I would bet my absolute life that question would not have been asked if buck or bobby had walked up those stairs this wasn’t an innocent comment it WAS RACIST intentionally like the entire point of the episode was to show how bad they had it

• going out of his way to treat them like outcasts and hating chimney before he even knew him despite chimneys efforts

A defence I see a lot for this is “oh he was closeted” and honestly to me that is such bullshit because 1. Now when Tommy was first reintroduced I was like keeping an open mind and saying okay it’s been a lot of time and maybe he has genuinely made amends because I do believe in redemption but imo they have made no attempt to show us that and had him honestly put more of the blame on Gerrard for his behaviour or the writers flat out avoiding mentioning it to retcon tommy a little and hope we forget

Another defence I see is “oh chimney and hen became friends with him so they must’ve forgave him”, hen went no contact the moment he left (something the writers went out of their way to include that line) and chimney didn’t even invite him to his wedding which was quite big after the Buckley parents got involved so it’s not like it was cos it was such a small and intimate wedding and he only called him as far as we know in those years when he needed a favor, which all means that most likely they had kinda just put it behind them and kept up a coworker relationship with him, but no actual friendship or actual forgiveness or redemption had taken place

Like if we look at canon we can literally break down the entirety of Tommys appearances this far in the show and what we learn about him:

• chimney begins- he makes a racist comment and he tries to suck up to Gerard, there is a little hint abt his gayness with the gf comment, Eli says to chimney that’s just how they are and tries to reason it could be fear of losing friends but we see tommy having friends in the firehouse while eli says this, chimney tries to make friends with him and tommy makes no attempt to get to know him and says he’d hate him anyways, chimney saves Tommys life thus earning his respect

• hen begins- she’s met with the same racism chimney is but also met with misogyny (and homophobia but that’s not relevant to the tommy of it all), we find out chimney is still isolated from the rest despite having earnt that respect, chimney befriends hen and again tommy still doesn’t try anything like that until hen proves herself and earns his respect, ppl reported Gerard but it’s never actually stated tommy was one of those ppl so again that’s not canon that’s speculated

• bobby begins- chimney and hen both seem to be like coworker friends with tommy and Sal, Sal throws hissy fit bobby “fires” him tommy says it’s an overreaction bobby reveals it was a transfer, they all seem to make nice, tommy leaves to 217

• chimney calls tommy for help and tommy helps

• we see nothing from tommy,then cruise ship he helps the team but also in this we find out hen cut off all contact since he left

• buck takes tour of harbour, Eddie and tommy have a friendship and we find out some of Tommys interests and that he was in the army, basketball scene and the subsequent apology and kiss

• dinner date, Tommy explains how he was in the closet, Buck has his little awkward moment (which will be elaborated on in my next point) , Tommy says nothing abt it till the Uber arrives and he leaves buck

• buck reaches out and apologises and asks for a second chance inviting tommy to the madney wedding

• bachelor party and the issue of the lack of costume and not just taking the day off for neither wedding nor bachelor party (which you can reason is reasonable but also I feel like this deserves its point for the narrative choices)

• tommy shows up straight outta work they kiss buck has the soot coming out award ceremony - buck being happy abt the reward to which tommy sardonically says enjoy it while it lasts enter bigoted cunt gerard then chimney comes and insults gerard and they walk away

The defences people use for this are:

And as things develop it is also clear that this story is built around the characters and not the other way around

Like I totally get why people love actual plays that are Dramatic and Big and Intricate and Epic Fantasy

But I spent most of my time as a player dreaming of a game that was structured around the PCs instead of us just having to play within the DMs world. It’s what I bring as a DM and it’s so the vibe FH gives me.

And it’s improvised! Like I can tell! Brennan Lee Mulligan obviously spends an enormous amount of time planning, it’s true. But when it comes to the moment, if something else is better—he does that!

Generic characters get turned into genuine NPCs. Like. There’s no way that the halfling family were meant to be anything more than a bit part. There’s just not. They remind me at the start of that little Dutch family in the commercial about learning English—the cute, polite ones dancing to the deeply explicit song. And then the players get invested. Ask if they’re gonna make it, if they’re okay, etc etc

And Brennan’s first response has such “that’s not our story” vibes.

