Who the Batfam mains in Super Smash Bros Ultimate
a guide with help from @space-specs
Dick- Blue Kirby (kirby is a funky little fella and dick loves the ability to steal his siblings’ abilities and use it against them)
Tumblr media
Babs- Samus (specifically the black and yellow suit, that looks like batman. also samus is a badass female role model in a post apocalyptic type world. badass.)
Tumblr media
Jason- King Dedede (he likes playing the big character with the bigass hammer and makes it his mission every single time he and dick play to knock dick off first)(steph pokes fun at him for picking the pink and purple one but jason can still kick ass even with the pink character)
Tumblr media
Tim- Dark Pit (he’s an emo little bitch and absolutely has cosplayed as dark pit at least once for halloween. also winged characters are niceeee)
Tumblr media
Steph- Bayonetta (woman. also playing a very pretty adult character and taking out tim is very fun)(she wishes there was a purple costume one but this is fine enough and she likes the finishing move where legs stomp on enemies)(also. gun shoes! gun shoes! gun shoes!)
Tumblr media
Cass- Pikachu Libre (shes the only female pikachu option and shes also adorable. luchador pikachu is the best pikachu option in the game, and shes just so cute)
Tumblr media
Duke- Isabella (shes adorable and yellow, and unassuming. he absolutely decimates his siblings. he has a longstanding truce with jason that they will not attack each other unless they are the last two in the game and will work together to take out their other siblings)
Tumblr media
Damian- Greninja (damian plays pokemon games as a part of his learning to be a normal child. maps introduced him and collin to them and they play them together. greninja is his favorite of the pokemon in ssb ultimate and he has such a cool design)
Tumblr media
Bruce- Luigi (calls him mario. cannot be corrected.)(enjoys messing with his kids)

im gonna be real, and im sure you already know this, but we really need more normal people on tv. and i don't just mean normal as in "average-looking" or whatever.
when i go out about my day, when i go grocery shopping, when i take the bus, when i stop for lunch at the local joint... i see people missing teeth. i see people with lazy eyes. i see people with bad posture. sloped shoulders. limps. i see people with birthmarks on their face. i see people with unusual pigmentation (i have a friend irl who is piebald, and i've known plenty of people with hyperpigmentation). i see people who are fat everywhere, not just the places that are "sexy", and i see people who used to be fat and now have loose skin or still have it in their neck or arms. i see people who are hella lanky. i see people with acne. i see people with facial disfigurements. i myself am a fat amputee in a wheelchair. i see little people, and i see their adaptations to traversing huge places on their own (this one guy i see on campus uses a scooter!). i see people with greasy hair, or with split ends. i see normal everyday people.
you know, it's really hard to imagine a disabled person when you've never seen one. i see them all the time outside, at least in mildly accessible places, but rarely on tv. can't you hire an extra that uses a cane? an extra with a cleft lip? a wheelchair? maybe when you realize they can do the same work all the other actors can do, you'll deign to hire one as a secondary character once in a while, and maybe even a main character. maybe the familiarity will get us better treated in real life.
many affluent people don't realize how many adults are missing teeth. many, many adults are missing teeth. dentalwork is expensive, and shit food is more affordable. i never see them on the screen, unless it's as a joke. i think this effects how people react to people with missing teeth in real life. i think they deserve to be seen as normal and not morally-lacking. i think they deserve to be seen.
i dunno, man. there's SO much human variation. i know actors that look perfect are ideal because "beautiful" people are attention-grabbing, and the lack of a visual identifier like a disability or missing teeth or missing limbs helps them slide into a larger range of roles. i get it. but that isn't what the range of human variation looks like. that's a sliver. there are so many shapes and colors and sizes we come in. why not hire a little person to play the main characters friend? why not hire a fat person as a main character once in a while? why not just passively have characters missing teeth? or limbs? or eyes? without it being a plot point or a joke?

REGULAR STAR WARS SEQUEL TRILOGY MISERY ANGER POST: im sure there are elements about tlj that make people who aren’t just there for reylo like it but i just can’t see any of that beyond how absolutely fucking dirty that movie did finn. like at the end of tfa he was so essential and had so much potential and then tlj just squandered all that. finn & rey’s relationship was the emotional core of tfa and finn just got thrown out. it shouldve been finn. sorry im playing lego star wars and lego kylo ren let out some battle chatter to finn like “that lightsaber is rightfully mine” and like. the movies agreed with him i guess. kylo ren was right, finn doesn’t have an important place in the overarching story of the trilogy. he’s secondary after tfa. he’s just a punchline, and then tlj makes its point about war profiteering by deciding that finn (a child soldier, and also a black man) needs to learn the lesson that child slavery is bad. like it’s so galling. one of my best friend’s main sticking points with tlj is that the plots are literally segregated, with all the characters of color getting punched down and having their plots result in nothing but them looking stupid. and i know one of the main themes of the movie is failure, and that’s a perfectly fine theme for a movie to have - it’s The Dark Middle Chapter! - but there’s a difference between rey’s failed belief that she can redeem kylo ren and poe getting slapped because holdo refused to communicate plans to her panicking subordinates. in tlj and tros finn was largely reduced to being the guy who runs after rey and goes “REY!!!!!” which is so, so frustrating, because in tfa their relationship was two-sided. finn was the first person who ever came back for rey. that was so essential to the themes being set up around these characters. tfa is a movie made up of and propelled by nostalgia, but there’s something really lovely about how that movie is about people coming back: the OT characters obviously, rey waiting for her parents to return, finn coming back for rey, poe not being dead, the macguffin of the whole movie being a map to try and bring luke back, han trying to get kylo to come back... it’s all about that. and all of the successful returns revolve around finn. and then tlj is all about rey trying to redeem kylo. everything else got dropped like a rock. and i suppose there’s something interesting there about how nostalgia is an illusion and you cannot make things from the past return to how they used to be (rey’s parents being nobodies who were never gonna come back for her also fits into this theme), but there are ways that finn could have had a stake in that theme as well. the potential of finn, the child soldier raised within the first order, finding out something about his own origins, and grappling with whatever that might be! remember all the “space prince finn” stuff from back then? what about some stupid prequel politicking starring finn! not to mention the insanely obvious plotline of finn leading a stormtrooper rebellion. the moment that really grabs you as Something Special at the start of tfa was finn pulling off his bloody helmet to reveal a horrified human face. tfa is pretty paint-by-numbers beside that plotline. and tlj did nothing with it. tros limply tried to pick it up by.. implying that the only stormtroopers who break their conditioning and/or choose to not participate in violence are those who are force sensitive, which just plain sucks! it sucks! so you can only have empathy if you’re force sensitive? it wasn’t who finn was as a person, but just that he’s force sensitive? fuck off! i’m glad finn was eventually allowed to be force sensitive, as tfa bait-and-switched about, but it was so limp and hollow and weird (like everything about tros, which is so remarkable as a movie that managed to piss off anybody with any emotional stake in the sequel trilogy. just incredible). and he had no arc in that movie anyway, so it’s just a wet fart of a conclusion. finn had a really strong beginning, he had so much potential, and i remember the joy and delight and hope people (including john boyega) had about the sequel trilogy back in 2015, and how that all got flushed down the toilet. the sequel trilogy failed finn so much, and in no small part because finn is a black man.

