I’m so exhausted haha
(why can’t getting paperwork done be easier)
Recently I’ve been a bit stressed… My mood would fluctuate between hyper anxious, depressed and average emotional state.
My new job completely flipped my life around and I haven’t even started my first day.
Along with that, this week, I’ve been in charge of the house and it’s chores since the person usually doing them is out for a few days. Even though we have one cat, there’s a secret second cat that I have to take care of too.
It’s suddenly alot of work just thrust on to me and it’s really making me tired haha.
Today I basically ran around town filling in my requirements for employment. It used to stress me a lot a few days ago but now that I’ve chipped away at it, it’s not so bad. The part that gets me though is that I have to leave the house and have nobody watching anything. I worry about the cats…
I got to say though getting government documents suck. Each department has some deranged method of registration and some of them require a few days waiting time. I’m given like a week to process this stuff, cut me some slack PLEASE.
My mom was nice enough to “help” but she basically just drove me around to where I need to go. Last week I was glad she offered to help because I was really at my breaking point. I’ve realized today though that she is giving the bare minimum to help which means I still have to do everything.
I asked how and where to get these documents and I would get a blank stare or just straight up wrong info. I even had to argue because she wouldn’t believe that I needed to go to a specific office. I need an adult that knows what to do but never got it hahaha.
To be fair, it’s my requirements and it’s my responsibility right but I thought I could rely on her as support to keep me afloat. The real lesson was that I can only rely on myself and anyone else is a liability… it’s an exaggeration but sometimes it feels that way.
When I got home, I had to take care of the cat and do more chores. It rained yesterday so the secret stray cat was gone then but today they showed up. They might have been mad at me bc I wasn’t able to feed them so I gave em a big bowl of food and water to make up for it.
I only hope the stray forgives me…
I still have a few days before the deadline and I’m just waiting on three things. One of them is a medical exam/ready for work certificate thing from the local office. I’ll be doing that next with my mom and hopefully it’ll go much smoother.
Busy busy so I don’t have time for myself. There’s a feee login for FFXIV too but I can’t even enjoy it with my friends. I wonder if I’ll even be able to play frequently when I start working.
I’m mostly fine for the most part but there’s a ringing at the back of my head where it feels like I’m being looked down upon. Sure I finally have work but it’s a bit too late especially compared to everyone else and also how it has nothing to do with my degree. I don’t even get paid that much.
When I try to talk to others about my days recently it feels like they want nothing to do with me anymore. It’s weird…
It’s 100% just my anxiety from the stress making me think things. It just sucks that I have to feel it in my bones.
I hope they forgive me too for thinking of them in this way…
Anyway, I’m almost done. I’m doing my best.

"Is that really all you got, Yukino" you taunted the girl as a smug look was plastered on your face. The celestial mage was panting heavily in front of you. She had come to you a couple of weeks ago to learn how to wield a sword since she felt useless in a battle when she didn't have her keys. You happily agreed to it, seeing it as an opportunity to train more.
She charged at you, holding the diamond sword you made earlier diagonally in front of her face, ready to strike but at the same ready to block any attack that comes her way, just like you taught her.
You swiftly moved away, spinning on your feet in the progress as you slowly formed diamond armour around your body. You wanted to practise closer combat without your sword, which is why you were so focused on your defence. You knew you wouldn't always be able to rely on your sword skills, so this was the perfect moment to practice.
Nobody doubted for a second the fact that you were an excellent swordswoman,it was the exact reason why Yukino came to you in the first place. But you could get overconfident, resulting in you slacking your moves and getting careless, and that's exactly what happened
Your back was still facing the celestial mage as you took your time, presuming she wouldn't be able to recover that quickly after you swept her feet from underneath her. But you were wrong, resulting in Yukino getting a direct hit on you. Unbeknownst to her, she hit you in your blind spot which was right in between shoulder blades. It was the spot where your armour was the weakest.
You fell forward, immediately forming a dome made out of diamond around you in an attempt to shield you from any following attempts.
Yukino gasped at your reaction, knowing you only made that move when you were hurt badly "(Y/N)! I am so sorry! I didn't mean to-"
You let the shield crumble down again, making you visible to your friend. Placing a knee on the ground and pushing yourself up, you winced at the burning sensation. "It's fine, I was careless. It's not your fault"
Your reassuring words didn't ease the worry that was swimming through Yukino's mind "I'll go get some stuff to clean it up"
"No, it's fine, I'll go get it myself in a bit." You stopped the girl from running away as you stood up straight in an attempt to show her you were fine "you are progressing really fast"
"It's all thanks to you. Are you sure you don't need me to check up on your wound?" She offered again.
"Yeah, I'll be okay. Maybe I'll try roping Sting into pampering me. That way he'd at least has done something useful today" you attempted to joke to make the younger mage feel better, and it was a success as a small chuckled left her lips. "Let's go back shall we"
Once back, the stinging sensation had still not died down. In fact, it only got worse.
"Sting" you whined as you leaned your head against your boyfriend's shoulder.
He chuckled at your childishness as he turned to look at you "yes, my love?"
"I got badly hurt during training with Yukino" you pouted "can you take a look at it?"
A chuckle left his lips once again "sure drama queen, where is it?"
"I'm not being a drama queen" you stepped away from him, the pout was still evident on your face but this time it was paired with your scrunched eyebrows.
"Of course you're not" sarcasm dripping from the words that just left his mouth.
"What do mean by that?" Your lips were now tightly pressed together, forming a straight line. You were now standing directly in front of him with your arms crossed in front of your chest.
"Remember that time you thought Rogue got kidnapped while he just overslept?" Sting explained, but you were quick to defend yourself "in my defence, Rogue had never once overslept."
"Fine, what about that time I twisted my ankle and thought I had broken it for sure" the crease between your eyebrows deepened as he kept listing situations "or that time you thought some guy was harassing Minerva while they were just out on a date?"
"I was just worried" you mumbled as you recalled more encounters where you were indeed overdramatic.
"All I'm saying is, you tend to enlarge things. That's why I'm pretty sure that it's only a scratch, after all, Yukino just learned how to handle a sword. There's no way she could've hit you, the best swordswoman of our guild, that hard. But if you want I could still look at the wittle wound" he cooed at you, unknowingly worsening your mood.
"No. It's fine. I'm probably just being overdramatic again" the coldness that was latched to your words, send shivers down the guild master's spine, but before he could even muster an apology, you had turned on your heels and left to go home.
That night when Sting came home, he apologized and told you he didn't mean to make you feel that way. However, his words felt shallow, leaving nothing but an empty promise to be better.
The following days, the burning sensation only got worse, but you kept telling yourself that it was nothing. It was probably only a scratch just like Sting said.
Ignoring the pain, you kept going on about your days like normal. You kept making mental notes to not get swallowed by the worry for your guildmates and blow everything out of proportion. You absolutely did not want to be known as the girl who cried wolf.
Nobody seemed to notice, at least, so you thought. The boy in the shadows that liked observing more than talking to people noticed every small change from the moment Sting called you overdramatic.
It's why he wasn't surprised when Sting called him one morning, panic coated every word he spoke "Rogue! (Y/N) isn't waking up! I don't know what happened! Shit! Rogue! Help! What do I do?"
"Get her to the hospital as soon as possible, I'll meet you there" he replied in a much calmer voice. He knew he'd make matters only worse if he'd let his own worry shine through.
Sting had successfully brought you to the hospital in under ten minutes, Rogue shortly arrived after you two.
"I don't know what happened... She seemed fine yesterday…" Sting trailed off as the twin dragon slayers were seated next to your hospital bed.
"Did she really though?" Rogue sighed which earned him a questioning look from the blonde " (Y/N) hasn't been herself for almost a week"
"What do you mean? She seems perfectly normal to me?" Sting's gaze averted from his friend to you as he tried to recall any odd behaviour, but nothing came to mind.
A heavy sigh left the raven-haired mage again "ever since you called her overdramatic, she's been acting more distant, being less expressive. I think you hit a nerve when you said those words"
Sting was quick to defend himself "it can't be that. I apologized that night, and she told me it was nothing, that she didn't care"
"Whatever you say" he mumbled as he noticed your hand twitching.
Sting quickly grasped that same hand and waited patiently for you to open yours, while anticipation filled his. "I'll go get a doctor"
Rogue re-entered with a doctor sooner after, once you were fully awake " Ah, miss (L/N) good to see you awake"
You nodded your head awkwardly before she continued "you had a nasty looking cut between your shoulder blades, were you aware of that?"
"Yes," you mumbled as you fiddled with your finger, afraid to make eye contact with anyone.
The doctor sighed as she put the clipboard down "there was an infection spreading from that wound due to pieces of diamond stuck in it. Had you waited any longer, you would have died. Why didn't you come sooner"
You felt incredibly small as all eyes were looking at you, waiting for you to respond "I didn't think it was that bad. I didn't want to seem overdramatic"
As soon as the last word rolled off your tongue, Sting's eyes grew wide in realization. Rogue was right. "We'll give you a moment"
"(Y/N)" you refused to meet his eyes, even when he grabbed your hand to stop you from fiddling, so he tried again but with a more stern tone this time "(Y/N) look at me"
You did as he requested and wished you could sink into the darkness as Rogue could right there and then. The hurt and disappointment that were swimming in his eyes made your gut wrench as you never intended to upset him "why didn't you say anything?"
"You said that I was being a drama queen and that there was probably nothing to be worried about, so I assumed that it was just that, me being my overdramatic self" you explained, your eyes averting again to your fingers that were now intertwined with Sting.
"I thought I told you I didn't mean that" he frowned at the fact that you didn't even dare to look at him.
"But you were right!" You explained fed up as frustration tears started to form in the corner of your eyes "I am overdramatic. I blow everything out of proportion. I am just a burden that brings unnecessary stress into everyone's lives"
"Okay stop that. First of all, you are not a burden, nobody thinks that so stop it. Second of all, I am really really sorry that I made you doubt yourself. You're not overdramatic, well maybe a little, but it's not a bad thing. It shows how much you care about all of us. I'd rather have you blow things out of proportion than minimalize it and have bad things happen like this" he explained.
"You really think so?" You ask, your watery eyes finally meeting his.
"I know so. I am so sorry for making you feel so insecure about yourself. That was never my intention, please forgive me" he pleaded.
"I forgive you, I'm sorry for not saying anything sooner about the wound" you reply as you kissed his hand.
"It's alright. Now get some rest, my love. I'll be here when you wake up"