And then he rethinks and he brings them back to check on the kids. And at some point he either thought “ooh this is gonna be funny” or “what kind of person would actually go pick up a group of kids fighting a gang to the death in the street?” And he just amps it up to eleven. It’s great.

And that whole halfling encounter leads to the ice cream shop with the super vivid ice cream elemental character. Did Brennan have that character in his back pocket? Possibly. He could’ve developed a bunch of shops in town. But I’ll tell you that I’ve improvised characters that my players found just as memorable. And now they’re going for ice cream again so it’s gonna be A Thing

And then T-Bone, the bouncer! There is no way this character was meant to be anything other than a bit obstacle, and now he works at their school. Because it was important to the PCs. I’ve seen any number of DMs, actual play and otherwise, who shut that stuff down. “Oh no the school isn’t really appropriate.” “You don’t think this will get anywhere with Goldenhorde.” Or finding another job posting to shuttle the character off. But the players want it so the players get it.

And Brennan is constantly throwing out these little details that just beg for character empathy. T-Bone’s sick dog. How the necromancer kid loved his little rat, named himself after emancipation, and wanted so desperately for the cemetery caretaker to like him. Those throwaway lines about Johnny Spells’ gang- “how’s his home life? It’s–it’s bad!” and “yeah they all had names, and backstories [starts listing them off]”

I’ve never seen another actual play where the players and DMs have DnD bits. Where it’s like. Funny but also we’re taking it seriously.

Idk. I’m probably not describing it the best but it’s just exactly how I love to play & run games and it feels so Genuine to my experiences where most actual plays just don’t connect

One day, everyone is in the tower discussing stuff. And idk how it would lead up to it. But essentially goes like

Stephen: I'll have to ask the wife.

Tony: you have a wife. You of all people? What- did you buy some bimbo off ebay?

Essentially just absolutely dissing him not at all believing that he has a wife etc etc. And Stephen is all annoyed and says something in defense. And eventually reader goes

"The wife says no." While glaring at Tony

You knew the meeting was important. It was the only time when all the Avengers were on planet, in dimension and with no missions.

A rare occurrence.

Which was why Tony Stark had decided to call in all the Avengers to discuss their most recent missions and take notes. In case there was some other threat looming over the horizon that could potentially destroy the planet.

So far, no one had reported anything out of the ordinary. And you were glad. Not only because the world was at peace for the time being, but also because it meant your husband didn't have to run off on a mission that required his expertise.

Your husband was none other then Dr. Stephen Strange.

And when it came to the nature of your relationship, no one knew.

Or perhaps some of them knew. But if they did, no one had revealed it to anyone else. Which was just how the both of you preferred it to be.

Mostly because it provided you two with the privacy that you needed, and given your line of work, the more secretive a relationship the better. If Barton could hide his entire family from the rest of the world as well as the Avengers for a good many years, then you and Stephen could hide the nature of your relationship as well.

Not that you were ashamed of it or anything. Nothing of the sort. The decision was made on behalf of the fact that the nature of your jobs was life-threatening. He had his fair share of enemies, and you had yours. And while both of you were capable of holding your own against the opposing forces, there was no harm in taking extra precaution.

Hence the secrecy of your relationship.

Though for the last few days or so, you had been discussing about getting it out in the open. At least to the rest of the Avengers.

At present you were listening to Captain America as he assigned the next set of missions to everyone. There were only a few, and you had been paired with AntMan who had waved at you. You smiled and waved back. You liked working with Scott, he was always fun to be around.

However, you did not miss the way Stephen's eyes found yours. You only gave him a small smile and a wink, knowing how much he preferred that the both of you take on missions together.

But hey, he couldn't always get what he wanted.

Just then Tony asked Stephen a question, to which your husband was a little late with his response. Prompting Tony to gaze quizzically at him.

"Feeling alright there Dumbledore? Don't want you flaking out on me during the mission." Apparently Stephen had been paired with Tony Stark aka Iron Man himself. The realization prompted you to hide your smile behind your hand.

"Stop calling me that." Stephen stated in a deadpan voice, which only served to make Tony goad him further.