There is a girl who watched the anime of Norn9 back in 2016 and well, the anime was pretty bad (and kinda ugly xD) but she still felt kinda interested by the characters and the universe that it stuck in her mind for a long time....especially since she had a big otp in it and the anime never made them canon at the end, the frustration....
The girl soon learned that the anime was actually a bad adaptation of a visual novel game of the same name. She wasn’t playing many at that time because the most of the VN were on PS Vita and the poor girl couldn’t afford one (and wasn’t interested either). So she waited, hoping that someday, the game will be exported on pc or a console she would possess.
And this year, her wish came true ; Otomate group brought Norn9 on switch with a fixed english translation (apparently the previous one was bad) and more contents <3
Ok first, let me be clear, yes I definitely bought the game because I NEEDED TO SEE MY OTP FINALLY BE CANON xD it was for my own mental health lol 7 years of craving guys (TTvTT). I didn’t even start by this one though to not be biased about each routes (it was my 4th routes!!! I’VE BEEN PATIENT) and well, IT WAS STILL THE BEST ROUTE IM SORRY, AKito x Nanami best pair for sure <3333
That being said, how was the game? well, definitely better than the anime xD less confusing and more focused as well...even though the story isn’t always clear and consistent :
❤ An unusual otome since it gives you the choice between 3 different heroines, each with their own LI. They each have their own characteristics and are never relegated to the background, which is really cool for their personal development. Another positive point; THEY ARE DUBBED!!! (I hate when everyone is dubbed except for the girl, it's so annoying ><) ❤ An amazing cast with endearing characters, even the most secondary or the most horrible x) ❤ A very nice chara-design and frankly beautiful illustrations. ❤A beautiful OST which I never get tired of even after 40 hours of play ;) ❤ ALL.THE.EXTRAS!!!! (mini-games + bonus dub on the illustrations + mini comics etc...) ❤ An appreciated fast skip system which, compared to the normal skip, allows you to skip all the dialogues already read at once and which saves a lot of time when you just want to unlock an ending or an illustration.
+/- I really liked the sci-fi aspect of the universe and the story brought a lot of mystery and even surprises..but still there are inconsistencies in how each routes are put together. The universe is getting a little imprecise bcs of that.
✖ The epilogue and the character of Sorata. Sorata is not a bad character but we could very well have removed him that it would not have changed anything I think. He is supposed to be the main character at first but disappears completely in favor of the heroines. And when his route comes with the epilogue, it's so rushed that we don't even have time to appreciate his arc and his role in the story. The poor kid deserved better :/ ✖ The use of first/last names in the English translation is very distracting. For example, we hear the heroine call her companion "Kakeru" in the dubbing but it will be written "Yuiga" in the dialog box. And it happens a lot and I don't understand why the translation just couldn't follow the audio dialogues… ✖ I have a pbm with Ron's route because I didn't feel any real chemistry with Nanami. It's also the only route where I didn't feel any sparks between the characters.
It took me 40h+ to finish so yeah, that's a big one ;) I'd recommend just for the heroines bcs it's a nice change to have more than one but also because the girls are adorable, smart and brave <3 It's rare for me to appreciate that much the main girl tbh!

the way you managed to convey miles' complete social panic in a single page... so good so so good also the dialogue you built for that little franziska interaction is really smart i loved how i could show it to someone who has so idea what the lawyers games are and they would completely get her from that little slip-up alone
THANK U... i have a lot of fun with edgeworth as a character i think he is cringe and fail in very similar ways that i am so it makes it pretty easy to pull embarrassing social faux pas out for him. glad people are liking the character writing!
Tumblr media
thank you!! the text color placements are pretty straightforward. mia's text is always one of the yellow shades, phoenix is blue, and edgeworth's is red. the secondary cast gets colored text based on their importance/proximity to the main cast. gregory and franziska, as the people most significant to edgeworth, get red text. maya shares yellow text with her sister. so far the only person to have blue text besides phoenix is iris, but she only has one line and i actually messed up and made it black the first time. i edited it to blue and reuploaded it later, but it couldnt be fixed on twitter and i think most people wouldnt have noticed the change anyway. any tertiary characters get stuck sharing black text. as for the colors of the speech bubbles themselves - that's nothing, i just try and make sure that within each page every character has different colored bubbles, to make the dialogue as easy to parse as possible.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
thank you all for enjoying miles edgeworth cringe compilation. i promise to continue to make things difficult for him. <3
Tumblr media
THANK YOU... mia hasnt actually taught phoenix to play poker i had him pick that up in college but what she did teach him how to do is hustle which is far more important. u know she and him were pulling some bimbo shtick on the weekends to pick up spare cash from unsuspecting bar patrons. god bless. glad people are liking the stuff that im adding to the canon dialogue because the thing is i consider the ace attorney trilogy as it is so so good already so like. i dont want it to ever come across like i'm trying to Fix canon because i truly dont think the trilogy needs fixing. i just want to add the kind of spice and minute character detailing that could never have made it into canon because it would have been poor pacing, tonally inappropriate, or just wasn't super relevant to the story the games were trying to tell. like this is very much A Fan Comic and i dont think it can stand without hte very strong foundation the trilogy built up.

