Rhine: I have so many, SO many iterations of her design but the one thing I want to keep consistent is both the ‘regalness/royalness’ of her design due to the game insinuating she was an important and possibly high ranking khaenrian, but also keeping it somewhat practical as first and foremost, she’s an alchemist. I haven't drawn it yet but I also wanted to draw her weapon to be a sword? A fencing sword specifically, since Albedo’s first few NA’s resemble that of a fencer. The eyepatch is must for a khaenrian character and the monstrous arm I wanted to represent Dain’s (purely for aesthetics sake, but I remember reading a post here about Rhine, in her pursuit for perfection being inherently and unchangeably flawed and oooohf that shit stuck)

Alice: Ofc I wanted to give her the same bubbly vibe as Klee though I was stuck on whether to make her design lean into that roundness or go sleek? Ultimately i went with the first just to keep more variety in all of the characters. I like imagining the hexen kids pick up things from their parents thus the steampunk vibe for Alice as she’s an inventor and tinkerer like Klee (potions and chemicals would have been more appropriate i suppose but i already did that gimmick with rhinedottir). A dash of four leaf clovers and a dodoco on the hat and that was that :]

Barb: Dont ask me how her hat works. i dont know. It just floats. Her design was deffo the simplest of three just bcus i didnt have much to work on beyond stars, moon, fate, and stuff and thus, it’s very derivative of Mona’s design elements unfortunately. I’ll probably go in later to make her look a bit older too…? I’m satisfied with the level of cunt she’s giving but I don’t think she fits Mona’s description of ‘old hag’ yet HAH

Looking back at my history with Sonic... it's so fucking surreal that I got to witness the births of 90% of this fandom's pairings.

I remember when Sonails used to be the absolute norm along side Sonally because most people were on the fence about whether Tails was a boy or not so they just defaulted to making him a girl. I still remember reading fanfics that referred to our little yellow menace as "she". This quickly got shut down though when Sega confirmed Tails as a "he". Sonails fell into obscurity because "GAY BAD" and it hasn't quite recovered from it... I dont think the people of today really want it to... but you can't really blame them. Nowadays it's hard to even imagine that Tails could've been mistaken for anything other than a dude. History is so fun lol.

I remember when Sonadow was invented. With the rising popularity in anime (specifically shounen anime), Shounen-Ai was creeping its way up there. Gay relationships were so goddamn taboo compared to nowadays but goddamnit if the taboo didn't capture your heart in some weird demented way- then I guess people got tired of the soft and fluffy "Shounen-Ai" and just wanted the gay porn, the "YAOI" and by god if Sonadow wasn't the most popular yaoi ship in existence... It still very much is but it's toned down in it's depraved raunchiness over the years. I still remember when it used to have like 5 names because people were so into trying to categorize it in the "Seme/Uke" fashion. Shadic/Shadonic/ShaSoni for Seme!Shadow and Uke!Sonic- which was and still very much is the most popular iteration of the ship, then you had SoniSha/Sonadow for the Seme!Sonic and Uke!Shadow version. Somewhere down the line, Westerners got too lazy to categorize and decided that "Sonadow" sounded the best because it rolls off the tongue nice and has a good mouth feel so it shall be the umbrella term for every iteration of Sonic x Shadow x Sonic. Sonadow has literally withstood the test of time for a whole 20 goddamn years and counting, if ANYTHING, yall HAVE to give this ship mad props for that. Not even Sonally can compare to that and Sonamy is a close second. I say Sonamy is a close second because it was never really enjoyed as Sonic and Amy being cute together (yes, like every ship, there are people who actually genuinely enjoyed it but the climate was the complete opposite). Sonamy was "enjoyed" because it was either better than Sonally or because it wasn't "gross gay yaoi shit" like Sonadow and other upcoming ships.

NEXT IS SONKNUX. It's always been an understated ship but it definitely became a little more popular when Sonadow got big because "MORE YAOI". I remember not having very strong feelings for the ship. I didn't hate it but I didn't care for it either, it was more like "yeah ok that makes sense if you're going to make it gay". It was never "OMG SO POPULAR" but it did have a following you had to acknowledge, like even the most delusional people couldn't deny this ship lol. There was also Knuxadow but at the time it was barely even a thing, it was an obscure rarepair but not so much anymore.

