PREVIOUSLY, on “With You”...
The two of you held one another in the middle of your drafty little kitchen, the shared answers between you only raising more questions.
“I think you should talk to Steven,” you suggested gently, “if you feel ready.”
Resting his forehead against yours, (Marc) rubbed your back soothingly. “Yeah. And maybe...maybe Jake too.”
Tumblr media
It occurred to you, over the next two nights, that perhaps you were a heavy sleeper.
Marc and Steven had a little heart-to-heart about “that bloody stupid pigeon” - Steven’s words, obviously. Steven made it to class and to his university library shifts. Marc’s two years of hard work and sobriety paid off, because he was now equipped with a wonderful support system - you, Steven, a close friend of his, and he even called his old sponsor.
Then he attended a meeting (his idea). It was also his idea for Steven to keep his normal schedule. Marc felt guilty enough for getting Steven fired from the museum those years ago. (That, plus all the secrets.) So he changed his mind about hiding out in the flat with you. Routine was key. Routine and communication.
You were so proud of your guys, but there were still a couple of glaring issues: Jake and the bloody stupid pigeon.
Three nights after you first met Jake, you were determined to talk to him again. Marc had tried, Steven had tried, but Jake was used to operating completely alone. You got the feeling that this alter rarely did one damn thing he didn’t want to do.
So you set three of the loudest, most blaring alarm sounds to go off on your phone - one at 2am, 3am and 4. You warned Marc and Steven, of course. In the event that Jake fell asleep, one of them would most likely wake up. Or Jake might not even front that night.
But in case he did, you wanted to be awake for it. The alarm wasn’t for him anyway. It was because you had apparently slept through Jake’s entire existence, and you would never get to know him if things went on this way. You had to try.
So, tonight you made the effort to sleep in actual pajamas - black satin ones - a gift from Steven, instead of one of Marc’s comfy undershirts. The outfit wasn’t particularly revealing - you weren’t trying to seduce anyone, you just wanted to look a little more presentable than the worried, frantic mess from the first night you met Jake.
Exhaustion overtook you easily and you did fall into a deep sleep, only to be jolted awake by your blaring 2am alarm, which scared the shit out of you. This could possibly be your worst idea ever. But you quickly realized, while trying to calm the hammering of your heart, that your fiancé was not in bed with you.
Sitting up and pushing off the bed, you trudged to the bathroom to splash cold water on your face before checking the apartment for signs of life. Nothing.
So you waited.
You were alllmost back to sleep when he arrived - through the damn window, again.
Sitting up, you flipped on the bedside lamp, just as he pulled his flat cap from his head and raked his fingers through his lustrous, chocolate waves. Sporting what you were starting to believe was his signature look - this alter carried himself with a self-assurance you had never seen from your fiancé.
His expensive but worn leather jacket stopped at his waist, meeting well-fitting, sleek black pants. The same crisp, white shirt and dark tie, along with black, leather driving gloves completed his style. These weren’t clothes off a rack - they were tailored to fit him perfectly. He had chosen his look for a purpose...you assumed.
“Jake?” you softly greeted, easing off the bed.
Warm brown eyes stared at you, flashing as if momentarily caught off guard, before he pulled at the fingers of his gloves, just like he had done the first night.
“Go back to bed, cariño,” he implored, his voice rich, alluring, and much deeper than Steven’s. “It’s late, you should sleep,” he added, forcing himself to look away from the black satin draping itself over your body.
“I don’t respond well to orders,” you nonchalantly replied, easing toward him. “I was waiting for you.”
Clenching both of his removed gloves in one hand, he stopped and turned to glare at you. “Why?”
“Why not?” you shrugged. “It’s the middle of the night. I was worried.”
He scoffed. Dropping his gloves, he peeled off his leather jacket, turning his back to you. “Well, don’t. I can take care of myself.”
“Apparently not,” you shot back, reaching down to gather his discarded hat, gloves and jacket, domestically picking up after him, as if it were completely natural to you. “Not since Marc woke up in an alley the other night, in the Moon Knight suit.”
Jake was not sure what was more infuriating at the moment: you touching his shit, or you running interference for Marc.
“I get it - can’t let anything upset Marc,” he growled, jerking his clothing out of your arms, a little more dramatically than he intended. You didn’t even flinch. “Believe me, muñeca(o), I’ve been dealing with him my whole life.”
You rolled your eyes, bristling in Marc’s defense. “Okay, first of all, I am not your doll.” You matched his glare with your hands on your hips, “and secondly, you can fuck right off.”
“Happily,” he sarcastically agreed. “You’re the one who ambushed me.”
True. You were in rare form tonight. However...
“Oh. I didn’t realize walking around my own bedroom was considered an ambush,” you fired back. “I was worried about you, Jake!”
“You were worried about him,” he sneered, dropping the pile of clothes onto the bed. “And I get that. You two are getting married, or whatever. Just let me do my job in peace.”
“And what is your job, exactly? Being Khonshu’s slave? Almost getting yourself killed?”
Dragging a hand down his face, he groaned.
“I fucked up, okay? It’s never happened before.” Angrily jerking off his tie, he silently cursed himself for coming in the window again, without making sure you were asleep. Although part of him knew, deep down, that he was dying to see you. And now this. Now you knew what had happened to Marc, that night, in the alley.
“Jake, I can’t control what you do,” you admitted, your voice softening. You rarely ever raised your voice, let alone argued like this with Marc or Steven. But Jake just got under your skin. The heat in your cheeks and the heaving of your chest was definitely all worry. Nothing else, not at all...right?
“I’m not trying to tell you what to do,” you started again, boldly reaching for the tie clenched in his strong fist, which he held tightly to. “Your choices are yours. I respect that.”
He waited for a moment. “But?” He prodded.
“But,” you added, swallowing hard, “You could have seriously been hurt. Khonshu is not obviously not protecting you. He doesn’t care what happens to you.”
“No one cares what happens to me,” he snapped, jerking away from you, tossing his tie carelessly. “That’s how it works. I protect them. That’s my job. That’s my only job.”
“Bullshit,” you challenged, following him closely. “I care what happens to you, Jake. I care!” Reaching out, you desperately took hold of his forearm. “I’ve been waiting three nights in a row to see you again. I set my alarm just to wake up and see you. I’m yelling at you, Jake, and I never yell, ever. You’re driving me crazy!”
“Is that right?” He lowly growled, grabbing your arm - the one connected to him - and walking you back toward the wall. If you wanted his attention, you damn sure had it now. “You’ve known me for three days and I’m driving you crazy?”
All the air rushed out of you as one grip became two. Jake grasped your shoulders and pressed your back up against the wall, bending his knees slightly to descend to your height. “I’ve been sleeping next to you for years, mi amor. So believe me when I say that I know how you feel.”
“Jake, I...” you struggled to breathe normally as his dark eyes burned into yours, the grip of his fingers unyielding, yet somehow tender. “I didn’t know,” you finally uttered. “I didn’t know you were there, all this time. We don’t even know each other.”
“I do know you,” he confessed, his voice softening as his thick fingers loosened their grip. “I know you. Marc and Steven too. So I can protect you.”
“But who will protect you?” you whispered, placing your palms on his chest to brace yourself, the heat of his firm body seeping through his dress shirt.
His searing gaze faltered, eyes dropping, his jaw clenching in determination. “Doesn’t matter. I have to do this for them. You have no idea how many enemies Marc has. Nothing else can happen to him.”
“What do you mean?” You asked him, your voice softening. “Doesn’t being an avatar make more enemies? Marc was trying to leave all that behind.”
Shaking his head, Jake turned his face away, sighing loudly. Why was he even doing this with you? As foreign as a personal conversation felt to him, he couldn’t deny how good it felt to be looked after - to be worried about, to be touched.
“He can’t - leave it behind. It’s not safe,” Jake finally explained, his head still turned to the side, avoiding your pleading gaze. “We’re not safe without Khonshu.”
You wanted to protest, but in all honestly, how would you know?
“Jake,” you whispered, pushing your fingers up the definition of his chest, over the length of his neck to trace the sharp edge of his jaw. God, he was beautiful. So like the men you loved, yet completely his own, complicated person. You knew next to nothing about him. He could have his own life, his own family - someone of his own to come home to.
...but why, then, had he spent years sleeping next to you? And why were you drawn to him like this - following him, touching him, shouting...your emotions wild and unpredictable?
“Jake,” you began again, your breath faltering as his eyes met yours.
He couldn’t take it - being this close to you. “What?” he rasped, his voice softly betraying the stern pinch of his dark eyebrows. “What do you want from me?”
Releasing your shoulders, finally, he took hold of your hips, pulling you flush against his chest. “Tell me, cariño,” he whispered darkly. “Tell me what you want.”
“I want -” you hardly recognized the plea in your own voice, you fingers still dancing over the angles of his handsome face.
Jake’s eyebrows shot up inquisitively, the corner of his mouth curling slightly. You realized, then, that he seemed pleased to see you falter - to see you speechless.
Well, fuck that.
“I want to know you,” you finally admitted, returning the press of your fingers to his chest, your gaze dropping. “I want to know who you are, and if...if you have anyone. Someone - a family. And I want Marc and Steven to know you.”
Ah, he should have known. Releasing his grip on your hips, he pulled away, nodding as he headed toward the edge of the bed. Pushing his discarded pile of clothes aside, he sat down on the edge, resting his elbows on his knees.
“I don’t know what you were thinking,” he finally responded, “but...this is my only home.” His eyes met yours from across the room. “You’re my only family.”
Your whole world stopped.
All at once, you were both devastated and thrilled. Jake had no one else to answer to in his life - he could be a family with you and Marc and Steven, if he was willing. Even if he didn’t want to be involved with you romantically, you wanted him to be a part of your life. But what kind of lonely existence had he led? Out at night, the avatar of a god, bringing vengeance to the vilest of men...protecting the system, but getting nothing in return?
But the two of you couldn’t solve everything in one night. You would try, once more, to take what was in front of you, one step at a time.
“I am,” you finally answered, crossing the room to ease down on the edge of the bed beside him. “I am your family. And this is your home. You don’t have to hide from us, Jake, or sneak in through windows.”
“I’m not...hiding,” he attempted, eyes downcast as his shoulder rubbed up against yours. “I just don’t want to take any more of their life. Of yours.”
“They’re trying to talk to you, you know. You don’t have to shut them out.”
He said your name then, and it almost felt strange to hear him say it. Different, but...good.
He waited until you turned your head to look at him. “What I have...the way we are,” He tapped a finger to his temple, “in here...it’s not like a phone call. It doesn’t always work like that. It’s not always a sure thing.”
Shit. You violated the my-man-has-DID rules somehow. “I-I’m sorry, Jake, you’re right. It’s not my place to tell you how to...I don’t know, interact with your alters. I’m really sorry.”
Scowling, he paused, making you wonder if you really offended him.
“Are you always this damn infuriating?” He cracked a smile, letting you know it was all right.
“Actually, I’m usually a very calm and reasonable person,” you chuckled, leaning against his arm and giving him a little shove. “You just bring it out in me.”
Oh, he liked the idea of getting under your skin. He liked it a lot.
“Really?” He teased. “You mean you don’t scare the shit out them in the middle of the night? Follow them around? Drive them crazy...wearing that?” He threw your words back at you.
What a little shit.
“No,” you steadily answered him, your gaze open and honest. “I guess I’m just here to drive you crazy.”

Tips for Writing Plot Twists
Well, after a very long, unexpected House of the Dragon fandom break, we are now back to our regularly scheduled writing program! Funnily enough, this is kind of House of the Dragon related because today we are talking about writing plot twists. And not just any plot twists, plot twists that make sense and don’t leave your reader wanting to pull their hair out and throw your book across the room. Writing plot twists is a lot harder than it looks. I know that when I read a book with a great plot twists that I actually didn’t see coming, I always wanna give the writers a little round of applause because that is impressive my friends. Especially in the day and age of super common tropes and readers’ having particular expectations, it’s always nice when there’s a new innovative twist out there. Worry not, here are a few simple twists that will help you on your way to writing the best plot twist for your story!
WWTRD??
What would the reader do, my friends? In order to write a good plot twist, you need to try and put yourself in the shoes of the reader who will actually be reading this. This might seem like a pretty obvious tip, but it’s one of the most simple and effective ones out there! As you’re going through your story or even your outline, write down all of the ways that you would normally expect the story to go. What potential twists and turns immediately come to mind? Write every single one of those down and then make sure that your plot twist does not include any of them. Especially if you read and write in the same genre (like I do, fantasy and sci-fi all the way), then your brain probably works in the same way as most of your readers. Like I mentioned above, people who always read in the same genre are used to the conventions and standards of their genre. Unfortunately for us writers, that makes it a lot harder to come up with a plot twist. I recommend looking at the list of plot twists that we’re going to throw out and writing down the opposite of all of those. That’s always good advice, imo. If you feel like your story is getting too predictable, take it in the complete opposite direction. When even you’re surprised by what’s going on, you’re on the right track!
Bread Crumbs a la Hansel and Gretel
The original versions of fairytales are absolutely terrifying. I had to look into them for one of my English classes and boy, oh boy, childhood = ruined. Anyways, just like Hansel and Gretel with their little bread crumbs, you want to subtly guide the readers’ attention away from any potential plot twist, so the twist is all the more surprising. You always want to make your readers think they know what’s going on, then flip all of that on its head. There are a lot of different tools that you can use to do that like red herrings, false flags, or other types of MacGuffins. These decoys deliberately plant false clues, or other misinformation that leads the reader in the wrong direction. Sometimes, they even lead the reader to even think they have reached the happy ending only to reveal their devious nature. HOWEVER, you will noticed that subtly is bolded above because please remember the subtly. This is another one of my big problems with YA fiction because some YA writers seem to think that kids are like legitimately stupid. That’s why I don’t think, imo, there’s been a YA book with an absolutely great plot twist in a while because YA writers tend to spoon-fed their readers everything and try too hard to steer readers in the wrong direction. Readers notice when writers do this, and you don’t want it to happen.
BFFR
Be fricken for real, guys, and that means not only ensuring that your plot twist is believable and necessary but also MAKES SENSE. Plot twists making sense is a problem that seems to have popped up in the last five years in all genres not just YA, I would say. Authors seem to focus a lot on the part of the definition of plot twists that says sudden, unexpected and shocking change of direction whilst ignoring the part that includes realistic and reasonable. To me, the realistic and reasonable part is almost more important. If a super unpredictable plot twist pops up out of nowhere without even relating to the story, of course I’m gonna be surprised. Does that mean I’m going to be surprised? No, it does not. Which leads us to the most important lesson: SHOCK VALUE FOR THE SAKE OF SHOCK VALUE IS NOT GOOD. It’s just not. That means not resorting to gimmicks or having a plot twist just to have one. Just like everything else in your story, plot twists should serve to further the story in some way. Not every story needs a plot twist, and some stories are far better off without them!
Phone a Friend!
When in doubt, phone a friend! Writer’s block, phone a friend! Need advice on character development, phone a friend! Struggling with plot twists, phone a friend! In this case, beta readers. Like I said above, stepping into the reader’s shoes is a great way to think of ideas for plot twists, and getting beta readers to read your story is a great way to test out the believability of your plot twist once you’ve written it. Ask them wether or not they thought it was effective within the overall plot, did they believe it, did they see it coming, and overall what about it worked and didn’t work for them. But, don’t ask them about any of this until after they’ve already read the book. You don’t want them to go into the story hunting for a plot twist because they won’t react the same way that an actual prospective reader would. If they immediately come to you, gushing about how amazing the plot twist was and how much they loved it, you know you’re doing something writer. And on the flip side, if they say, wait what plot twist, you know you still have a little work to do!

Tutor alpha Jaemin can't concentrate because he can smell clueless airhead reader about to go in heat
good timing💙
warnings. degradation, mean Alpha stuff, fingering
Tumblr media
it wasn’t really Jaemin’s decision to tutor you, as if he’d want to spend more time around one of the only Omegas in class who refuses to use scent repressors.
‘it’s not my fault if these dumb meathead Alphas can’t control their hormones. I’m not obligated to waste my money on overpriced soaps for you assholes to keep it in your pants.’
he honestly can’t stand your blatant audacity. self-righteous enough to brag about how proud you are to be an Omega, yet failing every class— including Omegan patriotic history.
“so stupid.” he mutters under his breath, kissing the backs of his teeth while you scribble in the bubbles on the study guide he typed out for you.
“huh?” your ditzy gaze nearly snaps the pencil twirling between his fingers in-half. groaning as he cracks his neck, he scoffs, ripping the packet away from you.
“you aren’t even reading the questions! what the hell is wrong with you!”
“your questions make no sense!” you snap back, more grouchy than usual with your pre-heat rearing its ugly head last night. the laws just had to change before a new semester, restricting Omegas from missing work or school. the expectation being that you’d suffer through it and keep Alphas under control by inhaling prescription heat suppressants.
“no, you’re just dumb.” Jaemin retorts, turning away to exit the classroom he’d scheduled to tutor you in. “stupid Omega.”
“Jaem— ugh..” your rebuttal cuts off, clenching your thighs together, nearly breaking the desk with your bare hands to control a moan from passing.
“you’ve got to be joking.”
the Alphas perfect teeth grit together, pearly whites grinding while opening and shutting his fists at his sides. “you’re even dumber than I gave you credit for.”
“stop!” you whine, dropping your forehead on the desk to cool down the fiery heat incinerating you from the inside. “Alpha.. help me..”
Jaemin’s head falls back, ripping the straps of his bag off to throw aside. his tongue rolling against the roof of his mouth to contain a malicious laugh.
“help you?” thick fingers twist through the back of your hair, clumping together a bunch creating painful tangles between his digits. “you’re literally brainless.”
the Alpha had a point, no amount of scent blocking soap and cream could mask the deep feral musk flowing off his flesh. the aroma surging it’s way past your nostrils, quickly filling your brain with nothing more than the need to submit, beg for any Alpha to fuck you full of pups.
“pl-please Jaem—“
he’s jerking your head side to side, drool leaking out onto the desk before you can get another word out.
“disgusting.” he bites out, pulling on your scalp until your bottom lifts from the seat. chest dragged across the puddle formed on your desk. tossing your head away once he has you fully presented with your ass in the air; the pathetic excuse for a skirt you wore flipping up without any assistance, revealing soaked through ruined underwear.
“can’t even pass a fucking test about your own rank.” he continues to jeer, kneading and groping your meaty mounds. “at least you’re good for one thing.”
a rough smack jostles you forward, coughing between a cracked shout as you lurch. the whack across your ass shooting hot tingles up your spine, throbbing at your lower back in aftermath.
“h-help me Alpha.” he babbles, mocking your high pitched tone. another smack delivered to your already sore bottom, smoothing a thick calloused palm over the exposed bit of cheek. he laughs breathily, nodding to himself as he gathers the drenched cotton fabric of your white panties.
“this is what you needed.” he smacks again, again and again. a string of curses drip off your tongue, drooping on the table with your ankles locked together. kicking and hissing the more he lands harsh stinging hits across your bottom. “needed Alpha to put you in your place, teach you exactly how proper Omegas act.”
“Jaemi— ah, fuck!” the Alpha rips your panties to the side, the stretch of the elastic burning the skin surrounding your core. a heavy wide palm collides with your cunt, bowing your back to arch up, wailing and pleading for mercy.
his rough grip spreads your buttcheeks apart, humiliating you furthermore by making lewd comments about how wet you are, how desperately your hole clamps around emptiness.
“nothing but a stupid hole to fuck full of cum.” the Alpha spews on, adding more misery by prodding two digits in only to the first knuckle.
it’s not enough, too empty, too light-headed. the room spinning as you mindlessly throw your hips back for more. his free arm coming down to lodge against your nape, ripping a squeak from your chest with a chorus of pleasepleaseplease.
“what do you want?” he huffs, thick length digging against your hip compressed by his tight slacks. “don’t tell me you’re too dumb even for that.”
“Alpha! Alpha please! need it, need it!”
“do. better. you. stupid. slut.” he punches out gravelly, thrusting into your hip and buttcheek to emphasize each word. the last piston digging your pelvic bone against the edge of the desk hard enough to hurt, hard enough to spring tears from your eyes.
“please.. pleasepleaseplease..”
Jaemin’s fingers dig in brutally, pumping in and out obscenely. slick spurting out soaking his arm, staining the pristine white collared shirt he ironed everyday before school.
“fuck me! Alpha! please fuck me!” it’s pathetic really, reaching your lowest point of hunger. the cock throbbing against your hip panging up to your chest. a lick of heat fisting your lungs in threat to give your Omega what it wants.
“do you see how much easier this could be if you’d just comply?” Jaemin says proudly, using your back to push himself up. purposely shoving the entirety of his weight down the cut off your air flow. his free hand making work to release himself, full mass hard as a rock landing on your ass with a loud smack echoing through the room.
“let’s find out if you’re too stupid to pass this test.”