with a drought of fe content outside of feh, i've been playing final fantasy xiv [the free trial version] recently. I've gotten to the end of a realm reborn, i think given credits rolled, but have yet to start stormblood in part because of fucking around and in part because i wanted to give all the starting areas a start so i made a couple extra characters [very annoying that you cant start as a rogue] and gave em a go.
i dont typically rank things so my preferences tend to be fairly fluid, and each area i feel was surprisingly quite good in its own way [i expected one of em to be a stinker but no], but i do have thoughts so i'll go through em the order i tackled their starting areas
gridania: to start with its obvious strengths, gridania is quite beautiful as a starting location. a majestic magical forest, with inhabitants incorporating their way of life in a cooperative manner with the very nature around them, it leaves the best first impression i feel with its wagon ride, and it works its way quite well into gradually coming to realize that the forest is indeed haunted as fuck. an interplay of the light of nature in its beauty and whimsy and the shadow of natures more fickle and devastating aspects just as gridanians themselves present a light of peace and good vibes but retain a shadow of prejudices and elitism. On the whole i also get major shintoism vibes from the whole thing, of godly spirits inhabiting every little object and how so much of gridanias religious practices involve appeasing those godly spirits. I also appreciate that gridania is a fairly compact starting city and environment as a whole, and its aethernet is one of the more efficient ones for actually getting around. the shroud too is nicely compact, not being too small but being small enough that its easier to navigate in its size. and its starting quests get you visiting most of the relevant areas and aether crystals as you go which is a plus for later revisits i feel. in terms of problems, well i like its main quest for having a natural feeling path of escalation from 'adventurer doing chores' to 'hero of the hour' well shadowy forces work behind the scenes, i feel it also has a problem of feeling disconnected from the story at large in retrospect [a problem im getting the impression gridania has in general]. yda and papalymo are fun in their banter dont get me wrong but they're also the least helpful scions for getting a sense of foreshadowing for the later story, a story in which they are very much secondary players. and well the gridanians are and indeed do fight the ixal in their starting story but the personal animosity connection isn't there and the ixal aren't particularly relevant in the rest of a realm reborns story.
ul'dah: in terms of strengths ul'dah benefits the most from its connection to the story. you spend large amounts of a realm reborns post starting area story in ul'dah, its where the scions are located, and thancred is the most relevant of the secondary scions in a realm reborn. as such it can lay a lot more groundwork and foreshadowing for whats to come going forward and i will admit it helped me appreciate characters like thancred or the sultina a lot more. ul'dah has i would argue the best athernet of the cities as well, plopping you right at pretty much every relevant location or close enough. its opening wagon ride well probably the weakest in my opinion, does still maintain the story connectivity though where we see the brass blades a representation of ul'dah vices in this opening instance try to shake ya down for extra cash only to be interrupted by a suprise raid and threat of the amalj'aa. that brings me to my problems with ul'dah though, and unfortunately its the starting area i have the most problems with at the moment. for starters its pretty bland as far as an environment goes. gridania plays into the magical forest sterotype sure but it intentionally complicates that aesthetic. the forest is haunted as fuck, the people not as perfect as the profess to be, theres a tension of natures beauty and natures wrath there. by comparison ul'dah is just your generic arabian nights fantasy location, deserts and savannas oh my with a sprinkling of lost desert civilizations and oasis springs oh my. its not a bad take on any of those elements mind, it serves the boxstandard arabian nights setting purpose of merchant wonders and wealth inequality. but its boxstandard, theres no bite to it. and thats also not helped by ul'dah being stupidly big to navigate on foot for a starting area and thannalan being just a bit too big to comfortably navigate on foot as well. its starting quest line doesn't demand too much in that regard mind but that just means your mostly stuck in the one area. and as mentioned its all just your standard desert savanna.
limsa lominsa: in terms of strengths limsa lominsa is the opposite side of the same coin of stunning that is gridania in terms of its starting area. well gridania is beautiful its a tried and tested kinda beautiful of magical forests, a good spin on a proven formula. limsa lominsa is beautiful in a more uniquely innovative fashion, combining castle and watchtower/crows nest with a seaside port in a way that really works as a fantastical physical space. hell ya have to get there by boat which helps with that impression of wonder divorcing you from any other impressions of setting well on the boat getting oriented and then giving you an eyeful of that fantastic imagery of limsa lominsa as ya dock. it helps that limsa lominsa is fairly easy to navigate on foot as well, though its aethernet system is probably the worst of the starting areas. story wise limsa lominsa strikes the happy medium between gridania and ul'dah as a starting area, laying down solid foreshadowing for whats to come and being more story relevant in general well also providing a solid feel for the culture and setting at play in limsa lominsa. pirates are free and you do what ya want, but that also means exploitation of others in the name of that freedom and well the ruling authorities aim to crack down on such exploitation that also opens the door for tyranny and exploitation of its own. its an interesting balance for the people of limsa trying to strike as they navigate their future, and it gels well with the ship metaphors that get tossed around a lot. ya need a tightly run ship, but if you go to far the crew might rebel, stuff like that. honestly my problem with limsa lominsa is that la noscea the area around it is way to big for comfortable on foot navigation. and well limsa is fantastic la noscea isn't quite so fantastic being a hodgepodge of different island environments with the occasional fantastic set piece such as dragon bones or giant windmills. also it annoys me that ya can't start the game as a rogue, but thats a separate issue.