Now the go to for Knuckles ships was and still definitely is Knuxouge. God I remember all of the misogynistic flavored fan art and fan fics for this pairing- like, I get it. Rouge got nice curves, big ass, and fat tiddies while Knuckles got that big dick (which I'm going to say he doesn't because there's literally nothing there... there's nothing there except for smooth red fur... nothing-) and hypermasculinity. I get it. I loved this ship tho, there was more porn of it than genuine fan art and fan fics, but I mean yall get the picture. Im pretty sure yall can grasp the climate that surrounded this ship back in the day.

Knuxpio is also a ship but it was super obscure, like only deep divers got into it. I guess that still kinda rings true today because although there are definitely more people to appreciate it, it's still not on the public stage like alot of other ships. Same goes for Knuxighty and most other Knuckles ships.

CRAILS... TAILREAM... TAILS X CREAM. I am almost positive we still don't have a definitive ship name for these two but boy do I remember when these two little demons blew up. I used to like this ship because I thought it was super super adorable- like, here you have Sonic with all of these love interests but what about Tails? Tails should have a little someone of his own. In walks Cream in all of her adorable little bunny glory..... and Charmy too- BUT EVERYTHING WENT SO BAD SO FUCKING FAST. IT WAS NO LONGER CUTE. Welcome to the big popularity boom of shotacon and lolicon outside of Japan.

and he makes a Plan. he Planned this. he is gonna be subtle and coy and it's very strategic, u see. in typical vyn fashion, he is going about this with the goal of having the upper hand the entire time by orchestrating many scenes that Just so happen to have vyn lounging around Wet in the general proximity of artem who has eyes.

and for all that artem is a dolt when it comes to reading the room or reading between the lines, vyn employs that Clear Forwardness thats still skirting the edges, the BECKONING VIBES OF IT ALL.

tho unlike how he does that w mc, vyn is still, deep down, an asshole towards artem. mutual asshole-ry. that doesnt magically change cuz vyn wants artem's kickstand dick.

But really they hang out, they go to town when they feel like it (rarely) and they kill time waiting for their sentence to be up…not at all like prison, but also similar :)

That’s on regular days, but in the story, MC starts to shake things up a bit, especially as the antagonist enters the narrative, so they’ll get pretty busy now…

i have thought about this just a tad because i hc that bob and fanboy love comics, but i never thought specifically about a topgun!batfam, so here's the little bit i've got for you!

okay you can't convince me that ice doesn't remind you of either clark (yes he isn't in the batfam but im putting him there as an honorary member) or alfred and lemme explain why-

ice as clark: boyfriends with mav aka batsy, tries to keep his bf in check, fails most of the time, very by the book and follows the rules

ice as alfred: keeps mav/bats in check, looks out for his well-being, the actual one in charge of the family but lets mav/bats believe he is

2. mav

mav is bruce through and through to me. i think this because he basically adopts all the pilots as his own children and wants to keep them safe by teaching them how to protect themselves (like in the air w/ dogfighting) like how bruce does with his vigilante kiddos. also i imagine the tough love and strained relationships bruce has with some of his kids is just like mav and rooster- also not to mention the lasting trauma both bruce and mav have from their early years still haunts them both every day.

3. rooster

i was on the fence about who bradley would be, but i think he would be a great dick grayson and lemme explain why- dick is bruce's first kid that he's ever taken care of. of course with being the first, it's a different experience compared to those who come after you. there's pressure on both the parent (bruce/mav) and him to be the best and live up to expectations. besides this, he was the experimental kid and also holds a personal responsibility over the others (also fitting since bradley's callsign is rooster). dick is also consistently good natured and reliable in most iterations of him and i think this is fitting with bradley. he is kind natured and naive and sometimes doesn't think things through before he does something. there are times he can be scary when he's angry (def rooster vibes) and he's def the type to hold grudges, kinda like how rooster held one against mav for the papers incident.