BREAKING AND ENTERING MASTER LIST
LDYSMFRST MASTER LIST
Tumblr media
My world got flipped again with two simple works – High school.
Like actual high school with other students.
Not alone with a tutor in the library of the packhouse.
After my father wished me luck, Aliaksandr, Mitch, and I moved to Gamma Jon's office to discuss my day. I started at 8 a.m. and ended at 3 p.m., followed by training with the warriors my age, who would be under my command.
"What do you mean I have a free third period? What is brunch? I thought there were sports after school, not training?" I ask no one in particular as I look down below, watching the students starting to come in quickly.
“What’s with the block schedules?”
Most students are dressed lightly for the heat until one student catches my eye, leaving the building … wearing pants and a hoodie. Watching the student walk away, I can feel Borya get restless.
"MIKY!" Aliaksandr raises his voice, and I spin around and glare at him before I say anything, "If you want us to answer all your questions, you might want to listen to our answers. Besides, you have five minutes to get to your first class with me, and Professor Clark is not one to mess with."
"You are lucky you are my Beta, Sasha," I say as I grab my coat.
Mitch hands me a backpack and says, "In here, you have everything you need for your first 2 classes. Your locker has the rest of your stuff. I know you aren't dressed for school, but we will make do."
"What do you mean I am not dressed for school?" That is when I remembered I was dressed for the office.
I thought this morning's meeting would be with an advisor or to settle something urgent, so I wore a three-piece charcoal gray suit with no tie and black dress shoes.
"I cannot go to my first day of school like this! What kind of impression would that be? I am stuck up, prick, right? I think not. Hold on."
Papa, can I run home and get on something other than a suit? I mindlink my father.
Yes, Misha. You can start after brunch. Take Sasha with you.
"Sasha, you and I will go back to the packhouse so I can change. Mitch, you go ahead and get to class. We will meet back here during the third period. Understood?"
They nod in unison, and Mitch jogs out of the office.
Tumblr media
Sasha and I head home to my car, a deep purple Toyota Highlander, and along the way to the packhouse, I decide it's time for some answers.
"Sasha, when did you know this was going to happen?" I glare at him quickly, trying to keep my eyes on the road.
Avoiding my eyes and looking out the front windshield, he responds after a second, "About two days ago, but Mitch knew about a month ago because Gamma Jon mentioned something to him in passing."
"So, explain high school."
Listening to my Beta tell me about the cliques, the squabbles between the circles, and all the chicks, I know this year will be challenging. I not only have to integrate like I am just another student, but I also have to find the balance between being one of them and being their next Alpha.
Then, I have to deal with multiple teachers instead of one tutor.
While it seems like a lot, this will probably be my most straightforward transition. Despite what my father thinks, I already know most of the pack. Then, my tutors were from the school and would switch depending on the topic. Having more than one at a time shouldn't be challenging, but we will see.
The hard part is finding my mate. According to Sasha, it should be easy with all the females at the school turning 18 soon.
Even though it seems like it would be easy, Sasha doesn’t seem to consider all of my Alpha duties. Taking the time out of those duties to attend coming-of-age celebrations means later nights for me.
I have always wondered what it would be like for humans who must go through trial and error to find a mate. In my sleepless nights, I have read books about epic battles over love or heartache over being with the wrong human mate.
Can you imagine wasting months or years of your life only to have your chosen mate be the wrong one?
It may not be that different from living your life without being moonmatched.
When we get to the packhouse, we have some time before we have to get back. I decided to raid the fridge for breakfast, shower, and change into dark denim jeans, a dark blue polo shirt, and blue and black Nikes. For some reason, since I learned about going to school, Borya has been restless.
Borya, what is wrong? Why are you acting like you haven't been on a run all month? We ran last night.
She is near, our mate; she is finally close.
Do you mean she is eighteen already? We need to find her fast.
I don't think she is eighteen yet, but I can feel her. Being an Alpha allows us to feel things before anyone else, including her.
Right, but she is here, and I may meet her sooner than we thought.
Running downstairs, I call for Sasha. I cannot wait to tell him what Borya said. "Sasha! Sasha! I have great news!" I yell as I barrel around the corner into the main hall, almost running into my mother.
"Good Morning to you too, Misha," she smiles at me. “I hear your father finally told you the good news. You're starting in an actual high school. Remember, you are still 18 years old. Have fun with school, make friends, and find yourself."
"Mum! I am so sorry. Where is Sasha? I have great news! Borya said he felt our mate, which means she is here! She really is here!" I say with a massive smile, hugging my mother tightly.
"That is wonderful! Now, you must ensure you are a man worth being a mate with. Oh, I had Sasha wait for you in the car. I wanted to wish you luck on your first day of school," she tells me as she walks to the front door, "Now off with you. Good luck, and make us proud."

Tumblr media
It was a dumb shirt, you knew wearing it to school was going to be a problem but the whole morning was a shit show so you didn’t have time to change. It was a really nasty shade of green and it fit you like a box. The sweatpants you decided to wear just made you look like you just rolled out of bed, because you had. Oversleeping makes one panic in the morning that’s for damn sure. School was just as bad, especially since Jason Carver woke up and chose you to be his victim today. All day he had been calling you names, knocking your books out of your hand and harassing you about your best friend. Billy was popular but Jason hated him, and because of your class schedule you barely got to see Billy during the day. Lunch time he was being held in a lunch detention for falling asleep in another class so Jason took the opportunity to throw apple juice at you. The day just sucked.
Finally the bell rang and you just wanted to go home, Billy usually took you but you didn’t want to wait for him because Jason was hot on your heels.
“Gonna run home and cry about how the big bad basketball players were mean to you today? Yeah? Wittle cry baby? You’re pathetic.”
You just pushed on outside, wanting to just go the fuck home.
“No wonder your dad died! I’d want to too if my daughter was a fat bitch like you!”
God. Damn. You. Jason. Your legs stopped working for a few moments. He just had to yell your business so the whole fucking school could hear it. Embarrassed tears streaked your face as you ran to the comfort of a certain blue Camaro. Billy wasn’t inside yet but you had his spare key; perks of being the best friend. You sat down and began crying so loud that when he opened his door you didn’t even hear it.
“….if you bleed on my seats you need to pay for it to be cleaned.”
Billy had no idea what to do. He’d only ever seen you cry once, and it was when your dad died. He usually was the one crying in front of you. You shot a glare at him through your tears.
“I’m not on my period idiot.”
“…so are you gonna tell me or are you gonna do the dumb girl thing where you just cry and make everyone else miserable too?”
Sometimes you questioned your friendship, and your secret love for him. He could be a real asshole.
“Jason fucking Carver. He’s been on my ass all day and then…he just…he said…something about my dad…”
Billy’s attitude switched immediately. He may have been an ass but he loved you. You knew him, all of him, and you didn’t judge him at all. You were always there for him; like when Neil got to physical and you patched him up in your bathroom, or when he got into a fight at a party and you got in Tommy’s face for trying to start shit when he was too drunk to fight. You were always in his corner.
“Finally.”
Billy threw open his car door and b-lined it to the fucking prick. You followed, not stopping him because part of you wanted to see Jason get his shit ROCKED.
“Well, Well. The ogre had her little boyfriend come and save the day.”
Jason laughed with his friends but Billy didn’t stop or slow down at all. He stormed right up to Jason and DECKED him. Jason fell back and you gasped, happy but surprised at the intensity of Billy’s punch.
“Yea well leave my girlfriend alone and you won’t have to see me again. If you fuck with her at ALL anymore, you’ll never walk again.”
Girlfriend? You were still stuck on that when Billy aggressively pulled you back towards his car. Jason could be heard groaning about a broken nose but you were focused on Billy.
“Ready?”
“Ready for what? What do you mean girlfriend? What the fuck happened back there??”
“I’ve been waiting for a reason to knock his dumb ass out. We’re basically already dating, I think you’re hot you think I’m hot don’t get your pantyhose in a twist.”
You were dumbfounded.
“You’re such a romantic Hargrove.”
You rolled your eyes, but Billy killed the car engine and sighed.
“Look, I want to take you on a date, like a real one and I want to be good to you the way you are to me; I just didn’t want to bring it up after I got into a fight. I wanted to ask you later. But since you’re being a brat about it, yeah. I want you to be my girlfriend.”
Jesus this boy was so dumb. You just laughed to yourself and nodded.
“Okay Billy. But you have to do this right. I’m not one of your groupies okay?”
He chuckled and eyed you.
“Oh I know. They dress so much better than you.”
“I WAS RUNNING LATE YOU FU—“
He shut you up with a way overdue kiss. This was going to be an interesting adventure.

A/N: Planning to post some finished requests tonight thankfully but I wanted to share something super self indulgent with you guys since I just recently got an Alexa! I'm still kind of in a funk (since classes are STILL not over with) so thank you everyone for your kind words in my inbox q wq For now I only have Riddle and Leona...but if everyone likes it I'll make an effort to finish! I kinda am working on Azul's as we speak >:3 Warnings: Boys missing you terribly, Riddle justifying the breaking of rules and Leona realizing that he is talking to an inanimate object.
The Ramshackle Prefect leaves to go to RSA for a month, following a lead that could get them back home. And while the dorm leaders do miss them terribly, it seems one of them is hiding something.
. .
“AZUL-SHI DO SOMETHING.”
The Octavinelle dorm leader barely listened to his friend's request as he also crowded over Idia’s phone, the other five dorm leaders looking down at the screen as a pair of familiar eyes stared back at them.
“Where is Idia? Can you please hand me back to him?”
Riddle blinked at the sprite on the screen before looking back at Idia with a frown.
“Explain yourself, Shroud.”
Idia whimpered as he hung his head low in shame.
“[Y/N]-san...I mean...the Prefect left to go to RSA for a whole month, right? Crowley said it was to help them find a way back home but apparently there was some trouble there too and...and he brought them to fix it...”
Malleus’s neutral expression changes into something a bit sadder while Kalim lets out what everybody was thinking.
“To take them away so suddenly...I didn’t even get a chance to give them a goodbye party!”
“They’re only away for a month, Kalim.” Vil’s eyes stay on Idia’s phone screen.
“But I’m sure a party would have let them know how much I would miss them!”
Riddle clears his throat, “That still doesn’t explain anything about what I am seeing. Why in the world do you have something that looks like...that looks so much like them on your phone!”
Idia was sure this was hell. Of all the people to catch him using his phone during a dorm leader meeting, why did it have to be Riddle? What was he even supposed to answer to that question! That he missed talking to [Y/N]-san about the new animes that were releasing this week that he had purposefully made an AI from data Ortho had collected on them and their mannerisms?
He would rather die!
“I--I was testing a new AI! Just...for schedules and stuff like that! And I didn’t have anything else to base it on so I just took [Y/N]-san’s information and made a prototype! It’s not just going to go out to the public like that! They can customize it however they like--!”
Azul hums as he taps the screen, the sprite giggling as he touches their cheek before looking up at all of them expectantly.
“...A prototype, huh.” he smiles and leans back while taking his phone out, “Everybody stop crowding around him, we might as well be breaking his arm slowly at this point.”
The rest of the dorm leader's move back with only some protest, Idia’s eyes shining as he looks up at his other friend.
“Azul-shi…”
The dorm leader of Octavinelle grins, “If it’s a prototype then that means it needs users, correct? More people to test it out?”
“Eh?”
Azul puts his phone in front of Idia and smiles at him like he was just about to close a rather important business transaction.
“Well then I want the prototype as well. Download it to my phone, will you?”
“Eh?!”
Idia presses his phone to his chest as if Azul was about to take it, looking around nervously as the other dorm leaders take their phones out and set it in front of him.
“If it’s an application for scheduling then I could use it to keep Heartslabyul’s matters in check. I’ll take one too.”
“Ruggie is gonna be busy during exams...this thing better work as an alarm.”
“Surely this would help me keep track of my schedule for both the Monstro Lounge and school. I’ll take one with a statistics program built in, Idia”
“Oh!! I want mine to be able to sing! And can I also get them in Scarabia’s dorm uniform? I want to see what [Y/N]-san would look like!’
“I’ll take that as well. I also want a photo re-touch feature as well as one hour updates as to what is going on in my Magicam account.”
Each phone was placed in front of him as Idia felt his head start to spin. He just wanted to keep this thing a secret only for himself! He wasn’t even planning to release it, it was all just a lie so they wouldn’t know his greatest shame!
A shadow was casted over him, Idia looking up slowly as Malleus smiled and placed his phone down.
“I am eager to see your finished product, Shroud.”
Tumblr media
The tarts in front of him looked absolutely delicious.
Trey had really outdone himself this time. The strawberries were cut into perfectly neat shapes and the glaze over them made them so mouth wateringly shiny that he could practically taste the sweet treat without even having to taste it!
Which only made his want of one grow even more.
“And here comes the next batch.” Trey smiles as he puts down another plate in front of him, Riddle’s eyes now staring at that plate while his vice dorm leader cleans himself up.
“When did you say the Unbirthday party was going to be today?”
“A-At three o’clock sharp.”
Trey nods as he looks at the clock in the kitchen.
“Perfect. I promised to meet Jade to get some herbs he has been growing as well as letting him teach me how to make this one soup they had in the Monstro Lounge about a week ago.”
He grabs his phone and heads out, leaving Riddle with a quick goodbye and a promise that he would make it back as quick as possible.
Leaving him all alone with two plates filled with his favourite treat.
The dorm leader looks around once...then twice...checking if anybody was coming into the kitchen before going back to stare at the plates.
It wasn’t like he was going to grab one
The Unbirthday party today would be using pastries that Trey had made yesterday. It was the third of the month so the rules required a completely different pastry. The strawberry tarts were most likely for tomorrow.
So Riddle could wait. He was the Heartslabyul dorm leader after all so not only could he wait but he was required to wait! As the dorm leader he was to set an example and he couldn’t let himself be seduced so easily by just two plates of such yummy looking tarts--!
He quickly takes his phone out and looks down at the screen, face flushing as he tries to remember how Idia told him to open up the new app.
“[Y/N]-san…?”
A face peeks out from the corner of his phone, smiling as it recognizes his face and steps out while giving him a polite bow.
“Good morning, Riddle-san! What can I help you with?”
He can’t help a small rush of excitement at seeing the Prefect’s face after not seeing them for two weeks. Riddle would make an effort to stop and talk to them whenever they made their way to Heartslabyul that not seeing them for so long had almost thrown him off his schedule.
And...he missed the conversations he had with them.
As the dorm leader and a student in NRC he didn’t necessarily have time to go to any other events or take part in any of the shenanigans others would get up to, not that he necessarily wanted to, but it was entertaining when the Prefect talked about it with him.
It felt like they were letting him into their world.
So maybe this substitute would suffice...it was a scheduling app after all so it wasn’t like he was using it for pleasure only.
“Would you please repeat rule 56 of the Queen’s handbook?”
The AI clears their throat as a book animation appears before them.
“Rule number 56: On the third of April, black tea should be served along with pineapple tarts. Followed by a game of cards in which the loser must pour the Queen tea for the rest of the Unbirthday party.”
Riddle sighs as he looks back at the plate of tarts.
“...I guess I’ll wait until tomorrow…”
“Wait until what?”
He looks down at the AI, the sprite blinking in confusion as it waits for an answer. Idia had mentioned adding a conversational feature…
“There is no rule about what to eat tomorrow so I decided that we would have strawberry tarts.”
“Are those your favourite?”
Riddle nods and steps out of the kitchen, making his way to his room as he stared back at the open door.
“They are. Ever since I was little. I couldn’t have many because of--”
He decides to not go deep into the subject.
“I’m sure Trey’s pineapple tarts will be excellent. I will just have to wait until tomorrow to enjoy the strawberry ones.”
The AI hums before the book animation pops up again, looking down and flipping a couple of pages before speaking up.
“Riddle-san. While it does say that black tea should be served with pineapple tarts...it does state that it should be done for the Unbirthday party and the Unbirthday party only.”
He frowns, “Your point?”
“I am sure no rule would be broken if only the Queen has a tea party before the Unbirthday party. From what I am seeing here--”
They flip a couple more pages.
“There is no rule about a tea party of one enjoying a strawberry tart.”
Riddle blinks before looking down at his phone, the sprite smiling as they shut the small book and lets it disappear with a ‘poof.’
No rule would be broken...if it was only a tea part of one?
He looks down at the AI when he hears them giggle.
“Riddle-san looks really happy.”
A blush covers his face at being called out on how big his smile probably was.
“Did I help in any way?”
The dorm leader takes a deep breath before smiling as he looks down at the phone and presses his fingertip on top of their head, rubbing it back and forth as if they were petting them. Something he knew he could never really do with them in real life lest he was looking to get odd looks.
“More than enough. Would you like to accompany me during this tea party?”
“Yes please!”
Riddle nods before looking around once more and clearing his throat.
“And...would you refer to me as ‘dorm leader’ from now on?”
The sprite nods as they give him a polite bow.
“Yes, dorm leader!”
He would need to send his report of the app as quickly as possible, Idia had really outdone himself this time...maybe he could ask if he could get them dressed up in the Heartslabyul uniform?
Riddle still wished you would hurry back.
Tumblr media
“Leona-san! Please wake up!”
The blankets on the bed wriggled a bit as the phone was tousled over from one side of the bed to the other, the sprite inside frowning as they tried again.
“Leona-san! Please wake up! Ruggie-san texted you!”
A hand comes out of the blankets before holding the phone up.
“Read the text out loud then.”
Sighing, the AI pulls the text up and reads out loud.
“Please be awake by the time I get there, Leona. I need to make sure I get your signature on these papers for the dorm budget. If you don’t I’ll hold your lunch captive!”
Leona’s face finally pops up from under the blanket, the man sitting up and running a hand through his hair as he speaks up again.
‘Oi. What time is it?”
“It is 3:14 in the afternoon, Leona-san.”
“And when did Ruggie send the text?”
“At 3:00 o'clock.”
He groans and lays back down, the pillows flying about as he holds the phone to his face and smiling when he sees the sprite looking down at him worriedly.
“You really do look like them…” Leona whispers before tapping the screen so that he is poking the sprite’s cheek, “What is that face for?”
“I’m just worried for you, Leona-san. Too much sleep is a symptom of some sicknesses so--”
“Hah? You think I would get sick so easily?” he yawns and stretches, “I’m different from humans. Beastmen need a lot more sleep than regular humans do so...I’m just doing what my body tells me.”
Green eyes watch a notepad appear before the AI as they write down the information, smiling as they close it up and watch it disappear.
“I’ll keep that information in mind so I can serve Leona-san better. Thank you so much.”
Leona blinks at the words before a lazy smile crosses his face.
“Serve me better, huh? Never thought I would hear you say that.”
Usually the herbivore would be frowning and telling him to get up and actually take charge of his dorm and how he didn’t act like any grown up they knew. The sprite, however, tilts their head in confusion before speaking up once again.
“I am yours, after all.”
“Damn right you are.”
He looked at the phone a bit more, the sprite smiling up at him as he poked their cheek or patted their head. A part of him wondered if you would react like that with him as well. You always seemed so annoyed with his antics yet you never failed to come back to talk to him, telling him how he needs to get his act together if he is ever planning to go back to the Afterglow.
Leona would bet money that if he patted your head out of nowhere you would be highly flustered. Getting praise from him was something that didn’t happen often, after all.
“What day is it?”
“The 12th day of April, Leona-san.”
Another two weeks of you being gone. He frowns and closes his eyes as he thinks about you meeting those other students. RSA was just full of idiots...like his brother--
“Dammit.”
He slams the phone down but blinks when he hears a small yelp, turning the phone back around to find the AI looking rather frazzled with their eyes closed and hair all over the place.
“Shit. Are you....okay?”
Great, he was asking an application if it was okay. He could understand why Idia would hide this, right now he felt like he was crazy.
“Y--Yes! It was just unexpected!”
The sprite fixed itself up quickly and smiled back at Leona.
“Are you okay though, Leona-san?”
The dorm leader chuckled and nodded as they set the phone down gently and laid down next to it. At least that part was very much like you, worrying about others before focusing on yourself.
“You’re not going to complain? I almost just threw you.”
Without missing a beat, the AI stands up and looks at him.
“Leona-san is still working hard despite his body telling him to sleep. My program tells me that it would be a natural emotion to feel frustrated if you are not allowed to do something you want. Normal actions of frustration speak of physical manifestations such as kicking, punching or throwing. I was simply calculating it for it to be the latter and for it to happen towards a pillow. I’ll make sure to fix my calculations next time.”
He shakes his head and sets the phone down gently.
“Weird thing. You shouldn’t forgive someone so easily after they wronged you.”
“But you didn’t wrong me, Leona-san. I didn’t feel any pain. I just want to make sure you are feeling your best! You are my number one priority!”
This machine is going to make him go insane, he knows you would never say that but the fact that Idia had gotten your voice down so well that it was almost as if you had just told him he was your number one---
He was already getting a headache.
“Set an alarm for an hour. Ruggie will take around that long anyway.” Leona lays down and wraps the blankets around him.
“Of course. Alarm set for one hour. Would you like to be woken up with a personalized message?”
Leona hummed before grinning.
“Wake me up by calling me ‘King’.”
The sprite fixes its settings before giving a polite bow.
“Yes, my King. Please enjoy your rest.”
After this he would send his report to Shroud and maybe ask for an outfit upgrade. He only needed to show him some Afterglow clothes and the nerd would probably be able to make the AI wear them, right?
Whatever, the moment you came back Leona would make sure that you gave him some headpats for making him wait so long.