"Oh lighten up. Or should I say Lumos?" This time a giggle did escape you, but you weren't the only one. Anyone who got the reference let out a small laugh at your husband's expense.

"You need to learn to take a joke Strange, but think about it? You're a single fella going on a mission where the majority of the population on the planet is female, should double your chances of getting laid wouldn't it?" Since he was already married to Pepper, Tony of course made no mention of himself being in the same category as Stephen.

You frowned, your previous mirth forgotten as you glared at Tony. You knew it wasn't his fault for making such a remark, but you still couldn't help the small sliver of jealousy as well as anger that burned in you at the thought of Stephen being around all those women. Not that you didn’t trust him, you just didn’t trust females you didn’t know.

Stephen, ever the observant husband, was quick to pick up on your mood, even from sitting across the table on opposite ends. Perhaps your reaction was what compelled him to say what he did next.

"I don't know Stark, I'll have to ask the wife."

Instantly the whole atmosphere of the room changed. Everyone, even those who had their suspicions, turned to stare at the Sorcerer Supreme with a gobsmacked expression on their faces. You were one of them. You certainly hadn't been expecting him to come out and say it like that.

Tony was the first one to recover. "You have a wife? You?!" He let out a laugh of disbelief at which Stephen raised an eyebrow at him. "What did you buy her off E-Bay or something?" He continued to joke. Somehow he didn't think it possible for someone so uptight as Strange to have a girlfriend, let alone a wife.

"I mean come on Strange, if you want to lie, at least make it a convincing one." He continued with a roll of his eyes.

Stephen glared at Tony. “And why would I lie about having a wife?” The man shrugged. “You tell me. You’re the one who’s lying.”

“How about I just call her and ask?”

So saying Stephen drew our his phone from a pocket dimension and pressed dial on the number that was saved under your name.

Everyone could hear the phone ringing at the other end. What no one had been expecting was for your phone to start ringing within those first few seconds.

Your gaze was fixed on Tony’s as you picked up your phone from the table and accepted the call. Stephen instantly hit the speaker button, while you raised your phone to your ear and calmly spoke into it.

“The wife says no.” Your voice rang loud and clear, live as well as from the speaker of Stephen’s phone.

The reactions were instantaneous. While some only stared in disbelief, others were more vocal about it. Tony was the former, staring at the both of you, his brain unable to process what had just occurred. You ended the call before standing up and pretended to dust off the front of your skirt. “Husband? Would you mind taking us home now? I believe the meeting is over.”

Stephen stood as well, the triumphant look in his eyes was visible to everyone as he began to walk towards you, pulling out his sling ring as he went and sliding it on.

“Of course, my dear.”

He opened a portal to your shared rooms right behind you. Once he reached you his arm came to wrap around your waist, pulling you close to his side as he smiled at you.

“Oh and Stark? Do refrain from making remarks about my wife in the future.”

“I didn’t know you had one!” Tony defended himself. Which was true.

You smirked at him. “Well, now you do.”

With that you stepped through the portal. Though you couldn’t help but glance back one last time, if only to catch a glimpse of their still stunned faces.

Good thing your husband had a flair for the dramatics just as much as you did.

Aside from their no nonsense personality, this person is a chatty person. They know when to have fun in a responsible manner. Creative came to mind. Growing up on the streets they did not celebrate holidays for many reasons. He hated them for a long time. but seeing the twins opening gifts on the in universe equivalent of christmas, lin, kya, and asami over for dinner while korra and bolin were away during the timeskip and seeing the twins so happy and opening gifts and stuff. He found he could enjoy the holiday again and even was looking forward to the next years dinner when the twins were older and bolin and korra were back.

That might be an unpopular opinion (idk) because of the narrative framing but frankly in UnOrdinary, the school hierarchy actually makes a lot of sense.

You're in a world where, at the minimum, 99% of the people have a power of some sort. While most of them have mundane powers (see Evie's flashlight, Isen's tracking ability, or what's-her-name from the beginning who could grow her hair at will and make it take shapes) or powers that are not too dangerous for their peers (Arlo's barrier, that girl who could see a few seconds into the future, Darren's "shadow" or the security guard who could sense people walking into his area), there are also extremely destructive powers.

