Incredibly Healthy Habits For Students
The most commonplace advice on good habits for students. This crucial component of a healthy relationship is not to be overlooked.
1. Don’t over-stuff your backpack.
Unless a professor tells the class to bring a textbook – keep that thing at home/in your dorm. Also, try not to carry too much with you anyway. At most I have a spiral or two, my computer. It’s not only unnecessary, but it’s heavy. It wears you down over time just adding stress and annoyance that you don’t need.
2. Work out every week.
Finding time to run a mile or two, play some basketball, or lift weights is important. It was a huge stress reliever for me and it also made me happier.
3. Stop Putting Things Off.
You know you should be finishing homework instead of going out every night. The crazy thing is, we ALL KNOW what we should be doing. But a lot of us still don’t get anything done. I’m in awe of the number of times I have put off studying or reading. However, every time I come to the simple conclusion that getting it done in the beginning is waaaaaay easier than trying to finish the task later.
4. Socialize.
Involvement in college is a spectrum. One extreme includes hobbits who stay in their dorm or apartment all day and the other includes social butterflies who are out on the town every night having fun with friends. Your goal is to find a happy medium. You don’t want to be closed off but you also want to interact with people every once in a while.
For me, this was the hardest part. I do not like to make acquaintances, but for myself I decided that it would be useful. I stepped out of my comfort zone.
5. Eat Healthier.
This is the most predictable advice I can give you. What you put in your body matters.
6. Drink more water.
Drinking water is one of the most essential healthy habits for students.
7. Know When To Say NO.
If you get your work done first, you will have time to have fun without any grief or regrets.
The most important relationship you make in your life is with yourself. It’s genuinely all a mind game. You have to learn to trust yourself by putting yourself first so that you can enjoy what life has to offer you. Having fun with this grey cloud of regret and worry about work you haven’t finished is just not fun at all. So have fun and be yourself but learn when to say NO. You’ll be forever grateful you did in the long run.
8. Give Yourself Grace.
One of the biggest downfalls for me was stressing out. Stressing over school work, time management, boys, networking, and the list goes on. It’s important to shut all the negative voices out.
There’s only one you so treat yourself with respect. If there are things you need to fix, make a plan and make it happen. If that fails, adjust the plan. No one is perfect and I wish we would collectively tell ourselves it’s going to be ok. Because it will be!

implementing the time blocking technique worked well today esp since i scheduled my study sessions when my energy levels were higher.

delayed gratification is lovely. knowing i did my best and can now rest/indulge is so rewarding.
clean, intentional spaces serve me well.
thinking about how erikson’s developmental psych says that love is a virtue to be learned through intimacy in your 20s. i’m really grateful for my relationships.

Back this week from spending the mid-trimester break in Queensland, visiting my family with my fiancé.
I so hoped that this lethargy and distinct lack of motivation towards my studies would disappear when I returned. Maybe it's second-year blues, or maybe it's a lack of a vision for the future of where this degree could take me. Whatever the reason though, I can only keep pushing forward and taking one day at a time.

Starting to fall into a bit of a rhythm now, which is really great. I'm so proud of myself! Getting up at 8 in the morning no matter what has been so great for me. Even if I was up all night and I am shattered, it's one of my new non-negotiable morning habits. I make myself a cup of tea and even if I go back to bed, at least I gave myself the chance to start the day at a reasonable time! 💕
I keep tackling basic, but very anxiety-inducing things in life (like doctor's appointments, ugh) and with each one, I prove myself I am capable. Been really good this week especially at not getting discouraged by setbacks (like not going to lectures, rotting in bed all day or staying up until 6am). I really need to get on my sleep-schedule next, but I am trying not to overwhelm myself, so we're being gentle about it.
I need to get in my sleep until I can anyway, because assignment deadlines for this semester are coming up, and I am also going back to work in less than a month. Goodbye off-season, you were good while you lasted 💔 I do miss flying though (and getting paid asdffghh) even if I've been super anxious about going back to work. New roster is out though and the crew on my first flight back is fab, which is a great relief! ✈️
I'm still not as caught up on uni work as I'd like to be - and I really desperately need to email some people about uncompleted work from the previous semester 😬 - but we are slowly getting there. Yay!
Little treats after completing tasks is the way to go! I forgot how much I love the rocky road slices they have at all the different cafés around uni 🍫 Plus, been reading Abigail Roux & Madeleine Urban's Cut and Run series again for the hundredth time, and it's making me very nostalgic. I first read the books when I was 16, and today, reading a rather steamy scene in the uni library, brought back a very vivid memory of me reading probably the exact same scene on a school library computer while I should have been working on history coursework. 😅 That was 10 years ago! Insane. Anyway, I always always come back to these books. The rubbish ebook formatting can be very frustrating, and the storytelling is somewhat chaotic occasionally, especially in the first book, but, god, I adore Ty and Zane so much. Bisexual FBI agents enemies-to-soulmates wholesomeness is exactly what I need in my life right now. 🩷💜💙