so in roa ive made a concept that if you play as a druid build at a high enough level and have the warewolf trait you can just Choose to always be in animal form, im trying to figure out the name of Solens and Morgans aide who happens to be a shapeshifter like that (turning into a cat) and i had the rogue thought that maybe this is their second character slot and the first one was abandoned which then went Here
real names in roa must be sacred
literally no information is shared to others unless itd be visible in real life, names and level arent displayed above player heads, cant inspect their elements unless you have skills for it, roa is a social experiment and letting you hide your identity is so deeply fucking important to that cause
solen has three characters total, Solen who is his main, Morgan which is a high level secondary, and Incubus which is a barely levelled character, the reason that i use solen as a name for the guy behind all of them is cuz i think thats what he would land on as his identity, and sharing his real name would be like proposing marriage
shoos name is almost a state fucking secret, hes just Assigned Names, he's CALLED shogun, and shoo, his actual username is cringe as fuck which is why he doesnt say anything about it, its only when their new world is soon to end that he would tell keiki (who loves him more than life) his actual name, he'd have told keiki a Long time ago that he's trans, but sharing in person information is like
imagine this right
you get sucked into a fantasy world for what seems like 16 years due to local time being different, and you after half that time just fully dont connect with the world you grew up in anymore, the outside is foreign land if you were a teen entering the you die if you get killed game, sure the people inside can find you with your name
but like
is it even still Your Name?
shoo entered roa aged 16, once adapted to the local time it would feel like he'd spent half his life as someone entirely different, in real time it'd almost be true because they get out just shy of 10 years after
if you had been isekaied for what seemed like half your lifetime... would you still respond to your old name? would you recognize the name as belonging to you?
solen wouldnt, shoo wouldnt, duke argo might

Character Guide-
Avian: my first dnd character! he has wings of a cardinal bird because of that bird’s personal significance to me.
Axel: my character in a story i write for my friends. (they all have their own characters) yes hes a cat boy. sometimes hes not. its confusing.
Elise: from the same universe! she has spider eyes and short blond hair (unless its an au)
Edwin: i did not choose the furry life, my friends chose it for me. but i like my funky moose guy. yes hes green. its cause of the weed.
Limester: it’s how i tag art of me! or i guess my artist persona? drawing him in a cartoonish way got me back into art and he does represent how i feel like i look. just a silly fellow.
Javel: the second character in a story i write for my friends (i write this one with my boyfriend). he’s an elf with green hair and an upbeat personality.
Angelo: i sometimes draw him and Javel together because it’s my boyfriend’s character in this story. he has purple hair.
Isaac: another character made by a friend in this story! he has grey hair and red glasses, also funky shirts.
Chester: also another character made by a friend in this story. he has wings but i try to avoid drawing them cause im lazy.
Tic-Tac: a robot character for a story my dnd group is making. hes like your stereotypical adhd hacker character and an adrenaline junky. goes by the alias SL1M3 online.
Ethan: Tic-Tac’s roommate! works as a bodyguard and bounty hunter and is WAY COOLER. tends to wear a teal beanie and orange and black jacket. goes by the alias Ace.
Nox: also part of a story with my dnd group. lives in a fantasy-apocalypse world and pretty much plays by bloodborne rules. gas mask.
Synth: technically just my minecraft skin. tv head because i thought it was cute. he lives in a pc because i built one. which took forever.
Keith: a chemist and astronaut! has mid length green hair (i like green.) and wears nicer suits and turtlenecks.
Anthony: yet another friend universe character. hes canonically getting some monster dick. while being a dick.
Ambro: my monster hunter character! hes got red hair and a beard. hes a hammer main, i refuse to learn any other weapon.
Josh: more. friend. universe. characters. hes seen The Horrors. hes got a dead mom. hes bisexual. tends to wear a hat, sunglasses, and has a neck tattoo.
Carneus: culty bastard. i made him to fuck a friend’s oc. we do what we gotta do brothers. he has an eyepatch and a stick up his ass thats it.
Zelos: one of my bg3 characters! lolth-sworn drow sorcerer who looks fancy but acts like a little freakazoid.
Para: another one of my bg3 characters, a half elf druid that’s design is parrot inspired.
Garfield: im 90% sure bg3 is lame atp but i haven’t been able to play actual dnd in forever so shhh. anyways hes a tiefling warlock.
Jameson: a very old character of mine that’s changed a lot with me. he has a spider motif with his eyes.
I’ll add too this as I go and of course there are some characters that I didn’t put since I’ll probably only draw them once for a friend!
most of what I draw is inspired by my writing, it’s more of a secondary hobby to that. but i want to track my progress and have a place to put this stuff.

#not art#im really not sure how to continue this blog ill be real#i dont have a solid grasp of his personality#or at least his personality??? just doesnt agree with mine?????#im chaotic stupid#hes lawful good#no actually wait im chaotic depressed yes thats better#anyways thats my excuse of the month pardon me as i leave for another like month#rip#in my defense i kinda... never had a cap muse i just really like him as a character#i may one day migrate some of my metas from my personal blog here#just rewrite them in a more coherent way i guess bc they're mostly me gushing about how lawful and how good he is and how#thats really refreshing for a guy who consistently only plays chaotic and/or neutral characters#aka me#i generally cant write anything more good or lawful than true neutral ok#i struggle#my main muse is a chaotic neutral bastard idiot#my secondary muse is neutral good and is a very :] 'ok' type of guy#and like all my other muses have some hidden dark side or whatever and like#im sure cap does have those intrusive thoughts now and again but he doesnt let that get to him#the man of unshakeable morals#not just an idiot with a shield or the star spangled man with a plan#although he is also both of those things#idk man i just like how surprisingly nuanced mcu cap is despite everyone saying lawful good is a boring alignment#to me he is anything but boring at least in terms of morality#you dont often get characters who are constantly morally challenged bc most people are neutral or chaotic in fandoms#and their like defining feature is 'my morals are grey blah blah' yes susan we know thats the morality#of literally every other fucking muse out there take it from someone who only plays morally grey muses

(i continue to be anon bc i don't want the asks coming from my main and not my pokemon sideblog but hi i made the alain art and had the ask about the tsme tag last time! i return flaksdjf)
idk if you're still taking tsme asks bc technically the months ends today? so if you don't get to this that is. totally totally cool
but i was wondering if you have like. headcanons or ideas or anything about connections between oras (esp the delta episode) and tsme acts 2 and 3?