my sweet love
Professor!reader x uni student!bucky
Run-through: You run into an ex-student of yours at a cozy pub. You immediately recognize him given he used to be the troublemaker of the batch. You two start a casual conversation, which ends with a certain confession; which then causes the night to take an interesting turn…
Themes: smut, fluff
Tumblr media
You lifted your head up to look at who had just tapped you gently on the shoulder. You soon found yourself staring into a pair of blue eyes. Eyes which seemed so familiar.
“Oh my god! Bucky?” your jaw dropped a little, in surprise. Bucky smiled back at you, casually leaning in for a hug like you were an old friend, instead of his ex-professor.
“The one and only.” He beamed as he pulled away.
Bucky was one of those students whom you could never forget; he was always the loud one, the joker, the pretty boy all the girls secretly had a crush on and he pretended not to know. He was smart, but a bit of a pain sometimes - especially since he spent half his time flirting with you.
“Wow,” he eyed you up and down. “You didn’t change one bit. You’re still the gorgeous woman who stole my heart, I see.”
His words earned an eye roll out of you. “This again? Seriously?” you chuckled as you remembered all those times he complimented you without any hesitation. He even got you flowers for Valentine’s Day each year.
He fake gasped, pretending to be hurt. “You hurt me, woman. What do you mean ‘again’? I never stopped loving you.” he spoke, dramatically as he took a seat on the stool beside you at the counter.
You rolled your eyes at him and you couldn’t help but take in his appearance. Lose tie, dark blue button down shirt, slacks; it gave away that he was here after work. “You finally joined your father’s company, I see.” you noted as you remembered how much he used to complain about never wanting to work with his father ever in his life.
He smiled, remembering the same thing, “Yeah. Dad wanted to retire, so I volunteered to take over. You know, like a good son. Like a responsible, mature adult.” He gave you that same smile he used to give you back in uni whenever he said some stupid stuff just to get a reaction out of you.
You rolled your eyes and sighed. “You still haven’t changed.” You smiled back at him.
“You didn’t either.” He gave you a look which you couldn’t quite understand. But you would admit that he didn’t seem like he was the same man-child he used to be back in uni. “Let me buy you a drink.” He spoke again. You began refusing but then he stopped you with puppy eyes. “Oh come on, I met you after almost three years. I insist.”
“Okay. Just one drink.”
-
Three wines later, the two of you were still in deep conversations, laughing uncontrollably at all the funny anecdotes you shared of your time as his professor back in university.
He set his glass down after his final sip and turned to face you. The lights were dimmer than earlier, or maybe that was just the after effect of the wine. But the blue in his eyes stood out even more now. Or maybe that was because he had inched closer to you over the past hour.
“Do you remember that day when I gave you a ride home?” he asked.
You widened your eyes and chuckled, “Yeah and it was raining like hell, right? Some idiot slashed my tires, and I never found out who did it.”
Bucky chuckled quietly before biting his lip. “That idiot was me.” He waited for a reaction out of you, his heart racing. He calmed down only after you cracked a smile, which then turned into a laugh.
You shook your head at him, this was years ago and you weren’t mad anymore. “Why did you do that?” you were genuinely curious.
He sheepishly answered, “I just wanted to spend some time with you, go on a drive and you know…” he finished, embarrassed now that he was saying it out loud.
You pieced it all together. “So that bit where you got lost driving around in circles and blamed it on the rain and fog, that was all pretend?” you asked, he covered his face with both hands and nodded. You laughed again and it was the most adorable thing he had ever heard. “Why? Do you know how much trouble you caused me?” you shook your head, still surprised at his confession, yet something about it was adorable.
He removed his hands from his face and lifted an eyebrow, giving you his famous smirk, “I can make up for it, if you let me.” His tone changed, his voice suddenly sounding deeper.
“Bucky.” You said it like a playful warning. You knew what he meant.
He inched closer and casually twirled a lock of your hair around his finger. “What, I’ll be so good to you.” He looked up into your eyes, letting his eyes linger at your lips first, then giving you that puppy dog look.
“Stop it. Your puppy dog eyes don’t work on me anymore.” You smirked. You didn’t know exactly where this was heading, but for now, you were going with the flow.
He smirked back at you. “Does that imply that it worked in the past?”
“Bucky.” You used the same reprimanding tone as before.
He chuckled. “God, I still fucking love it when you use that tone on me.”
His words made you giggle. You took another look at him and smiled. He was adorable. You stopped yourself before eyeing him any longer. “It’s late, I should go.”
He grabbed your hand gently, holding it in his much larger, warm one. “I fell in love with you in my second year.” He said it, finally.
You chuckled. “Okay, that’s it.” You pulled your hand from his and stepped down from the stool and faced him with a genuine smile. “It was nice seeing you again. Make sure you get home safe, alright?” the professor in you added the last part, caring for anyone younger than you became a personality trait at this point.
You turned around to leave, and he followed you with a loud, dramatic groan. “Don’t walk away, I just proclaimed my love for you and you’re leaving me stranded and alone here? Come on,” he complained after you as you stepped out of the pub. You had a silly smile on your face the whole time, laughing at his silliness.
He caught up with you right outside the entrance of the pub, pulling you aside on the sidewalk. “Listen to me,” he grabbed you gently by the waist, pulling you closer. You would be lying if you said that this proximity did not give you any butterflies at all in your stomach. “I don’t know how to say this, but I feel things for you, I-,”
You cut him off, chuckling. “Bucky, what you feel is called an academic crush. We all went through it at some point, even I did. You need to calm down-,”
He cut you off again, leaning closer, smirking at first but then getting all defensive. “My poor little heart. How dare you just crush it like that, ma’am?” and he made you laugh again, you were beginning to feel just a little buzz from the wine.
You shook your head. “Go home Bucky.” you got out of his embrace and walked away, keeping an eye out for a cab. You found one rather quickly, and once you got inside the other door opened as well and it didn’t come off as a surprise when Bucky settled right beside you.
You rolled your eyes at him. “Now what, you’re gonna follow me home?”
He shrugged, “I found you after three years, I’m not letting you go. I don’t care if you make me sleep on your porch, I will-,”
You shut him up abruptly by placing a finger right on his lips. “Shh.” you giggled, the wine definitely giving you more than just a little buzz. “You are such a baby.” Bucky watched you in awe. He didn’t know where this was going either, but he liked it so far.
He didn’t lie when he said he fell for you in his second year. He remembers the day like it was yesterday. He was stressed out, late at night in the library on the eve of an exam. And he remembers how you walked in and found him struggling so you helped him out. He remembers how patient you were that night, and that was also the first time he behaved and actually paid attention to what you were saying. And he aced the exam. He realized that night that no one was ever going to be this kind and gentle, and attentive towards him. No one but you. And just like that, his heart fell for you.
While in the cab, he tried to hold your hand but you giggled and pushed him away each time. “Why do you hate me?” he asked, faking a frown.
“I don’t hate you.”
“Why don’t you love me back then? I’m good-looking, I’m funny, I’ve got a nice job and everything-,”
You cut him off, “Because I used to be your professor a couple of years back Bucky.” You laughed quietly at how he groaned loudly when you said that, throwing his head back against the seat and everything.
“This again, oh my God!” he groaned. “You used to be my professor. Past tense. Not anymore, and I really, really l-,”
You cut him off by telling the driver that you had reached your destination. Bucky sighed but still followed you out of the cab and into your home. “Woah,” he looked around. It was a lovely home which you were grateful enough to be able to afford so you just smiled back at him.
“Now what?” you asked, unintentionally smirking.
“What’s the hurry, ma’am?” he approached you and you rolled your eyes.
“Bucky…” you warned him again, playfully.
“Okay, I deserve at least one chance to prove myself.” he raised his eyebrows at you, trying to look like he was making sense.
You sighed. “You don’t have to prove anything. You’re a brilliant young man, and you-” he cut you off by leaning in and capturing your lips in a kiss.
Your mouth moved against his wonderfully, you felt him smile through the kiss as he pulled you closer. He placed his hands on either side of you, his torso pressing into you, you smiled through the kiss again. Your hands found their way into his hair and you lazily ran your fingers through his soft hair.
“I’ve been wanting to kiss you since the day I first saw you, you know that?” he whispered softly along your skin as he kissed, and bit down your neck and the side of your throat. You giggled in his arms, pushing him away playfully. But he came right back and held you even tighter. “Don’t push me away, not now.” he whispered in your ear and you found yourself shivering at the tone he used.
You felt something shift in the air; it was a pleasant shift. You could no longer ignore the sparks which flew in between the two of you. You pulled away just a little to look into his eyes and that was it - you stopped thinking and analyzing; you just did what felt right.
You found yourself leaning in again, and his lips met you halfway. You smiled into the kiss and tugged on his hair, gently but firmly as his tongue slipped into your mouth once again, slowly stroking the top of your mouth. Your lips moved perfectly together, Bucky nibbled on your lip and kissed your open mouth hungrily. His hand slipped under your top and he caressed your skin with his slightly cold hands; tracing imaginary shapes right under your boobs – most definitely leaving behind goose bumps where his fingers touched you so gently.
You let out a little moan, and you felt him smirk right after. He pulled away to look at you, a lovesick look on his face and lust in his eyes. Your lips parted as you gasped for air; breathless after his kiss.
“Bedroom?” you asked, and he chuckled, leaning in to kiss the side of your mouth. His soft lips pressed against your skin and your eyes fluttered shut.
“Nope,” he kissed along your jaw till he reached your ear where he whispered, “Your study.”
You let out a giggle. “What?”
He pulled away to look at you. “I’ve been fantasizing about fucking you on your desk.” His bluntness made you giggle. “Please let me.” he whispered in your ear again, making you shiver in anticipation and need.
Fuck…
Needless to say, once you gave him your approval; he rushed you upstairs. The two of you unable to keep your hands off each the whole time; stopping every two to three steps to pin the other to the wall and kissing each other like your life depended on it.
Once you made it to the study room, Bucky’s hands and lips were on you again, not letting go for even a second this time. He kissed you with ardor, a moan escaping your lips and you whimpered with need as his hand reached your lower back and stopped right on your ass, giving it a little squeeze. He smirked at your reaction and did it again while walking the two of you backwards until he sat you down on the edge of your desk.
He pulled away to look at you, “You okay?” he asked as he unbuttoned his shirt. Oh you were more than okay. You nodded at him, biting your lip and reached out and helped him unbutton his shirt faster. Bucky chuckled at your lack of patience and leaned in to kiss you again. Your hands found their way over to his toned chest, you traced his muscles with your finger tips and he grabbed you by the waist and pulled you closer. “I want you. Now.”
He leaned in for another kiss, this time slowly lifting your top up until he finally took it off and tossed it aside carelessly, leaving you in just your skirt. He inched closer, your bare skin touching and making you want to moan again. His lips slowly moved along your jaw and down to the side of your throat, leaving dark red marks behind on your skin.
You whined as he reached out and slipped his hand under your skirt, he ran his knuckles along your wet folds through your underwear, making you shudder at his mere touch. He smirked against your lips, “You’re dripping.” He commented, slowly sliding your underwear down. You moaned as you felt his fingertips gently trail down your legs, he eventually got down on his knees, spreading your thighs further apart.
He placed a kiss on your inner thigh and you gasped. He reached out with his two fingers and gently circled your clit, gathering your wetness from your folds and smearing it around. “Did I do that?” he asked, smirking. You threw your head back and moaned as he lazily toyed with your folds, knowing exactly where to touch you to get you going. “Answer me,” he whispered against your skin as he kissed up and down your thigh.
You looked down, bit your lip and let out a pathetic yes. He smirked and placed his hands on your thighs and spread your legs further apart and attached his lips to your core without a second thought; the lower half of his face completely submerged into your dripping core. You moaned out loud as you felt his warm mouth on top of your dripping core. His tongue slipped past your folds and teased your entrance; occasionally flicking your clit mercilessly.
Your hands immediately gripped his hair and tugged gently at his roots. Wet sounds erupted from where his mouth latched on to your core, and the sight was just as sinful. His tongue slowly circled your throbbing clit, parting your wet folds with ease. You were sure your arousal must have leaked onto the table by now. “So sweet…” he whispered and got back to assault your sensitive spot with his warm and wet tongue, relishing your taste.
Your taste drove him wild, so did your soft whimpers. He moaned as he ate you out. You whimpered under his touch, feeling his stubble rubbing against your soft skin; it burned a little, but you enjoyed each and every second of it and craved for more. His deep blue eyes watched you in awe and how you lost control under his touch; legs shaking as he teased your entrance with the tip of his tongue.
Your arousal drenched the lower half of his face as he ate you out relentlessly until you were nothing but a moaning, hot mess, squirming above him. He had been dreaming about this very moment since the day he first saw you. Part of him thought that he would never end up with you one day, but now that he had you, finally all to himself, he wasn’t planning on letting you go just yet.
“Fuck…” you moaned out loud; your eyes closing and your head tilting back as you felt a wave of intense pleasure wash over you. Your hand flew to his hair and you tugged on it gently as he flicked his tongue over your clit over and over again.
His intense blue eyes watched you in awe and how you lost control under his touch; legs shaking as he teased your entrance with the tip of his tongue. His hands wrapped around your thighs, securing you in his grip as he pushed his face further into you, making you cry out loud.
You came violently all over Bucky’s tongue, body shuddering and shaking while you moaned his name out loud. It gave him an unfamiliar, but pleasant rush when he heard your strained voice moan out his name. Oh he had dreamt of this so many times, but none of his dreams felt this good. He kissed your inner thighs and licked you clean before standing back up.
He smiled at you before gently pushing you back down on the table. Bucky leaned down and his mouth latched on to one of your nipples. He sucked on it gently as his teeth teased the bud and your back arched off the table in pleasure; whining. Your hands found their way into his hair and you tugged on his hair softly, making him groan. He kissed his way up to your neck once again as he aligned his cock to your core. You could feel his tip, leaking with precum, slightly pressing against your clit.
Slowly, he slipped inside of you, groaning at how tight you were. You felt his length stretching you out entirely. He panted as he started rocking in and out of you slowly. You moaned out loud, feeling all of him; stretching you, filling you up, moving rapidly in and out of you to the point where the only thing you could focus on was his body.
He hovered above you for a moment, looking down at you softly; watching you moan and squirm as you struggled to take his cock. “Does that feel good?” he stared deep into your eyes, his own filled with lust. “Yeah, you like my big cock inside your tight little cunt, don’t you?” he whispered against your lips, leaning in to just press his lips against yours.
He moaned out loud as he pulled out completely and pushed back into you, you gasped at how he filled you up and stretched you out. He kissed along your jaw. “I’ve been dreaming about this for so long, you have no idea.” He murmured into your ear. “Now I’m not gonna let you go until you cry from coming too hard around my cock, you hear me?”
You weren’t sure if you responded to that but regardless, he fucked you like an animal. “Fuck… you feel so good…” he whispered, pounding into you relentlessly, as he bent down to kiss your open mouth, swallowing all your moans and mewls in the process. You whined upon hearing the wet, slapping sounds your bodies made when they came in contact with one another. Mixed with his scent and the growls leaving his mouth, it was all too sinful.
“Look at me.” He stared down at you, his ocean blue eyes seemed even prettier in the dimmed room. You could only nod, unable to form coherent sentences while he pounded into you like he owned you. He leaned in again, kissing you softly. “Tell me who’s fucking you this good, huh?” he whispered against your lips.
You tried answering but it ended with a loud moan as his cock reached all the right places. He smirked and sped up into you again, relishing the feeling of you wrapped around him like you were made for it. Hearing you moan and squirm under him only encouraged him to thrust deeper into you, he wanted to feel all of you and he wanted you to feel all of him.
He was relentless.
He growled right in your ear as his body moved perfectly against yours. You whined; feeling a thin layer of sweat covering both your bodies as your walls milked him perfectly. A tear escaping your eye, out of pleasure. He was quick to wipe it away. He bent down and kissed your lips, pounding into you rapidly like his life depended on it.
Bucky felt you clench and tighten around him, “Come on, beautiful. Cum for me.” He whispered, his voice strained and raspy. Your mind was foggy by now, and it took your brain a few seconds to register and process his words. Not even a few moments later, you felt him twitch inside of you; his cock throbbing against your walls. He came with a growl, gripping your hips. You whined as you came around him as well. Swear words flowing out of your mouth like a chant as you felt his cum dripping out of you as he slowly slipped out of you. His body went limp and he fell in your arms. You felt his smirk against your neck as he kissed his way up to your lips again.
“So did I do good, ma’am?”

everytime // Sirius Black
Sweetener x Marauders
play ‘everytime’ by Ariana Grande <3
Tumblr media
pairing: sirius black x reader
word count: 2.3k ✨
warnings: angst, fluff at the end, mentions of drinking, under-age drinking, partying, depression?, mentions of drugs and drug use, someone trying to take advantage on the drunk reader, crying? Let me know if I missed something.
This also might have a few time jumps
A/N: I wrote this in 1st person but I feel like I should make these in 3rd so that’s what I’ll start doing. But this is also my first time making a one-shot fic so cut me some slack if it’s trash. But I hope you enjoy!
I get tired of your no-shows
Taking in the warmth through my fingers I look at the door once more before glancing at the clock.
He’s late. Again
I take a deep breath to cool down my nerves and sigh. I sip the rest of my butterbeer before looking at the entrance once more and packing my stuff and walking out. I look around once more before giving up and walking back to the castle.
You get tired of my control
As I’m walking back I start to get more irritated by the step. This isn’t the first time he’s done this. Always too busy to hang out because of him with his friends or too busy because of pranks. The missed dates and the interrupted times. All for his friends. I’m clearly not a priority in his life and that has to change or I’m not going to be in it.
Walking through the castle I collect my thoughts on how I’m gonna approach this situation. But since I’m so pissed off, I’m gonna take an angry approach.
I walk up to the gryffindor common room and say the password before walking in.
As I stepped into the common room, lo and behold, the marauders spread on the couches talking loudly and laughing. Seeing that made my blood boil. As I walk over I catch the attention of the brunet,
“Y/N!!!!! Hey!!!” The Potter boy called out. I gave a weak smile. Which caught the attention of my boyfriend.
“Hey, babe.” He smiled at me. I internally roll my eyes and keep an emotionless face on. At this point all the attention from the boys is on me.
“Hey. Can we talk?” In the corner of my eye I can see Remus and James glance at each other and look worriedly at Sirius. Yeah. They know better.
“Uhh. Sure. About what?” This time I rolled my eyes. I ignore his question and grab his hand before dragging him up to his dorm.
We enter and I close the door before leaning on it. He goes and sits on the foot on his bed.
“What do you want to talk about? We were in the middle of planning.” Bouncing his knee, I can tell he’s getting impatient and just wants this to hurry up and be done with this. I get even more annoyed at this.
“What do you want to talk about? We were in the middle of planning.”- I mocked him- “This is exactly what I’m talking about! You’re always busy! Doing this and doing that!” I start to raise my voice. My face starts to heat up due to my anger. I try to calm down but it doesn’t seem to be working.
He opens his mouth to say something but I cut him off,
“Where were you today?! I was waiting for you! For our date that YOU literally planned!” His eyes widened with realization and looked at me with a guilty face. But I’m too pissed off to care.
My eyes start to water with tears of frustration but I’m nowhere near done,
“Everytime I want to hang out you’re always busy with your friends and pranks! You never have time for me anymore!” At this point tears are streaming down my face and Sirius doesn’t look that far behind.
“This is the third date you missed! Because you forgot! I’m done with being second best. Im probably not even that!” He has his head down, hands on his knees.
“I—I-I” he stutters out what I think is going to be some wack apology. But I’m done. I can’t do it anymore.
“No. I’m done.” As soon as I said those words his head shot up fast and looked at me with wide eyes.
“No-” he goes to protest but I cut him off again.
“No I can’t do this. Not anymore. This has gone on for too long. You need to fix your priorities. I hope you don’t treat another girl like this. I’m breaking up with you, Sirius.” I don’t wait for a reply and I simply walk out of the door and walk back down to the common room, wiping my tears.
They keep telling me to let go
As I make it to the common room I notice the boys are still there. They see me and go to talk but a loud sound cuts them off. Items getting thrown around, is what I guessed it to be.
We all freeze and guilt washes over me. It’s Sirius.
But I don’t really let go when I say so
I turn my head to the staircase with a sad expression before brushing it off.
I had to. I deserve better. I thought to myself.
I look over to the boys to see that they have worried but knowing expressions on their faces. I gave them weak smiles and walked away to my dorm.
I keep giving people blank stares
Drama travels fast around here at Hogwarts. So it wasn’t long until word got out that infamous Sirius Black was single again and back on the market.
My friends are starting to get worried about me because of my reaction to the breakup, or lack thereof. I know how to keep my emotions buried. I know it’s an unhealthy coping mechanism but I refuse to be sad over a boy who treated me like shit.
I’m so different when your not there
What they don’t know is that I cry myself to sleep. Everyday. I close my curtains around my bed and put a silencing spell around it and sob. For hours. It’s pretty sad.
But I keep my neutral face on for everyone else. From what I know Sirius isn’t doing much better. He’s just more open about his broken heart. Lily tells me he mopes around and doesn’t speak much anymore. Let alone prank anyone.
Everytime she tells me about him being sad it makes me want to run out the room and find him to cuddle with him and kiss him and apologize profusely for the break up.
But I remind myself that it’s not my fault and that I deserve better.
It’s like something out of Shakespeare
Because I’m really not here when you’re not there
I tried to fight our energy
It's been three months since the break up and I have developed some pretty bad habits.
I’ve secretly been drinking to numb the pain. I know it’s not healthy but I can’t seem to stop.
Once all my roommates are sleeping I drink by myself on my bed. It helped in the beginning but now I can’t stop.
I’ve perfected my fake smile so no one could tell the difference. Well one person did, but I was unaware.
I’m in a deep depression and I have no one to talk to. None of my friends know, I can’t tell them. They won’t understand.
Meanwhile,
“Pads, you can’t keep moping around. She’s moved on, you should too.”
“No, I can’t. I still love her.” Sirius said but due to him being face first on his pillow it came out muffled.
“Well then you’re going to have to work your way to get her back. Show her you’ve changed.” The werewolf suggested to his friend.
“Really?” He picks his head up to face his friends, red and puffy eyes with a hopeful expression.
They nod.
But everytime I think I’m free
As the weeks pass I start to receive notes and letters with little flowers attached to them. I know they are from Sirius but I can’t seem to open them and read. It’s too hard and I’m not ready yet.
You get high and call on the regular
Once I reach my empty dorm I run to my trunk and collect all the saved letters. I place them on my bed and chuck my shoes off before climbing on my bed while getting comfortable.
I sort the letter from how I received them. I slowly open the first one,
Dear y/n,
Looking at us now I regret a lot of things.
I don’t blame you for not seeing us together in the future.
I was horrible, but for you I am willing to change. No. I will change.
You deserve so much better and if you let me I could be that person.
But I have to fix myself in order for that to happen.
If you're willing I would love to have another chance.
forever yours,
Sirius
As I finish reading my eyes are cloudy with tears. I continue to read all of the letters.
And by the end of it I’m sobbing.
I get weak and fall like a teenager
I knew it was a bad idea to read those letters. Because after that I am ready to run back into his arms and express my love. But I can’t until I know that he’s changed.
I deserve better. I keep telling myself that.
Why, oh why does God keep bringing me back to you?
Everytime I see him now I try to avoid him. Everytime he’s in a room, I leave. Everytime class is over I run out before he gets the chance to talk to me.
Because I know if I take one look into his beautiful stormy gray eyes I will fall all over again. And that can’t happen.
I deserve better.
I get drunk, pretend that I’m over it
It’s Friday night and today is the big Gryffindor party. Being stressed with liquor and drugs is not a good combo but I haven’t been safe these past couple of months.
I’m in my dorm room getting ready. I decide on a natural glam look with a bold red lip and a black satin body con dress with some black heels.
As I’m walking down the stairs, I can hear the music blasting and the red led lights are turned on. I part from my friends and immediately head to the liquor table. As I’m walking I fail to notice the pair of eyes following my every move.
I take a plastic red cup and I fill it up with the hardest liquor I could find on the table. After downing the cup I refill it and make my way over to my friends who are currently in the corner smoking what the muggles call ‘weed’. It’s strong but it helps me relax. Who knew muggle were so helpful.
Self-destruct, show up like an idiot
About an hour into the party everyone was either high, drunk or both. Which I was. Again me with my unhealthy coping mechanisms.
I ended up dancing in the middle of the room with a huge group of people. I feel eyes on me but I’m too drunk to care at the moment.
As I’m dancing I feel someone come up behind me and grab my hips. I turn around to see a random 7th year boy. He begins to trail his hands on my body.
He leans down to whisper in my ear,
“How about we go to my down, sweetheart?” His hot breath makes a shiver run down my spine, and not in a good way.
I began to shake my head while saying no but he clearly didn’t get the message because he gripped my wrists and tried to pull me with him. But because I was too drunk I couldn’t defend myself properly.
As I continue to struggle I see a person step in front of me, glaring at the boy,
“I suggest you let her go. Now.” I heard a familiar voice, I couldn’t tell who from my drunken state. Once the person turned around a smile involuntarily appeared on my face,
“Siri! Hi!” I giggled as he guided me away from everyone.
“Hi. Let’s get you somewhere safe.” He picks me up bridal style and starts to carry me up to the boys dorms and to his room.
I yawned and cuddled up into his chest,
“I’m still mad at you.” I mumbled. He set me down on his bed and goes to his trunk to take out some clothes,
“I know.” He said, sadly. As he’s helping me I go on a mini rant,
“You know you treated me horrible. I just wanted my boyfriend but you never made time for me. You missed dates, you cancelled on me a lot. And whenever we had time together alone you had to leave early. I just wanted you to give me your love and attention. But I was never a priority. I miss you so much, Siri.” After he tucks me into his bed he kisses my forehead and responds,
“I miss you too, baby.” He goes to walk away but I grab his hand. Which makes him turn around and give me a questioning look,
“Please stay.” I pout. He smiles and climbs into the bed with me. I turn to look at him,
“Cuddles?” I ask him with puppy eyes.
“Cuddles.” I snuggle up next to him with my head on his chest and my legs bunched up with his. He puts his chin on top of my head and begins to play with my hair.
“You know, I still love you. And I’m willing to give you a second chance, Siri.” I can’t see him but I can tell he has a huge grin on his face.
“I love you too, pup. Go to sleep. We’ll talk in the morning.” I start to drift off but before I do fully I feel him kiss my forehead again and whisper ‘I love you’ one last time before the darkness engulfed me.
Why, oh why does God keep bringing me back to you?