TW: Oral, fingering, corruption, unprotected sex, public sex, reader is kinda selfish but in the oblivious way not the malicious way, seonghwa is seonghwa. Honestly I was going for something kinda specific here and i dont think i succeded, its not bad or anything just not what i was going for but i dont think yall will be able to tell hopefully.
The first thing i write in probably well over 2 weeks and its something that nobody but @deja-vux wanted. what can i say? this idea gave me brain rot.
One last thing, this is kind of a part 2 to the corruption kink blurby thing I wrote for Seonghwa (can be found in my master list) but it’s not a direct continuation or anything and you don’t have to read that to get this.
-
Your jaw ached in strain as you held your mouth open, trying to keep your throat relaxed. Seonghwa’s grip was tight in your hair as he thrust his dick shallowly past your lips. The position was altogether uncomfortable. Seonghwa laid across the back seat of his vintage car, back propped up against the door with one knee raised. You were knelt between his thighs, bent over in a painful arch trying to keep still in the tight space. But all of that was inconsequential, the breathy groans and crooked smirk of the man in front of you were enough to drown out the pain.
As his hips pushed into your mouth again, dick sliding further down your throat than before, in a desperate attempt to please the man you did your best to swallow around the long length of his cock although tears pricked in your eyes. His grip on your hair tightened and you looked up just in time to see his head thump back against the glass window followed by another low groan and a face screwed up in pleasure, his normally perfectly styled black hair now tousled and falling into his eyes. Deep satisfaction ran through you.
To your surprise, the hand in your hair yanked you back and off him. You whined at the roughness, despite the way it sent shocks down to your core. Seonghwa’s eyes cracked open to peer down at you with a grin.
“You're getting good at this, princess.” He compliments in his velvet voice. His words elated you and a smile crept onto your lips.
“You’ve come so far in so little time, you could barely take me in your mouth without gagging a month ago, now look at you. You should be proud.” Seonghwa continued, running his hand through your hair once before regaining his grip on it. You practically purred. While you looked back on those first few times with Seonghwa fondly, you much preferred his smooth praises to the harsh words and instructions he gave you before. But you were still glad for them, there was no way you would have come this far this quickly if he hadn’t been hard on you.
Seonghwa’s hand was pulling you back down again before you could voice anything, “come on princess, show me how much you’ve learned.”
Back to work you went. He gave you a tad bit more freedom this time around, not making any move to thrust into your mouth, instead, allowing you to show your newfound mastery of dick sucking. But you kept his preferences in mind, he always wanted to draw things out, to take his time with you. So you began by kissing gently along the red tip, then lapping at the precum that spilled from it. The taste was definitely an acquired one, your face had screwed up in disgust the first time I touched your tongue, but now you sought it out as it meant you were doing well.
Taking the tip completely in your mouth, you hummed as you swirled your tongue around it for a moment before popping off and caressing the underside with a flick of the tongue. Seonghwa hummed in approval, nudging your head forward again in gentle encouragement. You took him into your mouth again, this time hollowing your cheeks and bobbing your head in a firm rhythm. You kept your tongue pressed into the underside of his dick, running along the most prominent vein. Each time you took more and more of his impressive length into your mouth, moaning in satisfaction as you went.
You couldn’t help the way your legs pressed together as more wetness pooled in your underwear. Your mind flashed with the first time Seonghwa had taken you completely. Your body had shuddered as he eased his cock between your legs and into your cunt. It had been uncomfortable sure, and the sensation had been unfamiliar, but Seonghwa had taken care to prepare you enough before ruining you in that way. Your first time had been exceptional needless to say.
You were drawn back to the present by the low growl rumbling out of Seonghwa’s chest as his dick hit the back of your throat, all of him save for the part you had your hand wrapped around for support was now gracefully sliding past your lips. You ventured another look up to his face. He was watching you intently with fire behind his dark eyes. You looked up at him with wide eyes, barely able to meet his strong gaze. His elbow rested on his bent knee and his head was leaning against his hand. If it weren’t for the low sounds he released from time to time you would never be able to tell what you were up to between his legs from his face.
The sudden desire to break his composure overtook you, to make him feel as desperate as the ache between your legs. So as you removed your hand to take his length all the way down into your throat your hips began rocking back and forth, rutting into nothing as your legs pressed tightly together.
“Keeping going like that, and I’ll cum down your throat.” His voice rumbled.
You doubted that. Another thing you had learned about him was that he was unbelievably composed. The kind of restraint that came from much experience. He wouldn’t cum unless he wanted to, his words were only to encourage you. But regardless you took them with glee. Seonghwa had long since discovered that nothing encouraged you more than the thought of his cum, the very reward for your efforts.
Despite his promise, it was several more minutes before he spilled into your mouth, having finally decided that you had sufficiently proven your knowledge. His head had fallen back against the window and he let out a trail of deep groans as he spilled against your tongue. You swallowed it appreciatively, beaming up at him from between his legs, awaiting the praise for your efforts.
When he looked at you again it was with a crooked smile and a gentle hand stroking your hair.
“Well done princess,” he spoke far too casually for having just cum down your throat. His free hand took your hip between his fingers and hoisted you up to straddle his lap. He adjusted to sit normally in the seat and he took a moment to size you up. His gaze burned as his eyes trailed over your body and your legs tried to squeeze together again as another bout of wetness spilled out of you, but Seonghwa’s hips kept them apart. He noticed the attempt, however.
With a smirk, Seonghwa slid his hand into the waistband of your shorts and into your panties. You sucked in air only to release it with a whine as his cold fingers slipped between your folds, releasing the slick into his palm. He chuckled at you.
“Oh what have I done to you,” he started with mock remorse, a small pout painting his features, “only a true slut could get his wet from sucking dick, I suppose I have truly ruined you,” he finished with a wild smirk. Your hips ground into his palm subconsciously.
“Mmmhmmm” you sighed in agreement, absolutely loving when he spoke to you like that, only Seonghwa’s words could ever affect you like that. If anyone else said them it would sound vile.
“Yours,” you added with a hoarse voice, rocking your hips into his still hand again.
“Mine?” He asked, pretending to be confused, tilling his head to the side as if asking for clarification. Though the next words to leave your lips were no surprise to him, as he had taught you them.
“Your slut.”
-
It was getting harder to avoid Seonghwa at school. Not because either of your schedules changed, not because he stopped ditching as much as he did. In fact, those things hadn’t happened at all, it just seemed like they had. It seemed like everywhere you went you saw him. Either sauntering his way through the hallways, gathered with his like-minded friends in the courtyard, or even sitting in the far back of the single class you shared flipping his pen between two fingers as he stared absently out the window.
Once upon a time, before you had seen him as anything more than trouble making pretty boy, it had confused you how he had even managed to be in the same advanced literature class as you and it hard infuriated you when you discovered that Park Seonghwa had the audacity to be smart. Your one-track mind had seen it as a waste for him to have even a shred of intelligence behind his starry eyes when it was clear school was the last thing ever on his mind. But at the time you had pushed the thought aside, thinking that as long as you still stood at the top of the class it didn’t matter.
But when you found it most difficult to avoid Park Seonghwa was when he was leaned against the locker of some pretty face showing that crooked half-smirk that you had become so familiar with. And it caused quite a few unnamed emotions to stir in your stomach each time. Each time you shoved those emotions away before they had the chance to manifest. You had no right to feel them. It was your reputation at stake if the student body discovered that you were Park Seonghwa’s latest pass time, not his. In fact, it would probably gain him a feather in his cap from his crowd if they knew. You and Seonghwa had never discussed the exclusivity of your arrangement, you hardly had the clarity of mind to do so at any moment his gaze was focused on you, so you could never be sure if his velvet words had led him between the legs of any of the pretty faces you saw him with. And you didn’t allow yourself to dwell on it, even though very deeply wanted to know. Once again, you pushed the thoughts from your mind, as long as you still to be with him the most, it didn’t matter what those other people did with him.
But as the school slowly emptied at the end of the day, and you were making your way to the student council room once again (trying your hardest to not remember when he had taken you against a table in there as well) you found Seonghwa loitering in the hallway with a girl leaned against his chest inches away from his face.
You came to a dead stop. The gears of your brain are either unable or unwilling to comprehend what you saw. Why this particular time bothered you so much was a question you could not answer, it was not the first time, nor would it be the last. Normally you would simply turn your head and keep walking as though you had seen nothing, and you had almost convinced yourself to do exactly that when the girl noticed your presence.
“Do you need something?” She spat, clearly from the crowd that thought the student council was all prissy know it all’s, and you had to remind yourself that until very recently that is exactly what you were. But you were also stubborn. You composed yourself quickly and kept your eyes on the girl.
“Unless you have somewhere to be, I suggest you move your groping elsewhere. Somewhere off school grounds preferably.” You called in an even tone, thankfully your voice had not betrayed the way your stomach was churning.
“Come on, don’t be such a prude,” the nameless girl countered. Her choice of words temped you to glance at Seonghwa, but you had a feeling he would be looking at you, which you don’t know if you could handle.
“Trust me, the rest of the student body would be just as grossed out as I am, whatever is going on here is not as ‘hot as you think it is,” you added air quotes around the word for good measure. The girl smirked at you.
“I don’t know, I think they would be lucked to see such a sexy couple.” She retorted, her arms curling around Seonghwas middle. At the word “couple” you couldn’t help it, your eyes flashed to Seonghwa. He had the audacity to look amused as if the back and forth was the best entertainment he had seen all week.
You didn’t like that she used that word. You had absolutely no desire to be in a relationship with Seonghwa, quite the opposite, in fact, it would ruin you. But your mind flashed with the one word you heard him use perhaps most often, “mine.” Granted, you had never called him ‘yours,’ but the experiences he gave you seemed somehow cheapened if he was giving everyone else the same ones. You felt spiteful, what was the point in teaching you all those wonderful things if he could get them elsewhere. Those were the thoughts that spurred on your words.
“I’ll let them know when I find one then.” You deadpanned. It took her a moment to realize what you meant, then her mouth hung open. She looked ready to retort before Seonghwa cut her off.
“Why don’t you go home, leave this conversation to the big kids.” He said, looking at her for the first time since the conversation started. Once again, it took her a moment to realize it was her he was talking to, and then she gapped like a fish. Seonghwa had turned his eyes back to you, not bothering to entertain her shock. Finally, with a huff she stormed off, leaving you and Seonghwa alone in the hallway, locked in a stare-off.
“Kinda slow isn’t she? You can do better than that.” You grumble, crossing your arms over your chest.
“Oh I know I can,” he replied without missing a beat, but the less than subtle once over and the knowing smile he gave you only served to tick you off, rather than flatter you.
“Then why waste your time with her?” As soon as the words came out of your mouth you regretted them. They sounded far too much like jealousy for your taste, and based on the look in his eyes; an invitation as well. Seonghwa’s lean body pushed from the wall and took several long strides towards you, till he stood over you. His hand came to rest all too familiarly on your hip.
“Why? Have something better I can do with my time?” He said, not at all trying to hide his suggestive undertone. You scoffed, in an attempt to keep the burn of his stare away from your mind.
“Your disgusting,” you said, though it came out far less convincing than it sounded in your head. You took a step back from the all-to-magnetic boy. If someone came across you two now, you needed as much distance between him and you as possible.
“Are you going to report me? Madam President?” He replied in a moc disappointed tone.
“As if I adding today onto your record would change a thing. We have a filling cabinet for just you and your friends, Seonghwa. I don’t want to overflow it.” You threw back.
“I didn’t know the student council was such fans of my work.” He replied casually without missing a beat. You opened your mouth to retort but he cut you off.
“Come find me tomorrow night if you're still looking to help me waste time, princess,” he began, turning to grab his bag from the floor, “I think you have a council meeting to get from, wouldn’t want to get in your way of upholding the high standards of the school.” As he spoke he began walking away, only to throw a smirk over his shoulder at his last four words. Leaving you alone in the hallway.
-
You did not find him the next day. You had decided you were upset with him, not because of the girl, you told yourself, but because of the patronizing way he spoke to you. Not that that was different from normal. It just seemed to be the best way to allow yourself to be mad at him without those unwanted feelings worming their way into your brain.
Whether Seonghwa had even noticed your boycott was impossible to tell. He would never come to you, he wanted you to come to him. He never seemed even the slightest bit bothered in the few times you had glanced at him from the corner of your eye. He laughed with his friends without a care in the world and his blank face during class held no emotion besides boredom. You on the other hand, now that was a different story. You had become used to meeting up with him once or even twice a week in various places around town for your “lessons” and you had become “insatiable.” (his word not yours)
Your resolve to be mad at him was cracking as the days went on and was replaced with the need for him. Him and only him. No one else would do.
But in an effort to keep your resolve you threw yourself in the opposite direction, instead, making plans with the Vice President of the student council, a lovely girl named Marie.
Marie was your friend. She chose to use the words “gal pals” from time to time. An airy upbeat girl who rarely let her soft smile fall from her face. And right now, the furthest possible thing from spending time with Park Seonghwa.
So on Wednesday, both you and Marie piled into her silver car and drove off to her house. You both stumbled into her orderly bedroom with a fit of quiet giggles at the expense of several other council members. You shrugged your bag off your shoulders and plopped down onto the plush carpet beside her bed as she did the same.
“Oh my gosh, I feel like I haven’t seen you in forever! Outside of council meetings obviously, I mean, I was starting to think you had found a different best friend and I was-“ Marie started rambling almost as soon as she sat down. You couldn’t help the small smile that found your lips. It’s true you had been neglecting her as your friend for the past month or so, instead of spending time with, well, him. But now that sat in her familiar room, seeing the pictures of the events you had planned together scattered on the walls, the sudden realization that you had indeed missed her was shocking.
“Sorry about that, there was some stuff going on at home, that needed my attention. But now I’m back!” You replied, trying to match her seemingly boundless energy. Her face screwed up in worry at your words.
“Oh no! Is everything ok? Do you want to talk about it?” She asked in her characteristic wide eyes. You shook your head.
“It’s not serious I promise. My parents were just redoing the garden and my mother insisted I be home every day to help planting and stuff.” You continued with the lie you had prepared. It was the same thing you had been telling everyone when they asked about your general absence.
She looked content with your answer, smiling and pulling her binder from her bag.
“So, the basketball game this Friday, I know we have the event mostly planned out but I think that we still need to-“ she started again, going right into her work. And you held up a hand to slow her.
“Woah hold on,” you started with a smile, “we have been planning this game for 2 weeks I think we can take a break tonight. You know? Just hang out a little?” You asked. She looked at you surprised.
“Since when have you ever wanted to take a break?” She asked with a curious glance but it broke into a smile, “come on, it’s the first game of the season and the coach asked us specifically to make sure that the whole school showed up and it runs smoothly. Besides if I do a good job I might just beat you out for president next year.” She said the last part with a low voice and a wiggle of the eyebrows.
But that wasn’t the part of her outburst that surprised you. She was right, when have you ever been the one to want to take a break? Surely you have been indulging yourself too much lately. You recovered your momentary lapse.
“Oh you wish,” you replied with a coy smirk that broke you both down into giggles once again.
The rest of your night was flung into a casual discussion with homework and planning galore.
-
Perhaps there are better places, and there are definitely better times. But since it came down to either the locker room showers or the back of Seonghwa car, at least the showers had more room.
Outside the door, the basketball game was raging on and I likely would be for the next hour. You could hear the school cheering along with the game, and the surprisingly loud squeaks of the player's shoes on the gym floor. Nobody would be coming in here till the game was over, you had until then.
You had been leaning against the sink when Seonghwa walked in. One look at him was all it took for you to be willing to break your streak, it’s hard to be mad at someone when you can’t glance at them without your mind flashing with every dirty thing they have done to you. So the moment he crossed over to you, you flung yourself at him. Your arms instinctively wrapped around his neck when your lips meet his. You could feel him smirking on your lips, but at the moment you couldn’t care less.
Seonghwa’s hands fell to your hips and to your utter dismay he used his grip to gently push your body away from him. A whine pulled from your lips as you looked up at him with pleading eyes. He looked amused.
“Hold on there princess, what’s the rush?” He asked head tiling to the side with a patronizing look. You huff at his words, tightening your arms around his neck you push yourself flush against him again.
“The rush is that I haven’t had time to see you all week and I’m going insane.” You convey in a tone that clearly says ‘shouldn’t this be obvious?’ Seonghwa’s eyebrow raised accusingly.
“Oh, is that what it was? That you didn’t have time?” He asked, though his tone suggested he knew the answer. You could feel yourself blushing, so he had noticed you had been avoiding him. Honestly, you didn’t think he would.
“Because I’m pretty sure I saw you and miss congeniality meeting up every day after school.” You wish now more than ever that you had more experience in the “relationship” field, even if this wasn’t one because you could not for the life of you decipher Seonghwa’s expression. His face was relaxed, showing no sign of anger or disappointment or any other emotion, but his eyes were staring you down with great intensity. But then again, he always seemed to do that.
“Council stuff.” You mumble in reply, trying with all your might to speak as casually as him. At this, Seonghwa gifted you with an expression you understood. Fake surprise.
“Oh, is that what it was?” He began, looking up at the ceiling as though pondering the idea, before looking back to you with that damned crooked smirk. His grip on your waist suddenly tightened. A moment later he had pushed you back against the sink, caging his arms around you.
“Or is it because you were jealous?” He was grinding madly now.
Jealousy. That was that emotion that you had been shoving down all week. How you had not realized it before was a mystery. But to hear it come from his mouth? It made you see red. Suddenly you were far angrier than you had any right to be. Your gaze hardened quickly and you did your best to put space between your bodies, though it was practically impossible with his arms changing you in and head leaning down into your face.
“Do you want to waste time talking, or are you going to fuck me?” You spat. He processed your words for a fraction of a second longer than necessary before he had the audacity to look amused.
“So you were jealous.” He practically giggles, shaking his head and looking down in amusement. The tips of his fluffy black hair brushed your nose and you almost swatted at it. How dare he? You pressed your hands into his shoulders and pushed against him, trying to move him away from you. He allowed you to move him, but not by much, just enough to give you a little room while you fume at him.
If you had the slightest bit of hindsight at this moment, you would have realized your anger was misplaced. You were angry at yourself for feeling that stupid emotion in the first place. But at present, blaming him seemed easiest. And the fact that your anger only served to amuse him made it feel a bit more justified.
“What’s so funny.” You spat, crossing your arms in front of your chest. He peered at you, and your clearly ticked-off demeanor before chuckling. His hands still gripped the porcelain sink behind you and for a brief moment, his hand flexed against the hard surface, holding some unseen emotion in the action.
“You are, princess. For someone so smart I forgot how absolutely clueless you can be about anyone who isn’t yourself.”
You almost stormed out of the room. And you probably would have if it wasn’t for the placement of his arms. But he continued speaking despite your livid expression.
“I was keeping up appearances.” He said in a flat tone. You could now add confusion into the storm of emotions brewing inside you.
“What does that mean?” You said the words with venom but there was a clear tone of lack of understanding in your voice. He, once again, found this amusing.
“Exactly what it sounds like. How would it look for me, if I suddenly started to ignore every advance made on me? Believe it or not sweetheart but I also have a reputation to uphold. Just the same as you. And since your the one who is so adamant that nobody knows about our ‘meetings’ it’s business as usual.”
Realization washed over you like water to a flame, all the rage dissipating just as quickly as it appeared, and your face softened. And then came the guilt. You just basically blew up on the man for doing exactly what you wanted him to, for doing exactly what you were doing by avoiding him. You had never before considered Seonghwa’s reputation in your musings. Your eyes glazed over a bit as you looked down, letting out a quiet “oh.”
You kept your gaze rooted to your shoes, unwilling to look at Seonghwa for fear of what you would see. You jumped when you felt his touch. One hand came to your waist and a gentle caress and the other took hold of your chin more firmly and tilted your head up to his eyes. And to your surprise, a coy smile lay across his features.
“It’s ok princess, your obliviousness was what drew me to you in the first place anyways. You were so caught up in your own little self-centered world you didn’t even notice how badly I wanted you till I had you pressed against the wall. I don’t think this would be as fun if I didn’t have to teach you a thing or two along the way,”
you blushed again at the memory and he slid his thumb against your lower lip. Your mouth parted automatically to wrap your lips around it, lulled into the submissive trace his silken words always put you in. He chuckled at you. “At least now I know you haven’t been messing around with anyone else. You’ve been too busy sulking over me to even notice if any other guys tried to seduce you.”
You hummed around his finger, slightly comforted by the fact he would have been jealous too. His words suggested that he wanted you to himself as much as you felt the same about him.
His thigh was suddenly pressing into your core and the hand on your waist dragged your hips across it. The skirt you wore did nothing to shield your panty-covered cunt from the rough denim of his jeans and your mouth hung open to mewl at him, his thumb still dangling from your lips. He leaned down to whisper in your ear.
“You wouldn’t let any other guys touch you, right princess?” He mumbles though he spoke like he already knew the answer.
You garbled put some kind of agreement as quick as you could. With a smirk, Seonghwa hiked up the fabric of your skirt to expose your damp underwear and lifted you ever so slightly by the waist onto the edge of the sink. There was a sliver of pride in his eyes at the way you spread your legs willing for him, presenting yourself as best you could, just as he had taught you. He pushed the fabric covering your pussy to the side and slide a fringed through the slick that gathered there. And you muffled a whine into his neck as your arms flung over his shoulder.
“I’m gonna have to be quick with you today sweetheart, the game is almost over, but wouldn’t want the whole basketball team to come piling in and see you like this would you.”
You shook your head as best as you could with your face nestled into his collar bones. Your eyes were screwed shut as his fingers continued to glide through your folds, sometimes barely slipping inside you before pulling out. He was working you up with well-practiced hands. He had learned his way around your body much faster than you had learned his, knowing all the ways to make you tick.
“No, this is for my eyes only, right sweetheart?” One of Seonghwa’s slim fingers caught your clit and you gasps, gripping the shirt covering his shoulders. He tutted at you.
“Don’t tell me you've forgotten what all I’ve taught you in just one week. Come on and use your words.” You could feel his words rumbling in his chest for how tight you held him. You were hesitant to pull away, but the edge in his voice urged on. Moving away just enough to let your voice carry.
“Only for you,” you mumble. Despite your quiet tone, you meant the words far more than you anticipated. Seonghwa pushed two long slim fingers inside you at your response, stretching your walls with ease. You gasped at the intrusion and buried your face in his chest again, trying to muffle any noises that may come out of you. There was still a game going on outside after all.
Seonghwa’s fingers arched inside you, brushing against the most sensitive place on your walls and your back arched. You could feel yourself getting louder and louder with every passing moment, but you were still unbearably on edge of being discovered.
“You especially responsive today, maybe leaving you alone for a while has its benefits.” Seonghwa mused into your hair as he worked, pulling even more sounds from you with every movement of his hand. His practiced fingers touched and toyed with you so well, it was impossible to keep quiet.
“No-“ you started in a shaky voice, not wanting to go so long without his touch like this again.
“Only joking sweetheart,” he giggles in your ear. But at that moment he pulled his skilled fingers away from your core and you choked on air. He ran his free hand up your spine in what was meant to be a gentle caress but it sent shivers through your body regardless. Your face stayed hidden against his body, at this point, his body heat seemed to be the only thing grounding you right now.
With your vision obscured there was a brief moment of heated silence where it seemed like nothing was happening, then the distinct sound of a belt clicking open and a zipper being pulled down echoed in the room. You pulled away from his chest and looked up at him with wide star eyes. He was already watching you with a smirk. Your mouth hung open with anticipation. He took in your face with a pleased expression, one hand coming down to cup your chin and tilt your head further up.
“I love it when you look at me like that,”
As soon as the words ended Seonghwa was crashing his lips onto yours and without missing a beat he thrust his length into your cunt in one quick movement. You were suddenly very thankful for the kiss, as it did well to muffle the cry ripping pst your lips. His grip on your hip was like iron as he began to set a pace. Each time pushing if possible even deeper inside you. You forced your legs to spread wider as your hands clawed down his back. Each time he filled you completely your body twitched as he brushed over your most sensitive spot.
Seonghwa still held your chin tightly in his palm, keeping your lips locked in a heated kiss. He seemed to be timing the kiss with his thrusts, which meant it was incredibly fast. He was kissing you as though he wished to devour you whole and at the moment you wanted nothing else but to allow him. Every few minutes the kiss would break as you both panted for air before it resumed with that same fervor.
Quite suddenly it became all too much, you were melting into him. Every stroke of his dick against your pulsing walls felt like fire shooting through your body in the best way, making you twitch uncontrollably. Your body acted of its own accord, hips bucking to meet his with every thrust and your hands grasping wildly against his back, trying to bring him impossibly closer. Several times you tried to break the kiss just to moan but his mouth chased yours and swallows up the sounds before they could escape.
And the kiss was something else entirely. You had kissed the man before but never like this. This felt so raw and unyielding. Every swipe of his tongue against your own felt like an invitation or a promise, for what you did not know. All of a sudden it felt entirely too intimate, too real. The kind of kiss reserved for true lovers in a moment of passion, not two teenagers fucking in a bathroom. But you couldn’t break away, not that you wanted to.
A gasp rang through the room. And in a moment that felt not unlike plunging into a freezing ocean, you realized that it had not come from you, or Seonghwa for that matter. Seonghwa had stilled to a halt inside you from the moment he heard it. He abruptly broke the kiss, sidestepping just enough that his broad back blocked the exposed parts of your body. But you couldn’t focus on the surprisingly chivalrous way he had protected you from sight, or the way he was mumbling under his breath as he righted himself and his clothes before doing the same to you.
No, your eyes were locked on the door. Where a mortified-looking Marie stood with her mouth hung open.