basically i'm novelizing tsme rn and i've got the first act done but the second one has me kinda stumped bc what is the logic behind magical staircases activated by rainbow rocks and all of that shit flkasjdf and there's so much lore potential but idk how to Lore and so much more one could do with steven's character then what is properly done in the anime so idk i was just wondering if you had suggestions or headcanons to get my brain gears going flkasdjf sorry if this is a weird question
gonna flat out admit that i never even got to play the delta episode so. struggling haha
anyways also just wanted to say tysm for doing tsme month and providing sm content it's literally the happiest i've felt in the pokemon fandom in what feels like forever it was just so nice to see that other people like tsme too! this was so much fun even just to follow along and i had a great time :DD
First thing first, I TOTALLY GET THE FEELING im on secondary blog too, so I can never do asks from potahun and it makes me sad sometimes ;__; but HI! Thank you so much again for the lovely tsme month art aaaaaaa
Secondly, your ask is hitting me right on the head like a whack-a-mole, because I DO have a lot of thoughts about oras being linked to TSME 2-3 and I am so happy to be able to talk about it all :D
I already used this headcanon as the basis for The Elevator Pitch (sorry for the self-promote here) and set out details in the end notes of that fic But the narrative I believe to be true (and I dont believe ive seen it before) is:
The Megalith originally landed in Kalos through unknown means (from space?) and was used by AZ as the core of the Ultimate Weapon. (headcanon)
Firing the Ultimate Weapon poured energy - a mix of Pokémon life energy and Megalith energy - onto Kalos which mutated certain rocks into Mega Stones. (canon/headcanon)
After regretting his acts, AZ hid the Ultimate Weapon, and possibly broke the Megalith into pieces, to avoid another UW and one part was moved to Hoenn. (headcanon)
Some people accepted to keep the Megalith in Hoenn (headcanon) But with its Primal Energy, the rock caused trouble with Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza (canon). In this overall chaos, Mega Stones appeared in Hoenn: Rayquaza does Mega-Evolve and make attacks rain whenever it detects the Megalith. Does that mix of Megalith+Pokémon energy do the same thing to rocks as the UW did? Maybe. (headcanon/canon)
To avoid having Hoenn wrecked constantly, some people must have hidden the Hoenn part of the Megalith in a system that we see in TSME2. (headcanon) I am not sure how the rainbow stairs work either. Could be Mega-Evo energy-powered technology from back in the days. Or magic. Either way, that Megalith is hidden in Hoenn, and the key to it broken into two halves. (canon)
AZ could have been in Hoenn to witness the Rayquaza phenomenon (basically canon) and taken half of the key with him back to Kalos. (headcanon) As he is Fleurdelys’ ancestor, this could explain why Fleurdelys found half of the key (while Daigo found the other) in TSME2 (canon)
The other half of the Megalith is left in Kalos, hidden within the Anistar Sundial. (headcanon)
Based on this, one could say the Megalith is “the root of Mega Evolution”
Most of these headcanons are based to an extent on canon information or would fit within canon narrative: For instance, we have canon indications from ORAS that AZ has been in Hoenn (tree near Cave of Origins, and Zinnia’s dialogues). Also, in XY games, the Anistar Sundial is shrouded in mystery, but is linked to Mega Evolution, and is rumoured to be from outer space (Megalith?) Also, in XY&Z, the Megalith headed straight for the Anistar Sundial in order to absorb it: given Fleurdelys’ plan (in-game) to revive the UW, that would tie the loose ends together and make a coherent narrative (i.e. the Hoenn-Megalith wants to fuse again with the Kalos-Megalith and their fusion + whatever process Fleurdelys made the Megalith undertake, together, “revive” the UW and destroy Kalos). Also! Devon used Pokémon life energy to create Infinity Energy, inspired by the story of AZ and the Ultimate Weapon. But why did Devon never somehow create Mega Stones through that process? Life energy itself is not enough; they lacked the Megalith. etc.
I believe this theory holds up fairly strongly, but there is of course speculation involved. I hope it can spark some ideas...? :’)
As for Daigo’s role within this big conspiracy theory, I also have my take on it in The Elevator Pitch :’D but that is NOT canon and is just one take among many possibilities haha
In any case, good luck with your writing process aaaaaa!! And thank you again for this ask!! I am so, so glad if you enjoyed tsme month ;w; and thank you so much for telling me that you did. *holds heart* It was such a pleasure for me to scream, reminisce and share the love for tsme as well, and it was so nice to see all the warm responses, to see that it’s been years but people still care about the source material. Even without tsme month, I hope tsme continues to be loved by all

the new interview doesn’t mention bakugo or shoto ahh i know they’re main characters but im worried they’ll be sidelined until the final battle :/
Here is the interview:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My thoughts:
Well, I certainly count Bakugou and Shouto among the “most important ones” he mentions in the very first sentence. He’s also making reference to the Todoroki family scenes - I doubt he’d forget Shouto from those.  More importantly, it confirms that we’ll go back to UA in some way (hopefully before the very last battle).
I think he was giving more hints about others who have been more sidelined before or who may seem more secondary. I’ve expected Ochako to have a big part, so let’s hope it will be good and not just more crush-stuff. Hawks becoming one of the “lights of hope” I think kind contradicts the dark Hawks theories (yay!).