sketch | levi ackerman x reader
Tumblr media
WARNING: none. just fluff and a tiny bit of angst.
prompt: after finding out you did sketches as a hobby, levi decided to challenge you and asked you to sketch someone you hadn't met before.
NOTE: this is based on the eren fan art that i saw but i forgot whoever it was that posted it and i thought of doing one for levi.
Tumblr media
The Survey Corps were aware that your father was an artist. One that could sketch someone and something with perfect accuracy and sometimes even sketching someone and something that he hadn't seen before and based it upon someone's description of them. Your dad had somehow passed this knowledge to you before he died on the fall of Shiganshina and ever since then, you had secretly taken up sketching as a hobby— one that you would do whenever you were down, stressed, or just wanting peace.
However, you weren't exactly slick enough as you sat yourself down against a tree because soon or later, Sasha had seen you and your drawing and begged you to draw her a picture of a freshly cooked steak. Connie somehow heard the commotion and asked if you could draw something you hadn't seen before to which you said yes and kindly asked you to draw a picture of his hometown.
Eren, Mikasa, Armin, and Jean soon followed and all were amazed by your accurate sketching skills and how fast you would make them.
The commotion would soon draw the attention of one Captain Levi who looked at the group annoyingly mainly because they still weren't done with their chores. He hated seeing people slacking and wasting their time.
He would step out of the cottage and began walking towards the group.
"Oi, you brats!" His strict voice would immediately shut up the group, making them stand straight and look back at the Captain.
"What the hell are you all doing out here? You're not even finished with your chores, the cottage still looks and smells like shit."
"We're sorry, Captain, we just got distracted." Eren would say and gulped, fearing what Levi would do as a punishment for slacking off.
"Yeah, Captain, but look! Y/N here is so talented? Remember when she once told us that her dad was a sketch artist? She could do it too and look what she drew for us!" Sasha beamed and showed the drawing you had made for them causing you to smile sheepishly and looked up at Levi.
You were currently injured after you had twisted your ankle when you fell off a horse so Levi decided to be kind enough to let you off the hook and heal while the others did your portion of the chore.
Levi looked down, the infamous stoic expression plastered on his face as he looked at the rather intricate and impressive details of your sketches.
"Look, Captain! She even drew my hometown and she hasn't been there before. She just drew it based on my description but she got it all right!" Connie would add and showed him your sketch of Ragako. Connie's words somehow got his attention and Levi looked down to look closely at the drawing before pulling away.
"Tch! You slacked off of chores for some sketches? Thought you brats did better than that by now. Go back inside and clean!" Levi barked causing the group to put their fists on their chest by their hearts and saluted Levi before running back inside the cottage.
"I'm sorry about that, Captain. I didn't mean for them to slack off." You'd eventually say and stood up carefully from the ground after gathering your sketchbook and pencil with your crutch, "I was about to send them back but they were far too excited with my drawings."
Levi was silent for a while. His back was turned to you as he watched, from afar, his squad going back inside the cottage to continue busying themselves.
"Springer said that you could draw things that you haven't seen before?" He would ask and you would nod in response.
"I-I... I guess? My dad taught me how to do it when I was young. He used to do it all the time." You'd reply. Levi hummed in response before turning his head back to look at you.
"I suppose the same applies to people you hadn't met before?"
You hummed in response and nodded again.
"Yes, Captain. I've done it before."
Levi nodded and put his hands inside the pockets of his pants before he nodded over to the cottage.
"You can walk, right? Come to my office, I have a task for you. But don't ever speak to anyone about this. Do I make myself clear?" His words caused you to nod vigorously, fearing what type of punishment you would deal with if ever you even spoke about this to any living soul.
"Y-Yes, Captain!"
"Good. Now let's get going because once Hange gets back, I won't have the time to do this."
And with that, you followed Levi back to the cottage but since the group had been busy with their chores, they didn't pay you any mind and only thought you were going with Levi to discuss some things about your next move, knowing that you won't have to stay here for long.
Once you entered, Levi gestured to the chair in front of his desk before he closed the door and walked over, sitting himself down on his chair.
"Not sure if I could still remember but I'll do my best. You're going to draw a woman." Levi started, causing to scramble and flip your sketch book open to a completely clean blank page.
"She's fairly young. Around her late twenties or early thirties. She has long black hair. Straight, parting in the middle." He would say, all while staring off in the distace as you nodded and sketched your way to his description of this woman that he speaks of.
You didn't know who it was that he was describing. And a part of you doubts it would be his lover. Levi didn't seem like the type to fall in love with his comrades or even has the time to engage himself in such a thing especially when humanity is at the mercy of those man-eating Titans.
Snapping yourself out of your thoughts, you decided to focus more on Levi's words.
"Her face is heart shaped. Eye brows are a bit thin. Straight, slightly upturned nose. Narrow, grey eyes. Small but full lips."
You took note of what this woman looked like and the more you sketched her, the more you realized this woman looked a lot like Levi except for the fact that she looks much softer compared to him. Unlike Levi, this woman had a soft stare despite her narrow eyes. She wasn't at all emotionless and frowning. You thought it would best suit her if she was smiling just a tad bit. Your instincts told you so.
"Give her a white dress. Smock."
You'd nod and followed Levi's instructions as you went ahead and gave her a smock dress that looked so fitting for her. Silently, you hoped you gave Levi what he was asking for. You didn't know who this woman was but deep inside you knew she must have been someone who was very important to him.
You were now putting in shades onto your sketch, making sure the woman in your drawing looked flawless as possible. It was so bizarre that she looks so much like Levi. It was like Levi himself in a girl's clothing and his hair longer but without the undercut he usually sported.
Once you were done, you carefully stood up and gently place your sketch book onto his desk face down so he could turn it over himself once you sat down.
"Did I get it right, Captain?" You asked, watching him as he turned the sketch book over, his eyes widening slightly as a breath escaped from his lips.
You'd watch as Levi brushed his fingers against the paper, as if he was trying to memorize every part, every crevice of your drawing of this woman. You noticed how his eyes looked rather... soft for one moment before he realized he wasn't alone in this room.
"I hope you don't mind." He'd say and went ahead to carefully cut the drawing from your sketchbook with a cutter. For he didn't want to risk ripping it.
"By all means, go right ahead." You'd say.
"You captured her perfectly." Levi said, his gaze never leaving the drawing, "I remember her wearing a dress like this. It was white but since the Underground was as dirty as a rat's home, the dress turned dirty grey."
You stayed silent as he spoke, nodding slowly at his story.
"If you don't mind me asking, Captain, but... who did I just drew?"
Levi was silent for a while before he set the drawing aside and pushed your sketchbook carefully back to you.
"She's my mother. Her name was Kuchel. She died because of some kind of disease and maybe starvation."
His words left you speechless for a moment that your eyes widened for a bit before you nodded slowly.
"She's beautiful."
"Yeah. She was. She was a prostitute in the Underground so you could imagine how it was living there. But she did her best for as long as she could."
"She must be proud of you. Being humanity's strongest soldier after all."
Levi scoffed and looked as if he was trying to fight off a chuckle, "She'd have my head is more accurate. If she was here, she would have never let me joined the Survey Corps. And if she found out that I did, I'd have an earful with the woman."
You'd chuckle, "Mothers are like that, I guess. Doesn't matter how old you are. You'd still be their kid."
Levi nodded slowly before he stood up from his chair and leaned against his desk.
"Okay, brat. Enough with the chit-chat. Go back with the others and rest up. We don't need dead weight for when we make our move, won't be long 'till we have to get going."
You nodded, taking note of Levi putting up his walls again though you already knew it would eventually happen considering this man wasn't the most approachable person in the world.
"Yes, Captain." You'd say and grabbed your sketchbook from the his hand before you held on to your crutch.
"And, Y/N?" You lifted your head up to look at him.
"Thank you. It's been years since I last saw my mother and I feared I may have forgotten what she looked like. I only ever saw her in my memories, in my dreams. This is the first time I talked about her since she died. So, uh... thank you."
You smiled softly and nodded your head.
"You're welcome, Captain. I'm glad I drew her accurately."
"I should ask you to draw someone for me again. But that's a story for another time."
"May I ask who it is though?"
Levi paused and gulped.
"They were my comrades. They were with me when I first joined here. They were with me when I was in the Underground."
Your mouth formed a small 'O' before you hummed in response.
"Alright, enough talk. Get out of here, brat, I got shit to do." Levi would say before you nodded and went on your way and closed the door behind you, making your way back to the group where they began to bombard you with questions as to why you were in Levi's office, to which you lied and answered that you were discussing what the next move would be.
They bought it, of course.
Unbeknownst to you, Levi smiled slightly down at your sketch of his Mom.
"You still look beautiful as ever, Ma."