chapter one
Tumblr media
A knock on your door as you get ready for classes isn’t unheard of. It’s the demon who greets you that’s the surprise.
“Levi? Come in,” you say, ushering him in and shutting the door.
He’s put himself together today. Every button is done up and his shirt is neatly tucked—even his pants have a sharply ironed crease to them. His hair, usually messy and in his face, is combed back with not a strand out of place.
“You look nice.” It’s hard to keep the shock and skepticism out of your voice, but you think you manage given the way his cheeks darken.
“I was thinking about the meeting,” he says to the ground. “About my work with the navy and stuff.”
You turn to rummage in your drawers for a tie, gesturing for him to continue. Levi doesn’t do well with eye contact and conversations are always easier for him if you’re not looking at him. His voice is stronger when he speaks again.
“It’s not something I really talk about, you know? But I am proud of it. And I just thought maybe I should, like, try to put more of it in my life? I don’t know if I’m making sense.”
“You are.” There’s the damn tie you want. You flip up your collar and start to put it on.
Levi huffs when your fingers fumble the knot. “Let me?”
The offer stuns you both, especially when he takes the offending fabric away from you. You risk a glance at him to make sure he isn’t about to pass out. His face is a startling cherry color, but there’s determination in his eyes.
“I feel like I’m cosplaying myself actually,” he says with a laugh. “Maybe I’ll hate it today. I mean, the others are going to make a huge deal over it.”
“You’ll have your Henry to back you up,” you assure him as he finishes a perfect knot.
“Th-thanks.”
Levi moves out of your space just as quickly as he stepped into it. He seems to breathe a bit easier once you’re no longer sharing air. Grabbing your bag from your desk, you catch sight of the schedule Diavolo sent you last night.
“You know you don’t have to do this for your appointment, right?” you ask carefully.
His face falls at the reminder. “I’m not doing it for that. Though, of course, they put me up first. I’m the one they probably think needs the most help—“
You give his sleeve a sharp tug. “Hey, knock it off. It’s just the way the schedule worked out. You know, the one that I made?”
Levi seems even more crestfallen than ever.
“Leviii,” you draw his name out. “I scheduled it like this because you have that event later this week, remember? You told me you’ve been waiting forever for season two of The Panopticon’s Revenge to drop and you wanted to see how fast you could speedrun it on your first playthrough!”
“Oh. Yeah, I forgot that’s coming out,” he mumbles, all bluster taken out of him.
You tug on his sleeve again, careful not to make sudden skin contact. “Come on, we’re gonna be late for breakfast.”
True to form, his brothers do make a big deal out of Levi’s look. Well, Beel’s too busy eating and Belphie’s still asleep, so it’s just the Terrible Trio to cause a fuss. Lucifer, predictably, has already left.
“Levi, you should’ve told me last night you wanted to do this!” whines Asmo. “I have a gel that would be great for your hair.”
The demon in question focuses harder on his toast.
Mammon shakes his head. “Don’t know why ya wanted to dress up, though. It’s just RAD.”
“It’s not a crime to want to look nice, dummy,” shoots back Asmo with a glare.
“It’s not just RAD, though. Am I right?” asks Satan over his book.
“Oh, you got that meeting today? Damn, you’re not gonna impress ’em just by combin’ your hair.”
You carefully set down your water glass so it makes an audible thud against the table. “Gentlemen, that’s enough.”
Levi flashes you a relieved smile.
Beel passes a plate of shadow hog bacon across to the third-born. “Here, you’ll want protein so you’ve got enough energy if you’re staying late today. Just carbs won’t be enough.”
Peace is restored to the dining room and breakfast doesn’t end in bloodshed. Some days, it’s all you can ask for.
After your Devildom History class, Levi pulls you aside.
“Come with me?” he pleads. “Idon’twannagoalone.”
You’re exhausted and have a mountain of homework (thanks, Professor Marchosias, for the 30-page potions essay), but Levi’s luminous eyes stare at you with desperation. His shirt is untucked and it looks like he’s been running his hands through his hair.
“I get first character pick when we play Ascendance next?” you barter.
It’s always a struggle when you play together because both of you want to be the dragon knight and neither of you handles defeat very well. You’d go with him regardless, but he’ll feel less bad about it if you’re getting something out of it. And you really want to practice this combo you saw online.
“Absolutely!” cries Levi. “I’ll even let you win just please, please come with me—“
Your glare stops his relieved rant in its tracks. “You better not ‘let’ me win, Leviachan, or I will spoil the series end of Primeval Throne before you can catch up.”
“MC!”
You slip into an empty classroom (pulling a stuttering Levi behind you by the sleeve) and dig a comb out of your bag. He takes you pushing him into a chair with surprising grace.
“It is very lucky Asmo slipped a jar of gel in my bag, hmm?”
Levi yelps when you start to brush the comb through his tangled hair. It’s not too badly messed up, but you can tell he didn’t use anything stronger than water to slick it back. The gel works well with his hair, just as Asmo said.
“You made sure it’s not anything, I don’t know, weird, right?” asks Levi nervously.
“It’s got glitter in it and is charmed to dye your hair pink,” you deadpan.
“What?!”
You tap him on the head with the end of the comb. “Chill, Levi. It’s just gel, I swear.”
Once he’s put back together, Levi huffs and straightens his shoulders. He adamantly refused your help with his rumpled clothes.
“It’s just a meeting, not a battle,” you say, following him out the door and across campus.
Levi hums. “I mean, it kinda is? A battle with myself, I mean. Plus, it helps to think of it like a battle in a game or something.”
His insightfulness isn’t new to you, but the sentiment rattles around your brain while you walk. He’s not wrong. You’ve done enough therapy back in the Human Realm to know that. Sometimes you have to fight your own demons to make progress. Pun hopefully unintended.
“Ah, Grand Admiral, you’re right on time,” greets a tall demoness when you both enter the designated room.
It’s probably usually used as a lounge of some sort given the couches and small kitchenette. A host of runes glow as you shut the door behind you. Levi rounds on the stranger, tail flickering in and out of existence.
“Just privacy and security,” she assures him, hands raised with a gentle smile. “Duke Barbatos oversaw their implementation himself.”
Levi calms when you rest a finger on the back of his arm. “Sorry, just wasn’t expecting it.”
“Not at all. Please, be seated.” She gestures at the couch across from her. “MC, you’ve come to join him?”
You nod, sitting down and pulling Levi with you. She looks to your friend for confirmation or acquiescence—though it’s hard to tell from the polite smile she keeps.
“I wanted company,” says Levi after a moment.
“Perfectly fine.” She nods. “How about I introduce myself a bit and we can get started?”
A tray appears with a wave of one clawed hand. Small pies and cookies are arranged delicately around a contingent of drink options.
“There are savory and sweet options,” she continues, choosing a soda you’re familiar with from back home. “They should all be human-safe, but maybe stay away from the purple juice? I think it has nightshade in it.”
“Beel’s going to love you,” you say, laughing when Levi nods solemnly.
She smiles, this time a little bigger and less practiced. “I look forward to meeting him. Now, my name is Yoraissa. There’s a long and complicated version, but I went by ‘Rissa’ when I studied in the Human Realm. You’re free to call me whichever you’d prefer.”
“You studied in the Human Realm?” asks Levi. His eyebrows (no longer hidden by his hair) shoot upwards.
Rissa nods. “I attended a human university for my psychology degree about five years ago. I’m still a licensed doctor in the country I studied in, actually. There are a few clients I meet with topside, though much of my practice is dedicated to demons.” She pauses to let that sink in and takes a sip of her soda. “After I got my degree there, I came back to get my degree in demon psychology.”
“There’s a difference?” Levi reaches for flavored water, passing you one without asking.
“Of course,” replies Rissa. “Not only are we different physically, but mentally as well. I won’t bore you with the technical jargon, but even the way we use our senses or process emotions is different.”
You bite down on the urge to grill her for more information. This is meant to be about helping Levi—not satisfying your curiosity. Rissa, as if sensing your intrigue, shoots a grin at you.
“I have a couple of books I can recommend on the topic if you want.”
“That would be great,” you reply. As long as you can keep Satan from thieving them.
Rissa taps one delicate claw to the dark skin of her cheek. “A final thing to note is that, by birth, I am a succubus. I don’t use my more…traditional powers when meeting with clients, but I am attuned to ambient moods. This means I will pick up on deception and hesitation, so lying won’t be any good with me. On a more positive note, I will know if we start to hit topics that are a little raw and I will know when to start backing off.”
Levi shifts uncomfortably next to you, though you think it’s about her powers more than her heritage. He told you offhand once that his second-in-command is actually an incubus under Asmo’s domain.
“Useful,” you supply when he doesn’t say anything.
“In my line of work?” Rissa laughs, showing off fangs that almost glow in contrast to her deep skin. “Most definitely.”
She caps her soda and faces Levi directly, though her eyes focus on the tablet in her lap. “I want to get a grasp of you as a whole for this first session, okay? So we’ll just be covering some basics and anything you want to talk about.”
Levi nods. “Okay.”
They run through the story of the brothers’ fall, sidestepping the topic of Lilith. Rissa furrows her brow when he avoids talking about his sister and makes a note on her tablet. Part of you wants to let her know she’ll probably make that same note seven times over.
“You were in charge of the Celestial Navy?” she asks.
“Yeah.” Levi looks down at his fingers and starts picking at the polish. “Back then, we had a lot more battles and assignments, so I was constantly busy.”
“Not anymore?”
He shakes his head. “No, not since the Accords were signed.”
Your Realm Politics class covered this a bit at the beginning. The Accords are a treaty signed by both the Celestial and Infernal Realms. Basically, it boils down to a peace treaty, though there are some sections dedicated to inter-realm travel and visitation. Diavolo used it as the basis for the exchange program.
None of the brothers have used the clause stating they are allowed short visits upstairs, as far as you’re aware. Not that that’s very surprising.
“What do you usually do now?” asks Rissa.
“Video games, anime, manga…” Levi shrugs. “I still run the Infernal Navy, but it’s not as time-consuming.”
“Do you want more to do in your official position?”
“No!” he objects. “That would mean another war a-and more violence and death and—“
You press your thigh against his. “Deep breaths, Leviachan,” you murmur into his ear.
Rissa shoots you a thankful look as his breathing calms and the flush vanishes from his face.
“I just… Everyone does stuff, you know? Even Mammon’s got his greed demons to manage and Belphie’s got the sleep paralysis department. What do I have?” Levi digs his hand into his hair.
You weren’t aware of this department Belphie has, but you plan on figuring out what the hell that is all about.
Rissa hums. “You don’t consider running the navy to be something?”
“I mean, not really? Besides training, diplomatic missions, cargo escorting, and patrols, there’s not really much.”
“That sounds like a lot to me,” she replies neutrally.
Levi shrugs again.
“Don’t each of you oversee a punishment level?” you ask. “Like, the sins and all that?”
“Technically, yeah. Mine isn’t really a lot of work, since it’s just, like, literally burning hot tombs. People in my circle are locked in them—kind of like coffins, I guess.”
You blink. Demons, right. It’s not the horrifically hot coffins that are the issue, but the lack of work involved with them.
A clock on the wall chimes the hour, signaling the meeting is over. Rissa finishes her soda and holds up a finger.
“There’s some reading I want you to take a look at, Leviathan,” she says. “It’s from the Human Realm, but I think it’s close enough to be relevant. A lot of soldiers can feel listless after returning home from battle, especially if ‘home’ has changed dramatically. It’s just a couple of articles, nothing too technical or dry, I promise.”
Levi presses his thigh more firmly against yours but nods anyway.
“I’ll email them to you. I see you later this week, right? With Mammon?” confirms Rissa.
A long, pained groan comes from the demon next to you.
Rissa joins in when you laugh, the sound as melodic and enchanting as you’d expect from a lust demon. “Don’t worry about having read the before then—just before our next individual session, okay?”
You both thank the demoness for her time and stand to leave.
“MC? Can I have a second? I just wanted to pass on those book titles to you.”
You wave Levi on, shutting the door behind him. Rissa scribbles frantically on a notepad.
“I had a second reason for keeping you actually,” she confesses.
“I figured,” you say, rubbing the back of your neck. “If it’s about me being here, I’m sorry, it won’t happen—“
Rissa glances up and shakes her head with wide eyes. “No, no. You misunderstand me. I was going to ask you to attend whatever sessions they feel comfortable having you at.”
You jolt a little at her insistence.
“I did some research into the brothers,” she says. “Admittedly, there isn’t much. There’s even less on Prince Diavolo and Duke Barbatos, of course. But I do know that all this change in them the Realm has seen over the last few months has been due to your influence. You are a large part of their lives.”
“I’m not sure how much I would attribute it to me.”
Rissa pins you with a no-nonsense look. “Leviathan was one of the ones I worried about the most in terms of getting him to open up. You calmed him down and kept him on track. This whole program was your brainchild. And, forgive my frankness, but it’s about damn time.
“MC, I’ve seen enough at events and in public to know just how much they rely on you. Today’s session only underscores that. Just being here would do a lot. I’m not saying you have to be at every meeting, but if they ask…”
Your face twists a bit under the heavy responsibility this throws on you. She’s not wrong. The past few months have been an exercise in guerrilla counseling and peacekeeping. Still, the idea sits wrong on your tongue.
“What about doctor-patient confidentiality?” you ask. “Or private things they don’t want me there for?”
“There will always be the option for them to ask you to step outside,” she assures you. “And you’re the last person that would betray their confidence, I think.”
Again, she isn’t incorrect.
Rissa jots something else down on the notepad before ripping off the page and handing it to you.
“The last one is a spell you can cast at the start of each meeting. It works similarly to the runes on the door but needs to be applied each time. Nothing said in the hour that follows will be discussed without the focus of the spell’s consent. I have the runes because it’s a tasking spell to cast for me, but your power levels shouldn’t be affected like mine are.”
She lays a gentle hand on your shoulder. “Think about it. That’s all I’m asking.”
You agree despite your reservations before bidding the demoness goodbye and joining a quiet Levi.
The first session of therapy is always difficult. Much of the “getting to know you” stage involves disclosing painful events or topics without much in the way of treatment. Like treating an infection, sometimes you have to open the wound again to drain the sickness out.
Levi lets you hold his hand on the walk back home. You choose the elven mage when he boots up Ascendance.
Lucifer doesn’t appear for dinner. You’ve stopped expecting him to.