There are kids who can become invisible (with all the abuse it can generate), there are kids who can shoot energy beams that can break walls, there are kids who can generate enough electricity to kill someone, there are kids who can freeze time and do whatever they want... there are also kids who are just stronger than everyone else or faster (Heinz, Zeke...) and there's a lot of potential for bullies to misuse their powers.

Heck, even for non bullies, a kid who has anger issues and the "right" powers could easily destroy a room or injure other kids. Sure, the answer to anger issues isn't to beat the guy into compliance to the rules.

But the hierarchy's goal, at the beginning, isn't to beat the weaker people. The hierarchy (the school one, with it's King Queen Jack system)'s goal is to have three kids, the most powerful of the school, make sure that the weaker (but still powerful) kids will stay in line and reduce bullying.

I wrote another essay about it for a video game which wasn't the point but basically in a school were the pupils might be more powerful than the teachers, be it because it's an "elite" school with middle class teachers for royalty and billionaire kids, or a "magic" school in which the teachers' magical level might be inferior to that of the kids (as in, not a school where you learn magic, but one where magical beings go) it makes sense that the kids would be supposed to regulate themselves without needing an adult to step in, since adults wouldn't be able to do much, particularly in case of fight.

So put kids in charge of it. Why?

Because telling the three most powerful kids "if you keep the rest in check, you'll get an extra credit" (or something) means also neutralizing said three kids, with promises and threats, so they are not going to be the ones wrecking havoc.

Because it teaches responsabilities to the most powerful kids. They're the ones most likely to get in trouble later for their powers, or to have great responsabilities, for example in politics, the army, or jobs where their powers might be the reason they stay alive. If they learn as soon as middle school to be the voice of reason, it might create a better society, with elite kids being taught to be aware of bullying and avoid it, future soldiers and cops taught not to abuse their power, etc

Because telling the middle level kids "hey, the faculty won't do anything for you if the higher levels decide to beat you up as punishment for bullying weaker kids" might actually work (in a fucked up way) in making them stay in line and not bully the weakest.

Basically, if the hierarchy worked the way it was supposed to be (aka not the way Arlo made it work because he tried to over-correct what Rei had messed up when he had been king) it would be the most efficient way to teach kids responsabilities, to keep the would-be bullies in line, and to protect the teachers since physical fights would be left to break to powerful kids instead of weak teachers.

The only reason it doesn't work is because UnOrdinary's society is decadent and slowly crumbling down, the hierarchy is seen as a tool of oppression even by the people who participate in it (although they see that as "yes! we can oppress people!") instead of regulation, and the government is corrupt, as well as basically every authority figure.

Jaehyun's reason for being most likely to date a foreigner is because he loves them honestly 🤣? He likes the attention and praise he gets ("JAMALLLL" 💀). Jaehyun could also feel more compatible with them. I heard "Idk they just hit differently" help??? He finds them extremely attractive. So the love is mutual lol. Jaehyun is pretty delulu when it comes to his foreign fanbase so he feels more confident dating a foreigner who’s also a poc.

Jungwoo's energy feels more shy? He's the type to stare at someone he'd find attractive and wouldn't want to approach them given his job position and everything. So if Jungwoo had a crush he'd most likely gaze at their beauty or be very respectful with his approach. He could behave like a gentleman and pull out chairs for someone, open doors, etc. "No, no I insist!" Jungwoo would keep his feelings a secret but if he were to see someone he liked more frequently and were possibly friends with them, he'd ask them politely if they'd like to go for coffee or something.

Mark I feel is more accustomed to being with just about any type of girl so I don't feel he has a specific preference, but he does have a type. I think out of everyone he is the most confident to ask a foreigner out. Mark is "understanding" of how foreign women are (*nene leakes voice* whatever that means). He could have a belief that: "Don't bother approaching woc if you're broke". 😭 I feel like Mark likes taking on the provider role or being the one who pays for things in a relationship. (Channeled song: Wanna Be A Baller by Lil Troy & Pimpin' All Over by Ludacris). He's immature in some aspects romantically but he'd be a fun fuck buddy basically.