C L U M S Y / I I D A PART THREE
And for all this pain, that I can't explain There's a black flag wavin' tonight You know I let you down I've been clumsy with your heart again
Tumblr media
I I D A | P A R T  T H R E E (F i n a l)
[Part One] [Part Two]
C L U M Y  M A S T E R L I S T
Word Count: 3.5k
A/N: I am so sorry for how delayed these posts have been! However, I had SO much fun writing Iida. I actually was worried I wouldn’t portray him right, but with some research and actually giving it a shot, I had so much fun writing him! I never thought I would actually simp over Iida??? (Dont worry Kaminari & Shinsou, I STILL YOU TOO MORE) But like, I get it now. He’s such a sweet character. With this being the final part for Iida, that means there will be more characters coming into play! That dones’t mean that Iida won’t get more love in the future! If you have suggestions or requests for Iida (or the other bois) just shoot me a message :) Hope you enjoy!!
Classes seemed to drag on for Iida after the little escapade with you this morning after homeroom. He was all out of focus and even skipped lunch for that matter. He found himself sitting on the rooftop where he had met you previously that week. When he had admitted to noticing you and potentially admitted falling for you. In the exact spot Aizawa caught him technically skipping class and threatening to expel him. Iida was confused and baffled by what you had said.
“WELL, MAYBE IF YOU DIDN’T SNEAK YOUR WAY INTO MY BED WHEN I WAS SICK AND MAKE ME FALL FOR YOU, I WOULD PROBABLY ACTUALLY CAREMORE.”
Those words kept echoing in his head, making Iida breathe out in frustration. He knew he had to apologize to you, but when you refused to show up to class what was he supposed to do? He genuinely was curious about you, even if you were the opposite of him. Even with Aizawa down his throat about his recent behavior, he still wanted nothing more than to be in your presence. Something about the morning he came to check in on you sparked something in him for you. In that moment you were vulnerable and trusted Iida enough to take care of you; enough to trust in him enough to not take advantage of you.
Iida heard the rooftop access door open, and for a split moment he was hopeful that maybe it was you. He was met with disappointment when it was just Midoriya. “Are you alright, Iida? I’m a bit worried about you.” He sheepishly said. Iida shook his head no and sighed. He took off his glasses and put them onto the top of his head. “For being class representative, I have been slacking in m duties. Both academically and as a friend.” He admitted to Midoriya, who had moved from the door to where Iida had sat himself.
“I will say, it’s very unlike you to skip out on meals. I looked for you everywhere, but when someone from class 1-B told me they saw you come to the roof, I was even more baffled. This is usually where Kacchan or Y/L/N hang out.” Midoriya pointed out, resting a fist onto his chin in thought. “Yes, I know, I found Y/L/N out here one day when she skipped class. It’s quite relaxing to just stare at the sky when you’re stressed.” Iida huffed out. Midoriya stared at him with a look of concern.
"I don't know all of what's going on between you and Y/L/N, but I think you should go talk to her. She seemed pretty upset this morning." Midoriya stated after taking in Iida's pained expression. "I came up here looking for her, figuring she may be up here ditching classes again. I assumed wrong. She's probably in her room at Heights Alliance." Iida confirmed, letting Midoriya in on his thought process. "You know, I try not to mingle in the gossip that goes around. However, it seems that Yaoyorozu thinks the two of you are getting pretty close too. I don't want you getting in the middle of something that may stress you out more." The green haired boy confessed.
Another deep sigh left Iida's lips. He knew Momo had potentially had a thing for him, yet he seemed to be leading her on as well. "I'll have to be forward with her after our final class today then. Then I'll go talk with Y/L/N when we get back to the dorms." Iida stated, standing up with this plan laid in place. Yet, there was still a troubled look on Midoriya's face. "Is there more?" He asked his friend. He chewed on his lower lip anxiously. "You know I would never suggest something of this nature, especially with you being the class rep." Izuku started out slowly, making Iida raise an eyebrow in question.
“You should probably go see her now, Iida.” Midoriya stated in a low tone, hoping to not upset the class rep. Iida immediately thoughts went towards Aizawa and how he had been scolded at not once, but twice for his inappropriate behavior in regard to his duties as class rep. Yet, he knew Midoriya was right. Of course, if you were indeed at Heights Alliance, he could just see you once class was let out. What kind of impression would that make though? You were already very upset with him by the way you had glared at him before leaving the classroom. “Just something to think about Iida.” Midoriya said before heading back to the roof access door.
You forgot when you finally stopped crying in your dorm room, sitting against your bedframe.  The tears that hadn’t gotten wiped away had dried against your cheeks and your eyes felt like they burned. You looked at the time on your nightstand and noticed how it was only one period after what would have been lunch. You had skipped the rest of your morning classes with no intention of going back to your afternoon ones. Aizawa had come to your dorm to check in on you after homeroom class was over much to your surprise.
“I know you know your material, but it wouldn’t hurt for you to show up to class every now and then. You are an impeccable student even for the number of times you slack off. If you showed some actual interest maybe the class rep would cut you some slack. I’m not going to bore myself with hearing the details of my student’s drama. I’m sure the two of you will sort things out.” Aizawa said, putting a comforting hand on your head before walking away.
It was after that moment you had stopped crying so hard. That’s when the tears had started to falter, and you started to take deep breaths in order to calm yourself down. That didn’t stop you from being startled when you heard a knocking on your dorm room door. You figured it might be another teacher checking in on you, but when you opened the door and saw Iida standing there you were baffled. Iida hesitated to look at you at first but when he did and saw your eyes bloodshot and your face stained with tears, his heart broke in half; knowing full well that he was probably the reason you had cried.
You wanted to slam the door in his face more than anything. Frustration burned in your core as you stood there silently. “If you are here to tell me to get to class, you can forget it, Tenya.” You spat out, getting ready to close the door. Your next class was going to begin soon so it was surprising to even see him there. “That’s not why I am here at all, Y/L/N.” He retorted, seeing how tense and uncomfortable you looked to be in his presence. “Well, whatever it is can’t be that important. Class starts soon and you’ll be late class rep.” You choked out, trying to keep your composure but you were still hurting from earlier.
“I’m here to apologize. I was too harsh on you this morning. After our meeting on the roof the other day, Aizawa found me and chewed me out. I was frustrated because I do everything in my immediate power to follow all the rules. Yet, with you, I find myself slipping up and getting in trouble. It worried me. It shouldn’t have worried me to the point of hurting your feelings though.” He admitted to you.
It was like your voice was stuck in your throat. He wasn’t staying behind to work on a class project, he was serving detention that Aizawa gave him because of you. “You got detention because of me.” You whispered out and almost immediately covered your mouth with your hands. “I can’t say that I’ve ever experienced getting detention before.” He laughed, pushing his glasses back up the bridge of his nose.  “Then why did you lie to Yaoyorozu?” You pressed. Did you really have the right to be questioning him? You shook that thought from your head; of course you did! He led you on to believe maybe you had a chance. He embarrassed you in front of your entire class.
“I didn’t want word going around that I was serving detention. I was embarrassed because I am supposed to set examples for my other classmates.” He admitted with a sigh, looking uneasy with the question. “Why didn’t you just rat me out to Aizawa? You didn’t have to take that detention if you told him you were getting me to go back to class. I would have had to serve detention, not you.” You asked in an obvious state of confusion. “I guess it wouldn’t have looked good on me to tell my teacher that my crush was ditching class and to get her into trouble.” He finally said after stumbling over his words for a few minutes.
“Yeah, okay.” You laughed out, rolling your eyes. “Spare me the pity, Tenya. I know you have the hots for Yaoyorozu.” This statement took him by utter surprise. Izuku was right about how rumors were circulating about him and Yaoyorozu. “Well that’s unfortunate for her then, I’ll have to settle that immediately so no one else gets the wrong thoughts.” He said, before turning on a heel to walk back towards campus. “Wait, what?” You sputtered, walking to catch up to him. Surprised by you following him, he turned back around and grabbed your wrist and pulled you back to your dorm room. “Take it easy, you’ve emotionally stressed yourself out. I promise this time I will be back to check on you after classes. I just wanted to come to apologize to you.” He coerced you back into your room.
“You promised last time and you never did. How can I take your word for it this time?” The question slipped out of your mouth before you could stop it. Iida’s blue eyes bore into your own before taking your hand into his. “Y/L/N, I promise I will see you after classes are over.” He whispered, bringing your hand to his lips, and placing a ghost of a kiss onto it. Your face heated up immensely by the bold action of your class rep. “See you then.” He nodded, before rushing back towards the school building. You held your hand to your chest, baffled by what just happened. Yet, you couldn’t fight the smile that was forming on your face as you walked back into your dorm room.
Iida had barely made it back in time for class, but with the help of his quirk and Izuku covering him, he was able to just slip into class undetected by Aizawa. Izuku shot him a quizzical look as if asking if he had gone to your dorm room to apologize. In which, he nodded in response with a feint smile spreading across his face. Ochako seemed lost in this odd silent exchange but Izuku had told her he would fill her in later on. Iida was grateful to have such good friends like Midoriya looking out for him. He would have never considered skipping classes to go check in on a girl, but with the help of his friend he felt like his decision was justified.
Classes went on, and all Iida could think about was you. How small your hands were in comparison to his own, how soft they felt. How your face flushed by his gentle touches. The way you looked adorable being so flustered by his actions. There was no denying it now, the boy was smitten by you. This didn’t bother him as much as he thought it would. He wasn’t going to try and change you, that’s the last thing he wanted to do.
Yes, you broke the rules. You two were polar opposites, but maybe that is what he needed in his life. Was for someone to teach him when to take it easy and when to take much needed breaks. You might not have had the best grades in the class, but you also didn’t seem to be failing. Maybe he was exactly what you needed to motivate yourself into doing better for not just yourself, but for others. “Iida, if I was mistaking it almost looks as if you’re off daydreaming.” Yaoyorozu stated once class had let out. His smile faltered when he saw Momo standing at his desk, smiling.
“I was actually hoping to talk to you after class, Yaoyorozu.” He stated in a more serious tone. “Me too! I’m glad that great minds think alike, shall we walk back to Heights Alliance together?” She suggested, moving her arm to suggest they both walk out of the classroom together. “We can talk right here. I have something to attend to after this that’s important.” He denied her request to walk back to the dorm building together. The last thing he needed was for anyone else to get the wrong idea of the two of them again. This took Momo off guard with his cold disposition. “Momo, I think you are a great friend and an even better student. However, there seems to be rumors speculating about the two of us. I would like to settle those, right now.” He started, his tone still coming off stand-offish.
“Oh what, that the two of us would make a good couple? I agree! I was actually thinking of asking you to join me for tea at the local coffee-“ “Yaoyorozu, I am not interested in dating you.” Iida cut off Yaoyorozu from her statement. She froze and looked at Iida in shock. “Wait, you don’t feel the same way?” She whispered, confusion and hurt flooding her eyes. “I’m sorry, I have feelings for someone else. If I misdirected you with my own feelings, I apologize but I do not feel the same way.” He continued, packing up his bookbag. “Oh what? You’re interested in our lazy classmate who skips all our classes?” She angrily spit back at him, embarrassed for getting rejected like this.
“Yaoyorozu, as your class representative, I must say I don’t take kindly to you down talking one of our classmates.” Iida stated, but in a warning tone. Her eyes widen at his warning tone and she bit her bottom lip. This made her step back from him and walk away frustrated. A sigh left his mouth as he watched her walk away upset. He had hoped it would have gone better than it did. He quickly put his bag on his shoulder and made his way towards Heights Alliance. Izuku, Shoto, and Ochako were all sitting in the front lounge area and smiled to see him. “Want to join us for a study session, Iida?” Ochako offered.
“Sorry guys, I made prior arrangements. Maybe next time.” He said as if he was on a serious mission. “We’ll catch you at lunch tomorrow?” Shoto asked, raising an eyebrow his way. “I wouldn’t hold my breath on that, Todoroki.” Izuku smiled, nodding for Iida to get going. This made Ochako and Shoto look questioningly back and forth from Iida to Izuku. “Thanks Midoriya, I’ll see you all tomorrow.” He smiled before taking off towards the staircase. He didn’t realize how fast he was walking towards your dorm before he slowed himself down.
He knocked on your door and waited for a response. He was however, met with silence on his end. “Y/L/N?” He asked before knocking on the door again. You didn’t answer his attempts of getting your attention. Maybe you were still upset with him from what he had said that morning. He couldn’t hold that against you in the slightest, but it didn’t sting any less for you to be ignoring him. Feeling dejected and idiotic for trying to make amends, he trudged back down to his own dorm room to put his belongings down.
He was very startled to see you standing outside his door room though. “Y/N?” He breathed, startled that you were waiting for him at his own dorm. You had a slight blush spread across your face and you were fidgeting with your hands. “I was nervous you wouldn’t come check on me after classes ended. I figured that maybe if I waited for you at your dorm that I could at least talk to you here.” You admitted, still fumbling with your thumbs. Iida relaxed and a soft smile spread across his lips. He walked up to you and took your hands into his own. “I promised you I’d come see you. I meant it this time.” He whispered, once again bringing your hands to his lips.
This action had once again made your face flush a very bright red. “If I were none the wiser, I would think you were running another fever Y/L/N.” He teased you, bringing you close to him. He had wrapped his arms around your waist, and you couldn’t fight the blush that was etching itself deeper on your face. “Do I need to take care of you again, Y/N?” This caught you off guard; he always referred to you by your last name. You looked up to see him genuinely smiling at you brightly. “I-I should be alright. However, I wouldn’t mind spending some time with you. If you don’t mind, that is.” You stuttered out, avoiding eye contact. “I would really like that, Y/N.” He admitted, the smile never breaking from his face.
“Just know, I will always come and take care of you when you are sick from now on.” Iida admitted to you, making you gape at him in surprise. “I don’t understand.” You whispered. He rolled his eyes and continued to smile at you. “How many times do I have to tell you, that I like you, Y/N? I’m not just saying that. I mean it. I turned Yaoyorozu down before coming to see you. I can’t get you out of my head. I don’t mind getting in trouble if it means getting to see and talk to you.” He admitted, making your heart soar. You never imagined the class representative admitting his own feelings towards you. You always thought Iida was out of your league, especially with your lackadaisical nature towards school.
“I need someone like you to help ground me, to help me recognize when I need to slow down and just appreciate the clouds. Now, I’m not saying I’m going to be skipping class with you, that’s just silly. However, I will not be as uptight about everything.” He joked, making you smile. “Not even every once in a blue moon?” You questioned, a sparkle of mischievous in your eyes. He hummed in thought before shaking his head. “I do have a duty to fulfill as class rep, you know. However, I wouldn’t mind skipping a few study sessions to spend time with my new girlfriend, if she accepts my feelings back.” He slurred quickly.
You batted your eyes at him, dumbfounded. “You don’t have to accept them back, don’t feel like I am pressuring you.” He quickly stated, almost pulling himself away from you. However, you grabbed the collar of his shirt and pulled his lips into yours. Iida was now the one who was flushed with red from his neck to the tips of his ears. You pulled back with a shy smile. “That was very inappropriate for school standards, Y/N! What if Aizawa walked by! We would be getting reprimanded!” He whisper yelled at you, removing his arms from you to chop them in the air frantically. “I don’t hear you saying anything about not enjoying it, Tenya.” You remarked. His mouth fell open for a moment before he coughed and pulled himself together.
“Yes, I will be your girlfriend, Iida.” You stated, laying your head on his chest. Shock overtook Iida’s features at first, but they softened by your touch. He wrapped his arms that he was frantically moving before around you in a strong embrace. “I meant it; I will always be here to take care of you. Protect you. Do whatever I can to make sure you are still smiling and not crying ever again.” He declared, kissing the top of your head. You hummed in response.
“Now, let’s go relax. I think we’ve both had a very long and eventful  day that warrants some downtime.” Iida said, pulling away from your embrace. “Don’t we have a test on Monday?” You questioned. “That’s two days from now, we can study at some point this weekend. Why don’t we just, watch a movie together?” He suggested, the red coming back to his face as he rubbed the back of his head, nodding towards his dorm room. A smile crept up onto your lips as you nodded and took him by the hand and drug him into his dorm room for a night filled with cuddles, movies and stolen kisses.~

Hello luce! It’s been a hot minute. My brain has been a little empty lately, with… bleh. School work. I’ll never get quite use to homework, and my grades will suffer all the more for it. But in any case. How have you been lately?
Recently, the Mondstadt reputation rewards caught my eye. I’m curious about the NRE and the portable waypoint. I could just look it up or whatever, get the experience there, but then there wouldn’t be much of a point of playing genshin on the first place for me. That all aside, how do you like fishing? Ive been really enjoying it, but I feel distaste for the long respawn times of the fish. I wish it was like, only one real life day instead of three. Did you participate kn the Lunar Leviathan event?
Do you have any tips for expanding vocabulary? I’ve been trying to check thesaurus’s word of the day, along with other dictionaries, what advice you have on it if any?
I don’t have any good transitions for this, but here are some Kaeya hcs I came up with on the spot.
-Kaeya putting his cape on your shoulder when he has to leave the room. People staring at him incredulously, “The Calvary captain??? Without his signature cape???” “That’s Sir Kaeya for you. He gets uncharacteristically sweet when ever his s/o is around,”
-Kaeya coming to work in braids because you braided his hair while you two were cuddling that morning. Adamantly refuses to take it out unless it’s by you at the end of the day.
-memorizes your favorite takeout orders, every side, every specification. Then, when you need comfort food, he’ll be able to bring your favorite food to you with no hassle.
-begging you for attention when he’s bored. “Y/nnnnn, you’re so cruel… coming so late to pick me up from the angels share… hold me, y/n… I’m so incredibly touched starved from your missing presence..!” It’s all playful, of course, but he hopes the genuine affection for you isn’t lost in translation. Because after a stressful day of work, you really are all he needs.
-I like to imagine that if you were a knight of Favionous, on some days, you’d be able to talk to Jean and take over most of Kaeyas paperwork, giving him a break. He’d be startled, wondering if the small pile of papers on his desk is a trap, as if when he finishes it the more typical pile up to his neck will appear. He’ll scold you for it when he finds out- he’d really rather be the one taking the extra stress instead of you, after all, he’s use to it- but those days you help him split the work are the ones where he realizes now much he was in need of a break.