Them being a light of hope sounds also like our mains may be incapacitated or captured or otherwise temporarily taken out of the play for a while. 🤔 hmmm... it would give space for the others to shine...
He’s mentioned before a Shoji backstory, and I’m really looking forward to that! I was sure Shinsou would have a role in the end, because why bother to bring him into the hero course and never even show it? Also, I do believe he could do what Aizawa did in the war arc, and incapacitate ShigarAFO for a while (and actually may help Tomura to break the control).
But yeah, I look forward to Monoma getting something, I’ve really wanted to see his power in use in a battle. It is something that can be really creative.
And Sero? Oh, did he say Sero? Cool! Sero really deserves a good highlight. He’s never got to do in the manga anything important in a real fight and was one of the students most shafted by Deku’s OFA power-up.
I’m relieved to read that the ending he has in mind is somehow still the original one. I was worried that WSJ would push him in one direction to set up a sequel. But he’s still working based on his original concept, then I do hope we’ll avoid the biggest pitfall (Deku solo win as All Might 2.0)

saunters sauntuly in here... using that questionaire to learn more abt everybodies wizzies... here r my questions abt urs..
- does your wizard have a primary school? secondary school?
- does your wizard travel alone or with a group?
- what do they think about forbidden magics? should it be taught?
- how do they generally get along with most npcs? do they have favorites, or a best friend?
for all ur wizards!!
hiiiii so i technically have three wizards but i basically made the first a self insert because i did not think i would still be playing this game by now... so i will focus answers on my two actual characters. this is kinda long bc it's the first time im talking about them here so i gotta give context:
does your wizard have a primary school? secondary school?
- scarlet is my main death wiz. the story about her primary school is actually kinda funny, bc i made my current wiz acc in 2016 after my old one was banned (chargeback 😤). BUT i didn't use it until last year and thought she was a fire like my og character?? so then i logged in and it was like "welcome to the death school" after i named her scarlet and dressed her all in red 😀
- roslyn is a storm, and samuel is a life. nothing special behind those stories (at least not ones that wouldn't extend this answer by way too much)
- and i don't use secondary schools to characterize bc i am lazy..... but maybe i should
does your wizard travel alone or with a group?
- scarlet goes alone, bc i keep her story adherent to canon
- but roslyn and samuel. oh god. most annoying saviors ever. the deal with them is that ambrose sends them around the spiral as a team. the thing is... they are both wolf stormblades and just refuse to cooperate and only make it to dragonspyre through pure luck... in ds the gravity of the situation finally hits them, and they don't really talk again until celestia. but arc 1 and the time between dragonspyre/celestia gave them a lot of time to grow up. i could write a whole essay on this, but to keep it short, they are besties by end of arc 2 lol
what do they think about forbidden magics? should it be taught?
- i assume this refers to shadow magic? and tbh only scarlet has gotten that far in game, but roslyn and samuel are on the same page that it needs to be studied more, but that it can be seriously dangerous (reverie: the shadow in your heart twists your dreams) and not taught at places like ravenwood. maybe the history/theories, but not the spells. just enough to sate curiosity and avoid morganthe 2.0
- although roslyn is a less firm on this position. she's from marleybone (where there's no magic, according to wethersfield) and ravenwood is the best thing that could have happened to her (see next q), so she isn't sure how she feels being on the side for its containment
how do they generally get along with most npcs? do they have favorites, or a best friend?
- ok so i need to give some bkg on roslyn and samuel.
- roslyn is from the streets of marleybone. think victorian street urchin. part of a band of children with a strict code of honor. so she gets along fine with the npcs (if they don't to anything to change her mind...ahem giles in empyrea), but she would really get on with the hoods in mirage
- samuel is from a wealthy family in karamelle. think nepotism baby. set to take over his family's part of nana's when he's older. he's very aloof and haughty at first and doesn't really care about the npcs. but like i said in #2, both he and roslyn mellow out after realizing that they're part of something much larger than either of them
- but as for best friends... they are (eventually) each other's lol. this is actually great timing for this q bc i was up at like 3am last night drawing after seeing a vision of this meme in my minds eye

So...I wish to hear the parallels.
OH IM SO GLAD YOU ASKED, HOW PLEASANTLY UNEXPECTED (/s /j)
Ok so I’ve seen too many posts comparing Thorin and Aragorn. I mean I get it?? But it’s surface level compared to Boromir and Thorin. The first is a given; both Aragorn and Thorin are lost kings. They’re also not the main protagonist (Frodo/Sam and Bilbo respectively) but they’re still pretty significant characters. That, and having dead parents is abt as far as it goes for me. (If anyone has any more im happy to hear them.)
However, Boromir and Thorin’s storylines and characters as a whole are so similar it’s crazy.
We’re gonna bulletpoint this bitch. Just off the top of my head:
Boromir and Thorin are sons of rulers. Now I know what you’re gonna say. “What’s Aragorn then, just some bum that everyone liked well enough to hand over the Throne of Gondor to? Did you not read the book at all??” Again, going back to the “lost king” idea. I know. But the thing is, Denethor and Thrain we’re still ruling over their people; a people that had once been renowned in Middle Earth for their might, majesty, wealth and knowledge but have since “sunken low” through some form of great catastrophe. For the dwarves of Erebor it was Smaug and the loss of their home and riches, for Minas Tirith it was decades of constant battle with the growing strength of Mordor. Both Boromir and Thorin lived through it (or in Boromir’s case, had been exposed to it his entire life) and watched their fathers and their people as this was happening. Aragorn has seen some of this, true, but it wasn’t as personal and the times when he did witness a part of it, he was really just a passerby. There’s emphasis put on the fact that the line of kings (of which Aragorn is a descendant) was broken well before his time.