4. hangman

i was also unsure about who jake would be, but i think i'm going to say he reminds me of jason. theres a lot of iterations of jay and how he behaves and how his relationship with the family is, so imma just keep this pretty general concerning his personality and also say hes on shaky ground with the others. as we all know, he is considered one of the black sheep in the family. after dying and coming back as red hood, things have been difficult to say the least. however, he still is just as strong, brave, selfless, impulsive, and smart-mouthed as he was before he died. i think these traits are fitting for jake. considering his callsign is hangman and the story we all know behind it, he also relates to how jay is a lone wolf more than half the time, but they both are becoming better at playing on a team.

5. phoenix

i think phoenix would be cass. needless to say, cass had a rough upbringing (we will not go into detail). i definitely think phoenix would have a hard upbringing as well as being the oldest sister of two younger brothers trying to help her mother after her father's tragic passing (this is my own hc btw). besides this, cass upholds bruce's moral code and is determined to prove herself to her newfound family and especially to bruce as she wants to take up the mantle later on. concerning phoenix, i think she also holds herself to a high standard especially with being a female pilot in the navy. she is also fiercely loyal and protective of her crewmates. i also think these two are just badass women.

6. bob

it took some deliberating for bob here, but i think he would be tim. tim is not only incredibly smart, he is a great detective and is also pretty gutsy as well. he is a passionate person and works extremely hard to prove his worth (he is a huge workaholic). with all these traits of his, i think bob would fit him really well. bob is definitely perceptive of others and in tune to how everyone is feeling (my hc and also just comes with the fact he is a "stealth pilot" lmao).

7. fanboy

i think mickey would be duke. duke is like the light of the family in my opinion. though i havent read much of his content, i do know that hes like an empath. when he works as a vigilante, he goes out there and uses his emotions to guide him unlike some of the other members. he is also lowkey self-sacrificial and willing to do anything to protect others and his family. i think fanboy behaves the same. he cares about his family and would do anything to protect them. he definitely brings smiles to the crew and keeps morale up in my opinion. in conclusion, fanboy is a blessing and so is duke.

8. payback

payback would be lucas. lucas is no doubt extremely intelligent like his father, strong, and he is also a great fighter considering he is a boxer, as well as being trained in mma and cage fighting. besides this, he is great at tactical analysis and engineering. i totally think payback fits the vibes luke exudes and he is also just as capable as him. both of them are like the rock in the team. they're there for anyone who needs them. (i also think they're both pretty mentally stable or as much as you can be as a crime fighter in gotham)

9. coyote

coyote reminds me of steph. steph is incredibly athletic and talented, but she also has trouble regulating her emotions. she sometimes lets her emotions get the better of her and she is also one for feeling an adrenaline rush. i feel like javy could definitely relate with her. however, despite her weaknesses, she is a great vigilante and very street-smart and pragmatic. when she does something, it has meaning behind it and i think javy does the same. when he flies, he's a team player and is strategic as to how he can lead his team to victory and get them home. both him and steph are also sarcastic and witty, often throwing out some quips at others who provoke them as well lmao.

it was kind of poetic really, now that sam looks back at it, when an angel of the lord gripped his brother and dragged him out of hell and then a whole decade later the man insisted he takes him wherever he goes. He was there, barely conscious but all the well knowing what was about to happen as the angel tried to weakly push him by his bloodied hand on the same shoulder that once bore his handprint, as dean clutched the trenchcoat tight, not willing to let him go, not again, (1/4)

they were close oh so close, but they never kissed, even though it felt like they should, he watched as black liquid surrounded them and then after an eternity started to ebb away leaving nothing but a clear patch of grassless land on the huge area. jack had died saving the world, his grace swallowing up the two cosmic entities in bright light and his body dissolving into thin air and that's when the empty came, he was confused because cas wasn't happy at all, (2/4)

hell, he looked like he could crumble right there when he saw last of Jack's grace shine so bright then dim away. The empty had broken its promise, saying ‘if there's something worse than dying after finally being happy it's dying broken.’ Sam should've tried bringing them back, but really, could he ? was there even some guide for this situation ? he couldn't do it anyway, a week or two ago eileen called, (3/4)