🎃 nonnie!! hello hello hehe how are you? :) i'm doing pretty well myself, thanks for asking! booo i hear you on school, but it'll get better! it's only september after all and everyone's still adjusting :)
ooh i've had the nre for a while, it's a bit of a life saver (especially for me who relies on zhongli's shield far too much HAHA) but the game will always be there for you to play at your own pace! take your time and enjoy what you like best about the game :)
fishing? honestly i really like the mechanic HAHA it's sort of like animal crossing (i used to play animal crossing new horizons A LOT before i got into genshin) and fishing was always my favorite part in ac! i also like the pretty fish in genshin eeeee i really wanted this gorgeous looking crystalfish but i was fishing in an event pond and couldnt pull out the fruitpaste bait :( i'm glad you're enjoying it too!! but like you said, i hope the respawn times can be fixed!
hmm, i found that my vocabulary was best expanded the more i read. i'd find new words and remember them when i'd do google searches for more intriguing words. additionally, you can substitute a word in your writing with a suitable one that you find on thesaurus.com or onelook.com! it really depends on how much you like reading and what methods you prefer best: in the moment stuff or long-term expansion of vocabulary. either way, don't worry about rushing! take your time and find words you like the best :)
WOOHOO HEADCANONS WITH THE BEST BOY!! :D
- kaeya without his cape is like klee without her hat LOL but he'd sacrifice his appearance if it meant you'd stay warm >:)
- YES AAA he doesn't care if he looks ridiculous or whatever, his!!! s/o!!! braided!!! his!!! hair!!! and no one but you is going to take it out >:) also putting flowers, barrettes, and hairclips into his hair with his permission OOOO HE'D LOOK SO PRETTY :D
- he'd also just memorize it because when the inevitable "what do you want to eat" "idk what do YOU want to eat" scenario happens, he can just go and get your favorite since it's his favorite as well now >:)
- awww yes YES he's like a puppy that needs attention AND HE DESERVES IT MWAH MWAH HE DESERVES SO MUCH AFFECTION
- this!!! :( i think he'd definitely appreciate the thought and would cut himself some slack after tasting some relaxation in a long time :D and he might just prefer working with you opposed to working alone since you make for good company ;)
thanks for your messages and hcs 🎃 nonnie!! i absolutely adored them ehehe >:)

Oooo for the Christmas letter/gift event could I request dobermann writing to her fem!operator s/o who is stationed further away for the holidays please? I'm soft for her 🥺
From, Dobermann
Christmas Letter and Gift event
Tumblr media
It was so cold; you really should’ve bought a thicker coat, though in your defense, you hadn't been expecting to be sent out on an extended Operation for the Holidays, especially not one in the outskirts of Kjerag, the literal snow realm.
Returning to the Rhodes Island camp with the rest of your squad, you put your weapon away with a sigh, watching as your breath fogs up before you. Your squad captain nods at you all, firmly reminding you and your squadmates to prepare to escort another convey in a few hours. With a salute and word of affirmation, you part ways with your squad, heading back to your assigned cabin.
“[Name]?” The relief on your face dissipates immediately when you hear your captain calling for you. Expecting to be assigned with a new task that would leave you with even less time to rest, you answered with a less than eager nod.
The dread on your face was gone in an instant when you were handed a package; a plain, lightweight cardboard box. You accept it and lift a brow, “Who’s this from?” Your squad captain shrugs, “No idea, a messenger from back at Rhodes Island delivered it earlier today and told me to give it to you. You can deal with it inside, it’s cold out here.”
You can't disagree with that - with a respectful salute, you part ways with the captain, finally able to step into the warmth of your cabin.
Exhausted, you shed your coat and toss your weapon aside before sitting on the edge of your cot with the package in your lap. There’s no sender’s or recipient’s address or name, and you don't remember ordering anything - regardless, you open it to satisfy your curiosities. Upon opening it, you briefly inspect its contents; nothing in particular catches your eye, but the first thing you see is a sheet of paper stamped with the Rhodes Island insignia. Just from the neat, slanted handwriting creating paragraphs on the page, an expression of serenity comes over your face as you realize just who the package is from.
--------------------
[Name],
I regret not being able to express these thoughts to you in person, but in our situation there isn't much that can be done. So, this cardboard box and its contents are my compromise.
I may be risking my job if I say this, but I find the Doctor's decision to dispatch you so far away at such late notice is unwarranted - and so close to the Holidays as well… you should've called me, I would've given them quite the earful. What's passed is passed, however, and if the Doctor finds its best, then I can't argue.
I hadn't expected much to change around Rhodes island during Christmastime, but against my expectations, everything practically exploded with festivities. Bright lights hanging from the walls and the atmosphere filled with this mushy warmth despite the fact the weather is freezing outside - ha, can you believe the newbies even expected an extended break from the training program because of the holiday season? Maybe it’s too harsh of me to deny them any sort of vacation...but the way I see it, war doesn't pause its advances just because of Christmas, so neither should we.
To be honest, Christmas and its traditions aren't something I particularly enjoy; it’s all a little tacky. Maybe it's because as a military woman Holidays were never something I had the luxury of enjoying, but that's besides the point. There’s been various attempts to try and put me into the “Christmas Spirit”, but they've been useless for the most part, and end up in awkwardness or embarrassment - while I appreciate everyone's efforts, it's more of a hassle than anything.
Ha, just today, one of the trainees gifted me a box of pricey, Siracusian hot chocolate; yeah, chocolate…. It’s not their fault, after all, chocolate is widely loved by many people. I just happen to be part of the minority who can't stand it. Besides, something that sugary would ruin my diet; I’ll most likely just end up leaving it in the staff lounge or cafeteria for anyone to take. Hm….I’ll deal with it, don't worry about me.
Other than the Holidays, a few other things have been on my mind. For one, you forgot your heavier coat at home, and it's practically a 24 hour long blizzard outside; don’t freeze out there, or there might just be fifty laps around the training grounds waiting for you upon your return to Rhodes Island. But in all seriousness - [Name], be careful out there. Back here at Rhodes Island, festivities are in full swing and most things have been light hearted, but where you are, you don't have the luxury of slacking off or getting sloppy.
Ha, now that I think about it, a lot of my thoughts have been about you. Maybe it’s concern for your safety as your boss, or maybe it’s me as your lover missing you and your company. You know [name], if you told my past self that you were going to be my lover in time, I probably would have laughed at you in a dry, unamused tone. If something happens to you out there...Don’t be an idiot; follow your orders.
On a more heartening note…I decided to purchase something for you. It's a gift; Don't ask me when or why I bought it, but I’ve had it for some time. I just wasn't certain when the appropriate time to give it to you would be. Presents are meant to be exchanged during the Holiday season, so I’m giving it to you now. It’s not very extravagant or eye-catching, but it’s a gift nonetheless.
“Christmas Spirit”, huh? It’s been years since I bought someone a gift I put this much thought into...Maybe all those efforts from the trainees and other instructors worked after all. Heh, moving on.
After you return, I’ll free up a few days on my schedule around Christmas Day. Training physicality is important, but caring for the mind is as well. It’s been quite some time since we had some time to ourselves; I may be a very disciplined person, but I’m not heartless. I think stepping away from work to spend time with the one I love is justified, and I’m sure you'd agree that we both need a break.
This upcoming Christmas will be one of the few I spend off the field of battle, and the very first I celebrate with you. Ha, something tells me that if you’re with me, I might end up enjoying these Christmas traditions and rituals; I’ll be honest, window shopping, building snowmen and dancing to Christmas carols don't sound as ridiculous when I imagine myself doing them with you.
I'll cut this short, we can't have you losing focus, now can we? One last thing I have to tell you - you should know this already, but...I love you, [name]. I'm going to stress this again; stay safe for me, don't get distracted. Now get back to work.
Dobermann
--------------------
With all traces of exhaustion gone from your eyes, a smile paints your lips. Your eyes stay on the letter for a few moments longer, grasping tightly onto the feeling of warmth that fills you at Dobermann's words. When you pull your gaze away from the letter you realize something still remains inside the box - and then you remember that Dobermann had mentioned a gift for you in her letter.
You place the letter on your pillow, then take the smaller, neatly wrapped box out of the bigger cardboard one. You tear away the plain brown paper from the small box, after removing the lid from it, your eyes widen just slightly.
Sitting inside of the box is a simple silver bracelet, and engraved on the band are the words ‘never to part’. Smiling with adoration behind your eyes, you remove it from the box carefully; the bracelet feels durable and fits on your wrist perfectly. It’s not flashy, and compared to jewellery studded with diamonds and decorated with carefully carved patterns, it can't compare - but between you and Dobermann, it carries all kinds of meanings and messages reserved only for you and her.
A small pit forms in your stomach as a sudden yearn for Dobermann passes over you - sighing slightly, you trace your fingertips over the words on the silverband. Your eyes slip shut; you wish you were back at Rhodes Island, sitting in silence while watching the snow, with your head on her shoulder and her arm around your waist. A little hesitantly, you reopen your eyes, and you notice that there’s a sticky note stuck to the bottom of the previously wrapped gift box, with rows of words in Dobermann’s handwriting filling it.
Lifting a brow slightly, you unstick it from the box and read it slowly; ‘I want to be together with you for a long time, and if we want to stay with one another we both have to be strong...think of the bracelet as a reminder of that fact.’ Once more, a small smile paints your lips, and at the very last words of the note, you chime with a light laugh, ‘Merry Christmas, [name]. Take care of yourself, or I’ll do it for you.’

Nothing to worry about
After many, many attempts to decode the data to find Sora, Riku was spent. A thought came to him that maybe if he messed with data with the difficulties all the way up, then something might change. It had to be his third day screwing up on the same attacks over and over again. He didn’t remember fighting the organization to be this hard! Riku was a prideful guy that managed to beat most of them but enough was enough! He had been stuck on one obstacle for far too long and his hands hurt from hitting the wall the one time he rage quit. It was time to bring in backup, and he knew just the people…
Xion:You want me to want?
Riku:Beat data Xion for me. You’re too strong.
Roxas:It’s a computer…
Axel:Dude, you don’t get to say that when you smash computers instead of pressing keys.
Saix:You What?
Riku:Focus!!! I called you specifically because you’ve fought Xion, fought Sora, and some of you have done both while technically being connected to Sora; so you know how to play him well.
Axel:I feel like you’re missing people.
Riku:People are busy. You are the only ones that are still around a lot.
Xion:Am I really that tough?
Riku:Painfully.
Xion:Hmmm. I’m not sure how I feel about fighting myself. Something about it feels...depressing.
Axel:I’ll do it. I’m great at games! Plus we’ve fought a bunch of times! I know your moves.
Xion:But you lost…
Axel:Still learned them! *sits down* Watch the master!
That was the statement he made. It’s been three hours since Axel had that confidence. Now he was face down on the bed in the committee room along with Riku. If he heard “why do you fight” one more time, he’d lose his mind.
Axel:Since when do you bounce around like a ball of light!?
Roxas:Why are you surprised? I do it all the time.
Axel:I don’t even understand how you do it!!!
Saix:I can’t believe you didn’t even get half health.
Axel:Think you can do better!?
Saix:Nope, but I won’t act like I can to look cool. Xion, I’ve never seen you do half of the things that program does. Is it an exaggeration or…?
Xion:No, it’s possible. Doing all of that just makes me tired.
Saix:...(I never stood a chance in that graveyard. Then again I try not to go full berserk for the same reason.)
Roxas:My turn! I’m not exactly thrilled about fighting any version of you but helping Sora is the goal here. I just hope Cid didn’t program all of your armors. Not a big fan of the second one or you being the size of the central station tower.
Xion:*red* Hehehe...yeah that was pretty wild.
RAS:You can do what…?”
The change of players was getting better results. Roxas was in his third attempt when he started getting a good rhythm. Watching Axel helped, but there was something else. A weird six sense. Riku was right about him controlling Sora, it felt natural. Battling data Xion was the same. The way he predicted her movements were scarily good.
Axel:Wow, look at you go.
Roxas:Sssshhh, I need focus. I wanna do this as fast as possible. It might be data but hurting Xion feels wrong.
Xion:*red* Roxas…
The man makes it to the desperation move. It’s the second time he’s made it here and he wished data Xion had the armors instead! He didn’t last long before another game over screen. Everyone groaned while Roxas rested his head on the wooden desk.
Roxas:Gah! I can’t even begin to understand those patterns. Your columns of light move way too wildly!
Riku:I hate the fact that if you recover from a strike raid then the next one is delayed to change your rhythm! Why are you so smart Xion?
Xion:Sora does that too. It’s how to survive relentless attacks sometimes. I’ve told you all the timing so-
Roxas:Xion, I really don’t want to make you feel uncomfortable, but you might as well grab the controller. The only person who knows you, is you.
Xion:And Ven, and Namine, you, Sora, Kai- fine I’ll give it a try!
Riku:Thank you.
Xion died immediately going into the fight. All eyes looked at her in disbelief as her face got red.
Xion:I wasn’t ready! Let me get a few warm up rounds in! I have never done anything like this. Roxas, can you go back to Twilight Town and get a small white bag in the usual spot?
Roxas:Okay.
A few warm up rounds turned into a dozen. Riku even saw her scroll through the settings once or twice. Then she wouldn’t do the fight right away. Instead she’d press bottoms to see how Sora reacted and fast. He didn’t want to be antsy but a piece of him wanted to try again. Riku went over to ask when Roxas came through the door to hand her the bag. Xion ran the program again. She reached in the bag as it loaded and pulled out something Riku didn’t know she still had. Her organization gloves.
Riku:You kept those?
Xion:Gripping a keyblade barehanded feels weird. So does messing with computers…
Data Xion:Why do you f-
Xion:Yeah we know the line…
Riku never considered himself good at things like video games or computers, but he didn’t think he was bad either. That was until he watched Xion start moving her fingers faster than he could keep track off. The whole room was silent except for the sound of clicking. Data Sora was moving at speeds and performing tricks Riku and the others didn’t even know about. He wasn’t getting hit at all!!! Axel could quietly hear Xion mumble numbers. A set amount when she attacked, and then a different set when the data version did. The sets kept resting and ending differently depending on what weapon she used or magic. He couldn’t make heads or tails of it.
Axel:H-How?
Xion:How what?
Roxas:How are you doing this!?
Xion:Like you and Riku said. I know me, as well as Sora. I’m only gonna get hit so many times before I find a chance to counter. Also, there’s only so many moves you can program. It’s still just code!
She made it sound so easy, yet Riku. Can only think about how many times late last night he couldn’t figure out a single time to appropriately heal or attack. Yet here Xion is, perfect blocking and interrupting the desperation move. She even found time to take a picture before delivering the final blow!
Xion:Boom! Easy!
Riku:FINALLY!
Saix:You really should’ve gone first.
Xion:But it was thanks to you guys that I was able to watch and learn without stressing out. It was a group effort. I guess we’re done here. Thanks Riku, that was kinda fun. *stands up*
Riku:Ummm haven’t beaten master Xehanort either. Do you think maybe….
Xion:*Sits down* You owe one for this.
Riku:I know a good spot to find the best seashells.
Xion:Deal!
The crew let her get to work on the baldy while they occupied their time. Half an hour passed before they sat around a table eating. Riku looked over to see Xion learning how to deal with every move possible. It looked impossible. Most of the organization did. Another game over screen appeared and Riku sighed.
Axel:You alright champ?
Riku:It might be data, but seeing Sora lose is depressing. I hope he’s alright.
Roxas:Why wouldn’t he be?
Riku:He’s not the luckiest guy. Danger might as well be a spell when it comes to Sora. All of these data fights made me realize just how dangerous the organization really was. The thought of him running into something or someone as dangerous as that alone doesn’t sit well with me.
Everyone:......
Roxas:You know Riku, you can be pretty dumb sometimes.
Riku:Huh!?
Xion:Roxas!
Roxas:What!? All I’m saying is you would think after seeing a program based off of him successfully beat crazy strong people like Xion that you’d have the most faith in his skills. I mean who else do you know has enough different moves to handle so many kinds of fighters?
Riku:....Heh, thanks Roxas.
Roxas:*red* Yeah whatever. Just stating the obvious.
Axel:Yeah! Sora’s alright. I mean he was able to beat me after all.
Saix: If that’s the bar then maybe we should worry.
Axel:Hey!
Xion:I mean we did tie when I was tired.
Roxas:I beat you with amnesia.
Riku:Sora did too.
Axel:Who’s side are you on! This is the thanks I get for trying to cheer you up? Cut me some slack.
The friends shared a good laugh teasing Axel. Even he couldn’t help but join in on it. Riku should know better than anybody just how capable Sora is.
(Wherever you are, I’m sure you’re just fine.)
xxxx
Fine was the appropriate word to describe it. If a Riku or the others used anything more positive then they surely would’ve bit their tongue. If only they could see their friend right now, dodging and struggling on a rooftop under a starry sky dome. A swarm of gigas closed in on our young hero to overwhelm him, but to avail. Sora whipped out a storm flag and slammed it on the ground to summon the watery beast of the seven seas. It’s tentacles whacked away and crushed the gigas flat. Now wasn’t a time to rest though. Yozora, his opponent, wasn’t done yet. Sora saw rapid flashes of red lock in on him and switched to the counter shield.
He hyped himself “Come on!” Spurs shouted. The first attack came from the left, then right. Four more were dead on before another six ferocious slashes came from the left. Collision after collision conjured sparks that lit up the impacts of each attack. Yozora finally thought he had an opening to stab from behind but was sorely mistaken when Sora had already pivoted already and unleashed a barrage of fists that knocked Yazora in the air. Sora leaped up to follow up with a change into the second form. “Get back here!” He pulled his opponent back in with a magnet burst then went right into an ars arcanum. Blades clashed faster than anyone could keep up with before Sora’s ferocity gave him an edge that turned into full blown hits that ended with him spiking Yozora to the ground. As he fell, Sora was shot in the back by a laser that sent him to the metal floor behind. He had no time to dodge the cross slash that connected against his chest. He watched Yozora vanish and switched right into ultimate form to do the same.
This disappearing and reappearing act made their sparks seem more like fireworks. Crackles and pops
Danced up and down the battlefield as each person kept attempting to warp for both offense and defense until Yozora got the better of Sora by trapping in an exploding prism that launched Sora sky high. Yozora finally had room to breath and could plant fis feet long enough to charge his blade. He watched his target recover mid air and unless a salvo of fireballs with double arrow guns. A good idea if it wasn’t so far away that is. “Sorry but-huh!?” A blue light washed over Sora and propelled him directly at Yozora with his attack. Yozora was quick enough to slash Sora away but decided to pull back by backflipping the fireballs; a big mistake. He had underestimated Sora’s speed. Before he could even reach the ground, Sora was already in front of him again. This time with a massive rocket propelled hammer that hit him in the direction of the fireballs. The magic projectiles curved midair to hope in on his location and blasted him right in the chin. This was bad, really bad. To think he’d have this much trouble with someone who looked so clueless moments ago. He had to switch things up and vanished again.
Sora switched to nano arms and stood perfectly still. “Three….four….” he pulled a barrier right as a glimmer of red formed into Yazora that blasted some strange wide shots from his crossbow before vanishing again. Sora turned the machines into yo-yos next and swung straight. “There!” Yozora appeared right as expected and hit dead on. Sora pulled himself to wards and shifted to his frozen blades for additional slashes.
“You’re Just full of surprises aren’t you!?” Yozora grimaced.
“Don’t Give me that look! I didn’t want to fight!” Sora went for a kick but was too slow. Yozora managed to warp behind Sora and summoned a massive red orb that started pulling everything into it.
“Let’s see how you dodge this one.” Yozora turned up the pressure and started warping as fast as possible at Sora again and again, cutting and slashing him cleanly to knock him off balance until Yozora delivered one more powerful slash across his body that sent Sora flying into the orb. He quickly up to it and glided his blade along it to trigger a massive explosion that made Sora scream. Smoke and fire filled the air for a moment. That was a move not even Yozora himself was too good at avoiding. Nobody was gonna get it right from the jump.
Finally, the battle was over. It was longer than expected but the end result was the same. “Sorry, but I don’t lose-” Another shockwave from the explosion accorded suddenly and dispersed the smoke. That’s never happened before. Yozora shielded his eyes and scanned the ground, no Sora. Just black puddles. He dared not walk closer to them when they started to increase in size until a bigger one formed near his feet and Sora hopped out with glowing eyes and drenched in darkness. “This guy…” Yozora mistakenly readied a block for the keyblade as was then punched by Sora’s free hand, throwing him off and into a world of rageful attacks he had no choice but to receive. Sora was fast, too fast. The patterns seemed random. It was impossible to know what to look out for with the addition of kicks thrown in as Sora instinctively warp in numerous spots to bat Yazora around. Any attempt to escape the loop was met with a primal roar that kept the loop going until one final monstrous attack came. Sora went right through Yozora and into the ground. Strange black orbs rose up from bigger pools of black from earlier and detonated repeatedly, leaving Yozora no room to escape.
What was once a dark night turned into blinding light as Sora once again appeared above Yozora’s falling body in a new form; and with two blades. It was hard for him to understand what happened next. All he could see was light and feel the pain it inflicted everywhere as pillars of them struck down around Sora, who remained airborne and glowing. A look of pure grit on his face as he shouted.
“I guess...my power isn’t needed after all.”
xxxx
Xion:I beat him! But...I don’t think there’s anything here that might help. Sorry Riku. I know you wanna find him as soon as possible.
Riku:Hmmm, that’s alright. *smiles* Wherever he is...I’m sure he’s doing just fine.