Next, their arcs are very similar as well. Both, after watching the steady decline of their once might people, are made aware of a chance to restore it and end their people’s suffering. They go on long journeys trying to fulfill this goal (though aiding Gondor is more of a secondary goal in FOTR, it’s still a goal (Elrond, Aragorn and Boromir even vaguely make a plan in the books for Aragorn and Boromir to go to Minas Tirith, and it’s also part of the reason why Elrond agrees for Boromir to be a part of the Fellowship), and Boromir’s main motivation for even going with them in the first place). As the journey goes on, you can feel their sense of urgency to make it back. Thorin has a physical deadline, Durin’s Day, whereas Boromir knew the dire situation Minas Tirith was in and wanted to make it back to make sure there was even a city left to save. Although Thorin manages to physically make it back to his home in his lifetime, both die before their goals are completed.
Which brings me to my next point: their deaths play a big part in redeeming them. As we know, Thorin is overtaken by dragon sickness, which as we understand it is extreme greed beyond ones control. It’s interesting, because that’s also how we come to understand the effects of the Ring too. One could even go as far as to say that dragon sickness is like the effects of the ring, only less extreme at its end stages and being caused by different things. You see both Thorin and Boromir feeling the effects of that greed akin to illness early on in their journeys, and it appears to worsen slowly but steadily until the very end, when both seem to snap. Thorin does this by going back on his promises to the men of Esgaroth and being (partially but significantly) responsible for starting the Battle of the Five Armies. They even have a more personal episode with them and the main protagonist of their respective stories. Thorin, upon finding out Bilbo stole then gave the Arkenstone to his enemies, attacks him. Boromir attacks Frodo in an attempt to get the Ring in Parth Galen. It seems to be fleeting, because both also seem to snap out of it soon/immediately after. This also comes just before their deaths.
Once again, their death arcs are almost the same. Upon snapping out of it, they realize the wrongs they’ve done and immediately try to make amends, by stepping up and doing what seems right. Thorin does this by coming to the aid of Dain, the Men of Esgaroth and the Elves of Mirkwood, and providing much needed support. For Boromir, it comes by helping to search for Frodo. Then, by following and protecting Merry and Pippin. Both ultimately lead to their deaths.
When they die, they both have had time to think over their wrongs and prepare a sort of confession. In the books, it’s said Boromir was laying there dying “for no small amount of time” before Aragorn finally found him. Thorin was the same before Bilbo was lead to him. Then they give this final confession, stating their specific wrongs and begging for forgiveness. Aragorn and Bilbo do forgive them, and they give a final farewell before taking their last breath. Though both were tragic, they were crucial to their redemption.
Finally, their personalities are incredibly similar. (maybe it’s because of how similar their storylines were, who would have thought?) Boromir and Thorin are both very honor driven, having strong moral codes that guide their decisions. For example, in the book, part of what gets Thorin to not kill Bilbo is Gandalf reminding him of all Bilbo had done to help him get there the first place. I can’t remember specifics for Boromir off the top of my head, but I’d argue that it’s still very present in his character. Both have seen many battles. This links to their sense of honor. They also value loyalty. (This one is probably a bit of a reach, but they’re also distrustful of elves. I say this because of how Boromir is in Lothlorien, especially after Galadriel does her mental test thing with the Fellowship when they first arrive.) Both also are bound by a sense of duty to their people and their ancestors. You could say they also hold a deep sense of nostalgia and pride for the former glory of their homes.
Granted, they have their differences, but those dwarf (sorry) in comparison to their similarities. I should also note that this is just off the top of my head. I’m sure if I looked harder I’d find more. It makes me wonder sometimes if Tolkien made them so similar on purpose, or if it influenced his decision to change Boromir’s storyline from a traitor that sides with the enemy (like Saruman) to that of an otherwise noble hero brought down by an antagonistic element in the story.
But yeah. There you go.

snow crash - neal stephenson
my playlist (because of The Way That I Am)
final thoughts:
okay, im going to be honest right out of the gate- i cant decide whether this is a book id recommend or not. it was really fun for the most part, but personally there was a lot more exposition than id like. the early portions of the novel have exposition which feels completely fair, mostly things relating to worldbuilding. stephenson creates his own vision of future america, and some places online referred to it as cyberpunk, and some as post-cyberpunk. id be more in the latter camp, mostly due to the way he plays with tropes, leaving the reader unsure of which will be subverted and which wont.
the use of language was really fun, and i enjoyed the worldbuilding a lot. his vision of a futuristic capitalistic earth feels surreal in its immediacy and recognizability. the back jacket blurb ends with "a future america so bizarre, so outrageous, you'll recognize it immediately." which, yeah. a texan info-tech magnate? two competing corporations owning the highway system? suburban city-states? this was another enjoyable thing- everything was colorfully named, and names treated totally normally, which kind of poked fun at how we have everyday things named very ludicrously and for the most part we are totally blind to it.
one aspect i really enjoyed was that the author often doesn't make certain things clear to the audience, until he does, and then it becomes necessary to reassess the entire story and setting. this goes to underscore the theme of the importance of information and the ways we take it in and perceive the world based upon it. for example, we don't learn that y.t. is fifteen until maybe 75 pages in, at which point a lot makes sense in retrospect. the same thing occurs in the worldbuilding, as suddenly a detail is given in passing and the reader must incorporate it into the setting, which by default we assume to be similar in many ways to our idea of america. it keeps the reader on their toes as well as furthering the worldbuilding. for the most part, the tech stuff didnt feel outdated to me, despite being a future projected out from '92.
however, aspects of the book are definitely very 1992. id put these into two camps: the first, being that the book does at different times use slurs. the main character is black and asian, the n word is used a few times by racist side-character/antagonist types, as are a few other racial slurs. there was also the occasional usage of the r slur, within the narrative prose itself, rather than usage as an insult within dialogue.
