually didn't notice it my first time around UNTIL this final battle, but every time you target an enemy to attack them (which with the way the camera movement is designed in this game is basically a required element of combat) navi flies to their weak spot and hovers there, which is the in-game explanation for what targeting is--navi is showing link the monsters' weak spots. in the first phase of the final battle with ganondorf, he erects a forcefield which prevents navi from entering the battlefield, removing the player's ability to target completely.
i absolutely LOVE this battle in terms of both gameplay and narrative. removing the targeting mechanic is a genuine handicap that makes the battle genuinely difficult for the player, and narratively it serves to remind you of the importance of navi, a positive adult influence, in link's life. without her, dealing damage is so much more difficult, but as soon as you have her back the battle becomes super intuitive and you're able to strategize much more effectively. Eventually, you deal enough damage to get navi back and flee the castle with the princess, before making one final stand against Ganon, a mutated beast-form of ganondorf. with navi by your side, his massive weakness becomes easily targetable, and you're able to defeat and seal him for good.
the end-credits scene of the game shows link time-traveling back to his nine-year-old self, before any of the events of the game have come to pass, and re-entering hyrule castle to warn nine-year-old zelda about what is to come. this is a time paradox, i know, but i LOVE this ending thematically. As I mentioned extensively earlier, link and zelda's stories are both representative of the way trauma robs you of childhood. they were both stripped of their chance to be children and grow up and come of age due to what happened with ganondorf. Allowing link to go back and prevent those events from ever occurring is a promise of healing. it's a promise that he and zelda will be able to reclaim the childhoods that were stolen from them by war and by adults who wanted to use them as pawns in it. it's a reclamation of the agency that these characters have been consistently denied throughout their stories. it's. a good ending. it's a really good ending. I like it a lot.
So uhhh wow that was a lot! what it comes down to is that i think oot is a story a ton of people can relate to. being a kid with responsibility but no agency and longing to be an adult, but then growing up and wanting nothing more than to return to the childhood you lost... that's something that really resonates with me, at least. and yeah oot has a lot of quirks and convoluted story and stuff but at its core it's a really beautiful coming-of-age that deals REALLY well with trauma and childhood and growing up!! tldr it's just. a genuinely incredible story and it means a LOT to me lol
#THIS IS SO LONG IM SO SORRY IM CRAZY LMAOOOO#zelda analysis#everyone please play ocarina of time. im going insane here

Hey Guys
Wow it's been quite some time. In regards to my last life post (that I don't remember making) but did happen and was very difficult to deal with all the fall out for like... more than a month after.
I'm sorry I left you all with that and then just disappeared again. Things have been weird the last couple months... to put it in simple words... shit sucks
The falling out with my daughter caused a huge rift between several people who (were not involved but still had a very loud opinion about things) and quite a few uncomfortable conversations.
I unfortunately started drinking as a way to deal with not dealing with things (I'm good now but I had about 3 weeks of just being smashed on the regular) and during that time I suffered an awful fall which resulted in me slipping a disc in my back. Possibly 2 of them but I've had such a hard time dealing with doctors lately that no one in the medical field has been particularly helpful. So I've been living off a cocktail of painkillers for almost 2 months now (which I hate), I was going to physio but then my insurance decided not to cover my sessions until I could PROVE I was actually hurt.
Tomorrow I go for an assessment with a new doctor to try and get my insurance to cover treatment again, my MRI isn't even until August of next f*cking year. -_-
Our healthcare system is an absolute joke right now.
On top of being in CONSTANT pain (not being able to sit or lie down for very long either cuz I lose feeling in my legs) my daughters disability/mental health program has decided to just... not help anymore until she gets a new assessment. Even though its been almost 3 years and she's still on a waiting list for an adult psychiatrist.
So the last week or so now everyone is coming back to me to try and fix/smooth things out again (after I was basically pushed out of her life because I was "making shit up" and "didn't actually care" and apparently was just being a control freak) and no one has apologized for the way they treated me or forced me out of helping my own kid. Nope. They just expect that now that she has no financial coverage that I should be the one to speak for her again cause they have no idea what to do. -_-
My husband has been solid thankfully, even though his relationship with Sassy has suffered so much because of the people around her who have influenced her... not always for the better. But I at least have maintained a sense of control in a way that's worked for me.
I told everyone who has given me grief for the past couple years about Sassy (including Sassy) that if I am going to advocate for her and get this stuff sorted out that I'm doing it my way, and if I get any push back or flack from anyone - then I'm done. They can figure it out themselves and I wash my hands of it all.
My husband thinks I shouldn't have gotten involved again at all, but I know (and I knew things were gonna blow up eventually) if I don't fix this... its gonna become my problem again anyways.
This past month or so I've had some really good breakthroughs with my therapist about my toxic coping skills, people pleasing and lack of boundaries with family members.
