Thinking about priest Jason Todd and realizing that would be really fucking funny if he was just this die hard catholic.
Damian, invading his safe house again messing around like a little shit: What do you keep in this drawer? Tt- It's probably a knife.
Jason: My Bible.
Damian:
Damian: Your what?
Jason, deadpanned: My Bible.

Dick: I know I will regret this
Dick: What's up with the altar candle's in front of Virgin Mary?
Jason: I pray for each soul I take.
Dick: I'm sorry– you what?
Jason: Each sould I take. When I kill people. So they find their way into purgatory. How do you think they are getting in hell? I light the candle, I pray for them *Looking at the candles* Your welcome.

In the middle of a shooting with almost a hundred henchmen
Jason, whispering: If we get out of here alive I'll walk the entirety of Gotham's church stairs on my knees.
The signal, next to him: Because that definitely won't be nothing disturbing. Early mourning fuckin Redhood, walking on his knees to a church. You usual Sunday in Gotham city.
Jason: Shut up asshole I'm praying.

Batman, inside of a church at nine pm doing an investigation: What are you doing here?
Jason lifting his head up from the church pew, holding his hands: The fuck look like I'm doing?
Maybe I've just missed it, but I feel like there's not enough discussion on Catholic Jason Todd and his feelings on being seemingly resurrected by God Jeesie-Chreesie style.
Like, we as the readers know that it was a reality bending punch from Superboy Prime that brought Jason back, but in canon no one has any explanation at all for how that happened.
The Lazarus Pit fixed him, but he was already alive (just in super bad shape) to be fixed. He woke up in his own coffin and had to claw out of his own grave and no one in-universe can explain how or why it happened.
And that alone would fuck someone up, but add in Catholic Guilt (TM) and references to the resurrection floating around every Easter and Jason's gotta wonder at least a little bit if the Big G brought him back and if so has to absolutely agonize over what he's done with his big second chance.
I just wanna read 100k words of Jason's complicated feelings on his death, rebirth (resurrection?), Red Hood, God, Bruce and what it all means, if anyone's got any recs please share them I'm begging 😭
Something about how Jason Todd’s core character trait is how he lost faith. He lost faith in Shiela, in Bruce, in the entire concept that someone else can care about him and actually have his best interests at heart.
Something about how Catholic priest Flashpoint Jason Todd is someone who has such intense faith, who trust so heavily in someone basically unprovable. Something about how without Bruce, without being Robin, it was his faith that was his core character trait.
Something about how being Robin and the life he was led into changed him in such a tragic and deep seeded way. I don’t know
jason doesn’t feel guilty for the murders he committed!!! he can’t feel catholic guilt or want repentance or atonement for something he doesn’t feel guilt about! and there are dozens of religions we could explore jason in that would be so much more fun than catholicism or any type of christianity
Father Todd smokes behind the chapel and gets into yelling arguments with the deacons and priests about theology. He has strong opinions about the council of Trent. He doesn't give a shit about the graffiti on the side of the church buildings, but he really wishes people would stop stomping around his flower garden to do it. He is much loved by his parish, and a great comfort to people in crime alley. He once put a screw driver through two-face's tire for parking in the disabled spot outside the church. He still has Catherine's rosary beads, but he can’t bring himself to use them. He remembers being dead but he tells everyone he doesn't. He ran out of communion wafers one Sunday morning and improvised with rice crackers and the Bishop will never let him forget it.
We don’t acknowledge it enough that Jason canonically went to heaven after he died. I don’t care if it was retconned or whatever he was in heaven. We also don’t talk about how Green Arrow was the one who saw him there.
I just really need a story where the JL and Gotham heroes are fighting off some demonic threat and at some point a demon comes before a battle to give a “You’ll fail and the world will end” speech and refers to Jason by some angelic title before vanishing.
And everyone is going “?!?!?!”, including Jason bc he doesn’t have memories of the afterlife and the Oliver “Bitchass” Queen goes “yeah that tracks” and every one turns to him like “wtf Green Arrow!?” And he goes “yeah I saw him in heaven while he was dead” all casual-like ignoring that he has just given most of the JL a major shock and Jason and existential and moral crisis (a quiet, stupid part of him mourns that he can’t make the “I’ve been to hell” anymore bc he apparently went to heaven!? What!?)
