I do sincerely apologize if I cause irritation or discomfort for frequent submissions, however I have a lot to discuss, if you would be so kind.

Before I go on to describe my little anecdote, I would like to give readers a brief trigger warning for transphobia and microaggressions towards transgender and non-binary folk.

On a lovely Thursday afternoon a couple of weeks back, I was having a crépe minding my own beeswax. Out of the window I see two middle-aged individuals wearing (that’s right *wearing*, not holding) signs that read something along the lines of “children deserve to have natural puberty”. This was the first time I had seen an anti-trans protest where I live (a rather progressive country, at least relative to the US or the UK), and it was quite the shock.

You will never guess what I did. Without thinking I shout out “Ewww” in front of the entire café. I was frankly disturbed. If these people would’ve come across me as I did them, they would probably have accosted me, as I am an openly and quite honestly, obviously a genderqueer transgender leftist. The fact that this is happening in the country that put a native neopronoun in the dictionary is quite frightening.

The way people on r/CuratedTumblr are talking about the predstrogen situation makes me glad I stopped using that sub and actually started using tumblr proper.

That sub has serious issues when it comes to transphobia. They think that being anti-transphobia begins and ends at using pronouns (he she and they only, don’t even try to discuss neopronouns with them).

Currently there’s a upvoted comment about how this is only a problem for trans people because they’re “too chronically online.” When I pointed out the fact that predstrogen was the victim of a hate campaign that lasted months and leaked into her real life, I was mass downvoted and told “you’re just another chronically online trans person”

About Us:

Why are we pro-endo?: When we were first discovering our system we were desperate to be “real enough” and accepted. Although the first system we discussed plurality with was pro-endo, they left the internet shortly after we opened up, and this lead us to being around sysmeds. To prove ourselves we purposely forced ourselves to remember trauma which put us in a worse position mentally. It took a long time, but through working to accept ourselves, we realized how bigoted we were being, which lead us to question a lot of things, such as our beliefs on endogenic plurality. Although we have gone a long way, some of our alters do not agree with us because it got so drilled into our mind that “endogenic systems are somehow just traumagenic and don’t remember” (which is a incredibly misinformed and harmful.)

What do we plan to talk about on this blog?: Really whatever we feel like! We may talk about Syscourse, plural positivity, advice from personal experience, our trauma, special interests and hyperfixations, ect. If we want to talk about it we probably will. (Although we always try to put the proper trigger and content warnings, and if we miss one by accident please tell us so we can add it as soon as possible!)

Mistakes on post: If we make a mistake, please inform us! What are we “anti” on:

The trans-Id community. We don’t talk about this on this blog due to a lot of these people in this community being children, although we think what they are doing is dangerous and harmful, We would rather not direct harassment towards children. That being said, please do not harass anyone. (Also wanting to add, we are not anti-BIID, BIID is a completely separate thing.)

Bigotry.

”Narcissistic/Borderline/ect abuse” People with personality disorders can be abusive like anyone else can, but the idea of “[PD] abuse” is just to villainies those with Personality Disorders. I use to participate in being super anti all that stuff, until i realized its stupid and its making me and everyone else unhappy.

that's true, and a good point, but also not my thesis! debate about controversial topics rarely leaves any person content. the three core aspects that intra-queer discourse have that make it specifically bad are the individuality, the effect, and the unity. firstly, most arguments about queer identity solely revolve around definition and inclusion to a specific community. one can see this with pansexual vs. bisexual discourse, arguments about neopronouns, defining what a lesbian is, and etc. a person is trying to set these lines in the sand about a person's identity by, often times, policing their language and inclusion. a person's identity, by definition, is a deeply personal thing. it even falls into being a natural right due to inherently deriving from this idea of "autonomy", both in body and thought. secondly, the effect an identity has on the queer community is misrepresented. the autonomy may be countered by weighing a person's natural rights against the common good. the effect an individual's identity has on the common good is often overstated or the entity acting against the common good is often misidentified. this can be seen with the argument of "not being taken seriously" against any number of things related to identity. even if a person would be the cause of the queer community "being taken less seriously", it is improper to point to them as the actor in this scenario. the people who are "taking the queer community less seriously" (or doing any number of things) are the ones to blame because it is their harmful perceptions, not another person's actions, being the ethically incorrect actors. finally, these debates disrupt and harm the unity within the queer community. in these debates, both sides often have very immutable viewpoints. when one disagrees with another, they can see it as a personal attack, due to the association with "harming the community" one side has made. this leads to factions forming within the queer community that refuse to interact, and even villainize the other. they put their energy into vehemently decrying each other which detracts from the efforts of fighting the oppression of the queer community as a whole. discourse and discussion about queer identity is not bad in toto. having one's views challenged is a valuable tool in growing and solidifying why one has those beliefs, yet, these debates do not have the necessary circumstances to currently accomplish that. due to their questioning of one's autonomy, misrepresentation of the effects of one's identity, and disruption of queer unity, queer discourse is often not only ineffective, but actively harmful, and should be widely disregarded in the status quo.