I feel better about things though than I ever have and now that I am standing firm with my boundaries and my convictions its been much easier for me to deal with any gaslighting or potential drama that people have tried to start up with me.
I know this got super long winded and I didn't intend for it to be as rambling and trauma dumpy as it was but - it is good to get things out and clear the air. As I feel like I sort of left an air of weirdness here for quite sometime.
Working on getting back to the things that I enjoy and stop becoming immersed in other peoples drama and things that I can't change.
I've missed you guys and crikey has Tumblr changed since I've been away. But I'm hopeful and I look forward to getting back into fandoms and gif sets and all those things I loved so much again <3
much love to you all

Want you to know that I've bought a boxset of all of M*A*S*H (including a film apparently??) because of you
aaaaaaa yes!!!!!!!
i have the same set! (i haven't seen the movie yet.) it's so lovingly put together. i think it predates the now-ubiquitous "play all" feature but that's actually awesome because they have adorable title slides for each episode. there are two english audio tracks as well as french/spanish and english 2 is the one without the laugh track.
i have had some problems with disc rot (i guess it's called??), so sometimes the very end of a disc/last episode won't play right, and now and then it gets stuck on the fbi warning and have to go make coffee or something for a few minutes while the player makes a terrible sound and sorts it out. when i looked at the reviews it seems like 2% of people had that issue so hopefully your set is fine -- but definitely a good reason to start watching right away to make sure ;) (and if you run into the problem and don't have hulu for emergency what-was-that-episode-ending? purposes, dm me and i'll see what i can offer!)
in star trek style, the first season takes a little while to settle down. people on here warned me about the racism and sexism and i was like yeah yeah whatever and then was like ohhhhh you mean like that. so it takes a little calibration to put your audience brain back in the 70s, and it gets more tolerable in that way for sure as it goes along. but it's sooooo great and i'm delighted you're joining the star trek & mash overlap fandom party!!
#chatter post#trippol-threat#mashblogging#honestly i like the set so much i'm thinking of re-buying it and hoping for a functioning version#and then figuring out how to rip and copy it with all the title slides and everything onto fresh discs or a digital repository...

Resident Evil 2 Nintendo 64 Version/GameCube Version Comparison:
N64 V: "Ahh, what a beautiful day in the year 1999.
NGC V: "Hello there!"
N64 V: "Huh? Wha-?! Oh, it's you, small disc. What? Are you trying to fry all my 64 bits with a classic RE jump scare?! Huh? What's a matter with you?!"
NGC V: "Oh, I didn't mean to scare you. Sorry about that."
N64 V: "Wait a minute. You're...me?! You're Resident Evil 2 as well, aren't you?!"
NGC V: "I mean...I'm you...but more, I guess?"
N64 V: "What do you mean by "more"? You think you're better than me?!"
NGC V: "...Also yes."
N64 V: "Why I never! The nerve of this generation! Tell me, what makes you so special? Huh? You think you're so rad with your extra room for data on your small disc? Let me guess, you finally made the deal with the devil himself, didn't you? I told you; we don't make deals with the enemy."
NGC V: "The devil? Oh, you mean Sony? Dude, I had no part in that. Okay? They offered to help you move away from cartridge, but your generation said no to that sort of help."
N64 V: "Wha-? What else could ruin this sublime day for me?"
NGC V: "Okay, I'm going to tell you this one last time...it's not 1999 anymore...or 2003...unfortunately."
N64 V: *Speechless*
Hello and welcome, my fellow retro gamers, Kawaii Fox Reviews here. I apologize if that bit was too cheesy for you. Also, nothing against Sony. I enjoy that company, as well. But, right now, I wanted to review/ compare Capcom's Resident Evil 2 on the N64 to the Gamecube.
Fun fact about this fox: I love Resident Evil. Always have for years and fell in love with just about all of them. Well, I actually just like 5 and 6. I even fell in love with the movies. Well, except the Final Chapter. I know, some people might find that to be taboo, but I can justify those movies in another review.
Right now, I want to share my thoughts on the miracle, that is Resident Evil 2 on the N64. If you are interested in expanding your collection of retro games for your N64, then Resident Evil 2 is an absolute must have. However, I am not going to sugar-coat it, the Gamecube version is the far superior one.
"But Kawaii Fox, why are we here, then? Should we just get the Gamecube version, or the ps1 version, or the-?"
Yes, to all of those. Sorry to cut myself off like that. I know, it wasn't very nice of me. But Resident Evil 2 as a whole should be enjoyed across all accessible platforms. For me, personally, my favorite version is the one on the NGC. Just the Gamecube controller alone is enough for me to favor this version over the other versions. To this day, that controller is my favorite. Ironically, the original N64 controller is my least favorite of all time. But never fear, I have replaced mine with the Gamepads on eBay for like $25. Such a better quality, highly recommended.