Johnny relates more to foreigners than he does than Korean citizens. So he could date like a foreign poc or other foreign Asians that are similar to him. For example, First generation citizens would peak his interest because it would be a similar background to his. He could date mostly the "Suburban" type of poc. Johnny's dating history isn't as diverse as the others in comparison but he is open to it!

Taeyong is leaning towards the idea but not entirely if it makes sense. The desire is there but he’s also aware that being in a relationship with someone who’s not from the same background as him would be a difficult path to pursue. He could know people who are mixed or in interracial relationships possibly? As in half Korean or friends his age who have a partner who’s not the same race, so hearing their experiences makes him very understanding of that and he would want to approach someone who’s not the same race as him without as much knowledge as possible. I find this response to be the best in my opinion. It seems that Taeyong would want to be educated about his partner and their culture. He isn’t a “I don’t see color” type of person, he acknowledges it and would want to make an effort by doing things right.

Taeil is more of the person who needs to be friends with someone first before entering a relationship. He could be very open with how he communicates and speaks his mind. I don’t feel he would have an issue complimenting someone or telling them he’s attracted to them. I don’t believe he has a preference honestly. It’s whoever he is attracted to at the moment that he’d date.

If the opportunity presented itself then yes, Yuta would date a foreigner. I feel it would be more of a fling though. He’s not interested in settling down at the moment. Yuta prefers to see how things unfold naturally and doesn’t date with the intention of a committed relationship. His mindset is like “If I fall in love, cool, if I don’t, that’s cool too “. He’s more free spirited when it comes to love.

WinWin could be in a relationship with someone already 😭? Or this just means he’s dated a foreigner before? He doesn’t think much of it. He’s romantic so any person who intrigues him, WinWin would be happy regardless. If there’s a connection he’d be willing to explore that dynamic.

Doyoung is too concerned with financial matters to date a foreigner. He believes his fanbase would react negatively to it? His image is more important to him and would feel dating a foreigner would damage that (yikes…). I believe he’d also be worried they’d only want to be with him for his money.

Haechan is more traditional. He’d want to date someone with similar values and from the same background as him. It’s not something that interests him or has ever crossed his mind. His intentions are to marry someone who’s also Korean and plans to pass down family customs.

You know what is a mistake in Season 7 of Buffy? Bringing back the high school. It is absolutely a set-up for some good gags, don't get me wrong; and maybe the concept of the high school re-opening is fine, it can be there. But Buffy gets a job there, the principal is a main character, etc, its set up as the "arc concept" for the season.

But it is not at all. The First has nothing to do with the high school beyond proximity to the Hellmouth, Buffy's job never really matters, Principal Wood is relevant for his past and his role as a freelance demon hunter, not for his job. By the later half it recedes to the background, and by the final arc its virtually absent (All the student's abandon it over the year, but this is not an arc plot, its a background fact). The finale takes place in it as a building, yes, but as an empty one.

Something the final season struggles with is Buffy taking on this role of building a Slayer Army but it not getting quite enough screen time. This is mainly due to the combination of arc-plots for the rest of the cast (particularly Spike) and one-off plots the show has as a drama-comedy. Killing off the school as a big concept could have really focused things on the actual plot - flesh out the new potentials more, more attempts to utilize them to fight the First (they are pretty much dead weight until the finale), expand the role of the Watcher's council (bombed into hell after one scene, off-screen, absolutely pathetic).

Of course something the school lets you do is give Buffy a job to resolve her financial woes from the past season. But you could fix that by idk having the Watcher's Council be responsible for five god damn seconds and pay her to take in and train the Potentials. I think you solve that problem somehow, Joss, I believe in you!

a kuwagami-related thought i've been mulling over since the start of june, which needs a little preface, so, bear with me a little

it's not that kuwana's and yagami's traumas have affected them the same way, or are even of the one kind. the point kuwana is making, there was a bad thing in their past, and it has changed them irreversibly into the men they are now. (idk, i have seen way too many times how his "we're the same, you and i" line gets interpreted into kuwana being completely delusional about yagami, and if i remember correctly, i've made that same assumption myself, so, no blaming here, been there done that)

kuwana's just trying to appeal to yagami's own experience there, because the latter kinda. treats him like a scumbag he was before, not the person he is now. so, he tells him: there, i'm not the same person, because, as you, i learned from my mistakes. that callout calms yagami's bitchy nature for long enough for kuwana to share his story until the end.