okay so. a hurricane is coming, and i’m not worried about it. i’ve hardly thought about it tbh. i was born during a hurricane. that doesn’t actually bear on this (probably?), it’s just been on my mind.
i’m not worried about Hurricane Henri
also.
some drunk driver smashed into my baby brother’s car and fled the scene. he has broken ribs and bruised intestines but he’s otherwise fine. by the time my mom called me, my older brother was already driving out there to take care of things, including baby bro’s dog, who had been alone since the previous evening when it happened. he’s going to be staying in my folks’ spare room in their apartment while he recovers, because there’s no one to take care of him out there.
i don’t know if i’ve completely processed this and i might not until i actually see or hear from him
also i can’t help thinking how much easier this would be if mom still had the house, if the landlords hadn’t been such fucking dirtbags and she still had plenty of room and a yard. because she’s got a large dog in brooklyn in a small apartment and it’s hard enough for her to walk him, and now there’s going to be two large dogs and my baby brother can’t do shit with broken ribs and i’m out in the suburbs so my ability to help out will be severely limited
this is the same baby brother that i try to get in touch with and he never reciprocates. i stopped trying to text him for a while because just seeing a long one-sided line of my own unanswered texts was ... discouraging. apparently he doesn’t answer our other siblings either; from what i can tell he only really keeps in touch with mom.
so, idk.
i say “idk” and i mean i really don’t know. how’s this gonna go? how will i be able to handle not being able to help out as much as i would be if everyone were more accessible? how’s mom gonna deal with it? how’s my baby brother going to deal with it?
i also feel weird because i would expect to be more actively upset with all this but it’s just kind of a quiet acceptance? i don’t know what that means. maybe i’m just used to being isolated by now, and if that’s the case, i don’t like it and i don’t want to be used to it
and i know this post is A Whole Lot but i guess what i’m getting at is i want to be more connected to people again, i’m tired of this shit. like, i could have tried harder to keep in touch with not just my baby brother but everyone. although maybe i ought to cut myself a tiny bit of slack because shit has been Real Tough Lately and isolating myself (further, because lbr i’m isolated right out of the gate) is the shittiest possible coping mechanism for These Interesting Times but, you work with what you’ve got i guess. i’m just speaking realistically here btw, i’m not trying to be melancholy. it’s a fact. that is something i do when stress mounts and mental health suffers.
and i mean it’s not like i can make my little brother stay in touch with me. idk, is there a middle ground between ‘giving up altogether on trying to get in touch’ and ‘sending him a monthly text he never replies to except maybe on or around his birthday or a holiday?’ is there a different strategy? i guess one short term tactic would be, like, visit him and try to help out as much as i can while he’s back in new york, recovering from broken ribs and bruised intestines.
this is a very long post full of a lot of things and i apologize for that.
what i am really trying to figure out here is whether this weird calm is a) a fluke b) is a fluke AND will soon dissolve into worrying as usual c) good? progress? d) bad? depression? i just don’t know! and not knowing is weird, because generally i’ve got a pretty good handle on what my feelings are doing.
we’ll see i guess!
jeez i wish this country wasn’t so goddamn big. everyone is so far away which patently sucks. and i still don’t really care about the hurricane. idk. maybe i should? but i don’t

Stole the Show (Pt 2)
Previous Chapter       Next Chapter**
Pairing: Dominic “Sonny” Carisi x Fem! Reader
Chapter summary: Y/n struggles with some choreography while rehearsing late one night, and Sonny takes it upon himself to help out
Content/warnings: Lots of fluff, cursing, mutual pining, anxiety/self deprecating thoughts
Word count: 1,487
Tumblr media
It had been five days since Y/n had taken on the role of Donna Sheridan, and dear god had those five days been hectic. Since the night she slept at Sonny’s, Y/n spent all her time flipping between rehearsing and helping to build a case against the rapist, barely finding the time to take care of herself.
Dance, memorize lines, sing, memorize more lines, then across the city straight to the precinct, work the case, work another case, run lines with Amanda, deliver evidence to Barba, over and over, and despite the chaos, Y/n was happier than Sonny had seen her in a long time.
It was that night, five days later that Carisi found himself tucked into a couch in the break room hours after work had ended, going over a witness statement from the first rape victim in the case as Y/n rehearsed a dance number in the bullpen. Quiet music and the click of her shoes against the dusty floor provided nice background noise for Sonny as he worked, a smile working it’s way across his face as his friend’s melodic voice joined the mix, singing along with the music. Just as he was about to put down the file in exchange for a cup of coffee, Sonny heard a crash from the bullpen, followed immediately by a loud "Fuckshit!" and a groan of annoyance.
Chuckling, he pushed aside his paperwork and wandered over to the door, poking his head out of the break room to be met with Y/n sitting on the floor in the dark, looking utterly defeated as some ABBA song he couldn't put a name on played in the background. Sonny felt bad, but the scene was so comedic he couldn't hold back his snort of laughter before making his way towards her, pausing the music and leaning against a desk next to the shorter figure.
"Wanna tell me what you’re doing?" He asked, offering Y/n a hand up, which she took graciously and winced as she got to her feet quite unceremoniously.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to bother you Sonny, I honestly didn’t even know you were here, it's just this one dance sequence I just can't get right, there's only two days left and I keep messing up, I'm so worried that they're gonna have to cut the number!" Y/n’s eyes welled with tears that she tried quickly to wipe away as she spoke, not wanting her partner to see her cry over something so small. The tears went unmissed by Sonny, however, but he chose not to point them out, hoping to help preserve Y/n’s dignity.
"Nah, c'mon Y/n, don't think like that. You'll get it, I believe in ya"
His words were awkward but sincere, emphasized by his putting a hand on her shoulder in a feeble attempt to comfort the woman he cared so much for.
"I wish I could think like you, I want to believe in myself but I just can't Sonny, i keep fucking it over and the play deserves better, the song deserves better and the cast deserves better, it's supposed to be the highlight of the show and I'm just gonna screw up, i’ll blow my cover and ruin the play. I shouldn’t have suggested this, I’m gonna let everyone down and i’ll never forgive myself"
Y/n didn’t mean to ramble on in such a way but once she started, the words wouldn’t stop, and she took to scuffing the toe of her shoe against the ground as a distraction.
"Well first of all, it's what, two in the mornin'? You've gotta be exhausted, and all the lights are out, you can't expect yourself to be perfect at this right now, you've gotta cut yourself some slack." Sonny’s voice quieted as he realized how late it was, feeling a pang in his heart at the amount of stress this was causing Y/n.
She groaned at the statement, grabbing her coffee that had long since gone cold off her desk and taking another swig before turning back to the detective.
"It's not like that though, everything else is perfect, right now if you asked me to do a run-through of the entire play, start to finish it would all be perfect except for this one part, it wasn’t in the movie and is supposed to be a bit of a shocker to the audience, but now it’s just gonna be a disappointment."
Sonny was silent for a moment, mind running through the ways he could be of help, before stopping at an idea that made his concerned expression break into a smile.
"Would it help ya to practice with a partner? I don't know shit about this typa’ stuff, but you've got enough talent for the both of us, maybe you could teach me a thing or two"
Y/n chuckled a bit, smiling shyly up at her friend.
Would you really do that for me?" She asked quietly, leaning back against the desk, hopeful eyes coming up to meet Sonny’s.
"Of course doll, we're friends, aren’t we? Besides, what other chance will I get to show off all these famous Carisi dance moves"
Sonny punctuated the sentence by striking an Elvis pose, eyes creasing with his goofy smile at the laugh it earned him.
"Thanks so much Sonny, you're a lifesaver"
She smiled, turning to her computer and restarting the song.
"C'mere, follow my lead i guess? You don’t have to match everything i do, just, like, lead my spins and jumps and stuff, try to keep me from falling, the simple things" She said somewhat sheepishly, walking toward Sonny and preparing herself to move again.
The quiet beginning notes of Kisses of fire rang out through the speakers, leading Y/n to place a hand softly on her friend's shoulder, moving slowly with the melody.
Sonny couldn't keep the smile off his face as the song picked up, Y/n flying into a complex dance routine, spinning Sonny across the room, hopping up onto chairs, moving too fast for him to have a prayer of following along.
As the song hit its chorus the second time around, Y/n jumped onto a desk that Sonny just realized had been cleared off, tugging him up with her.
Sonny, realizing she had completely abandoned the choreography by now, joined her in dancing on the desk, spinning her around and grinning widely at the gleeful laugh she had let out at the peak of the final chorus. The song coming to an end, Sonny jumped onto the ground, picking Y/n up bridal style and spinning them together as the last few notes faded out.
She beamed at her friend, holding their position for a few moments longer before slipping out of his arms and landing gracefully on the floor, hands remaining on her friend’s waist
They stood in the veil of comfortable silence for what felt to Y/n like an hour before her hands slipped back to her sides, Sonny then breaking it by telling her she'll do amazing and to go home and get some sleep, before walking to the break room to gather his things.
"Sonny wait" Y/n Called out, suddenly panicked at the thought of the night ending.” Wait, I just… i want to… Thank you, Sonny. That was the most fun I've had in a while" She stuttered, a wave of fear crushing down the words she truly wanted to speak.  I love you, Dominick Carisi, and all i want to do right now is kiss you
"The pleasure was all mine, Ms Y/l/n" Sonny paused in his movement and turned around with a grin, which faded into a look of concern at the expression on his partner’s face. Crossing back over the few steps that separated them, he put a hand on her shoulder and bent down to meet her gaze.
“Look at me, hey c'mon, look at me doll. You’re gonna be perfect. You’ve never blown cover before, and you’re more talented than i could ever imagine. Remember, we’re all gonna be there cheering you on, even if we don’t catch the guy. Trust me, it’s all gonna be ok”
Y/n’s eyes filled with tears at the man’s words, and unable to form a sentence, she stepped forwards and wrapped her arms around his neck in a tight hug, Sonny returning the gesture by wrapping his own arms around her waist, strengthening the embrace.
“You’re gonna be perfect” he repeated, softer this time. “I-... you should go home y/n, really, it’s so late. You gotta sleep”
Y/n sniffled, forcing back tears before nodding against his shoulder, reluctantly pulling out of the hug and gathering her things. She shot the man a grateful smile on her way out of the building, but the smile dropped once he was out of sight, a dejected sigh escaping her lips as she walked towards her apartment.
I love you, Sonny Carisi, you complete me.

Babysit The Babysitter
Writer: Ellie-Mae (Pen Name)
Part: 1/1
Summary: Babysitting was Y/n’s part time job. To her surprise, the school’s prized heart-throb is basically a full time mom.
Pairing: Steve Harrington x Reader
Warnings/Rated: None
Word Count: 1,833