All I Wanna Be Is Somebody To You
A Jason Todd x Reader One-Shot
Word Count: 2.6K Warnings: None
Author's Note: For the one anon who wanted a nervous reader! I hope I did this justice for you, darling! Enjoy! -Thorne
**********************************************************************
She didn’t hate talking. Not really. But the idea of holding conversations with people she didn’t know sent her heart fluttering and her throat tightening until it was impossible to breathe. More often than not, she found herself apologizing a lot for the stuttering or the repeating of things she said. Most people gave her odd looks, told her to stop apologizing so much (like that ever helped anyone), or laughed and told her she was cute—which was nice until she realized they meant in a childish sort of way rather than an endearing one.
But it wasn’t always like that. According to her parents, there’d been a time when she couldn’t stop talking. Always had something to say and had somebody to tell. Something changed during her years, she knew when, even if she didn’t want to admit it to herself or her family when they asked what happened to their outgoing and talkative daughter. Too many times she’d heard, “You know no one cares about X, right?” or “Oh my God, will you shut up?” and every time she heard it from a friend it dug into her a little deeper, made her shut her mouth tighter, and tore her heart much harsher.
And because she chose to be the silent type instead of the outgoing one, people assumed her arrogant and cold, distant and rude, and she found herself spending most of middle school and high school by herself. She was glad when graduation came, and while she’d dreaded giving her valedictorian speech, she did manage to get through it without too much trouble. It did feel like her one triumph against everyone who ignored her throughout school.
College freed her. Allowed her to make a flexible schedule, take smaller classes, and be solitary when she wanted. She’d refused a dorm room on the campus, living only fifteen minutes from Gotham University, instead choosing to commute daily and she liked it a lot more than having roommates in a four-bedroom apartment on the school grounds.
When she wasn’t in class, she stayed home a lot. It came with being a homebody, but when she did go out into the great big city, she liked to shop. Little antique shops or bookstores. She went to bookstores more than she did school. There was something so wonderful about finding a book in the shop and sitting down at a café and reading quietly. Which is how she met him, and for the life of her she couldn’t figure out why he wanted anything to do with her. She was quiet and shy, and he was open and flirty. They obviously didn’t match in any way, shape, or form. At least, that’s what she thought.
***
She drew her gaze along the wall of books before her, chewing on the inside of her cheek as she searched for the novel. It’d been a long time since she’d read The Count of Monte Cristo, a copy of her father’s that he’d had when she was just a child. Something had reminded her of it the other day and all she could think about was getting her own so she could annotate in the margins.
As she came across it, she started reaching when someone got to it first, one finger pulling it out by its spine before taking it into their hand. She visibly deflated with a soft sigh as it was the last copy and hung her head in defeat.
“I’m sorry, were you wanting this too?” Her head cocked up and she gazed at the young man before her. He smiled and she felt like she’d been shot in the chest at how dazzling it was. “Here, you can have it.”
Swallowing thickly, she shook her head, “You got it first.” Nodding, she added, “It’s yours.”
He cocked a brow at that. “Well, from the devastated look on your face, doll, you want it to be yours.”
Her cheeks warmed at that, and she felt nervous where she stood, resisting the urge to fidget under his scrutiny. “N-no it’s okay.” She said. “You take it.”
“Oh no you don’t. That’s not how this works.” He chuckled and took her hands, pressing the book into them, then he winked at her. “The doll deserves to have her book.”
If there had ever been a time in which she wanted to explode from embarrassment, it was then, and before she knew it, she shoved the book back into his arms and so hard that it must’ve knocked the wind out of him because he gasped. She spun around and took off down the aisle and out the front doors as fast as she could, wanting nothing more than to disappear in the crowded streets. That or sink into the ground. Maybe next week she’d come back and get the book. Hopefully, he wouldn’t be there again.
***
Then again, her hopes were always wrong, and she picked up the copy of The Divine Comedy, flipping it open to read the first page.
“I see you’re a fan of the classics, aren’t you, doll?”
She snapped the book shut when she heard his voice and looked over at him. Something inside annoyed her at the cocky smirk he wore, much more was the arm he had resting on the top of the bookshelf as he gazed at her.
“You know, you left a nice bruise on me the other week.” He quipped, shifting his weight to cross his ankles. “You’re pretty strong.”
“Thank you,” she muttered, turning to look back at the book. “Sorry I hit you…it was an accident.”
“Well, I can accept your apology if you tell me your name.”
“Why?” she questioned quietly, wiggling her toes.
“Because I wanna put a name to such a cute face. Why else?” he flirted, and she scowled at the book cover. “Oh, that’s an even more adorable face.”
“Quit doing that!” she hissed. “It’s not funny!”
He chuckled. “Oh contraire, it’s actually hilarious.” He took a step towards her. “I’m Jason, by the way.”
Her eyes darted to the outstretched hand, and she stared at it for a split second before softly shaking it. “(Y/N).” she murmured.
Before she could pull her hand back, he raised it and pressed his lips to her knuckles. “Enchanté ma chérie,” he professed, breath hot against her skin and just like before, she was so absolutely flustered she was yanking her hand back and poor Jason’s grip slipped, and he whacked himself in the face with his own hand.
“Nice to meet you!” (Y/N) yelped and scurried off down the aisle and to the register where she purchased her book in record time. Third time was the charm and she prayed that he wouldn’t be there again.
***
And whoever lived upstairs must’ve really had it out for her because she flipped the page in her One Thousand and One Arabian Nights and heard an exaggerated cough. Looking up through her eyelashes, she saw Jason standing there with a grin on his face. “Hello (Y/N),” he purred, and she immediately felt her cheeks become hot.
“Hi Jason,” she muttered, gazing at her book, listening to the chair screech as he sat down across from her.
“How are you doing today?” he asked, setting down his own copy of Arabian Nights.
(Y/N) cleared her throat, finding it harder to focus on the book over the smell of his woody and oriental cologne. She thought she smelled a twinge of tobacco with it. “I’m fine.” Her eyes found his teal ones for a moment. “And you?”
He smiled, making her heart pick up a beat. “Doing pretty good.” He winked. “I got to see you again. Though I’m hoping I don’t get hit again. Either by a book or my own fist.”
“Sorry…” she cringed, sinking down in her seat. “That was an accident.”
Jason shrugged and propped his elbows on the table, placing his chin on his fingers. “Don’t worry about it. Say, do you like coffee?”
“I do,” she murmured.
“Great, want anything from the café?” he asked, nodding at the board and she looked over at it.
“I guess I could order a latte,” she replied more to herself than him, starting to pull her wallet out.
“Nah, I got it.” Jason said, standing from his seat.
(Y/N) blinked. “Wait, what?”
“I said I got it.” He quipped and she jumped from her seat to stop him, but caught the leg of her chair, and she flailed, stumbling right into Jason. They went tumbling to the floor and she landed atop him. For a minute they were both stunned silent as the people in the store looked at them and he smirked at her. “Well, this saves me the trouble of asking you out to dinner.” He winked again. “Should’ve told me you had a bold streak, doll.”
She immediately scrambled up, placing one of her hands on his chest to shove off him when her leg slipped, and her knee went into his groin. He groaned and rolled over, holding his crotch and (Y/N) was so mortified all she could do was apologize profusely and at one point she was sure she was mixing up her words, but it didn’t matter. Grabbing her things, she started running off a third time.
Though she’d made it ten feet out of the door and down the street before someone grabbed her round the waist and hauled her to a stop. “Oh no! We’re not doing this pattern again! I am not getting hit a fourth time!”
(Y/N) spun in his arm and gaped at him. “I’m sorry!”
Jason sighed heavily and lowered his head. “Holy crap, I’ve never had such a hard time getting a girl to go out with me.”
“You wanna go out with me?” She pointed to herself despite her flustered state. “W-with me?” she gave him a dubious look. “Really? M-me?”
“Well, if you wanna hit me a fourth time to be sure, go ahead, but yeah,” he retorted then heaved another sigh. “Jeez, talk about getting hit on.”
(Y/N) spluttered at that. “I did not hit on you!”
“Right, you just hit me instead.”
“It was an accident! And I said I was sorry!”
Jason grinned at her and arm away. “Well, I’ll accept your sorry’s if you go on a date with me.”
She blinked at him. “A date? When?”
“Tonight.” He said. “There’s a bookstore down in the town square for insomniacs. Open until seven A.M. and serves a mean cup of hot cocoa.” Jason smiled and took her hand. “So? How ‘bout it, doll? Wanna go out with me tonight?”
All she could do was simply stare at this gorgeous man that obviously had a thing for her for some god forsaken reason. “Why?” she asked blankly, and he seemed to falter at that.
“Why what?” he repeated, confusion etching across his face.
“Why do you wanna go out with me?” (Y/N) gestured to herself. “I’m weird.”
“So am I.” he agreed.
“I stutter a lot.”
“So does my brother.”
“I don’t talk a lot. I don’t like talking a lot. People get mad at me when I talk a lot and I prefer to listen and you’re not going to like going out with me because I’m going to be super quiet because I get flustered easily and I—”
Jason put his hand over her mouth and stared at her. “Do you ever take a breath?” she nodded silently, and he sighed. “Look, (Y/N), it’s only taken getting shoved in the stomach with a book, getting punched with my own hand, and getting nut-shot to understand that you’re not exactly comfortable with the public.”
He removed his hand. “That’s why I invited you to the bookstore. Because even in the few weeks we’ve known each other, I know you like quiet places. But if you don’t feel comfortable going with me right now, that’s okay. We can take it slow.” Jason smiled at her. “Doll, all I wanna be is somebody to you.”
(Y/N) swallowed thickly and looked at her feet, whispering, “I…don’t wanna go out right now…but I’d like to give you my number…if you’re okay with that?” she shrugged. “We can text.” Feeling hopeful she reached out and placed her hang on his arm. “And get to know each other better? Maybe tell each other our favorite books? That’s…the best way in my opinion.”
His face lit up and he murmured, “I’d love that.” He pulled out his phone, tapping at it before he handed it over to her. “Here you go.”
She took it and looked at the contact name he’d already put in. My Flustered Doll. She glared at him. “You think you’re pretty cute, don’t you, Jason? You’re not. At all.”
He smirked. “Oh, is that so?” She nodded and he quipped, “We’ll just see about that then.”
(Y/N) rolled her eyes and typed in her number, handing him back his phone. “There you go.” He glanced at it, seemingly satisfied before he locked it and put it back in his pocket, then they met each other’s gazes and she awkwardly pointed over her shoulder. “I’m going home now.”
Jason caught her hand and kissed the back of it. “See you later, doll. Stay cute.”
She was hurrying off again, his laughter in her ears, unaware that their exchanging of numbers was going to evolve into so much more in the coming months.
***
“—And I’m pretty sure I can never show my face again at school, Jay. I’ve never been so embarrassed in all my life.”
He hummed, fingers gently dipping into her spine. “Well, this is coming from the girl that nut-shotted be in the middle of a busy bookstore.”
“Why would you remind me about that?” (Y/N) scowled. “It was an accident.”
“And yet it can’t be more mortifying than telling a guy to shove his head up his ass.” He retorted, eyes still closed as they basked in the sunlight streaming through the window. “This is at least a five on the ten scale.”
“More like a hundred.” She muttered, tucking her head under his chin. “I can’t believe I said that to him. Oh, I was just so—just so mad at what he said about my poem! He was just being mean!” (Y/N) gripped his sweatshirt. “You understand right?”
Jason nodded, his other hand resting at her hip. “Mhm.”
“You don’t think I’m overreacting, do you?” she frowned. “Everyone else thinks I am.”
“Telling someone that their poetry isn’t good because it isn’t iambic pentameter isn’t following constructive criticism, doll. It’s called being a douche.” She giggled and he bent his neck, pressing a kiss to her forehead. “Call me next time Lord Douche-Canoe starts on your poetry again and I’ll school him on face-time.”
(Y/N) giggled again and rolled over, pressing them chest to chest and she grinned when he whined at her moving. “Thank you, Jason.”
He smiled at her. “I only take my thanks in kisses. Sorry, doll.”
Rolling her eyes, she bent down and pressed her lips to his. “I love you,” she murmured against him, and he hummed, hands grasping her hips.
“I love you more.”
“Nonsense.”
“Nonsense?” he scoffed, pulling back to look at her. “I am willingly in a relationship with the girl who nut-shot me in—MMHPF!”
(Y/N) shoved a pillow into his face, face hot as she shouted, “Stop bringing that up! It was an accident!” All she got in return was his laughter.

What are ur thoughts on dilf deku 👂
My thoughts are: I want him in my guts immediately.
No, uh… uh… uh……………..
(also let me just briefly point you in the direction of this post by @/saintdabi... because i’ve been reading it like a lullaby every night and i share a lot of the same vision.)
(warning: your gender is not mentioned but accidents + paternity leave are)
-
Dilf!Deku… I think, a lot like Bakugo, is one of the last people in his class to have kids. I think he probably doesn’t even think he’ll have them for a good portion of his career, too. He loves all his nieces and nephews, of course, but I see it being this weird longing for him that he really just doesn’t address for a super long time.
In a lot of ways, he’s exactly the same as he’s always been; good natured, smiley, excited yet very on-edge for the grandness of the future... but he’s also sorta different. Calmer, more subdued in his mannerisms (as well as bigger, softer around the middle, HUGE thighs and a different haircut, at least)... I think when you meet it’s this whole thing of like, him being really unprepared for a relationship, not because he doesn’t want one, but because he wants to tread so carefully with you at first.
I honestly don’t see him as the single dad type, so for him, I think there’s two real avenues here... the first one being, having a kid w/ you IS NOT at all planned, and the second one being, having one is OVERLY planned... where either way, he ends up being an excellent father.
Definitely works out some schedule where all office work is done with the baby on his lap, and patrols at times when you’re available for care. He’s so, so sleep deprived the first few months once he’s back from paternity leave, but he refuses to change anything about the set-up that prevents him from being home with you most nights, at least for a little bit.
I think he’s def the dad who takes baby everywhere in a baby sling... like, grocery store, park, parties, etc... your kid probably develops some form of attachment issues w/ him because he vehemently denies the idea of a stroller for way too long.
That’s another thing... he’s WAYYY overprotective. Of you and the baby. Strollers won’t work because what if someone comes and snatches them out of it? Mention going to the store and he’s putting on his jacket, lol. Bakugo and him have like a... protection pact. It’s cute.
Also... every and any milestone he cries at. The first time your kid says “potty,” he’s weeping. First steps, even if they fall over, crying. They outgrow a size, BAWLING. Gotta hold him a little extra those nights and reassure him that growing up is a good thing. It’s only really coincidental that everything has your baby’s picture on it.
In general though, I think he’s a natural girl dad and a trying boy dad. As with everything, I flip flop between which I like better for him, but either way, he’s so supportive of everything they do. Definitely a... lets-your-kid-go-around-in-pajamas-and-bedhead-if-that’s-what-they-want type dad.
I’d say... my only real complaint is he tries to All Might brainwash them the second you allow TV time. What do you mean you don’t want them in another All Might outfit? Is it really the third this week?