10 Reasons Why Studying is Hard
1 . You don’t know WHY
You don’t know why you have to study. You don’t know your true purpose.
Let me inform you: You have to study because this is the stage in life where you create a foundation of all the basic knowledge you need and learn all sorts of things.
In the next stage, you get to choose what career path you want to take. That is why you should think about your “WHY”.
I am studying because I want to study every day and be prepared for my exams.
2 . You don’t know HOW to study
If you are like my brother, then you don’t know how to study.
Somehow, when we join high school, nobody really teaches us how to study.
Studying involves using different tactics to understand and remember things for the future, or for exams.
You need to learn to memorize.
This is how I memorize things for my exams:
I condense my notes into a few tiny words (summarizing)
I memorize these little words by:
Writing them over and over again
Closing my eyes and remembering them
Testing myself by writing the words again
3 . You are not studying at the right time
Are you a morning person or a night person?
Do you feel energized at 10 am or 10 pm?
These are questions you need to ask yourself to learn why studying is hard for you.
You need the answers to these questions in order to actually study.
4 . You don’t study every day
Alright, you don’t have to study every day.
But that doesn’t mean you only study at 1 am the night before the exam!
That is not smart at all. How are you supposed to teach yourself 3 months-worth of work in a few caffeine-spurred hours?
Stop making studying hard! Just study a little every day.
5 . You don’t have motivation to study
You can’t study at all because you don’t motivate yourself to study.
That is sometimes an excuse because here is the secret: Action comes before motivation, not the other way round.
Stop waiting for the right moment to come down from the sky like clouds parting and the sun shining down on you.
Just open your book right now and read it.
6 . You have some bad habits
If you can’t study at all, maybe you need to study your own habits.
Get a notebook and begin to track every single thing you do in a day. I would advise tracking habits after every hour.
Then you will begin to notice that you are doing some bad habits that make studying hard for you.
7 . You can’t focus on studying
Studying is hard for you and you can’t study at all because you can’t focus on studying.
My advice for you is to sit down and ask yourself why you can’t focus on studying and find a solution to that.
8 . You don’t have fun while studying
Studying to you is probably boring work!
You need to make studying appealing and inviting so you will feel motivated to study.
9 . You don’t know any study hacks
Everyone has their own study hacks.
You probably don’t. That is why studying is hard for you.
You need come up with a personal game plan for how you plan to get good grades on your next test.
10 . You are just plain lazy
Maybe you are just lazy. Everyone gets lazy once in a while. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get off your butt right now and start studying.
Do the least you can possibly do. Open your book and plan to learn just one thing today.
Remember only you can go deep inside and find out why you can’t study or why you never feel like studying. Ask yourself these questions.
That is how you will begin to create a good mindset that will help you to study.

things have been so hectic since the semester started I haven't had a chance to document much of my work, but this week was slightly better !! I'm loving my classes as I'm taking courses related to my major this semester. the program I have to learn for stats feels a little complex for me, but part of me is very excited to figure it out since this is the first time I've attempted to learn anything remotely close to coding.

man I am just f*cking grateful. I am struggling lately with personal stuff and life hasn't been easy but - damn. With everything going on I still feel lucky and I cannot get rid of the thought that I should be doing better. Well it's not just a thought - I really really need myself to do better.
In less than 2 weeks I have two big exams and I cannot fail them. Therefore I rly have to get into study mode and not do anything else. Unfortunately I have a lot of additional stress with dancing and the upcoming competitions, for which I don't feel ready.
Nevertheless I have decided that I am going to pull through. It's my chance to get my act together. I just need to follow my plans and stay disciplined.

Hello lovelies, I'm officially back.
I'm so sorry for disappearing for so long. If I can be brutally honesty, I'm so overwhelmed. My boy best friend and ex bf (which is not relevant but whatever) is not my best friend anymore and it has hurt as you can't imagine. I saw this quote saying that the worst part of having friends is that the most you love them, the most it hurts losing them. So yeah, we haven't spoken in a whole week and we share all our classes so I'm mentally drained.
I also had a 2 on a glopol hl essay, its the first time in my life i fail anything and I'm so disappointed... like, i put so much effort on it to now fail because of whatever reason.
But, we will be okay.