( Reader ) P.O.V.
Hawkins, Indiana. My newfound home.
I’ve been here for two months. Two glorious months of blending into the crowds and trying to not become the target of social ridicule. In that aspect, nothing has changed from my former hometown on the southern tip of the state. No matter where you go, peers are jerks.
I clamber into my house, hanging my backpack on the edge of the kitchen chair. “I’ve got you a job.” Mom says while stirring something sizzling on the stove.
My brow raises curiously. “A job? What kind of job?” I linger over to the fridge and open it to browse it’s empty shelves as a distraction. Finding work has been a source of stress for me, especially in a small town like Hawkins where everyone knows everyone.
Mom smiles reassuringly, setting the food to simmer. She walks over to me, closing the fridge so I will look at her. “It’s a babysitting job for the Wheeler’s. I know how much you like kids, so I thought it was the perfect opportunity! Holly is around four and their son, Mike, is thirteen.”
It’s true, I do love kids... However, thirteen is a difficult age between I-don’t-need-a-babysitter and I-will-set-the-house-on-fire-if-I’m-not-watched. That’s the only thing that gives me a millisecond of hesitation. I smile at my mom, her expression mirroring mine.
“When’s my first shift?”
****
So, Friday after school, I drive over to the Wheeler residence to meet with the parents before they went off to have a ‘date night’. Holly was your typical four year old, playing with her toys on the living room carpet. Mike, on the other hand, was less than thrilled at the thought of my company.
“Mom, I don’t need a babysitter! This is ridiculous!” He cries as Mrs. Wheeler slides in a pair of earrings. “Will, Dustin and Lucas are supposed to be coming over to finish our campaign!”
“And you can finish your game just fine while Y/n is here. Nancy is out with Jonathan and we need someone here to put Holly to bed. I’m sorry, Michael, but you’re just going to have to deal with it.” Mrs. Wheeler finishes as she slips her heel into a pair of pumps.
“Dad, you can’t be serious?” Mike asks incredulously. My presence, standing like a statue in the middle of their house, seemed uncomfortable. I wanted to vanish from the throws of this disagreement between parents and child.
Mr. Wheeler was a very monotone man. Without much of a glance at his son, he said, “Listen to your mother.” He slipped on his coat, patted Michael’s head and followed his wife out with a definitive shut of the door.
Mike groaned loudly and he was obviously aggravated.
I drop my things beside the door and decide to check on Holly while I let Mike simmer down. She smiles at me, not finding me too intrusive, and continues to play with her dollies. Mrs. Wheeler said she ordered pizza and left the money on the counter.
Mike stands in the doorway, eyeing me wearily. “So... what kind of campaign are you having?” I ask, trying to break my way past his defense. He looks unimpressed with my efforts but answers anyway.
“It’s for D&D. I’ve been working on it for weeks and everything has to be perfect-” He’s getting antsy about it and I can tell that he’s afraid it’ll be disappointing.
“Dungeons and Dragons...Got it. It’ll be perfect, I’m sure. How about you go on down and set up? I’ll bring the pizza when it arrives.” Mike furrows his brows at me. “Listen, I get it. You’re too old for a babysitter. I’ll respect that, but you gotta cut me some slack. Deal?”
Something shifts and I can sense that I’ve made quite the impression. “Fine, deal.” He agrees. I sigh in relief and he spares no time in going downstairs to prepare. At least I’ll only have to really focus on Holly until her bedtime.
****
A few hours later, Holly was tucked in and knocked out in slumber. The boys downstairs kept to themselves and didn’t budge character even when I came sloping down the stairs with pizza boxes. Though, they did take the liberty of introducing themselves to me briefly.
Now that I had free time, I ventured back down into their lair with the intention to clean up whatever mess they’ve made during their game. Four boys sat around a fold-up table with junk food wrappers and crushed soda cans littering the area around them. All of them looked very high on sugar.
The bottom step creaked underneath my feet and all of their eyes turned up at me. “Don’t stop on my account! I’m just gonna pick up the trash so your parents don’t kill me.” I say, holding up the trash bin I’ve dragged along with me.
Mike shrugs nonchalantly and continues to describe the scene they all just rolled into. I can feel the hesitation to launch into full-blown roll playing while I’m walking in such near proximity. Hurrying my clean up, I try to make as little noise as possible as I crouch over to scoop the evidence of their escapades from sight. There must have been some sort of acceptance of me since they all begin to scream in horror, roaring with accents and acting out their advancements as they roll their dice.
My lips pull up into a smile at their excitement. All of them are out of their seats, focused on the board in front of them as Dustin rolls for dexterity. I don’t see the number in which it landed but the hollers mixed with ‘yes!’s lead me to believe it was exactly what they needed.
Suddenly, the door behind them slams open and Steve Harrington prances through looking stern. “You guy’s said you would be done at nine! I’ve been waiting outside for thirty minutes you shi-”
His eyes land on me as the boys lower themselves into their seats. I can’t imagine the expression I’m wearing. Shock? Confusion? Interest? Either way, I just saw golden-boy-heart-throb Steve freaking Harrington go into full mom mode.
Dustin speaks up, “I’m sorry, Steve. We didn’t know it would take this long! We are almost finished, if you could just-” His words are cut off by Holly’s voice roaming the living room. She must have been woken up by the commotion.
Looking sheepish, I silently excuse myself, though all eyes watch me ascend, to go take care of the disturbed four year old. Holly looks pitiful with a blanket draped over her shoulder and a pout tugging at her lip.
Picking her up, I stroll back up to her room. Her head flops onto my shoulder, still very exhausted and obviously troubled at being stolen from her precious rest. It takes almost no time to get her to settle back into her mattress with a sigh. My fingers brush her golden strands away from her mouth and I see her become heavy as she goes under. I close the door, only leaving it open a crack, behind me. Hopefully it’ll be enough to buffer out the sound of the boys downstairs.
Assuming the boys would have dispersed after the arrival of Steve, I'm quite surprised to see them all continuing their game as if nothing happened. Even more so when I notice they’ve convinced the brown hair senior to participate.
At the grounds of Hawkins High School, I’ve seen Steve around. Rumor has it that he had changed quite a bit from last year, though it’s inconclusive as to why. Steve was a popular. He had girls chasing after him, he was athletic and fell underneath another high school cliche. That’s all that I knew about him.
Yet, here he stands in front of me. Purple pointed hat and matching robes clothe him as a poor excuse for a wizard. He recites some line Mike had written out for him with thinly veiled irritation, though he does put a bit of effort forward to sound mighty.
Will and Lucas join up to strike him down, their combined skills making for an epic conclusion to their campaign. Seeming as if Steve almost gets into it, he falls to his knees, hands grasping his chest as he curses them. With a dramatic cough he falls flat on his back, tongue lolling out of the corner of his mouth- dead.
The boys laugh and I join in, covering my mouth in a weak attempt to hide my amusement. My burst of giggles must contrast very differently because it immediately makes Steve’s eyes open and him hop up, shedding the ridiculous getup. “Nicely done, boys! Mike, your parents should be home soon. Do you need help cleaning up?” I ask.
Lucas waves me off. “Nah, we can put everything away.”
“Thanks.” Will adds.
Together, they start gathering up their things while discussing the events that took place on their way to a victorious game. I’m so focused on the boys that I forget Steve for a moment.
“Hi, I’m Steve. Harrington, that is.” He introduces, holding out his hand for me to take. I accept it, smiling at him. Of course I know who he is, but I won’t point that out. “You’re that new girl that moved here a while back, right?”
Drawing my hand back to my side, I nod. “Yeah, a little over two months ago. I’m Y/n.” Bending at the waist, I gather his wizard robes and playfully extend them toward him. “These are yours, I presume?”
“What? No-no, that-” He stops at my smile, realizing my attempt at banter. “Oh, ha-ha. You try saying no to these kids when they’re hyped up on D&D and sugar!”
I laugh.”I’m sure I’ll have to at some point. That is, if I can keep this as a regular babysitting job.” I toss the robes into a basket setting on the couch. “I assume I’ll be seeing you around here as well. Seems like you’re....” I avoid calling Steve a ‘mom’ to his face, “close with them. I suppose I’ll have to learn from you on how to gain their respect.”
Steve laughs but he doesn’t get a chance to respond. “Stop flirting with the babysitter, Steve. If we’re out late again, we’re toast.” Dustin says, pushing the straps of his backpack over his shoulders. I instantly flush at the words and Steve knocks the kid’s hat down to obstruct his view.
“I’ll see you around, Y/n.” He calls, pushing Will, Dustin and Lucas out the door.
Shaking my head, I sigh lightly. Mike and I are left in the basement, standing in the quiet they left behind. My hand cups the back of my neck in an attempt to cool down the warmed skin there. “Thanks. For tonight, I mean. I guess you aren’t so bad.” Mike says, folding the table up.
I bite my lip to suppress my grin. Perhaps Hawkins won’t be too bad after all.

Teddy shook his head and shoved his phone back in his pocket.
"Everything alright, love?" His mum passed the potatoes to him.
"No, but I'll figure it out." Teddy took the potatoes before passing them to his dad.
"What was on your phone that has you upset?" His dad set down the bowl and then picked up his fork.
Teddy sighed, "Just another rejection email."
Teddy had been done with university for three months now and been applying for jobs for longer. But with no marketing experience, no one was taking a second look at him. He'd hoped to be able to quit the two jobs he'd been working through school by now and just have one job doing what he enjoyed.
His parents shared a long look and Teddy tried to ignore it.
"What if you put the word out that you're looking for something?" His dad asked. "You could send an email to everyone, your grandparents, James and Lily, Sirius and Marlene, Peter and Bridget, and Harry and Ginny know a lot of people too. Maybe reach out, see what anyone can point you towards."
Teddy looked down at his plate. He hated the idea of broadcasting to everyone what Teddy was hoping was just a run of bad luck. These people were his family and here he'd be coming to them showing how he couldn't even handle finding a job on his own.
"It's worth a try dear," his mum put a hand on his arm.
Teddy looked up at his mum, bubblegum pink hair freshly dyed. He realized he probably needed to touch up his hair. But his mum gave his arm a squeeze and Teddy nodded.
"Alright, I'll email them before I leave, let you two read through it and make sure it's good enough."
His mum leaned over and kissed his cheek, quickly catching his glass of water before she knocked it over. "You'll see, someone will have something that can help."

Teddy woke up the next morning to the sound of his roommate's 'morning music' playlist playing and sighed. He liked Kalil a lot, they'd ended up in this flat together when they were in their second year at university, and Teddy couldn't have asked for a better roommate. But did Kalil really have to play a music playlist for everything? Especially at half six in the morning?
Knowing he wouldn't be falling back asleep until he needed to be up at seven, Ted grabbed his phone and started swiping through the random notifications that had come in the night. He paused at a reply to his 'cry for help' email the night before.
It was from Harry.
Teddy opened it, trying not to hope for too much. His godfather had never failed him before, and Ted really didn't want it to start here.
Hey Ted,
Thought I'd let you know that Gin's brother is hiring at his place, and if you're interested, I'll take you there myself and put in the good word for you. Just let me know what works for you. Here's the link.
Take care,
Harry
Harry's response was the only one, and since Ted was up early anyway, he opened the link.
Ginny's brother Ron was hiring a new salesman, which isn't what Ted was hoping for. His degree was in marketing, not sales, and he didn't like tracking down customers, let alone schmoozing them into buying...industrial kitchen equipment apparently.
Ted closed the listing page and decided he might as well get an early start on his day.
However, Teddy's early start might have been a mistake. While stocking at his first job, one of the pallets he was moving bumped into a pallet stocked with glass bottles of imported maple syrup and broke at least a quarter of them. The cost would be coming out of his next paycheck, which meant most of his paycheck was gone. And he had to spend the majority of his shift cleaning up that mess.
From there he went to his servers' job and spent the night having every grumpy and unhappy person in England show up to simply sit and tell him what a horrible server he was. Ted made it home and collapsed on the sofa next to Kalil.
"Rough day then?" Kalil typed on his laptop.
"Brilliant," Ted huffed, "And yours?"
Kalil grinned over at him. "Got called for a second interview."
"That's fantastic," Ted forced himself to smile, "Really, mate, I'm happy for you."
"You'll get something, Lupin." Kalil shoved his shoulder, "Don't stress it."
Teddy willed his smile to stay in place and nodded. "Thanks, I'm going to go shower, stop smelling like low-grade Italian food."
Kalil nodded him on and went back to his computer. Ted moved to his room and pulled his phone out of his pocket. There was a text from his mum.
Mum: Did anyone respond to your email?
Teddy tossed his phone on his unmade bed. Was he being too picky? Wouldn't any job closer to marketing be an improvement over two jobs that he hated? At least a sales position would give him the "experience" that all these marketing positions he was applying for wanted. The worst that could happen is that he went from two lower-paying jobs that he dreaded to one job that paid a little more and maybe gave him some freedom to do something more than work day in and day out. Maybe he'd have time for a dating life.
Ted fell on his bed and grabbed his phone, opening the email from Harry.
What could it hurt?
Hey Harry,
Thx for getting back to me. Do you think tomorrow at half two would work? I get out of the warehouse at 2.
Ted
He texted his mum back that Harry was going to try and help him, and then he went to shower. When he got back to his room, now smelling less awful, he had a text from Harry.
Harry: I've confirmed with Ron. We're set for tomorrow at 2:30.
Teddy clicked on the address that Harry sent with his response and figured out how he wanted to get there from the warehouse. It would be close, but he'd probably make it in time.
Ted: Should I bring a resume or anything?
Teddy hit send and looked over at his cheap printer. He probably had enough ink in his printer to print one more, maybe.
Harry: Nah, just throw a copy on your phone so you can email it to him if he asks to see it.
Teddy looked over the copy he already had on his phone and decided it would have to be enough. He was exhausted and now he had a job interview tomorrow. He plugged in his phone and climbed into bed, Kalil's "chill playlist" playing quietly down the hall.
0o0o0o0o0o0
He didn't bring clothes to change into. Ted had meant to. He'd set them out so he'd remember. But Ted woke up late, and in his rush to make it to work on time, he'd forgotten to grab his button-up shirt and slacks and loafers. He'd be having this interview in his warehouse jumpsuit.
Brilliant.
"Ted!"
Teddy turned to find Harry waving him over to an open door.
"Hey, Harry," Ted smiled and embraced his godfather. "How are the kids?"
"Jamie and Al are causing trouble, and Lily gets a good laugh out of it all, so they're about the same."
Teddy grinned. "If I can get a job that doesn't require me working the dinner shift, I'll have to take them out for ice cream or something."
Harry opened the door wider and gestured Ted inside, "Let's see if we can't rid you of that dinner shift."
Teddy swallowed and stepped inside in the office building.
He'd met Ron a few times before. He knew that Ron had been at Harry and Ginny's wedding, but that was a long time ago and Ted had been four, or maybe he was five, he didn't remember. And Ron and his family had been at a few of the parties the Potters had hosted. But Teddy had never actually interacted with Ron more than to smile and say hello.
Now Teddy wished he'd taken more interest in his godmother's brother.
Ron stepped out of one of the offices and held out his hand.
"Ted! It's great to see you. I understand we might be able to help each other."
Ted smiled and shook his hand. "I'd like to hope so."
Harry clasped Ted on the shoulder. "Ted's looking to broaden his horizons."
"Come on in," Ron ushered them in.
Ted stepped in and took a look around. It was a small office, there wasn't a reception area, just two desks set up that faced the only, rather large, window, what looked like a supply closet on one end, and a bathroom on the other. There was also a small sink next to a fridge in the far-left corner, where a microwave sat on a card table and two folding chairs were tucked neatly against it.
Maybe this job wouldn't pay more than his current jobs…
"We're a small operation," Ron pulled a desk chair over to the card table and gestured to him and Harry to sit down in the folding chairs. "I don't know if you remember, Ted, but I own Bread & Butter, the cafe and bakery chain."
Ted nodded Ron on, but he honestly didn't remember that at all.
"And I realized a couple of years ago that a lot of the machines I was buying for our locations were expensive and subpar. So, I started looking for something better, and I finally worked with one of my favorite manufacturers to come up with something that worked the way I wanted it to. We saw an immediate improvement in our products at Bread & Butter and I arranged with the manufacturer to sell what we'd developed as the Bread & Butter line of industrial kitchen equipment."
"How is that going?" Teddy looked around again and Ron chuckled.
"It's going well, but it could be going better. I've been our main salesman, but I'm swamped with the bakery itself and coming up with new menu items and honestly, I'm not cut out for sales. I'm too attached to our line, and I need someone who can step in and take over sales. This little operation is simply a department of Bread & Butter but I've rented out this office space for it because we don't have space for it at the main bakery offices."
Teddy's mind started working very fast. "So, if I did well for you, there could be an opportunity to do more with Bread & Butter?"
"You mean like transfer to the marketing department?" Ron grinned, "Harry mentioned your degree is in marketing, but yes, I think that if I needed to expand or replace someone in marketing, I'd be more willing to move you over to the main building than hire someone new."
Teddy grinned back, "Alright, Ron, I think I'm interested.
The interview became a job training on the spot and Ted was almost ready to skive-off his dinner shift in exchange for spending more time working with Ron, but he needed to give his notice and he really should leave those jobs on good terms; they'd supported him through his years at university after all.
Ron clicked a few things on his phone as they finished up. "So, you'll be ready to start in one week then?"
Ted nodded, "Yeah, I'm only required to give the minimum with both of these jobs."
"Think you could stop by the main office in between your shifts this week and fill out the hiring forms?"
Teddy pulled out his phone to see his shift schedules. "Sure thing, boss."
"Great, I'll let you get to your dinner shift. And I'll let my niece know she can expect to have you here next week as well; she's off at a dental appointment this afternoon or you'd have met her today. She handles our website and coordinates deliveries." Ron stood up and shook Teddy's hand. "I'm looking forward to passing this all off to you."
Teddy laughed, "I'm looking forward to having just one job."
Harry followed him out of the building and hugged him. "Are you happy about this?"
"You know, I am," Ted felt a smile on his face. "This feels like the first step forward, you know? Thank you for setting this up for me. I keep forgetting that you never steer me wrong."
"You can take the kids out for ice cream or something to show your gratitude," Harry razzed him. "They miss you."
"The first paycheck I get from Ron will go to taking them out for some fun," Teddy promised.
"Good, now go serve people bad Italian food."
The dinner rush was intense, but after giving his notice, Teddy wasn't bothered by it in the slightest. There was finally a light at the end of the tunnel.
0o0o0o0o0o0
Teddy slung his backpack over his shoulder and stepped into the office building, his new job, maybe a career, lay just down the corridor.
He stood a little straighter and walked down to the door, inserting his key to unlock it, only to have it push open to the most gorgeous woman he'd ever seen. She had blonde hair pinned up off her shoulders, revealing her porcelain skin along her neck and face. Ted thought he was floored at her profile, but then she turned to smile at him and her blue eyes froze him in place; he forgot how to breathe.
"Hi, you must be Ted, I'm Vic. I guess we're sharing the office now."
Ted blinked. He couldn't seem to get his brain to function.
"Er, right, yeah, I'm Ted." He almost grimaced at his response. "It's nice to meet you."
"I got here early to clear up Uncle Ron's desk for you. He left a bunch of things that he thought you'd need but I promise you won't." She closed a word document before standing up and offering her hand.
Teddy remembered how to human and moved into the office, sliding his keys back into his pocket, and shook Vic's hand. Her skin was amazingly soft and Ted immediately wanted to pull her back when she released this hand.
"I like the color." She smiled up at him.
"The color…?" Ted blinked.
Vic laughed, "Your hair, I like the turquoise."
Teddy felt like an idiot. "Oh! Right, er, thanks, my mum has hers pink."
Could he be any lamer right now?
"Wow! My mum would never dye her hair, and she'd probably have a heart attack if I dyed mine." Vic laughed and sat down at her desk.
Teddy followed suit, realizing that he had no idea what to do.
"Uncle Ron is supposed to be here at half eight to help get you set up, then you'll spend the day handing off all our customers, and get back here hopefully in time to clock out at five."
"Do we have a time clock?" Teddy looked around. He'd had to stamp in and out at both his warehouse job and his server job, but he hadn't expected it here.
Vic laughed at him, "You're joking right?"
Ted hoped he wasn't blushing and tried to own it.
"Oh no, I expect an establishment as posh as this one to give me an antique time stamp machine for me to put my time card into every day before having me descend into the coal mines of selling industrial kitchen mixers."
Vic laughed before grabbing a piece of paper from her desk drawer and a black marker.
"Antique Posh Time Stamp Machine," she said as she wrote it out on the paper. "There," she held it up for him. "Where would you like it to be?"
Teddy grinned; this was going to be the best job in the world.
"Oh, it can only be at the far end of the office. It has to be as far away from where the actual work gets done as possible or it isn't posh at all."
Vic snagged a few thumbtacks from her drawer and moved to where the supply closet was in the back corner before pinning the sign up on the wall next to the door.
"How's that?"
Ted smiled. "It's perfect."
Vic smiled and looked down at her hands for a moment before moving back to her desk.
"Ted!"
Teddy turned to see Ron walking into the office.
"Morning, boss," Ted tried to ignore the part of him that resented Ron for barging in on what felt like something special between him and Vic. He'd known the woman for less than five minutes. He had to get a grip.
"Hi, Uncle Ron, I thought you weren't going to be here for another half-hour or so."
"I had my first meeting rescheduled, so I'm here to get a head start with Ted. Vicky, Ted is Harry's godson, you might have met at one of their parties."
"You know Harry?" Teddy turned to look at Vic.
She tucked a lock of hair behind her ear. "Yeah, my dad is Aunt Ginny's oldest brother."
Ted blinked, she looked nothing like a Weasley. When Ron had said that his niece worked here, and then when Ted saw her, he assumed she must be a niece in the same way James, Sirius, and Peter were his Uncles.
"Well now that we know how we're all connected, Ted, I've got most of my clients ready to meet with us so I can pass them off to you this morning. Ready to go?" Ron spun his keys around his fingers.
Teddy looked back at Vic for a brief moment before nodding to Ron, "Let's get this show on the road."
Getting the clients handed off took the majority of the day, but Teddy loved it. Ron made a point of also taking Ted to the main office and introducing him to the teams there. Ted had learned about networking in several classes, but Ron showed him how it was really done. Everyone loved Ron, and Teddy honestly believed that Ron cared about everyone he introduced him to.
With how well the day had gone, as he walked back into his office building with Ron, Ted couldn't wait to see Vic again.
That is until Ron opened the door.
Vic was kissing another man.
"Vicky," Ron sighed, "please remember this is an office. I know you enjoy having Sean come pick you up, but HR would throw a fit if they knew you were snogging him on the clock."
Victoire blushed furiously and the man that stood next to her grinned. His black hair was cut short and he had his sunglasses on backward.
"Don't worry, Ron, I'm not scared of HR."
Ron raised an eyebrow at the man, "You should be, they can make me fire her."
Sean turned back to Vic, "I'll wait in the car."
He winked at Ron and Ted as he left.
Ted hated Sean.
"I'm sorry, Uncle Ron. I know we shouldn't have been kissing in here. He came to surprise me and I'd mentioned you were out showing Ted around and he took that to mean the rules were off." She trailed off and bit her lip.
"Vicky, I love you" Ron sighed, "but just, think about what your parents would say if you lost your job because of Sean."
Ted moved to his desk, not trusting himself to speak. Ron seemed to take the excuse to move on to a different topic when Ted powered on his laptop.
"I've emailed you the leads I was working on before I hired you, Ted."
"Oh, excellent," Ted nodded as he followed the log-in instructions IT had left him with his laptop and dock set up. "I'll start on them tomorrow then."
"Perfect, and if you ever need anything, just give me a call. I'm not here at the office with you, but I'm always here if you need my help with any of this. I'm looking forward to growing this division and I'd love to see you pioneer it."
Ted smiled at Ron and he leaned back in his desk chair. "Thanks, Ron, I hope I can do you proud here."
"I'm sure you will." Ron grinned at him before looking behind him at Vic. He sighed and motioned towards the door. "Victoire, can I talk to you out in the hall?"
Victoire nodded and began to follow Ron to the door. She paused before turning back around. She closed a word document on her computer and shut it down before grabbing her purse. She gave Ted a small smile.
"I'll see you tomorrow then."
"Right, tomorrow," her smile seemed to pull a smile out of him.
"Right," she bit her lip and then turned around to follow after Ron.
Teddy let out a long breath as the door closed behind Vic.
He was so screwed.