Not Mutually Exclusive
[Read on AO3]
Written for @puffdragongirl‘s birthday! Robin has been wanting to read some conference Lyrias crew for years now, and despite my best efforts, I still only managed to get them to the hotel. But at least now I have this conference arc planned out 🤣
The seat belt sign flicks on overhead, its warning plain. Still, Shirayuki can’t possibly sit still for much longer; her phone tempts her, buried in the satchel the flight attendant so cheerfully helped stow beneath the seat in front of her. It would be nothing to reach down, to flip open the bag and hope it’s the only thing that slips out.
Another smiling attendant passes by, and she can’t help it, the temptation’s too great. Shirayuki descends the moment that crisp uniform shows its back, stifling a cry as both her chapstick and her coin purse make a bid for freedom. She stops them with the tip of her toe;. It’s a surgical procedure to nudge them back under the flap while she coaxes her phone out from underneath it, but Opa always said she had steady hands, even if she could never quite decide what to do with them.
The home screen blossoms under her fingers, and with a swipe, the email is right there in stark black and white.
Most importantly, it reads, each word making her pulse spike, please remember that the funding for your trip is coming through a grant from Bergstrom Holdings. It would be best to refrain from mentioning your connections with Wisteria Holdings Ltd., even personal ones.
Her case creaks under her grip. Izana may have a reputation for being inscrutable, but it’s impossible to miss the implication here: act like you have never met my brother, let alone done whatever left those marks on his neck last spring. He’d sent the emails days ago, early enough for it to also mean: and don’t show up with any new ones of your own while you’re at it.
Because that’s what a normal person would assume, wouldn’t they? It’s been almost six months since he’s had Zen flying into Miami on the regular, managing some project of Kihal’s while overseeing the company’s day-to-day operations. Just a few weeks at a time, every hour tightly scheduled, right down to meals and sleep.
But a couple would find some way around it. That’s what Izana expects; he’d tried the same thing when she’d been at Clarines too, heaping club upon club, duty onto duty. And still they’d found a way to sneak in narrow hours, to sacrifice a few moments of sleep so he could slip his hand into hers and look at the stars.
And yet, though the miles between them have shrunk to an hour in Miami traffic, nothing’s changed. She still spends her days split between wet lab and wetlands, writing up grant proposals and collating data into tables. He still takes work lunches and tables discussions, the boots-- or at least, designer shoes-- on the ground for his brother’s interests, making sure that Izana Wisteria’s will is done to the letter, or as close as his conscience allows. They may both look up at the stars, but it’s not side-by-side, fingers tangled to fill their empty spaces.
No, now it’s just texts, maybe a quick phone call if they can squeeze it in between meetings and emails and classes. The sort of catch up she has with Kiki and Mitsuhide, albeit with more days of phone tag. Despite all those years of stressful almosts, he’s gone from being her almost something back into being friends. Just that and nothing more.
It should be disappointing. No, it should be maddening that she put all that effort into becoming the Right Sort of Girl only for it all to fizzle at the finish line. But instead, instead--
Instead, she’s relieved. If they’re not something, then it’s okay to-- to want something else. To maybe glance over at the other end of the couch and wish she could will a look her way. That maybe one day, those cushioned between them might disappear, and he--
“You know--” her seat back inclines, accommodating the way Obi leans over it, grin Cheshire-wide-- “the Big Boss has got a way with words, Doc, I’ll admit it, but they’re going to turn on that No Electronics sign any minute now.”
Shirayuki startles at the sound of his voice, guilt and his grin setting her blood to simmering just beneath her skin. “I know, I know.”
Her cheeks are hot as she fumbles with the screen, stumbling through menus before Obi plucks it out of her hands and sets it on to Airplane Mode with two taps. His smirk is far too satisfied by the time he slips it back in her hands. “There you go, Doc. Now I gotta go make sure none of the other grandmas need help with their Jitterbugs or whatever.”
Her mouth pulls thin. “Are you supposed to be up? I’m pretty sure the seat belt sign is already on.”
“I like to think of that as more of a suggestion than a rule,” he says, dropping back down into his seat. “Really more like a guideline, I think.”
“It’s not.” Ryuu doesn’t look up from where he’s scrolling through the in-flight channels. “They can fine you up to ten thousand dollars for violating a federal aviation regulation--”
“Alright,” Obi sighs wearily, the sound punctuated by a metallic click. “I get it, Little Guy.”
The plane-wide intercom fizzes, and with only a breath of a pause, a woman’s voice warmly greets them. “Welcome to Flight 597 with service from Miami International Airport to New Orleans International Airport. If we could have your attention for just one moment--”
“Hey,” Yuzuri hisses, poking a pointed finger into Kazaha’s side. “Did you hear that? Scroll faster.”
It would be gracious to describe his expression as long suffering. “I’ll have you know I’m going at the perfect pace.” Her finger stretches out toward him again, aiming for an even softer span of belly, but Kazaha catches her, slapping her hands away with all the strength of a breeze. “Some of us are actually trying to read the pdf, not use it as a Denny’s menu.”
There’s a noise Yuzuri makes, something that lives between a scoff and screech, and when she looses it in the cabin, soulless plastic casing amplifying the sound, it’s...a lot. They are a lot. “Shows what you know, you bougie freeloader. A Denny’s menu would never have so many words.”
“Ah.” It’s strange how Kazaha sounds in pressurized space; his typical unearned confidence sloughs off his words, leaving them tinny and small. “I wouldn’t know.”
When it comes to minding her business, Shirayuki operates on an expert level-- it comes with the territory of waking up to a house full of strangers every morning-- but the two of them are testing her skills. Yuzuri and Kazaha are like parallel lines, traveling in the same direction at the same speed but on utterly different levels, never meant to cross. And yet here they are, cozened up to each other, sharing the same screen.
It’s odd enough to even draw Izuru’s attention, her neck craning around her seat until she can half-look Kazaha in the eye. “You know, you don’t have to read all the talks right now. They are gonna shove copies at us the second we get through the doors.”
“And this is one of the biggest conferences in the field,” Suzu adds, a little too eager. “The thing’s going to be as big as a phone book.”
“I can’t possibly wait that long,” Kazaha snaps waspishly. “I have to visualize my schedule before we get there, otherwise I won’t know how to properly allocate my mental reserve.”
Yuzuri pulls back from his shoulder, nonplussed. “Do you like, even hear yourself? Or does all that just come out with no peer review?”
“Ah, a rebuke that might sting if it wasn’t coming from someone whose brain-to-mouth filter was perforated at birth.”
“At least my parents didn’t skimp on getting the stick surgically removed from my--”
“You know, Yuzuri,” Shirayuki starts, desperation pitching her volume loud enough to draw their stares. “It’s so impressive you’re planning this early. I didn’t even know you, er--” cared about the talks was far too blunt a take-- “had any speakers you wanted to listen to.”
“She doesn’t,” Kazaha informs her officiously. “Yuzuri is not concerned with the content of the talks, but the more, hm, superficial aspects of them.”
Shirayuki blinks. “Like...the quality of the slides...?”
Obi clucks behind her. “Doc.”
“Wha--?”
“Like the hotness of the speakers,” Suzu supplies, so casual. “Yuzuri’s using the schedule as a hook up directory.”
“The pdf is the only one with pictures!” she squawks, barely red at all. “Sue me!”
Izuru snorts. “Someone might, if you pick the wrong fuckbuddy.”
“H-hook up...?” Shirayuki can feel her mouth moving, but there’s no words on her tongue, her entire head empty save for, “But isn’t this an academic conference?”
She swings her gaze to Izuru, longing for some sort of assurance, but instead the woman just reaches across the aisle, patting her lightly on the knee. “The two aren’t mutually exclusive.”
“B-but, we have to work with these people--”
Kazaha chuckles, pressing a hand to his chest. “So innocent, so young. Shirayuki--” he leans over Yuzuri, a smug smirk tugging at his mouth-- “we don’t work with them, we email them. And once or twice a year, we all get in the same room, and a good portion of those highly educated, sometimes even tenured intellects decide to think with what’s in their pants for three to five business days.”
“Oh, please.” Yuzuri shakes her head, the golden stream of her ponytail slapping him across the mouth. It’s a mistake-- it’s not like she could plan that-- but Yuzuri doesn’t look particularly sorry either. “Just tell everyone you’re sour because you can’t get a single breathing human to let you in their pants, why don’t you?”
“I--”
“Kazaha’s right though, man,” Suzu’s disembodied voice informs her somewhere behind her seat. “Everyone hooks up at conferences. Nowhere’s safe! Last year they held it at Lyrias, and let me tell you, there are several bathrooms I will never look at the same way again. Those partitions are not sound proof.”
Yuzuri heaves a wistful sigh. “Maybe I’ll get to have one of those this year.”
“It’s overrated.”
Shirayuki cranes her head around her seat, blinking owlishly at Obi.
“What?” He tugs at his shoulder, shrugging beneath his own grip. “I speak from personal experience.”
“Really?” Yuzuri squawks, too excited. “Did you have to--?”
“Ryuu.” Shidan shifts in his seat, fixing them all with a meaningful look, the sort parents gave wayward aunts and uncles. “Maybe you should put on those headphones.”
“Hm?” He blinks up, eyes impossibly large, making him look years younger than sixteen. “I wasn’t paying attention.”
“Good.”
“I was trying to figure out what a phone book was,” Ryuu admits, forehead wrinkling with curiosity. “Was there an actual, literal book? How would you update it though? They couldn’t just send them out regularly--”
“Excuse me.” Shidan raises his hand, flagging down the flight attendant. “When does drink service start?”
No matter how many times they do the math-- or how many times Suzu enthusiastically points out the flier for a party bus-- there’s no taxi that can fit them all at once. It’s only sensible to split four and four, flag down two vans and pack them to the brim. But still--
“You’re sure you don’t want to ride with us, Ryuu?” There’s hardly any room, but even though he’s been growing like a weed these past few years, he’s still narrow as one. If a dandelion can grow in a sidewalk, they can slip him between Obi and Suzu. “If we squish a little, you could always--”
“I’m fine.” He rolls his eyes to where Yuzuri clambers in, squawking as she stumbles past the two middle seats to the back. “I think riding with Shidan would be safer.”
“Hm, what do you mean?” Shirayuki asks, and she means it, she really does--
Right up until they are barrelling down the highway, the van’s frame shuddering between her feet, and Yuzuri blurts out, “But it’s like wall sex isn’t it? If you fuck in the bathroom.”
Ah. Hm. Maybe she should have gone in Shidan’s car too. They’re probably playing a rousing game of Name That Flora right now.
“Nah.” Obi shrugs, his shoulders broad enough to limn the seat back. “You can’t get good leverage, and when there’s a flat surface, it’s that fake marble shit. No one wants to put their bare ass on that.”
Suzu peeks around the passenger seat. “For like, bacteria reasons?”
“No.” She can’t see Obi’s face, not sitting behind him, but she knows the tilt of his head, the way his muscles bunch around his cheek on one side. “It’s cold as fuck.”
“Well, you’d just do it in the stall, wouldn’t you?” Yuzuri wraps her fingers around the chair back, like if she shakes him, a positive answer might rattle out of him. “Like I said, wall sex. Only easier, since you can brace your feet on the other side.”
Suzu’s forehead furrows. “That sounds hard.”
“Most people have upper body strength, Suzu.”
“No, no.” Obi shakes his head. “Suzu’s got a point. That’s like fifty percent more effort than I want to put into a casual hookup. Plus there’s a non-zero chance that the last asshole to use the pot didn’t flush.”
Yuzuri stares at him. “You can just flush it!”
“I didn’t say I didn’t!” he yelps, squirming away from her probing fingers. “It’s just a real mood killer. One time, I got in there and some guy had --” his eyes glide to where Shirayuki sits, and he makes a strangled noise-- “anyway, there’s no point when there’s beds. Or couches, if you don’t want them in your space or whatever.”
With a roll of her eyes, Yuzuri declares, “What a romantic.”
“You asked,” Obi grunts, hand massaging at his shoulder. “Anyway, if your curiosity is sated, maybe we can--”
“I just don’t understand.” The words fly from her mouth before Shirayuki can stopper them up, turning every eye to her. “Isn’t everyone here to work?”
“Well, sure.” Shirayuki is a connoisseur of patronizing tones, and she can hear this one loud and clear, well-meaning though it is. Yuzuri isn’t precisely talking down to her, but it’s definitely a tolerant tone, the one parents use with particularly smart children. The kind that says, this would be obvious to an adult, but since you aren’t...
“Think of it like this.” Their shoulders bump as Yuzuri leans close, a coy tilt to her smile “All these people are used to being the smartest person in the room, and suddenly they’re with all these other smart people-- maybe people even smarter than them--”
“HA,” Suzu snorts. “Find me a PhD that’ll admit to that.”
Obi grins. “You’d be hard pressed to find a grad student.”
“--my point is, you’re in a hotel filled with people who won’t find it intimidating that you can mark a turtle migratory pattern on a map just by looking at its skull. And it’s once a year, not where you live.” Yuzuri shrugs, as if the math is simple, as if everyone decides these things based on nice faces and opportunity. “It’s not precisely anonymous, but it’s as close as people who live on a grant cycle are likely to get.”
Shirayuki stares. “But it’s a work trip.”
Yuzuri shrugs. “What happens at conference stays at conference.”
The line at check-in winds through the lobby, the tail end of it spilling out toward the bar-- though not close enough according to Shidan’s longing looks. Shirayuki likes to call herself a social drinker-- though with the increased workload at the lab, her opportunities for being social have shrunk to ‘occasional’ at best-- but even she is feeling the siren call of the cocktail. Anything to keep her occupied; her only other option is to join Kazaha and Yuzuri’s game of ‘spot the speaker,’ and, well, she doesn’t have nearly as much interest as either of them. Not when she’s supposed to be looking for another face entirely.
“Hey.” She drags her attention back, right to Obi’s grin. “I think Doc has check-in covered for both of us, so do you guys want something from the bar?”
Kazaha splutters as Yuzuri twists around, her hair flying into his mouth. “Ooh, would you? When they were in Miami there were themed cocktails. I still can’t believe I let Turtles on the Beach get away.”
His eyebrows jump, intrigued. “Can’t make any promises about what they’ll have but I’ll see what I can do. What about you, Doc?” He leans in, placing a hand on her back, and it’s-- it’s shocking to realize how far that warmth spreads, thumb brushing her shoulder blade while his littlest finger rests along the waistband of her skirt. “See anything you want?”
It’s an innocent question, one he’s asked her a hundred times since he dropped into her life unannounced, always the one positioning himself between her and the till, like her greatest threat is buying her own hot chocolate. But today--
Today, a coil of heat unfurls in her gut, slithering south. She wants nothing more than to stop it, than to smother that heat right under her heel and let it smoulder to ash, but she can’t stop it, not even a little. Not now that Yuzuri’s been talking about-- about wall sex, about how nice it is to be held up by big, strong hands like she weighs nothing at all.
And just a few weeks ago that would have been nothing to her, just an entertaining idea for her to trip over the logistics of. But now-- now--
Now she knows how easy it would be to lift her legs, to let her weight become someone else’s problem. How it would be nothing at all for Obi’s heat to press her against the wall and keep her there, his head dropping to her shoulder as his breath skims out over her neck--
“Doc?”
She startles, blinking him back into focus. “Ah, I don’t...have a preference. Anything you think would be good. You know what I like.”
Mischief widens his smile, and oh, that-- that really shouldn’t do as much for her as it does. “Got it. Be back in a sec.”
She doubts it, considering how so many patrons seem to have the same idea. But she can’t complain, not when she clearly needs a minute. Maybe even four or five to give herself a good shake.
“Oh, hey, Shidan!” Suzu swings around to him, the conference guide nearly overflowing from his hands. “You didn’t tell me Garack Gazalt would be at this conference.”
Shidan blinks, staring down at the page. “Ah, yes. She did mention she’d be here later in the week. How did she put it--?”
“‘I have a few irons on the fire that need tending before I can come play,’” Ryuu offers.
Izuru snorts. “And then she referred to the guest of honor as something...impolite to say the least.”
“Ah yes.” One broad hand rubs at his forehead. “That.”
“I suppose that is going to stay at conference this year too?” Kazaha sniffs. “Or will we all get to watch you moon over--?”
“We’ve been over this, there’s is no mooning, we are professional colleagues--”
The line moves-- a whole group must have been checked in at once, considering the sudden void between theirs and the one in front of them-- but Shidan doesn’t. He’s far too caught up with sputtering through his explanation, the slightest hint of pink dusting his ears as he skirts around their undergraduate degrees, and though it’s rude to just leave the space there--
Well, Shirayuki doesn’t want to get involved. She has enough romantic problems without tangling herself up in the complicated, long-distance platonic life partnership of her PI. Or, well, whatever is going on there. She worked with Garack long enough to know that asking questions only leads to more work down the road.
She attempts to skirt around one side of them, hoping that maybe the two of them would pick up the hint, but--
But Yuzuri swoops in, seizing her wrist and dragging her until they nearly trip over the next group’s baggage.
“So,” she hums, too pleased with herself. “What about you?”
Shirayuki blinks. “What do you mean?”
“What are your plans?” Her mouth hooks into a devious smile. “I mean, besides that stuff You Know Who needs you to look into, and like, actually going to these talks for fun or whatever.”
It can be like this, talking to Yuzuri sometimes: like she’s just missed half a conversation. “What else is there?”
“Shirayuki.” Her fingers squeeze around her wrist, warm. “You and that Zen guy are like, done-done right?”
“Ah...” Her feet shuffle beneath her, restless. “I don’t know if it’s really...I mean, nothing’s been said, I just...assumed...maybe...”
Yuzuri scoffs. “Come on, he said goodbye with a handshake. If that doesn’t say over I don’t know what does.”
It would be useless to explain that she’d been the one to hold out her hand, and Zen was ever conscious of the angles cameras could hide, but--
But, well, maybe Yuzuri does have a point. “I...I guess.”
“Right, well, I know.” Her mouth hooks into a triumphant smirk. “And now you’re somewhere where no one is going to expect anything from you. You might as well take advantage right?”
There’s no words that can express how little the idea interests her, not to Yuzuri. “I don’t think...I’ll be doing that.”
“You sure?” Her eyebrow quirks up, followed by her mouth, and oh no, she’s walked into a plan. “Because if you wanted to, I’m sure Obi would oblige.”

INSUFFERABLE l  KIM DOYOUNG
GENRE: mature theme, slight smut
WARNINGS: choking, dom themes, cursing
asshole! Doyoung , enemies to ???
Words : 4k
You’re put in a group project with the most annoying pretentious jerk your law class had to offer. Immediately Doyoung tries to boss you around but you being you, you weren’t taking his shit...soon enough he finds out he can dominate you after all...in a very different way.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Theres no fucking way...no fucking way” you groaned looking at your group project list, eyes narrowing on possibly the worst people within your course year. Slumping in your seat you half smiled at the girl who approached you, one of your fellow members from project hell.
“Heyyy y/n I think we're in a group together” she grinned and took a seat next to you, flipping her red hair over her shoulder and checked herself out in her mirror covered cellphone.
Dami was probably the most narcissistic person you'd ever met and being in law, it was definitely a common trait around here. Dami sat up and began tapping you on your shoulder frantically “He’s in our group! Kim Doyoung is in our group” the two of you watched as the dark haired man conversed with the lecturer, casually turning back to look at the table where you guys sat, in annoyance.
“That guy is such a prick” a guy who slid in the desk behind you, Seungmin said and Dami nodded in agreeance as you all continued to watch him.
“Ive never really spoken to him before” you cocked your head, “What’s so annoying about him?”
This time another group member joined in, a quieter girl who normally sat in the back Jisoo, cleared her throat, “He is really bossy and only likes to do things his own way.”
‘Well he is about to meet his worst nightmare’ you thought knowing nothing pissed you off more than someone telling you what to do.
The muffled conversations around you began to soften as you felt someone stand over you and drop a file on your desk. Looking up, you locked eyes with the one and only Kim Doyoung, dressed in his usual black slacks, black turtleneck and clear rimmed spectacles. He raised his eyebrow at you as if you were supposed to guess what he wanted.
“What ?” you challenged him, folding your arms across your chest and returned an eyebrow raise.
Doyoung sighed in annoyance, his long slender fingers moved across the file and opened it swiftly, “I want you to do roll call” he said coldly.
A lump formed in your throat. You felt like you were being talked down to, it was something that infuriated the hell out of you. He wasn't older than you, nor was he getting better grades than you but somehow he had a superiority complex. Dami quickly nudged you and you rolled your eyes, “Seungmin ?”
“Here!”
“Jisoo ?” you placed a tick as you called out each name.
“Dami, Jangjun…?” you looked around and noticed that the usually loud comedic relief in your classroom was nowhere to be seen.
“I think Jangjun is late, i’ll text him” Seungmin sighed and pulled out his phone. You turned back to the roll call sheet and pursed your lips, “Kim Doyoung ?”
Doyoung just looked down at you, sucking in his bottom lip and raised that damn eyebrow at you again.
“You need to say ‘here’ do you not know how roll call works ?” you tested him and he rolled his eyes and sighed, “here.”
You smiled to yourself, completely satisfied with pissing him off when your internal celebration was interrupted by an out of breath Jangjun, who threw his bag on the floor and took a seat on Dami’s desk. Doyoung looked at him disgustingly, and even though you too were obviously annoyed by Jangjun’s tardiness, was that reaction really necessary ?
“Be on time” Doyoung sneered and grabbed the roll call file making his way back to the lecturer.
“Fuck Kim Doyoung is in this group ?” Jangjun groaned, sharing the sentiments of the entire meeting. You couldnt believe these were the people you had to work with for the week. It's like you could almost feel an outburst waiting to happen, whether it be from you or Kim Doyoung.
Doyoung returned and took out his phone, not really looking at any of you as he spoke, “we should make a group chat to update each other on work”
The group hastily shared each other's details and Doyoung created the chat and pinned a set of three rules.
The first was the group was strictly to be used for the project, no small talk or any other messages that weren't related to the project. The second rule was that no one talks about the group content in private chats as it will cause confusion among members. Lastly you weren't allowed to message after 9pm unless it was an emergency, a very serious emergency.
“Dang is this the military ?” Jangjun snickered as Seungmin and Dami tried their best to hide their laughs. It was typical of people like Dami and Jangjun to not take anything seriously. Their families were well off and they were just studying just for a piece of paper you call a degree. Doyoung couldn't even hide his annoyance, not like he ever did but he seemed particularly pissed off today.
“Look, just follow the rules and all of you get a free pass and then we never have to speak to each other again” Doyoung spat and made his way to the exit leaving the rest of you in utter shock.
———
The first two days were utter hell as Doyoung tried to take control of almost every aspect of the project and frankly you didn't even mind because his business proposal was flawless, it was just the way he spoke to all of you that drove you insane.
“Dami its not fucking rocket science all you need to do is make a clientele spreadsheet with the mock list the professor gave us” Doyoung didnt even lift his head from his laptop, unaware of the impact his words had on her.
Dami pushed away from the desk and her eyes began to well up and before you knew it she was running out of the library, with Jisoo and Seungmin following quickly out of concern.
“Nice move asshole” you rolled your eyes, continuing to work on your laptop.
Doyoung peered up and pushed his spectacles up, “what was that?”
“I said nice move asshole, do you intend to talk to your future clients like that?” He initiated a different kind of anger from you but you managed to keep your cool. Doyoung shrugged as if what he had said to Dami had not carried any weight and continued typing away.
A few minutes of the members disappearance quickly turned to an hour and Doyoung’s nonchalance about the whole ordeal really ticked you off to the point of slamming your laptop closed and pushed back from the desk.
Doyoung quirked his eyebrow at you, “Is something wrong ?”
“Is something wrong” you mimicked him, “Jangjun hasn't come in today because you sent him on multiple errands, and you just made Dami cry over something so ridiculous”
Doyoung sat back in his seat and rubbed his temples, “They're all freeloaders, you and I are the only ones doing work, why do you care so much about them?”
“Basic human fucking decency maybe?” you groaned and ran your fingers through your hair, “listen im not like them, i'm not gonna take shit from you”
“Sure”
“Youre a fucking asshole Kim Doyoung.”
—-
You lay in bed and replayed that scene with Doyoung in your head multiple times. He was so unbothered by your antics nor did he care about anyone's feelings within the group. He was cold, heartless all he thought about was himself. His cold expression was practically engraved in your head, spending all these hours with him was really not your favourite pastime.
Group 7 gc 7:00pm
KDY: I posted a schedule for tomorrow we will be working in pairs on the highlighted sections.
You took a look at his document and groaned when you saw your name placed next to his. There was no way, no way in hell you want to work with him one on one. Not caring about breaking his rule, you pulled up a private chat with him and began expressing your concerns.
y/n  x  KDY : 7:10pm
Y/N: Hi, there's no fucking way in hell am I working with you. Change It.
KDY: I said no private chats and no, I'm not changing it.
Y/N: Wouldn't it be better for us to split and have the others actually DO work for once ?
KDY: I barely gave them room for error, we're going to be the most anyway and besides, I'd prefer someone who can handle...my personality.
Y/N: …..so you agree..you are an asshole ?
KDY: I give people a reality check that's all..
Y/N: whatever makes you sleep at night...can I atleast choose our work venue because If I were stuck in a library again with you I might kill you.
KDY: haha..
KDY: sure.
Y/N: mango drop cafe, 10am.
KDY: cool, see you then.
‘Haha’. You had no idea why that text in particular riled you up. Did he find all of this amusing ? Was he making everyone's life a living hell because he enjoyed it ? You stared at his messages and somehow ended up on his profile picture. He was leaning against a railing dressed in all black with his hooded eyes concentrated on the camera lense, Your realization of how attractive he was came from the fact that you stared at the picture for a good 20 minutes. You wondered who took the picture, a girlfriend maybe ? You shook your head. He seemed too uptight to be getting laid. You sighed, closing your phone and awaited yet another day with the insufferable gorgeous man that was Kim Doyoung.
You arrived quite early at the cafe but of course Doyoung was here before you, already typing away at his laptop, in his usual attire. You greeted the barista and placed an order for a chilled cafe latte before making your way over to him.
“Hey” you said simply and took a seat opposite him in the booth. Doyoung’s ears perked up at the sound of your voice and made room for your books on the table.
“You're here early”
“You're already picking a fight with me?” you said casually setting up your workspace.
Doyoung chuckled under his breath and shook his head, “I just didn't expect you this early y/n it's not that serious.”
You ignored his words and got straight to work, not in the mood to play his little game. You felt Doyoung look at you a few times. You weren't sure if it were to check if youre doing the right thing or he was just looking at you.
“Well i'm done with my part” you stretched your arms above your head and yawned.
“Yeah I'm pretty much done too, Do you want another cup of coffee ?” Doyoung offered pointing to your empty cup. You were taken back by his softer demeanor but quickly nodded, “uh yeah sure.”
Doyoung returned carrying a tray of two fresh cups of coffee and a slice of cheesecake. Setting everything down he handed you the extra fork and placed the cheesecake in the middle of the table to make it easier to share.
“H-how much do I owe you ?” You fumbled in your bag for your wallet.
“It's okay, it's my treat” Doyoung replied, placing a piece of cheesecake in his mouth and slowly licking the fork clean. You gulped as his tongue darted out carefully licking the cream from the metal, not leaving any residue behind. You had no idea what the hell was going on but you felt hot, almost claustrophobic.
“You're okay?” Doyoung asked innocently, unaware of what he was doing to you.
“Why are you being...nice?” You questioned, knitting your eyebrows together as the man continued to act as if this was his usual behavior.
Doyoung pursed his lips and placed the fork on the plate, “You want me to be mean to you?”
“No I just don't get-”
“I apologized to Dami and she told me she only overreacted because the guy she likes, Seungmin was there” Doyoung explained and removed his spectacles, “she was embarrassed to ask anyone for help, I paired them up for today.”
“Wait wha-”
“Also Jangjun works at the campus radio” Doyoung continued, “I had only found out the day we all met, I gave him tasks that will allow him more flexibility, that way he doesn't have to join group sessions often.”
You blinked, unable to form any words in order to reply to Doyoung. Especially after he chuckled at your speechlessness, knowing you didn't bother getting his side of the story at first.
“You were right y/n I dont have to be an asshole all the time, I just like to get my work done” He shrugged. You kept eye contact with him but somehow it felt as if he were still toying with you, waiting on your next reaction. He seemed like he played this game often, making sure he always had the upper hand. Doyoung seemed relaxed as he stared at you, taking another scoop of the cheesecake and slowly ran his tongue over his lips after his bite. What the fuck was he doing ?
“Y/N ?” you heard a familiar voice come from the entrance of the cafe. Your attention diverted from Doyoung to the blonde haired boy who began approaching your table.
“Jungwoo ? oh my God what are you doing here ?” You stood up and pulled him into a tight hug and pecked his cheek. Doyoung shifted awkwardly in his seat as he watched your exchange with the stranger.
“I got off early from class about to go to Subway, are you still doing that group project thing?” Jungwoo looked over at your table and half smiled at Doyoung who tried to distract himself with his phone.
“Uh yeah but i'm all done here I think, wanna hang out ?” you hooked arms with Jungwoo as he nodded enthusiastically. You turned around and scratched the back of your head,
“So...uh”
“Were all done you can go, I have somewhere to be anyway” Doyoung smiled as you slowly began packing up your things.
“Alright, see you tomorrow I guess” you bid your goodbye and headed out for lunch with Jungwoo.
—-
You had just finished up your skincare routine and caught up with a few instagram posts when you noticed Doyoung had followed you. Sitting up in bed you scrolled through his feed curiously. Every post was aesthetically pleasing and he looked absolutely hot in every single one of them. He had to have a girlfriend right ? No guy posts pictures this good without women flooding his DMs.
There was no harm in doing the same since he was in your class, you decided to return the follow and close the app. Suddenly your phone vibrated with a new message in your chats.
Y/N X KDY  10:30pm
KDY: hey
Y/N: aren't you breaking two of your rules right now ?
KDY: haha
KDY: I didn't realize what time it was…
Y/N: ….anyways..is this about work at least ?
KDY: kinda… you left one of your books at the cafe. I have it with me.
Y/N: oh… thank you.
KDY: no prob...oh I hope its not a problem I added you on ig
Y/N: no its okay we are friends I guess
KDY: haha I thought I was the insufferable asshole..
Y/N: you are...but not all the time. Look im sorry for saying shitty things about you.
KDY: its all good.
KDY: …….
Y/N: ..whats up?
You twirled your fingers as you watched the three dots from Doyoung pop up and disappear over and over again. What was taking him so long ?
KDY: that guy….that you met at the cafe..is he your boyfriend ?
Y/N: Jungwoo ? no way we've been friends since high school.
KDY: oh..
Y/N:....why would you even ask that ?
KDY: curious.
Y/N: curious about who I'm dating ??
KDY: A little.
You frowned at your phone and noticed Doyoung had changed his profile picture to a selfie. The picture was..something alright. You bit down on your lip as you enlarged the picture, which showed a wet haired Doyoung with his head resting in his palm and his long index finger was placed between his plump lips.
“Fuck y/n get yourself together” you gave yourself a pep talk before opening his chat back up again.
Y/N X KDY  10.54PM
Y/N: fine if you can ask a question can I ask one..
KDY: go ahead
Y/N: who do you keep thirst trapping for ?
KDY: ….haha thirst trapping ?
Y/N: Yeah who do keep posting these hot pics for huh
KDY: …..
KDY: You think i'm hot ?
Fuck. Why did you word it that way. You groaned immediately regretting sending that message but something in you was so curious about him you decided to just risk it, what was the worst that could happen ?
Y/N: well yeah, I mean I'm sure everyone thinks you're attractive, you seem to know it too.
KDY: wow.
KDY: I think you're hot too.
What the hell was going on. You felt your face heat up and you placed your pillow in between your legs as you turned on your side.
KDY: I was almost disappointed when I thought Jungwoo was your boyfriend, he's way too passive.
Y/N: ...and what makes you think you know what kind of man I need ?
KDY: hmmm
KDY: first of, with that fucking attitude of yours..A dominate one.
You swallowed hard as you felt a tingle in your stomach, squeezing your thighs together on the pillow to create more friction.
Y/N: I could say the same for you.
KDY: You may think youre dominate in many aspects...but when it comes to fucking..im the one in charge.
God you hated how hot that sounded. He had you in the palm of his hand through text. You were a mess and he wasn't even the room to fuel it. You wanted him so fucking bad it was insane.
Y/N: running your mouth doesn't equate to doing it you know...
KDY:.....
KDY: then would you like me to show you ?
Everything happened so damn fast. One minute you two were texting the next minute you were sharing your apartment location and Doyoung was on his way over. You scrambled to put on sexier underwear and do your hair, still in shock by the fact that Doyoung was on his way over to bang you.
You jumped when you heard the doorbell and realized it was him. Opening the door you were greeted to a very different look of Doyoung. His hair was messy and reached his eyes. Instead of his usual black academic attire he wore a loose white vest that showed off his toned chest and arms, along with a pair of grey sweatpants.
“Hi” Doyoung smirked, his eyes were dark as he scanned your figure.
“Hi” you responded, leaning against the wall in the hallway and looked up at him. Doyoung slowly approached you, like a lion circling its prey. His slender fingers danced lightly along your body, drawing a line from your waist until he found your throat and wrapped his cold fingers around it. He bit down on his lip as he studied how perfectly his hand looked around it and squeezed gently, smirking after hearing a soft moan emit from you.
“I want you to do as I say, any back chat from you will get you punished you got that ?” he brought his lips down to your neck and exhaled.
You nodded in response but that wasn't good enough for Doyoung. You felt his squeeze on your throat once more and he used his hips to pin you against the wall, “use your words” he gritted his teeth.
“Yes sir” you replied obediently, and felt him smile against your neck.
“Good girl, and if i'm too rough let me know so I can stop okay ?” he replied, his voice changed and it was much sweeter and genuine than before. He placed a soft kiss on your cheek when you nodded and led you to the bed.
Doyoung lay you on the bed, already stripping off his shirt and ordered you to undress yourself and rid him off his sweatpants. You bit down on your lip taking notice of how aroused he was when you palmed his member.
Doyoung watched you through hooded eyes as you discarded his sweatpants and boxers. He softly patted your head and grabbed a tuft of your hair in order to make you look up at him.
“Spit” he ordered, and held out his hand and you did as you were told. You watched as he lathered himself with it, moaning as he stroked himself. He was so damn sexy, biting down on lip and slowly pleased himself as you watched.
“Do you want this inside you sweetheart ?” he cooed and placed a finger under chin.
You nodded quickly, “Yes please”
“What do you want me to do baby ?” He purred and hovered over you as you lay on the bed, breathing heavily as his fingers moved against your warm skin, tracing your curves, ghosting over your heat and returning back to your lips to insert a digit inside.
Doyoung watched diligently as you sucked on his finger like the good girl he knew you were. He finally pulled his finger out and with one swift movement entered with his member before you could even respond to his question. You moaned as he quickly slammed his hips into yours, wasting no time in gaining a rhythm as you marked his back with scratch marks feeling as though you were on a high.
Doyoung fucked you like a pro, wasting no time to switch positions and had you on all fours, slapping your ass before slamming into you again, that pretentious smirk forming on his face as he heard your whimpers asking him for more.
“Are you ready to cum sweetheart ?” he asked, pulling you up as his strokes became slower and tugged on your ear with his teeth.
“Y-yes yes i'm ready” you panted.
“What's the magic word ?” he growled as he grabbed your throat and slowed down his pace as you were nearing your climax.
“Fuck youre so annoying PLEASE, please let me cum Doyoung fuck”
Doyoung chuckled and picked up his pace until you finally climaxed and he followed shortly after, collapsing in the bed next to you.
“You have such an attitude God” he rolled his eyes playfully, bringing the blanket over your bodies and grinned when you moved in to cuddle him.
“I guess you will have to fix that some time” you yawned and wrapped your arm around his waist, “but I have to admit, maybe I do enjoy the insufferable Kim Doyoung bossing me around once in a while.”