but that's not what i was thinking over, or, not quite that. as they've each had tragedies of their own, where they have played different roles and have had different impact on what eventually happened, their traumas are only the same in the regard of consequences (= putting an innocent person into the most life-threatening situation possible, and how they'll always feel guilty about it though it wasn't their fault exclusively). but that's the main problem when comparing their means of redemption.

yagami's approach to life/investigations/etc is now reactionary. the "i will act if no one else will" kind. some may argue that he tries to prevent things and that's why he gets involved, but... bear with me here.

as emi's fate was something he could have never anticipated, and he did exactly what was expected of him at the moment, his regret is about not delving further until the truth is uncovered. that means, something must happen before for him to get involved (something like waku's death), and so, he gets involved now in the things that doesn't concern him, and stays there till the end, never stopping before all questions are answered and all truths are found out. that's what i mean by saying he reacts rather than prevents.

his fault in emi's death is of not doing enough, or anything, though he didn't have to do more than he did. he was a lawyer. he did his job. that's all he was supposed to be.

while kuwana's approach now is preventive in a sense that he won't do anything that will put anyone in danger. his main goal in all his killings, is to say "hey, there are consequences to your shitty actions, don't do it, at all" though he's been stupid about his means (how would anyone know about his "lesson" if the bodies and his motives have been a secret to others? idk), but whatever. yet, his main focus is to not endanger someone on his own volition. again, let me explain myself here.

mitsuru's suicide attempt is more of kuwana's fault than emi's death of yagami's. that's obvious. but you know the main difference here? he knew about the bullying. he COULD do something about it. that's what made him directly responsible while not being an actual perpetrator. more than yagami in his case, at least.

kuwana's fault is also, as yagami's, in not doing enough/anything, but, unlike yagami, he had the means to stop the tragedy before it had happened. he knew of the risks. so now, knowing there are consequences of each action and inaction he takes, he makes sure whatever he does won't put anyone in danger. (that's a funny take from me, because for the most of the game, yagami argues that kuwana doesn't care about that, but we all know he realises he was wrong about him, eventually.)

yagami and his friends? stop investigating mikoshiba's case (and later sawa's murder), you'll only put yourselves in danger. his former students? no, you don't have to kill anyone, you can even state that i made you help me under duress (nah, i'll still stand with that their cowardice and kuwana acting as a psychopath with them were the only reasons why they haven't gone to the police, though they totally could and had the chance to get away with everything much earlier. kuwana played into their weaknesses if anything). sawa? yeah, the entire thing at plage is a message for her to stay away, how kuwana admits himself.

he feels guilty about RK attacking liumang's hideout because of him. he makes up for leaving yagami alone before, near sawa's apartment, and doesn't do the same mistake when soma finds them, against all odds (he and yagami did everything to not be discovered, kuwana made sure of that), on the boat. he runs as soon as possible when sawa calls him, though it kinda does sound like a trap even at that point; he just doesn't think about anything when he hears her crying (that one is a stretch a bit but. let me have this.). he agrees to meeting yagami in kamurocho when he kidnaps mamiya so he'd let her go (though, leaving his students as a distraction to get away from yagami is a dick move, no arguing here).

the point is, he doesn't want to cause any more harm. that's why kusumoto surrendering herself to the police is so tragic for him and breaks him so bad: he did the thing again. if not for him and his feeling of utter loneliness in his pain, she would've lived a happy life with her child. he doesn't want to admit it, doesn't want her to answer for his mistake, so he says it wasn't a mistake at all. again, kind of shitty, but, the whole thing he has going on is shitty, so here's that.

it's "i will act if no one else will" vs "i make sure i never create a situation endangering other people". the first one is self-destructive, the second one is self-deluding. perfect.

and i've been thinking that it's kind of interesting how they collide here, yagami getting involved even at the cost of his life vs kuwana who doesn't really want someone else to get hurt. that's all their running and chasing, and the reasons behind it, summarised. they both are stubborn, because they don't want to do the same mistake they did in the past, and they clash over it badly, convinced they are the one who does the right thing. it sucks because they are both right here, lol, in the end. or, rather, there isn't really a right answer of what one should do here. or something.