Gina and the Merfolk 2: Identity Crisis
With Gina still in her cast, school and life have gotten hard. But will an encounter with a Michigreen merfolk make things harder for her?
I’m so sorry I’m late to posting this! Work + anxiety + hypchondria delayed the release of this a little bit. but I hope you guys like it!
Wordcount: 2,017
Gina’s arm was still in a sling. She was still ‘sleeping’ flat on her back, her arm laid out next to her. She was still getting questions at school from people she didn’t really know about what happened, and still getting odd looks when she explained;
“They had to take a bit of my bone out, and since I’m not old, they took it from my arm instead of my back.”
Gina thought it was just plain unfair. So what if she would’ve had a severe panic attack and possibly chocked on her own spit if they took from her back? At least her ARM would’ve worked! She would’ve had a litany of other issues, but she still would’ve been able to climb trees. Maybe.
With all this added stress, Gina found herself particularly angry walking home from school that day. The long walk usually brought her some sort of contemplative, relaxing time alone. Just her, the dirt path, and the trees that lined it. But this time, Gina wasn’t having ANY contemplative thoughts. No feelings of relaxation. She just found herself getting angrier as she walked, every time her slack arm hit her ribs, every time she replayed every conversation in her mind. Gina had never cared what others thought of her, why did it all of the sudden matter now? Why was every look critical? Why was every word negative?
Why did every laugh in the background have to be about her?
Gina ignored the tears welling as she went into the forested shortcut, an old path to a coast guard hut that cut the journey short. Her tears were getting her glasses wet, her face warm, her head light, as she just barreled through the forest. She wasn’t even bothering to look where she was going, she was trying to push every one of her thoughts out of her mind. But everything just kept spinning and twisting, getting louder and louder as she pressed further and further into the path.
Eventually, her mind won out over her body, and she forced herself to sit near a little stream. She threw herself down onto the bank and just cried in frustration, ignoring the water bottle that slipped out of her backpack and hit her on her bad arm, sending a ripple of pain through her. THAT clearly didn’t help.
“Ugh, would you STOP IT?!” She screamed, still crying, screaming at a lot all at once; her arm, her brain, her water bottle, just kicking the earth. She grabbed the bottle and just tossed it into the other bank of the stream. She’d deal with it later, maybe when she was done with her crying. She wouldn’t be done for a while.
It wasn’t cathartic. It didn’t help her deal with anything. The fact that she was letting herself cry only dug her shame deeper and deeper into the ground. She wasn’t going to feel particularly good after this. Even after talking to herself.
“I just want control…” She said, through heavy, labored breaths, “I just wanna be in control of myself, is that a crime now? I have to have some disease that just tells me how to think?” She tucked her knees to her chest, and buried her head in them. She heard the rustling in the water, coming against the stream. She didn’t care.
But then she heard something that got her attention.
“Lindan reck! Lindan reck!!”
Gina looked up, wiping her glasses clean with her shirtsleeve, and blinking away some extra tears. And on the other end of the bank, she saw a Michigreen merfolk. Looked to be an adolescent, but it was definitely a Michigreen; green skin, short, greenish hair, striations on the back. The Yellow eyes told her this was a juvenile.
“Lindan...reck?” Gina whispered to herself. Merfolk all had strange dialects, and though she knew a bit of common inland, that’s about it. She didn’t know much Michigreen. But she could put it together. Lindan sounded like ‘land one’, the term they used for humans and their pets. And ‘reck’ probably just meant ‘rock’. Why would an adolescent Michigreen be talking about a person’s rock-
THE WATER BOTTLE. It was metal, but the muted colors looked like stone on the bank. GINA had just THROWN it like she didn’t need it. And it was now closer to the Michigreen than to Gina. Meaning the Michigreen would beat her to it if it wanted it.
And it looked like it did.
“HEY!” Gina called, finding the little footbridge and running across to the other side of the stream, “That’s mine, you can’t have it-oof!” She tripped as she fell down the bank, loosing her footing and almost landing in the water. By then, the Michigreen had it in its hands, and was swimming back up stream. Gina watched as the dull green bottle made its way further up stream. And then she took off her backpack. “Not on my watch, you little bastard.”
Gina was lucky this one was a juvenile. It could go fast in that stream, but it was only the length of her forearm. She could catch up with it, but the problem would be getting it. She was still in a cast, and couldn’t get that wet. She’d have to wait for the Michigreen to jump from the water.
The stream got deeper and wider as it wound along the forest floor. The Michigreen was slowing down now, as the current pushed stronger against it. Gina could see that it was having a hard time carrying a water bottle that was about its size. And the thing kept getting slower, to the point where Gina didn’t even have to run to keep up with it. “Come on,” She said, “Come on up...the air is fine…”
A noise was growing in the distance. It sounded like rushing water of some sort. Gina ignored it as she kept her eye on the floating bottle. Though, at this point, it was less a chase and more a leisurely stroll. She might even have started singing if she weren’t so mad.
The stream got deeper, and the current faster, to the point where Gina almost didn’t believe what she was seeing.
“I’ve never even seen this thing before, is it like...some kind of river or something?” She asked herself, “And what’s that noise? Sounds like a-”
She was cut off when she saw it, letting out a light gasp.
Rapids. Leading up to what must have been a pool under a waterfall. Of course, of course! A Michigreen pond! They would often set up under waterfalls, it kept the water circulating, which’d protect their egg clutches from predators.
“And MUST be where this little guy lives-OPE!” Gina scrambled up the rapids as she saw the little Michigreen beginning to jump, hoping it’d jump close to the bank. “Come on, buddy, I just wanna talk.” She said, gritting her teeth. She positioned herself near the top of the rapids, and waited. She blinked, looking out and slitting her eyes as it got closer, and closer…
The Michigreen made a mistake. It jumped too close to the bank, and Gina was able to nab the bottle midair, the Michigreen still hanging onto it.
“HA! Gotcha!” Gina set the bottle down, and the Michigreen began to hiss, bearing its (somewhat adorable) sharp teeth. Gina was mad at the little thing, but she wasn’t about to kill it or let it die. She laced the bottle between her knees, and used her good hand to gently tug the Michigreen off of the bottle by its tail, before bringing it up to her face to get a better look.
“Huh...you’re oddly fascinated by that bottle, huh?” She asked, before slowly and gently setting the Michigreen down into the water.
“Well, you can’t go around taking other people’s things, y’know! You gotta be more careful, or you might wind up in a situation you’re not...prepared...for…”
There must have been at least 40 Michigreen merfolk, adults, juveniles, and guppies, staring Gina down with their greenish black eyes. Greenish-black. Adults.
And there were way more of those.
Gina had stumbled into a nest of incredibly angry looking merfolk.
And just manhandled one of their young, right in front of them.
“...Um...Hi…”
They all stared at Gina. Just...looking straight at her. Not making to attack, not preparing to gore her or feast on her, just looking at her. Intently. Intense, judging stares.
Judging Stares.
“I can’t even get away from it HERE!?” Gina huffed and kicked the bank of the flowing pond, sitting down on the grass once more.
“ALL I want is to just LIVE, is that so much? I just wanna be able to sit out here and be angry and throw something without some merfolk coming and stealing it, or without some doctor saying I’m not a person, or without some loser thinking I’m WEIRD for once! The woods aren’t MINE, I get it!” She threw her hand down, a weak, sad smile on her face, “But I come out here and I hope that I can at least BE, without getting ‘pranked’ or stared at like I’m some kind of FREAK!” She didn’t even notice she was crying, at this point, the smile still on her face.
“And now I don’t even get that!? I’m not human enough to be with humans, and I’m not animal enough to be out HERE clearly, so what AM I?! WHERE am I supposed to even GO?!” She threw the bottle back down into the bank, so hard it sank into the wet sand. She buried her head in her knees again, and cried just as hard as before. She didn’t have control over this, either, it seemed.
Gina heard some rustling in the water, coming near her. When she looked up, it was the adolescent from earlier.
“Ugh, just...keep it.” She said, kicking the bottle to it, “I can get another one, it doesn’t matter.”
The merfolk recoiled, swimming back away from Gina. It seemed to go back to its mother, still staring Gina down.
With a heavy sigh, Gina took the water bottle, and made the long walk back to her backpack, shooing away a chipmunk that was trying to get into it. She hoisted the back onto her good shoulder and slipped the bottle back into its sleeve. And she walked home, taking the shortcut past the coast guard hut, trying to come up with a lie she could tell to explain her tears.
“I’ll say I landed on my cast funny.” Gina said. She’d never lied to her dad before, it just wasn’t her nature. But she didn’t want to go through it with him. She just couldn’t bring herself to dump all that weight on someone else. It’d just be unfair to make someone else deal with it.
It’d be unfair to unload on someone.
_____
Gina laid in her bed, staring at the ceiling. It was 1 am. Again. 10 more hours and it’d be 4 days since she got the cast. It wasn’t supposed to come off for another four WEEKS. Gina looked up, her throat dry, her breathing shallow, looking at the stars through the window in the wall.
“...I know you can’t hear me, mom.” She said to herself. “And I know I should be taking this to dad. Since he’s the one who can help me.” She rubbed her eyes.
“But I just don’t know who I belong to. WHAT I belong to. I’m not even sure if I should BE here right now, or ever. I’m worried. So...so if you could just give a sign that you can hear me somehow, I really just want to know.”
Gina looked deep into the black sky full of stars.
Nothing.
“I don’t even believe in god...ugh, this is stupid.” Gina threw herself face first down onto the pillow. “This whole thing is stupid.”
Gina finally got to sleep. She wasn’t woken up by the fan. Or the wind.
Or, the strange, gentle call of a deer. Ringing through the woods.

So, I don’t know why, but I just feel overwhelmingly sad sometimes. It will just hit me out of nowhere, like someone punching me in the stomach. It’s been especially hard lately, because one of my parents passed away from a drug overdose, and he had been a long-suffering addict. I always felt like my parents would eventually end up together again, because even through all their differences and fights, they’d still meet up in secret and stuff, and talk on the phone. I just feel so bad for my Mom, because I know she is heartbroken over this loss. I cry for myself, but I cry for her a lot too, and I just wish I could touch each family member and just take away their pain and sadness, but I can’t and it kills me. I’m just so sad too, because now there is no chance for reconciliation with him, and he’s gone and he’s not coming back. I dreamt about him at first, but I haven’t had anymore dreams about him and I wish I could. The last one I had he looked healthier, like he was somehow clean, and we hugged and there was a big flash of light and he was gone. I’m going to a therapist, but it’s just so hard. I have been on autopilot for the last couple of months, and I’ve been fighting really hard to wake myself up, but it’s so hard and there’s just days where I just wanna die, or not do anything.
It sounds like you’ve gone through a really traumatic experience on top of a difficult relationship with your parent.  I would be surprised if you weren’t sad sometimes.  Grieving is a process, and it can take a long time to fully heal from the loss of a loved one, especially when your relationship to that loved one was complicated.  It’s even harder when you’re trying to support someone else who’s also grieving, and orders of magnitude more difficult when you’re coping with this on top of the stress of the current state of the world.  It’s okay to cut yourself some slack.  Take things slowly if you need to- the world will still be here when you feel better.  You don’t need to feel better right away.  What you’re going through is normal and means that you’re processing your feelings, which is healthy even though it’s painful right now.  Seeing a therapist is definitely a good idea.  They can help you work through your feelings and to come to terms with your loss.  If you haven’t tried this already, it may help to write your parent a letter saying everything you wish you could have told him when he was alive.  Let out all of the feelings you have, and then burn the letter.  Doing that may help you feel some sense of closure.