turned out she's pregnant, well, he should've been more careful that date night, but what's done was done, and he was just, he was... tired of it all okay ? tired of this life, so he bought a nice picket fence house near garth's house, it was kind of nice. he now watches his own 5 year old play with cas and sam. his son and cas seem fairly close, teaming up against sam and they play games, it almost feels like life is mocking him then, "dad!" dean yells and smiles, sam returns it. Hey, you said crunch/overworking in your industry is a more complex issue than people are saying. Could you talk about that a bit more? Like, what other factors play into that? I'm looking to get into a similar industry and was just curious.

2 people asked me to talk about this in more detail so here we go! For reference im in the mobile games part of the industry rn so i dont have AAA experience but a lot of the people i work with do and ive heard many a horror story. Anyway…

In my experience the reason crunch happens is mainly to do with the iterative nature of games. You have a date to hit but everything in the game is constantly changing. You could work for days or weeks on something that gets completely scrapped so now you have to make up for lost time.

And theres no real fix for that, there will always be something that doesnt work and needs to be changed no matter how much planning you do. Its not that there’s too much work and not enough workers, its the way the work has to be done thats the problem.

Sometimes a big change has to go back through the whole pipeline which can cause blockages and thats not good when youre already behind schedule.

So you work extra hours and weekends to catch up.

So why cant you just push the deadline back?

1) video games are expensive to make. Youre gonna keep making changes forever and at some point you arent going to make a profit anymore. So a lot of people on here would say “then perish” but then i would be out of a job so im on the fence LOL

2) sometimes deadlines are made with other companies when youre working wih IPs that you don’t own so you gotta keep them happy.

3) maybe theres a big event like Christmas and if you miss it you’ll lose a LOT of money. This was a big thing with free to play mobile games ive worked on. When you miss the christmas update youre talking potentially millions of dollars.

But okay my advice about joining the industry: if youre passionate and able to suffer through a little overtime its worth it. But if you arent mentally/physically able to handle crunch/stress it might not be for you. Keep in mind crunch isnt the norm and doesnt usually last too long. (In my mobile game experience) if you genuinely care about the game the crunch isnt as painful. It varies from company to company though. Again, complex issue.. Okay ive rambled long enough. Feel free to ask more questions!

i'll be honest, im on the fence about this au, HAHA. i dont enjoy many hanahaki aus, ive only enjoyed very few fics ive seen using the premise.

i stray away from hanahaki au being true unrequited simply bc, yeah, unrequited makes me cry kJBKJSDF. i also stray away from hanahaki au where the hanahaki is LETHAL WHEN NOT CURED bc i dont enjoy major character death.

and lastly, i also also stray away from hanahaki au starting out unrequited, but then the one who is Loved learns about the afflicted character, and begins to love them back, thus curing the hanahaki. this is because im generally iffy at reciprocation after some kind of tragedy that is Directly Caused By The Person Who Did Not At First Reciprocate. theres something about that that personally rubs me the wrong way? like...kind of an emotional hostage situation, for the non-afflicted character? the afflicted character Literally Physically Suffering unless not loved back, what if the other person loves them back just to save them, it is...well, at the very least, my interpretation not nice to me, when i think about it deeply.

that leaves me with VERY LITTLE iterations of this au i enjoy HAHA. off the top of my head, here are two hanahaki au alternate strategies that i did enjoy!!!

hanahaki developing to the afflicted because they think they are not loved by the other, when in reality, they are. the cure is the afflicted character learning to open their heart to hope and trust. all the original "unrequited" angst but with a bright happy ending with the choice not made on the other party to love (bc theyve loved since the beginning), but made by the person themself to allow themself, to believe themself to be loved.

hanahaki not as a painful terminal illness but as a short term mildly annoying illness born from the start of crushes. like OOP, IVE GOT A CRUSH, AND I JUST COUGHED OUT A ROSE PETAL IN FRONT OF SAID CRUSH, ABORT, ABORT!!! VERY AWKWARD CUTE STUFF!!!
