Knowing Me (1/1) (jegulus)

James ran when Sirius called. Always, that was who he was. That was who he was and who Sirius had needed. But what Sirius needed now from James, was for James to be himself for Regulus.

Sirius had found Regulus, staring at a wall, stuck in his head. Barty had said apparently he had been like that for hours. Regulus hadn’t missed classes but Evan explained that when he did attend he just was a robot through the motions all week. But it seemed like tonight he completely shut down.

When Sirius went Regulus started to cry. He wouldn’t say anything except, “can you get James? Please?” Sirius knew James and Regulus had become close since Regulus moved into the Potter’s, but Sirius didn’t realize there may be things that James could help with that Sirius couldn’t. Regardless, if Regulus asked, Sirius made it happen.

James arrived and Regulus fell into his arms. Everyone else cleared the room, because Regulus didn’t settle, in fact his tears turned into sobs. James held Regulus tight. Muttering reassurances into his ear without prompt, “Its okay love, I’ve got you. Whatever this is, you don’t have to do it alone.”

Finally Regulus slurred out: “I just don’t even know who I am anymore.” Burying his head further into the crook of James’ neck.

James didn’t really know what to say or where this thought came from in Regulus. For Regulus touch always communicated more in these moments, so James just kept holding him tight.

“I don’t know what of me makes sense, what of me is me, and what of me is others. My thoughts, my feelings, my choices… who do they even belong to?” Regulus cried, and James’ stomach dropped. He could feel the hurt, the pain, the utter desperation in Regulus’ questions.

James knew the journey of self Regulus was going on, trying to figure out who he is and wants to be. This emptying of himself though, this splitting of who he was and who he might be was just raw.

“You are Regulus, my Regulus” is all James could offer back. Whispered and soft.

Regulus shook his head, but didn’t reply. But he held James tighter, so James just held him back. They would figure it out, together, one step at a time. But for now Regulus just needed to be protected, and James warmed him while he did just that.

Apparently much-needed reminder that reposting artists' art (by saving the images or screenshotting them and reuploading them yourself) on other platforms without the artists' expressed permission and without credit is theft and an insult to their passion and craft. You are profiting (in views, in attention, in feedback) from someone else's work and ideas, who do not get that feedback for sharing their creation.

If you are an art reposter, you are a thief and I have no respect for you.