Athena
– Goddess of wisdom, reason, intelligent activity, literature, handicrafts and science, defense and strategic warfare
Rowan felt ridiculous.
He had spent the last hour cleaning his apartment and was currently pulling all of the food out that was meant to be prepared for dinner.
Steak, carrots, green beans, potatoes, a wide range of spices.
Thanks to the internet, Rowan knew what to do with them all.
It’s not like it was that big of a deal - Lorcan and Elide were joining him and Aelin for dinner.
And although he had hosted Lorcan and Elide a million times for dinner, Rowan had never cooked, nor had he introduced them to someone he was crazy about.
And he was crazy about Aelin.
She didn’t have classes on Fridays, something he wished he had been smart enough to plan when he was in college, so she’d done his grocery shopping while he was teaching all day. When he got home, he was expecting her to still be there. But his apartment was empty.
I have to get ready, she’d explained when he called her. I wasn’t expecting Lorcan the other night, but I have to impress Elide.
“You could have gotten ready here. You shower here all the time.”
We have sex in the shower, I don’t use it for functional purposes. Not yet anyway.
So here he was, laptop open to a recipe for pan-seared steak, making sure he had everything he needed.
Aelin had promised she’d be here before Lorcan and Elide, and he had been hoping to impress her with his skills in the kitchen, too, even if they were rough.
Now he was hoping not to set the smoke alarms off as he turned the stove on and put way more butter than he was used to using in the cast iron pan.
As it began to melt, he was already considering his meal a success.
Just as he was dropping the steaks into the pan, the front door opened and Aelin was letting herself in.
“Follow the sound of the sizzling,” he called, and Aelin came into view a second later.
She whistled, brows raised. “I like a man in the kitchen.”
Rowan laughed as he met her halfway, giving her a kiss. “Hopefully you still like it after you eat what I make.” Another kiss. “You look beautiful.”
She scoffed. “I’m wearing leggings and a top.”
“And you look beautiful in them,” he replied, turning back to the stove. “Just like you do in everything.”
“You’re a shameless flirt,” she said, beginning to chop the vegetables. But he saw the blush creep across her cheeks and ears.
Although they were cooking a homemade meal, he’d made sure she knew this wasn’t going to be anything fancy.
Elide would never let me live it down.
Rowan had always got along well with Elide, although he had absolutely no idea how she ended up with Lorcan. Rowan loved his oldest and closest friend, but he was a natural asshole.
Elide was the opposite.
“I have to confess,” Aelin began, nibbling on her bottom lip. “I’m a little nervous.”
Rowan’s brows rose. “Why?”
“Well, these are the people we’re going to be spending a lot of time with, I assume, since they’re two out of four people that know about us.” She gestures between the two of them. Their unorthodox relationship. “If she’s as sweet as you say she is, I’m worried my sarcastic ass will offend the woman.”
Rowan couldn’t help the laughter that shook his body. “Do I need to remind you that she’s been with Lorcan for the last five years?”
Aelin whistled. “Five years and still no ring? That gives me good material to ruffle Lorcan with.”
He froze and glanced over a shoulder at her. “Maybe don’t bring that up.”
Aelin was instantly grateful she had mentioned it now, and not in front of Lorcan directly. “Why?”
“Lorcan is…” Rowan trailed off as he flipped one of the steaks over. “He’s complicated. He’s not great with commitment. Elide is the only girl he’s been in a real relationship with as long as I’ve known him.”
“And how long is that?” Aelin asked, transferring the chopped veggies into a baking dish.
“We’ve been best friends since elementary school.”
Aelin’s eyes widened. “Oh. Wow. Okay, I won’t bring up anything to do with weddings or babies or any other lifelong commitments.”
“Good idea,” Rowan chuckled. “It may not seem like it, but as of now, Lorcan likes you. Imagine how cranky of an ass he would be if you got on his bad side.”
“Almost as bad as it is for someone who gets on mine,” Aelin grinned, and that mischief sent a thrilling chill down Rowan’s spine.
He opened his mouth to respond, to say something along the lines of lets do it right here, right now, before they get here, but a single knock sounded on the door.
Aelin whistled. “Even Lorcan’s knock is grumpy.”
“It’s also early,” Rowan mumbled, setting the tongs he’d been using down beside the stove and heading for the door. On any other occasion, Lorcan would have let himself in, like usual, but he knew how important this night was. Or at least was to Rowan.
He opened the door and found Lorcan grimacing, while the petite girl with dark hair was bouncing from foot to foot.
“Is she here?” Elide asked, grin growing. “Or do I have time to grill you about this alone before she shows up?”
“I’m afraid you’ll have to grill us both,” Aelin said, appearing from the kitchen, a smile on her face.
As Rowan shut the door behind them, Elide’s mouth popped open into a little O and her eyes narrowed.
Aelin’s grin grew. “Hello, Elide.”
“Aelin,” she breathed. “Aelin Aelin? As in…Aelin?”
“I’m guessing it was the same Elide,” Lorcan mumbled, carrying a covered dish into the apartment. “Elide made dessert.”
With that, he was going into the kitchen to place it on the table.
The two women ran towards each other and embraced. Rowan kept his mouth shut as he watched the scene unfold.
Elide stepped back. “You don’t seem as surprised as me. Why don’t you seem as surprised as me?”
“Lorcan told me where you were from and how you moved around last time I was graced with his presence.” Aelin shrugged, that grin remaining. “I had a hunch, but wasn’t sure. Besides, if it did end up being you, I wasn’t sure you’d remember me.”
Elide turned and glared at her boyfriend. “A little heads up would have been appreciated.”
He was already halfway to the fridge, heading for a beer he knew Rowan would have restocked for them. “What she said. I didn’t want to get the story wrong or your hopes up.”
Rolling her eyes, Elide looked back to Aelin. “Men.”
Ending up back in the kitchen, Aelin finished up the veggies and was putting them in the oven when Elide asked, “So Aelin, how exactly did you two meet?”
Aelin glanced at Rowan and then back towards Elide. She was sipping her wine as she leaned against the counter, looking like the picture of innocence. Lorcan was shaking his head where he stood next to her.
Clearing her throat softly, she took the safe route. “In class.”
Elide’s eyes lit up. “So he really is your professor.”
“I thought that had been established,” Rowan mumbled, covering the steaks with foil to rest before they ate.
“I wasn’t sure if you two were just trying to mess with me again,” she said, eyeing Lorcan and Rowan. Turning to Aelin, she said, “I’m so glad I won’t be the only girl anymore. You have no idea how awful it is being the third wheel with these two.”
“You’re the third wheel with these two?” Aelin asked, brow raised.
Elide barked a laugh. “Absolutely. The more time you spend around these lovebirds, you’ll see what I’m talking about. Their bromance is out of control.”
“Bromance, huh?” Aelin grinned as Rowan rolled his eyes.
“It’s cute, really,” Elide said, then slowly shook her head as she met Aelin’s eyes. “Wow. I just can’t believe it’s you. It’s good to see you.”
“You too,” Aelin said, and Lorcan cleared his throat from where he stood on the other side of the room.
“Are we done with sappy pleasantries?” He asked. “I came to eat.”
Elide pointed to the oven, where the vegetables were still roasting. “Five more minutes in the oven, but you and Rowan can set the table if you don’t feel like hearing us talk.”
She gave him a brilliant smile, which he scowled at, but Rowan indeed clapped a hand on his friend’s shoulder and led him from the room.
“Are you still close with Aedion? How is he?”
Elide asked, perching on one of the bar stools as Aelin refilled their wine glasses and stirred the pot of mashed potatoes on the stove.
“Yeah, he practically lives with me,” Aelin replied rolling her eyes affectionately. “He’s dating my best friend, and graduates in the spring, like me.”
“What’s he studying?” Elide asked, then added. “I thought he was older than us.”
“He is, by two years. He took a year off to find himself,” Aelin snorted, holding up air quotes. “Then he changed his major twice, which gave him a few unexpected setbacks. But he’ll have a degree in sports medicine and will be going back at some point to get his specialization in physical therapy.”
“I remember him being big into sports,” Elide nodded. “Good for him.”
“And you?” Aelin asked, leaning her elbows on the counter. “College not the path for you?”
“Oh no,” Elide said, chuckling. “I went for a few months before deciding it wasn’t for me. I started serving and making good tips, so I didn’t pursue anything else until recently. About a year ago I started getting really into pottery. I started my own little business a couple months ago, that I do for just a little extra cash and for the hell of it.”
“Really?” Aelin asked, brow raised. “That's incredible. What do you make?”
Elide opened her mouth to speak, but it was Lorcan that said. “Vases, mostly. She’s incredibly talented.”
Aelin hadn’t even heard them come back in, but as if on cue, the timer behind her went off. She turned to pull the vegetables out of the oven, but glanced back over her shoulder and Elide, who was smiling softly at Lorcan. “You’ll have to show me,” she said, setting the baking dish on a trivet. “I’d love to buy one.”
Elide’s smile was almost as radiant as she was.
*
“Okay. No more ordering in when we come over,” Elide said, setting her fork and knife down on her nearly empty plate. “You’re cooking from now on, Rowan.”
Everything had been delicious, even if the potatoes had been instant. Rowan was pretty damn proud of himself. “Aelin helped,” he said, his hand finding her knee under the table.
“Then you better keep her, because that was delicious and take out isn’t going to cut it anymore.” Elide sipped from her wine and winked at Aelin from across the table.
“Even I can’t protest that,” Lorcan said, throwing his arm around the back of Elides chair.
“And I didn’t help that much,” Aelin said, holding her hands up. “Rowan started cooking this afternoon. I just put veggies in the oven.”
“Well, either way, it means Lor and I are on clean up duty. You two go relax,” Elide said, and rose, beginning to pick up plates.
Lorcan groaned but followed his girlfriend’s lead, nonetheless.
Aelin laughed quietly as she took Rowan’s hand and pulled him into the living room.
“I like the hold she has over him,” Aelin said, once they were alone. “It’s inspiring.”
Rowan hummed as he put an arm around her and pulled her against his side. “That’s a great way to describe Elide. Inspiring.”
Aelin thought of the murky memories she had of the young girl. She’d moved to Perranth right around the time Aelin’s own parents had died. Sadly, that move had been prompted by the same reason. Elide’s parents had also passed and her uncle had received full guardianship of her, and he lived in Perranth. Rather than uproot his life, he decided to uproot Elide’s. She had been too young for a cell phone, so there had been no way to stay in touch at the time, but Aelin was glad to see her back in Orynth. She was sure Aedion would be happy to hear about it, too.
“I think she likes you,” Rowan murmured, his lips by her ear.
Her laughter was soft as she rested her head against his shoulder. “I’d hope so. She’s known me since we were children.”
Rowan scoffed. “That means nothing. I’ve known
Lorcan since we were children and half the time
I hate him.”
Aelin’s head fell back as she laughed a little louder. “Well, that’s understandable. But me? I’m a peach.”
“Yeah, you are,” he whispered, and kissed her, softly. She held onto him a little bit tighter, and she couldn’t help but think how perfectly the night had gone.
If only the people who currently knew about their relationship would be the only people that knew about their relationship, Aelin wouldn't mind it. At least, not for a while.
“Elide was right, though,” Aelin muttered. “Your food is delicious. I’m continuously impressed by you.”
He shook his head and laughed quietly. “Thank the Internet. I can just follow directions well.”
The two fell into silence as they listened to Lorcan and Elide’s banter from the kitchen, and Aelin couldn’t help but laugh. It was clear they had been together for a while, with how comfortable they were, and Aelin was happy for them, if not a little bit jealous. She knew it was something that couldn’t be rushed, but feeling like that with someone, like that someone was home, was something she hadn’t experienced in a while.
“He’a different around her,” Aelin quietly mused as Lorcan’s deep rumble of laughter reached them from the other room.
Rowan nodded slowly. “Their story isn’t mine to tell, but… He helped her out of a dark place, but she also saved him, in her own way.”
She understood that. Hopefully, she and Elide would become close enough that she’d feel like she could open up to her.
It’d be nice to have another girlfriend, like Lysandra.
“You should come over one night this week,” Aelin said, looking up into his face. “So you can get to know Aedion and Lysandra.”
His eyes narrowed slightly. “I think Lysandra and I got a good start on that in class.”
Aelin grinned as she framed his face with her hands. “She’s a little extra, but so am I, so you shouldn’t mind that too much.”
Rowan scrunched his nose but sighed. “I guess that would be fine…considering they already know about us.”
“Kind of hard to hide from my best friend and roommate,” Aelin muttered. “And obnoxious cousin.”
“We could always go up north for a weekend, too,” Rowan suggested. “With Lor, Elide, and Lysandra and your cousin. I have a cabin there.”
“Of course you do.” Aelin rolled her eyes. “Spoiled, rotten rich kid.”
There was a flash of hurt in his eyes, but before she could ask about it, or even begin to apologize, Elide was sweeping into the room. “Dinner is all cleaned up and I still have room for dessert. Anyone else?”
“Depends on what it is,” Rowan smirked, his arm still around Aelin. That hurt was gone and Aelin wondered if she’d imagined it. “Not your attempt at a crockpot apple pie again, is it?”
“That was one time and had too little liquid. My crockpot was too large,” she huffed, but crossed her arms. “It’s a triple chocolate cake, actually.”
Aelin’s interest was immediately piqued. “Oh, there’s always room for chocolate cake.”
Elide grinned and took her hand, pulling her off the couch and into the kitchen. Lorcan took a seat on the other side of the couch and sighed.
“The two of them together is terrifying.”
Rowan smiled. He was sure they could get into some trouble, but it was nothing he and Lorcan wouldn’t be able to handle.
He was happy, he realized, trying to shove back the dark memories he’d accidentally dredged up. He was happier than he’d been in years, and Aelin was the reason.
He just prayed nothing happened to end that happiness.