and the other unrelated funny thing that my friend who played JE and LJ for the first time pointed out is that kitakata did the same thing that yagami does at the start of the game: recording the bullying before he decides how to act appropriately. the difference is, yagami is someone from the outside and isn't really accustomised seeing this behaviour on the daily basis, and seeing how sawa acts (or, rather, doesn't) about the bullying (quoting her words: "i knew something was off but i didn't expect this", so, yeah), teachers stop seeing all the little signs as a threat big enough to act immediately. a part of the job, ignoring little signs is a means against burnout, or something like that.

kitakata has a concerned student nudging him to look closer (and he does). sawa has a help from outside, never intending to act before she saw the recording (and she is instantly involved into helping here). yagami does his job, the only task he was instructed to do here, and at a perfect moment (he is a complete outsider and doesn't see high school drama happening daily).

kitakata isn't that lucky, when sawa and yagami do the same job that kitakata does on his own. so, all three situations are completely different, and no one here is the biggest asshole, though all three of them can paint kitakata as one.

Hey Ira how do you finish stuff? i've been working on a project for months and i just cant find a way to complete it

see, the thing is my first instinctive response to this question was "idk, because i feel like i never finish anything either!"

i mean, obviously i DO, i finish stuff for work etc and if i really never finished anything then there would be nothing on this blog. but from where i'm standing it feels like the amount of stuff i've actually finished is like, a tiny tiny drop in the massive ocean of stuff i've THOUGHT about or WANT to do or maybe have even STARTED but are all collecting dust on the back burner

i think ive had the idea for project catboy since, like, 2017 or something, and i still only have the first draft outline done; i keep thinking i'm not ready to do it justice yet. i think the villains win has existed for a similar amount of time as a concept and i DID finally start it but i've been too busy/occupied w other things to continue. i've been wanting to open an online shop and sell prints + merch for years now, and have done maybe one or two steps in that direction, but then it keeps stalling and getting lost amidst my other more pressing to-dos

basically: i am always working on projects for months (and years!) and never finding ways to complete them, and any personal project i do end up finishing feels like a huge outlier most of the time

so i don't really have solid advice bc i struggle w it so much myself, but i guess i do have a "hey, you're not alone." just keep banging away at things and eventually some of it will pop through, even if most of it doesn't. if i try really hard to skim over the stuff that DOES get done and find a common thread, it's either 1. i literally Had to (work stuff etc,) or 2. i was EXTREMELY passionate/excited about it, and i had a plan/the scope was visible + digestible (i knew how it was going to end or i was kind of aware of all the parts that needed to come together, rather than just kind of writing/drawing endlessly into the abyss without being able to visualize how much progress i was making). if there's no end in sight, maybe the next best step is getting more specific/granular about what the end would actually look like; a lot of times i find that i THINK i know what a project would need to be done, but in reality it's all just a pretty vague concept in my head, and i never actually sat down and hammered out the steps of what i need to do/make! if you have a fixed endpoint, you can ALWAYS be inching toward it, even if it takes forever.

(also, do it shittier. im being so serious. whenever u get really stuck, do a shitty job just to get onto the next step. if you hit the finish line you can always go back and improve/redo things, but a lot of times you might look back and be like "actually the low effort version is fine, in the big picture")

the game ended on moment when all the demons were defeated and sent back to hell (except for Nafanya and Gra'azt, who now became leader of big group of drow and continues to get more drow on his side from Lolth(shes not happy about it lol))

Ronya got married to goblin widow Hikt (they threw the bouket in Sarit's face so hehe he's next lol) and now Ronya is mama of Hikt's kids from her last marrige - one allready young adult goblin booy, little girl, and baby boy (I don't remember where I wrote their names rip OTL)

Mao completelly turned into fairy and only had one year and one day left in mortal plane to live, and after that she will be joining the Wild Hunt

And Chiviss ( @tench-art 's character) became small demigod and now he had his own illithyd ship, his paladin friend Valya(they are in love but very slowburn/akward about it) and clone of human monk Lee who now has to help Chiviss by doing good things and help fixing stuff he fucked up - and Chiviss plans to travel across other worlds on his ship