the protagonist, who is named, unfortunately, hiro protagonist, is a great character and felt very fleshed out to me, though at times he reminded me more of dirk strider than normally would be ideal. (its obvious that stephenson and andrew hussie are of a similar type of writer, and play with similar tropes, lmao.) hiro is a man of many worlds. he seems to shift between them easily, though never fully existing in any of them. this is reflected in his background, both in his biracial identity and in having been raised on a myriad of army bases. this is layered further in his fluidity in interacting with both reality and the metaverse, yet remaining slightly, consistently aloof. fascinatingly the first moment i sensed this drop was when we meet juanita- aka where his real and meta realities coincide. the description of them as the adam and eve of the metaverse is both insanely romantic and thematically key (good god i wish we had more than like, two conversations between them). juanita designed the facial component to metaverse avatars, doing the majority of this work when the two were together, and hiro can see echoes of both their facial tics in the face of every avatar in the metaverse. in a way, by having done this work juanita is positioned by the narrative as one of the gods of this digital realm. she is also hiro's call to action, being aware of the coming trouble and alerting him to it, as well as connecting him to the informational database he needs to prepare.
y.t., the secondary protagonist, fucking ruled. i loved that she was just a fifteen year old punkass kid whose mom doesnt know how crazy this part time job is. y.t. being worried about her mom was a great thread throughout, and a really good balance to how obviously independent y.t. is. i do wish there had been a chance to explain more about her background (she has a dad who left who is mentioned in a throwaway sentence, and a boyfriend who is mentioned near the beginning but never again.) i really enjoyed how obviously hyperaware y.t. was at all times about her own place within the insanities of the setting, while also consistently writing her as a teen maybe in way too deep who thinks about things in typically teenage ways. but like, that wasn't ever held against her? the narrative meets her where she is. it was honestly awesome. HOWEVER,
i absolutely hated the raven and y.t. scenes. how creepy!!! he basically statutory rapes her!!! we know hes at least late 20s early 30s, because hes the same age as hiro. if this sort of content is upsetting to read for you, i definitely do NOT recommend this book. (if you want to avoid reading these bits: ch 47 y.t. meets raven, ch 50 they are in a bar eating, ch 52 things happen that result in y.t.'s anti-assault device activating- she did not activate it on purpose, but forgot it was there- and raven is knocked out.)
please PLEASE dont take any of the following analysis as like, trying to be apologetic towards this scenes. because again they were awful and hard to get through and really gross. but im also cognizant that the author was obviously trying to convey something by making the choice, like the way it was written is obviously not condoning this sort of thing.
i think maybe what stephenson was trying to get at with that, was that we see hiro internally negate any potential for anything untoward with y.t. basically immediately, since he kind of senses that she might have a small crush on him (though this doesnt last more than a fleeting moment, especially from her perspective). vs raven, whose 'poor impulse control' warning tattoo eventually elicits a sarcastic remark from hiro after he finds out raven and y.t. were "a thing". i really dont think hiro knew how far it went? like it was just suuuper weird, but i figured it was meant narratively to 1. execute the chekovs gun of y.t.'s anti-assault device, 2. contrast hiro and raven (especially considering the bike-racing argument where theyre telling the story together, which is supposed to parallel them, while contrasting the differences in how they ended up?), and 3. just to get raven unconscious, i guess. but good god it was weird and i hated every second of it, why couldnt the device have like, activated way earlier?? gah. fucking upsetting. moving past that!
honestly i was really frustrated by how little screentime juanita got, because the way she was introduced was so fucking interesting and then shes mostly off doing her own thing. the bits of explanation she gives at the end about what she was up to on the raft are so sparse and im like damn, can we get a little bit of her pov in here? please? that would have ruled. additionally, shes supposed to be hiros love interest, but we see so little of them interacting outside her intro scenes. a huge portion of why hiro is getting into the sumerian mythology is literally framed as something that will help him understand juanita, but we dont get to see him talk to her about it barely at all.
the supporting characters were quite fun, i particularly liked the librarian. big surprise, i liked the overly literal ai information-dispensor, lmfao. watching him and hiro interact reminded me SO hard of geordi laforge having honest to god conversations with the computer where he tries to coax information out of it, aka one of my favorite little aspects of tng.
and lastly, the major plot themes themselves. i adore the way stephenson approached action, it was very entertaining. usually i cant really visualize action scenes written out, but his use of language was really really effective and engaging. the plot itself was absolutely fascinating, though i found the premise pretty contrived. which isnt bad in itself, i was fully suspending my disbelief until the last hundred pages or so. which for a 550+ page book, isnt too bad.
i did like the approach of linking the ancient to the modern, that is always really neat. and i think ultimately stephenson did it in an interesting way, not how i would have done it, but definitely interesting! creating these ideas about information infrastructures, and there being words that can access those and be used to control people, was wild. not sure if i agree about the equating of religion to a virus, though he did specifically establish that it was more the approach to religion, than religion itself. (maybe if juanita had been more goddamn present in the narrative that could have been elaborated on a little more. literally her perspective would have been perfect in balancing that out!!)
ultimately what did me in was the very very very long winded MONOLOGUE where hiro re-explained the whole premise, in ways that didnt really neatly organize into a cohesive argument. a lot of the scenes where hiro talks to the librarian, which are interspersed throughout the book, are really exposition heavy, because stephenson is rooting his ideas in historical concepts that need to be explained to both hiro and the audience. and i thought all that was fine, because it was a conversation where hiro was grappling with the information, and he was figuring it out along with the reader, and most importantly it was a conversation between him and the librarian computer program.
howeverrr later on we get a full rehash of all that, where hiro makes clear some stuff that was just implied for the reader, and hes literally just telling these important men whats up in this big long monologue. utterly worthless. i kept reading it and going YEAH, we KNOW, we know this we know this. and the important men barely interjected. it added basically nothing to our understanding of the situation, other than reframing it. but everything added was already an implicit thing, and didnt really need to be said again.
the resolution to the book was stellar, the last 30-40 pages, once hiro is onto the raft, were great. ultimately after reading and giving some time to digest it, i think it was a solidly great book with a few big drawbacks near the end, but which dont carry through and sully the ending.