Coffee dates and disasters
au with college!lip and barista!mandy where ian is a frequent visitor at the campus café and meets mickey under rather unfortunate circumstances. don't cry over spilled milk, buddy.
which also fits under a.u.gust for @gallavichthings
words: 2.4k
"never would have thought you the type to come to one of these places," ian mused, looking around the small café with only lamps and string lights illuminating the space. "can't believe college changed you, man," ian clutched at his heart dramatically.
"don't worry. 'm still the annoying bastard you love so dearly," lip squeezed ian's shoulder before he sauntered up to the counter.
the barista's bored expressed brightened when she saw them. her perky demeanor was matched by a high pitched voice, "hey lip," she smiled, dark lipstick striking. she appraised ian with a somewhat predatory eye, "hello, lip's friend."
"uh, brother," ian coughed.
lip rolled his eyes, "and he's gay so don't even try it, mandy."
she pouted and flicked her hair behind her shoulder, "not that it's any of your business, anyways."
ian chuckled besides him, drawing another smile out of mandy, this one kinder, sweeter.
"what can i get you boys?"
the pink highlights glistened in her dark hair as she whipped up lip's cold brew and ian's caramel macchiato, then proceeded to insist that this one is on the house. neither of them argued, but thanked her before they settled down in some stools by the window.
"fucking the barista privileges?" ian asked, raising his eyebrow at his slut of a brother.
"i think of it more like fellow south sider charity," he rubbed his bottom lip, "but yours works too," lip smirked around the edges of his coffee cup.
"you're an idiot."
"can a man who got us free drinks really be deemed an idiot?" lip philosophized.
ian paused, taking a moment of thorough consideration. he looked lip straight in the eyes as he answered, "if that man is you, then without a doubt."
lip tried to knock ian's cup out of his hand, but failed at his attempt. ian thanked his well-practiced jrotc skills and a lifetime experience of growing up in a house packed with annoying siblings for his victory.
they chatted about the robotics classes lip was taking, how he got full-time access to one of the labs, and his weird ass roommate who may or may not be gay if ian is at all interested. ian scrunched up his face. after hearing so many horror stories about the guy, ian didn't want anywhere near him. he wasn't that desperate yet.
the second that lip was out of his seat and heading to the bathroom, the beautiful mess that was mandy descended.
"hiiii lip's gay brother," she leaned against the table.
"it's ian," he spun his empty cup in his hands. he couldn't help himself from smiling at her charisma.
"well hi, ian, i just wanted to say sorry if i spooked you earlier. i just had no idea lip's brother would be so cute!"
"his ugly mug's not too hard to beat." ian laughed. "he got the short end of the gallagher stick, literally."
"cute and charming. you're funny, ian gallagher, i like you." she placed her hand on his shoulder for a moment, a movement so soft compared to her rather frantic appearance. "come back here anytime and it's on the house, yeah? i work most evenings after three."
"oh. uh- okay," ian scrambled for words, "thanks."
she squeezed his shoulder once before lip returned with a rather obnoxious entrance.
"ayo mands, stop harassing him!"
ian ducked his head in embarrassment.
"oh, shut up! i'm just clearing your cups," she winked at ian as she left.
mandy was something else. but she was kind and good company. ian could get used to the chill atmosphere over the chaos of the gallagher house anytime. he might just take up her offer.
--
"you'd think with all the time you spend here, you'd be offered a scholarship or something by now." mandy sipped on her chocolate frappuccino as she laid her feet across ian's lap. he always made sure to come visit during her breaks at least twice a week during the past couple months.
ian shrugged, "guess they only had room for one gallagher."
mandy hit his arm in a way that hurt. lip was fucked if he ever broke her heart.
"does fiona even know that this is where you sneak off to?"
"yeah." mandy's look said she didn't believe him. "well, kinda. she thinks i'm visiting lip, brotherly duties and all."
"yeah? how are those brotherly duties?"
"fuck if i know."
she laughed.
"i still think you should apply here for next fall," she encouraged, "could take some art classes."
"i suck at art."
"chemistry?"
"failed that."
"business?"
"yeah, no thanks."
mandy flipped him off, "fine. botany?
"ya know what? sure." he had always wanted to grow tomatoes.
"really?!"
"heart wants what it wants, mandy. we can't all be psychology brainiacs."
"brains and beauty, what can i say?" she teased. ian laughed, eyes glistening towards his friend. mandy made things better.
"hey," she continued, "there's this concert on the main campus lawn this weekend, you should totally come!"
"isn't that just for students?"
"they don't card, dummy."
"right, right, i knew that."
"sureeee. you in?"
ian mentally checked his work schedule.
"i'm in."
--
lip and ian strolled into the café a few days later. okay, maybe ian had felt a bit guilty for abandoning his brotherly duties lately, but at least this way he could hang out with both his best friends. well he could have if he remembered the fact that mandy had the day off for her behavioral neuroscience midterm. they had literally spent her previous shift reviewing the terms, he should have known.
ian's couldn't help his face from falling as another blonde barista took their orders, mostly eyeing lip the whole time.
"hi lip," she smiled a little too sincerely, "what can i get for you today?"
ian had ordered something new at the recommendation of the blonde and he was not a fan. and to make matters worse, he had to actually pay for the atrocity that he wouldn't even be able to finish.
"so how's your little coffee dates with mandy?" lip asked over his cup.
ian nearly choked on his god-awful americano. "how'd you know?"
"please. she's obsessed with you. every time i see her, it's 'ian this,' 'ian that,' 'ian might apply here in next year.'"
"oh."
"yeah, oh. when were you gonna tell me?!"
“it’s all mandy’s idea, i’m not even sure i want to,” ian muttered, refusing to make eye contact.
“dude, i’ve literally shared a room with you since the day you popped out of monica’s wretched womb, you think I can’t tell when you’re lying?”
okay maybe ian had been getting increasingly more excited about the idea of attending school and actually learning things that he wants to learn. something that might actually lead him somewhere real since rotc was looking more and more like a poor man's fantasy the more that he thought about it.
“I was gonna tell you, swear on it.” and he was. once he convinced himself that lip wasn't going to straight up laugh in his face. but the look in his eye seemed genuinely supportive.
“mhm, i gotta catch my english lit class," lip stood up, swinging his tattered tan backpack across one shoulder. he patted ian's shoulder in his big brother ways, "don’t be a stranger, yeah?”
“yeah, yeah for sure! have fun learning a language you already know!” lip flipped him off at his smartass remark.
soon after, ian stood up to return his drink to the counter, the anxiety from the conversation making him entirely lose whatever appetite he might have had. plus, it wasn’t the same here without lip or mandy. he just wanted to be wrapped up in a cocoon in his own bed. but that was so far away. maybe he could catch an early ride—
thump.
ian crashed into a guy’s sturdy body.
the remnants of his shitty drink spilled in an americano nightmare over both of them, ceramic pieces shattering on the floor in a truly horrific manner.
ian yipped and the other man let out a grunt of irritation.
they were fucking soaked. well, at least the coffee wasn't hot? ian tried justifying the situation, but, nah, this was bad.
"shit! i'm so sorry, lemme," ian reached out and the shorter man flinched away.
they were now far enough apart that ian got a good look at him. a leather jacket.. now covered in ian's drink -- shit. and shockingly piercing blue eyes that lingered too long on ian's before his cheeks turned a shade of pink that made ian's stomach flutter.
he might have seemed cold if he didn’t make ian feel so warm.
"it’s cool, man. i gotta go, uh," and he walked out of the café without looking back.
fuck.
ian smelled like coffee the entire train ride to the back of the yards. he laid in his bed regretting his entire life.
no mandy. no lip. no dignity.
--
the day of the concert that mandy had invited him to rolled around. ian wouldn’t admit it, but he was nervous to spend a coffee-less evening with mandy, their entire friendship built inside that one room. his little bubble of safety was bursting.
well, to be honest, the bubble had burst the moment that his disaster of a coffee was spilled onto one of the most ridiculously pretty guys that he's ever seen. every time he closed his eyes, he remembered the guy’s face shift from hostile to something else. he was torn between wanting to know the his name and also on never seeing him again in fear that he would simply pass away of embarrassment.
hopefully mandy hadn't heard about it. they may not have been friends for a long time, but he already knew that she would never let him live it down.
"hey ian!" her familiar voice called. that sounded promising.
his face fell with relief as he finally spotted her at the corner. she embraced him in a warm hug before pulling back and giving him a once over.
"huh, could have sworn you'd still have coffee behind your ear or something after the description karen gave me of your little disaster the other day." she smirked, quite literally double checking behind his ears as they turned hot under her gaze.
"ugh, fuck, how much did she tell you?" he itched his forehead and scrunched up his nose.
"oh, calm your tits, it's funny as fuck." she giggled, punching his arm in a way that still unintentionally hurt.
"whatever. are you excited for the concert tonight?"
their reunion conversation lulled eventually, and ian noticed that they weren't necessarily standing alone.
no. fucking. way.
just his luck, if he was being honest. he probably deserved this.
there he stood. the man that has plagued his dreams the past few days. in a light wash jean jacket that was a little tight on the biceps, leaning casually against the wall, kicking the pebbles on the ground with his boot.
"uh, what's he doing here?" ian gestured towards the victim of The Coffee Incident.
“what, you know him?” mandy asked, walking them towards him.
“vaguely.” if that wasn’t the understatement of the year.
"huh. i didn’t think my idiot brother had any friends."
brother? how did ian not realize she had a brother?
"what, did you think i was going to babysit you all night? i can't let everyone here thinking you're my boyfriend, no offense or whatever, but you're in good hands!" she kissed his cheek, clearly not helping her own not-looking-like-her-boyfriend rule.
ian eyed said brother's good hands only to see the faded letters of FUCK U-UP on them. oh.
mandy pushed ian over to her brother, "ian, mickey. mickey, ian," she introduced before pushing and shuffling her way through the crowd of college students to find herself someone’s cheap ass fruity alcohol to mooch off of.
mickey. ian's brain repeated over and over, a chime against the murmuring sea of voices they found themselves enveloped by.
"nice jacket," ian pointed out, an awkward attempt to converse before shoving his hands back in his pockets.
"it's my second favorite." the corners of his mouth lifted like there was more to the statement. ian took the bait, as if he could resist.
"what's your first?"
"first is still airing out the fuckin’ coffee smell," he smirked as ian groaned. "oh c’mon, man, don't go crying over spilled milk."
how could he not? on the bright side, he didn’t seemed to hate ian for it.
“if it was anyone else,” mickey drawled, “they’d have to get a beat down for it.”
“why do I get a free pass?” ian mused.
“well, you’re mandy’s friend, right?”
“yup,” ian tried to suppress his disappointment. he really did. but fiona always told him he wore his heart on his sleeve.
“yeah, that ain’t why, though,” his eyebrows waggled suggestively and ian nearly felt his heart drop out of his ass.
ian blessed whatever coffee god was out there for sending him both mandy and the beautiful man in front of him.
“you wanna go listen to the band?” ian nodded his head towards the stage with passionate players jumping around like they were playing lollapalooza or some shit.
“lead the way, stud, just try to keep your drinks off of me this time,” mickey knocked into ian’s own flannel covered shoulder.
yeah, ian couldn’t believe his luck. maybe karma was finally on his side.
mandy smirked at her brother and best friend not-so-subtly checking each other out over the course of the night, bopping their heads to the music and downing whatever free booze they could get their hands on.
she hoped that adding mickey to the equation would be enough incentive to convince ian to stick around. things were better when he was near.
the way that ian followed mickey around like a lost puppy with that dopey moon-eyed look, it seemed like her hopes would come true.
and when both ian and mickey strolled into the café to come visit her at work the next week, mickey in his worse-for-wear leather jacket and ian in borrowed denim, she thanks the coffee gods for her luck.

When I took on this case, I thought nothing of it. Just a simple open and shut kind of deal, one that nobody had bothered to finish. But the more I dug into the case, the more I began to realize that it was much more than what meets the eye.
28 August, 20XX
Despite it being summer, the morning you set to head out to find the town is frigid. You wake up to find the morning dew has frosted over your front lawn, a crystal blanket gently laying atop the greenery. You had checked the weather reports for the week and none of them had mentioned anything about colder temperatures. Though, you have to admit; no one will perfectly predict the weather, and in your bipolar city, you should know better than to trust what the forecast says. With a jacket wrapped around your shoulders, and the heat blasting through your car, you wave goodbye to your house for the next few days.
It takes your maps app an hour before it starts to malfunction. It tries to make you turn onto roads that don’t exist, redirects every few seconds, and even closes completely out of the app a couple of times. Finally, after the app closes itself for the third time, you give up. You pull over as soon as you can, restarting your phone in hopes that maybe it will help fix whatever is happening. You decide to let your phone take a break when you can’t access the application anymore. Luckily, your parents had told you long ago to keep a spare map book of the country in your glove box. You quickly reach for it, flipping the book open to your area, and try to search for Blackgate.
“Blackgate… Blackgate…”
A sharp knock on the passenger window startles you. Your head snaps up to see what made the noise only to see an older woman standing between the car and the curb. You place a hand to your chest, trying to calm your racing heart before rolling down the window enough to be able to hear her clearly.
“Can I help you?”
She chuckles quietly, smiling at you.
“Sorry to scare you. I just saw you pull over, so I wanted to make sure everything was alright.”
“Yeah, I’m just trying to figure out which way I’m going.”
You huff out a small laugh, shaking the map book high enough for the woman to see better.
“Oh? Where you headed?”
“Blackgate?”
The atmosphere around the two of you seems to change quickly after the mention of the name. Her smile fades slightly and she fidgets in her spot, seemingly becoming apprehensive.
“What are you going there for?”
You can tell she’s confused as to why you are looking for the town. From what Yoongi had told you last week, it’s not the best place to be—if it even still exists. You hold up your press badge as you answer her.
“I’m a journalist. Just wanted to check it out.”
Of course you aren’t going to tell the woman the exact reason why you are looking for the town, so you hope your little white lie will get her to help you out. The woman carefully inspects your badge through the small opening in your window. She leans a little farther away from your car, and you take it as your cue to put the badge back down.
“If you take this road all the way north until you see a small beat up barn to your left, take that right. It should take you in the right direction.”
The twinge of skepticism in her voice doesn’t bother you. You know that what you're about to do isn’t going to exactly be the safest thing you could do, but you’re glad that someone could point you in the right direction. You thank the woman, sending her a smile as she walks back to her own vehicle parked behind yours. You wait a moment before tossing the map book onto the passenger seat with your badge and get back on the road.

Just as the woman you talked to said, about another half hour down the road, an old rotting barn sits on your left side. You can tell no one has touched the building in a long time, save for the teenagers that probably have covered the inside with broken beer bottles and spray paint. It’s quiet in this part of the state. Much more quiet than ten minutes before, where many people zip down the street to head to who knows where. Here, there isn’t much to look at. The only other place you can see besides the mangled barn is a small gas station a little farther up the road. A couple of cars sit at the stalls, but there is no one in sight. You shake your head, ridding yourself of the uneasy thoughts that start to creep into your mind.
Maybe music will help. You reach to turn the volume up on the stereo. Your brows furrow. What should be your favorite musicians playing through the speakers is coming out as loud scratchy static. Your fingers feel around for the seek button on the stereo as you try to focus on the road ahead of you. Unable to find it, you glance down for a second. You quickly find the button pressing it before rushing to look back to the road. Your eyes widen. Your foot slides off the gas pedal to slam on the breaks. With a couple of inches to spare, you let out the breath you didn’t realise you held, relaxing your shoulders. The deer you managed to save seems to stare right through you. Maybe you should just stick to making it there in one piece.
It doesn’t take much longer for you to come across a dull blue sign with the letters: B_AC_G__E. With the sun hitting the sign at the right spot, you can make out the missing letters, reading out what you were hoping it said. In front of you, the city of Blackgate sits quietly, looking deserted on the edge of a large forest. It looks exactly like what you had seen in the photos inside the file that sits in your back seat. Compared to the modernized buildings a mere half hour away, the town looks as if no one has bothered to update any of the structures since the fifties.
Your car rolls into town, and you quickly search for any sort of place to stay. A hotel, a motel, maybe a bed and breakfast? You turn down another street. Quickly, you spot the familiar off white picket sign for a bed and breakfast. Hopefully someone can help you out. You pull up to the curb just before the driveway, turn off the ignition, and step out of your car. You shed yourself of the jacket, finding it a little too warm now to keep it with you. Glancing around as you make your way to the front door, the town still seems to be asleep despite it being after ten in the morning. The stairs to the porch creak under your weight. You can feel the boards dip as you step on them, making you realize how old the place actually is. You turn back towards the street once more, finding the silence of the town unsettling, before you face the door again to knock on the chipped wood.
“Hello? Is there anyone here?”
Your voice echoes through the covered porch. With how empty the town feels, you swear your voice can be heard through the entire place.
Suddenly, the door swings open. Your eyes shift quickly to the person behind it. A man, who doesn’t look to be much older than you, stares at you with wide eyes and a fearful look on his face. His arm snaps out in front of him, grasping onto your forearm, and pulls you inside.
“Get in.”
You don’t have anytime to answer him before he slams the door shut behind you. You wince from the strong grip the man has on you as he pulls you through the entryway hallway and into the large front room. He lets go of your arm, shoving you into one of the couches in the middle of the room.
“Who the hell are you and how did you get here?” His words are laced with venom.
You stare at the man shockingly. Shouldn’t he be glad that you are coming to the bed and breakfast? You seem to be the only one here, and yet it sounds as if you aren’t welcome to be a customer. The man doesn’t wait for you to answer. He shuffles quickly to the large windows facing the front of the building, pushing the dark curtains slightly to the side to peek out to the rest of the town.
“I’m Y/N L/N,” you hesitantly speak. “I’m a journalist for the Daily Bullet. I was-”
“Haven’t you guys already done enough?”
His head whips around to glare at you.
“I- I’m not sure what you mean.” You furrow your eyebrows.
The man steps away from the window, making his way to stand in front of you. His tall frame towers intimidatingly over you. You lean back against the back of the couch, curling in on yourself slightly. The fire in his eyes warns you not to push your luck any more than you already have in the past few minutes.
“I’m damn sure you know what I’m talking about. Why else would you be here? We told you to never come back after what you did.”
You look at him, bewildered by the words he spits at you. He scoffs, turning away from you to return to the window. Though when you finally gather the courage to speak up again, he locks eyes with you.
“You can’t leave now.”
“Excuse me?”
First he tells you that you were never welcome in the first place, but now you can’t leave? Who is he to tell you what to do? You can feel the anger rise up into your chest. Standing from the couch, you cross your arms in front of you.
“What do you mean I can’t leave now?”
The man doesn’t answer you. Rather, he drops his glare, turning to the doorway of the room, and brushes past you without another word.
“Hey!” you call out. “I asked you a question!”
You follow him out of the room. The floorboards creak lightly under you as you practically stomp after the man. He doesn’t look back at you until you come to a stop before a room with a large bed sitting towards the center; a simple bedroom.
“You can stay here. Curfew is 8:30pm sharp.”
“Why is-”
“Don’t leave the house until after sunrise. And don’t even think about leaving town.”
“Can I-”
“Don’t expect any five course meals from me. Dinner is at 7pm.”
You groan, exasperated. “Stop speaking over-”
“You should be glad I’m letting you stay here.”
Without another glance, the man walks away. So much for being somewhat nice to your guest. You roll your eyes, stepping into the room. There isn’t much—a queen sized bed, an empty closet, a small dresser in the corner, and a bookshelf with a handful of books near the covered window. Not very homey, but it’s at least somewhere to sleep. You move to sit on the edge of the bed. The mattress is not as comfortable as it looks. Whatever, you think. Probably won’t be getting much sleep anyways.
With a tired sigh, you stand back up to go retrieve your luggage from your car. Luckily the rude man is nowhere to be seen as you make your way to the front door. But almost as if he were a ghost, he appears as you reach out to the door handle.
“Where are you going?”
His voice is just as low and gruff as it was a couple minutes ago. It makes your body shiver in panic, not expecting him to apparate from behind you. You turn to look at him, jingling the set of keys in your hand.
“To my car? I have to get my things out of it.”
“I’ll do it.”
He doesn’t ask for your keys, rather roughly taking them from your hand. Pushing past you, he unlocks the excessive amount of locks that line the door frame. How many does he need? He steps through the threshold, making a beeline to your car. You watch as he unlocks your car, popping the trunk open, and pulling out the two bags you had placed in there. As he is about to lock your car again, you call out to him.
“I have a few things in the back seats as well.”
Though you can’t hear him, you can tell he is grumbling out some sort of curse directed at you. He pulls open the rear door, a little too hard for your liking, and grabs the file and your laptop bag from the seats. You wince at the slam of the door, mentally apologizing to your car. The man treks back into the house with your bags. He mumbles out to you, telling you to lock the door, before he walks through the hallways to drop the stuff off in your temporary room.
“Thank you- sorry I didn’t get your name.”
“I didn’t give it to you.”
You watch as he walks back out of your room, disappearing into the rest of the house. You sigh, shaking your head and closing the bedroom door.