Anyway, the purpose of this review is because I find the N64 version is very fascinating. To be honest, I played the hell out the NGC version. Then, at one point, to my surprise, I had discovered that the N64 version does in fact exist. Even though, at this time, I didn't have an N64. But I was still curious as to what this version was like.
After watching a comparison video between the different versions, it came down to the N64 version. Cutscenes were cut up, textures were blurry/muddy, sound was not as clear as it should be. My least favorite part was the fact that there was a certain scene where Ada Wong was talking to another character, but she had Claire Redfield's voice. I love voice actors, Sally Cahill and Alyson Court, and I expect to hear those voices played for their respective roles.
I think the Rock put it best, "It's the biggest piece of dog shit."
However, after I got my N64, I came across this version again. I had found a video by a YouTuber by the name of Lotus Prince that dived into more of what this version had to offer, along with the other ports. Something about it, made me say, "I have an N64, now I want to experience that for myself." I got my copy from eBay and started playing it. Of course, I'm breezing through it, since I've beaten it so many times on the Gamecube.
I'm actually in the middle of Claire: Scenario B, as of this moment. Is everything downgraded as expected? Yes. And it is horrific. But, to my surprise again, it's still the same game I played and still love on the NGC. It also plays very well on the N64. As long as it performs well, I can be okay with any version of any game. Is it perfect? Hell no. But again, it's still the same game I already love.
If I had a subtitle for this review/ comparison, I would have asked the question, "How can something so bad, be so good?"
After getting into this bizarre version of Resi 2, I came across another video by a Youtuber by the name of Modern Vintage Gamer. In this video, he manages to break it down to a science of how they manage to cram this masterpiece of a game into a cartridge. That video alone is intriguing enough to not only look at Resi 2 on the N64 as a game, but as a great concept in general as to how it was made possible.
I will link both of those videos at the end. Please take a look at them.
Now, I am going to wrap this up with these finale thoughts:
This may sound a little harsh, but I believe Resi 2 had no business being on the N64. With its limited cartridge space, and the fact that it's literally the only Resi game on the console. The fact they have to include cliff notes for the first game in this game, says a lot. But, just in case you didn't know this, Resident Evil 0 was supposed to be on the N64. That project was scrapped. But man, I still would have played it. With all the classic Resi-like games we have today, it would be so amazing to bring that project back from the dead.
Despite all that, I do find this whole thing interesting. The fact that that Resi-2 manage to bounce from one Nintendo console to another Nintendo console is brilliant to me, and then from there we got RE3, RE: Code Veronica, RE: remake, RE: 0, and even RE: 4 all on the NGC. What I mean by all this, is that Resi 2 on N64 may have never been the best version or maybe even the most popular, but the fact that they stopped, and said, "Hey, let's do the same game again on Nintendo's next, more advanced, console," Or however that idea was pitched.
It's sad to say, but some companies I think just put games on consoles and call it good, when in actuality, its not. We don't get a remake or an update. It just dies on the console it lands on. But not Resident Evil 2. Resi 2 was risen from the grave...and again with the 2019 remake...and its here to stay. With that, I will admit, I am so grateful I gave this version an actual chance.
Also, quick note: If you plan to experience your Resi 2 game on your N64, please be sure to install an expansion pak. If you do not know what that is. Its the thing that is stored between your Power Button and your Reset Button. What it does is provide you with 8MB of RAM instead of 4MB. This should clean up your Resi game. Won't make it perfect, but the graphics will be less muddy. However, I have heard that it can mess up transferring between screens in the levels. Like old VCR screen tearing. I haven't experience that, myself, but I am warning you, it is possible.
Thank you so much for sticking it out till the end, guys! It really means a lot to me. As you can tell, I have passion for RE games and was really excited to do this. If I forgot something, I apologize. Special thanks to angel studios (The original name of the developers), Capcom, and Nintendo for making the impossible possible. And thank you Lotus Prince and Modern Vintage Gamer for the inspiration.
That's it for now. This is Kawaii Fox Reviews, signing off. I hope you enjoyed your stay. Until next time, stay foxy. ;)
And hey, it's up to us to take out Umbrella.
See ya!