AND WITH ALL THAT Ronya was left the only one to rule Fort Asshole (Sarit gave it that name and it stuck X'D ) the fort, that became shelter for many many people throghout our game - basically it was like big town or small city at this point

The game ended at Ronya being like "wait so whos gonna take care of the Fort now?"

and everyone were like "well now YOU are the queen of Fort Asshole, Ronya! your responsibility now byeeee"

and Ronya was like "WHAT THE FUCK IM NOT GOOD AT POLITICS AND MENAGMENT SHIT!!! IM GOOD AT CRUSHING DEMONS SKULLS WHAT THE FUCK GUYS"

But I think Ronya will found a union with other leaders of the different groups of citizens of Fort Asshole

such as orcs Hector and Azog, who represent the interests of orcs

myconid Lubomab, who represents the interests of myconids

Ronya herself as leader of goblins and bugbears

and half-orc Lidia, who represents the interests of everyone else and all kinds of minorities

and together they will come up with something X'D how to take care of the city and trading and etc. Fort Asshole became very important trading point, since now it has the big portal cirlce to the surface, while the last city(Malonderit, I cant find how the city should be written right, I only remember how it was pronaunced so eh), that had the portal to the surface - doesnt have it anymore. So yeah, Fort Asshole has all the chances of becoming big city eventually

I know from what our DM said, that at some point other bugbears of the city will become overly proud and will think of themselves more than other species, bc "our leader is so cool! she is the best and the strongest, and everyone else is weak loosers" so Ronya would have to beat some sense into them

she would tell them(more like angrily roar) that she would never get where she is now without help of her friends and comrades (hell she even DIED once and they had to get her ass a new fucking body), that everyone is equal here and that they should stop embarrassing her. And she would also add that its not bugbears who are stronger than everybody but its particularly HER who's stronger than everybody XD and if anyone of those bugbear assholes wants to argue with that - they can challange her to battle in orcs' arena and see if they could win her in wrestling battle. nobody's up for it? theN SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!

ALSO Ronya promissed her wife Hikt that she won't be risking her life as much as she did during demon invasion anymore so I guess her life gets less adventurie now

She would gladly teach kids her knowladge of hunting, tracking, scouting, and nature of underdark in general... when she has time lol, bc being leader is hella busy job (she didn't want it but she was choosen to do it U_U )

whats ur opinion on canon harry post epilogue? idk, some people say that he will be happy now that he can finally live a normal boring life, but my personal take is that he would also *think* that, yet sort of not be able to "sit still" after some time? like, you spend all this time running at any trouble you see and also running for your life, i feel like it wouldnt be as easy to settle down afterwards. although im not a big fan of the wizard cop ending he got, i feel like itd make sense if that was the context - that it was his easiest way to get back more of the "life or death battle vs dark magic" feeling that was his life for so long. what do you think?

I'm of the opinion that while Harry desperately wants the white-picket fence ending, he'd never be able to settle into it. His whole generation would struggle, but Harry in particular, I think.

He spent months being hunted like an animal, went through a war, died, had his soul ripped apart (because ain't no way the horcrux separated from him gently) and then came back to life just to fight some more. That would leave it's mark, and I think he'd be so desperate to 'fit the model' of the perfect life he wants afterwards that it would lead to him just being dissatisfied and upset.

That's why I don't actually mind him becoming an auror. For me, with the above context, I completely understand why he'd go into the field.

At first, it was probably to help with the clean up - he'd want to make sure all the remaining Death Eaters were rounded up and that things could transition into peace successfully. Make sure the ministry does its job, etc.

But the rush of the fights would be a bit addicting to someone who was raised in that sort of environment, and Harry would probably just...never leave the auror department as a result. He'd want to help people, to save them, and being an auror gives him that opportunity. I also think the ramifications of having the horcrux ripped out of his soul left Harry...not okay mentally. Especially in the first few years.

Being an auror would have given him a tangible goal to work at. It would have been active, something he could get his hands on and see the direct impact of his actions on the world.

The only way I see him settling after the war would be when he's much older - and by that point he'd be the head of the dmle and would feel too responsible to just walk away from the job.

It's...sad. But unfortunately a very realistic fate in my eyes.