some assorted gay chicken show thoughts:
(i put a cut bc this got so stupid long i'm so sorry lol)
i think Earth has a really tough task with this role but imo he is totally nailing the restrained longing of it all and the undercurrent of wistful regret for lost opportunities in everything he says and does. the way he's not necessarily unhappy with his lot in life but doesn't think there's any value in it or what he provides for his community. the way he's resigned himself to loneliness but still can't help but want something more in a part deep inside of him (the shot of him looking at the moon in ep 1... I Am Thinking). i think it's really easy to see how bold and open Wen is with his feelings and be swept up in that bc the way Jim expresses his attraction is a lot more subtle but I think Earth does an amazing job of conveying that longing through the tiny shifts in his microexpressions, the way he looks at Wen when he thinks no one is looking (it KILLS me his expression when he sees how gentle and kind Wen is to his cat), the way he orients himself around Wen without thinking - it seems like he always has to consciously pull himself away in scenes like when he's dropping Wen off at the main street or at the end of ep 2 when Wen almost kisses him and i like the way Earth carries himself in scenes like that, he makes it easy to buy into
i really like the more meandering conversations that establish characterization and relationship dynamics. one example that comes to mind is when Jim and Wen are talking about the DVD. Full disclosure I'm not familiar with the movie referenced but judging from the title and the cover and the way Jim described it as "classic" I'm guessing it's some sort of romance. But then, "i haven't watched it in a long time. The disc is probably damaged." and then, when Wen says he can stream it if he wants, he says "that's okay, i don't want to watch it anymore." i like the way this dialogue hints at his history with love and ideals. "I don't want to watch it anymore", implying that he did at some point in his life want to watch it. The disc is probably damaged, but he can't bring himself to check to be sure. it's better to leave it alone and in the past. but in the past it was something he wanted to watch, an ideal he wanted to believe in; what changed? (who hurt u uncle jim i just want 2 talk)
the contrast between day and night life in this show ugh ugh ugh. the intimacy and vibrancy of the night, but also how lonely it sometimes can be; how harsh and uninviting the reality of daytime can be, but also how chatty and bustling. it's getting late and i'm sure way smarter people have already said much smarter things about it but just know this is a theme that always gets me and it is getting me now so fuckin hard.
and again i'm sure much more intelligent things have already been said about the relationship between Jim and Li Ming but I am fr LOVING it so far, not least of all because it reminds me so viscerally of my own teenage relationship with my parental figures skdjfnskdjfnskdjf but also the conflict between them just feels so well drawn and realistic, the way Jim is just trying to do what's best for Li Ming but doesn't know how to show that, the way Li Ming lashes out when at the end of the day all he really wants is for Uncle Jim to understand his point of view. it's some good shit u know
i do think imagining this whole situation from Li Ming's perspective is incredibly funny. like imagine it's one in the morning and you are in your room just minding your own business when a completely wasted man you've never met before wanders into your room, doesn't say a single word to you, and then when your emotionally distant uncle ushers him out he doesn't say anything to explain either he's just like "k sorry bye" and yeets himself out of there to go have shockingly tender sex with a man whose name neither of you know. and then like a month later you come into work only to find said drunk man is now your COWORKER at your UNCLE'S RESTAURANT. Li Ming doesn't get paid enough to deal with this shit. Uncle Jim wants us to think he has his life together so bad but he's just as messy of a bitch as anyone else on this show bless his heart
i'm really into the progression of the last part of ep 2, the subtle shift of the power dynamic, the way Wen so casually paying off the couple flows into Jim watching him work and understanding that they come from vastly different worlds flows into Jim telling Wen he's not fit to be anyone's home. and yet he still wants this closeness, as much as he tries to deny it; he made the choice to buy the second beer at the convenience store, he made the choice to offer it to Wen, he made the choice to let Wen rest on his shoulder if only for a little while. unstoppable force (Jim's yearning for closeness borne from a very deep loneliness) v immovable object (his abysmally low esteem of himself and his life)
as well i'm a huge hoe for glass metaphors so you know when Jim let himself want closeness with Wen by buying the beer only to come back and see him behind the window (like yes there is jealousy in that scene of the man Wen was talking to but there's also a distinct sense of never actually being able to reach Wen in his world; the reality is he stands behind the glass) a bitch was completely weak for it. it's me i'm bitch
obviously i love everything about the conversation at the end of ep 2 (a bitch is weak for a person as a home!!!) but something that especially interests me about it is what it tells us about Wen's relationship with Alan and the way he feels when he comes back to their apartment. i'm gonna be honest at this point i'm very confused about what's up with that whole clusterfuck lol but the implication that the place he lives in doesn't make him feel any of the things he described that he wanted from a home... home where someone waits for me, home where all my tiredness is gone and i have peace of mind, home that's more than just a place to sleep... how much he yearns for it that he's willing to pursue it with a man he only recently met... it paints a picture of a very lonely person and it does make me feel for him (even if I think it's really bizarre how completely casual he's being about cheating on his presumably long term partner not just with himself but with his friend who clearly knows the both of them skdjfnsdbfskdjfnsdjkfsn)
what i like most about this show so far is how at the core of it everyone just wants someone to see them and understand them. this, the aching loneliness everyone feels but in such different ways, is the driving force behind so much of the conflict and the drama and the interactions between characters. tonally it's exactly my kind of shit, i'm really looking forward to seeing how it builds as the story continues
